hello & welcome to TSF ,

you can go here ( and have you system scanned for free

this way you will find out what drivers you are looking for don't pay them just scan for the results !!

if your system has ATI Chipsets you can go here ( ) to get some of the drivers that you need , you will be looking for support & drivers downloads , you will have to tell them your system type and ect... but that is all automated

Realtek HD Audio Drivers randomly failed after about a month of perfect operation.
The icon for Realtek has vanished, and the audio manager is nowhere to be found in the control panel. Realtek is no longer seen in Device Manager as well. Playback Devices menu shows nothing related to Realtek like it previously did.

Now my front and back audio ports do not detect anything. Only the HDMI audio is working via my monitor speakers. All other peripherals are working fine as well (I don't have anything to test the mic ports).

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers multiple times, from both the version given on the Realtek site and Gigabyte site. The HD Manager is still nowhere to be found.

I tried manually installing the driver to the device manager via the "Install Legacy Driver" and receive "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" as the device status. I have NVIDIA High Definition Audio also installed and working perfectly. I tried uninstalling all of my audio drivers (including the High Definition Audio Controllers in the System Devices categories) only for it to reinstall my NVIDIA drivers that I believe supply the HDMI sound.

I am under the impression that Realtek is supposed to install to both Program Files and Program Files (x86)? It is only installing to the latter every time I try to uninstall and reinstall. A search for RAVCpl64.exe yields nothing.

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

A:Realtek HD Audio Driver Randomly Stopped Working and Disappeared

First question what is displayed in the Device Manager, Sound Section? (All entries - post a screenshot).

HDMI sound and PC sound are separate as the HDMI sound is generated by a sound chip on the video board.

If the sound chip is working and not having a conflict, if the RealTek will not install the generic Windows installed HD Audio Driver will be used. If this is not installing either (after uninstalling the Realtek and rebooting) it does sound like a potential hardware problem.

Try this, go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek sound (even if it has the error code), then Left click "Uninstall" and check the box to also uninstall the drivers (if it gives you that option). Then restart the PC and watch to see if Windows detects the sound and installs the HD Audio Driver. If it does, that says the sound chip is OK. If not, either its bad or it has not been identified and you need to reinstall the Intel motherboard chipset drivers (one of the chipset functions is it identifies all the devices on the motherboard).

A few days ago the sound on my computer stopped working. I just woke up one day and went to play a song in itunes and it wouldn't play. I clicked on volume and checked it. Then clicked on playback devices and it said no jack information. No audio controller installed or something. I went to device manager and tried to reinstall or update drivers. The drivers were moved to unknown with a yellow exclamation point. I tried this to no avail. I tried in safe mode. I tried redownloading drivers from motherboard website ASUS. It keeps telling me Access is Denied (Code 28). A couple of times after restarting it said I needed to Reinstall driver, but when i tried it said the latest driver was already installed. Then it went back to Access denied. I don't have any idea what happened. Can someone please help me.

I have just gotten this thing. I decided to update the drivers since it seems that they are all at least 6 months old. The Acer updater says that there aren't any updates for it, but I browsed the net and techspot driver site and found a few. Namely realtek HD Audio driver. Found some BIOS updates as well. However I can't find the chipset update and I am not really sure about the rest being correct.
I am not used to laptops and don't want to install the wrong drivers and ruin it all.
So my question is: "where do You look for the drivers?" Can you share some links?
The support page on Acer's website has no chipset updates at all.

A:Who has Acer Aspire 5552?

I would personally stick to the Acer supported drivers, unless there is a specific reason you need to look elsewhere, like for example, something not working as it should.

Hey guys, I'm pretty much a noob at this.
Long story short... My acer aspire 5552 will not stay on. When I turn it on I have to press on a certain area if not multiple areas. Before I had opened it and cleaned out the fan it use to overheat like crazy it used to hit about 90 degrees I'm wondering if that has ruined something?

Please help!
Thanks in advance

A:Acer Aspire 5552 won't stay on

First of all. Why do you have to hit certain area or for that matter. Multiple areas. It may still be running to hot. Or something was damage when you put in back togather. If it is running to hot . It may need new thermal pads.

