I'm having wireless Issues with the Intel 1030,Turning off by itself

Q: I'm having wireless Issues with the Intel 1030,Turning off by itself

I noticed my wireless 1030 is acting strange after getting BSOD(not the cause of Wireless but it was solved)and now I'm experiencing some problems, here are the issue. I'm worried if it is the NIC card

1.like it takes a while to connect to a certain webpage then whenI looked up on Event viewer it stated in the lines of Google too long to respond DNS

2. sometimes the wireless would switch off by itself and when I try to reconnect to my home router it says "Cannot find my router* yet I can see it shows my wireless router is available then when I look up event viewer it states " NETBIOS over TCPIP has entered Stop state".

I would have to click on

*Troubleshoot Problems which then would let me reconnect back in the router*

3. I have been getting this new event viewer error 5060:
The description for Event ID 5060 from source NETwNs64 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
\Device\NDMP32
Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030
I can see my network information by typing ipconfig/all BUT recently I performed a Intel? PROSet/Wireless Software Manual Diagnostics Tool and it failed on "Radio ON test" yet my wifi switch was ON. I'm really worried if it is the NIC card.
If it is the NIC card would I be able to replace it by not dismantling parts such as the keyboard/or screen to get to the card

A: I'm having wireless Issues with the Intel 1030,Turning off by itself

It almost sounds like a nic driver issue. Have you updated it recently? Try to update, or roll-back if update did not work.
Replacing your nic should not be to hard depending on your device. Usually the nic is the easiest of the add-on boards to get to. But, I really don't think it's the nic. Were you changing, installing, updating anything with your hardware, operating system when this happened? If driver update/rollback doesn't work, try a system restore if feasible.

I saw some people having trouble with extremely slow wireless connections using an Intel Centrino Wireless n-1030 card. The original thread is closed, so the problem may already be solved, but if anyone is still experiencing this problem, here is what worked for me:

This NIC is a dual band card (802.11 + bluetooth), and with some routers having the bluetooth enabled really slowed down the 802.11n connection (it didn't seem to happen with my netgear router, but when I switched to linksys, WHAMMO!).

Anyway, when I disabled the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager the problem was completely solved (uhhhh except I need to use a dongle to make my bluetooth mouse work now... small price to pay IMO)

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience. Hope it can help someone.

I'm trying to replace a faulty wireless card and I can't figure out for the life of me where to order a new one. 'HP Part Surfer' doesn't return anything. I'm also not entirely sure where the part number on the wireless card is, all I can really see that might be it is a 'PNOP' number. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem. Intel released new drivers to update from version 15.11 to 16.11. I downloaded them from Intel website, ran install, success. When I go into Device Manager to check on the driver version, I see it is still 15.11. I have tried a number of things, including deleting the drivers from the Device Manager and running the install again. However, in this case Windows 8 automatically installs even older drivers, version 14, dated 2011. I'd like to try the new drivers because it takes very long for the net to comeback after I wake up my laptop. Version 15.11 was installed by Windows Update, those drivers are dated January 2014.

Hi, Your machine was built before second half of 2014 therefore the chance to upgrade wireless card is very slim to none. There is a list on pp 6 and 7 of the following manual:           http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099448.pdf You can use USB wireless adapter, this will cost you one USB port       http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/c/technology/networking/wireless-usb-adapters     (Note: much cheaper from other countries). Regards.

Hello,

I sent my computer in for repairs a while back and now the wireless card won't work. It can't find any signals unless I plug in the one from my desktop. I went to computer/properties/device manager and saw that the wireless card (Intel (R) Centrino (R) Wireless-N 1030) has a yellow "!" next to it. The properties tab says, "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".

I have tried searching for new drivers automatically but it says they are up to date. I downloaded the latest drivers directly from Intel and tried to manually update them but it said that the drivers are up to date again. This problem occurs whenever I update my computer. I did a system restore and it worked fine for about a month, but once it updated it did the same thing again. There is no restore point to go to this time, so I'm stuck.

Anyone know what I should do?

Thanks

I have a relatively new (few months) laptop of my own running Win7 x64 with an "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030" wireless network adapter. For some reason, I have serious problems connecting to most wireless networks. On my home network there are rarely problems, but when I attempt to any other network (college, or public hotspot, or neighbor's open wireless) there are often issues.

By "issues" I mean: when I first attempt to connect to the network in question, I'm usually able to connect to the first few sites I try to access, but usually after a second or a minute or a few minutes of normal connectivity, I'm suddenly unable to access anything. The browser's response is that DNS lookup has failed; when I record an IP address (via ping-command prompt) and type it in manually after this point, the browser's response is that "##.##..." is taking too long to respond, etc..." No other program is able to connect either. I have tried setting different DNS servers but it has had no visible effect. At this point, the only thing I can do to reconnect is to either wait a long time for the connection to reestablish itself (which can take an hour or more and isn't guaranteed) or to go to Device Manager and disable and reenable the wireless adapter, which then *sometimes* allows me to reconnect for a few seconds or a minute or an hour before connectivity breaks again. When the connection fails, Windows displays the computer ... Read more

A:Unreliable connectivity - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

I had the same issue too. My GF's laptop has a 1030 wireless NIC and it had all sorts of issues connecting to the APs in my house. It would work fine with her Linksys wireless router and my Sprint MiFi. But had connectivity/performance problems when connecting to either of my Netgear APs (WG102 and WNDAP350) along with my PC W 620 wireless controller with AP 105 and AP 125 access points. Updating the drivers helped the problem somewhat, but we were still experiencing dropped packets or extremely high latency when connected. Upon a suggestion from one of my coworkers, I tried adjusting the performance/power settings in Windows and that seemed to have fixed the problem. The laptop has been running fine ever since.

