I have Win 7 Home Premium.

Is there an easy way to disable my wireless connection so that (a) it does not enable itself after a reboot, and (b) I don't need to implement the complete process to re-enable the wireless?

Under normal circumstances, the re-enable after a reboot is fine. I can disconnect WiFi from the system tray, and it reconnects after reboot.

But sometimes, I might want wireless to remain disabled after reboot. For example, if I'm doing a database restore, and the database starts synching after a reboot (such as Evernote), it could cause problems :-)

At the moment, I simply switch off the router until the database restore is complete.
.

A:How to turn off WiFi so that it does not re-enable after reboot?

Just don`t let it connect.

Doesn`t the laptop have an on off switch for wireless ? Most laptops do.

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with one Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E145 notebooks. At first I was not able to start in windows the wireless but after multiple uninstall/install/update of the drivers I managed to do it. Still Windows shows WiFi on but in the same time off and I can't see any WLAN networks. The windows diagnose of the WLAN adapter shows - wireless capability is turned off The Lenovo Diagnostic Tools shows - Warning Hardware state is off I've checked BIOS, check the settings of the card and I don't have a hardware switch on the notebook. Is there any way that I could "reset" this lock or enable it somehow? Thanks in advance I forgot to add that the notebook is with Windows 10 64bit and there are not much apps and drivers for it.

Hi,2 weeks ago I updated my windows 10 (anniversary update) and after few days the wifi button does not tun on wifi but instead turning on and off airoplan mode and stays red (does not show wihte light). I tried various methods, tried updating wifi driver in device manager, uninstall the driver and then reinstalled, restarted the system, checked the bios settings to default, vistided various blogs, hp site for similar problems, removed battery, visited troubleshooting in control panel, installed old version windows 10, then updated the windows along with the drivers, and thus tried all the availble methods but invain. And there is no driver available on HP site for windows 10. Please suggest me some way to start the wifi working.

I upgraded my friends HP laptop to Windows 10. The issue now is I can't enable Wifi. The card is recognized correctly in Device manager and no issues is found with it. It looks like it is fine. However in the Network Settings WLAN is set to "Off" and when I try to turn it on it always jumps right back to off. eg. I can't enable it.

HP is now help as they clearly state any laptop bought prior to specific date in 2013 will not get any driver updates from their side for windows 10. (Guys, never buy HP again please...). And updating through device manager only tells me it's the newest driver available.

The Wifi card i Broadcom 4313GN card. I searched for win 10 drivers but did not find anything. They only offer linux drivers on their homepage...

So can anyone either provide a solution to the issue or link to a win 1' driver for this wifi card?

A:Dreaded Win10 WiFi Issue: Can't enable WiFi after Upgrade

I had a similar issue were I was stuck in Aeroplane mode on a cleanly installed W10. Turned out I had to uninstall it from the HID's in Device manager. It's worth checking that he's not stuck in it too. Search for drivers in Windows 7, from the HP website and you'll most likely resolve the issue.

Hi,

I have an Acer TravelMate 370 and i'm having problem in using its wireless connectivity function. The hardware is okay same as the driver. It is just that if I try to turn on the launch key for wireless LAN the LED doesn't lit up. And even if i turned on the wireless radio from windows network driver nothing happens. I still can't connect to our wireless network. And it always says that I should turn on the device before I could use it. I really need your help on this. Thanks a lot

A:Couldn't turn on Acer travelmate 370 wifi connectivity button

first off ring up acer tech support and see if they can fix it, maybe a defective wifi module (im assuming its inbuilt)
does it pick up any signal at all? maybe try another wifi network; or is it just dead? can you dig around bios and see if there's any thing to enable regarding the wifi, also same thing inside device manager

I was playing a game on my laptop and decided to switch from wifi to ethernet. I plugged in the ethernet and turned off the wifi switch to ensure it switched over, but later when I tried to turn wifi back on, I see the wifi on/off switch is grayed out.

I went to my device manager to check for wifi network adapter driver updates, but everything seemed pretty up to date.

Any recommendations on how to fix this? Or at the least another method of turning the wifi on, like through command prompt or something?

