HDMI connected monitor is blurry and seems out of focus

Q: HDMI connected monitor is blurry and seems out of focus

Hello, I built my new computer about a week ago and was running it off a single 19" Tevion TV while I waited for the HDMI cables to arrive so I could setup my second monitor.

They arrived yesterday and when I plugged in my 32" JVC LT-32DA30J there was overscanning and the bluriness. I fixed the overscanning in the TV's menu and now the size is correct but even at native resolution, the JVC monitor is still quite blurry and is a strain to look at and concentrate on.

Plugging the HDMI cable into my Tevion monitor made that go blurry as well so it could be the HDMI cable or the motherboard ports (when I first got the PC, the VGA port had the same problem but once updated it looked normal)

Does anyone know of a fix to this ? Or can at least suggest what part is going wrong so I can try and fix it ?

What I have tried:
Changing the resolution - all the different resolutions all show the same blurriness
Changing the refresh rate - problem persists through all refresh rates
Changing monitor settings - As above, changing these settings didn't help with anything

Any help is very appreciated , I've been trying to fix this problem for most of yesterday

A: HDMI connected monitor is blurry and seems out of focus

you dont seem to have changed the 2 most important things!!

1) update the display/gpu drivers.
2) change the hdmi cable.

if neither results in it working then report back!

Look at how AWFUL windows 10 fonts and text are...I have tried so many solutions that I've read about online but NOTHING has worked! I'm wondering if either windows 10 fonts will not render correctly with this monitor model or windows 10 cannot deal with the higher resolution of HDMI...I've tried that incredibly ineffective and useless 'cleartype' turned ON, have all setting 'native' for my monitor, an LG27EA63...have tried using the 'revert to windows 8' small rendering program and at least a dozen other fixes and it still looks like utter garbage as seen below....At this point, I'm thinking I should try hooking up a VGA or DMI cable , and see if that looks better than this...the font quality and general picture quality is so poor, it's causing me headaches for extended use. Anyone have any other things to try tweaking? examples below...

A:LG 27" monitor with HDMI & windows 10 = headache inducing blurry text!

This is not a high resolution monitor like 2K or 4K. Check to see what your DPI Scaling is set to, should be at recommended.
Mine is a 2K so should not be set like mine.

Nothing is showing up on the TV. I selected the Extended screen option & nothing. I looked in Display Settings & no second screen is being detected. Even though on the TV itself. It reads that a HDMI is connected to the specific HDMI port. Windows 10 says my Drivers are all updated & my Displey Driver is AMD Radeon R7 200 Series

A:HDMI connected to Monitor & the other end connted to TV

If the title of your post is accurate.....then that will never work. You have to connect the TV to the PC with an HDMI cable and then do the same thing for the monitor. You need 2 cables. No other way around it.

Try clicking the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your monitor, click playback devices, your monitor should be listed there and you need to set it as default.

Hi! I have this monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014146

and this cable

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812226013

Connected to a normal TV and HDMI to DVI cable to my lcd monitor at the same time it gave me an option at startup to switch to my HDMI source, but when I did all I saw was black on the LCD screen.

I was able to go into Display settings and switch it to HDMI manually but when it swaps to my lcd monitor its nothing but black again!

Do HDMI to DVI cables work for PS3s? My lcd monitor does not have a HDMI plug in. Only VGA and DVI

I'm hoping theres a trick to get this working or at the very least an adapter that wouldn't degrade the quality as much.

Hello, I am weighing up my options between purchasing an Ideapad 500s or a Thinkpad L460. I do a bit of video editing, and when I'm doing that kind of work I want to hook the laptop up to a 4k screen, (the extra pixels allow a much more efficient workflow). To connect to a 4k monitor at 60Hz I have read that I need a DisplayPort output (which I note that the 500s does not have), or an HDMI 2.0. I suspect that the Ideapad 500s does not have an HDMI 2.0 output, but I would be happy to be contradicted. Could someone please confirm this one way or ther other? Preferably if you could point me to some official documentation about the product which answers the question that would be great! If it does have an HDMI 2.0, I wonder if anyone has any idea how the nVidia chip would handle the 4k screen. I wouldn't be gaming or even doing and 3d modelling or rendering - just some HD video editing - so I expect it would be fine? Many thanks,Tom

I have an external monitor with no speakers I use as a dual display along with my laptop monitor. No sound comes out of my laptop speakers nor when I hook up external speakers to it while I have the external monitor hooked up by the HDMI cable. Is there anything I can do to get this to work?
Thanks,

A:HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

Right click on the volume control and then Properties,

When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.

You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

I have the same issue in windows 10 home 64 bit-
HDMI monitor no speakers-no sound from anywhere when connected?

When I right click on the volume control, the options it shows are:
open volume control
playback devices
recording devices
sounds
volume control options

It does not give me a properties option.

Then I went to control panel and searched for sound. Then I saw the screen below. There was a Digital Audio as well and I clicked 'Don't use this device(disable)' on it by mistake and clicked OK.

Now, I only have Speakers option. How do I get the Digital Audio option back in here? I think that will solve my original problem.