Hi, I was wandering since I have a Toshiba HDD in my Acer Aspire 5552 and if I bought and used an Acer recovery disc, would it turn my Acer back to normal? Because right now it says everything a Toshiba would say as in like if you open up the "repair computer" option as you start it up. It has everything a Toshiba would and it won't let me restore to factory default. So just to make stuff clear. Will this work?
This is kind of confusing to explain. I've never been one to word paragraphs correctly so bare with me.

That is what those messages are basically telling you. It hasn't found a hard drive

Remove and reseat the hard drive and see if they go away.

You may be able to boot from a CD or USB and test the hard drive if it is recognised.

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5552 laptop. It has been working perfectly until I installed Windows 7 updates then it started acting up. I decided to use the recovery disks to roll it back to factory settings. That has seemed to correct the problem except that, between the welcome screen and the actual desktop, I get a black screen with 8 blue dots in the upper left hand of the screen. Have never had them before the recovery. They don`t seem to be causing a problem as the laptop just continues on and works fine. Has anyone ever seen this before? Just a little concerned. Thanks for any help.

I got back an Acer Aspire from a customer that is having charging issues. There are times the it will charges, others when it will not. The DC plugin seems to be a bit odd with it, hard to plug in unless you plug it in at just the right angle. So I broke into the case thinking that the connection had broken off from the mobo. Turns out this computer like some of the newer laptops don't have their DC jacks connected directly to the Mobo. So there goes my idea. Only thing i can come up with is buying a replacement on ebay for $6.00 and trying that.

Just because I wanted to check all my bases I tested the DC jack power cable at the distal end from the plug (the plug that connects to the mobo), it tested at almost 20v, on my analog millimeter at 19v i'm just going to assume its right, couldn't test the amps though... I found that odd. I couldn't test the power supply cable, the plug it to small for my millimeter to get inside of it for a good reading.

Anyone had this problem? Any ideas? ThinkI'm on the right track with replacing the DC plug?

I have a pair of QSB speakers from SoundScience, USB powered and USB Output (no jack) which worked fine for ages on my Samsung laptop then suddenly stopped working a few months ago.
I think it must be a problem that occurred when I updated some software, though I am not sure what.
The speakers are recognised by my laptop, as they appear in the Sound Properties window when I open it. The problem comes when I try to set them as default to make them play- nothing happens, and they cannot be set to default, nor can I test them. I have tried rolling back drivers, updating drivers, both on the speakers and on my sound card, but the problem remains.
At this stage I don't have the skills/knowledge to go deeper into the workings of it and I'm stuck trying to get these speakers to respond via the standard sound properties interface. I thought for a long time that it was the Samsung software that comes installed on the laptop, that was conflicting/causing the speakers to not work, but I have tried un-installing that to no avail.

I am running Windows 7 on a Samsung NP300ESA laptop, with a Realtek HD Audio sound card.
Please let me know if you need any more information about my system or the problem.

I appreciate any help you can give me on this

Many thanks

A:QSB Speakers stopped working

Sounds like there may be an error with the USB connection. Go to the Device Manager and check the Sounds section to see if anything is listed for the USB speakers (and if there is any error code). Also, check the USB section to see if there are any unknown devices listed.

You need to install the "Sound Driver" for the sound-card which is fitted inside your PC case.
The correct driver can be obtained from your PC or laptop manufacturer's website.

I was listening to music and my JBL II (2.1) speakers stopped working all of a sudden (they didn't make any special noise before they went dead), and their lights went off.
The light on the Sub-woofer is on, however.
I tried unplugging and replugging all power cables from and to the system, and all of the related computer cables. Also tried restarting the computer.
Nothing seems to work.