Thanks

A:WIFI on/off switch is grayed out

So to fix this what I did was hit the airplane mode key on my keyboard. The wifi switch in the pic I posted would stop being grayed out for about 5 seconds, and I had to switch it on in that time.

I'll note that flipping the airplane mode switch right above the wifi switch didn't do this, so I don't have a clue how it worked out.

Hi @Elbo  Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a fantastic place to find answers and tips! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More I understand that after you upgraded the network driver the option became greyed out.  You tried restoring to an earlier date but no change. Here is a link to Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) to help  resolve your difficulty. Did you obtain the upgraded driver by using the  HP Support Assistant   or manually download the driver? Did you get the driver from HP or the manufacturer? You can go to Device Manager and try deleting the current driver and then restart.  This  will  allow it to install the previous driver.  If you simply roll back the driver from here and it works, the next time you start your notebook it will install the updated one if it has not been removed. You can install the original wireless driver using the Recovery Manager. HP PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8)  Good Luck!

recently i was having major computer issues on my desktop, i did a full restore to factory settings and after doing a few windows updates i found that my network adaptor was not finding any signals. it does not show up in the change adaptor settings page or in the device manager page. when i troubleshoot my internet connection it says an ethernet cable is not properly plugged in. I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

Ad-Hoc requires that you restart the session each time.

Connectify pro has an auto start option that does this but it's a paid version, connectify lite is free but I'm not sure if has auto start.

Provided you have a WiFi adapter installed in your notebook, you will need to turn on WiFi in your notebook then sign on to an available wireless network.  I suggest downloading your user manual and reading up on this subject for more information. If you do not see any wireless networks, you may need to purchase a Wireless Router from your internet service provider.  If you do not have a WiFi card in your computer you will need to contact Lenovo directly to purchase a compatible card for your specific notebook.

Also - make sure you have a good anti virus software suite installed before you go online.

Good luck.

Hi Ruben_Palacios ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

First to make sure that Airplane mode (page 6) is not enabled, there is a hotkey on top of the keyboard with an icon of a plane.  Check if that would enable your wifi .

Else you can try to set the default of the BIOS ,
Access the BIOS by turning off the laptop and then use the Novo button (item2 page 9) on the left side next to power to turn it on. Novo menu would appear to offer BIOS set up , F9 to load defaults F10 to save and exit .

Load up windows and check if there is a wifi icon at the base of the screen.
Check also on device manager if there is any yellow mark or black down arrow  to indicate any need to reinstall drivers from the support website.

Update us how it goes.

Hi

I'm new to 7 (all my desktops are XP Home).

With XP, the OS just connects automatically to my home wireless network.

However with this netbook, I have to do it manually everytime I reboot - it's a real pain.

Not sure if this OS, hardware or both.

Can anyone advise ?

I've looked at services.msc WiFi service and it's set to automatic already ....

thanks

PS Also, is there a way to get 7 to boot straight to desktop, without having to click on user icon or enter password ?

The reason these 2 are important to me is that this netbook is basically a music server, so when I come in from work etc., I'd like to just power up the netbook then walk off and play stuff via my network (Squeezebox) players

A:Could not enable Intel My WiFi on my laptop

hi K. Sharath,

From this microsoft article, it looks like the Intel My WiFi technology is not compatible with the Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN card and is only applicable to certain types of Intel Wi-FI adapters.

To turn ON the Wi-Fi capability of the Lenovo Y460, you will need to:

  - Link to picture

2. Press Fn+F5 to enable the wireless card (ensure Current Status is set to "ON")
  - Link to picture

Note:
The Lenovo Energy Management Driver must be installed for the function keys to work

3. If same problem, boot into the BIOS by pressing F2 on startup and ensure that the WLAN Device is Enabled.

Let me know how it goes.