Thanks

Hello all. I just noticed this issue on my computer a few days ago and it's been bothering me. Some of the icons for the tiles on my Windows 8 are blurry. It's nothing major, but they're not as crisp or high resolution as I remember. It's only noticeable when the live tiles are either turned off, or the tiles aren't displaying any updates at the moment.

Here's a picture:
http://i.imgur.com/rWIZb.png
You can see that with Mail, Skydrive, Camera, Maps, Music, and Store, the icons are all a little bit fuzzy and not as high resolution as they should be. This occurs with all other tiles as well when the live function is turned off. Is this intended or not? I know it's minor but it really bothers me.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine. Any ideas??

A:Monitor Speakers not working when connected via HDMI to laptop

make sure you have the latest drivers for the hdmi can check by going to the windows start bar and right clicking on computer and choosing manage then click device manger and open the tab were it says sound, video and game controllers if you see somthing related to hdmi and has a yellow triangle then right click on it and update software if no yellow triangle is there try it anyways if that doesn't help then post here again, hopefully someone who knows more about hdmi can help also because i never had hdmi but ive had audio problems with my speakers before and this is how ive fixed it before

Using ACER K272HUL 31 inch monitor, connected via HDMI to my Y700-15ISK Laptop (ideapad). I am still in warranty according to my support account. (I did however swap out the default hard drive for another one purchased elsewhere) Here's what is happening: certain parts of the monitor with motion will remain colored while static parts will gray out. Here's a reddit thread I submitted to /r/techsupport. In hopes of utilizing two communities. So far, Bad HDMI port seems to be highest contender. I had a Y50-70 before this Y700 whose HDMI port was rather poor in quality; did not seat well, breathing on it wrong disconnected from monitor. It would not surprise me if that is the root problem.

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 7559 connected to Dell U2713HM monitor over HDMI can't do 2560x1440 resolution in Windows 10

Hi JonoBloo,
The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.

Hiya people I am having a problem with my TV or it could be my graphics card anyway I have the Nvidia gforce 9500 GT connected to my 32" LCD tv via DVI to HDMI but when I have it connected via HDMI port 1 on my TV the picture becomes blurry and I have scaling problems but I can fix the scaling problems. Anyway once I sort out the scaling problem the picture looks blurry and it looks like the brightness is set too high I have tried changing it in the nvidia control pannel and the same with my tv but it still stays the same.

Anyways when i connect it via HDMI port 2 on my TV the picture runs perfect the brightness is fine as well as the scaling and also the picture looks alot more vibrant and does not have the grayish look and I dont have to mess about with any of the settings. and when I have my Xbox 360 or my ps3 on this port the picture looks hell of alot better as the picture looks more vibrant and the black seems to be better on this port too

anyways anyone know if there is a fix for this!? if so HELP!

if you need to know any of my specs or settings or make of tv let me know and I shall post it as soon as i can

Hi, I just setup a Gateway 21" LCD monitor on a computer at work and cannot adjust the display settings to show a clear and crisp picture.

The problem is mainly blurry text however even at optimum resolution the screen still looks "stretched".
I should note that the ideal resolution for the monitor is 1680 x 1050 which is not an option in the display>appearance settings. I have set it to the closest setting.

I'm guessing this computer pre-dates LCD displays but really don't know much about monitor compatibility issues.
Any one experience any problems when upgrading monitors?

The computer is running:
Win2000 SP4
Pentium 4 @ 2.2GHz
512 MB RAM
40 GB HD

Thanks for the help!

A:New LCD Monitor Blurry

If your video card does not support the 1680 x 1050 resolution it will continue to look blurry.... this is a major problem with LCD's and running them out of "native" resolution.

Can you tell us what video card your using if onboard tlel us the type of adapter currently loaded and the make model of the pc. As well a make model of the LCD may help us determine what you can do..

Also alot of video cards you can go into the advanced properties of the adapter and then find a button that says list all modes (mine is in the Adapter type section) and see if your video card even supports 1680 x 1050 at any htz.

If it doesn't you will have to upgrade video cards and make sure the video card you buy supports the resolution you need.

Hi,

This is a clean Windows 10 installation.
OS: W10 Home
GPU driver: AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series
Monitor 2: Dell ST2410

This happens approx after 30 min. W10 has been installed.
Before, opening FF would be crystal clear, or any other application, for instance Skype, was clear too.

In order to replicate, I reformatted the system 3 times and it seems the change occurs when the attached message appears.
Regardless, whether you click Go or Close, the problem starts.

Settings in the AMD Panel are as they where before, nothing changed there.
In FF, changing the compatibility view to 'disable display scaling on high DPI setting' partially solves the problem, but it is not the solution because when you do it, the page shows bigger fonts, it looks zoomed to 110% (but it is not in the browser) while the text should stay as previously.

This must be a bug but so far, I was unable to find a clean fix on the internet.

Hope you can help.

Thank you
Alex

Is it blurry in all modes? If you shut down to DOS mode, while booting, etc?

