as described I use a Logitech G510 keyboard with multimedia keys and the posibility to insert a headset into it (the keyboard got its own soundcard). The keyboard also got a volume wheel which worked with Vista like it should: I could controle the speaker's volume by the keyboard.
Now with Win 7 I can't use the wheel anymore, even with the latest drivers. Does anyone know this problem?
OS Win 7 professional 32 bit
Intel core duo E4500 2,2 GHz; 2GB RAM
Sapphire HD5770 graphiccard
Best regards from Germany!
I found the answer in this thread! Sorry for opening this thread...
keyboard volume controls wont work
My brand new Logitech G510 keyboard won't wake my PC up from sleep mode. My mouse (Razor DeathAdder) will wake up PC from sleep mode. When it does wake from sleep mode I hear the beeps like new hardware has been found and then I can use my keyboard. I've checked for the latest firmware and software from Logitech's website, but it's a fiasco looking for updated drivers and firmware on their site.
Here is the link to the software downloads - Gaming Keyboard G510
Which version are you trying to use, the legacy (Version 3.06) or the gaming software (Version 7.0)?
If its connected, try using the legacy drivers/software as the gaming one has some things missing.
Thats if any of this is of any help.
I have a logitch G510 gaming keyboard, 18 G-Keys. I want to know where i can find a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and 3 profile for them to use them in the game. I have done a google search and turned up nothing. If you cant download them off the net can someone tell me how to make one, I went threw the profiles that are there based on the games on my system and neither of my Call of Duty Games showed up in the profile menu.
It should be on the menu. It should scan your computer and pick them up. If you are talking about MW3, I use a very basic one. I can do most everything else with my mouse. If this helps, it is basically the same for all FPS games, with a couple of tweeks, for me.4 more replies
Hi. On my home built system, when booting up, if I don't have this generic Dell usb keyboard hooked up, I can not choose from multiple drives I have installed with the Logitech G510 keyboard( which I use to choose, I just have to have this other keyboard connected). Other than that, it behaves normally, fine. Is there something I can do in the way of getting a driver onto a usb thumb drive and then keep that thumb drive permanently attached (like inside the case)?
You guys were very helpful when I had problems with the MBR, and the UEFI of the 990 Asus Sabertooth Motherboard. Has worked fine since.
I just looked at that keyboard on Newegg and reading the reviews it seems to be a problematic product for many people. It might be as simple as that.
The first thing I would check in the manual for the keyboard is if there is a toggle that will shut off the advanced functions temporarily.
Modern UEFI BIOS are (will be) configurable and will allow users to load device drivers in the BIOS. I do not know about the BIOS on the 990 Sabertooth. Does that have the GUI? If so, look for any options for loading the keyboard driver.
Just made a fresh intall of Windows 7 (32 bit). This was done from scracth with Toshiba CD. The drivers I downloaded from Toshiba website. Everything is ok, except the volume wheel it doesn't control the sound.
Does anyone know wich driver I'm missing? Every other butons and functions are active except volume wheel.
Did you install the VAP (value added package) for Win 7?
On Toshiba EU driver page VAP v 1.2.40 can be found
Hi, i've been searching this issue on Google with literal no topic about it so i'll just make the first one here:
From a time i have an A4Tech V7 Gaming mouse that works perfect in Windows 7. Since a few weeks ago, after Microsoft deployed a patch on Windows 10, my scrolling wheel stopped working both on softwares and games. After 1-2 restarts it would go away and this kept on for about a week, and i guess after that, another patch was deployed that fixed it. Last night a new patch was deployed that returned the issue and this time, even after 3 restarts the scroll still doesn't work. Is there anything to be done so i don't have to wait anymore for those guys?
Clicking the scroll [Mouse3] works, scrolling up and down is what doesn't work.
Hi, can only suggest general things to do.
Have you tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating the mouse driver?
Please try following the pattern of actions here:
Yes, it's talking about a Microsoft mouse, but the principles apply- just adapt as appropriate to your mouse.
I've been given an old IBM running Windows NT 4.0. The mouse it came with is a MS Intellimouse 1.2A PS/2, and the scroll wheel is not working. I tried reinstalling the driver that was on the computer. I also downloaded a driver file called vmouse.vxd, after hunting around the web for a bit, but I don't know where to copy this file to.
Is there any hope of getting the scroll wheel to work on WinNT?
Thanks a lot,
You probably need to have all the Service Packs for NT installed, some mice have limited functionality otherwise. At least up to Service Pack 5.
why is this happening?
it looks like a mouse issue, try with another mouse to see if the problem persist!
I've searched this problem with no luck in finding a solution.
I just upgraded my computer to vista and went to install my logitech setpoint so I can have those awesome keyboard shortcuts for my MX3000, but when I open up my setpoint there is no tab for keyboard.
Only the "My Mouse" tab comes up. The funny thing is my keyboard is functional as I am using it right now to type this!
I tried drivers from both Logitech and two other websites with no change.
Anybody have a clue?
whats the model ID of the keyboard
I recently got this problem, that my volume hotkeys stopped working, (Acer Aspire 5560G) AMD High Definition Audio. I also tryed plug in other keyboard that have's volume hotkeys but still doesn't work.

