CD Rom Autostart games function not opening the games directly

Q: CD Rom Autostart games function not opening the games directly

The autostart function is not working properly. When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. It's imposible to play games that require the insertion of the disc into the CD Rom Drive, for the same reason. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks. Im running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have a LG Super Multi Rw\DVD +R DL Light scribe multirecorder.

When I put a game cd into the drive, it won't autostart and this particular cd has autostarted before. If I go to my computer and right click the drive, I have the option to autoplay. I have also checked my registry keys and all is fine.

I have recently got a new computer which has Windows Vista on it.

I installed the game 'Dawn of War: Dark Crusade' on it and it works perfectly, but I when I connect to the Internet I am not allowed to connect to any games, only create them. I think this has something to do with security or Firewall or administrator but I have already removed the firewall. Please help.

I need a solution. Barring that I need a baseball bat.

I want to disable my function key abilities completely so games or other apps can use them normally. Windows seem to take over these functions with the stuff like brightness, sound, turn airplane mode on/off.. what i need is a registry hack or something to to fix this. There is a app in control panel that allows you to access some, not all of these functions.. Windows Mobility Center - but still you cannot turn them off at all. I do not need or want any of these features on my function keys.

How to do this?

These are shortcut keys manufactures started putting on keyboards a few years back.. They used to be called Multimedia keyboards - these functions were never standard for a keyboard. I feel like MS has some nerve taking over my function keys like this in a way where i cannot easily turn these off.

Aside from that, i think this forum should have a Registry hacks section. I used to use another forum - forgot it's name for use with XP. If anyone knows of the name of a windows 8 forum with lists of registry hacks please let me know.

A:Windows takes over my Function keys - Games cant use them

Windows does not take over function keys. Every app can redefine function keys as they see fit, and Windows does not override them (with a few exceptions, of course, like ctrl-alt-del).

In general, the app gets first crack at any keypress. So, if this is happening, that means there's another reason for it. Do you have any third party hokey apps? Or anything that might watch keyboard input?

Using Windows XP - when my husband first goes into "Games" program that came with the computer, a pop-up comes on the display and it says "Windows has encountered a problem and it has to close, do you want to send a report" This happens at least once a day.

What is causing this - how can I resolve it?

Hello, you've helped me out alot in the past so i'm hoping you can figure this one out for me because i really don't know what to do.

Basically a select amount of my games just don't start up when i try opeing them and i get this really annoying error message when i try to open them:

The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

It only happens on like FIFA 08, EURO 2008 and some others most probably but i haven't found anymore yet.

Now for the really strange thing, i can start Call Of Duty 4 up and then when i close it and try to start them games that wouldn't work before then now they do. But then restarting my computer and trying to open the troubled games will give me the error message again until opening up COD4 again.

Really strange I really haven't any ideas, only thing i can think of is maybe it could be something to do with because i have both a standard 15" lcd monitor and a 32" lcd tv hooked up to my computer on Clone view in nvidia settings.

My friends have been playing Gunbound for a few weeks now (without me :/ ) and I've been trying to get it to work to no avail.

When I log in at the NyxLauncher, the Launcher window closes, and the mouse shows the "busy" animation, but Gunbound does not open. My friends and dorm roommates are able to play just fine. Two have Windows XP, one has Vista, and two have Windows 7. None of us can figure out why Gunbound doesn't open on my laptop.

I've downloaded the installer about a dozen times, both from Softnyx's download server and another one of the servers they listed on their page:
http://gunbound.softnyx.net/Material/Download_L.aspx
I've installed a couple dozen times, with each download, in various combinations of "as-is", "Run as administrator", and both XP and Vista compatibility modes. I've tried both "allowing" the launcher through Windows Firewall and turning off the firewall as a whole. I've heard of compatibility issues between GameGuard and Avast!, so I also tried turning off Avast!. I tried disabling UAC, too. No visible difference. I've searched online and heard it was probably a Windows 7 issue with GameGuard, and I've heard that people "fixed" their problem by downloading replacement GameGuard.des files. I've tried about a dozen different files with no improvement. I also heard that someone installed CrossFire and copied over the GameGuard.des file to Gunbound to... Read more

A:yahoo games not opening

[tsg=welcome][/tsg]
make sure you do not have the yahoo games site listed in your hosts file

do a search for hosts in your local drive, and when you find them (should be about 3 of them) you want to open the one without an extension. Not the .bak or .sam ones.
In there, see if rd.yahoo.com is listed, and if so, then remove it from the listing

Also check to see if games.yahoo is listed.