I've read on a similar thread that it might be the fuse blown out or the amp overheated.
How can I find out what's the problem, and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

A:JBL speakers stopped working

ok check the fuse in the plug I think it should be 5amp so take another one from another lead somewhere to test . also leave for 20 minutes let amp cool down then try if works then amp over heating .. make sure unplugged both ends when checking fuse.. if still not working then look in device manager make sure these is no yellow exclamation marks .. go to start computer system properties hardware device manager if there is let us know .. hope this been helpful but someone more experienced might be able to offer better advice

Hello, yeah, had that happen to me before. Try this, with the speakers unplugged , restart computer, when it has got everything started , as far as start up processes finished, plug in the speakers, You should see the Balloon pop up of New Hardware installed, and it should auto detect it and after a few seconds or so, it should show you in the Audio Manager , when you open it up, a Sound Manager option, test it out and see if it giving you the stereo sound by pressing the test button , which is in the Speaker tab, you should see a blue test button.. check that out and post back how that works out please.
This icon i have on my taskbar is a red icon of a speaker. see if you have that , and open it up to do what i have posted above ^^^^^.

I'm at the end of my rope here.

The other day my speakers (Logitech X-540) stopped working all together. They pop when I shut down and reboot, but in the speaker properties they are listed as unplugged.

The Realtek HD control panel gives me an error saying that I'm using Vista drivers and to download the proper ones.

I've downloaded the current drivers from Realtek (r2.02) and from Gigabyte and neither work. Is my next step getting a new soundcard for further troubleshooting or is there something I'm overlooking? And yes, I have checked to see that the speakers are actually connected to the PC

A:Speakers stopped working

Have you tried going into device manager and checked to see if all the sound drivers are there and if they are working correctly, you could also try to uninstall all your sound drivers and then let windows find the correct ones again by doing a online search.

Also did you try to change the properties on sound manager so that you were using Realtek high definition audio as I notice that it is not set to default on your screen shot, also have you tried to see if the sound works through your headphones.

My Nephews laptops battery ran low and required charging. When the charger is plugged into the laptop the orange 'charging' light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds then, goes out for a further 6. This repeats continuously whilst the battery remains flat and the machine will not power up.
I have checked the output from the charger which is constant although I have no means, at present , of ascertaining the actual output values.
If there is anyone with any hints or clues I should be most grateful' Thanks.

A:Acer Aspire 5552 charging/battery issue

So the laptop will not turn on at all? Does it act the same if you remove the battery? If not the the adapter may be faulty, the DC jack in the laptop may have broken, or there's a motherboard failure in the laptop.

Testing with a known good and compatible power adapter would be the next step.

How old is the laptop, is it still under warranty?

Something weird is happening.
I was away from home 14 days, and I just came back. I started some music in youtube from my desktop and the speakers sounds weird now, for no reason at all. I really doubt my son touched my computer, but still. Tried checking the configurations I dont see anything wrong, so I thought that maybe the speakers were damaged. So I went to my laptop and I connect my USB headphones and I hear music with no vocals or very very low vocals, so I just try playing with the settings now I can hear vocals and music but weird. So I tried uninstalling the driver and installing again, and I get the same result.

I don't really know if its coincidence but it's really weird. I'm more worried about my headphones since are almost new (Genius hs-04U).

Best Regards

Strangely enough the sound works if I plug in my headphones. I've made sure the speakers aren't muted and all that other stuff so what could the problem be? I believe I have a Realtek sound card and the drivers are up to date last I checked. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Hello! I'm having an issue with the sound on my computer. I have an emachine that runs Vista, but I don't know the specs.

I installed updates on it this morning, and since then I haven't been able to play any sounds through my speakers or through headphones.
When I check my sound devices, it says "Line 1, Live! Cam Virtual, Working", which to me is odd because my webcam certainly doesn't play sound, and it isn't even plugged in.
The only other device listed says "NVIDIA HDMI Output, NVIDIA HDMI Audio, Not plugged in" and I think those are my speakers, and if so they actually are plugged in.

I have checked to make sure nothing is muted, my speakers are on and plugged in, I did unplug and replug a few times, I restarted, etc, and still nothing.

Here's a screen cap:

Thanks a lot :)

If you had sound before the update and don't now, then roll back the driver. Start-> (right click) My Computer -> Manage; select device manager and go to your audio driver and under Driver tab select "Roll Back."

I am not sure why or how, but my the speakers stopped working on my Windows 98 PC. My kid was trying to play a game and noticed no sound. I popped in an audio CD, and it plays, but no sound. The speakers have power, everything is plugged in, and when I unplug and plug in the cable from the back of the PC to the large rectangular box (is that a woofer?), I hear a low hum.

