How to turn on wifi in Lenovo G510

Q: How to turn on wifi in Lenovo G510

Hi,

I installed Win 7 32 bit on my Lenovo G510 laptop and then installed all the drivers. Now I want to use my wireless Internet but can't find the way I can turn on the wireless on that laptop!!
I tried Fn+F5 and also F5 but it's still turned off. It says, "Wireless capability is turned off".

"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in Power Management is unchecked.

How to turn on wireless in that laptop please?

My Laptop's been fine for 2 years...when I'm on battery, I switch the wifi off via the switch on the laptop. However, all of a sudden, the Wifi won't turn on again! The switch isn't broken (I've moved it back and forth), and I've tried the software switch ( Fn+F5), but that doesn't work either! I dual boot Windows 8+7, and neither OS has wifi on. I've also tried uninstalling drivers/disabling the adapter via Device Manager, but no luck! I also went into the BIOS, disabled the adapter through there, launched Windows 8, then rebooted and reenabed the Wifi, and that didn't work either =(.EDIT: Windows troubleshooting says "Turn on wireless capability: Use the switch on the front or side of the comptuer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on this computer".My warranty ended over a year ago!Paying to send in the laptop for this would suck. Help!

How did you do system recovery ?
Was is just a system restore or a full factory system recovery using the novo button from initial back up ?
Was there any yellow marks on device manager ?
Any blinking link lights on the port connection of the cable when plugged in?

I have to have the headphones plugged into the audio jack BEFORE I start the laptop up just so that it sees them, if I for whatever reason disconnect the headphones while the laptop is on, it will switch to speakers and will refuse to detect the headphones again.

This is what I see:

The only way to get the laptop to detect them again is by restarting while the jack is plugged.
I've tried deleting the audio drivers, but Windows did NOT reinstall them upon restart, so I had to install them again via backup.

A:Lenovo G510 ignores 3.5mm headphones

did you use any of those 'deep uninstaller' programs to get rid of the drivers before reinstalling them?
tried a different version of the drivers yet?

if it isn't a software problem, then it sounds as if there's an electricity problem with the sensing circuit.
as if there's not enough electricity after the computer is booted up all the way to execute the switching between the speakers & headphones.

there might be some small drain from the rest of the motherboard even though there isn't enough for the circuit to work.
your motherboard might be dieing faster than it is supposed to.
if you can't get the software portion to work, might wanna get it to an electrical repair shop.
but, i wonder if the operating system has any files associated with the switching between speakers & headphones that work in combination with the audio drivers.
(because then you'd be trying new drivers all day into the night & it won't help until the operating system files are fixed)

My wife's laptop has some issues so I decided to take a look and found a couple of things. No wizard here, but most of them I've been able to fix except for the fact that in the device manager the SM bus controller is not reckognized. Now I've looked and found that I'm supposed to install an intell chipset driver, but the problem is that the install fails every time. As soon as it tries to install CSVer.dll I'm getting the error message that the file can't be copied. Anyone any ideas how to fix this?

A:Lenovo G510 removal of dust

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

According to your model's User Guide the replacement of the hard drive, memory or wireless card is considered CRU activities.  In otherwords those parts can be serviced by the consumer which means you can also remove the back cover without fear of voiding warranty.  Since the fan is now accessible when the cover is removed.... have fun cleaning.  If you use compressed air to clean,  remember to use short bursts of air as prolong blasts may damage the fan's bearings.

For your reference, here is a link to that User Guide......

Hi there,I seem to be having a problem with the touchpad on my Lenovo G510. I noticed yesterday that my touchpag settings were for some reason reset to default (sensitivity + no scrolling) so I went to the control panel to change them back. However, I can't find any touchpad options in the mouse section. I know there should be a tab called 'device settings' there, but it's simply missing. Device manager also only detects my USB mouse under mouse and other pointing devices. I tried restarting my computer, downloading the latest driver form Synaptics (didn't work, got an error message saying Synaptics device not found), etc.I'm running a 64 bit Windows 7.Any suggestions?

Hi , I have bought Lenovo G510 with Core i7 and 2GB graphic card. Today when i turned on my laptop, i see pink Line horizontally to lower end of my LCD of laptop. I tried updated the AMD drivers and intel drivers but it didnt affect. My laptop is out of warranty, and i Live in Pakistan. Is there any way to resolve this issue or LCD will be required to change ?

