Hardware Driver Won't Install

Q: Hardware Driver Won't Install

I have Win7 Professional so I can run some XP programs. I just attempted to install my ADS Tech Instant DVD+DV so I can convert VHS to DVD. Finally found an upgrade to the Capture program that will open but the hardware driver won't install - I keep getting
'Windows could not find driver software for your device. If you know the mfg can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.'
I have tried every driver they have that might work and I get the same response. At times I am able to access "Let me Pick from a list of Device Drivers - hit Have Disk - Browse - navigate to various extracted drivers I have downloaded - none worked. One driver did start to install but then - 'Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.' and 'Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. This device cannot start (Code 10).'
One driver installed it was an x64 but it wouldn't operate the device - it was a Video USB Driver.
I think that is what I need - a USB driver - that's how the unit plugs in.

As a note, earlier this week I did a bunch of Windows Updates which updated and showed the various Devices with Removable Storage as (5) E,F,G,H,and I. After today's attempts they have all disappeared. ?? How can I get them back?? Maybe that is affecting my attempts. The machine does recognize when I plug in the ADS device. I've been doing it 'hot'. Not looking for permission to.
Appreciate any info. Thanks

A: Hardware Driver Won't Install

Do you have SATA in AHCI mode so hot-plugging is enabled? That''s your permission.

Try SysRestoring to before the updates then study them more closely to see what they do and watch what results from installing them in smaller groups. Keep the device plugged in as Windows Updates should detect it and cue up a driver in optional.

You don't say if there are Win7 drivers for the device. If so, try running their installer as Admin, and also browsing to their unzipped files from Device manager. Does it list in Dev Mgr even after unhiding all devices on View tab? Vista drivers may need to be installed in Compatibility Mode, as likely would XP: Compatibility Mode

Google the name of the device + Windows 7 or Vista and see how others have resolved the issue.

Each time I try to install my new videomate tv tuner card drivers I receive an error message stating "Invalid Data" I have a Dell 4100 Dimension system running WinXP Professional. I emailed to tech support at Comprousa and they suggested that I down load the latest drivers and move the card to another PCI slot and start from the beginning. Well, I did what they suggested but Winxp starts to load the drivers but then gives the same error message does anyone know what the problem is and what to do about it?

A:Win XP hardware install driver error message

From their website I got the impression you should be running the latest reference drivers for your video card. That is, the driver from the video chip manufacturer, not the card maker.

The great thing about XP, is that there about a thousand ways to skin the same cat.

Try these:

Try to get as far as you can in the driver load, once it craps out on you, go into the Device Manager, find your hardware, it will most likely have a yellow exclimation mark on it. Right click and choose Update Drivers.

Cancel the install, in the control panel chose add/remove hardware and follow the prompts.

There are more ways too

Hi!I bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 15r SE 7520 for christmas paired with an AMD Radeon HD7730m gaming GPU. This week, I tried to install the latest catalyst drivers from the AMD website (13.1) and I got this error message: --> "AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to insompatible hardware/software on your computer. The version of you graphic adapter is not supported. Please contact your notebook manifacturer for a graphics driver update."I tried to reinstall the same drivers many times, and still got the same error message. Freak, because the AMD 7730m is working properly in Device Manager and I am 100% sure I am using the right drivers. So here are the things I tried:-Uninstalling CCC completely in control panel + regedit and complete reinstall. Nothing changed.-Deleting the AMD GPU in Device Manager and removing all of its drivers in order to reset it. Nothing changed.-Installing the AMD beta drivers. They successfully worked for about 5 hours, and then after they automatically uninstalled (???) and I am back at the starting point.-Installing modded drivers. No luck, it just automatically uninstalled just as the beta drivers. Really, this is awkward. So now I'm stuck. What should I do? Any advices? Need some help over here!Thank you very much.EDIT: I went to Dell Canada's website to update the drivers and it seemed to work. However, those are the OLD graphic drivers from no... Read more

HP Spectre 14t-3200
Earlier today, Steam was refusing to open so I did a hard reset by disconnecting the battery. Steam worked afterwards but now my computer has no sound. There is a red x next to the speaker in the task bar. When clicking on it it goes directly to "detecting problems" and then states "troubleshooting cannot find the problem."
I did a system restore to 4 days ago and it did not solve the issue.
I downloaded the IDT driver off of hp's website and I get the error message "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT Software Package" when I attempt an install.
In device manager, under "sound, video and game controllers," I have "intel display audio." When clicking on properties for that it states "the device is working properly."If I go to volume mixer it says "no audio device is installed."
Bluetooth speakers DO work.
My computer has beats audio and the little light under the "b" is not lit, but the computer is running pretty warm underneath the right palm rest, where the audio knob is located.
I have absolutely no idea what to do.

The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.

first off, I dual boot between Ubuntu and XP
the motherboard is an Intel server motherboard 2.8ghz
It has an AGP Nvidia 6200 video card. And supported by the Nvidia 280 driver
The computer motherboard is an Intel server 2.8ghz with agp slot

I did notice under system devices and exclamation mark on AGP to PCI controller something or other. Also with that card in, there is no video catagory listed in the devices listing

On XP I can not get the Nvidia driver to install. Ubuntu Nvidia driver is fine.
The card is working in other PC's.

(I hope this post is in the right place. If not, I apologize.)