If neither, and nothing in the hosts file, then please let us know what is happening when you try to connect to it. any error messages, etc!!

A:Games need opening twice to start, please help

It turns out that this isn't a 'problem', Oh no, it's a 'feature'...

Apparently it's down to Game Explorer, a 'feature' of Windows Vista onwards that, when you click on a recognised game, then Game Explorer loads in the background, counts how often you've loaded the game, and does other things, including going online to check with some database if there's a patch for the game. Oh, and if the PC is offline (which this laptop is) then the process just, er, hangs. Apparently this problem has been known about for years, Microsoft has been bombarded with requests to fix it, and have done nothing.
To quote from the first thread I list below:

As we all know, Vista introduced the Game Explorer (GameUX.dll) which incorporates update checking and game information.

What most on't know, is that the instant a game is launched, Rundll.exe is spawned with the GameUX.dll, gameshim parametre and constantly polls the dns, network and domain functions in the OS.

The problem here, lies in the fact that if this process does not receive a response, the Game's process will sit frozen until a response is recieved.

Now the Rundll process actually acts as a mask for the games executable until the response from the servers is received, that said closing the rundll.exe prior to the handover being made will also close the Games executable.

You can work around this in a way by killing the actual game executable, which will keep the... Read more

The memory dumps all seem to point to your video drivers. Please:
- download a fresh set of the latest, Win8 compatible video drivers
- un-install the current video drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

Please be sure that the system is not overheating, that the system is being used on a hard, flat surface (preferably with a cooling pad), and that the system has been cleaned/blown out with canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum or air compressor - as they can cause damage to the system).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi all.

In order to play a multiplayer game I need to open ports on both my firewall and router, and hey presto, it works and I can even create servers.

However, is this a security risk? I read on this forum that all ports should be "stealthed", but when I open them on the router+firewall a few ports come up on the GRC port scan as "closed" as expected instead of stealthed.

Can I just leave these settings in place or do I just have to change the settings everytime before and after I play, which would just be plain annoying.

Thanks in advance.

Just in case James
If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

A:BSOD when opening certain games (DMP Included).

It is much easier to find patterns, etc, when there are more than one crash.

We prefer you wait until you have at least two so that if one is corrupt the other probably wont be.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (probably a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Hello Andrew.

Are these high performance games or smaller ones? You don't have a ton of RAM, and your CPU is not extremely powerful. Does this happen with movies? Anything else?

You could also try a defrag and registry defrag.

First of all I have to say sorry for my bad english. If there's something you don't understand, please, tell me and I'll try to explain better.

Hello, I come here because "Dr. Web" wasn't able to solve my huge problem.
Let me explain: just over a week ago, while I was playing with AION, my default browser opened windows at random, without me to do anything different from playing.
So I said to myself "all right", because just closing both was enough to continue playing normally.
After that, I played another game ( TERA ), and since then the situation has worsened.
While playing the browser keeps opening, causing lag, blocking my vision and sometimes causing a crash.
I thought it was a situation caused by TERA, but my brother said he had the same problem with other games.

I tried to install any type of game, thinking it was a problem only for those of Gameforge, but nothing, the default browser ( in this case Chrome ) continues to open windows.
I also tought "maybe it's Chrome my problem", but nothing, any other browser give me the same problem.

I was wondering if the issue of my mad-browser was something dedicated only to online games, so I installed a local game and set off my connection, but the problem persists and the windows still opens.

I did all kinds of possible scans with my antivirus ( AGV ) but did not find anything, I tried with CCleaner but nothing.
I do not know what to do, and I sincerly hope you can he... Read more

Hey all,

I've re-loaded some games after changing alot of the settings on my computer to optimize it for gaming, and they all run much smoother now. However, on some games (EA Games in particular) the opening movies (like the EA Games logo, or the THX logo) run at almost half speed and have really choppy sound. Same thing with some cutscenes. I am not sure what the problem is, because the in-game play is way better than it used to be, and I can run at much higher graphic quality. Anyone else had this problem?