This card supports 802.11n. Obviously... it's right in the name, plus device manager>network adapters>Intel Centrino>Advanced tab clearly shows n enabled.

But can anyone take a second to tell me, if you know, why when I run the command netsh wlan show drivers, "radio types supported" shows only b and g, and NOT 802.11n ??? Confusing to me.

Hello everyone, I have been trying to get my wireless working on my Dell Inspiron n5110 on Windows 7 64 bit to no avail. In device manager I have the error "code 10 this device cannot start" I have tried almost everything so far. Reinstalled drivers multiple times, with multiple versions. I have replaced the adapter even though I knew it was a software problem because the wireless works on a live boot Ubuntu and as a last resort I have reinstalled Windows and installed all the proper drivers but still nothing. Any thoughts on what I could be missing or some suggestions?

Hello,
I keep having wierd issues with my internet. When I am at home, my wireless works for days on end, then crashes and says it has limited or no connectivity, cant renew IP adress etc...
The thing is, I compared the settings to a computer on the same network and the internet connection settings are identical. One more thing, whenever I am connected to the wireless in my other home, it never crashes...ever. My temporary quick fix when my net crashes is i restart the router, and everything works fine again, but this situation happens too often for my liking. Anyone have similar situations/know any solutions to the issue?
Thanks a bunch in advance,
Ilya

Hello all,

My friend is having trouble with her laptop. Specs:

Lenovo Laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
8.0 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000

She has been having issues for the last few days where her computer will lose internet connection. Her other devices such as her iPhone still work properly on the WiFi. Only the laptop is affected. She says it seems to happen after a half hour so of usage. She has to restart to get it to work again.

I used TeamViewer to remote into her computer and looked at it. It didnt look like anything was out of the ordanary. I ran virus and malware scans, ran sfc /scannow to make sure it wasnt Windows corruption. All of those came back fine. I try to update the driver, but the driver installer will show a screen for about 5 seconds, disappear never to be seen again. Which kinda leads into the next problem.

There are certain files and applications that will not execute on her laptop. They will show the error:

<file path> is not a valid Win32 application.

It seems to be random. I can download one file and it will say that, but the next one will be fine. It doesnt seem to have any rhyme or reason to it. Because of this I cant get the drivers to update, so it seems that I will have to fix that issue before anything else.

Any ideas on this one?

A:Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000 Issues

The problem might be with the laptop, but the solution might be with the WAP - Wireless Access Point (router?).

You might check to see what channel the WAP is using and if it can be set to use one protocol (as opposed to b/g/n).

See the bottom of this post...
Basic Requirements Before Posting your Networking Thread
...for info on the Xirrus app.

Once the connectivity issue is resolved, we can look into the file execution (corruption?) issue.

Using System Update, I am notified of a Critical Update:?Proceeding with the update, it performs a reset however, does not successfully complete - i.e., all steps are completed but device driver is not updated and the update re-appears in the System Update repeatedly.I also visited the Support page for my device, downloaded the package manually and attempted to complete installation (as an Administrator), unsuccessfully.  The install reaches the point where it seeks a Driver Installation Package and continuously fails, regardless of where the Setup files are placed.  I've posted a sequence of screenshots below.????Please advise of solution as I experience the same endless loop of unsuccessful updates with other Intel updates via the System Update Tool.

Hello, Wireless functionality was lost on my HP Pavillion dv7t-6c00 laptop when I upgraded to Windows 10. Here's what I have in my laptop now: Manufacturer: Intel CorporationDescription: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030Driver version: 15.11.0.8 I've read some support threads on this topic and it seems that this wireless card is not supported by Intel in Windows 10. I've also read that one suggestion is to replace the wireless card with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card. I tried to replace the wireless card prior to upgrading to Windows 10 with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card but the wireless card I purchased seemed incompatible with the laptop, as it gave me a Halted screen when I started up the laptop.  So my frustration is I would gladly and easily replace the wireless card but I can't keep purchasing cards that are incompatible with the laptop. What are my options?  Is there a specific/guarenteed HP Laptop compatible part number that I can purchase?   Even better, is there a link to where I can purchase a card that will definitely work? Thank you ver much,Chris

I just put together a new system... done it before, this is the first time that things haven't gone smoothly. Several issues, but I'll start here:

This is a Pentium D 950 on an Asus P5LD2 Deluxe. It runs too hot, as in 48-49C idle, and when I run Orthos as a stress test, I have to shut down the test because it reaches the upper-60s in less than 90 seconds.

Yes, I could (and probably should) get a better HS/F and thermal compound, but I don't tend to overclock, and as I said I've had no issues before. What really bothers me is the fan speed. At idle, it's 1100RPM more or less, and when I ran Orthos as mentioned above, it still doesn't speed up to even 1200 RPM. Aren't both those numbers rather low? Perhaps some issue with the thermal sensor for the fan?

Thanks in advance for your help and (unfortunately) I likely have a few more issues on the way.....

Hey, so.. This might sound a litle newbie but this problem is really annoying and I really wanna fix it. So I installed Win 7 and I was all happy, fresh stuff and all. Well the problem was when I started playing games and the fps dropped to 60. I know my laptop is not that good but I know it can run CS 1.6 at 100 fps. Anyway, that was not really a problem at some games but it sure was at CS 1.6, everyone that plays CS 1.6 knows that having 60 fps at that game is really annoying. I realized that was Vertical-Sync ON, but at the game options there is no option to turn that off. So huh what to do? Yea laugh at my face I'm such a newbie but I really wanna fix this so yea.. Here's some informations about my laptop:

Hello,

I have a laptop dell xps M1210 with Intel(R) PROSet 3495 ABG. It has been working well for several years.

Yesterday morning I got an error: "Problem applying profile", then it couldn't been connected.