A:Pink Lines in Lenovo G510 LCD

Hi shanalikhan ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to isolate if the issue was due to graphics chip and driver or localized in the LCD and cable.
Connect an external monitor and see if the lines are there.
Check also if the lines are visible in the BIOS (turn on pc using the Novo Button instead of the power )

Update us how it goes.

I've worked on my neighbors laptop a few times before and never had an issue getting it back up to snuff. Now I'm having a heck of a time getting it to stop freezing and slowing down.

Specs
Windows 8.1 (x64)
Intel i5 Processor
6 GB RAM
1TB HDD

I've run adwarecleaner, jrt, and installed Ccleaner. I also have Avast Free installed which I run concurrently with Malwarebytes.  There are minimal programs on startup; no malicious installed software.  Windows updates and device drivers are up-to-date.

It will run fine for 5 to 10 minutes and then completely bogs down.  The cursor will actually freeze on the screen.  Proccessor usage hardly goes over 50% if ever and memory usage stays below 40% even after running a while.  Chrome and Firefox both crash often enough even after resetting and reinstalling them.

I'm not sure what else to check/do besides a reinstall of windows but I'm hoping I'm just forgetting something obvious.  I'd rather not reinstall if I can help it.

Hi ,I have bought Lenovo G510 with 1TB hard core i7I want to add SSD hard with it.How i can add hard. Is there any way to add SSD HardTHanks

Solved!

A:Adding SSD Hard in Lenovo G510

hi shanalikhan,

Looking at the bottom, the G510 only has one HDD bay.
 - Link to picture

In this case, it's still possible to add an SSD using the following options:

Option 1:
- Remove the stock 1TB HDD and replace it with an SSD
- Use a 2.5" USB SATA Enclosure to convert the 1T HDD into an external drive.
- To install Windows on the SSD, you can either clean install a retail copy or migrate the OS from the HDD to the SSD.

Guides:
- OS Migration (using Paragon Backup & Recovery Home)
- Disk Cloning (using Macrium Reflect)

Option 2:
- Remove the ODD and replace it with an HDD caddy. From this thread, there are users who have successfully done this procedure. The HDD caddy that was used is this item.
- To install the OS, you can follow the same guide above to either migrate or clone HDD to the SSD and make the SSD as the boot drive.

Greetings,I had a very good experience in solving issues last time I visited the forum. I hope you will help me now too.I have a Lenovo G510 20238 Notebook, Windows 8.1 x64. I always install drivers from the official website. However, when I try to install bluetooth driver it says "No appropriate driver to be installed". I have tried different versions of bluetooth drivers, and even changed energy manager of 8.1 to the version of windows 7 (It helped previous time). The bluetooth service is set to start automatically on  every logon. I even tried to install dual boot Zorin OS, because usually Ubuntu OS doens't need drivers. However, even it couldn't find appropriate driver. Neither bluetooth is shown in device manager and PC settings, nor it can be added through legacy hardware in device manager. I will be glad to share any additional information if requiered. Please help me fix this issue.

Hello everyone, after installing the latest AMD software for the Lenovo G510 (although I had not restartet for some while, don't really know if this was really the cause) and a subsequent restart, all browsers (Ff, IE, Chrome, Opera) failed to load any pages on the internet. Outlook too did not connect with the internet. After resetting the driver for the WIFI adapter (Broadcom) and after another restart I noticed that Outlook was able to get a connection and receive emails for about 10 seconds after system startup, but afterwards the connection was lost again, This led me to believe, that a program or service, which is started only few seconds after startup, is responsible for the loss of connection. I looked through the processes and services that were active, but could not identify any cause.Since I did not experience this before and could not find any help on the issue after some research I thought maybe someone on the lenovo forum had the same issue or knows how to solve the problem/ or knows of a workaround. In the meantime I tried to roll back/reinstall/update drivers for the Intel onboard VGA graphics, the AMD graphics and the network (WLAN) controller, all of which did not fix the problem. In addition I tried if to an ipconfig reset or DNS flush etc (netsh and ipconfig commands) would help, but it didn't. I also skimmed through the adapter configurations but could not find anything "suspicious". Best regards and thank you in advance!

Internal options for WiFi are limited to parts listed on the "White List" in BIOS... These parts can be found on page 88 of your maintenance manual in the overall parts listing.

Download your Maintenance Manual - Lenovo Support Site PDF file...