I don't have much time to actually work on this computer, as it's my sister's and I'm only visiting her until tomorrow evening. I may have her keep in touch on this post if it is not resolved by the time I leave.
In any case, the problems she has been having are really baffling me. I have not personally updated to Windows 10, so I'm not familiar with a lot here, but what I do know is that her laptop which should be plenty able to run some particular games, is crashing every time one is opened. Sometimes they just crash with a "stopped working" message, while other times I am getting different BSODs.

I have made absolute certain that her computer has been updated and that her Nvidia drivers are up to date (372.90 as of 10/3/16 1:22AM). I had actually completely uninstalled and reinstalled these drivers.
Her specs are as follows:

When I try and play Batman Arkham Origins or Bioshock Infinite, it gives me an application error 0x000007b. I've reinstalled both, reinstalled the visual c++ components. I've done a sfc /scannow and I have the sfcdetails.txt here.
I really wish to play these games, as I was able to play them both for a bit then they stopped working. The problem could be with more than just those two things, I just haven't played everything since it's started.

A:0x7b application opening error with certain games

Hi, Welcome to 8 forums.

I will suggest to run SFC /SCANNOW atleast 3 more times. So that it can find the exact issue. Once it finds the issues (mostly it will give you an error that it was not able to fix some .dll file). Once you run that you can simply copy that file from your Win 8 disc to system folder. problem solved.

How do you load a game that normally goes full screen into just a window? Thanks.

A:Opening Games in Windows, not Full Screen

Hitting alt + enter will generally switch most games from full screen to windowed mode and vice versa.
Some games have it in the options to run full screen or not.

I previously posted a problem about the webcam working intermittently on my HP Mini 110 1020LA PC with Windows XP. I did all the things that were suggested to me, ie, download the HP 1000 webcam driver, re-installed the bios for the latest version and re-installed the Windows SP3 (all from the HP website). The problem is that the camera will work fine when I initially turn on the computer, but if I go into the internet to any page, or open a game on the computer, the camera will once again stop working and I need to re-boot the system again for it to work correctly. Can anyone advise me why this is happening?

I appreciate greatly the help the Tech Support Forum provides and Thank You!

Sincerely,
Gary

I'll begin by saying how it happened:

My PC used to be filled with junk files and had some viruses that got through my anti-virus and couldn't be cleaned. One of my co-workers suggested I do a factory reset, and while I am an avid gamer, I don't really understand much when it comes to hardware, so I let the IT company I usually go to do the reset.

Prior to the factory reset, I had many games on my PC - Two of them were League of Legends, and the non-steam version of an MMORPG called Wakfu.

After the reset, I redownloaded these games, and once I opened the launchers for either of these two games, my PC screen froze.

hi. i have been having a serious problem with my PC the last couple of days. simply, when i try to open any game, the computer crashes and automatically restarts.
about 2 months ago, i downloaded a free online game called Flyff. it worked fine for sumtime, but then it started making problems, and the most serious of them was that after it logs into the game, it crashes, freezes for like 3 minutes, then the computer resarts. didnt happen all of the time, but most of it. worthy to mention thati used to run the media player in the background, and it still ran while the game froze. when i posted this on the game forum, i found out that it's a very common problem in Flyff, which made me feel better (coz i know it's not affiliated with sumthing wrong in my pC alone), and i stopped playing the game...
just 3 days ago, the problem happened again, but with ALL other games!! warcraft III, civilization IV, and battle realms; all freeze when the game is about to start--by that i mean going into the game screen (for example after selecting single player, a certain mission, set the game settings, and now i will start to take control of the game). i ran many anti-spyware and anti-virus tests, all using guidance from tech guy forums. i removed many spyware and viruses, including a trojan i discovered in flyff, called ****_flyff (sorry, i didnt choose its name!), a trojan called intell32, many others as well. i imagined that the trojan of flyff was the cause of all this, as its the ... Hello guys!

I'm having some major problems with my computer. I was playing a game (stronghold kingdoms), opened a battle report to see the battle, and my computer froze.Mouse wouldn't move, ctrl+alt+delete wouldn't work.
Only solution was the reset button. When i reset the computer same thing happened when i tried opening the game. I tried it many times, always the same thing. Computer froze. First thing i thought that it had overheated (was running for about 14 hours straight, and it is an old pc) , so i left it for a few hours to cool down. After i came back, i opened a movie, and the computer froze. Not right away, after a few seconds. I tried again, the computer would always freeze, some times not at the same point, but it would freeze at some point. (most of the times when a scene changed or i forwarded the movie.)
At some point, computer would freeze most of the times at the windows loading screen.
Tried restroring the computer a few days back, nothing changed.
Installed an anti-crash program, still nothing, scanned disk for errors, nothing.
Opened the computer in safe mode, still froze at some point.
I tried restoring the computer 2 months back, but the computer froze when 1/5 of the process was left. When i rebooted the computer, it would not go past the Ai Series screen where it froze (the screen before the windows loading screen).