If so, there isn't much you can do, other than take it to a shop to have it worked on. I had one like that not too long ago - cost me about $40 to have it fixed. Some kind of oxidation or something on the contacts that needed cleaning.

I made sure it was not a resolution problem (tried all of the resolutions available) and it is not a refresh rate issue.

Could it be a driver issue? See screenshot.

Some monitors have adjustments on the back for sharpness and clarity or something similar, you could check yours to see if it has any of those. Other than that, I'd say your better off writing the old thing off.

I have a MAG DJ707 17" monitor. It is about 18 months old. I've been noticing more and more lately that the screen appears to be out of focus. It is really bad when I first power-up in the morning, then it's gets better, but by the evening it is *REAL* bad. I have noticed that if I lower the contrast to about 50%, the image is much sharper, but then of course everything is real dim.

I've checked, and I have the most current drivers installed. I hope I don't need physical repais, as that would cost nearly as much as the monitor did

Thanks

Most 17" monitors have 24 or 36 month warranties on them, so you may not have to pay to have it fixed.

Can you test it on another computer, to make sure it really is the monitor?

First for safety reasons (high voltage even when off) you do not want to go inside the monitor. The controls in there also probaly would do you no good. You could have a shop check it out but it would probably cost quite a bit to fix it.

does anyone have a source for info regarding adjusting the focus on an NEC monitor that is out of focus?? I have found the horizontal and vertical yoke adjustments but am unable to find the focus adjustment.

thanx.........d.

A:monitor focus

Focus is normally in the region of the EHT flyback transformer (where the high voltage lead that attaches to the side of the CRT somes from).

It's not a physical adjustment like a deflection yoke, its a preset potentiometer.

You need to be very very careful as it's usually at the full EHT potential of ~ 25,000 volts DC.

Some may even be inside the metal EHT "cage" if there is one, to make sure you can't touch it!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Have you made sure your graphics card driver is up to date?

Have you tried starting your PC up in safe mode and seeing if the problem still persists?

Please ensure you have done both of these and then post back; it would also be helpful if we knew your system specifications which you can fill in under 'User CP'.

Also does the task bar appear on the primary monitor or secondary monitor?

I have an HP75 monitor (Hewlett Packard) which was a free gift I was lucky enough to get that was stored in a warehouse not being put to any use. I've had it since around mid last year. Around November I left for a few days to be in a wedding. When I came back the monitor had some discoloration to it (it had been turned off for a while). By discoloration I mean the Red/Blue seemed to have been messed with. After about an hour it was fine. Then about a week ago the monitor started flickering and went blurry for several days and I could barely read it. Then suddenly it "fixed" itself and has been working fine for about a week now.

When I have the chance I am going to get a 19" anyway, but I'm kind of curious if anyone knows what the cause of this may be. I'm running at [email protected] When I got the monitor I looked online for the spec's to see which hertz settings could be used in the supported resolutions and I've been running it that way ever since so I'm hoping that multiple sources that I checked weren't wrong about the monitor spec's.

Anyway, just curious .

A:Monitor goes blurry sometimes - but rare

Is it one with 5-cable BNC-connectors rather than the standard VGA-plug?
Have you tried to "degauss" it (check in the monitor's menu), installed proper drivers etc?

I just purchased a Samsung 930B TFT-LCD Monitor. I read a lot of reviews by people who owned this monitor, and it seemed a good choice for my budget. I had to play with the controls for a while to get the brightness and contrast balanced so it would not blind me. All is well except for the blurry words in certain areas of the screen. The only place the words are blurry is in three vertical lines; left, center, and right side of the screen. The lines are about one inch wide and run from top of the screen to the bottom. I have the Cleartype on and have done the tweaking I read about on this website. That helped the overall look of the print, but I still have the blurring problem on those three strips I mentioned above. I had this problem on the first 930B I bought last Sunday, so yesterday, I exchanged it for this one. I am still having the same problem, so now I am wondering if it is my computer. Anyone have any suggestions? I only have until next Sunday to return this monitor if that is what I need to do. I am not very computer literate, so be gentle. Thanks!

I don't know what system info you need, but here is what is on my paperwork:

Have a user with a Sony vaio laptop, 15" screen, 1920x1080. They also plug an HDMI cable into a 23" dell widescreen monitor for a second display. This 23" monitor is also 1920x1080. They are complaining that fonts on this second monitor are blurry. They tried to live with it a week but they said can it be made clear again like it was when they had Windows 7?

Are you familiar with the possibility of fonts being blurry only on one monitor if they are both set to the native?

I'm asking them to see if they change the font dpi to 100%, logoff and on if its any better. For whatever reason that seemed to work for my laptop (another Sony Vaio), but my concern is they will be disappointed at legibility on the laptop screen (it makes everything tiny).

A:Fonts really blurry on one monitor

What types of GFX does this laptop in question have? I know I had problems with my Sony Vaio laptop, basically used it a as home cinema system. Plugged into a 32" TV in the bedroom. I had the same issue with texts on web pages, but the video on fullscreen was perfect.