When I am looking at the listing mentioned above - the notebook can use oder 802.11B/G/N w/Bluetooth 4.0 cards, there are no newer technologies listed.  To take advantage of the newer WiFi technologies I would suggest using a USB attached WiFi AC adapter... They are small and easy to use, and you do not have to worry about whether or not it will be accepted by BIOS on a white list and it will cover everything from B thru AC.

Good luck.

Hello Community, I just installed Windows 10 on my Lenovo G510 which was running Ubuntu before.I downloaded every single driver off the Lenovo Support site and could NOT figure out how to make it work. I have also used the windows 8 drivers from the CD but it neither works in windows 10 nor in windows 8 / 8.1. After one reboot the Audio stops working at all. The device manager returns code 45 and does not show the device except if I let it show disconnected devices aswell. When uninstalling the Lenovo EasyCamera (without uninstalling the drivers) through the device manager and reboot the audio works just fine so there must be a driver conflic of some sort. Can you guys please guide me through getting this working on Windows 10? Thank you!

Hi!
I can not connect my laptop to the internet neither through cable connection nor wi-fi.

When I troubleshoot it, it shows two errors as below:
There might be a problem with the driver for the Ethernet adapter
There might be a problem with the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter

After trying these repairs, it says that none of them are fixed!

Can anyone help me with this please?
It'll be so much appreciated.

I recently purchased a Lenovo G510 laptop with Windows 8.1. I've had only one major issue with it, where I can't use the AMD Radeon graphics which should be on my computer. When I load up Speccy, only the Intel HD Graphics 4600 shows up; the same happens when I look for the AMD card in Device Manager. I want to be able to use my AMD Radeon Graphics though.

A:Lenovo G510 Graphics Card(s) issues

CCC Switchable Graphics

On computers with an Intel power-saving GPU and an ATI high-performance GPU, Dynamic Mode switchable graphics is configured using the Catalyst Control Center software.

To maximize the energy efficiency or if you typically use programs that have lower graphical requirements (such as word processing or spreadsheet programs), you do not need to make any changes to the settings in the Catalyst Control Center software. The computer uses the power-saving GPU by default for most applications. You can still run high-performance programs, videos, and games in default mode but you are likely to notice lower frame rates, dropped frames, and choppy animations and transitions.
Applications that have higher graphical requirements (such as 3D video games), work better using the high-performance GPU. Graphics intensive software, videos, and games run at their optimum settings using the high-performance GPU.
Using the high-performance GPU on battery power will shorten the battery's effective usage time. The high-performance GPU generates a noticeable amount of heat while running graphics intensive software and, to keep the computer from overheating, the fan noise increases with increased fan use.

To change the default switchable graphics settings in the Catalyst Control Center software, follow the steps below.

Click Start , type CCC in the Search field, and then select CCC from the search results list.

On the Welcome screen, click P... Read more

Hi, I've had a Lenovo G510  for about 18 mths. Not used wifi yet as I have a wired connection in my house. Decided to check out the wifi today but I can't find a way to turn it on and I can't find any wireless device listed in Device Manager. All I have under "Network adapters" - are: Qualcomm Atheros AR8172/8176/8178 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Also no "Other Devices" or Unknown devices listed either. I've tried scanning for hardware changes but no luck. Why can't windows find the wireless card? It was advertised as coming with a built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter. I'm on Windows 8.1. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. I'm using my Lenovo g510. Once I decided to obtain a better performance on my device by changing HDD for SSD. I wanted also to use both of drives so I bought caddy adapter like this]([click here to put my HDD and replace with my DVD-ROM.
My problem is when I enter to BIOS I can only see my SSD which is located in main slot.In device manager I changed storage controller from IDE to AHCII, reinstalled Windows 10.
Usually from coldboot (I mean when my laptop is turned off from longer time)usually there is no possibility to see partitions from my HDD in My Computer or device manager. Sometimes when my HDD partitions are visable in my computer and I will log off (close laptop) and strat laptop again the partitions are visable and I can enter to them, i can see folders but I can see files or I can see files but cant open them.
In device manager-> disk drives my HDD once is visible
once isn't.
I started to looking some guides in Internet. I tried to make a changes in regedit like in guides but there is one value which is not saving. HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV\StartOverride. When I change value of 0 from "3" to "0" and reboot the value restores itself back to "3".
I checked from some guides again and I tried to grant ownership to my account or something like this but it won't work (or I just did something wrong)
I don't know really it's hardware or software issue. Maybe it's too much memory for my laptop, maybe BIOS don't support two adap... Read more

Hello all, this is my first post here so apologies if it is in the wrong category.