I have a problem, normally I press Fn and F5 to bring up the window to enable/disable Wireless Lan and Bluetooth. But it's suddenly stopped working and I cannot switch on my Wireless Lan. This is on IdeaPad Y580 running Windows 7. 1. When I press Fn F5 no window opens. 2. When I press Fn F6 my track pad is enabled/disabled as normal, although I do not see the notification on screen. 3. When I press the Fn and volume or brightness controls, they work perfectly, but again I do not notification on screen, the bars showing level of volume or brightness. 4. Also the One Touch Recovery and One Key Theater buttons are not working. But the audio Mute button is working. 5. I have uninstalled the Lenovo Energy Management software and reinstalled it but no difference. 6. I have checked the BIOS and Wireless Lan is enabled. 7. I also saw that in Task Manager I cannot see utility.exe running. This is really causing me problems, can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks, Dave.

If my computer is not right next to the router and is idle for a while, the wifi connection drops. I have to "Open Network & Sharing Center", "Change adapter settings", disable and re-enable to reconnect. It's not a router issue since all other devices connect just fine.

A:Wifi drops - have to disable then re-enable to connect

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if unchecking the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' box on the Power Management tab for the wireless card in the device manager, resolves the problem.

Why did you try "last known good configuration" anyway?

Any exclamation or question marks in "device manager"? And is your wireless adapter listed there under "network adapters"?

wifi icon is totally missing in taskbar?

I've just installed a wireless PCI adaptor (Tenda W322P 11N) in my desktop PC but I can't 'enable' it - every time I double click it starts to enable then stops and leaves it disabled with no warning or error messages.

The system is definitely seeing it as it's listed in Device Manager, and if I bring up Network Connections (using ncpa.cpl) it's listed and shown as disabled. Why would windows stop it from being enabled??

I've tried downloading new drivers from the manufacturers site in case the drivers on the disk were old - no difference. I uninstalled it and removed the drivers and then re-booted so windows would use it's own drivers - no difference.

It seems the system has a problem with it, but surely ONE of the drivers would work if it was a driver problem?

A:Windows wont let me enable wifi adaptor

the software driver on their site is up to version 4.
If you are running on the driver off the disk it may be problematic.

Hey guys,

There is a difficulty i am facing recently in my girlfriend's house only(in all other places it works fine).
I have recently established a WiFi connection for her to use on her phone. It worked great the first day. It continues to work perfect on her mobile. On my net book, though, i can not see WiFi access point in her house.

It appears randomly for several minutes, i try to connect, it does not want to and then the access point disappears for some uncertain period of time. From time to time it appears and works fine from than on but disappears again if computer goes to sleeping mode...

Do you have any ideas what could it be?

So. at random times my WIFI gets disabled and when I hover over the symbol it says wifi networks available. When I go into the network list it just goes into a loop that never loads the list.

the none of the network list services can be restarted/stopped/started and in device manager I can not disable/uninstall/re-install my wifi adapter.

The only way to re-enable my wifi is to completely restart my computer with a forced shutdown (hold the power button) because normal methods go into loops that never end.
In the past I did fix it for an extended period of time by downloading the most recent .net Framework, this seemed to solve the problem for months until now.

I'm on a Dell Inspiron 600m notebook computer. I reinstalled windows xp home, and I downloaded a package with all the drivers for this system.

The wireless card is a Broadcom 440x 10\100 integrated controller

I am certain that is the card in the system, and the installation of the driver was successful. However, the wireless network icon in the start bar does not appear.

In the device manager, the broadcom card is listed under "Network Adapters." However, under the "Other Devices" section I found a yellow question mark with an exclamation point next to the words, "Network Controller."

"Dell Wireless 1515 Adapter Device Not Found

I thought it cud be BIOS configuration problem. But cudn't figure it out.

Okay, it's now 13 Sep 2015 and I went around in circles to figure this out. I saw the same issues, to the point of knowing the driver was installed bu tthe Netgear tools never enable the WNDA3100v2, and one cannot manually enable it either. Also tried a USB A6200 device, with the same results. However, I did make this work, and it's kind of simple in my case. I was running the free Zone Labs Firewall & A/V package. And who's A/V package do they use you ask? Kaspersky! Kaspersky has a known issue with allowing proper installation of Netgear USB wireless adapters. So I followed the recommended guidense of a full uninstall of any Netgear WNDA3100v2 and A6200 drivers and software. Then a full uninstall of Zone Labs tools, reboot the computer, then reinstalled the WNDA3100v2 software. Followed the directions, recognition of the USB WiFi adapter was instant. Changed the device setting for being Enabled to auto connect if wired adapter is not connected, and here we are fully functional.Of course now I need to reinstall Zone Labs software, which according to the write up I read at Zome Labs, it should all just work now.Try this method if nothing else seems to work.