I went to Control Panel-System-Device Manager, and it says the Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V, it says it is working properly.

Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

I am having trouble with the mouse and text size on a new acer aspire 5552 7803 laptop. Sometimes when I am tpying the text suddenly gets huge. At first I thought I was hitting the ctrl button by mistake but I am not. It is possible to make the text larger or smaller by using the arrow on the mouse, but this happens when I don't take my finger off the mouse immediately after I hit a key while typing. It is driving me mad. Does anyone have a solution ?

Thank you very much.

A:text size problems with acer aspire 5552 7803

Hi siobhanmacmahon and welcome to TSF.

Have you tried turning off the touch pad, so that just the mouse is in control and that there are no conflicts with it. Sometimes you may accidently brush over the pad with a sleeve or the cable etc and cause an issue. I think that pressing Fn + F7 together will turn it off and pressing Fn + F7 again will turn it on.

See if that helps.

So briefly, my processor has 6 jacks in the back and 2 in the front to connect my speakers to. In the back there is a Green, Pink x2, Black, Grey and Blue Jacks. In the front there is a Pink and Grey Jack.

Now I have two sets of identical speakers and having only one Green jack I connected them both to the green using an adapter. So basically the same sound came from all the speakers.

Then yesterday I decided to try make it more surround sounding and I found out that the Black jack is for some sort of other speakers. So I connected them, and I set my sound options to quadrophonic. And it worked beautifully. Then I had to leave and I turned of my computer.

When I turned it back on, the speakers plugged into the green one still worked while the speakers plugged into the Black jack don't work anymore. I tried switching them around and the speakers that were plugged into the green one still worked while the black didn't. So its not something with the speakers.

I set defaults to everything and retraced my steps but nothing works. When I do the test, I set it to quadrphonic and it shows 4 speakers, then it tests each one and the plugged into the green ones make a sound, the others don't. What went wrong?

I'm working in Windows Vista Ultimate and Ihere is some info about my pc.

Hi everyone.I have the 5.1 Logitech surround sound speakers hooked up to my PC. It's the z-5500 version.

Today I went to listen to music and the speakers have stopped working. The music is very choppy, and the sound will change to different speakers, almost as if it's shorting out. For instance, you'll hear partial sound on the left-front speaker, then it'll change to the rear-back speaker, and the sound isn't constant. I also hear "pulsing sounds" coming from my subwoofer and all other speakers like every 5 seconds. I've tried different applications (itunes, vlc, windows media); same problem.

I haven't screwed around with any drivers or audio settings for these speakers. I know for a fact it isn't my soundcard, as I used headphones on another port and the sound is normal. I also have the speakers plugged into a UPS, so nothing electrical could have damaged it.

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit with no sound drivers installed. Default windows sound configuration is set up.

Any suggestions as to why these speakers just suddenly stopped working? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards

A:Logitech Speakers Suddenly Stopped Working

Well if you plug headphones in and the sound if normal, then its most likely to be the speakers themselves. Is the anyway you can plug the speakers into another PC and see if the problem persists?

The speakers for my dell XPS 8500 computer and my dell latitude 10 tablet stopped working on the same day. My computer speakers had been plugged into the monitor and working fine since I got the computer a few months ago. Both the desktop and tablet run windows 8. I have tried dell tech support, but they can not seem to figure it out. I am concerned that since both went out on the same day it could be related. One reason I feel that it may be a single issue is that on one occassion (when I first setup my tablet) my tablet stopped responding and my desktop monitor entered and would not exit standy mode at the exact same time. If anyone has any idea on what could be the cause of the speakers not working on both my desktop and tablet please let me know. I am posting this hear in case its some kind of windows 8 networking issue.

A:Desktop and Tablet Speakers Stopped Working

Since both of your computers are Dells, did Dell support have you run their online diagnostics for your system hardware? The online diagnostics are very much like the PC Doctor based Dell Diagnostics that are likely already installed on both of your Dells. The advantage the online diagnostics have is that they are often more detailed and more up-to-date.

