win7 bug with HDMI audio connected to receiver

Q: win7 bug with HDMI audio connected to receiver

Been trying to figure out a problem with HDMI audio out and "not plugged in error"

HW is a motherboard with HD3200 and ALC889A HD with latest drivers.

Using a HDMI cable i get HDMI audio out, but if i switch inputs on the receiver then back HDMI audio is "not plugged in".

changing resolution brings it back as default device.

Tested a backed up vista image with ati 9.04 and realtek hdmi 2.23 drivers and it worked fine changing inputs on the receiver.

The same drivers in win7 did not resolve the issue, so im guessing theres something in win 7 that causes this

A: win7 bug with HDMI audio connected to receiver

if you have an HDMI capable receiver I am going to assume you have at least a 5.1 setup correct? And I am also going to assume that "HW is a motherboard with HD3200" means onbaord HD3200?

If yes then I would suggest using either the coaxial output or optical S/PDIF output to the receiver as you are not reciveing 8 channel LPCM through HDMI.

As to your actual problem I am setup same as you, however I am not having that problem... is video still able to pass through to your TV even in the audio not plugged in state?

Last week my cable provider (Brighthouse) copy protected ALL channels.
Because of this I had to move the computer I was using to record my TV (using the HD HomeRun Prime and transferring the files to my NAS) to the TV I watch it on.
I am using a Sony 7.1 receiver with 3 HDMI inputs (PVR, Blu-Ray & PC) that has relays that switch the output between the inputs and to PASS THRU when turned off.
When the signal is switched (even just turning the receiver off activating PASS THRU), the video card drops the HDMI audio and does not restore it until I log off / log on or disconnect & reconnect the HDMI cable.
The computer is a HP HPE-460Z with a NVIDIA GeForce GT420 video card.

I have another PC (with a dedicated Radeon board) directly connected to a TV that also disconnects the audio if the TV is turned off & back on.

Apparently this is a common problem with dedicated video cards.

The computer I used to play back the TV before had integrated video in the AMD A6 processor (Radeon HD6350D) and left the HDMI audio connected NO MATTER WHAT.

Can anyone recommend a low end (<= $60) video card to replace my NVIDIA card with that they KNOW leaves the audio connected even when turning off/on a surround sound receiver or TV?

Thanks in advance.

A:HDMI Audio Cuts Out Upon Receiver Pass Thru Until Log Off / Log On

I'm not sure what is happening, however, if an HDMI cable is attached Windows will automatically switch the default audio playback device to the HDMI. It sounds like the PCs are detecting an HDMI disconnect and switching to the PC sound (Speakers) as the default audio playback device.

I don't think its a problem with the video cards, although I could be wrong.

BTW, I have Brighthouse too, but I have their DVR for recording.

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx laptop. TV is Dynex LCD (one of those no name brand ones ) I checked the drivers on the laptop, they all seem to be up to date. However when I go to Control panel-Sound-Manage audio devices, there is no icon with an HDMI label to select for playback device. How do I add the driver for HDMI (to select)?

I have scanned (and tried) numerous suggestions on this type of a problem on different sites on the web (including this one, under a different thread)

Any suggestions, other than try a new cable?
Thank you in advance.

Hi folks, so I got a new pc and connected it to my LG 42LV550T using a DVI to HDMI and 3.5mm from line out (and tried headphone socket) to the 3.5mm audio in (RGB/DVI) socket on the TV but I don't get any sound on the TV.
I connected the PC to my stereo using the line out and headphones socket with 3.5mm to stereo/phono plugs and I get sound, but I would like the sound through the TV and then the TV connected to my stereo for better sound all round.

I know DVI doesn't carry sound.

I had a chat on LG support with no help

I wish to connect the HDMI to a video projector and the audio port to a sound mixing desk. Either audio or video works fine alone but when both cables connected am getting high-pitched feedback into the sound system. I have tried disabling HDMI as an audio device but it makes no difference. Have tried more than one HDMI and audio cable - same result.

My headphone jack is busted, so I bought an HDMI to 3.5mm adapter so I could use my headphones that way. However, I can't get the laptop to send audio over HDMI because it doesn't think there's any device to receive that audio. How can I get Windows to route audio that way anyway? Everything I find is the opposite problem, where someone has a device plugged in and recognized but can't send audio to it.

I know this is one that has been floating around the forums for a while but I have not been able to find anything that works in my situation. When I connect my laptop to my TV (Panasonic Viera Plasma) via an HDMI cable, I can get the video to show on the TV fine but there is no audio on the TV; it comes out of the laptop. I have tried everything I can think of including deleting the drivers then reinstalling them, updating them, rolling them back, etc., etc., etc. Here are the specs on my laptop:HP ENVY dv7 Notebook PCWindows 8.1 64-bit, 8GB RAMIntel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHzIntel(R) HD Graphics 4000Intel(R) Display Audio (with Beats Audio)IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Also, here is a snapshot of the Playback Devices:  As you can see, I have nothing which says "HDMI". I've had my laptop for a while, and I've used my TV Screen as a secondary monitor a lot. A while ago my computer updated to windows 8.1 when I fell asleep on it and accidentally hit the update button when it came up (oops), making me have to use windows 8.1 now. Now I haven't had many problems with it, it works fine and dandy, but I do have a major problem when I try to use my second monitor. When I run a game or movie on it, the audio comes out from the laptop speakers, not the TV speakers. Previously, using windows 8, it would let me use both.

I know that if you go into the control panel and the sound systems that it should show two speakers, but for me it isn't. I've tried lots of different things and browsed the web for an answer, but I can't find anything.
Screenshot of my playback devices window:

If anyone knows how to get this to work, it'd be a big help!

According to your screen shot, you only have the PC audio (RealTek) and no HDMI audio. Reinstall the drivers for your video and see if that restores the HDMI audio.

No PC info posted, please fill in the "My System Specs". Helps us to try and help you.

I have both HDMI and PC audio on my Win 8.1 machines so it should work for you, if the PC is fully compatible.

Problem started a little over a month ago on my HP laptop running Windows 7 64bit.

When I connect the laptop to my either of my TVs through an hdmi cord everything works fine. Videos run smoothly and the audio is in sync as if there's no problem.

If I try to watch a video on just the laptop though the problems start. If I try to play anything (songs/videos) in Windows Media Player then it says "Windows media player encountered a problem while playing this file".

When I play a video on YouTube the video runs smoothly but there isn't any audio to go with it.