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Sorry for the long post

Greetings BleepingComputer,

I am having issue with my machine playing games. Here are the circumstances of the crashes:

Whenever I open up any game (it didnt used to be this way) once I get to the main menu and/or the exact moment I reach 100% of loading a level, the machine crashes and instantly reboots (no BSOD just a brief shut down into a restart). You should also know that this is a fresh HDD, right off the shelf with a fresh install of EVERYTHING.

Some of the procedures I have done: I have uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics drivers. Installed older versions of graphics drivers. Uninstalled and reinstalled games. Reseated my video card and RAM. Run any and all programs as administrator. Run any and all programs in compatibility mode for windows 7.

Some procedures I have failed to accomplish: I have tried using the program "WhoCrashed" to get the dump files of crashes but I/it is unable to obtain them. I am unsure what I am doing wrong and hopfully you can point me in the right direction, should you need those files... which I imagine you will.

Hopfully what I have described to you is an adequate starting point, although I am certain I am missing details. Below you will find reports from the various programs that this site has recommended I provide to help diagnose the problem. You will also find attached reports that come from the BSOD Pinned Thread. Which may or may not be relevant in this endeavour but, the way I see it the infor... Read more

Hello. Over the last 6 months I get an unreal amount of BDOD'S. I used to get one once a week, but it has gotten to the point where I am getting around 3-4 daily. A Sure way to produce one would be to open a game I play (Guild Wars 2) and open a youtube video as well.

Sometimes I will be playing a game (League of Legends) and I will get another one if I am clicking too rapidly.

I also have skype open all the time if that helps with anything. Thank you for the help in advance, I really need help solving this!

Hello, I bought a new pc yesterday, and it was running smoothly until an hour or so ago, I installed the drivers and everything was working fine until I tried to open a game (CoD WaW) and I could not play because of the spots ( they are all over the monitor), I tried to open an image with the windows's image viewer same problem, but images work fine in firefox, about an hour I started seeing the spots everywhere in windows after starting it ( the welcome screen does not have them) I fixed it by going to 16bit colors and a 800x600 screen resolution, I'm sure it's not the monitor because I tried on another monitor and same thing, I uninstalled the driver and re installed a new one from nvidia and nothing changed, but when I uninstall it it the spots disappear from windows until windows detects the graphic card and auto install it

Hi

I've been trying to fix my laptop for a few hours now.

At first it was Microsoft Security Essentials not working due to urlmon.dll missing, so I had to download it and put it in System32. Now the error is (0x000007b). So I uninstalled MSE, did Windows Updates (which won't finish, it's been stuck for a few hours) downloaded MSE again and the error is the same. I've also restarted it a few times as well in the process.

Then I tried opening Internet Options and it wouldn't display, so then I tried looking that up and in another forum there was a brief mention of opening Spider Solitaire to see if a video card is acting up. That's when I tried opening Spider Solitaire and again nothing is opening...

I have no idea what I'm doing, please help.

Hello everyone.

I just had my new PC built for me this past week, everything has been working great until I downloaded digital copies of Starcraft 2 and Dead Space. Where things start getting weird is when I go to install them, I'll make it through about 40% of the install and then windows will crash, it flashes me a blue screen with text, and reboots all within seconds. this has happened to me numerous times now, although with determination I have managed to finally get both games installed, but occassionaly when I open Starcraft 2 I get the same blue screen. I'm starting to wonder if I need to reinstall windows or something, any ideas? I've attached the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 file for review.

This problem has occurred "somewhat"(I don't know when exactly) recently. I used to be able to play full screen games just fine but now (for some reason), everytime I launch a full screen game, it auto minimizes.

When I alt+tab back(or click the game icon on the task bar), it remaximizes the game but quickly gets minimized after a second.

Games play fine while in "windowed" mode(Warcraft 3, etc).. Full screen keeps minimizing.