Hi everyone,

I'm having some problems with my Windows XP SP3 desktop computer after a crash a few weeks ago. I took the computer in and had it repaired (the people said they did a repair installation of windows, which I had tried myself and failed). After a little tweaking, it seems to be back to normal except for two things: my webcam and my scanner needed to be re-installed, only re-installing them gave me the message "There was a problem when installing your new hardware. Your new hardware might not work properly" and now my webcam program (bundled with the webcam) "amcap" and my scanner program "Scanwizard" both say that I don't have the respective hardware attached to my computer when I try and run them. I have tried uninstalling the hardware and restarting then re-installing them and have had no success. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and I would greatly appreciate some advice and/or technical help.

Thanks in advance,

The repair install might not have been the right thing to do. You may be dealing with partial drivers left-overs... You might try using a "driver cleaner" and see if to can remove these partial drivers

I'm having this problem since few months ago. before I had installed a software named VMWare for my college's assignment in order for me to use Linux Ubuntu. but apparently it gave me a lot of problems until I decided to uninstall the software. after I uninstalled, all NEW USB devices such as external HD, flash drives and etc cannot be detected and windows always prompt "Found New Hardware" pop up message and require my windows to install driver software for my USB devices. I tried clicked the "Locate and install driver software (recommended)" but it still prompt out again the message. it happened for all new USB devices. I don't know why. maybe it happened after I installed the VMWare, I guess?

can someone help me with this? I cannot use my new flash drives and external HD for me to transfer my works. it's so tiring

not sure which section this pertains to specifically, but "drivers" seems close enough.

i recently upgraded to an sli graphics configuration. since upgrading, my previous method of avoiding the TDR driver crash has stopped working.
known fix that i can't get to work anymore

when running a single gpu, i could disable and uninstall the nvidia hd audio device, then disable and uninstall the hd audio controller under system devices. problem solved, no crashes.

after adding the second gpu, there are now two hd audio devices and two hd audio controllers. upon disabling or uninstalling either controller, the system automatically re-installs the hd audio devices previously uninstalled, which in turn causes the hd audio controller to re-enable/re-install itself.

to be clear, all hd audio devices and hd audio controllers on my system must be disabled AND uninstalled to prevent TDR (or, since the upgrade, full system freezes or restarts. sli = double TDR?)

Does anyone know how to fix this? Im practilly computer illiterate so please be easy on the big words and stuff =]

A:Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted

Please try the steps below:

1. Uninstall all third-party burning software, such as Nero and Roxio.

2. Perform a Clean Boot to test the result.

Clean Boot

a. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility.

Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up.

b. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
c. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
d. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK".

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment. If the issue disappears, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

If the issue persists, please contact your computer manufacturer to check if the DVD drive is damaged.

If not, you may need to restore the system to its factory settings.

Hope it helps.

Hello all-

My friend has an old laptop laying around that was broken so I told him hey what the heck bring it over and I'll fool around with it. He brings it over and I get my good old external HD that I use YUMI to install windows with. This thing is going nuts beeps & boops the whole time; I figured out the built in keyboard is fried due to liquid damage at some point I yank it out, I connect my dell wired keyboard that I use for all my "projects" and start again. I wipe the laptops HD and start my install. It completes the install portion that is booted from my external then restarts into in windows to finish the install on its own HD. Makes it all the way to the end where the screen flickers like its adjust the resolution. Moments after that "Windows could not be installed on this computers hardware- please restart"

I check everywhere online and I find a tutorial on this site that explains how to enter device manager in safe mode while installing win 7 (which I didn't bookmark like a fool!) I find that it has a LIST of drivers not recognized (graphic card is one). I down loaded the drivers from Acers website but while restarting the Win 7 install I click i the load with drivers button and it says they aren't in driver format.

I'm lost- about the call this laptop broke, done, cooked. I pulled the laptop HD out and ran disk check from my Dell desktop it was fine. The liquid damage doesn't appear to have damaged the internals of the laptop, the d... Read more

Hello All,

I am having a hard time with my HP laptop. I have an HP Pavilion ze2000 with an AMD Mobile Sempron Processor. It seems that my laptop has decided not to accept any ATI drivers for the ATI Radeon Xpress 200m that came installed in the computer. I have tried everything that I know possible and yet I can not seem to get the drivers to install. I am trying to use an S-VIDEO cord from my laptop to my flat screen T.V. however, when I press the fn and the f4 keys to switch moniters, it will not let me, and in my Device Manager under the Video Adapter it has an asterisk next to Video Controller (VGA Compatible) Here's what happends when I install the drivers.
At the start of the installation, everything starts off great, the ATI screen pops up and then the Install Wizard tells me it's going to install the ATI software, then the License Agreement. After agreeing I choose the Express (Recommneded) option. Then it starts to copy files and then it stops and a message box comes up saying, "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to set up your display adapter using a standard VGA before running setup". I have tried to do a "force" install through the device manager. I do have the most recent drivers for everything else, it's just this one issuse. I am so stumped it would greatly appreciated if anyone can help me with this problem.
Thank You Greatly,

Amd Phenom ii 1055T (2.8GHz)
Asus R7 260x OC 2gb
8GB of ram
ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
650Watt PSU

So, i have been experiencing this weird crash, ever since i upgraded to windows 10 and upgrading to the 260x (from a 5850). It is a BSOD but it not... blue, it is pixelated like a crashed BSOD and it is almost like a green and blue statick effect, i can see the behind all the mess so it MUST be a BSOD right? I can't really explain how it is, it is a REALLY messed up BSOD.