I have been trying to repair a laptop for my friend that cannot boot up to windows. It is constantly going to Startup repair and whenever I try repairing windows with USB it always fails.

Now I am trying to access the bios to change the boot device to the USB drive so I can do a fresh install of windows.
Here's my issue, the laptop will always go into the startup repair mode without giving me the option to enter the bios.

Will removing the cmos battery resolve this? ( I want to avid this option as it means opening the laptop, since it is not my laptop. I may find it difficult even locating the cmos battery)

Any other ideas how I can access the bios?

- Edit -

The laptop is running windows 8.1 x64

I also get occasional blue screens of death with error message "Stop 0:0x0000000F4". I have re-installed windows, checked my drivers. Hard drive and RAM is working fine.
Is there anything I can do software wise? I'm using windows 7, 64 bit, 4th Gen OS. My laptop model is Lenovo IdeaPad G510.

The next time you're able to boot into your system I would recommend running CrystalDiskInfo to check your hard drive's health. It's a nifty little freeware application that I find pretty helpful. It has yet to fail me. Just google the name and you should be able to find the download site, it's usually the first result.

I have a Lenovo G510 running Windows 10, upgraded from 8.1 long ago.  I'm not sure if there was a recent update that caused this problem, but one evening everythings was fine, and I know because I fell asleep with the "Simply noise" website playing white noise, and when I woke up, there was no sound.  I tried all the normal fixes (reinstalled drivers in device manager, downloaded latest drivers directly from Lenovo website and tried them, restarted Audio Endpoint and Audiosrv in taskmanager, even went into regedit and checked that the value for the audio endpoint was correct, but made no registry changes) all to no avail.I was beginning to think that there was a wiring problem and was getting ready to open it up and look around, but decided to try something else first.  I put in my ubuntu live cd and restarted without installing ubuntu.  All audio works in Ubuntu. Speakers, headphone and mic jacks, and I even tried my usb>headphones/mic adapter and everything works.  I'm planning to dualboot ubuntu while waiting to find a fix in windows, but I've never had a dedicated Linux machine so I'd like to still be able to turn to Windows since I'm about to go back to school in a few weeks. Please let me know if there's a fix out there for this that I haven't tried, or if I need to post more information to check for other problems that may have caused this.  Thanks in advance! -Tronk

Ad-Hoc requires that you restart the session each time.

Connectify pro has an auto start option that does this but it's a paid version, connectify lite is free but I'm not sure if has auto start.

Hey Guys, I picked up a Yoga 3 just before xmas and its been running well until just recently. I have noticed that if I shut the machine down and then return to it later it will often not turn back on. Pressing the power button will cause the keyboard to light up but nothing else. After a random amount of time and attempts it will turn on. Whilst trying the light on the power button will remain on. I have contacted online support and they want me to post the laptop to Germany for them to take a look but this wil leave me without my work computer for some time. This problem is also random in that it doesnt always happen. I worry they will try a few times and not be able to reproduce the issue and post it back. Any one any idea of what it might be? I searced the forum and found similar stories but no real advice as to what it might be or a fix. I have updated the BIOS, which didnt seem to help.  Thanks guys

Hi guys, sorry to make two posts about the same thing, but I couldn't find a delete button for the other :S

Anyway, I have been looking at a Lenovo Z570 laptop for somebody.
It had a fresh install of windows and all drivers where installed and everything in that sense seems fine. The problem is, when you either try and shut down the laptop, or restart the laptop, the computer seems to power down as normal, the screen goes off etc, but, the power light and everything else stays on, and it stays in this state.

I haven't left it for a long time, to see if it turns off itself, but after about 10minutes, I just have to press the power button for it to turn off.

It cannot be software, as I did a clean install myself to see if it would help, and when the computer restarts halfway through the install, I again have to keep hold of the power button to help it through.

I don't know if this is a hardware fault, or could it possibly be a setting that needs changing somewhere?