I'm hoping to get some help with fixing a problem with my mouse. I have a logitech optical mouse USB. The mouse worked fine until about 4 weeks ago.
Now if I go and try to right click to get properties or what ever it doesn't work. I have tried to trouble shoot on the computer and I'm getting very mad at this thing. Can Anyone help??? I have windows xp home.
Hello and Welcome.
After installing this keypboard, I found that it not only lists the device in "devices and printers" area, now I have two keyboards listed and two mice. First is the keyboard itself as "G510 gaming keyboard" and then "HID keyboard device". The same thing for my mouse which is not from logitech but from Razor. My mouse is listed as "Razor DeathAdder" and then "HID-compliant mouse". These listings where not there before the install of this keyboard.
don't worry about it.2 more replies
Hey guys I've had my g510 for a while and all this time the folowing ssues have been occuring and I can find any solutions on the internet.
Ok problem one:I can't use the keyboard to get into the bios/edit things within the bios as it doesn't work untill the OS is booted
Problem 2: I have to keep a mic/microphone jack pluged into the keyboard at all times or it will not alow me to use any of the keys or the lcd display and this can only be resolved if I unplug and replug it in the usb port and put the mic/headphone jack in (this is an issue because I use an usb headset now)
Any help would be great -Silver
Some motherboard manufacturers have bios fules that don't recognize some ganing keyboards. I have a g510 and that happened to me with one motherboard I had. The next bios upgrade fixed it. The Logitech drivers don't loag until Windows loads, but the keyboard should function as a regular keyboard without them.
As for the second problem, I have no clue. I have never had that happen. I rarely use a headset. Have you called logitech support about it? They may be of more help. They were very good with me when I had issues with my G500 mouse.
i have a infered logitech cordless keyboard and mouse
my mouse is pluged into my usb and keyboard is pluged into ps/2
but everytime i reboot, my keyboard wont work and i have to
go and disable it,then enable it to get it to work,i have tryed uninstalling the drivers and re-installing
but no joy.my pc is running on windows xp pro .i have also just bought a p/s2 to USB adapter and that dont work.i have also put both leads into the p/s2 slot's and when i do that neither my mouse or keyboard work
when i go into device manager, the easy internet keyboard driver's has a yellow dot with a ! mark in it and not a ?

Yesterday I bought the above-named headset to use when playing Team Fortress 2. It connects to my mobo with two separate 1/8" plugs -- one for the headphones, and one for the mic. I'm positive I've got them in the right jacks.
Right off the bat I noticed that I had to turn the volume down substantially from where I had it with my regular Sony headphones -- I was getting tons of high-pitched interference that disappeared when I turned down the volume, even though playback still seems to be good and loud.
The mic, however, is crap at this point. When I went to test it in the audio section of the control panel, I found that it barely registers on the level meter, even when I'm speaking at louder than normal volume. In properties I brought the mic volume all the way up, and made sure that the mute box is not checked.
The headset comes with its own mic mute switch on the cord, and it's open.
When I went to the voice recorder and did a test, what I recorded was a faint high pitched mix of static and electronic squealing -- sort of like the sound a fax machine makes, and yes -- it's not unlike the initial interference I was getting on the headphones. There was nothing in there that sounded like my voice or words.
When I went to test my mic in-game (before actually playing), I found that speaking at the same louder-than-normal volume pushed the level up into the red, but I couldn't hear myself over the headphones -- not sure if I was suppo... Read more
I usually go through the windows live messenger audio setup to get a microphone working correctly. 9 times out of 10 that alone will sort it.
hey, so plain and simple. how and/or where can i find applets, namely the CoreTemp applet that will show temperatures or system usage or something to that effect on my lcd screen on my g510.
if i find an applet, how do i add it to the list so i can actually use it? (see the picture)
Have you looked in the Core Temp Window under tools?
I have a G15 and it shows the G15 applet there.
Ok here's the thing. I bought the wirless mouse sometime last year, and I've never had any problems with it. Untill recently, it just basically stopped working all together. At first I thought the batteries just needed changed so I did that and like the light wouldn't come on at all on the mouse and the curosr on the screen wouldn't move either . So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it...still nothing. Now I have to use a gay mouse and it's really annoying. What could be wrong with my mouse all of a sudden?Oh and I have Windows XP.