I would upload a picture but the system restarts too fast so most of the time i don't have time to take a picture, it doesn't crash under load or anyting it is completely random.

At first i thought it was a hardware problem so i bought the 260x ,its not just that, my brother who plays on his A-10 7850K alone gets the same crash too. So i was wondering if it was a driver problem? I did some research and many people have problems with their 260x crashing in a simillar way. I am no expert but if this is a common thing in AMDs cards, i might as well go with Nvidia.

Otherwise you can do a manual search for newer drivers by visiting the link below.  The download list can be sorted by the most recent date, but it is still a good idea to check version numbers.

Somewhere in the process I have started to get a message asking me to install the drivers for VID_04E6PID_80000002 . (it is also visible under Other Devices in device manager).
I have tried letting it search for a driver including on the net but it cant find one.

The only reference I can find on google is some site that lists it as a key phrase used on search engines!!! - clearly others are confused as well.

There is one other reference at but that winds up telling me to "install the right drivers" which is the problem anyway!!

Does anybody know

where can I get a driver
does it matter anyway
should I just remove it from the hardware profile

Hello there, I changed one of my HDDs around two weeks ago and also started to connect external HDD to the front usbs slots daily right after that (It not connected 24/7)

Day after that I got BSOD when I download things in all of my 3 HDDs and web in firefox and have IE10 opened in the background as I do daily for years. suddenly my mouse freeze and I got BSOD that claim it may be driver or hardware, I got it before with other system or maybe even on this one some long time ago and it just was fixed alone after restart as the BOSD stated, probably because win7 auto fix it.

I don't think it the HDD because I have three of the same kind and they all work fine (I just got one BSOD while I do what I always do even at this very moment and 100% of the time I never get BOSD and the system don't look like it under any stress)

Today I suddenly got another one. I let win7 look for fix in the second time and don't know if it fix the issue, it happening very rarely honestly.

I didn't touch the drivers but I know that my mobo have annoying bios so it may have hard time having 3 HDDs with the exact same version

I don't think it the HDDs or my gaming mouse, it may be the external HDD but I don't sure, all HDDs were tested with the last version of Crystal Disk Info and seem fine.

I send the dump files hoping to find someone who can help me debug them and tell me what the issue is

So my HP Laptop I purchased about a year ago had encountered some error while I was installing Sabayon Linux after creating the partition, etc. It was working until I hadn't realized I overwrote both the original Vista partition and the partition I created for Sabayon.

Well then I switched to a Beta version of Windows 7 and to my suprise it actually worked wonderfully, and my laptop was running perfectly. Unfortunately a few things I used often were not supported so I grabbed a copy of XP and was just going to start over with XP.

Unfortunately when I installed and booted XP, it could not detect any of the hardware, ie: graphics card, network card, etc.
So my question is; what do I do to get XP to function properly, as in how do I get my graphics card and network card detected? To my knowledge I have an nVidia but because it's not detected I do not know the model, and I have no clue what my network card is.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have been using an ATI RADEON X850XT PE for about a year now, and it doesn't support pixel shader 3.0 so then I decided to put in a ATI RADEON X1600 instead. I sued to use the x1600 three years ago before I got my x850.

After I put in the x1600 i botted up Win7 and then everythign worked fine, so I went and installed the x1600 drivers, but halfway throu the driver installaion i started seeing rainbow colors oving across th screen, then really bad errors like the moue cursor coming up 10 times and then spots of the screen jsu8t going black. Thhis all happened during the driver intsallation so I cant turn off the computer. Right whn it was about to finish... BSOD

I don't think that this is a driver issue, the three years thati didn't use the x1600 I took very bad care of it, it was laying on the floor, someone probably stepped on it, I'm in south florida so tempratures go above 40C.

So then i thougt, alright my the card is probably bad, I'll just put my x850 back. SO then I put the x850 back into my computer and booted up. It started up Win7 (automatically put resolution to 800x600 for some reason) and i logged into my user account, it did some startup things, started FileZilla, started ATITool and it even showed my temprature on the screen (39C, that's very good for where i live). Then I thought, OK all is good and I put m res... Read more

My system is a pentium motherboard, Win 98se, Office and IE6 c/w service paks

I recently installed an ADS Turbo 2.0 PCI plug and play USB card on my motherboard. This is a combo 2.0 and legacy 1.1 USB 4-port unit. When it came time to load the driver for the card, Iwent to "Device Manager" and located the listing for the USB card. It was apparantly detected as "NEC PCI to USB enhanced Host Controller". Using the "update driver routine, I was directed to load my Windows 98 cd-rom. Once loaded, the update routine scanned the rom and then announced that it could not proceed with the driver update. The message stated it could load the correct driver because file "openhci.sys" could not be found.
Because I went through the process of improving my O.S. software via the upgrade route rather than the full on CD method, and did that prior to 2000, I am wondering if I am now short a file that I now need to complete my USB hardware install? Is this file available from a source somewhere as a standalone? Is there another *.sys file that the Update routine would accept? Am I going to need anything else by way of files to complete this load? I have the software files for the card on CD-rom but without this particular absent file, which I think stands for "open host controller information.system" I am stuck.
Please advise. Thanks in advance, Copernicus, ends.