If I go to control panel - sound - speakers and headphone properties and try to play a test sound it says 'failed to play test tone'

Attempted to update the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC driver but windows said it was up to date. Same thing with the Intel(R) Display Audio driver.

A:hp laptop audio and video problems (unless connected through hdmi)

Are you leaving the HDMI cable connected to the PC when you try to us the PC's sound (IDT)? Generally, when an HDMI cable is plugged in and detected the sound automatically switches from the "Speakers" (the IDT) to HDMI as the default audio playback device and thus no regular PC sound.

I usually connect my laptop to my tv to watch video files in VLC. Recently, I have been noticing when I connect my laptop to my TV and play these video files, the audio skips so much that the video is unwatchable. This happens with every video I try to open (mostly MKV and AVI files). However, when I play these video files without the computer connected to the TV, they work fine. Could the problem be my TV or my HDMI cable?

A:Playing video files causes audio to skip when connected to TV via HDMI

In VLC, set a delay between audio or video, or for the mkv's you can demux and adjust them. First, I would update your drivers, is this a laptop or desktop?

Hello,

I have a PC a USB audio interface card connected. When I shut down the PC several times, I find the audio card is frozen until the audio interface card is restarted. I tested with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and Windows 7 Professional. This audio card freezing
occurred about 10 % after dozens of trial.
When I restarted the PC by selecting "Restart" instead of "Shutdown" however, it didn't happen until 1000 times of restart. I contacted the audio card manufacturer but they said they had not had this claim. I have one question:

From an external USB device point of view, does "Restart" work differently from "Shutdown" and power-on again?

Thanks in advance.

now there no more sound thru HDMI.
in the win7 sound settings the primary sounddevice is always the txnr 509.

if i directly connect the notebook with flatscreen the sound works! connect back with the av receiver sound is off!

another notebook for e.g hp envy 3000 works fine with the av receiver!

is it possible there is an prob with win7? all drivers are up to date activate and deactivate the sound device has not solved the problem.
try with other HDMI cables without effect...

i have no ideas what i can do to solve this problem only i clean reinstall all from factory settings. :/

has anyone an idea?

Try a "System Restore" back to a date when it did work properly. This MAY fix it.

I am connecting my laptop to my AV receiver via HDMI cable. With both streaming video (netflix, hulu) and various video formats, I am not getting any surround sound. Is there a setting in Windows 7 I am missing?

Thanks for any help!

A:No surround sound through HDMI to AV Receiver

Depends on the capability of your system. On SOME systems the digital or HDMI is only two channel stereo. Also, some audio streams are only stereo, not surround and unless your sound system synthesizes these to surround you will only get two channel stereo.

Hi, I've searched all over the place for a similar scenario but can't seem to find a solution.

The short: I can't get my pc to send an audio signal via HDMI to my Yamaha receiver. Video gets sent fine. The reason it won't send audio is because my Yamaha receiver is connected to a DVI projector and my pc can see that. Is there any way to trick or force my pc to send the HDMI audio signal for the sake of my receiver being able to receive it?

My HDMI playback device says, NVIDIA high definition audio not plugged in.

Hi All

I have been receiving constant BSOD errors on my new PC whenever my Denon AVR3311 AV receiver is connected to the network (wired). I have no problems with any other devices connected to the network, however when this item is connected the PC BSOD within minutes, sometimes seconds. The AVR is setup to access shared media on my PC.

My PC is only 2 months old
ASUS V series V7 P7H55E with an i7-870 processor, 8gb ram and Windows7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM running.

My modem/router is a billion BiPac 7800N and the receiver is a Denon AVR3311.

I have attached the minidump and other associated files to this post. The BSOD error code is D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_ OR_EQUAL and refers to tcpip.sys.

I did manage to connect an older computer running xp to the network and the receiver was able to recognise it and stream audio video without causing a BSOD which leads me to think the issue is with the new PC and not other components of the network.

I am at a loss to understand how to fix this and have not been able to find any answers from my searches.

If anyone out there has any ideas on what steps I can take to correct this error I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. The computer came preinstalled with CA internet suite 2010. I have disabled both the virus and firewall components to see if this was the problem but no luck.

Hiy all,

I'm hoping this is an easy one...

I'm using win7 x64, and wish to connect my dodgy xbox 360 controller without having to buy or build a receiver...
i found this forum when the following thread came up on google:
Connect / charge wireless XBOX 360 controller Windows 7 w/o Wireless Gaming Receiver?
unlike Vlad, i have no plug and play usb cable... my controller has been powered by a cut up usb cable, wired on to the battery springs on the underside of the controller... this has been fine for use on the 360 console... as the controller believes it is battery powered and connects wirelessly without problem.

i am probably being a cheapskate for trying this but if i can save money, i will.

is this enough information for you?
i basically want to connect the controller through my laptop's wireless if possible.

thank you in advance for your time and support,

A:Windows 7 - HDMI out no audio - Intel HDMI audio

Try to set the SPDIF as the default audio device. That might work.

If it doesn't, try updating audio driver.

At last, as you said, your GPU driver is the last one, still, the problem might be right there. Usually, when the device manager shows the HDMI audio as functional and it still doesn't work, it's probably a GPU driver issue.

Try switching your GPU driver to older but stable versions.

On my case, nVidia drivers area always a pain in the *ss, so, when I successfully find a good and stable driver I stick with it for a long long time.

Hi there

Brilliant little device for passing HDMI (less HDCP !!) plus RCA L, R Audio and 5.1 Optical Audio (SPDIF). Switchable audio pass thru,, 2Ch, 5.1 ch.
(Max HDMI input is 1080p so won't work for your 4K huge TV's though) - still an excellent little device for those who want to record from HDMI video.

(IMO the cheap ones are better than the expensive boxes as the expensive boxes don't strip HDCP from the HDMI output making some content not re-cordable with video capture devices or even software such as Audials).

The quick version: IR receiver fails auto install on two Windows 7 PC's upgraded/built from retail upgrade DVD(s). Installs with no issue on PC's pre-loaded with Windows 7 from OEM (Toshiba, HP, etc).

The long version: I have the Pinnalce USB Remote Kit, and it worked great on my Vista x64 HP Slimline, bought just to be a HTPC. I upgraded it last year to Windows 7 via DVD purchased from Amazon, and it continued to work. At some point - not sure when - it became nearly unresponsive, and about 1 out of every 10 key presses would do something, and usually the wrong command. As an example, if using the remote to search through MC music, hitting the right arrow key 20 times may result in it putting "#6*" on the screen, showing it was interpreting the key presses incorrectly. The red light in the receiver would also randomly blink, when no other IR activity was present. I plugged it into my Toshiba Win7 x32 laptop, and it worked perfectly, so I knew the device was fine, it was a problem on my PC. I assumed it was something my daughter had done, and put off messing with it for a while.