Ok can we get more information like do you get an error, or what happens? What driver (32 bit or 64) for what OS (vista, win 7, etc), etc.
I have been using my G510 gaming keyboard as a sound card for a while before this incident. Even though I had already bought a USB sound card before the keyboard, I like the handiness of the mute buttons and such on the keyboard. So, because my 3.5mm cables from my headset are plugged in the keyboard and the keyboard is plugged into my desktop via USB, it shows up as separate microphone and speaker devices when you right click on the audio icon in Windows 7 at the right of the taskbar. The names of these devices used to look like, using the microphone as an example: "Microphone," then in grey below it, "G510 Gaming Keyboard."
Recently, I brought my desktop out somewhere to use as a demo for some software and I brought a small wireless keyboard I used to use with it. All went well, and after setting up the computer again at home, I went to the audio devices to make sure the defaults were selected. Before this, I noticed the computer reinstalling all the drivers for my mouse and keyboard. I thought this was a little odd but nothing else. However, the name of the microphone was now:"Microphone," then in grey below it, "2- G510 Gaming Keyboard" I could tell the device had been created again and that Windows was not using the original device profile. This was annoying and I also noticed some other problems such as my custom LCD screen applets on the keyboard not showing up in the list unless I started them manually (ex: Fraps) a... Read more
I just found out that the problem came from plugging the keyboard into a different USB port. I put it back in the original port and the problem is fixed now and the name has no prefix. My Logitech G510 performance monitor applet as well as HWMonitor are showing around 25% CPU usage on idle, but the task manager and resource monitor are both showing about 3% usage. Even the CPU temps in HWMonitor reflect the low CPU usage. Is there a way to fix this? It's happening on a new Windows 10 install on my recently-built Micro ATX machine. This was not much of an issue on my bigger i7 build.More replies
For the last month or so, every time I log off my account, the keyboard does not register at the Windows Log In screen. This makes it so I have to restart the computer and then it works fine.
There are three accounts on the computer, the casing has been half removed for the last 3 months, a DVD burner and driver recently installed 3 months ago and I am using a wireless off brand USB keyboard and mouse.
OS: Windows Xp Home Edition 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
As for the second part, the computer requires several restarts to boot up, sometimes up to twenty minutes of turning on and off to boot up. Only started doing this a week ago.
It sounds like something is wrong with your Windows XP drivers. Something like that happened to me while building my computer, and when I boot up the keyboard did not work because my copy of windows XP was bad. You could try reinstalling windows XP, and It might work better, but I dont have a definite answer to your problem.3 more replies
I've had my Logitech FF for several years and it recently stopped working. I can now not even start windows (98) with the device in the usb port because I will get a message that all sorts of dll files faild and explore.exe have done an illegal operation and then my computer freezes. I've tried turning the steering wheele on while windows is running but I will then not be able to start any programs. Eventually an error like run32dll will crash or something and the computer will freeze again.
I've tried removing my drivers and updating them with the newest from the internet but it didn't work. I've tried reinstalling my old drives and it failed. I can also mension that I've done nothing to my system since the logitech worked. Windows just stopped working one day.
I have bought Inspiron I5558 signature edition 5 months back.My speakers are not working after it reaches 50 percent of volume till then they will work fine. I uninstalled and installed new audio drivers but problem is not solved. Please help....
I would suggest you to update BIOS and reinstall the audio driver on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the audio card.
In the search box, Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Sound, video and game controllers listed and expand it.
You should find Realtek High definition audio or audio controller please right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.
After uninstallation please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section and audio driver from audio section onto the system and install it.
Please let me know if this helps.

I'm running Windows XP SP2 and I have all my sound drivers installed (I can get sound just fine in every app), but I can't control the main volume in the Volume Control. I can adjust the volume with the Wave slider, but the main one doesn't do anything, including mute. Individual applications' volume controls work fine too, just not the main Windows one. It wouldn't be a problem, but it might be the reason why I'm not getting any volume on the Stereo Mix recording option. I just finished a clean install of XP (for a different reason) and it wasn't working before, either. Any ideas?
I installed windows 10 and i like it very much, except for one thing; i can't adjust my windows volume.