I use Windows Vista Ultimate (64 bit):

Nvidia GeForce 8300(onboard video card).
I've done scans with Avast, Malware Bytes, and Super Antispyware and they all found nothing.

Three months ago(same system), full screen games played fine however I was on sort of a "full screen" gaming break, so I only recently tried playing full screen games like Warcraft 3 and this is when I encountered the "auto minimizes" problem.

The only major difference(between the time full screen games worked and now) is Avast 5. I upgraded from Avast 4.8 to Avast 5, other than that, there were no other major changes with the computer I am on.

Avast 5 is on Silent/Gaming mode, and I tried disabling all the shields temporarily to see if it would fix the issue but it didn't.

Does anyone have any ideas(or need anymore info that may help)? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
Edit: I found a solution(though still looking if there is another way to "fix" this issue) - Right click on a program shortcut(or progr... Read more

Hello, I try to play old and new Games on the HP ZBook 15 G2 but each time between 2 - 15 minutes the Game freezes while the sound is still playing for at least 5 minutes until I can play further. It seems like the graphics card is buffering something like on a Video stream until I can continue playing. The Games work perfectly before and after this kind of game freeze. Is this a known issue? What could be the issue? Usually Games should either lag, being slower with less fps, have screen tearing, etc. but somehow buffer a Game for minutes until it works completely fine again is new to me. The same Games work on a much less performant HP 840 G1 Notebook but of course I need to turn down the graphics options depending on the Game. What is also odd it seems in general there are issues with using ALT+TAB to get to Windows while in a Game which works fine on my other PC. Hardware: Intel Core i7-4810MQ CPU, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and NVIDIA Quadro K2100M What I tried:I installed the latest Windows 10 64-Bit Version with all updates, used the HP Support Assistant Tool to install every Update it found. After the issue still there I later tried to install the latest Intel Graphics Driver from the Intel website (20.19.15.4483 from July 2016), the latest Nvidia Driver from the Nvidia website from the stable branch 21.21.13.7563 from October 21st 2016. Tried to disable the internal Intel Graphics Card but e.g. Battlefield 1 is then compla... Could anyone help me with this? I'll experience random, what seems to feel like, lag spikes, which aren't actually lag spikes while playing games. I'd be playing in offline mode against the computer and I'd have smooth gameplay for minutes before hitting this "lag spike" which would last minutes before it goes back to normal gameplay for a few minutes and then back to a lag spike, and this cycle would continue. This is for games that are extremely below my computer specs as well, so far, this has occurred with TF2 and alien swarm. my drivers are all updated, is this perhaps a software problem since problems with playing games only occurred once i went from windows XP to windows Vista months ago.

I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Does anyone know how to keep the Vista Games Explorer from automatically adding entries for games? I currently have a completely empty VGE and upon launching any of my games via double-clicking their exe, VGE creates a new entry once the game is closed. I already unchecked both "Download information about installed games" and "List most recently played games" in the VGE options window but that didn't help. I have a third party program that lets me add my own custom entries so obviously I'd like to add them manually so I have more control over fine details. I know that the automatically-created entries can be hidden after the fact, but that really clutters up the third party editor since it displays all games in its list, hidden or otherwise. Any thoughts?

My HDD died, so I opted for a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional on the new HDD. I reinstalled all my programs and drivers and such. But I've had the same problem ever since:

Sometimes, randomly, when I start my computer, these things happen all at once:Microsoft Games (solitaire, minesweeper, majong, etc.) will not open. I double-click on them, and then nothing. No error, nothing to indicate the computer is trying to open them. If I go directly to the application and try to open them there, same thing.
Video does not play correctly. In WMP, it just plays the audio and displays a small screenshot of the video (as if it were album art).

In Radeon Catalyst Control Center, when I'm adjusting the video settings, I will get an error stating the sample video cannot load.

I would run the System File Checker 1st. You may have a corrupted install of windows, which will require a reinstall, or at least a repair install.

..but not windowed

So this has been happening for a couple of days now and i haven't been able to fix it.

A few things i've tried;

Reinstalled GPU drivers (Nvidia GeForce 332.21 Driver)
Restored windows to a previous point (about a month ago, which i'm sure was before this problem)
Run virus scan (online, and on my computer).

I have collected some things (and attached) the WER file from the crash which i found in the event viewer, and this, which was just text in the viewer which didn't seem to have a file.