If they didn't have you run them yet, they are free for you to use to troubleshoot your computers. Here's the link to the diagnostics home page --- Dell PC Diagnostics | Dell US --- Note that you can choose which diagnostics to run: 1) all diagnostics 2) diagnostics by symptom 3) diagnostics by component. If you don't have a lot of time, you could start by running the sound system tests.

Both your desktop and your tablet have Realtek audio, ALC3800-CG for the desktop, ALC3261 for the tablet. A feature of Windows 8 is a background service that functions as an Automatic Update for drivers . . . So, possibly both of your computers received a sound driver update on the same day ... or possibly a recent Windows Update arrived on the same day that just happened to affect your sound drivers.

I'll guess that you've already tested for sound with a pair of headphones on each computer?

If it seems likely to be an audio driver issue, you could try different drivers (newer or older, from Dell, Windows Update, or Realtek) ... with the Dell drivers likely to be your first choice. To go straight to the last driver that w... Read more

Hello all,

I've had my laptop for just over 6 months now and I've encountered no problems until recently.

However I am experiencing problems with the sound. It just doesn't appear to be working, despite the volume being turned up to the max. The problem usually fixes itself briefly after a restart but it then cuts out after time.

None of the playback devices are muted. When I try testing the speakers, I get an error message saying "Device in Use: Please close any applications using this device for playing audio" - however, there doesn't appear to be any device using the speakers.

I have recently started using an HDMI cable to use my laptop through my TV, I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A:Acer Aspire E1-570 - internal speakers not working?

The HDMI is probably the reason. When an HDMI cable is plugged in, Windows changes the default audio playback from the Speakers (PC Sound card) to HDMI.

If you want the PC speakers on, with an HDMI cable plugged in you will have to manually change the playback device from the HDMI to the "Speakers". This is done in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel, Playback section. However, if you reboot, with the HDMI cable plugged in you will have to manually change the playback device again.

I make music with my computer and therefore the onboard sound card that came with my motherboard is disabled and I've installed a dedicated sound card instead. The soundcard I work with is an M-Audio Delta Series 2496 Audiophile PCI card. I've been using this card without problems for about 5 years.

Today the card seems to have stopped working and I suspect it has something to do with recent stuff I've been doing with my computer.

Here is stuff I did prior to my soundcard's failure to work. I have no idea which if any of these things are related to the problem or not. I also have know idea at what stage the sound stopped working.

- a friend came with an mp3 player (Creative ZEN Jukebox). He had some data on it (using it as a kind of external hard drive) which he wanted to transfer to my computer.

- I downloaded/installed the latest driver and plugged it (via USB) to my computer. The computer recognized the device, but for some odd reason it did not show all the data. We tried several things including re-downloading and re-installing the driver and installing a media player app by Creative but nothing worked. I uninstalled the driver and the Creative app.

(at this stage I remember my audio was fine, because I listened to some music. This was the last time I attempted to use audio before first noticing the problem)

- I realized that when installing the Creative app I had without noticing installed some bundled software that scans for... Read more

Ok guys this problem happened last march/april ish and I tried a number of things at the time to fix the issue but with no luck. I just got done working out of state for the summer and did not have my pc with me so I'm trying to have another go at fixing the problem. Summary of the issue- no problems ever with sound until one day it just stopped working. Both headphones and speakers wouldn't work even if they were plugged in. I wasn't getting any "no audio devices detected" kinds of errors or anything like that. So I tried reinstalling the realtek HD audio drivers (i was just using onboard sound at the time) and no luck. I also tried doing a few system restores to before the issue and that didn't do anything either. Finally I bought a pci-e sound card, a sounblaster cause thats all the local best buy had, installed that and still no luck with either speakers or headphones. Today I tried removing the sound card and using on board audio and still no luck. Audio device manager will recognize that I plug in my headphones into either the front speaker jack or the one on the back but just doesn't produce sound. I even opened up the pc and looked at the connections on the mobo to make sure the ones for audio hadn't come lose and that doesn't seem to be the issue either. Please any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance

A:sound stopped working completely, headphones and speakers

Post a screenshot of the Device Manager, Sound section, for starters. I'll try to help you.

Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

When you had the SoundBlaster installed, you need to disable the integrated (Realtek) audio so there are no conflicts. Also, you would need to disconnect the front panel headset/mic connection to the motherboard and connect it to the SoundBlaster to have the front panel jacks work. The SoundBlaster would have needed to be set as the default playback device, instead of Realtek if it was still enabled.

Yesterday, my speakers were working just fine, but today I turned them on and they just don't work. They can not play any sounds including system sounds. I have Windows XP Home edition. I use the speakers that came with my computer, which is a Cybertron (don't know if you have ever heard of it)... I believe the speakers are called Realtek AC'97 Audio, because that's what comes up in the Device Manager. My computer DOES recognize them, I am sure they are wired correctly, and they are set as my default sound device in all necessary categories.
I was doing all of the troubleshooting for my sound, and nothing was helping. Eventually, when I revisited the device manager, there was a driver (I was dumb enough not to write down it's name) that had an exclamation point next to it. I right clicked it and went to properties, where I was told to uninstall the driver, restart my computer, and reinstall the driver. I uninstalled it, restarted, and then forgot the name of the driver and was unable to reinstall it; however, the speakers stopped working before the driver had an exclamation point next to it. Before I uninstalled the driver, my computer played system sounds, but no other sounds. Now it can not play any sound at all.
In the device manager, the things that come up under Sound, video and game controllers are:
- Audio Codecs (Device Working Properly)
- Legacy Audio Drivers (Device Working Properly)
- Media Control Devices (Device Working Properly)... Read more

Check your volume mixer under the notification area, check your speaker settings to see if its on mute or turned down.

If everything is normal, go into the device manager and look under sound, video, and game controllers.

Hi there guys, first post here so please do mind I'm a newbie

So I've got an ASUS ROG G551JK laptop for almost 2 years already. Never had this problem before.

While I was playing CS:GO I tried to tweak the sound quality a little bit from the Realtek HD Audio Manager. The game was running and minimalized. The default sound quality was 24 bits, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality). I changed it to 24 bits, 192000 Hz and the headphones stopped working. At least while they are plugged in the laptop. I tried them with two different devices and they work just fine. So the problem is not in them for sure. Note that the build in speakers work just fine, so the sound card is ok...I think...or I hope so...

Immediately I quit CS:GO and tried to fix the problem by reinstalling the drivers of the sound card. I deleted the Realtek HD Audio Manager and reinstalled it again. Doesn't work. I deleted it again and left only the default drivers that Windows installs to run, doesn't help either. I installed previous versions of the Realtek HD Audio Manager, but didn't help. I even restored the whole Windows... without effect. I tried putting the Headphones as a default device, and it didn't work either. Updated the DirectX 12 to the latest possible version, didn't work. I spent at least 4 hours by searching all kinds of forums and threads and tried everything possible, again without any effects.

My orbicam stopped working on my Acer computer which has Aspire 5100-5023 on my notebook. After looking up the solution online, here's what I did...which did not solve the problem:

Hit Restore
selected reinstall applications/drivers
once it was finished, it brought me to a screen where I selected Windows vista. Here's where I think I screwed up. I had three choices to install a driver: Bison Camera Driver, Acer Orbicam Utility Bar (Bison), and Suyin Camera Driver. I've installed the first two at least 3X, and the suyin driver 1x. Nothing is working. Obviously I did not do it correctly.

I think everything needs to be uninstalled, then reinstalled, correct? If so, what do I need to reinstall? Thank you. Confused but think I'm on the right track. Thank you.

I recently did some housecleaning with my pc and now the audio isn't working. I had shut off some services, not windows audio service. I also used adaware programs, of which only a few low threat items were listed. Overall the system is pretty clean.
But for some reason the audio stopped working. I have updated the creative soundblaster live drivers just in case. I patched them as well. Still nothing so I uninstalled the audio. I then reinstalled it and also moved it into different pci slots. Windows picks it up each time and everything seems to work fine. If I run Windows Media Player, it acts like it's playing the music. If I run system sounds through audio in the control panel, they act like they play fine. But still no sound coming from the speakers. I switched the audio card with another. It also installed fine but still no sound. I then tested the speakers on another system and they had sound on that system.