I did a lot of things.
1) Update the driver from 10.5 to version 12.1
2) Make sure "Wireless Zero Configuration" service started.
3) Uninstall the wireless adapter and reinstall it.
4) reboot the machine.
....

It is not working today. The error becomes "Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter.".
By checking the device manager for connectivity, everything looks good.

One thing I must mention is sometimes I got an error that is "Microsoft Help and Support Center has encountered a problem and needs to close...."

The detail is Error signature

Hello!

I will start this off by freely admitting I'm not great with computers and usually don't know what I'm talking about.

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop.
I recently wiped it clean and installed Windows XP, and have not been able to connect to wireless internet ever since.
I used the Acer website to download the drivers, extracted all the files, etc.

When I open Intel PROSet/Wireless, I get an error message that it is "unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

Also, Intel PROSet/Wireless does not appear on my Device Manager. (The only things that are listed under "Network adapters" is 1394 Net Adapter and Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet.) I feel like that's probably part of the problem, even if I'm not sure why, haha.

What can I do to get my wireless access back?

Thank you.

Dear all,

I thought I have met this problem before before my two wireless adapters both stopped working.

PCI-E INTEL 5300
TP-LINK WN821N

My case is a little different from those I found on this forum.

1. When I upgraded my thinkpad x200 to win7 64bit, I don't have "Wireless Network Connection", but I fixed it by stopping one setting of Kaspersky and it came back, so when I first found my PCI-E wireless didn't work, I thought the same thing happened, although I didn't remember the details, I tried the Kaspersky, don't work.

2. I updated the drivers, uninstall-install, start-stop-start WLAN AutoConfig... I have done a lot that can be searched on line, never worked for me.

3. Tragedy happened, I adjusted several common options on BIOS, then after several tries I made to make 5300 work, USB wireless died Don't know how to recover it, and back to my laptop again.

Could anyone here help me out? Really appreciate it! I have spent two days on this stuff, if no one can do this, I guess the only way is to reinstall the OS, that's the least thing I want to do.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Unavailable wireless adapters have all zero Mac addresses, also can't be found in control panel.

I bought a toshiba satellite m45-s2692 on April 2, 2006.
It has an intel pro wireless 2200bg adapter - driver v 9.0.1.9
I have it connected a netgear wgr614v5 router.
it has a problem maintaining a constant speed. I watched the network monitor on the notebook and it always shows a "connection excellent" however, the speed is not constant - it will vary from 1mbsp to 54 mbsp - but seldom does it maintain the 54 mbsp.

on 4/20/2006, I sent the machine to toshiba - they replaced the network adapter - or so they said, and wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the original software.
I rec'd the machine back and find that the problem has not changed - it still will not maintain a steady speed so viewing files on other pcs on the lan takes forever and page loads on the net can also occupy too much time.

I have an older toshiba satellite with a netgear wireless wg511t adapter.
I have watched the monitor on that one and it will show connection excellent and maintains a steady speed of 54 mbsp. these two machines can be sitting side by side or in separate rooms and still the old one will maintain it's connection and speed but the new will not maintain the speed.

I called toshiba up again, and they want to say it's my router. I explained to them that another toshiba on the same network does not faulter -- so how can it be the router?
they didn't want to, but they are "granting" me service to send the machine back to them again. I haven't... Read more

Today, its going crazy.

Randomly, my laptop will make this noise from the speakers, kind of like a bump (not very sure how to describe it) and the volume is either off or especially louder. If a song or video happens to be playing in WMP, it freezes the file and stops playing.

Hi, sorry for the vague title. For a while now, my HP Pavilion has been behaving weirdly. It turns off at random (it doesn't shut down - the screen just suddenly goes black as if there's been a power cut or something), and then it just turns on from scratch, being extremely slow to open anything. It has done this for several months now. I initially thought it was getting hot as the fan was whirring around a lot, but the computer did not feel very hot at all. Another issue is that when I hibernate my computer overnight, sometimes, it turns on at random. I've been woken up at two/three AM several times because of my computer deciding to turn on for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Thanks in advance - I've lost many hours of work over this!

Not really sure, but I take it you mean you're experiencing random disconnections? First thing I'd do is get in touch with my service provider and have them send a tech guy over. It just might be that the problem lies with outside facilities.

Or you may want to change the power settings on your wireless adapter to "Maximum Performance." You can do that by going to Control Panel, then System and Security. Select "Power Options". Click on "Change plan settings" beside your selected plan, then go to "Change advanced power settings".

Look for -- and expand -- "Wireless Adapter Settings". You should be able to scroll down and choose "Maximum Performance" from there. Click "Apply".

You can, of course, always undo the change if it doesn't work.

So, I currently have my BT HomeHub5 running the wireless signal only. Long story short, BT set the wireless up `remotely` as I was in a bit of a rush on connection day and didn`t want an unnecessary call from an engineer I may have been charged for. So I had no choice but to set up wireless to use my broadband.

Anyway, I bought a 50 metre Ethernet cable off Amazon this morning as my laptop is plugged into the wall (no battery used) and my Hub is down in the living room plugged into the single phone socket, so I can only use wireless to connect to my broadband (BT Infinity 1 fibre).

I now want to go wired only and turn OFF my wireless in windows 7. I will upload an image of my internet face which does have a disconnect feature. What I want to know is, do I simply do Start>Control Panel>System>click `Disable` to turn off wireless completely and do the same again to `Enable` it? Or is this too easy?

A simple (easy to understand) solution would be good because when my cable arrives next week, I would love to be able to get rid of wireless and plug and go with my Ethernet wired connection again. This was my original intention, then I joined BT and found that their lovely Hub5 wouldn`t connect through my internal telephone extension cable so I was stuffed!

A:Turning wireless On/Off?

You can't turn your wireless off per say but turn the wifi adapter off. If you want the wifi off completely, that's done on the router itself from the routers web-based page.