Unfortunately I forgot to record the error, but next time the BSOD occurs (which is randomly), I'll update this post.

So whenever I open a steam game, or alt tab from a full screen game, I either get the errors: "PAGE IN NONFAULT AREA" or "SYSTEM SERVICE EXEMPTION"

I recently just bought this computer, but this occurred on my old one as well. Any help would be appreciated, and apologizes if I left anything else out.

When I play doom 3, Half-life 2, F.E.A.R. or any other game utilising directx 9.0b and higher, the game crashes when I put all the settings to high. The weird thing is that it used to work just fine. Now, when games crash, it usually shows the whole entire screen, filling up with flickering blue squares. The sound keeps going on for about 10 more seconds, and then the sound freezes up too. When I press any button after this happens, The monitor flickers and then shows a screen that is bizarrely coloured. I am using Windows XP Professional 64 bit-edition

I have looked online extensively but haven't found anything related to this issue. Whenever I play games (any game), five minutes into play the game will freeze for about a minute. Another five minutes later it will repeat the process. Does not matter which game or which settings I am using. My CPU usage goes up to 100% which I haven't noticed happening before, temps have not increased. Memory is at 30-40% usage.-Checked drivers and updated-Ran memory tests and checked for memory leaks, returns nothing-Ran tests on hard drives, no issues-Checked temps, all normal-Ran torture tests on CPU, no problems-Formatted hard drives and reinstalled OS and games to test, problem persisted-Checked all connections-Cleaned inside and out thoroughlyCPU, Motherboard, HDD, and RAM are all about 5 years old. A:X-Box Games app and Games for Windows Live account merge?

Well, yeah I was hoping that would happen but at this time there is no merging yet but maybe in the future.
The Xbox games app shows your profile and scores and that is about it. I figure the reason is the games you bought are not Metro Apps which still uses a Client. Maybe the Client would be updated to Xbox Games instead since the client is not in the metro app thing.

I can say the Client works:

Hello all,

I recently made a new PC build, everything went fine and all drivers are up to date and the latest. However when playing ANY game in fullscreen i sometimes get a BSOD and if i Alt+Tab our of one it will 90% of the time BSOD. Latest 3b is the BCCode that i get, i have tried sweeping and reinstalling graphics drivers however this did not work. This problem doesn't happen with anything else and does not crash if i play in windowed or border-less, however i use a crossfire setup so i need to use fullscreen to use both GPUs.

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770

Mem: 4 Gigs of Memory

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Since i bought this rig a year ago i haven't been able to play any games that runs on the valve engine(half life 2, css, portal etc) more than a few seconds and then the comp reboots.
With Bf2 i can play max 30 minutes and Bf2142 maybe one hour then they crash exactly the same way as Valve games..
All other games i have tried runs without any problem, even the more demanding such as Crysis, Far Cry 2 and Dark Athena.
This is really anoying since the only game i bother about is BF and CSS.

My comp consist of:

cpu: q6600
gfx: 8800 gt 512mb Point of View
mobo: gigabyte ga-n650sli-ds4
ram: 4gb(2x1gb supertalent02 ddr2 pc2-8900u & 2x1gb dimm ddr2 pc26400u)
psu: 570 watt

Cpu temp is at full load 60c and gpu is at full load 70c, i added an extra fan to the gfx and set the fan to 80%. nothing is overclocked.
I tried with diffrent memorys, changed hdds, reinstalled a bunch of times, reinstalled windows xp 32bit, maybe 10 diffrent nvidia drives, also changed settings for the sound card but none of that made any diffrence.
Havent been able to test with other gfx.

Anyone else hade this issue and manage to solve it then please let me know, also greatful for all suggestions.

Sometimes i get bsod while running games. i don't know whats causing this, i pretty much don't know about bsods.
I just suspect the reason is there is secondary/primary graphic card on my computer, its called apu.
Device manager shows two display adapters, one of them "AMD HD 7660G" (my processor is AMD A-10 4600 APU with Radeon HD Graphics).
Other one "AMD Radeon HD 7700 series" says the device manager. (HD 7730M Chelsea Pro says the sticker on laptop)

I had this issue both before the format, and after the format. .dmp file is the first bsod after format.
I will try provide information if you ask anything else than posted.
I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks!
Note: User Account Control disabled on my computer. If this info helps anything.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Update your ATI/AMD display driver to the latest WHQL.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Let me explain i have some original games but i have one cracked that use games 4 windows, but i played it just offline so i don't have the need to go live with this one. The thing is that i uninstalled it long ago, but i want to play it again, so....if i install it again to play offline, would be a problem, conflict or penalty (like permanent ban or something) with my original games that i play online?
Need some answers please.