Over the past couple of days I have been having problems with USB devices. None of them (not even the printer) will work properly, with the error:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)
I have tried various solutions on the Internet but they have not worked.
The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory.
I have tried restarting, reinstalling the driver and troubleshooting. Here is the report:

There is nothing connected to this PC other then the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and a GTX 660, all seem fine. So I`m assuming this is something on the board, could one of you hardware ID experts have a look at the pics and give me your thoughts, If you need anymore info let me know., and Thanks in advance

BY the way, this is a clean install done after upgrading from 7 to 10. After that upgrade Device Manager was perfect, but aftera clean install it now has this little issue, so far there are no issues because of it, yet
Windows is fully updated. Now running build 10586, sfc is perfect etc.

First of, My English isn't that good.

Okay. Problem..

It began unexpectedly, my taskbar and explorer.exe are spazzing out. In the taskbar, the icons were moving fast as if it's being refreshed rapidly.

Windows, I have Chrome open and sometimes in the middle of an activity, it goes "not responding" and it's being refreshed like crazy too, sometimes it even minimizes the windows I have open.

I don't know wether this is Hardware or Software or even Drivers..

I need this to be solved/fixed as soon as possible.

Hi, all. This is my first post. I've searched all over for an answer and have read of other people having the same problem but have found no solutions. I do consumer support for my company's products. One of our hardware devices doesn't work well with XP service pack 2 and we have a new driver that solves the problem. I had a customer call in with this problem (her device doesn't work) and she downloaded the new driver and can't install it. I've talked to her 3-4 times, sent her numerous step by step instructions, etc to no avail. All I know is she has a Dell with XP SP2. The device did work before but I think she pulled the USB cord out with out stopping the device first (thus uninstalling the driver correct?). The old driver should get the thing working but I thought since I was talking to her she should get the new driver to make sure she won't have problems in the future.

When she uninstalls the driver, unplugs the device and then plugs it back in it never starts the hardware wizard (weather or not she restarts her computer as well) and the device shows up in device manager as "unkown device". She always has update the driver from device manager to start the hardware wizard. The new driver is located in the C:, and she has the old one on CD as well. No matter what combination of the hardware wizard we try nothing loads the driver. She gets several messages: there is no information about the hardware here (or something similar)... Read more

Then I get a blue screen with white text (Passes for like 5 seconds) and then the computer restarts.. I cant even open a window browser before the computer does this.

I am currently typing this on the same computer, but in "Safe Mode" and everything seems to work fine now.

I am currently running Windows 7 64 bit. This is not a new setup, computer hardware is about 8-9 years old at this point..

The graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

Thanks for the help guys, hopefully I can get my computer back to working condition again.

Without the proper drivers those devices will not work properly, once you install the drivers then Windows will know what to do with them and they should then be fully functional.

Hello my Friends,
I am here searching for some help in the most strange bug i have ever seen!

I have a Desktop XPS420. I know, is a old desktop but it works perfectly and quite fast!

Despite of non official drivers, i was using windows 10 10.586 normally on it, not even a bug! So i was trying to update do windows 10 anniversary (14.393) but i was getting some errors because of an old Microsoft office 2010 installed.
Then i used the windows 10 restore option to get it "clean" so a update shouldn't be a problem. Everything ran well, no errors, nothing. But after the restore is done, i just dont have any USB entrance working! All my USB ports are literally, offline. Doesn't even have power!
My first though was that it burned somehow, but i realized that in BIOS setup and any other "pre-boot" screen, everything works perfectly, all usb ports, etc.
So, i think that this weird situation is caused by drivers issues. Then I ask to expertises, how can I solve it? Does anyone know a driver version compatible with windows 10?
obs : I am really fu***. Since the UBS doesn't work, how do I control my desktop when there is only USB entrance for keyboard and mouse? LOL

A:BSOD, GPU driver or hardware fail?

Does the motherboard have onboard video, and if so are you using that at the moment? Do note that error code 43 means that the Geforce card itself has told the device drivers that it has officially kicked the bucket. The crashdumps also are unanimous: your device drivers waited for the GPU to do something and the GPU has - you guessed it - failed, multiple times. You'll want to get that dead suckweed replaced.

hi all,
recently i installed XP Pro, and when i install the driver for the integrated ADI HD Audio Driver, it would come up with an error saying 'audio hardware not compatible with driver'. It is very weird because before i had formatted, i was using XP Home Edition, and it was working fine.
In device manager, the only thing with a question mark is a PCI Device (which is not the integrated sound). I have checked BIOS, Device manager, tried reformatting again.
What are some other possibilities? Any ideas would be great, thanks.

A:audio hardware not compatible with driver?

Welcome to Techspot!

uninstall that pci device. i dont know why that is showing up if you do not have a pci sound card installed.

instead of installing drivers for your card, try just restarting your PC and letting plug and play detect it. click cancel for all the dialogs to install drivers for it. wherever your driver files are, extract them to a folder if they are zipped or compressed or anything. then, go into control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager>and find your card. right click on it and click properties. click update driver (or reinstall or install whatever it says). click i will choose the location to install from. choose the folder where you downloaded your driver files to as the install folder. this should work if you have the right drivers. what is the exact name of your motherboard and brand and name of the card, etc? please post here so we can make sure that you have the best drivers for your card.

I have a Toshiba L20 - brilliant new notebook PC.

Sadly it did not include a Line In socket, so I purchased the Imic2.

I cannot get the device to work.

Can anyone help me with the set up procedure?