I have a dell insprion 17r n7110. I just put a new system on the LT and win 7 untima x64. In my device manager it says I have an intel centrino wireless- n wi max 6150, but it does not have a driver for it. I really do not know what it is...I think it is my wireless card. Any how I went to dell to find the driver for it and I cannot find a driver for those numbers/model. If it is a wireless card what should it be for my model and which driver do I need to make what ever I have in there work. Slowly I am putting all the drivers in place. Is there a program that will tell me what devices are installed or better yet I tried to get the data from dell and it is very elusive.
Can some kind soul point me in the right direction

Its a kind of wireless network thing. Sometimes its a little troublesome to install also, so persevere. If I'm not mistaken its a intel "in-house" wifi. Don't think I've ever had use of or for it myself. (But I do keep its driver(s) updated ) You can find it here :https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

Firstly, apologises I had no idea where to put this, so sorry if it's in the wrong forum.

Basically, this only started today but its happened about 8 times now, my computer is literally just turning itself off for seemingly no reason at all, regardless of what I'm doing, it doesn't give any warning at all, there is no "1minute til shutdown" it doesn't even go to the shutdown screen, the power just literally goes off.

The only thing that was recently changed is I installed some automatic updates (I had alot of them since I turned it so they download but don't install without me saying so).

But even then this didn't happen at all yesterday when I installed them, it's only been happening since this morning.

A:Issues with computer randomly turning itself off.

When it shuts down does it restart or just power off? Is this a pre-built machine (Dell, HP, etc) Which model is it?

It could be heat related or a power supply issue.

Good evening,

My laptop wifi keeps going off, everytime I start the computer or wake it up from standby.

It's the same problem as mentionned in this post:
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/1035200-laptops-wireless-capability-keeps-turning.html
... but that post did not include a solution.

The hardware switch is on, which turns the bluetooth on but not the wifi.
The only way to get the wifi back is to run the networking troubleshooter. After a while, the troubleshooter says "Turn on wireless capability", I click the button and I get the wifi back .... until the next time my computer goes to sleep or is switched off.

Thanks for your support,
YAG88

I am using an HP wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse keeps turning off. Pressing the connect button (also on the keyboard) does no good.
What works for a very short time, if at all, is manually turning the mouse off and then back on. But it soon goes off again. I am, meanwhile, using a wired optical mouse. Any ideas? Thanks.

My friend has a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I am not sure of the specific model. Also I think some of the hardware was put in after the laptop was initially purchased.

It has a built in wireless card, but it is not turned "on." When I try to connect with it, it says to turn on the wireless switch. How would I do that?

A:Turning wireless switch on

With my Dell the switch is the Fn + F2 key combination, with the F2 key denoted with a blue tower antenna icon. I think in another thread somebody said the switch on their Toshiba is on the front and is cleverly disguised to look like simply an indicator.

Hello whitelighter1972 and Welcome to TSG!

This seems to be an issue with Asus systems. Try uninstalling the Wireless Console 3 Utility and see if the issue is resolved. If you want to reinstall it, you can download it here. Hi there,

Firstly i hope i'm posting this in the right place, appologies if not.

I'm not a very techy person so i'll try to explain clearly.

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2735 running on vista premium.

I recently reformatted and installed a different version of vista.

how ever once this was done i had a few drivers missing. I managed to download all the ones i needed.

I have downloaded the correct wireless driver according to Fujitsu " Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection"

It is showing in device manager as all ok.

How ever in order to turn the wireless on i used to press Fn and F1. This has no effect now. I'm assuming this is due to the reinstalation of Vista.

There is another way to turn it on which is via windows mobility centre, how ever the wireless option is grayed out.

Does anybody have any suggestions, your help is appreciated in advance lol

Thanks

Craig

Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter

Hello,

For the last two weeks my laptop has been having troubles with its network adapter (Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter).

Every time my computer starts up from sleep mode or just a normal start up my icon in the bottom right hand corner shows a black box with a plug in it and says no network connection available.

I then proceed by opening up the "Network and Sharing Center," clicking on the "Change Adapter Settings" button in the top left corner, right click on the "Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter" icon and selecting "Diagnose."

The diagnostic runs and asks me if I would like to turn on my wireless capabilities, I click the "Apply Fix" button and it turns on my Adapter.

Hi
I have a Logitech MK 250 Wireless desktop. (KB & Mouse) The USB transmitter is quite small and sits neatly in the rear of the case. It uses AA batteries in both devices, which do last quite a while. They can be switched off by small switches under each device, although I don't bother unless I am not using the PC for some time.

The only problem I can see is if you are a hard core Gamer (I am not, just a dabbler) as they do tend to be slower for gamers (or so my grandsons tell me). But for most uses, I am very pleased with the kit, especially since I installed a TV Card in the PC. There are other manufacturers, but I have always been happy with Logitech stuff, it is well made. Check out this one:

Logitech UK - Wireless Combo MK260

?24.99, the successor to mine. There are others, in fact (EDIT) I read that there are more expensive ones there which would suit a Gamer. Hope this helps!

FURTHER EDIT: The MK 260 is available from Amazon @ ?17:98.

I noticed my internet dying randomly while watching youtube or playing a game and saw that my USB wireless adapter had stopped working. It still recognized the adapter itself by having zero bars, but didn't show either of my networks or any of my neighbors' networks as available. I tried switching to a different adapter, and even a different network, but it persisted, dying once every couple minutes. I can get it to work again for a while by taking it out and in or resetting it by the network troubleshooter, but it always goes out again in a few minutes.
I scanned with Defender already, and it didn't pick up anything. I also held it against my hand to see if it was too warm, but it seemed fine. It looks structurally fine, and nothing rattles when I shake it.