If I remember rightly a latest driver update for intergrated graphics that worked for me but a friend just told me who I am working with right now that, go into the control panel and check the MHZ of the 2nd Screen and check if they are below 60mhz, if thats all fine try changing the resolution downscaling it, then put it back up to 1980 x 1020.

Hope it Helps.

Hi,

I just upgraded from a 15" CRT to a 19" Widescreen TFT monitor.

I have plugged it all in and its great but.. what ive noticed is in the center of the monitor text etc looks a little blurry, but if you look elsewhere on the screen its fine.

I just bought it so it shouldn't be faulty...

The only thing I might know what it is but I need confirmation and help etc is that I have surround sound speakers.. 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer.

I have 2 of the 5 speakers right behind the monitor and the subwoofer is next to it about 1ft away.

Could this be the reason its blurry or is there anything else I can check for?

Its an EMPREX 19" WS

Thanks

A:Monitor Blurry In The Middle

I don't think the sub should be causing a problem since it's a LCD, but try moving it away just to be safe.

The best way to check it would be to hook it up to another computer if you can. If you still have the blurring then you've most likely got a faulty monitor.

If not, it may be an issue with your video card.

Good Luck.

More than likely the monitor will not handle the 1024 x 768 resolution, I would suggest trying a different monitor possibly borrow one from a friend to try.

It also could be a problem with the display adapter (video card) what is the make and model number of video card?

I have just built a computer and I bought a new 22 inch LCD LED monitor that was on sale in ebuyer.
http://www.ebuyer.com/280625-lg-e2211s-bn-lcd-led-21-5-monitor-e2211s-bn

The display blurred to the right, it's worst when black goes to right (see attached photo).
I have tried using LG's drivers for that monitor but I don't know if I am installing right, I go into control panel search for display, click change display settings, click advanced settings, properties, 'driver' tab, update driver. Then click on browse my computer and select the folder with the LG driver. After that it says the best driver software is already installed (which is intel HD graphics).

Another way I tried installing the driver which looked a bit more promising, was to click browse for drivers and instead of clicking browse and selecting the folder. Click let me pick from a list of drivers, click have disk then click on the folder with the LG driver. After that it says to chose between analog or digital. Both don't change anything.

Thanks

Question: Is there any way to adjust the focus on a flat screen CRT monitor these days? It's about 3 years old. Color is excellent, games and graphics are fine and run well. I use the latest Catalyst drivers.Tried the Omega tweaked drivers, too. No problems there either. All this with one exception. Text, such as this, always appears a little fuzzy, not crisp and sharp. I usually run at 1024 X 768 resolution. I've tried lesser resolutions and the refresh rate anywhere from 70-100 MHz. Not much difference. In fact, the higher it is, the more fuzzy it appears.

I've tried with and without font smoothing. Not a whole lot of change.

I did some research and some monitors can have focus adjusted by taking off the back cover and twiddling with some internal controls. Not something for the untutored and unwary, I'm sure.

Why don't they have such controls accessible to the cinsumer? I can do everything else from the buttons on the front--except adjust focus. This seems like such a basic funtion. Thanks.

This is a first for my monitor, but this morning when I turned it on it quickly began to flash bright horizontal lines randomly on the screen with an audible clicking noise per horizontal blip. Now it is phasing in and out of being blurry with the same clicking noise. However, just as I am writing this I just received a laser light show of blips. So, it seems to be going back and forth between blips and fuzzy.

Any thoughts? I am working on a Dell Precision 530 Workstation and the monitor is a Sony Trinitron. I am checking on Dell's website, but I haven't found any definite solution yet.

I am working with WinXP and the video card is an NVIDIA Quadro4 700 XGL. Thanks.

Hi all,

I have had my computer (Dell 3000, WinXP) for about 18 months. Today I noticed that the text on the screen looks blurry, but not all of it. It is almost as if someone has taken their finger and smudged a line from top to bottom of the screen (in a few places) so that one or two letters in those (vertical) lines look blurry or smudged. Any ideas as to what is going on and why?

TIA.
UPDATE: I changed my monitor's refresh rate to 75Hz from 60 Hz and that seems to have solved the problem. I am not sure why it changed itself . .

I have a PC that I just upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32 bit from Windows XP and now I'm having trouble with the display on my Syncmaster 953BW Monitor. Everything is blurry and the monitor wants to run at 1440 x 900 resloution which is supposed to be the native resloution for the monitor. Everything on the screen also seems really narrow and doesn't full by the browser like it should.

When I try to drop down to a lower resolution, the display area on the monitor shrinks and I can't figure out how to stretch it out to fit the screen. At a lower resolution, things do not seem as blurry to me. I don't know how to fix this problem. I hope the following specs are enough to give you all the information you need to maybe help me out!

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
The screen shot doesn't look all that bad to me so I would take a picture with a camera and post it to see if there's any difference
Make sure you turn off the flash of course.

I saw your using ie11 ?
Open it and Gear symbol on the top right and internet options or access control panel and internet options,
Go to the Advanced section and Check the top box there Use software rendering instead of gpu rendering,
Apply and okay.
Close ie11 and restart your machine and see if that makes any difference

Otherwise your graphic's card is pretty low end 512mb
You might think of up[grading it ?