I just don't know what could have gone wrong. I went back and reenabled all services just in case there was a dependency for Windows Audio that was keeping it from working.
I just don't understand how the light on the speaker that shows its getting audio from another system works fine, but hooking it up to this one the green light doesn't come on. It's like the signal isn't being transmitted out from Windows even though the audio programs are saying it is.

I also checked audio properties in the taskbar to make sure that for audio... Read more

I got a new computer, and it appears the integrated sound card does 100% well on my 5.1 speakers. The new motherboard's integrated soundcard has 6 audio jack-ports in the back (the typical multi-colored jacks for front/back/center/side speakers). Problem is that my speaker system only has 1 audio jack for it to go out.

Now when I test each individual speaker, it only works for the front left/right speakers. Center/Back left+right do not work.

However when I play my music (and set my speaker to "Surround" mode, sound comes out of all speakers, but more of the volume comes from the front left/right speakers.

I've tried fiddling around in the sound settings int he Control Panel to find no solution. I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem to this or not and if they managed to fix it.

I've thought about getting an optical cable and connecting it to the speaker sytem and to the computer, but I don't know if that'd help.

-Asus M4A785-M Motherboard (ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS M4A785-M)
-VIA VT1708S High Definition Audio 8-Channel Sound card
-Windows 7 64-bit
-Durabrand HT-395 Home Theater System (can't find a URL to this sytem since its pretty old)

A:VIA HD Audio Not Working w/ 5.1 Channel Speakers

This has nothing to do with Windows or the onboard audio, and everything to do with what and how you are connecting too. Found the manual for it here,

Durabrand HT395 Home Theater User Manual

If you are connecting to it using only a single cable from the computer to the HT, then you need to set it to stereo in the Windows settings as that is all that will be output. You then need to use the HT to upmix the stereo signal to surround.

Another option would be to use an optical cable from the motherboard to the HT and run it that way. At least using the optical connection anything that is native 5.1 will/should play back in 5.1 on the HT.

Weirdly, the lower case d works. None of the special characters above the malfunctioning numbers work. There wasn't any spill that I know of, but it's certainly possible water got on it somehow. Has anyone had this problem? Does it sound mechanical, IE water or some other kind of damage, or does it sound potentially like some kind of virus? And in the more likely scenario that it IS a water or dirt issue, does anyone know what kind of solution might be possible? Can the keys be easily removed and cleaned? I did already try the compressed air keyboard thing. Any help or ideas are hugely appreciated!

I should also add- when I start up the computer, the password box is full of the black dots as if a key is stuck.Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Thanks guys!

Ok, I think this has something to do with my screen saver. My ACER computer sits for a while and then an alarm goes off. The Message Unspecified error starts in a cascading block down the screen. After about 20 seconds another box pops up and the alarm stops. The new message reads ACER(N-SCR has stopped working. This started yesterday when I downloaded my #3 update to my windows vista 64. Any thoughts?

Using the above laptop my mouse pad has stopped working.
Now this may have happened when i tried an external wireless mouse by plugging it into a USB Port this works OK but if i remove it and try the mouse pad this has now ceased working.
Can any one help this elderly gentleman (80 and still going strong)
Thank you

A:Mouse pad on Acer 5290G has stopped working

Welcome to the Forum

Make sure mouse pad is still turned on.
On the older acer to turn on or off.
FN & F7 turns off the touch pad. Not sure if it is still the same. This May not be applicable to your computer, but I think that it might be.

Go to search type device manager and make sure that the driver is up to date
make sure thare are no yellow warning markers in the device manger

Try using system restore to a point, when it was working

I have read that HP also has this problem, but I have only found mixed results of success. it happened sometime after March 22nd 2015. I believe an update removed the "HID-compliant touch screen" device from device manager, it has just disappeared entirely, i have tried working with usb generic device's drivers, its not listed in there, i have tried enabling the service for HID compliant device, no luck. I have tried going to acer's website for the driver for that model, it is not there. its like they stopped supporting it. help guys, i'm stuck. i need either that driver, a third-party touchscreen software, or something short of restoring it to earlier state.