Hello

I have an Asus laptop with WinVista 32bit Home Edition, and I've been having problems with my wireless connection at home. A month ago I bought a wireless router and everything went fine for some days, although I had some problems when configuring my wireless connection.

Now, my laptop's wireless adapter light won't turn on, not even with the On-Off button on the side; keyboard shortcut Fn+F2 won't work too, and I've downloaded Wcourier Console; it worked for a couple of days, but now options appear greyed-out with a little red cross over them, and it won't work too (check images bellow).

I've tried everything from system restores to reinstalling Wcourier and updating wireless adapter's software, but nothing will work, and the most annoying fact is that sometimes the wireless light turns on without me doing anything and it works. Yet again, it can last for a whole day, but as soon as I restart the computer, it won't work again.

My flat mate has an Asus Win XP lapton and everything's fine with her connection, so it really isn't an acess point problem. My wireless adapter simply won't work.

Can somebody help me?

A:Problems turning on wireless adapter

Are there any settings in the BIOS to control your adaptor.
Have a look in device manager to see what is going on(look for those red x`s).
Try a restore from before it was starting to happen.
Restore the drivers from the manufacturers disk/website.
I suspect it may be a hardware failure.
Before taking it back backup all your data.

It seems to work fine sometimes for an hour or a day and then windows says it detects a problem and it seems to mess my whole computer up making it unable to shut down. I have looked at power saving options, drivers, the works and it states that the adapter supports windows 7. I am out of ideas and tearing my hair out. Any help would be much appreciated!

A:New usb wireless adapater keeps turning off with errors.

Welcome!

I can think of two possibilities.

1) You have corrupted drivers. Please uninstall your current ones and reboot, letting Windows install drivers automatically.

2) The device itself is actually faulty. If playing with drivers doesn't work, you may consider sending the adapter back to the store and get a new one.

A:Turning a wireless router into a repeater?

If the router supports it, then yes. If not, then no. Simple
You may be able to use some custom firmware like OpenWRT to get WDS support.

In any case, WDS does not support WPA encryption so your repeated wireless network will be much less secure.

Hi guys,

My wireless adapter keeps turning off randomly on my HP G60 120EM.

It will have my connection strength icon on the icon tray and then just randomly display an adapter with a red cross through it.

I have made sure that the adapter is not set to turn off on power save but still the problem persists.

I thought it could be the adapter being loose inside the laptop but if i give the laptop a small shake it doesn't disconnect and I opened up the laptop and everything seems fine.

This is where it gets a bit strange. If I close the laptop lid then open it again, the wireless is fine, but will drop off again about a minute later.

Any ideas whats going on here guys?

The adapter is an; Atheros AR5007

Got a really important job that needs doing and I can't do it with this happening

A:Wireless adapter keeps turning off randomly....

For when you have a connection and for when the adapter "turns off" ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 8 or 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Also show ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

hi,

Im having a problem with my laptops wireless capability; it worked fine, until i tried a hardwried connection (i went over to this center and tried one and it didn't work, so i unplugged it).

Now, I can't connect to any wireless networks unless i do the windows network troubleshooter, which it tells me my laptops wireless capability is turned off; I then have to click on the option to turn wireless capability back on..

I have tried playing in change adapter settings in Network Connections, but nothing is working.. I have tried disabling the LAC and wireless adapter but nothing is working..

I also notice under Local Area Connection that is says "Network cable unplugged". Also in one of the tables of the windows network troubleshooter it shows Network cable unplugged and wireless capability is turned off.. Is my laptop trying to find the hardwire connection all the time so it turns off wireless? How can i fix this :3

A:laptops wireless capability keeps turning off..

I also notice under Local Area Connection that is says "Network cable unplugged".Click to expand...

That's normal and accurate unless you have a cable plugged in. If you do have a cable plugged in probably the NIC or cable is defective. Although it's possible that the ethernet was turned off to save power.

I assume that you are using an integrated wireless adapter. What kind of wireless switch do you have, and is it turned on? Do you also have a utility that can switch the wireless on or off? If so, is it saying "on"?

I am having an issue with my video display on my computer. Everytime I'm playing a game, my screen will turn grey or blue. I then have to turn off my computer and turn it back on. This started a few months ago, maybe once a week. Just recently its occuring everytime I'm in a gaming program for about 5 minutes. I have tried reformatting my computer and using Windows Vista 64 bit ultima edition provided by gateway, I have downloaded the drivers on their support site, and it did not work. I have tried updating my video drivers from nvidia.com to the current drivers, however my comp turn blue or grey at the log in screen for windows. I then have to manually turn it off.

I have tried using Windows 7. I had windows 7 update my drivers. I used the video driver from the gateway support site, and still the computer crashes right when i join a game. Once again I tried updating the video card using nvidia.com current driver, but once again, turns blue or grey at the log in screen when turning on the computer.

I have contacted gateway by the chat function and all the person said it was a driver confict but couldn't do anything more since he was a hardware tech. They have a program where they were suppose to call me back, but they haven't yet. The driver I'm using from the gateway site is nvidia driver version 167.46. No other driver will work. So I have no clue what to do or what drivers update to remove this conflict.

HP Stream Mini

Windows 8.1

I use the Mini strictly as an HTC running KODI connected via HDMI to a 60 inch LG Plasma.

Everything runs fine and works well...until I turn the TV off for about 5 minutes or so. After turning it back on KODI will lock up and I have to kill it manually. When the Windows desktop comes up there's now an error about running out memory and another one in the Task bar about being low on Disk space. I assume this is related to the D: drive as most of the 7gb is used up for the backup partition. The C: drive has over 100gb left.

This happens every time the TV is turned off. If I just let KODI run with the TV on, no errors appear and the machine runs normally. It seems to me there's something going on with the HDMI port and how Windows react's to the signal, but I don't know if there's something I can check or a setting I can change?