I have Windows XP service pack 2

When I connect, it says New Hardware Found, and prompts me for drivers.

I have no drivers or installation disc. The device is plug-and-play and requires no drivers.

When I ignore all the prompts it decides the hardware cannot be found and will not recognise the device.

Perhaps you can browse C/Windows/SOMETHING to find the driver?

I inquired with griffin who said the iMic is only fully supported in Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you don't have SP2, you're likely missing some important USB audio drivers. They wanted me to contact Microsoft, because the USB audio devices are not being recognized properly.

I don't think it may be taht drastic.

Can anyone help with links etc to help set this up?

Thank you very much for your help, it is most appreciated

Lots of love - Belinda xxxxxxxxxxxx

The only patch/update/fix for XP that I know of is designed to add support for "Hi-Def" audio. Microsoft's KB888111. It is installed during many newer sound card driver installs. Without it, any "hi-def" on-board audio chipset will be detected as an "Unknown PCI Device" by XP. Perhaps this is the same cause for your non-detected device.

If you can't find this download anywhere, try installing some newer Realtek audio drivers (which should install the "Hi-Def Audio Pack" as part of its installer) Look for a large set of drivers (5+ MB) not a tiny little file. (~100KB)

I have Windows XP Media Center Edition on a Dell E521. Just recently, within this past week, I have connected my USB SanDisk ImageMate SDDR-05 Flashcard reader to my computer in order to transfer picture files from my camera to the computer via a flashcard. While doing the initial setup the Wizard Install box instructs me through all the necessary steps, but it finally states that: ?the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software.? I?ve attempted this procedure several times but always with the same result...I still can?t find the device anywhere on my computer, not even within the My Computer icon. On the device manager the SanDisk hardware appears (identified as USB CFII), but as a yellow question mark upon which I always end up uninstalling/removing it. I called SanDisk tech help and they said that their Flashcard Reader already has its driver pre-installed within every XP system...and that is why their website does not offer any ImageMate SDDR-05 driver downloads for XP. I have even tried changing to the other computer USB ports including one which my printer already works without any problems...but I still get the same none result. This hardware did work, without any issues, with my older Dell which had a Windows 98 OS. The SanDisk tech suggested I contact Microsoft... Any suggestions on what I could/should do to remedy this? I had problems with my computer crashing so the local repair shop re-installed Windows XP. Only one problem. Went to plug-in my flashdrive and the "New Hardware" wizard popped up, I went through the process, the wizard chose the Intel® ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2832 and then it came up with a dire warning:
"The software you are installing for this hardware has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing."
I tried deleting the existing drivers for the USB and re-starting Windows but the "New Hardware" wizard popped up again and the same problem......
Should I ignore the warning and install? or look elsewhere for a USB driver? Seems like the driver should work as wizard found the driver on my system.....
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanx, M.

A:USB New Hardware Driver Imcompatible with Windows

Ignore the warning. You have used this USB previously on other machines, and it was fine right? I would however install McShield on the machine, just to be safe. Also another tool, to make sure you are not transferring crap onto your freshly formatted machine. Since they formatted your machine, are there any yellow question marks in device manager? If so then I would suggest getting all your drivers with this tool.
Good luck, and let me know how things go.

Can anyone suggest a reason why my computer's O.S. (Dell laptop, WinXP Profess., SP3) would not recognize a device driver file when the computer recognizes the hardware device correctly, then asks for the driver file (which is the correct file for the hardware) but can't seem to either locate it on the computer or "accept" it? I have posted this question in the "Hardware" forum, but got no replies. Then I started to think that it might not be a hardware problem since the hardware (a USB wireless adapter for WiFi) can be installed in my other computer but maybe some issue with my laptop's operating system. I have not had this type of issue with any other added hardware in the past.

A:New hardware driver file not recognized by Win XP

Sure. The driver is installed and damaged...the device is not functional...those would be my first two guesses. Installing an incorrect driver could be a 3d option. If the device is cure for that.If the driver is damaged...remove all drivers other than those which are working properly for other functions...then try to install the device, using the correct driver package.Removing unused device drivers from Windows XP machines - Louis

Im having some wierd problems with my computers network (lan card) and grapich card.

My lan card has problems with downloads/uploads.
If i download anything over 100 mb, or watching some youtube vids after each other, sharing files between my computers, it suddenly cuts off the internet at says that there is limited or no connection.
The only way to get this to work again it have to shut my network down (network properties), then open it again.
My onboard Radeon X200 Mobile (x200m) on my laptop is also failing. If i watch videos in full screen (videofiles or youtube etc.), play games, edit videos and more, it suddenly crashes and restart the drivers.

Before you answer:
- The problem has been there for a while now
- My computer has latest drivers for these two components
- The same happens on xp and vista
- No viruses found (nod32 antivirus-tested)
- The computer it self has been cleaned for dust and other "dirt"
- I've googled it, but nothing found

If any have suggestions of how i can fix these two things, it would be very appreciated

My desktop went out of warranty and when I go to find updates and drivers the HP website won't take me to where I can find out downloads and install them? Matter of fact it doesn't seem like they will do anything unless I'm under warranty. At least Dell will allow you to download and update. I don't think it matters but I went from 8GB to 16GB of memory (that's maxed out on this desktop) that I would need any drivers or updates? This p/c is about 2 years old and would think there's some driver/updates available?