Also if you haven't already try to calibrate your monitor or test with another one.

Hello Techies,

I have a really weird problem on my hands. Today when I logged on to browse my youtube subscriptions, I clicked a video and 20 seconds into it, my screen went shot and pixelated lines appeared and the screen went competely blurry.

I have no idea what could have caused the problem as I haven't downloaded anything or visited any random sites. My first impulse was to perform a system restore, which I attempted and after 5 attempts, after the computer restarted I would get an error box saying that an unspecified error occured and the system restore failed.

My CPU has HP 2159 Series Wide LCD Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

I don't know if my system acquired a virus somehow but this is really a dire problem that I need fixed ASAP. I have checked my graphic drivers and they are all up to date.

The problem also persists when shutting down or starting up.

Just discovered - On bootup, a strange graphic appears where a lot of green C-shaped objects start flickering right before the windows loadup.

Update- I just downloaded the newest Nvidia Gforce driver and the problem still persists.

I don't know if this is a problem with my monitor or my CPU.

Almost assuredly time for a new monitor. Either the CRT itself, or the pulses from the flyback transformer. The automatic screen control. The fact that it is focused at startup means it is raising the screen control as it runs. likely it is unable to compensate for the CRT, or the return pulse is telling the main board to raise the screen level. Either way, a repair would likely exceed the cost of a better LCD monitor. A Guy

I have the scaling on my laptop display set to 125% and the scaling on my external monitor set to 100%. Both displays have 1920x1080 resolution. The laptop is connected to the monitor using a VGA cable via a OneLink adaptor. Windows Store applications, Windows Explorer, and Microsoft Edge look sharp on both displays. However some applications that I use a lot only look sharp on one display and look a bit blurry/fuzzy on the other. Examples are Google Chrome and Microsoft Word. They are sharp on whichever display is set as primary, and blurry/fuzzy on whichever is non-primary (i.e. it changes when I change the primary display). If I set the scaling to be the same on both displays (i.e. both 100% or both 125%) these applications look sharp on both displays. Do others experience this issue?Apart from setting both displays to the same scaling (which is not ideal) is there anythig I can do to resolve this? Thanks

My current setup involves a single monitor, DisplayPort connection, and 1920 x 1080 desktop resolution. No matter what settings I try my games and videos are blurry and appear to render at a much lower refresh rate than they should.

I've fiddled with the monitor, and found that setting trace free at 100 enables a weird ghosting effect, which is not so bad at 80. I've switched between DisplayPort and DVI-D Dual Link, going so far as to switch the DVI between the Analog and Digital outputs of my Graphics Card with little-to-no difference.

I have played several games with the Fraps framerate display enabled: Dragon Age: Origins, Deus Ex (the old one), Descent: Freespace, and Skyrim. The framerate remained above 120 fps in DAO, a constant 144 in Deus Ex (with the special launcher), 120 in Freespace, and 144 in Skyrim (though 144fps Skyrim is too buggy to play). I have also tried various Vsync settings to no avail.

They all appear blurry when they should be sharp, and I get screen tearing on some games. My mouse has a relatively low dpi, so I only test the visual quality using keyboard commands. Using the UFO Frame Test, the image is blurred in four possible refresh rates: 144, 120, 100, and 85. I have also installed the Toasty X Strobelight tool; whether Lightboost is on or off, the only difference is in monitor brightness.

I upgraded to a proper gaming computer several months ago, because I have heard that the jump from 60 to 120+ is at least noticeable (if not bea... Read more

I recently purchased a VGA Y Splitter to connect both my PC and my Xbox together onto one monitor. A 19 Inch Widescreen Samsung SyncMaster 923nw. Before I had connected my PC's VGA cable into the Y splitter, the picture quality was fine. I connected the monitor's VGA cable and the Y Splitter, the quality of my screen decreased significantly, and there was bad ghosting. So I took it out and connected the VGA cable back into my monitor, and the picture quality was better, but still not that great. The text is fuzzier than it was before, and I haven't seemed to find any resolve. I have updated the drivers of my graphics card and my monitor, yet the fuzzy text is still there. Is there any way that I can get rid of this blurry text problem?

check the cable on the monitor side ,
check if your graphic card is locked tightly with the screw ,

safest is to take out the gfx and re plugging it back in while making sure its

tight again.

Hi,

So eagerly i tought to buy this cool looking laptop for a huge $2000 i needed it to output to a hdmi monitor ot TV so sometimes i could see movies as well, now i had to buy the special DA200 dell adaptor and in the past 3 weeks it`s been a complete nightmare, i WAS NEVER ABLE to make it work permanently. The chat support was no help at all usually simply resuming to try and replace the part but i do think the part is good and i didn't feel like waiting 2 weeks for it to ship from china.