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS M1530 which ran Windows Vista 32 bit OS. I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 OS and everything works fine except the following:

Whenever I restart/ shut down/ put my laptop to sleep; the next time I turn it on, the wifi driver does not get switched on and I need to restart my laptop again. After restarting the 2nd or 3rd time, the wifi functions properly. This is really frustrating as I cannot put my laptop on sleep mode since whenever I turn it on again, the wifi does not turn on. Only solution is to keep restarting my laptop till the wifi starts working again. This depends on my luck as sometimes the wifi starts working on the 1st restart while sometimes it takes 4-5 restarts to get it to work.

Some help to resolve this issue would really be appreciated.

A:Wireless driver not turning on when restarting Windows 8

This may not be appropriate in your circumstances but, when you first install, you have the option to click the internet icon and then you see the available connections. This, of course, includes yours. Alittle over to the left and down, I think, is a small box which says "connect automatically". Presumably you did that?

For a day now I have had the following issue with my wireless internet connection:

It works fine, I can access wireless internet with a tablet or other device, but as soon as I turn on my laptop, the router light switches from blue to red and I have limited connectivity and can't use the wireless network anymore with ANY device. The problem is resolved when I turn off the laptop and give the router a power cycle, but when laptop is turned on again - same issue. Internet works on a laptop when I hook it up directly to the modem through a wired connection.

Windows network diagnostics shows me a problem with reaching the DNS server when I run it with the broken wireless connection on.

Can anyone help with this issue? I can't seem to find it described anywhere. Thank you!

After pulling it out alot, and putting it back in it would suddenly work and be back to normal. After about a week it completely died though, and we replaced it with a new one of the SAME MODEL. We plugged it in and it worked fine, but just today I expeirienced the same problem! The light doesnt go on anymore and it doesnt work in any of my USB's but my webcam and other things do.

My computer has "safely remove hardware" up, but it doesnt work when I tryand remove the D-link. It waits for forever and never tells me I can remove it, as it stays in the same process for hours and hours. Re-instaling the program that goes with it doesnt do anything to help, I've tried

Hello, I installed Win8 a few weeks ago, and I have had quite a few problems, but most I have been able to figure out myself. Now, however, I have an issue that doesn't really cause any cataclysmic problems, but it sure is irritating. Consistently, when I turn on my PC, I can connect wirelessly to my home network, but after anywhere from a few seconds to ~30 minutes, I lose connection and the little icon in the bottom right corner of my monitor becomes the symbol that I believe denotes I am connected via a wired connection...which simply is not the case. I then have to open the "change adapter settings" page and manually restart my WLAN card, then use the "diagnose" feature, and every time it finds that "the Windows wireless service is not running on this computer." I then fix this and all is hunky dory once again...but not for long. After another few seconds to a few minutes, the same exact happens again. Then again a third time. It is always exactly three times.

So, what exactly is going on? Is the wireless service crashing, or just turning itself off? I have a couple of different distros of Linux also installed on this PC, and I don't have any similar problems there, and when the signal is working it is strong. This also happens when I move my computer anywhere else, even right next to the router. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Problems with Windows wireless service turning off

Could you please go to services.msc and verify that the WLAN AutoConfig service is running? If not then please start the service to see if that solves your issue. Also could you go to the properties of that service and verify that startup type is set to 'Automatic'

Services - Start, Stop, and Disable in Windows 8 - Follow option one of this tutorial only but replace any service reference with 'WLAN AutoConfig'

Hope This Helps,
Josh!

I get the same results he shows in the screenshots and it shows up as running. Problem is when I try to connect to it from another device it gets stuck on "Authorizing..." and gets stuck in a loop trying to connect.
If I retype "netsh wlan show hostednetwork" while its trying to connect it shows my device.
Some screenshots:

While my phone is trying to connect and is stuck on "Authenticating...":

EDIT: Oh also I think its worth noting that I'm trying to share my WiFi connection. I'm not using Ethernet at all.

So WiFi connection > wifi hotspot is what I'm trying to do.

A:Turning laptop into wireless access point not working

Hello,

Try a refresh turning off the wifi on the device then back on, can sometimes hang.

I've tried that too and I also didn't always got the command line correctly the first time.

Now I use Virtual Router Plus and it gets the job done faster.

When something during connection fails, try again.

A while back, I had trouble because my DSL modem was also a router and it wasn't communicating correctly with my Linksys wireless router:

http://forums.techguy.org/networking/736978-solved-network-troubleshooting-ddns.html

I tried some stupid stuff like DDNS, which obviously wasn't a correct solution. On the 2nd page of that thread, you can see a description of turning my 2nd router into a wireless access point instead of a router. I succesfully did this, but now the interenet is VERY VERY slow (unbearably), even while using a wired connection.

The signal I had while using the Linksys as a router was fine when it worked, but very erratic. I figured I'd try using the Linksys as a wireless access point and then it became very slow. Should this be happening? Should I see such a decrease in performance?

A:Solved: Turning router into JUST a wireless access point

What speeds do you get when connected directly to the DSL modem/router?

What speeds do you get with the same computer connected to the Linksys via ethernet?

Use something like http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ to test.

If they are not about the same a cable is bad, a connection is bad (loose, oxidized) or the ethernet switch part of the Linksys is failing. Of course, try different ports on the Linksys.

I just want to start off by saying thanks to all of you at bleepingcomputer.com

I also want to say it's been a long time since I've been here, which in a way is a good thing seeing as I've been able to diagnose and solve all problems on my own...until now.
I have a 2007(?) Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installed for quite a while now and it's been working fine. However, a few days ago the wireless stopped working.

I've checked the Device Manager to see if there was anything wrong with the driver, and there wasn't any red X's or yellow exclamation points. I uninstalled it anyway, shut down my computer, and rebooted. Driver is reinstalled but wireless card isn't picking up any networks.