Thanks in advance

I bought a Yoga 700 and after a couple of months it stopped charging and wouldn't turn on. When pressing the power button the light flashed amber a couple of times but that was it. I returned it for repair and the repair notes said the BIOS had been upgraded and it was working again. Unfortunately the person performing the repair sliced the top of the laptop with what looks to have been a Stanley knife but they didn't say anything. I returned it and got a replacement. Now, a few weeks later I have exactly the same symptoms with the new Yoga 700. Is this a known problem with the 700 because it seems too much of a coincidence? I'm probably just going to ask for my money back unless someone can tell me a quick fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. Yesterday I have dropped my 4 years old Lenovo B590 and I left it alone for a day. Today I'm trying to turn it on and I have a trouble with it. When I do it for the first time it says it does the Automatic Repair and Diagnosing Your PC, and then shows the Automatic Repair blue page with options to Restart and Advanced Oprions. And if I Restart it, it is then stuck on Lenovo first page and does not load further. So then I have to turn it off and on again. And there is Automatic Repair again. So what shall I do? Cause I have a lot of more or less important documents and it would be bad to lose them. Thank you in advance

A:Lenovo B590 won't turn on

If you have a data on the hard drive that is important to you, I would take your computer to a reputable local computer shop and have them try to backup your data.    It is possible that the drop damaged the hard drive, but the fact that it tries to boot at very all is a good sign, so there is a good chance that your data can be backed up.  In a worst case scenario, you may have to replace the hard drive (which are not too expensive), but it may be repairable too, but if you data is irreplaceable, I would not touch it until I had a backup in hand. Good Luck,

So recently my Lenovo laptop won't turn on after crashing to a bluescreen. I think the STOP code was "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION".

Is there any way to fix this problem?
My Lenovo one year warranty ran out so I'm screwed.

Here is the video for clarification. https://youtu.be/Dou7cGvE1rY

hay , i just bought lenovo y50 last week and very satisfied with the performance but this morning when i try to turn on my laptop from hibernate, the layer sudenly goes white so i decide to hard hard shutdown it but when i try to turnit on again it didnt show any sign of life ( layer and fan didnt turn on etc... ) but the battery charge indicate is on ... i read in the internet that we must take out our battery and push the power button to 5-10 second. but since the lenovo y50 has built in battery and im afraid to take the backcase open because of the warranty so i've tough . anyone can help me?

A:Lenovo Y50-70 wont turn on at all

Hello there, I just got the same problem this morning with my Y50-70. It suddenly turned off while I was working with Win7, just a black screen, power off. So I tried to power it on again and it failed, simply no reaction at all. The only thing working is the battery LED when the AC connector is plugged in. My Y50-70 is only 5 weeks old and worked without any problems until today ;-( I called the support at Lenovo and they told me to "hard reset" by pulling the power cable and pressing the power button for 20 seconds....no success at all. Finally after several tries I decided to send my Y50-70 back to Lenovo. It seems to be a hardware problem. Lenovo offer 2 years of warranty for the Y50-70, because of that I decided not to open it. Letīs see how long ist takes until I have my - hopefully working- Y50-70 back.Perhaps you have more luck than I.Greetings from Germany!

Hi to all! I have the notebook since one year and a half and this is the first time I encounter the problem. My laptop was charging and was ON. I took it from the table (still with cable) in order to put it on my knees and it suddenly switched OFF. When I press the power button a white light appears for a second and then disapears. What shall I do? thank you!

Hi all, my computer was 100% fine until I restarted after security updates. After restarting it never turned back on. I don't see any lights showing up either. I'm using a Lenovo and Windows 7. Even if there isn't a way to access the laptop, is there at least a way to access my files? I have soooo much business information on it.

I have a Lenovo Windows 10 laptop and yesterday the pop up keyboard started popping up every time that I try to type something.

It isn't the Windows virtual keyboard, that is already off.

Only started yesterday after a reboot, so not sure if it is to do with a Windows 10 upgrade.

Been going around in circles on this one.

Hi everyone, I have a H530s, it's about 15 months old but I only used it once or twice a month for a couple of hours each time since I bought it. So it has probably less than 50 hours use on it. About 3 months ago it wouldn't come on after I pressed the power button. Left it for a few weeks as I hadn't time to do anything with it. Tried it again but still dead. Opened it up, all looked normal, tried all connections etc. Still dead. The following week I was about to take it to a pc shop for repair but thought I would plug it in and try one last time, it came on straight away!  Powered up, done all the updates. 3 restarts for installs to complete, ran antivirus checks,  ran diagnostics,  all fine. Computer worked as normal. Next day, dead again. Got a refurbished power supply and swapped it over, still dead. Changed bios battery, still dead. Took ram and graphics card out and tried to power up, still dead. Fast forward two weeks, plugged it in pushed power button and it came on, ran all checks again, all fine. Edited photos, went online, all fine. Turned it off that night, got up and turned it on the next day and it came on first time. Used it as normal to edit photos for a few hours, turned it off when I had finished with it, tried to turn it on the next day and.... Dead again.  No lights, no anything again,  it's like it's not plugged in, so frustrating.  I've also tried different plug sockets and different power cables. Can anyone help... Read more

A:Lenovo H530s won't turn on. Help.