The ethernet and usb work on the DA200 adaptor , EXCEPT HDMI.  SOMETIMES it would work briefly until next restart, i had tried everything ever available on the internet. The laptop is running Windows 10 (as it`s restricted to that version, i tried to install other versions with lots of issues and compatibility issues) so  i have installed reinstalled and installed different versions of the video driver for all possible windowses and none worked. what did work was very brief until next restart and that usually happened when i had a fresh windows install, after the first restart i will get a non working hdmi again.

I have tried several hdmi cables so i know it`s not the hdmi cable or the tv ot the monitor. and nobody seems to be able to help!!

i hooked up my freshly reformatted computer to the monitor and the dsl connection. the last person to used the same exact monitor and same exact dsl modem/connect had no problem but they also had a very old computer

when windows desktop opened up, instead of the monitor screen showing one windows desktop, the monitor screen showed 4 windows desktop. all fuzzy, all vibrating, all blury, all vibrating.i immediately thought i fried the computer cleaning out the dust earlier. then another person hooked up
his new and newly reformated computer to the same monitor and dsl connection and the monitor did the same thing as to his!,4 blurry desktops opened up.

a third person, without a reformated new computer, hooked up his computer and the monitor screen worked,no 4 desktops. he then reformatted his

Hello.

I have a problem/question about my monitor...
It is an LCD Benq, model I think is E900WA, (I cannot see all labels because of the mounted stand). Says is 2007 model if it matters.

Problem is: when I move the monitor VGA cable just a bit, it changes image quality, pixels look a bit blurry and somehow shifted to right.
Somehow like this, this is not an actual screen because I don't think it appears in printscreen:

If for example I would have a black box on white page, then it would look like the second image I posted.

In certain positions it looks ok but if I move monitor a bit it can get blurry again, and this blur is hard to notice it but after many hours is bad for the eyes.

Is it just a low quality cable or monitor? Should I get another cable?
Maybe something around the computer can cause these problems?

Any ideas?

Well I mean I can't say for 100% that its not the monitor port, but I would be incline to say that it is just the cable. Hopefully you don't have one with the cable built in.

Do you have another computer that you could pull the VGA cable off of and test and see if you have the same issue?

I have a new 21 inch samsung flat screen monitor. I have followed all instructions (native screen resolution, etc) and no matter what I do the text is blurry when it is plugged into my desktop (Dell Dimension 4500) it is 6 years old.

When I plug the new monitor into my Dell laptop (Latitude D620) every thing is crystal clear.

I have my settings set the same on both computer. Is it possible that my graphic card in my desktop can't handle it?

My Desktop has a nvidia geforce4 mx420.

Hello all, this is my first post on these forums. I just wanted to ask this question.

I recently purchased a : 24" LCD HDTV / Monitor for use as a monitor, but I have a few serious questions.

Well currently at the time of righting this post I am using the above monitor, and I have to squint to even read my text.

Some details:
Native resolution is 1920 x 1080, but I had to manually change it to 1828 x 1030 for it all to be within the screen (at native, things were outside).

I am using a HDMI cable to connect my monitor to my Nvidia Geforce GTS 250

Seeing as it is a good connection (HDMI) with a good resolution and 1080p, not to meniton the good video card it shouldn't be like this.

The text is so unbearable to read that I have to squint and be really close to even read what I am typing right now. The text just doesn't look right, it is very blurry and fuzzy looking. Everything else is mostly fine as far as pictures and videos and stuff, but there is like a white-border esque to the text and small images. I tried changing the sharpness and other various settings on the TV / Monitor but that didn't help anything.

If somebody could help me to make my new LCD TV (that I use as a monitor...) to look good and have the text clear please let me know!
Answers highly appreciated, thanks!

I have it hooked up with HDMI (brand new gold plated cable). The text especially is blurry/fuzzy and the screen doesn't take up all the space it should - about 1/2" at the top and sides, bottom is ok. The guy at View Sonic support said it was a video card issue and I would have to figure it out with HP or Intel. Can anyone help me? I have Intel HD graphics. The monitor is Viewsonic VX2270-Smh-LED. It's 21.5" 1080p frameless IPS display.

A:Trouble with Spectre x360 and Viewsonic Monitor, blurry text...

Hi @butlerll, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Spectre Notebook and the HDMI port not working correctly. Try running the Windows updater Tool. Here is a link to help troubleshoot the HDMI Display. If the Notebook is not having an issue displaying anything on the Notebook screen, it is not a graphics card. Please get back to me how this goes. Thanks for being a part of the HP community. Please let me know if this help resolves the issue by marking this post as Accept as Solution.  Thanks.

I had to reformat my PC and now I have a problem. I am sure I had this same problem the last time I reformatted my PC too, but I forgot how I fixed it.

Basically, my screen is now blurry. And when I scroll on any webpage, it goes very slow. Also, when I move a window around on the screen, it moves very slow and you can see trails of the window appearing behind the main one and disappearing after a second. It's clear the monitor isn't liking the rate of speed things are being moved at on-screen.

I have changed the resolution, put it to the resolution the monitor suggests, and tried fiddling with all the setttings.

When I got to Desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor, there is a section that says 'monitor settings'. But the drop down bar that is next to 'screen refresh rate' has only one option: use hardware default setting.