When I hit Windows Key + X, it brings up the Windows Mobility Center and under the Wireless Network box, the button to "Turn wireless on" is greyed out. Weird.

As it stands now, the ethernet port still works and when I have it unplugged, the icon shows the wireless bars with a red X in the corner.

I've disabled my Avast! anti-virus program as well. It is not running after I rebooted my computer again.

Also, going to cmd and typing ipconfig shows the "Media State....Media Disconnected".

I have also taken my laptop apart using the Dell Support Guide, checked the connections, and nothing looked any different from previous teardowns (when I have had to clean the fans).

If anyone has any more ideas I ... Read more

Hi nmorrisonaz,

Not sure If any malware can do that.

But please do this. Click here to download Hijack This. Run Hijackthis.
Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

*Note: When you download Hijack This Do Not download it to a temp folder or to the desktop. Create a permanent folder somewhere like in My Documents and name it Hijack This and put it in that folder.

I seem to be having quite a bit of trouble with my asus laptop lately.
It started with a hotspot virus that kept redirecting my webpages, my virus scanner seems to have stopped that now but Im wondering was this what started it.

Iv also started using a lan cable. These are the only two new things I can think of.

SO when I use my wireless ( I alternate between this and lan) it keeps turning off and error comes up wireless capability is turned off so I have to turn it back on.

Then I noticed some of my programmes stopped working my photo editer ACDsee, windows media player, adobe reader and java. When I try and reinstall them nothing happens and there is all kind of errors, sometimes they just stop installing and I get no error. So I am now without all these programmes.

I just started an online course and couldnt run blackboard today due to an error about java but yet I cant download java.

I used system restore as far back as I could but it was only 3 days and it didnt work. Not sure what to do now as Im totally baffled

I would tend to beleive that HP's telephone support technicians in what sounds like india don't know and they're looking it up in their data-bases.  I believe the HP databases to be incorrect.  The best option is to remove a stick and see exactly what the label on the Memory Stick says, and then buy bigger sticks of the same RAM as in the computer.  I have 3 sticks to try,   DDR3 - 1066 MHz,  DDR3 - 1333MHz  & DDR3-1600MHz.  i think it's the

I am totally obsessed with downloading music, but awhile ago I attemped to download an upgrade to the basic Kazaa system. Once I had fully downloaded the upgrade I went to click on Kazaa and a message popped up saying," You have uninstalled a part of Kazaa needed to run and to close and reinstall." (I believe it was called error 1030, I'm not positive though) Anyway, I uninstalled Kazaa and reinstalled several times and the same message keeps appearing.I checked to make sure I had all the needed componets to run Kazaa aswell. I can't figure out what to do. I tried other music sources but I can't find one I like as much as Kazaa. If you know what I should do please HELP!!

A:Kazaa Error 1030, any adivse?

What I would do is:

1. Use a spyware scanner to delete all the spyware that comes with the Kazaa download
2. uninstall Kazaa using the JV16 power tool
3. Do a file search for Kazaa and delete all of the files that are found.
4. Backup the registry
5. Use Jv16 power tool to clean the registry.
6. If you want to and are brave enough, do a manual search for useless Kazaa keys in the registry (be sure to have a backup if you do this)
Reinstall the latest Kazzaa with all of its Spyware. (Perhaps you might want to try Kazaa Lite)

Hello, we have recently purchased several HP Elitebook 1030 G1 notebooks. These come with Windows 10 out of the box, and no discs at all. HP seem to offer a Windows 7 recovery disc via drivers & downloads but this only seems to be for drivers and applications post-Windows 7 install. We still use Windows 7 (Enterprise x64) deploying via SCCM. As the laptop doesn't have a LAN port HP support suggested getting an HP USB-C to Ethernet adapter, but this doesn't seem to help with PXE boot. So moving onwards, I then attempted to do a manual install of Windows 7 x64 via USB. Initially it didn't even boot without turning off secure boot and turning on legacy boot. As the laptop has an M.2 ssd it is not even found by the setup process. I have now gone through adding sata and usb3 drivers via dism to boot+install wim's and also an MS hotfix for NVMe support (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941). Unfortunately after all this it is still not able to see the hard drive. Unless I am going blind I cannot see any information about this on HP Support. Has anyone done this on this model notebook or similar (ie M.2 ssd)? Thanks

Hi, I hope someone out there can shed a little light on this situation as it's doing my nut in!

We have a network with 3 Windows 2003 servers and workstations all with XP. When the users log in a script runs which maps network drives and pushes printer connections etc. Also we have several group policies set which restrict pupils and staff in certain ways. Nothing drastic though. Just 'Cant see certain Control Pannel Items etc'.

Now all was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago 2 staff members came to me and said "I can't get on the interenet or e-mail". I had a look and when they logged in on their normal computer it seemed to log in fine but then receieved a couple of "Cannot perform this action due to restrictions on effect on this computer" messages. This message also appears when they try to click on the Internet for example. On closer inspection it has run the scripts ok because I have the shared drives and printers. But the virus scanner which is sophos in our case hasn't loaded (it comes down from the server), also there is no All Programs in the start menu, or shut down.

If I log off and check the event viewer I have event 1030 there which refers to an error with group policy.

Now the most annoying problem is it appears completly random with it's timing. Usually a shut down and restart of the computer fixes it. Moving to another computer can also fix it. It dosent always do it on the same computers, other peolpe can log on to ... Read more

Hello everyone;

I recently built a system to the following specs;

Intel DP45SG M/B
Intel e7400 Core 2 Duo CPU
2x 1GB DDR3 Kingston 1066MHz PC3-8500 RAM
MSI 8400GS Video Card
Seagate 500GB SATA2 HDD
LG Optical Drive
Earthwatts 500W PSU
Windows Vista Business 32 bit

System build went ok, although from first boot forward and consistently, the board issues a short beep prior to POST and one long beep immediately afterwards. There is no indication of this being an error anywhere. Removed 1 stick of RAM, same thing, swapped out for the other, same thing, took out both and the system won't boot at all (i.e., no POST). I am not having any device manager flags come up and nothing in the BIOS event viewer to indicate an error.