I tryd to disableing the other devices i tryd to update the drivers, i cant change any thing in the driver settings what can help me.

Hello, I have an X1 Yoga and just noticed that the volume rocker (the physical buttons on the right side of the computer) don't seem to work when my lid is closed. When the lid is open, the rocker works great. But not otherwise. I have tried playing music from both Spotify and Youtube. Both sources of audio don't work. (Not sure if that's relevant, but just thought I'd mention it.) If there are any other X1 Yoga owners out there, could you please test this out? I normally adjust volume with the Fn keys (with the lid open, obviously) so I didn't notice this issue until today. I was just trying to listen to music with the lid closed for the first time today when I noticed the problem. Thanks!More replies

Just got a Logitech Duel Optical MouseMan Wheel and I'm having some weird issues with it... I'm stumped.
Let me tell you what's going on, first, then I'll tell you what I've tried.
I put the mouse in, and I noticed the curser was just acting strange.. didn't feel right. I talked to some people, and was told to download the newest drivers off of Logitech's website. I did that. I noticed was that the X and Y axis of the mouse don't seem to be running at the same speed. I turned acceleration off. I do a lot of gaming and I need my mouse to work so I can pull it back down while recoiling, but it almost feels like a ball mouse that's gotten dirty and won't bull down fast enough... very weird.
So I got the new drivers, looked for some sort of calibration settings, but I haven't been able to find any.
Any help would be greaty appreciated.

I'm having a major issue with the Logitech MOMO racing wheel that I just bought. Basically, it just doesn't work, and my PC just isn't accepting it. It appears to be a problem with the USB ports. When I plug it in, it always gives me the error in a little balloon at the bottom right of the screen, “USB Device Not Recognized”. My USB ports work perfectly with any other USB device.
Things I tried that didn't work:
Following the installation instructions precisely, several times
Installing older versions of the driver
Deleting any Logitech-related registry entries
Plugging the wheel into different USB ports, including those on the back of the PC
Plugging the wheel into a different wall socket, and the surge protector
I tried the wheel on two other PCs and it worked flawlessly.
Later, I tried calling Logitech support and they told me that it's a problem with my registry entries and I should call Microsoft. So then, I did the whole thing that lets a Microsoft guy control my PC, and he didn't do anything that I hadn't tried. He just tried reinstalling the driver, installing an older driver, etc. So that didn't help.
Basically, the wheel simply turns off after a couple seconds of being plugged in. It starts turning around, trying to calibrate or something, then shuts off and gives me the “USB Device Not Recognized” error.
Honestly, I've tried everything I can think of, but the damn thing just doesn't work.... Read more

I've got a a Dell Lattitude D820 with Windows XP home.
One day, out of the blue, I started getting an error message when Windows tries to boot.
with some unhelpful directions, and then at the bottom,
Stop: 0X000000ED (0x864FB590, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I checked out some different places and the general advice was to try and boot windows from the Windows CD. After setting the BIOS and cleaning the disk, this is what happens
Blue screen with ?Windows Setup? appears and at the bottom it tells me all the little steps it's taking to get windows going. It all goes well and I get ?Setup is starting Windows?
but then I get another blue screen of doom, this one says:
Stop: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xF76130BF, 0xF7A5F208, 0xF7A5EF08)
pci.sys- Address F76130BF base at F760C000, DateStamp 3b7d855c
I'm not even sure I can reformat if the CD won't work. Ugh.
Are you using IDE or SATA. Did you check to be sure you are using the proper cable if you are using IDE? That could cause the first error and the second error. The second error is a driver based error. Hopefully you have a backup because there is a possibility your hard drive is dying. My suggestion...check the cabling...remove any unneeded hardware from the computer...check to make sure everything else is seated properly and try to start up. How old is the computer?6 more replies
Since upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit I can't turn the volume all the way down by using the volume control at the front of the notebook. Worked fine under Vista 32 bit.
The volume control still works but no matter how far I wind it to the left there is still sound coming from the speakers.
Any help appreciated.
As far as I know volume control in the past was mechanical but now it works on different way and it is controlled by specific tool/utility.
To be honest Tecra P5 is not known to me but obviously it is Australian notebook model and according to Australian support page this notebook model is not supported for Windows 7.
That doesn?t mean you cannot use it but this means there is not software package designed for Windows 7 that can be installed so I think there is no much you can do about it.
I know it is annoying but for volume control you can use Windows option placed in task bar.