When I finally got back to it, I couldn't find anyway to diagnose what was going on, so I started doing system restores back as far as I had them. Nothing fixed it, so I figured the new build I wanted to do in the future would take care of whatever had messed it up. After contacting Hauppauge customer support and reading a lot of forums I was still at an impasse. My system is running off a clean install using upgrade media of Windows 7. I started snooping around in the device manager and stumbled upon the Action>Install Legacy Hardware menu. Choose 'install hardware manually from a list,' then 'show all devices.' Scroll down in the manufacturer list and choose the first instance of Microsoft. Choose 'consumer IR devices" from the list on the right and finish the wizard. It should install the correct HID and Keyboard drivers to let your IR receiver work properly. Good luck!

Establishing SPP Bluetooth connection between a laptop with Win7 and HC-05 BT Receiver

Hello,

I am trying to implement BT btwn a laptop running Win7 with Arduino IDE, and a BT device called an HC-05. The HC-05 is located at and powered by a remote Arduino UNO board. I'm doing this for the first time, and am also new to Arduino.

I am looking for someone with some experience in setting up Serial Port Profiles for Bluetooth devices.

Some Details:

When the HC-05 BT receiver is powered on by the Arduino a red led flashes at about 2Hz. If I go to My Bluetooth Devices in Win7, I select Add Device and choose All as the type. The HC-05 appears and Win7 reports it was installed successfully, although in the list of devices Device Type says unknown. If I open services I see Serial Port Profile (SPP) only. If I double click it it says Service action in progress for about 30 s, then an error says Device failed to respond. At this point the HC-05 device red led now flashes slower about 0.5 Hz. If I now double click on the SPP again I get the error: "No more com ports can be created for this device." If I rt click the SPP icon I get one option - to "Create Port", but the same error occurs.

If I investigate with Device Manager: under "Ports" I see 3 ports listed, copies that say Bluetooth SPP Driver with COM1,2,3 shown. The third has a exclamation icon on it, under properties/status it says "This device is not working properly because Windo... Read more

I'm trying to hook up my TV with my computer, and for the most part it's working. The video goes through and I get how to control it and everything. The only thing not working is the sound.

I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and like I said the video is fine. Also, when the cable is plugged into my boyfriend's laptop, the sound comes out of the TV.

So this must mean the problem is with my computer specifically. Although, this computer is only a month old, so I wouldn't think anything is out of date.

I have no idea what's relevant, so I don't know what to post screenshots of, but I've read tons of other threads with the same issues but none of their solutions seem to work for me.

A:Realtek HDMI Output ATI HDMI Audio -Not Plugged In-

Info on your computer would help. We can only talk in generalites or suggestions without it. In most cases, if you have a full HDMI port with both audio and video, when you plug in an HDMI cable Windows changes the default audio playback device from the "Speakers" (your PC sound card) to "HDMI".

In your case the ATI (now called AMD) should be the device that is feeding the video and audio.

As your PC is only 1 month old, the PC vendor's tech support should be the ones to call since you haven't been able to find a solution to date.

First off, I know how to install the drivers as done in this guide. It has worked perfectly for three months, but when I sat down to play today it didn't work. The controller disconnects and won't reconnect.

I have installed and uninstalled, disconnected and reconnected, tried different controllers. Hell, I even reinstalled windows. Sometimes when I reinstall the drivers (in Device Manager) it tells me "the device can't start" and other times it works and is listed correctly. Whenever I reinstall the drivers and the device is listed correctly, after five seconds it shows up as an unknown device under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". Sometimes the receiver works for a couple of minutes before disconnecting again, pushing me closer and closer to the edge of insanity.

At first I thought it was the receiver gone fubar, but I tested it on several other computers and it worked perfectly. What is going on with my computer? Can anyone help me out at all?

EDIT: I recently moved to the other side of the country. Could the computer have been damaged? If so, why would this be the only issue?

I am trying to connect my PC to my Home Theater System (Receiver). I purchased a "Y" cord and plugged one RCA jack (black) to the computer. I plugged the red and white RCA jack to the audio receiver. I have 5 speakers hooked up to the receiver; however sound is only coming out of one speaker clearly. I can hear sound out of the other four but it is extremely faint. When I switch the red/white around the sound comes out of a different (left) speaker; however the right one goes faint. Any idea as to how to get all five working?

GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 3.1)

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 3.1)

(Note 3) Simultaneous output for DVI-D and HDMI is not supported.

What I'm trying to do is output just my sound to the receiver via HDMI cable, but still use the DVI to my monitor for video. From the note above taken from the MB specs, sounds like this is not possible.

This is new business to me and wondering how others do this, seems little information I can find. I am ordering a HDMI to DVI cable so I can disconnect the DVI cable from the computer and instead run both video and sound through HDMI to the receiver, then the video to the monitor. Hoping this works.

If all fails then I am relegated to separate digital through S/PDIF optical link, to my receiver. According to the experts this is less than ideal since now, the multi-channel dolby and DTS signals can only be received via HDMI.

Wondering if I get a Blu-ray player for my computer how this is going to all work out. Hoping that HDMI to DVI cable does the trick.

Anyone with experience with this kind of set-up and the aforementioned hardware greatly appreciated.

And Happy NEW YEAR!

A:Gigabyte HDMI output to Yamaha receiver - no sound output

As you have a separate video card, its capabilities should determine how the video works, not the motherboard. The video is routed to the video card.

If you had some type of integrated Video on the motherboard then the motherboard's specs would apply. For example, I have an Intel i7 3770 CPU and this model has built in Intel HD4000 video which is routed to motherboard video connectors and thus the motherboard would determine how the video is distributed. However, I'm using a separate video card and thus that determines how video is distributed.

Hello quick question so i'm clear and to see what you would suggest.

I have a new upgrade LG 55 inch 4k TV connected to my PC via HDMI to GTX970 I've read this TV supports audio also via the same HDMI cable plugged in to my video card. I'm a huge gamer.

Right now I have a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card connected to a 4.1 Logitech setup w/sub. I've been using this for years and it works great for surround sound when available and EAX is always a plus SO whats my benefit to 86 the 4.1 and just go HDMI?