The box below saying 'hide nodes that this monitor cannot display' is faded out so I cannot check or uncheck it. Don't know if that is bad or not.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this. I know I've done it before. Need an answer ASAP though because my family want to use the PC =/

Many thanks!

I've been running 2 extra monitors - VGA (737 CDU) and a LCD 12.1

I turned my monitor on this morning and my main was blank but its was on and my LCD was blank. I unplugged both monitors and my main came back on. So i figured out its my LCD 12.1 HDMI thats stealing my main monitor. I have tried everything possible.

Does anyone know why its stealing my main monitor. It should not do this

Os7

GTX 780

A:Totally give up 2nd monitor setup steals main focus

Just an update. If i use my LCD only it works fine but soon as i plug that VGA in, everything switches over to the VGA. But my VGA monitor is blank because it only switches on with my 737 NGX plane in prepart3D flightsim, so when i do configure everything back to my main and i switch off my PC it messes up again.

But its been working months before though

First of all sorry if it's not that Windows related!
So the problem is that my LCD TV has a scrambled picture when my computer is turned on and connected to the TV via HDMI. I got analog signal TV connection but the picture is fine while the PC is turned off. Yeah I know I should get digi TV but till then I would like to sort this out. The TV is a Samsung 40" LCD model LE40A336. It has 2 HDMI input ports. Tryed both with same results. BTW if I remember it right, I had the PC connected via VGA last weekend and didn't have this problem. I will double check it in the morning.
Maybe I'm using wrong setting with PC... wrong Hz or sth. Anyhow maybe someone has had similar problems and solved it.
PC:
GTX 470 DVI->HDMI
i5 2500K
Windows 7 x64
EDIT: The TV is the only monitor connected to the PC via HDMI. Sound is passing through the HDMI cable aswell.

the VGA doesn't transfer data signals through digital technology, it uses analog, that's why the picture appears correct on the VGA, the HDMi though uses a technology called HDCP handshaking, the PC needs to handshake the display for it to show the images being encrypted from the desktop, if that handshake doesn't take place then the image will appear scrambled.

you can read up about HDCP here High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia but your options are just to use the VGA cable, or if it is a software fault then ... Read more

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx laptop. TV is Dynex LCD (one of those no name brand ones ) I checked the drivers on the laptop, they all seem to be up to date. However when I go to Control panel-Sound-Manage audio devices, there is no icon with an HDMI label to select for playback device. How do I add the driver for HDMI (to select)?

I have scanned (and tried) numerous suggestions on this type of a problem on different sites on the web (including this one, under a different thread)

Any suggestions, other than try a new cable?
Thank you in advance.

A:No audio When PC connected to TV by HDMI

Welcome to SevenForums.

In Sounds / Playback make sure it is not disabled and hidden.
Rt click on the Sounds / Playback window to make sure "Show Disabled Devices" is checked.

If it is not there open Device Manager to see if is listed and there are no errors.
You can open Device Manger from Start/Search

Hello everyone!

First of all i would like to thank everyone for the answers and help you share and i am new to this forum. I tried to search before making this thread but i havent found any answer that could help me.

I just bought 2 LCD monitors ( Acer and Asus) they all work perfectly But i have a problem, a huge one. The Asus monitor refuses to work when the VGA (acer) is connected and vice versa.

The Asus is a 23" LCD monitor, its connected via HDMI.
The Acer is a 18,5" LCD monitor, its connected via VGA.
My laptop is an Acer 7736, 2,20 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, 1GB graphic card from ATI Radeon.
So i beg you please to help me, i have tried everything possible, been trying for the last 7 hours and i even downloaded Ultramon but it doenst work either.

I only want them to work in same time, what can i do?

Here is the link, i even tried updating the drivers on the graphic card but nothing works.
Thanks in advance!!!

A:HDMI trouble when VGA connected

A lot of laptops do not have the ability to go to more than two monitors (Edit: this is including laptop as monitor). You can probably have both work if you close your laptop lid, otherwise, only the laptop and VGA or laptop and HDMI will work. (Edit: if you close laptop lid, the two monitors VGA and HDMI will work but only with laptop monitor closed)

I think there is a piece of hardware you can purchase that can turn a USB port into and external display adapter, but I don't know if it was GFX card specific or if your card needs or supports a particular piece.

My laptop suffers from this as well. I tried it and confirmed it after seeing issue on this forum a few weeks ago.

You need to adjust the graphics settings for the correct resolution for the TV.

I have the 2nd setup through a vga to hdmi cable but it just sits there black with "check signal cable."

2nd monitor is an lg2241

Tried:

- multiple re-boots
- downloaded a driver from LG but don't see that it did any kind of install. Double clicking it's zip file opened it and clicking on the three files did nothing but open gibberish code.
- at screen resolution I see multiple displays and I have it set on extended.
- Clicked detect and identify
- #2 says display device on vga
- tried unplugging and reconnecting the cable (hdmi to vga)

I'm lost. SOS!

lol!