Yesterday I reinstalled Windows 7 on my notebook PC. I had to use a Microsoft installation disk because unfortunately, serious errors resulted after I installed from the HP recovery program. Consequently the HP drivers that were installed automatically with the recovery program weren't installed on my system. I had to install several of them from the HP support site. I got everything to work except for the Touch volume control, or the Volume Scroll Zone as referred to by HP in the service guide. This is the device located just above the keyboard that increases or decreases speaker volume when you drag you finger on it. I installed the Quick Launch button driver but that only applied to the mouse and pointer touchpad. I looked at the devices listed in my startup configuration. I saw the synaptics pointing device and the HP quick launch buttons listed. So is the IDT PC audio driver. What am I missing? Where I can I find it to activate the touch volume control?

Hello, I have a Logitech Trackball Mouse about 6-months old. The ball works fine with my cursor and tracks well. Both the left and right mouse buttons work fine too. However, I have no reception with the wheel on my mouse. The wheel will not make the page scoll up and down. This is odd. It might be a setting in the Logitech software to make the wheel scroll windows when you turn it (scrolling is what you're doing when you're making things go up and down). So I mean, for some reason maybe you still have to set the scroll wheel to scroll.7 more replies

Bit of a weird one here...within the last week - I installed a fresh copy of Win 7 x64 SP1 on a new office workstation. I am using the Logitech K800 keyboard and J.River Media Center for media playback.
NOTE: I am using the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R motherboard and it's onboard Realtek Azalia HD audio chip. I am NOT using the Realtek drivers (more on that in a moment) - I am using the built in Windows 7 HD Audio drivers.
Long story short - I discovered some conflicts with the internals of the motherboard where the front panel headphone jack of my case (Antec P182) would exhibit static in the phones if moving the mouse on screen. Traced that to some weird issue with the USB ports so I had to install a separate front panel insert into the case and attached JUST the audio cable so I could get static free headphone listening.
Now the issue. When using J.River Media Center (and WASAPI Event Style from within Media Center) and I select "speakers" under it's Device Output area - I am able to use the Mute, Volume Up and Volume Down hot keys on the K800 to control the audio level that comes from the speakers.
But - if I change the Device Output to Headphones - using the exact same audio device - suddenly the three audio buttons (upper right of the keyboard by the Calculator button) suddenly do not work.
Couple things - I cannot recall in any previous build whether or not these button were working or not OR if I just decided to try them for the first time with headp... Read more
In most cases the vendor's (Gigabyte ) sound driver should be used. The Windows installed HD Audio Codec are a "basic function" sound driver.
I would start with the proper sound driver and work from that. If the Antec front panel headphone/mic connection has an HD Audio connector use that, otherwise use the AC97 however that may be some auto detect functions that won't work.

I downloaded and installed the latest Logitech SetPoint Software and configured the wheel button but Windows 10 still does not recognize it.
Any idea what I need to do to fix this?
Every time I unplug this Wheel from the USB port I get a BSOD. I do not have the error codes but i have downloaded and ran the SF Diagnostic tool. I am using windows Ultimate x64 SP1 on a custom built system that is several yrs old now. I've never noticed this problem before this week.

Just got a new super duper Logitech LX7 tilt wheel scroll mouse. Everything working except horizontal scrolling in Excel 2007. The horizontal scrolling works ok in other apps and Excel 2003, just not 2007.
Anyone with a similar problem ... or any ideas?

Using Windows 8, I have discovered that the shift key doesn't work. I have to use cap's lock. Every time I click the cap's lock, an ' appears. I have to delete that before typing my capital word. Without shift, I can't make many important punctuation marks like the exclamation point and the
question mark. Using an on screen keyboard works, but it's so hard to move your mouse to click each letter. Also, the control key doesn't work. Earlier, whenever I typed the space, a space and a zero appeared. And now space works, but zero doesn't. Whenever I type zero, it become an 0. Not to mention that when I type one, 31 comes up, and when I type three, 31 comes up, too. Also, when I search something online, or save a PowerPoint, or anything else, it will bring something else up. For example, I want to search Mario online, before I can type ma, https://mail.go... comes up and I have to delete everything but the m and the a and start typing again. This started today, though I didn't download anything in the past week besides using http://www.youtube..., which is used by many others. I tried describing every problem to the best I could, and painfully typed with all the problems, so I hope someone answers. Please feel free to ask me
questions. Please elaborate with both
questions and answers. I will re-post this tomorrow if nobody answers or solves the problem. And then continue posting this every hour.