In that case I lose the 4 speaker setup correct and just use audio from the TV?? I can't see the advantage for this unless i'm missing something big. I don't use SPDIF output or the Dolby digital or DTS encoder from the card I assume all that you need a receiver.

Can I use HDMI output for audio and STILL use my 4.1 speakers? I don't want to invest in a receiver or anything like that at this point. What would you do if you were me? i'm at work now but I read if I go into the sound properties/playback devices I can choose HDMI output? I'm curious to see how that works.

thx!

A:HDMI cable for audio or keep my 4.1 w/soundcard? need help w/HDMI

Windows only allows one default audio playback device. e.g. HDMI or Speakers (your sound card). HDMI audio is generated on a sound chip in the Video card. You don't have all the options you do with a Sound card.

hi all,

I have my media center PC connected to a Sansung LCD TV through an HDMI cable.
Everything works fine; the PC detects TV and both audio and video travel through the HDMI cable from PC to TV

The problem happens when I turn the TV OFF and ON. In this case, the video is back but not the audio. This can be seen in the "playback audio devices" in "control panel", the icon that represennts the sansung speakers via HDMI dissapears.
Any idea of what to do? I got the latest video driver, which also deals with HDMI audio but no luck at all...

thanks

A:HDMI audio problem when connecting LCD TV to PC via HDMI

This is more of a HDMI handshaking issue than a Windows or driver issue, and a very common occurrence. Sadly if you do a Google search using "hdmi handshake no audio" for the search terms, you'll get lots of results but very little in the way of how to solve. About the best solution I came across is this one,

*Official* Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 thread - Page 271 - AVS Forum

A lot of that thread deals with the Asus Xonar sound cards, but there is also quite a bit about the no audio in general.

I have installed actual Bluetooth-stack v9.10.32(T)
Also added Bluetooth filter package and Bluetooth monitor (cannot see them in the control panel under "programs and features)
But cannot complete pairing with an Denon AVR-X1100

when connecting with the Toshiba all steps look good until the pairing code is displayed.
I confirm it and the Denon displays the Toshiba as paired and connected
but the Bluetooth wizard is displaying for a while:
"setting up audio device"
and ends up with "connection to a remote device failed please try again"
and windows7 displays "Authentication went wrong"

My Iphone and my Dell Latitude connects without any problems so it should be related to the Toshiba Bluetooth-stack (settings)
any Idea how to solve it?

Is there a way to hang a dongle on that Audio-out port that will convert it to analog devices - rca jacks, stereo/headset etc etc?

No sound.
Little speaker with the red 'x' appeared yesterday
I have gone through the whole update drivers circus to no avail, my laptop can't detect that it has speakers built in so it doesn't bother finding a driver for them.

This is where I am at:
- Intel Display Audio is the only driver installed for sound
- This means that sound works when the laptop is plugged into an HDMI
- When HDMI is not plugged in, the computer cannot find the built in speakers.
- I have Linux on this system and audio does not work there as well

I would call this a broken chipset, but the fact that the computer still processes audio with the HDMI cable attached is confusing me. Also, the 'audio board' for this laptop has 2 usb ports attached to it, and those both work fine.

Any help would be appreciated

Alright here's my situation:

I have a Core2Duo PC running Vista Home Premium 32 bit, hooked up to my TV using a HDMI cable. This has been working fine for 2 years now. Yesterday I decided to add some more RAM to this PC (4 GB instead of the standard 2 GB to be exact). I know 32 bit will only read 3 GB but I was thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit later.

Anyway I booted up the computer, worked fine of course, even watched a movie or two without problems. Then this morning I booted up the PC and I suddenly noticed the volume icon saying that there were no audio devices detected! I checked under Hardware and there are no audio devices whatsoever! So my HDMI cable is still giving me picture but no sound! Seeing as I'm using onboard audio I immediately booted into the BIOS and although I couldn't find a specific option that said onboard audio I did see something audio related being "HDA" (I assume HD audio) on automatic, the other option was ACRealtek97 or something. However it was enabled so no luck there.

Does anyone know how all of a sudden my HDMI cable isn't providing audio anymore? I even checked my Nvidia card which also stated that HDMI audio was enabled.

I hope anyone can help me, thanks in advance.

Hello everyone!

First of all i would like to thank everyone for the answers and help you share and i am new to this forum. I tried to search before making this thread but i havent found any answer that could help me.

I just bought 2 LCD monitors ( Acer and Asus) they all work perfectly But i have a problem, a huge one. The Asus monitor refuses to work when the VGA (acer) is connected and vice versa.

The Asus is a 23" LCD monitor, its connected via HDMI.
The Acer is a 18,5" LCD monitor, its connected via VGA.
My laptop is an Acer 7736, 2,20 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, 1GB graphic card from ATI Radeon.
So i beg you please to help me, i have tried everything possible, been trying for the last 7 hours and i even downloaded Ultramon but it doenst work either.

I only want them to work in same time, what can i do?

Here is the link, i even tried updating the drivers on the graphic card but nothing works.
Thanks in advance!!!

A:HDMI trouble when VGA connected

A lot of laptops do not have the ability to go to more than two monitors (Edit: this is including laptop as monitor). You can probably have both work if you close your laptop lid, otherwise, only the laptop and VGA or laptop and HDMI will work. (Edit: if you close laptop lid, the two monitors VGA and HDMI will work but only with laptop monitor closed)

I think there is a piece of hardware you can purchase that can turn a USB port into and external display adapter, but I don't know if it was GFX card specific or if your card needs or supports a particular piece.

My laptop suffers from this as well. I tried it and confirmed it after seeing issue on this forum a few weeks ago.

First of all sorry if it's not that Windows related!
So the problem is that my LCD TV has a scrambled picture when my computer is turned on and connected to the TV via HDMI. I got analog signal TV connection but the picture is fine while the PC is turned off. Yeah I know I should get digi TV but till then I would like to sort this out. The TV is a Samsung 40" LCD model LE40A336. It has 2 HDMI input ports. Tryed both with same results. BTW if I remember it right, I had the PC connected via VGA last weekend and didn't have this problem. I will double check it in the morning.
Maybe I'm using wrong setting with PC... wrong Hz or sth. Anyhow maybe someone has had similar problems and solved it.