Hi stuartie007 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Seems only thing that you have tried is reseating the processor and reapplying thermal paste.
Usually it would help doing isolation and reverse check. Since wall sockets and cable are already checked too.

Would the Original Power Suppy work on a different board (or volt meter tested) using verified working power cables ?
Try powering on without the hard drive and memory . Any lights or beeps.
Check if memory and cpu are working on a different PC if available.
Check on the systemboard for any loose pins on capacitors , burnt marks , bulges.

Since most service center have available spare parts to counter test the device, it is only then that we can say probable systemboard / power port issue if not the other devices.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hello. I have a lenovo G50-45 which I wiped clean and installed Win 8.1 x64 on it yesterday. However I have run into a big issue which is I cannot find any way  to turn on wireless. Wireless worked fine before reinstall. Now the device manager doesn't even show anything related to wifi. I have installed Energy Manager but that hasn't helped at all. Wireless is enabled in BIOS. No drivers for wifi work either. I am stumped, please help me, this is a friend's laptop.Thank you!!

A:Lenovo G50-45 - there is no way to turn on wireles...

hi anabella1234,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're already installed the driver below then it's likely that you have a different type of wireless card installed

WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

This may also explain why you still have Network Controller entry in the device manager --which is your wireless adapter.

In this case, can you follow this guide on how to find the hardware ID of the adapter or send me a PM regarding your machine serial number so I could check the brand and type of the wireless card.

Let me know your findings.

Regards

I noticed on a couple of Notebooks I worked on had success in first turning Off Airplane Mode before turning Wi-Fi On would stick. Don't know that is normal but it worked on those. Also important is that most Notebooks have a switch or an Fn plus another Fx key [or maybe just an Fx key] to use hardware to turn the Wi-Fi on or off.

Hi, I have a Lenovo L440 and when I turn on my laptop, its take more less 5/6 secs to turn on the screen and show me Thinkpad screen. I compared my laptop whith a same model in my work and I saw that the laptop in my work turn on faster than my laptop (2 secs). Can you tell me if 5/6 it is normal or how I can improve this? I have the last version of the BIOS and I buy a SSD and it is frustrating that the laptop take much time in turn on the screen when windows start very fast. Thanks!,Mati

Hello all, just looking for some help. I am completely desperate at this point!
As the title states, I own the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 inch version (the one on this link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-yoga-2-2-in-1-11-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-5...
Please note that this is the version with the Pentium N3520, not the i5-4210Y! This laptop was purchased at the end of March.

Anyway, the last time I used this laptop was on Thursday. I used it to quickly email something to the desktop I was using. I noticed it had around 10% battery left, so I planned on charging it later that day.

I got caught up with some other school work and did not touch my laptop until Friday morning. I pressed the power button, but it did not turn on. This was not surprising, since I figured the battery had run out since the previous day. I plugged it in but immediately noticed that something was wrong. The Power/Charging LED did not turn on. The laptop does not POST, and it does not beep! The fans do not start up, and the screen does not even flicker. It is exactly as if the battery is not there. The charger and the outlet work fine, as they have been tested with another Lenovo laptop.

I opened it up to see if anything was loose, but nothing appears wrong. I am seriously scared that I will have to return this laptop to Lenovo. I have very sensitive information regarding my engineering work, and some private files from a company. Plus, I have all my N... Read more

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X240 that suddenly turned off whilst I was using it. It was charging at the time, and I'm fairly certain that the laptop itself didn't overheat. I've tried disconnecting the battery and ac adapter, holding the power button, connecting them back on and pressing the power button but nothing. It would be great if someone could give me some help, thanks.

I have already tried the solution in the other post but did not work. My laptop was working fine but then one day would not turn on or charge. The indicator light next to the power button never lights up now and neither the power or novo button work. I have tried holding the power while it was unplugged and charging but did not work.