A:Acer touchscreen has stopped working after update

Open Device Manager and uninstall current monitor driver then reconnect your monitor to install Microsoft monitor generic driver.

I switched OS to Ubuntu for about a week, LoL didn't run well in Ubuntu so I reinstalled windows 8. When i open playback devices all I have is NVIDIA HDMI Output (port 0) and (port 1), both of which show unplugged and disabled. I have disabled and disconnected devices set to show, but those are all that show. I have reinstalled drivers, reinstalled windows, downloaded Realtek, enabled onboard audio in BIOS, but nothing has fixed the problem so far. When I boot into Ubuntu via USB, the audio works fine.

I have just installed the audio driver for my motherboard, restarted the computer and it seems that driver doesn't do anything at all. I have the speaker icon in the tray bar with a red 'x' on it, and it says: "No Audio Output Device is installed". Why is that? I tried the driver that's on the motherboard CD and also the one from Realtek's website, and while they are different versions, the problem is identical.

Please advise.

A:Solved: 'no audio devices' after installing audio driver

Hi, I hope someone can help hewlett packard 5552 printer has suddenly and inexplicapably begun to refuse to print anything from the internet. My computer runs on Vista. It still prints my own documents okay. I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in; can't uninstall it and start again because it doesn't appear on the programmes for some reason. The only thing I can think is that i was getting error messages about Google desktop, so I uninstalled that, and then I had this problem. Any ideas, anyone please?

So, the title says it all. The speakers of my Acer Predator 15 (Predator G9-591) are not working and taking a look at the HD Audio Manager says that the headphones jack is plugged in, even though there is nothing plugged in. I already used high pressure air cleaner, but that didn't work. I still think there is something wrong with the port.

I re-installed my drivers (based on the drivers from the Acer site), so I have no idea what else to do.

I'm running Windows 10.

I just got a brand new Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system for my laptop.

These speakers have amazing ratings, and my friends who have had them before said the ones they had sounded amazing for them, and yet they, like me, notice the following problem in mine.

The bass is great, but for some reason my system seems too bassy. Like I know I can turn down the subwoofer, but it's as if all the low/bassy sounds are always drowning out the higher/vocals, which always seem to be a bit dulled down.

I have a Lenovo Y560p laptop with Realtek HD Audio. I was thinking perhaps I have this sound problem because it doesn't let me select 2.1 for my settings, and it's stuck on "stereo". I've tried downloading and installing drivers from Realtek's website.

So my laptop was working perfectly fine last night and it had no issues whatsoever. When I switch it on this morning I find that the speakers aren't working.I tried plugging in my earphones and the sound that comes is distorted.I've tried reinstalling the audio drivers with device manager, rolling back the realtek audio drivers and then updating it with DEvice Manager, I've used the HP Support application and followed the steps given there(including the BIOS diagnostic thing where the speakers dont work and the audio coming from the earphones is Distorted).I've also updated the BIOS and the whole system inlcuding the windows version has been updated. The problem still persists. Please HELP!

Today as I turned on my Aspire V3 laptop I found the system running extremely slow. Opening task manager I found RAM and Harddrive was almost running at 100%, then I checked it was McAfee scan that came with Pre-installation that is taking up all the resources. After about 10 minutes of running like this I decided to restart my computer. However after restart many system functions are no longer working. I can no longer access task manager. either CTRL+ALT+DEL or win-r wont bring it up. Tried MSCONFIG and again it wont start after I enter the keys. System restore similarly won't start after I click the bottons. There is no internet, clicking on device manager bottons won't bring up anything, driver update bottons similarly won't bring any response,  even reset to factory default botton won't work-was able to access the menu but when clicking on bottons nothing starts. - it seems as if the whole operating system is broke.  Since this McAfee program came with the Acer laptop (it literarily says McAfee Internet security -Acer on the program menu) was wondering if anyone from Acer knows about this issue and knows how to fix it. Thanks.

Sounds like the reboot came up in safe mode. Try a shutdown, restart to see if it clears up. Rebooting while in something as intensive as a virus scan / repair is seldom safe. You should always let it continue until it's finished, even if inconvenient.