Windows 7 x64
EDIT: The TV is the only monitor connected to the PC via HDMI. Sound is passing through the HDMI cable aswell.

the VGA doesn't transfer data signals through digital technology, it uses analog, that's why the picture appears correct on the VGA, the HDMi though uses a technology called HDCP handshaking, the PC needs to handshake the display for it to show the images being encrypted from the desktop, if that handshake doesn't take place then the image will appear scrambled.

you can read up about HDCP here High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia but your options are just to use the VGA cable, or if it is a software fault then ... Read more

I have an Acer Aspire Laptop 57362-4790 running Win 7 with all the latest updates. Audio is an Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI, and Realteck HDMI.

Because I had no headphone output with the computer connected to my TV via the HDMI out I ran the Windows audio trouble shooter. I got a messaage "non standard audio detected" and Windows did something. Now my headphone jack works, but I have no audio on the TV from the HDMI connection.

I've checked both the Intel and Realtime audio controlers and gotten the message, "Device working properly."

I've searched both Intel and Realtime for new drivers and gotten the message, "Best driver already installed."

Opening sound, clicking on playback, clicking on configure, selecting speaker and clicking on test gives test tones out of both the left and right speakers on the TV. Going back to the web, still no sound!

Does anyone have any idea what Windows did and more importantly how do I undo it and get sound back on the TV through the HDMI connection?

Thanks for looking at this story, and any help you can give.

A:No HDMI audio after running Win 7 audio trouble shooter

Use the System Restore function and restore the PC back to a date PRIOR to whatever you did. That should return it to how it was configured. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data or emails.

Hi,

Not sure if this is possible, but thought I'd toss it out there... I'd like to have audio sent via HDMI to my monitor while at the same time using the MoBo output jack for a subwoofer. I've only been successful with one or the other by itself in any configuration I've been able configure.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

A:HDMI Audio AND Realtek MoBo Audio Simultaneously

Does your monitor have an Audio Out? Some do. If it does, HDMI to the monitor, then audio out from the monitor to your subwoofer. Mind you plugging something into the audio out may turn off the monitors internal speakers. You won't know until you try
But…here’s the kicker! A subwoofers job is to not only produce lower frequencies but to also blend nicely into its satellites (speakers). This is most commonly accomplished by either designing the sub and satellites to work together in that the lower cut off frequency of the satellites is close to the higher cut off frequency of the subwoofer. The other is to have an adjustable crossover that will allow you to match the subwoofers higher cut off frequency to that of the satellites lower cut off frequency. You also need to match their output (sound) so that they are even (or close enough!). Otherwise you will get a lot of boom from the sub and not be able to hear much from the monitor.
Monitors with built in speakers are not designed with fidelity in mind. They have tiny amplifiers and do not go very loud without sounding terribly distorted. Even if your monitor does have an audio out, you may be presented with the impossible challenge in trying to match it to your subwoofer. Honestly, you are better off purchasing a 2.1 (or 5.1) computer speaker system. You can get something pretty decent for not too much money.

Hi,

I just got a new (cascaded) computer with seemingly no standard audio.

The audio icon is a speaker with and X through it and the only audio device that populates the Playback Devices list is the HDMI digital audio.

I have audio on the motherboard (think I can find it?? nope) and some auxiliary ins and outs on the front of the PC (headphone, line in).

No audio will output whatsoever. Keep in mind I will not be using the HDMI audio.

No headphones and no "X"s in the device manager...

um... any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Mike

A:No Audio, HDMI (unplugged), No Audio device listed

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. What is listed there? The HDMI and Speakers should be listed. If that is the case make the Speakers the default playback device.

If the Speakers are not listed, RIGHT click in a blank area on the panel and check the Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices and then if the Speakers are shown you can make them the default playback device.

If there is still no speaker, you can check the Device Manager to see if the sound is listed (could be RealTek or IDT) and if it is check to see if there is an error code,

As this is a new PC and you can't get it working it would be best to contact HP support. If there is some problem only HP can get it corrected under warranty.

Today my notebook Asus M50Vn suddenly started to behave weird. While it's connected to plasma via HDMI, everything starts to stutter a bit, which is very inconvenient in videos. It works like this: 0,5 s of fluid picture, 0,1 s of freeze, 0,5 s of fluid picture, and so on.

Situation is the same on primary (built-in) monitor and secondary (plasma), as well as on youtube, VLC, PotPlayer and MPC HC. DXVA and CUDA won't make any difference, choosing different video renders in player's settings won't do the help as well. I've already tried to install older and newer drivers (graphics is Geforce 9650m GT) but it didn't help.

Computer is 100 % virus free, there is COMODO IS for on-access security and I've also checked it with malwarebytes, hitman pro, emsisoft emergency kit, kaspersky tdss killer and CCE. Almost all processes are disabled.

It's interesting because there's no problems when plasma is connected via VGA.

Unfortunately there's no useful system restore points.

Hi,
I just did a fresh install of Win 8.1 last week and my TV which is connected via HDMI is not getting detected as a display on my PC. My monitor was detected fine.

When i right click my desktop and go to screen resolution, the TV doesnt show up there even post clicking detect. Same if i go into AMD CCC and click on detect.

However Win 8.1 can detect it. The TV is seen in device manager under digital media device and i can see the TV under Devices and Printers in Control Panel. I've tried troubleshooting it but it says everything is fine.
But I need it to come up as a display so i can use it as a primary display at times or to duplicate display.

I had no such problems with Win 7. It would detect right off the bat.

Things ive tried:-
I've installed the Omega 14.12 drivers and the Beta 15.4 drivers.
I've tried installing them in Win 7 compatibility mode too, but the installer then wouldnt give me the option to install the display driver and the HDMI audio driver.

One thing i notice is that the driver for the TV is provided by Microsoft and the date of the driver is 6/21/2006! So maybe this needs to be updated. I tried to click on update driver but it says my driver is up to date.

I also have all the latest windows updates installed.

so not sure what else to do here.

Please help.

A:Win 8.1 - TV connected via HDMI not detected as a Display

The 2006 device driver is simply the generic one which is normal, same one I get when TV is plugged in.
What HDMI port are you using? One on motherboard or one coming directly from GPU? This almost has to be a graphics driver problem.
Why would you try installing drivers in 7 compatibility mode? We are talking 8.1 here right? Have you tried drivers from manufacturers site?
A laptop or desktop? Motherboard and GPU make/model?
So, so many details you've left out.
Would help to have some system specs.