HP Pavilion dv4-2160us is the model of my laptop. The keyboard of my laptop doesn't work i can't even type the password of my laptop because of that. I already tried things like removing the battery for 5 minutes and when i always try to click the 'ease of access' at the below left of the screen. Your suggestions will be a big help. The n key had been not working properly and now it stopped all together. I took the key off and tried pressing the white piece of soft plastic but nothing shows up. Is it time to get a new keyboard or is there something else to try? It seems like such a waist to throw out a keyboard when 1/100+ keys stopped working.
Try it on another PC and see.
Hi! I have a laptop Acer ES1-P9QU and all of a sudden, the keyboard doesn't work anymore! It was all ok yesterday and not today! So I'm not sure when this started happening but sometimes when I leave my computer unattended for a few hours and it goes to the login screen or when it goes to sleep/hibernate and reawakes on the login screen my keyboard won't work so I have to pop open my onscreen keyboard to type my password in then reboot my computer so that my computer will work
What sort of keyboard?? PS2, USB, Wireless ??
My keyboard doesn't work after upgrading to Windows 10 . I have to press down the key for 3-5 seconds to get it working. Looking for solution. Thanks.
Hi, Check the following. Open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'. From the new layout, select the 'Ease of Access Centre'. Select the option 'Make the keyboard easier to use'. If there is a tick next to 'Turn on Filter Keys' or 'Turn on Sticky Keys', click the box to remove it, then click Apply and Ok to save this change. Regards, DP-K1 more replies
As the description states, I think that the keyboard driver was corrupted by one or more viruses back when I got infected with AV Security 2012 and ZeroAccess, among others.
However, my computer has since been declared clean after a great save by SweetTech.
I may be wrong about the virus being the cause of the problem, but I do know it's a software problem, as the keyboard will work while the computer is booting up, (long enough that I can still put it in safe mode) but as soon as Windows boots the physical keyboard becomes totally unresponsive, even in safe mode.
The On-screen keyboard still works.
I don't know whether a USB keyboard would work or not, as I don't have one.
I hve already tried different keyboards, uninstalling and reinstallng the keyboard driver normally, in safemode, and also reinstalling after rebooting the computer, but it didn't work.

The keyboard doesn't work. I have two keyboards (ps/2 and usb) and after uninstalling my antivirus (avast), none of them work in windows (they work in bios section). All other usb devices like mouse and gamepad work.
Here is the screenahot of device manager:
Try one at a time- right click each keyboard device listed. Then in new small window that appears left click update driver.
Let us know if this works.
Hey Guys!! This is my first post, so we'll see how it goes.
So, here's the problem: I used the registry backup program on my computer to reverse some changes I had made to my system. Now, the keyboard doesn't work. It works when Windows boots (when Windows says "Press F8 for advanced startup options) but it doesn't work after that. Because of this, I can't login to Windows. Does anybody know what the problem is? By the way, my computer is a Compaq Armada E500 running Windows 2000 Professional.

Still didn't work. WinXPpro environment (upgraded from ME around Christmas time). Not one button on the keyboard works. Is there a solution?
Try right clicking on the keyboard and clicking Uninstall

After a power outage my brothers keyboard quit working. He has a desk top computer only one year old. He uses XP. We have rebooted several times. When booting up before Windows opens DOS says it can not find the keyboard.
We made sure the keyboard is plugged in properly (It is not USB connected). We tried another working keyboard, which also didn't work. In Windows we tried adding new hardware. The keyboard is not showing up in the hardware list.
Everything worked fine until the power outage. The computer was in the sleep mode at the time. The mouse continues to work fine and everything else works like it should.