This problem just started today. The games explorer will not start a new game; it will only try to start saved games (even when there are no saved games). I checked all of the settings and could find nothing that should cause this behavior. The only way I can start a new game is to go the the exe file and start from there. I suppose I could start a saved game, if any, and then go to the menu and start a new game from there. However, I would like to fix this problem. I have a Dell furnished CD for Windows Vista, but I don't know if one can reinstall only the games. I surely do not want to reinstall the OS.

A:Opening .ppt Files Directly In Ie7

Easy fix, you need to set the program to open this file.

Click on MY COMPUTER from your desktop OR go to Control Panel/Folder Options.

My Computer, at the top of the page TOOLS/Folder Options.

Either way will open the same dialog box.

Click on File Types tab, let registered file types load.

Scroll down to PPT, click on it to highlight it. It will show below in Details the application
that is set to open the files. If it DOES NOT say Power Point, click on
CHANGE, and under recommended programs change it to Power Point.
Click OK to save the change.

This should solve the issue for you, post back with the results.

Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. This all started when I got defraggler. I defraggled everything I could find manually, analyzing then slowly started degraggling chunks at a time because I didn't want to wait the day it said it would take to do a full defrag. For some reason, that seemed faster. Before Defraggler, I had to use low graphics in games, and my computer ran fast. Afterwards, they switched. Any help?

I don't have antivirus because I am very careful and don't go on suspicious websites. I've come to realize what "suspicious" websites look like.

OS: Vista is infamous for its constant annoyance to the user. This is somewhat unlikely, but it could be Vista slowing you down. I recommend upgrading to Win7 regardless.

Processor: The processor seems alright, so you're not having troubles there.

RAM: You may want to consider a RAM upgrade, as many applications (including games) do tend to stick around in memory until a restart. I'd have to say the lack of RAM is your issue. It shouldn't take much more, maybe another 1GB-2GB should fix it up.

Graphics: Nice graphics card, by the way. Beats mine ._.
AntiVirus: Well, the fact that you're careful on the Internet does NOT protect you from viruses. Not at all. I strongly recommend installing Avast! Also, I recommend installing MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and give your computer a nice scan with both of them.

I Deputy zip with SF_Diagnostic_Tool analysis.

Please help me and thank-you anyone that can!

A:BSOD opening unity or unity games, MULTPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS

Hi erwor.

Unfortunately the crash dumps are not very much informative.

What you should do is to update VMWare to the latest version and to install the VMWare tools again.

Let us know the result.

Hi,
Suddenly from few days, I m getting this error (plz look at the attachment) every time while trying to open the drives, double clicking the mouse!!!

So, I've to explore the drives (It'svery bothering for me) & accessing them, but no problems with files & folders to open directly inside the drives.

Is it any kind of VIRUS? or anything else?

A:win32 application - drives not opening directly

Hello All,
No reply!!! None of you have this solution??? Really frustrating...

But, problemed solved. It was a virus problem...perhaps "backdoor.tedserv!inf". I just install the last update file of McFee & it;s gone. Now all drives accessing easily.

But, Symantec End point is not working against this virus.
Thanks anyway...

A:Word 2007 Error opening .doc directly

Sounds like your association has been screwed. have you tried to repair the Word installation? How to install the individual 2007 Office features or to repair the installed 2007 Office programs

So when I navigate my hdd, and try to open program files (by double clicking it) I get the following message:

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel."

I went to the spoken area of the CP, but there's no option to tell a ****ing folder what to do.

I've never heard of something so ridiculously stupid.. a FOLDER needs "file associations" I can't want to reformat back to XP as soon as I get my floppy drive working again (so I can slipstream raid drivers)

A:Folders not opening directly. (Windows Vista Ultimate)

So you are saying you are clicking oa "folder" not a "file" right? I can see a file saying that but not a folder.

If this is true, try running a system restore to before the issue began.
start->tpye: system restore->click on it above in the list and read the instructions.
Goodluck.