Hi everyone, I just got a new sound bar (Yamaha YAS-105) which only supports Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3, I think) and I want it to smoothly transcode all of my DTS or newer audio to a multi stream AC3 in both MPC player from the latest K-lite mega pack, VLC and Winamp, or rather, if possible, just in general. If I play something thats DD5.1 in K-Lite's MPC it neatly picks up the audio and displays it as DD on my sound bar, same thing goes for DD5.1 in VLC etc. but as soon as I play something in DTS or higher there is no audio. I've been googling and tweaking the settings already and after messing around a bit it does play sound through MPC but none of my Dolby lights light up on my device and it doesn't sound like 5.1 either, the weird thing is that no lights go on, not even the PCM light just the TV light is connected and it gives a sort of stereo with subwoover sound (so 2.1). If anyone can help me out I'd be very grateful, I know it's possible because it works with media boxes as well, I just can't get it to work on windows... Any extra info, I have an Alienware X51 RC1, Soundbar is a Yamaha YAS-105, like I said it's hooked up via HDMI to my TV and my TV through a Digital optical cable to my soundbar.

Well normally I'd have said it was just your laptop struggling to upscale the image due to hardware limitations. But a 9650gt should be more than capable.
What happens if you disable the laptop screen and just use the tv as a primary monitor?

Erm.. Try a different HDMI lead and lower the resolution a little. But that's clutching at straws lol

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me.

I updated to windows 10 some months ago and realized my beats audio panel was gone. I few day back I re installed the High Definition Audio Device drivers and beats audio seems to came back.

I recently bought a denon amplifier and noticed very low sound when I connect the notebook to the amplifier through hdmi.
Is the hdmi sending the wrong signal? are there any new drivers for hdmi controllers or realtek sound card?
My laptop is a HP envy 17 j011nr (i think so) core i5 beats audio
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

A:Low sound when connected to amplifier through hdmi

Realtek shouldn't even be involved with the HDMI sound. I suggest to update your laptop's drivers and use "Intel Display Audio" as your HDMI driver. Set the volume to max then you're good to go.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

Decided to run this old laptop to my TV so that I could watch shows from online. When I connected using an HDMI cable the sound cuts in and out very bad. Thought the cable might be bad so I switched it out for a new high dollar cable but still has the same problem. Issue occurs both streaming and when testing using system sounds (such as "test" in the sound setup in device manager). Running Windows 10 (64-bit) and have installed all system updates and have tried updating the audio driver but it is saying I have the most up to date driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Elitebook 8530p that I am trying to connect to my TV so I can view online TV on my TV screen. I can stream the online TV and watch it on the laptop ok, and I can connect the laptop to the TV with HDMI cord and I see the picture on the TV too, but as soon as I push the play button and it starts to stream the Laptop freezes. This happens on both TV's in our house with different HDMI cords which leads me to believe it is an issue with the laptop (not the TV's or cords). I have tried pushing the Fn + F4 buttons to clone it but that makes no difference. I have tried changing the display settings but I don't really know what I am doing! Another post said to choose full HDMI setting but even though the laptop has a HMDI port it didn't appear to have that setting. Is it too old?

A:Laptop freezes when connected to TV through HDMI

The problem is most likely the video card driver, so yes technically your laptop is too old, but luckily you can save that geezer! If updating the drivers doesn't work then you can try changing resolutions.

Solution found here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...o/7fafd27d-816f-456c-afa6-3c7fec3909e3?auth=1
a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

b. Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

c. In Device Manager, expand Display Adapters, right-click the display devices, and then click properties and under the driver tab click on Uninstall.

d. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.

e. Restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed. Check after this procedure. Also check if you have any exclamation mark or cross marks alongside the display devices listed in device manager.
You can update the drivers using windows update. Refer to the below mentioned link and use the steps provided accordingly -http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

You may also check if there are any updates for the drivers at the manufacturer website. You may even install the latest drivers from the manufacturer... Read more

Nothing is showing up on the TV. I selected the Extended screen option & nothing. I looked in Display Settings & no second screen is being detected. Even though on the TV itself. It reads that a HDMI is connected to the specific HDMI port. Windows 10 says my Drivers are all updated & my Displey Driver is AMD Radeon R7 200 Series

A:HDMI connected to Monitor & the other end connted to TV

If the title of your post is accurate.....then that will never work. You have to connect the TV to the PC with an HDMI cable and then do the same thing for the monitor. You need 2 cables. No other way around it.

hi
im using dell inspiron 15-3521 whenever i connect earphone/headphone to my laptops jack only the left side of the speaker work right side has no sound (inbult laptop speaker works fine).my friend asked me to download (0005-Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R279) driver from realtek web site and  I installed it and the problem was solved and this was about 6 to 7 months back
but now im facing the same problem i did the same what i did last time  i downloded and re installed the driver but of no use the problem still presists.
so plz guide me what to do to solve the problem.
thank you umesh.

A:audio problem when earphone/head phone is connected to 3.5mm audio jack

Test by switching between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
If it still does not work correctly when the native driver is installed, then the hardware in the headphone jack has failed.
But if the same problem is there with the native driver then you should install a different version of the Realtek driver. I might be able to direct you to one but would need to know which operating system you are using.

How do I fixs this? I have tried diabling it under audio settings and disabling the driver with no luck.

A:ATI HDMI audio is disabling onboard audio

hows your video connected? I'm guessing through HDMI or you using a vga,dvi or display port instead>? Are you trying to get audio through regular speakers? I ask if your video is connected through HDMI because that could be the cause because the video and sound both go through the HDMI cord and should project sound through the tv if it's connected through the HDMI.

I'm pretty certain that there is a cable that you have to connect from your sound card to your gfx card...

Sound over HDMI from GPU

If you have a Radeon HD 4xxx series or newer it should be setting up your HDMI by itself, though you may need a driver from the website. http://ati.amd.com

Also, check to make sure that when you're hooking up to your TV via HDMI that your sound options have HDMI/S-PDIF as default...

I have the same issue in windows 10 home 64 bit-
HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

When I right click on the volume control, the options it shows are:
open volume control
playback devices
recording devices
sounds
volume control options

It does not give me a properties option.

Then I went to control panel and searched for sound. Then I saw the screen below. There was a Digital Audio as well and I clicked 'Don't use this device(disable)' on it by mistake and clicked OK.

Now, I only have Speakers option. How do I get the Digital Audio option back in here? I think that will solve my original problem.

Thanks

I recently found out that every time i plug in a HDMI or Auxiliary cable, my computer crash. I tried changing the cable to see if that was the problem and it wasn't. I just don't know where to look to start fixing the problem. I've considered that maybe the connector is faulty, but i'm looking for option before going to that.

I use HDMI to connect my TV for movies
I use the auxiliary Cable to connect a speaker.
on different occasion.