I have an acer aspire V11 touch laptop and about 2 weeks ago the keyboard stopped working properly. Whenever I try typing anything there is no output apart from when I try stroking multiple keys really quickly. However this results in a keyboard spasm and will continuously type out the same letter over and over again. The only way I can stop that is by holding down the esc key or the spacebar, and as soon as I let that go it continues!
I have tried pretty much everything in the control panel and settings, including trying to uninstall and reinstall it, as well as checking it wasn't anything to do with filter or sticky keys
Any help would be much appreciated, as using the touch screen keyboard takes so long to type everything!
I don't think this is a Windows 10 problem; sound like hardware.1 more replies
I just bought a Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard today. I plugged it into a USB port and installed the drivers, and the keyboard doesn't work. The LED lights don't light up, nor do any of the keys work. I tried plugging it into a different USB port and reinstalling the drivers, and it still doesn't work. I've also tried connecting the keyboard to another computer and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Have you previously had a USB (as opposed to PS2) keyboard connected to the system ?
If not, then you may have to enable the function in the motherboards BIOS.
If you have then it sounds like a fault with the keyboard. The G15 does not require the drivers and utilities (Key profiler and LCD manager) for basic functionality. If you have USB keyboard support enabled then the keyboard backlighting and LCD screen ( "Logitech" for rev.1 blue backlit, "G15" for rev.2 orange backlit) will initialize as soon as the OS loads.
About 2 months ago, my keyboard quit working in WORD. I have no problems typing this post, for example, or cutting and pasting text I am forced to enter into WordPad in order to get it into WORD. I deleted the keyboard file in settings/system/hardware/device manager/keyboards and rebooted. No help at all. My wife's friend installed a Chinese character set that is always there, but I used tb be able to just change to a western font and work on. That doen't even work anymore. In WORD, nothing goes onto the screen when I type. Do I need to run combofix to get rid of a virus? Pleae help.
Do I need to run combofix to get rid of a virus?Absolutely not. There is no indication of an infection at this point, and even if there were one doesn't perform major surgery and chemo if something much less drastic will work.Have you tried repairing the Word installation? Sometimes when I start up my computer nothing happens when I try to type. Then when I reboot it works. It seems to happen if I move the mouse during startup. If I don't move the mouse it starts up normally.
It also seems to have started doing this when I made some changes in my Kaspersky Anti Virus. I updated to version 5.0.227 from 5.0.142 and also I changed the automatic update schedule from once a day to every 3 hours.
The man at the Kaspersky forum suggested I disable the "Protection from network attacks" feature. They said I should because I also run ZoneAlarm Pro and there could be conflicts. This didn't help.
This is all I've done so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You guys have been a big help in the past. Before I started frequenting this forum I had lots of trouble with spyware and viruses and now my internet experience is almost trouble free. Thanks guys.

Hi all. Ok so I am a video game geek and I love to play games. So then my keyboard and Joysticks worked and everything until yesterday. I use ePSXe Playstation emulator to play games from PS1 and stuff. So yesterday I opened it and I went to Controll Configuration to configure my controlls. It gives me and Error: Error Initializing DirectInput. So then my emulator shuts down. Even when I run my ISO Playstation games it gives me that error and the game starts but my controlls don't work. So then I thaught to play my PC Games. So Boot one up and the black screen opens than the screen turns of and goes back to the desktop. Then I tried another game the same thing happened. I tried all my games and that's what happens. So then I put my Donald Duck's Goi'n [email protected]! Game and it boots up then it goes to the place where I have to choose the language but my keyboard doesn't work! I pressed anything but it doesn't work. Not even the ALT+ F4 or Control + ALT+ DELETE. Nothing. So I just turn my computer of via the button on the CPU. So my keyboard doesn't work with any games. I have played all those games but now they stopped working. So I went to Controll Panel to check on the Game Controllers but it doesn't open. I keeped on opening it but doesn't open. When I double click it the mouse shows te busy sign for 1 or 2 secs and nothing happens! So now I am really worried. I NEED HELP! I am so frustrated with this problem! HELP!

Any idea how to fix this? Using Windows XP SP2. I've tried restarting.

DO both left and right CTRL + C not work? Maybe a keyboard issue, or a keyboard driver.

The right half of my keyboard (L, O, 9, f9, and all other keys to the right) don't work. The only exceptions to this problem are the ']' key. Also, the only keys that don't work on the num-pad are 0456 and delete. The problem surfaced after I took my laptop apart to clean the fan, but once i reassembled the laptop, those keys didn't work. Hello all , my number keys on the right side of my keyboard do not work . I have windows vista & desktop .I tried another keyboard with usb plug in and same result . When pressing the "num lock" once there is a low tone ,then pressing again to illuminate as if on and a higher tone rings . This has never happened before and I only use a few websites like ebay, you tube , & amazon, plus the programs are all safe by norton antivirus . Sounds like a bug/virus or perhaps a setting that was mistakenly changed. I have tried a couple of free microsoft downloads that were recommended and also tried a couple of recommended setting changes but haven't been able to solve . Thanks for your help . Jonny Bultaco .