Well I have an hp dv2000 series. Service tag says dv2810us, above that it says dv2500 and bios model number says DV2700. So I don't know what I have actually lol. Anyways, its got win 7 professional 64 bit. Its processor is AMD x2 64 mobile. The problems I'm having is in the device manager. There are no audio/video/game controller listed AND it is not detecting my CD-ROM drive (I've already tried 3 other optical drives). I know you don't need drivers for the cd rom drives so I don't know what to do about that. However, for the audio drivers I have literally tried everything available to no avail. I either get an error messege saying the device for this driver cannot be found or there is no media for this device. I'm a computer tech so you can be sure I've tried everything I could ha. I'm getting a few other driver errors in the device manager, 3 of them are "base system device" and one of them is 1193 EEE controller. I've downloaded all drivers manually from the hp site and these are still there. I can provide harware IDs for them when I get home. So does anyone have any suggestions? I cannot use driver discs because I do not have the originals. Does this sound like a motherboard issue or driver issue? These hp DV models are notorious for motherboard issues so I would not doubt it. Let me know what you guys think.

A:hp driver issues or hardware issue

Also, I put a hard drive from a dv6000 model in it that had vista home premium 32 bit and installed all necessary drivers but had the same problems as I do with the win 7 OS

Hello all,

I've previewed quite a few threads here, seeing if there's anyone with problems like mine, of course there are and so I'm hoping I can find help. I'm going through the "Please Read Before Posting!" sticky so that we can all be as helpful to each other as possible.

I need some help with a Vista Home Prem install.

I did a "clean install" from XP Home using Upgrade media. The first install series went bad during a Windows Update reboot when I let it update several "recommended" updates at once. End result a new clean install.

Second install went much better and system was working well for a couple of days. I normally leave the machine running but due to wx in the area, chose to shut down last night. On restart when I arrive at the desktop I get an immediate notification that Windows has found new "Unknown" hardware and wants to install drivers. It offers me the usual options for finding the drivers or ignoring the problem for now. When I attempt to select an option, I find that the cursor is frozen and nothing seems to resolve that.

I've tried a Start Up problems found. I've tried a couple of system restores to different (known functional) prior dates but after the restore and subsequent reboot, the problem reappears. Tried a Safe Mode boot...same thing. I was using a Logitech bluetooth USB mouse/keyboard, so I replaced that with a PS2 setup...same result. I have disconnected all cables other than the monitor and keyboard/mouse...same thing. I'd provide error logs if I could get to them, but that seems impossible (at my "enthusiast" skill level)

I downloaded a driver for my Epson C82 printer. I burned the zip file to a CD so that I could install the printer on another computer. How do I get the drivers installed. I burned the driver to a CD because I lost the installation CD.

Next question: I have two onboard USB ports on the computer that are not working. I suspect the ports because the same USB devices work on another computer. For instance: memory sticks, USB mouse.

Next question: The same computer in questions "reads" some floppies and not others.

Thanks for your help.

I am running Window XP Professional on the computers that I am using.

A:Driver Installation and Other Hardware Issues

For the printer you need to copy the zip file from the cd to the hard drive on the system on which you wish to install the printer. Put it in its own folder. Then you need to unzip the file. When it's time to install the driver for the printer point windows to that location.

Did the USB ports ever work? Is this a brand system or did someone build it and not hook up the ports? Check in Device Manager for any problems with the USB controllers.

That's the nature of floppies and floppy drives. There are floppy drive cleaners. It might help it might not.

For my computer, I have an Acer Aspire 5733z model. And I would like to know on how to install a driver to make it compatible with my computer hardware. Like my motherboard for example. My laptop has an HM55 chipset, and 4 GB of memory. I found an interesting article about how to hack a driver to support the hardware on the computer. If I find the article, I will let you know. But for now, that's about all I have to say. But anyway, just let me know on how to hack some of my drivers. So thank you very much for your time!

A:I would like to know on how to hack a driver to support my hardware

Not recommended! it could cause a lot of issues with your system cause conflict with other drivers, and BOSD'S. Go to the manufacture of your computer and look for a compatible drivers for your chipset, or the manufacture of your motherboard and download and install the chipset drivers for Windows 7 64bit. I believe hacking drivers is not possible also it is ill advised your system could become useless, and unusable. Why could you want a hacked and unstable drivers for your chipset when the manufacture of your laptop has a compatible drivers for laptop as a whole chipset, video, audio plus more for Windows 7?

Basically the family member who owns this PC stated the network stopped working mid task. (Yes, it was a safe site, they are not that type) Couple of hours on the phone with the internet provider ended with a "The problem is at your end, nothing we can do..." spiel. Understandable once I had the PC delivered to me and went into the device manager to see a row of yellow triangles for every network component.
Rebooted into safe mode with networking. Ran Norton Internet Security. Ran Malwarebytes. Nothing. No internet. Green and orange lights at network port. OK I think. Lets reinstall the drivers. Go to Acer website. Get drivers. Will not install. Says it cannot find any network device. Restart PC and go into BIOS. Onboard LAN is enabled there. Get newer driver from Intel website (nice to have 2 PCs) and same thing.

I was looking at my system logs today and found an error that is being repeated quite a lot and I would like to get rid of the darned error.

The error in the applications event loge is TrueVector Service, event 5003. The message in the event says:

TrueVector driver: Driver install or load failure: LoadNTDeviceDriver. Win32 error: The system cannot find the file specified.