Atheros AR5007EG running driver version 7.6.1.204

Any ideas what I can do to enable wifi?

Hi.
I have an issue with my Network Settings.  As I try to connect to the internet on the wifi in our marina, the WiFi button turns itself off and I get the message "WiFi Turned Off".  I didn't turn it off.  I go to network settings and turn it on (slider button).  It immediately flicks itself off again.  I didn't do it, it just does it itself.  This really, really, really irritates me.  If I wanted something that made decisions for me I'd buy an Apple.  I don't want it to do anything except what I want it to do.  Using a Realtek adapter.  Had a look at the device settings and though there seem to be 4 copies of this in there, none of them are grayed out and all report that they are working.  Why I need 4 is beyond me, though.

Anyone got any ideas?

If I have a good internet connection, this does not happen.  However, most marinas have garbage internet and this is where it happens.

A:Wifi button keeps turning off by itself

My guess is you have a physical switch for wifi on your laptop that is turned off, which is forcing the software in the laptop to turn off. Also make sure you laptop has power plugged in or atleast is fully charged. If it only happens on battery power, I can show later how to disable power options which might be forcing the wireless to turn off to conserve power. What model laptop do you have?

I have an emachine E727 series and all of a suddenthe wifi button has stopped working. I have troubleshooted the internet options i have restared my laptop through power and through just preshing the power button and of course I've pressed the wifi button several times.

Does anyone have any suggestions of something i could do to get my wifi to work.

Thank you

A:Wifi button not working

The eMachines E727 laptop appears to come with Windows 7 Starter Edition 32-bit.
Is that the correct Windows version yours is running?

Go into the Device Manager, then expand the Network Adapters heading.
What's the exact description of the devices listed there?
Double-click each one to open its properties window.
Does it show each one as working properly?

If that laptop's built-in wireless device has stopped working for some reason, the easiest solution is to install an external USB wireless adapter.

Hello lovely people. I`ve had my 7535g for 9 months now and after 2 dodgy months at the start all is pretty good.

However, one of the reasons for my getting one was that it came with an upgrade to windows 7. Unfortunately it`s the 32 bit home edition. So not only do I have a reduced version but my system is 64 bit.

Having already suffered and bested the upgrade to 7 before I feel ready for this.

There are a couple of issues that I`ll have tho so I`ve come here for some advice.

The 7535g is pretty standard apart from a user programmable button above the kboard and 3 user buttons to the left.

I found the software to install the programmable one, Launch Manager.
But the other 3, for wifi, bluetooth and backup, were installed by the original acer 32bit upgrade kit. These are the ones I need help with. When used they display a cool icon to notify you that they`ve been activated.

I`ve tried to get help from Acer but all they`ll offer is a set of disks for ?50 which contain the original vista setup and no info.

So is there anybody who`s managed to do it out there?

Here`s hoping, Stoo

A:Wifi button install

You are entitled to use either 32- or 64-bit kernel version with your Win7 license, no matter what Acer says. You only need to find a 64 bit installer for your version to clean reinstall from booted installer. It will activate with the Product Key on COA sticker which sometimes requires a robocall to MS to sort actual key from batch on sticker.

If you want to test 64 bit on that machine, you can shrink Win7 to install 64 bit from booted DVD to new partition. It will configure a Dual Boot so you can compare 64 bit up to 120 days: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html

I believe the only way to keep factory utilities like you want is to do an in-place Upgrade from Vista to see if it will carry over. If you have a Recovery partition on the computer you could try running it after backing up a Win7 SYstem image externally to see if an in-place Upgrade from Vista will carry over the utilities as it should. But an in-place upgrade is an inferior install compared to a clean install which can also be done with the Acer Upgrade DVD as we did here on two Acer desktops. And you'd be limited to 32 bit which is all Acer offers apparently for your model.