A:Computer crashes after HDMI/Aux cable is connected

Did you try shutting the computer down, plugging in the cable then starting back up? I've crashed a computer when plugging in a USB Thumb/Flash drive, turned out it was caused by static electricity that I'd built up walking across a carpeted room, now have anti-static touch pads on my desks to touch before anything else.

I fought this problem all day and I think I have it narrowed down. System is Lenovo Yoga 900 i7 with Windows 10 with all latest updates. Application is Citrix Receiver 4.5. When using Quickbooks with the Citrix Receiver, mouse clicks are disabled/not recognized.  All keyboard inputs still work, the mouse arrow tracks correctly, but mouse clicks seem to be ignored.  This behavior occurs when booting to dual monitor setup with HDMI adapter in the USB Type-C port; booting to single monitor (Yoga), then plugging the HDMIR adapter in the USB Type-C port.  The only resolution is to boot to single monitor (Yoga) and work in single monitor mode exclusively.  I am using the USB Type-C to HDMI adaptor purchased from Lenovo.  This occurs with the Yoga trackpad AND occurs with my USB wireless mouse. Also note with native Windows applications, the mouse works fine with both  monitors connected and active. I really bought the HDMI adaptor to use two monitor with the Citrix Receiver.  I have tried to Google this problem, but I'm unable to find a Citrix Receiver support site/forum that would be appropriate for this question. Any advice appreciated.

Hello

I am facing some issues, when connecting my Dell E6440 laptop to my LG 55LB650V flat screen.

I connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI-cable and I have been trying different cables. The computer has both an Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an AMD Radeon HD 8690M graphic card.

When I connect my computer to the TV the screen starts flashing black, every 5 seconds or so. Every time I open a new program the screen flashes and it is also happening sometimes when I do not use the computer.

The computer runs at 1600x900 and the TV is a full HD. I have tried to alter the resolution to both and I also tried to use a custom scaling level of 120 % (as 1920 is 120 % of 1600). I have also changed the refresh rate to 59p HZ and 60p HZ, but that made no difference. I have found out that if using the 60i HZ the screen would not flash (at least it have not yet).

So at the moment I can use the computer on the TV, but of course I would like to know why the screen is flashing when using 59p or 60p HZ and know what I can do, so I could use these refresh rates.

I hope that someone could make me wiser on this problem and maybe give me a solution. If anyone knows, I would also be happy to know what the best custom scaling level to use when using a 1600x900 laptop on a full HD TV is.

I really appreciate any help. Thank you in advance!

I have connected my XPS L502X laptop to my Samsung lcd tv using an hdmi cable.
I do not have clone display as an option. I can only extend the display. My guess is that this has to do with the tv display being run from the nvidia graphics card and the laptop display being run from the integrated graphics.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A:How do I clone display on XPS L502X - connected to TV by HDMI

I certainly suggest making sure that you have the most up to date video driver.  The latest Dell drivers may be found from the following link.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_L502X&os=W764&osl=en&catid=&impid=
You may want to creat an Optimus profile for your applications to ensure that the NVIDIA GPU is being used over the integrated Intel solution.
To create a new profile for an application:

1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
2. Select Manage 3D Settings.
3. Select Program Settings tab
4. Click Add button.
5. Browse to and select the application executable that needs the new profile.
6. Or choose the preferred application from the drop menu.
7. Select the features and settings you wish to change for this application.

Don't forget the basics, try another display if possible and see if the problem continues.  Try another HDMI cable to make sure that the cable is alright. \
Please, let me know what you find out.

I have connected my HP Laptop with Windows 8 to my TV through an HDMI port. I watch netflix and youtube. A couple times a day the sound will just quit working. I check the audio and it says it is still hooked up to the TV. The only way I can figure out how to get it working again is to restart the computer. This has never happened while audio was playing, just when it is not in use for a little while.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I am weighing up my options between purchasing an Ideapad 500s or a Thinkpad L460. I do a bit of video editing, and when I'm doing that kind of work I want to hook the laptop up to a 4k screen, (the extra pixels allow a much more efficient workflow). To connect to a 4k monitor at 60Hz I have read that I need a DisplayPort output (which I note that the 500s does not have), or an HDMI 2.0. I suspect that the Ideapad 500s does not have an HDMI 2.0 output, but I would be happy to be contradicted. Could someone please confirm this one way or ther other? Preferably if you could point me to some official documentation about the product which answers the question that would be great! If it does have an HDMI 2.0, I wonder if anyone has any idea how the nVidia chip would handle the 4k screen. I wouldn't be gaming or even doing and 3d modelling or rendering - just some HD video editing - so I expect it would be fine? Many thanks,Tom

Recently my hard drive went out and I had it replaced with a solid state drive. The problem I'm having now is when I hook up my Samsung Smart TV through an HDMI cable (also tried a new cable with same results) I get wavy, scrolling lines on my laptop that go away when I disconnect the cable. The lines don't show up on my TV and this didn't happen before having my computer repaired.

The Staples tech wants to charge me again for diagnosing it after paying over $270 for a diagnostics and replacement of the hard drive. He said it's not possible for it to be a problem with the new hard drive so it would be another charge even though it didn't do it before having it repaired and my computer reformatted. I'm concerned I'm going to burn something out if I keep using it this way but I also don't want to pay more if it's something simple. He said it could be the motherboard or graphics card but I'm not sure whether or not to trust him. I'm a senior with little technical knowledge.

I want to use an HDMI cable so I can watch Xfinity programming that's available online only. I can live with it doing this as long as it isn't hurting my computer. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm actually new here, so I am not sure if this is in the right forum page, but I need help. I have had a problem with my HDTV and laptop for a few months and finally decided to start a thread for help. The problem is that the HDTV is blurry and fuzzy when connected to my laptop via HDMI. However, I realize this is an overscanning issue, because in the AMD Catalyst Control Center, whenever I set the scaling for overscanning to 0%, the fuzzy text and screen is fixed, but the edges around the screen like the taskbar are cutoff the edge of the screen. I do not think my TV has an option for "Just Scan", but maybe you guys can find something I can't. Here is the manual:

Hello, I built my new computer about a week ago and was running it off a single 19" Tevion TV while I waited for the HDMI cables to arrive so I could setup my second monitor.

They arrived yesterday and when I plugged in my 32" JVC LT-32DA30J there was overscanning and the bluriness. I fixed the overscanning in the TV's menu and now the size is correct but even at native resolution, the JVC monitor is still quite blurry and is a strain to look at and concentrate on.