I checked on the Internet and have found numerous resources indicating that TrueVector is a part of zone alarm. The weird part is that I have never had zone alarm or any other firewall installed -- Note even Microsft's within XP SP2. I have no references to Zone Alarm in my registry. My references to TrueVetor are in My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\TrueVector Service

Can someone suggest any soluton to getting rid of this event?

i recently purchased a Kindle Fire HD 7" (tablet), and i have 2 PCs running Win 7 Ultimate x64 w/SP1...on the one PC, when i connected the Kindle via USB, Windows recognized the Kindle as a USB mass storage device as it should , installed the drivers, and i was able to access the Kindle via Windows Explorer to transfer media

but on the second PC, when i connected the Kindle via USB, Windows recognized a new device, but the driver install FAILED, and i got an error message stating "MTP" Driver could not be installed...i tried this several times, and always the failed driver install....i even did a fresh install of Win7 x64 on to a brand new HDD, and i got the same error again obviously the Kindle does not show up in Windows Explorer, and i can't transfer anything to/from it

in Device Manager, under "Other Devices", i have "MTP" listed with the yellow triangle...i have tried letting Windows update the driver, but it always comes back with unable to locate a driver

i've contacted Amazon, but they're clueless, and believe it's a Windows issue...i've searched everywhere online, and it seems i shouldn't need any special drivers with Win7, and that Win 7 should install the device automatically as a "mass storage device"...and as i mentioned, on one of my PCs, the install worked fine, it's the second PC that is driving me nuts

what can possibly be the problem?

Hello Seven Forums. I have been having many problems with my custom built desktop regarding Blue Screen of Deaths. I have been on these forums before with this problem but I was unable to resolve the problem.

The problem is, my computer tends to BSOD when I either start up or shut down but also does it in between after minutes to hours of use. 90% of the time, the message that comes up in my BSOD is "Memory_Management". I have run a memory test using memtest86 but even after 5 passes, no problem was detected. I even bought a brand new 1 TB hard drive and that was not the problem. The odd thing is, when I run a Windows memory test, it states that there are hardware problems but does not describe what it is.

So basically, it seems the problems could be either, my RAM, drivers, or an unknown hardware problem.

Help pinpointing the problem and some tips on resolving it would be amazing. Thank you very much Seven community. You have helped me before and hopefully you will find the kindness to help me for the last time.

Hi Experts,

I have been investigating for a while now and I'm still stuck with no explanation.

I just bought a new desktop choosing every component and I have BSOD coming randomly, most frequently during video games / video editing. Sometimes i don't even get a blue screen but a freeze and i have to reset the machine.

I was suspecting hardware issue but the following tests ran without issues:

memtest at boot (overnight for each memory module). Currently i'm running with only 2x8Go modules out of 4 because 2 of them show some errors
seatool for HD check
furmark for GPU check - temperature stable after about 10min run (78 degrees)
prime95 for CPU - no error and temperature stable using speedfan after running for about 10min (67 degrees)

my config is:
biostar z87 3d
i7 4770k (3.5Ghz)
16Go corsaire vengeance (originally it was 32)
gigabyte 780 gtx
ssd 250 samsumg
wd 1To 7200rpm
tp-link wifi network card tp-link
running under windows 7 ultimate

Appreciate any feedback to narrow down where the issue could be coming from !

Please find the zip with data collected (I left only the most recent dumps)

thank you !

A:BSOD with different reasons: hardware of driver issue ?

You've built yourself a pretty nice system. I must say, I'm a little jealous.

Your blue screens are all over the place, but they all show memory related operations. That isn't to say they're caused by the physical RAM in your system though because there are a lot of components that are involved when memory is accessed, from where it's accessed, if it's cached, etc.

Without consistent crashes it's going to be rather difficult making a determination via crash dump analysis. What I can say that I'm fairly certain of is it's not driver related. It does indeed appear to be caused by hardware.

To be honest, I'm not really up on Biostar. I've never used their boards. I stick pretty much to the enthusiast class of Asus boards.

The Intel process and Corsair memory are top notch. I'm surprised you had issues with 2 modules of memory since Corsair is some of the best on the market. The only thing I would suggest is that you buy your memory in dual sets (16GBx2). Many motherboards (I mean A LOT) don't jive well with quad sets.

The Samsung SSD is top of the line (as long as it's the 840 Pro model).

Gigabyte is well known. I've not had any of their graphics cards but I've read good things about them. I personally use EVGA.

One thing you didn't include is your power supply. Many people overlook this component when building a machine. But IMO, it's one of the most important components to invest in. Can you provide some details on the PSU?

So, with all that said, next steps?... Read more

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I started getting a weird problem with my screen, the entire screen has a red colored overlay/tint and I have no idea what the issue might be. I use dual monitors and it will only happen on one monitor, switching the cables around doesn't help but if I switch the cables around it will change monitor (it only affects the monitor that is set as main).

Here's what it looks like:

The OS is Windows 7 64-bit and the graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2

Also one thing to note, last night I switched the cables around for a while to test different things and it ended up without any problems for a few hours, but later on it returned.

Anyone know how I can troubleshoot this further or have seen this issue before?

Thanks a lot!

A:Red Tint on the screen, driver or hardware issue?

Hi swirishninja and Welcome to TSF,

This issue is most likely hardware related. The main cause would be that either a PIN on the vga/dvi connector has been bent/broke, or one of the female-connectors on the graphic card is broke.