Thx,
Dave

A:Dual monitor setup hdmi to vga on 2nd monitor shows nothing

Dave welcome to the Seven Forums.

That cable won't work unless the VGA port on the computer/laptop supports digital (highly unlikely), as VGA is an analogue signal and HDMI is digital. To get it to work you would need some kind of converter not an adapter, which that cable essentially is.

Assuming this is your monitor,

LG E2241V-BN: 22" Full HD LED LCD Monitor | LG USA

is says it has a VGA port on it. If it does then just use a plain old VGA cable.

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me.

I updated to windows 10 some months ago and realized my beats audio panel was gone. I few day back I re installed the High Definition Audio Device drivers and beats audio seems to came back.

I recently bought a denon amplifier and noticed very low sound when I connect the notebook to the amplifier through hdmi.
Is the hdmi sending the wrong signal? are there any new drivers for hdmi controllers or realtek sound card?
My laptop is a HP envy 17 j011nr (i think so) core i5 beats audio
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

A:Low sound when connected to amplifier through hdmi

Realtek shouldn't even be involved with the HDMI sound. I suggest to update your laptop's drivers and use "Intel Display Audio" as your HDMI driver. Set the volume to max then you're good to go.

Today my notebook Asus M50Vn suddenly started to behave weird. While it's connected to plasma via HDMI, everything starts to stutter a bit, which is very inconvenient in videos. It works like this: 0,5 s of fluid picture, 0,1 s of freeze, 0,5 s of fluid picture, and so on.

Situation is the same on primary (built-in) monitor and secondary (plasma), as well as on youtube, VLC, PotPlayer and MPC HC. DXVA and CUDA won't make any difference, choosing different video renders in player's settings won't do the help as well. I've already tried to install older and newer drivers (graphics is Geforce 9650m GT) but it didn't help.

Computer is 100 % virus free, there is COMODO IS for on-access security and I've also checked it with malwarebytes, hitman pro, emsisoft emergency kit, kaspersky tdss killer and CCE. Almost all processes are disabled.

It's interesting because there's no problems when plasma is connected via VGA.

Unfortunately there's no useful system restore points.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

A:Notebook Is Slow While Connected To HDMI

Well normally I'd have said it was just your laptop struggling to upscale the image due to hardware limitations. But a 9650gt should be more than capable.
What happens if you disable the laptop screen and just use the tv as a primary monitor?

Erm.. Try a different HDMI lead and lower the resolution a little. But that's clutching at straws lol

I wish to connect the HDMI to a video projector and the audio port to a sound mixing desk. Either audio or video works fine alone but when both cables connected am getting high-pitched feedback into the sound system. I have tried disabling HDMI as an audio device but it makes no difference. Have tried more than one HDMI and audio cable - same result.

Decided to run this old laptop to my TV so that I could watch shows from online. When I connected using an HDMI cable the sound cuts in and out very bad. Thought the cable might be bad so I switched it out for a new high dollar cable but still has the same problem. Issue occurs both streaming and when testing using system sounds (such as "test" in the sound setup in device manager). Running Windows 10 (64-bit) and have installed all system updates and have tried updating the audio driver but it is saying I have the most up to date driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I just did a fresh install of Win 8.1 last week and my TV which is connected via HDMI is not getting detected as a display on my PC. My monitor was detected fine.

When i right click my desktop and go to screen resolution, the TV doesnt show up there even post clicking detect. Same if i go into AMD CCC and click on detect.

However Win 8.1 can detect it. The TV is seen in device manager under digital media device and i can see the TV under Devices and Printers in Control Panel. I've tried troubleshooting it but it says everything is fine.
But I need it to come up as a display so i can use it as a primary display at times or to duplicate display.

I had no such problems with Win 7. It would detect right off the bat.

Things ive tried:-
I've installed the Omega 14.12 drivers and the Beta 15.4 drivers.
I've tried installing them in Win 7 compatibility mode too, but the installer then wouldnt give me the option to install the display driver and the HDMI audio driver.

One thing i notice is that the driver for the TV is provided by Microsoft and the date of the driver is 6/21/2006! So maybe this needs to be updated. I tried to click on update driver but it says my driver is up to date.

I also have all the latest windows updates installed.

so not sure what else to do here.

Please help.

A:Win 8.1 - TV connected via HDMI not detected as a Display

The 2006 device driver is simply the generic one which is normal, same one I get when TV is plugged in.
What HDMI port are you using? One on motherboard or one coming directly from GPU? This almost has to be a graphics driver problem.
Why would you try installing drivers in 7 compatibility mode? We are talking 8.1 here right? Have you tried drivers from manufacturers site?
A laptop or desktop? Motherboard and GPU make/model?
So, so many details you've left out.
Would help to have some system specs.

I am aware of right clicking the volume icon and clicking on "playback devices" to set defult the HDMI cable or TV. Unfortunaly, this is not visible even after enabling the disconnected and disabled devices. Please, anyone help so I can get the audio on my TV as well? I've let a screenshot. As a reminder, my HDMI is connected on both sides, and I have both disconnected and disabled devices visible. Thank you!