Anyone facing a system that works but still likes to beep at you?

Thanx.

I gave Windows 8 a chance on my HP Envy 4t-1000 ultrabook back in the winter. It ran well, but had issues with the TouchPad. I went back to Windows 7 for the time being. Recently, I noticed driver updates for my laptop for Windows 8. I did a clean install, and everything is running great now, except I still had to use the .inf hack to get working USB 3.0 drivers on the Intel controller.

Those steps were found here: Windows 8 and Intel USB 3.0 Host Controllers | Plugable

I had to do this back in the winter, so I'm amazed that this situation hasn't been resolved at this point. Maybe it has, and I'm just not finding it. There's no USB 3.0 drivers from HP for Windows 8. Are there working drivers straight from Intel that don't require any editing? The issue is, with native Microsoft drivers, USB 3.0 devices fail to be detected. USB 2.0 devices work perfectly fine.

A:Intel USB 3.0 issues still not fixed???

The issue could be related to hardware and/or hardware configuration, as stated by Intel:

The Intel Windows 7 USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver, released in March this year, fixes most Standard Intel systems to run Windows 8; however, the USB 3.0 device may not be compatible if it is not supported in Windows 8. Intel still has no driver for Windows 8.

Hello,
So, I've got two separate, but somewhat related issues. One has been going on for a year and still hasn't been resolved (posted about it before) but I have some updated info, the other one is new.
AsHere I go ....

1. Can't Connect to the Internet
I all of a sudden could not connect to the internet. As my wireless isn't working currently, I used a wired connection. I am using that wired connection right now on my work computer that I am messaging from, so I know it isn't a modem/router issue. I have removed all the anti-spyware that I had and only installed Avast!, I re-installed all the drivers, and I contacted my internet provider. In troubleshooting with the internet provider, we tested the ping for www.google.com, which didn't work, but when we pinged the numerical ip address, it did. The same thing happened when I opened my browser. The representative said that the IP address was not being resolved by the DNS (is that correct)??? Anyways, that's where I am at - how do I resolve it so that the IP address is resolved?

2. First, for some extra background, please see the thread from a year ago that I had posted:

The video card in my Pavilion h8-1030 died and I need to find a replacement. If possible, I'd like to upgrade the card at the same time to the best possible card that would work on this system, within on total $350 budget. Being overly optimistic and with a big dose of wishful thinking I had actually ordered a MSO GeForce GTX 970 , but before it arrived I read that it will not work as teh BIOS version cannot be upgraded to version 8. So I am sending that card back as soon as it arrives. I am unable to buy a whole new computer at this time, so I'm going to have to settle for a new GPU (and PSU if needed). I don't game but I do use Adobe CC 2015 applications, mostly photoshop adn lightroom but ocasionally also premiere and in-design. Before failing the old card was struggling with certian photoshop functions and video editing was slow and frustrating. This is why I would like to upgrade the GPU. Motherboard H-RS880-uATX (Aloe)Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1090TMemory 10 GBBIOS, American Megatrends Inc. 6.12 Is there a list of compatible GPUs? Thank you ever so much for your help.

A:what Video Card upgrades are possible for Pavilion h8-1030?

Hi, The version 6 BIOS in your PC is not compatible with many of the newer graphics cards.  You will need to use an older legacy graphics card in your PC.  The processor and memory in your PC are more than sufficient for most use. I suggest that you look for a NVIDIA GTX 660 for around $226 new on Amazon. You can find the GTX 660 on eBAY for a lot less.  You will also need to replace the power supply. The Corsair CX650m should be around $55 after rebate.

First up, hello everyone.

I have XP computers connected to a SBS2003R2 domain that is posting 1030 Userenv errors in the eventlog. I've not checked them all but three of them definitely are, so we can presume they all are.

Through Userenv.log, I've wiggled it down to two variants of:

USERENV(314.480) 21:50:37:892 ProcessGPO: CheckFilterAcess failed for <CN={C94DA5DA-A892-44ED-B77D-618A143ED5CC},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=[domainname],DC=local>. Filter not found

Followed by many of the following that correlate with the eventlog errors:

USERENV(318.868) 09:47:24:929 ProcessGPOs: GetGPOInfo failed.

My question is - whereto from here? OUs, GPO and the such is on the edge of my knowledge. It seems that if I can find what GPO is failing, I'm there.

A:Eventlog 1030 and userenv GetGPOInfo failed

I would suggest since you are apparently having troubles with a Small Business Server that you ask to have this post moved to the Networking forum here at TSG. You will get a better response there. You can do this by clicking the little triangle at the top right corner of the window and ask a moderator to please move this thread to that forum

I see the only difference between models that support ivy and not, is MB name Lavaca3SB[supports ivy] and LavacaSB[does not]. Is it the same mb and i can install Lavaca3SB's bios to mine LavacaSB board or this will not work that way?

Hi,

Please guide me how I can get a driver for my brother printer HL -1030 for Windows 7. I called Brother office in Canada and they say this printer is not compatible with Windows 7. Is there any other printer driver I can download and get my printer working.

Thanks in advance.

A:Brother HL-1030 printer driver for Windows 7

You should be able to use the XP drivers and install them in compatibilty mode.

Here's a link to the XP Home/Pro 32-Bit Drivers
Brother Solutions Center: HL-1030: Downloads: Others

To run the installer in compatibility mode:

Right Click Installer > Properties > Compatibility > Select the OS you want. (In this case, XP)