If you find that the factory utilities cannot be carried over in-place by upgrading to Win7, then I would make the Recovery Disks off the Vista factory install and wipe the entire HD to clean reinstall Win7 in whichever bit kernel you decide upon. WE can help you with that here as it is a speciality.

You're very welcome. The driver I posted should have worked as you can see from this partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted, so I don't know why the driver didn't install. ;;****************************************************************************;; IDs for X64;;**************************************************************************** %HP8188ce.DeviceDesc% = RTL8192Ce.ndi, PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_1629103C So...see if this works... Go to the device manager and click on the Controller di rete. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp57049. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Let me start by explaining what led to my problem.

I work for an electric utility, and we issue Panasonic Toughbook laptops to our linemen containing our mobile mapping and AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locating) software. They are all running Windows XP Professional SP3. Our AVL software requires an internet and VPN connection to our AVL server at the office (we currently use Verizon Air Cards and the Cisco VPN client to achieve this). Since implementing this, we have found that Cisco VPN and the Verizon Air Cards do not work well when the wifi network adapters are turned on (or enabled). When they are turned off (disabled) everything works nicely. We can't just disable the wifi NIC's and call it good either because our user's need the faster wifi connections to perform database syncs in the mornings (via hotspots inside each garage bay). Once they are all synced up and out of range of our wireless network, the wifi NIC's are no longer needed. Since the wifi NIC's and Air Cards don't get along, we have been having our users turn the NIC's off using a hardware switch on the Toughbooks cassis. However, some of our older models (CF-29's to be exact) do not have these hardware switches. Our solution was to create two batch files and place them on the users' desktops; one that turns the wifi NIC on, and one that turns it off.

This brings you up to my current problem...

Our user?s logon to a non-admin account and because of this, they do no... Read more

can you connect the pc directly to the router with a cable and then
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file to the faulty PC and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

Pierre73 I read your post about problems with your HP DV6 and Win10 and wanted to help. First, see if anything in this troubleshooting post helps: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet If that does not work, then read on ...I also upgraded an HP DV6 laptop to Win10 and had serious problems.  Since there are no Win10 drivers for the DV6 line, I though I was stuck.  But I did some experimenting and found out the real problem is that the Win10 Upgrade tool does a lousy job of detecting the hardware on the old Win7 PCs and find the right drivers from MS for that.  What worked was doing a clean-install from Win10 media.  That resulted in all the devices working!Since you already have Win10 installed, let's try an approach known as a Repair-Install.  This is the least destructive of all the Windows recovery functions and rewrites the Windows system files, including the drivers, leaving your data, settings, and applications intact. To do this, you will need to use the link to download Win10 installation media and either burn a DVD or create a USB stick: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10Note that when you go do download and build install media, the tool defaults to matching what is already installed on your PC (as in, Home for Home, 64-bit for 64-b0t).  While you CAN change these settings, do NOT.  If you do, the resulting media will be different and will force ... Hi
In HP laptop with Windows 7, there is a touch buttons to enable and disable audio and wifi. Now they are disable and touch buttons doestno work. No missing drivers in device manager, but they dont works because touch is broken.

Is there any way to active wifi and sound without these buttons?

A:Wifi and audio button broken. How to active them?

Did you just upgrade/install Windows 7 on that PC? If yes, its likely that the default drivers that windows installed lack the functionality to use those buttons. My Acer Aspire 5920 was like that initially. Installing the Acer supplied driver got everything working. Go the HP site and have a look at the driver downloads offered for you model. Start with the sound and WIFI drivers. If that doesn't work look for any utilities offered for control of media keys or something similar. My audio/media keys were actually part of my touch pad and didn't work until I installed Acers custom synaptics driver.