I have an unsolved problem re: burning, so I've resorted to formatting a partition of my hdd. UNFORTUNATELY, when try, it starts to go pear shaped.
I throw the xp cd in, and restart my comp, with boot priority given to the cd drive.
It then comes up 'press any key to boot from cd'. It is THEN, that my logitech elite (corded) keyboard decides not to respond to keystrokes.
So, inevitably, it boots up windows from my hdd and I cannot format (I'm trying to format my OS drive).
It's really odd, that it responds to del, when i want 2 enter BIOS, but a few seconds later, it won't respond even to smashing my face against every key possible (well, okay I exaggerate, but it's almost getting to that stage).
Is it something where the logitech itouch drivers go for a cigarette break for a second or two? or am i just plain screwed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and met with unlimited praise! (almost)

Yesterday I was working on my desktop, and Windows Update decided to pop up and install some automatic updates. I put it off by a few hours, so I could finish up my work and go to sleep. When I next tried to use the computer, I realized that somehow Windows Vista could not start. Once it got past the initial screen where I could access BIOS and everything, the computer would just automatically restart.
So I pulled out my installation disk, popped it into the drive, and did a repair on my computer. It supposedly worked, and I tried to access Vista again.
Now here's the problem that I'm currently having:
The keyboard works fine while the computer is booting up. In other words, I can access BIOS and all that. However, once the computer reaches the Vista logon screen, the keyboard and mouse don't receive any power from the computer at all. I can't turn on NumLock or anything like that. Therefore, I can't access my computer at all to try and repair it.
I tried a System Restore to right before it updated (or at least that's what I think the date stamp pointed to), but the problem persists.
I use a USB Keyboard and Mouse, and my computer does not have PS/2 keyboard or mouse ports. I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit, and my computer (and hardware inside) is maybe a year old at most, so I doubt any hardware has failed.
So basically I'm asking: Is there any way to fix my computer? Or will I have to get a Linux Live CD, back up... Read more

Hello so yesterday morning i woke up and i got on my laptop. and realized my keyboard stopped functioning so i restarted it mouse was working but the keyboard only worked for a second after the windows startup. so i formatted the computer again to windows 8.1 after installing few software's and drivers my computer went for a restart. when the system started up. the keyboard had stopped functioning again. at first i thought it was because there was some sort of virus in my files that i had transferred back on my computer. later i downloaded latest version of windows 10 installed it on 2 computers my brothers and mine. it seems to work perfectly fine with my brothers computer... after installing it on my computer the keyboard was working and running smoothly until i installed the windows update which gave problem with my graphics card driver and i thought it was because of my wireless card disconnected from internet. so i restarted the computer and again i'm stuck with a non working keyboard. and yes i have also checked ease of access.
so i don't know anymore what to do please help me? is there is problem with Nvdia gtx 780m graphics driver or is there a windows update causing this?
i'm sorry for the long paragraph. thank you for your time.
Have you tried another keyboard? You can plug a USB keyboard into the ports on the sides of the laptop.
As the problem occurs in both 8.1 and 10 - I'd have to wonder if there's a physical problem with the keyboard.
Frequently when I want to copy or paste something I end up typing a 'v' or a 'c' instead. Most of the time this means that whatever was marked it has disappeared and replaced by a single 'c'. Also quite frequently the keyboard enters two keystrokes where only one was made. I touch type and this doesn't happen on other keyboards. Anyone else is observing this? Will Lenovo improve the quality of the keyboard? Or is this specific to my keyboard and can I get a replacement?More replies
My USB keyboard works during the Dell startup screen, and works in Windows, but doesn't work in between, so during the 'press any key to load from CD' screen, the keyboard doesn't work. I could use any help or suggestions, because I'm anxiously awaiting reinstalling Windows. Thanks.
If you just want to reinstall windows, I would suggest using a PS/2 keyboard. Then switch to your USB keyboard when you're done.
Today I booted up my computer like always but my keyboard and mouse didn't work so i switched it off ( 5 sec on power button) and booted it again. But then it asked me if i want to boot in save mode but i couldn't move the cursor because my keyboard still wasn't working. So i searched on the Internet about a solution and found one that i should remove the mainboard battery, so i did that. Is it a USB or Wirelss Keyboard/Mouse?
If wireless, have you tried new batteries? Have you tried plugging the receiver into another USB socket? If wired, have you tred different USB sockets?
I know it sounds basic, but best to check.
I cannot get my keyboard to work, unless my pc is in safe mode ? I checked for drivers there are none missing. I did a system restore,
I bought a new keyboard, I checked every setting I could find and all seems good,I did a scan with AVG found Nothing.
So I am out of ideas other than to re-format and partions. So any other ideas and or options would be appriciated.
In safe mode, try deleting the keyboard drivers from device manager then rebooting to get them to reinstall.1 more replies