Could you please confirm this and see if it's any of the two connections on your graphic card that this seems to be related to? It should only be from one of them, or from one of the monitors nomatter the switch, if you know what I mean.

Today I had decided to uninstall my current AMD Catalyst driver, which was the 14.4 Release Candidate driver, and I looked up a guide on how to do it. I found a result for using the AMD Uninstall Utility to remove the graphics driver, and although that seemed to have worked fine, it also uninstalled every single driver I had, most importantly all USB drivers. Guess what that means? I can't use my mouse or keyboard (or any USB device for that matter)! So, for the last 3 hours or so, I've been switching USB ports, I've been rebooting my PC, trying to access HP's stock Recovery or BIOS, but mashing F8, F10, Escape, Delete or any other possible key on startup didn't help at all. So, now I'm stuck here writing about this because a few Google searches or asking a few friends didn't work (in fact one friend even referred me to this forum). Also, I typed this all from my tablet which has a detachable keyboard, in case you thought "how the hell is he doing this without a keyboard?".

Incase you wanted to know anything spec wise, you could check here:$pcmcat212600050008&cp=1&lp=2

I haven't modified the hardware at all, so this should be good enough (sorry I can't recall specs :|).

Did you try F11(System Recovery)?

I can't install the drivers for following; the Multimedia Audio Controll, Sm Bus Drivers and Video Controller.

Instead of saying no that I don't want to connect to the internet to find the drivers I said yes and the hardware wizard can't find the drivers because I assume that they aren't on the internet. The problem is that I can't get the hardware wizard back to stage one when it asks those three questions;

1. yes, connect only this time,
2. yes, connect whenever I want to install drivers
3. no, not at this time(which is the one according to a website that I found is the one I should have clicked).

Is there a way to reset things so that I get asked the questions again?

2.Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3.Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4.In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5.Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Since XP support is going away And I have some older devices such as

VBOX 3560 tuner
ATI PCI HDTV Wonder card

Which are listed as xp drivers, although windows 7 updates finds and installs them and they work good.

WILL those drivers still be available on windows update?
I simply put device into PC, then run windows update in control panel. Win 7 update finds the XP drivers and installs them. It will not tell you they are XP drivers.

I have downloaded some drivers off windows update catalog.
Is that something everyone should do? Update all XP device drivers beofre XP support is gone?

I'm in the process of building an HTPC and keep have what appears to be a hardware or driver problem. The PC keeps rebooting or goes into a blue screen and locks up after some period of use. Does anyone know any software I can get that will track and log the problem when it occurs so I can try to narrow the problem down? Thanx!

A:Hardware/driver error tracking software

I have attached some Everst reports of my system prior to a crash. If any of you can make sense of the data and spot something I should look into, please reply. By the way I have never been able to get my CPU bus spped up to the 166 like it should run, I suspect there's a link there. Also should the negative voltages in the sensor report be that high?

Again thanx in advance for any help you can provide!

A:Creative Sound driver says hardware can't be found?

What windows version do you have ?
sounds like you may have a hardware issue, if the driver cannot find the hardware to install
Whats the make and model of the PC
when it boots up - do you get any error messages

{Device Manager}
Post back the results in device manager
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

post a screen shot of the device manager

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.

Hey guys, I'm having problems with my month old Qosmio X505-Q830.

Intel i7-720QM
4GB DDR3 1066
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
GeForce GTS 250M - running 187.23 (I tried the new ones, but have since uninstalled/safe mode/driver sweeper/reinstalled stock ones provided by toshiba)
DirectX 11

Okay, so I've been getting these pesky BSOD's for a few weeks now. (Practically since I got the thing out of the box, I think it ran okay for a week or two before this started happening)
The stop error is 7C and it lists nvlddmkm.sys as the problem file. (I've looked at a couple of the stop errors as well as looked at the minidumps with windbg, all the stop errors are pointing at this file)

This happens while I'm playing games, this happens when I have it idling overnight, pretty much whenever it feels like it as far as I can tell.

So far, I have made sure to run windows update, I tried installing the latest nvidia drivers from their site (since toshiba only has the 187.23 that I listed above) that didn't fix the problem so I reset it to the older version by uninstalling the Nvidia display driver from the control panel. Restarting in safe mode and removing nvidia display drivers with driver sweeper, restarting and reinstalling the driver.

I have consulted every single forum I can find, and the following solutions I have found:

1. When Vista came out, apparently there was a similar issue. The issue was solved by waiting for nvidia to come out with a... Read more

Some history:
Been using this system for about 2 years without problems.
A month ago, I installed a 2nd GTX780 to run in SLI. Back then, I used a 4 year old Corsair HX750W power supply.
I knew about the possibility of the power supply not being sufficient, so I bought a Cooler Master 850W power supply from a private induvidual.
Long story short, that turned out to be a scam so instead of waiting for a new power supply to arrive, I decided to try with my old power supply.
In the end, after a few weeks and alot of unexplained BSODs and a couple of reinstallations of Windows, it turned unstable and delivered a power surge (which my motherboard told me it protected my computer from).
At this time, I bought a new power supply and installed into the system (which i thought would solve all my BSODs).
But it didn't and futhermore, the BSODs are now present even on my old setup (without the GTX SLI).

My current situation:

? CPU runs hot when stressed (gets up to 87 degrees celsius) but I've run prime95 (small FFTs) without errors.
? Memtest86 for 5 hours without errors.
? A prim... Read more