Hello everyone,  Since i got my Lenovo Y50, i have been having an issue rarely and i thought it would be better to try and fix it.I have had it on Windows 8.1 and now on Windows 10 also, when i start my computer, WiFi works flawlessly, but if I try and switch to another network on open the WiFi networks tab on the taskbar, it might happen that it kinda "freezes", meaning that it shows either that WiFi networks availalbe or not available but when i click on it nothing happens. I mean it doesnt pop up the select WiFi network window. And also if during this time i try to go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Settings it doesn't open it. If i plug a LAN cable in it the internet works fine but the WiFi button still stays the same. Doesn't even change to the cable connection one. Also this sometimes happens when wifi is working but i notice that the icon changed to the above mentioned (WiFi networks availalbe or not available) and when i try clicking on the wifi button nothing pops up, meaning again i cant change the WiFi on disconnect. Funny thing is that every single time this happens, a restart fixes it. Every time so it really doesn't make sense to me and it baffles me that this can happen. I tried reinstalling drivers, looking for stable ones, etc. nothing helps. I will provide a picture with my device manager Network Adapters tab, i hope it helps. Any oppinions are welcome.

I have a PC desktop computer and I thought it was time to upgrade from Win 8 to Win 10

However, after I upgraded it, I notice there is NO wifi icon at all (where I can type the username and password) and I even searched in the Network And Internet section area...

In contrast, I also have the exact same Win 10 computer in my other room and its showing the Wifi icon and its connected with no problem. (To be specific I am using the Apple computer but I use it as in Win10 bootcamp)

Obviously my PC has something wrong to it

I checked in the System and there is this yellow exclaimation mark under for
"pci simple communications controller driver"
and
"unknown devices"

For my Network Adaptor, according to what I see in Device Manager, it is "Realtek PCIe GEB Family Controller"

So I am not sure if they related to the problem and I can't update them either since I don't have the internet

Can you please help for my wifi icon solution? At least to appear so I can type in the username and password?

Thank you

so, anyone who knows WHAT to do?

Could it be the UAC that prevents Launch Manager to start?
I've read that any Vista drivers/programs should work fine in Windows 7 but that dosn't seem to be tha case or have I downloaded the work program? (But I don't think so)

I have had Vista on this laptop for almost a year now...and i't driving me MAD...it's good-looking but you just can't do anything...it's so slow and when you reinstall Vista it's ok for a while then things are really getting nasty...and I'm cleaning the system up regulary...I wipe out all thoose autostart options every program seems to have now days...but ok, when you look at the memory and stuff...you know WHY i'ts slow but hey..I only use it for writing and surfing the net...keeping software to a minimum...

Hello all. So a day ago my Ethernet wasn't working and I couldn't rely on a wired connection, so I looked at some fourms and was told to remove the Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet driver, which is what I did, and I restarted the computer. When I turned it back on I reinstalled the driver and the ethernet worked. But the WIFI did not.  So I looked up how to fix it and attempted to reinstall the driver and I also added another driver in the process. None worked and I've tried nearly everything to fix it. Installing a new driver, reinstalling, flushing dns, disabling and enabling the service, even reinstalling the BIOS, and tons of other stuff but I've had no luck so far. The wierd thing that happens is the WIFI option is greyed out but the Network Connections say it's enabled.  Also, in Device Manager when I go to the Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet driver it says "Device Not Started" Any idea what's causing the immense amount of problems I'm dealing with on my computer?   P.S. I won't be able to post for a few days, because of a trip and I cannot bring my computer because it's usless if I don't have ethernet. So please hurry because I will be leaving tommorow. On 8/8/16 Thanks, Brad

When I use Fn-F8 to turn off WiFi, the WiFi Function Button at the top of the keybaord doesn't seem to be able to turn it back on, even though it claims to. The only thing that turns it back on is to use Fn-F8 again. Is this designed-for behaviour, or is it a bug (not that it matters, but curious).

For info, the Function Buttons are shown along the top at http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Keyboar...zy/td-p/267999. It is also shown in http://web1.toshiba.ca/support/isg/m...lishManual.pdf, page 2-8, enumerated item #14.

I run Windows 7 on a Satellite A660, PSAW3C-047017.