Plugging the HDMI cable into my Tevion monitor made that go blurry as well so it could be the HDMI cable or the motherboard ports (when I first got the PC, the VGA port had the same problem but once updated it looked normal)

Does anyone know of a fix to this ? Or can at least suggest what part is going wrong so I can try and fix it ?

What I have tried:
Changing the resolution - all the different resolutions all show the same blurriness
Changing the refresh rate - problem persists through all refresh rates
Changing monitor settings - As above, changing these settings didn't help with anything

Any help is very appreciated , I've been trying to fix this problem for most of yesterday

I have a brand new MSI Media Live box. The Installation process went fine except when it came to startup after installation. I always receive a blue screen and sometime I have the "irql_not_less_or_equal" message. The system works perfectly when I startup using the VGA connector. I have verified that HDMI does work if I startup using the VGA connector and then extend the desktop.

I have downloaded and install the Windows 7 driver from Nvidia. My card is Geforce 6150. The error descriped above happened using my Philips Tv and also my computer LCD screen.

Any Ideas?

I messed up display settings for when I attach a TV via HDMI to my laptop. I set the system to display only on the TV (OK, not a totally stupid idea) and then picked a resolution the TV doesn't support (that was TOTALLY stupid!) When I disconnect the TV, laptop display works as normal. As soon as I connect the TV, laptop screen blanks and TV goes to Invalid Format. I have tried to change display settings through the control panel with the TV disconnected, but as soon as I plug in the TV, it goes back to the bad resolution on the TV and no laptop display.

Is this stored in the registry somewhere? I want to reset the flag telling the system to display only on 2nd display.

Please help

This should work:Connect the TV, don't mind the Invalid Format warning
Press WIN + P to open Display Switch dialog. You don't see it as it's on the non-working TV display but trust me, it's there:
(Screenshot from our tutorial Display - Change Main Display)
Press Right Arrow > Press Enter to change from Display 2 only to Display 1 only
Now you should have the desktop on laptop's display, you can change your display settings as you wish

Hi there;

I recently got a lenovo z710 ideapad to replace my previous laptop and serve as a substantial increase in gaming potential. I usually game with my computer connected to an lcd tv with an hdmi cord. However, with the new laptop I am having incredibly constant BSOD issues.

The BSOD has specifically occurred in Bioshock: Infinite and Deus Ex: HR (I have not yet tested any other games significantly). I am normally able to play fine for some time, however after gaming for a variable amount of time my computer blue screens after trying to load a new map or level (either by fast travelling, moving from one map to another, or just from loading a savegame).

In the case of Deus Ex, I can quickly and reliably produce the error, if I run the game and load a save, then quit to desktop and repeat, the BSOD will occur within 2-3 cycles. There was no problem when running the game while not connected to my tv, even after 10 or so cycles.

So far, I've tried the following based on what I could find on the net:
-Verified integrity of the affected games
-re-download affected games
-search error codes on Microsoft's website (no luck)
-Used the Windows ErrorChecking tool to check for hard disk errors
-Complete un-installation of NVidia drivers and safe-mode wipe using Display-Driver-Uninstaller tool

Nothing seems to have any affect. I think (hope) it's a software issue, as the computer did originally come with Windows 8, which I removed and replaced with the Windows 7 ... Read more

From the sounds of it, you have a problem with your graphics card, and because it's a laptop it sounds like an overheating issue. You have a bugcheck of 0x116 which is a video tdr error which is generally caused by a faulty graphics card. Download Speccy to monitor your temperatures. Then post a screenshot here.

Speccy - System Information - Free Download

Then can you please run a stress test with furmark by following these instructions.

I have a Toshiba satellite L305-S5875 I have it connected to my Vizio HDMI HDTV to watch netflix with. It has been working fine except for the past week. When I unplug the laptop to skype and then plug it back into the tv when I am done I get a, "NO RGB signal" message from the tv. I don't know why it is doing this, I have been able to use system restore to get it working again, but it is no longer working. Any ideas?

A:laptop connected to HDMI tv was working now keep getting no RGB signal

Try this:

Hold down the input button on the right side of the Tv. This is the bottom button
With the tv off, press and hold the bottom button (input)

When the TV powers up and you see the input menu, release and press the button
to change the mode to your preference.

Hope that helps.

As the title says, I've tried connecting my TV to my computer with an HDMI cable, and the video part works, but no sound plays. When I checked the list of playback devices, the TV appeared (as shown below), but it apparently cannot play sound.

I don't think I know anything beyond what I've posted, but if anyone could help me out with this, I would appreciate it.

Also, as a side note - I am completely unable to interact with any of these objects - I cannot set something as a default device; there is no response when I do it, and disabling the audio device only works until current sources of sound (like videos) are restarted.

A:LG TV not playing sound when connected via HDMI cable

If you highlight the LG TV you should be able to set it as default. If not, it sounds lik a permission issue (like non-admin account).

Dear Experts

I am using windows 7 64 bit on my desktop (motherboard ASUS P5E)
ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5E

And I installed VGA SAPPHIRE HD 3870 (ATI RADEON Technology) 512 MB.
This VGA has a converter plug from DVI to HDMI.

Connected a 3 m HDMI cable from a converter to the Samsung TV.

I can see a picture on the TV but no sound

What I did for troubleshooting

1- download latest driver from AMD website from the link below :
AMD Catalyst
2- Follow the instructions here :
How to Set Up Audio on an ATI Radeon HD | eHow.com

No audio from HDTV when playing audio / video from a computer system

3- Digital Audio (HDMI) option was grayed out (not clickable) as can be seen in the snapshot below :

A:SAPPHIRE HD 3879 connected to TV via HDMI no sound

What is a Sapphire HD 3879? I can't find that model. I see a Sapphire HD 3870, is that what you mean?

Regardless, you aren't getting audio because DVI doesn't carry audio, so converting from DVI to HDMI won't give you audio.

Hi, new here. After searching for information on my problem I could not find a single thread with the same issue.
Having said that, here goes.

I just bought a new TV and attempted to connect it to my laptop via HDMI. I have used both the laptop and the cable with other TV's in the past with no problem but when I connect the two the laptop powers off as if the power has been cut. It will not boot when the two are connected and only happens when the TV is on. The laptop will boot into safe mode but it seems that HDMI out is disabled in safe mode so I cannot test it. I have checked and my graphics drivers are current. Hope someone can help! Thanks.

More Information: I have since exchanged for a different TV (Different Brand) for an unrelated issue and it doesn't work with this one either, same issue.
