Hi guys, bought a new PC recently and got everything set up fine, except the GPU.

Its all installed correctly but when I go to install the drivers from either Windows Update or the given CD and restart to save changes, I lose video signal.

I see the boot screen and Windows 7 loading bar, afterwards my screen says "Mode not supported".

I'm using the Nvidia 560 Ti and my screen is a Samsung LE19R86BD.

Is the installation possibly switching to 1080 while my monitor isn't supporting it?

A:No video signal after installing GPU software/drivers

I've read that there are times when the driver can't properly read the EDID data from the TV, and causes display problem. Can you boot into safe mode, change the display setting to 1440x900, then reboot into normal mode? Looks like your nVidia card has both HDMI & DVI connection, maybe try changing connection from one type to the other?

The driver I found on nVidia's site is version 285.62. Is that what you have?

I recently purchased the DWL-G122 wireless adapter for my little niece's computer. After installing the driver and software from the cd that came with the adapter, her computer would lock up. She is running on a Windows ME platform. Occasionally it would allow me to configure a connection before locking, so I was able to add my router and get connected to the internet. In order to prevent the locking, I disable the configuration utility in the startup menu. The internet worked fine for about a week. Now, we trying to load the configuration utility so I can add my router again, the computer either will load the tool and then lock up before I can add the router again, or it will not load the utility and work, but slower than before. What can I do to get her computer on the internet again? Do I need to download newer firmware or something like that? Thanks for any and all help.

Greetings,

I'm new to this site and wondered if someone would tell me why I have to restart my computer each time new software or drivers are installed on it. I heard that some applications don't require restarting. Is that correct and what are those applications?

Thanks for your help.

What

A:Solved: why restart a computer after installing software/drivers?

It allows the driver or software to take effect, some require to be loaded as the system starts or replace existing files that are currently in use on the restart. Restarting allows these drivers and software to load registry settings, services, startup programs, replacing files, and configure the system as they require. Most drivers require a restart, but not all. Most programs do not require a restart but there's lots that do.

Its also just good practice, if there's a problem restarting right after the installation will tell you why the system suddenly doesn't start or has a problem; you've just installed that application or driver.

I have an HP 5500 series printer and ever since I installed Adobe Professional 7.0 the software keeps installing itself over and over and I can't get it to stop. I have tried uninstalling Adobe and reinstalling and it does the same thing. Anyone ever heard of this? Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I'm a newbie here so I hope I have posted correctly. Thanks!!!

A:HP Printer software keeps re-installing by itself after installing Adobe Prof. 7.0

Click Start - Run, type in MSCONFIG, then click OK - Startup(tab).

Look for entries that start with hpz, similar to what you see here.

Uncheck those entries, click Apply - OK, then reboot.

See if that helps.

EDIT: I just realized i posted this in the wrong category.. sorry :/

Hey.

I hope you guys can give me a hand now cause i'm all out of ideas!

I re-formated my sisters computer yesterday, and after installing it i had no internet. As i hadn't installed any drivers yet, i understood that. But after heading over to dell's site, downloading all of the drivers for her computer and then installing them, i STILL do not have any internet.

I don't see any connections on the computer either, it's just blank!

Here's a screenshot.

Her computer model:
Dell OptiPlex 170L.

And the drivers for her computer can be found right here.

I installed all Chipset, Video, Audio and Network drivers. Have i missed out on anything important?

Any ideas what's wrong here?

Thanks in advance,
-Nike

I had to re-install my OS (Windows XP) due to some un-deletable viruses, and now I have to re-install all of the drivers, which is something I have never done before, and I'm having some problems.

I have a Dell, Demension 2350, and run on XP (as I mentioned before).

The drivers that my Device Manager says are missing are:

Other Devices
-Ethernet Controller
-Multimedia Audio Controller
-SM Bus Controller
-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
- Lexmark Lexmark Z55 [it has a question mark beside it, like the rest, but not an excalmation mark over it, like the rest. Does this mean that it is missing, or its not missing?]

I'm using the Dell Dememsion Resource CD. The one that's called "Drivers and Utilities", and its contents read:
-Device Drivers
-Diagnostics and utilities
-Computer documentation

For one, the drivers go by different names on the disc than in the Device Manager, so that's confusing, and secondly, the installation instructions aren't clear enough as to all of the steps.

If anybody could tell me which driver is which on the disc, and the Device Manager, and tell me exactly how to install these suckers, I'd be greatful.

I am using Windows 2000 (had win98 at one time). I tried installing a USB hub recently, but my usb devices stopped functioning. I uninstalled, then tried reinstalling (plugging the devices into the usb ports in back of my pc instead of the hub). I got the Webcam working, but my digital camera, jvc camcorder, and card readers won't work. What happens every time i try to install the drivers is:
It says "Windows found a driver that is a closer match than your current driver" - c:\winnt\inf\oem1.inf
I tell it to install one of the other drivers. It tells me "the file eusbsm.sys is needed". It finds it in WINNT\SYSTEM.
Then it says "Setup cannot copy the file euiossm.pdr.
It finds it in WINNT\system32\drivers.
Then it says it cannot copy the file euiossm.inf. It does not find it on my system so I direct it to the CD-ROM, which has this file located in the folder WIN9X.
Then it says, "An error occured during the installation of the device. The installation failed because a function driver was not specified in this instance."

It always looks for these same files, regardless of the device I am trying to install. And the error message is the same each time as well.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated! I work from home as a freelance designer, and desperately need to resolve this issue asap.

I attached a copy of my IRQ.

Sincerely,

Kira Kohl

A:Installing New Drivers

DriverAgent.com is a good site for scanning your system - but the results are a bit confusing (IMO). I use it when experiencing problems as a possible "pointer" to the affected driver. Are you having any problems with your system? Most people here recommend the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" strategy for drivers. But if there are some issues updating drivers is often the only way to fix them. Also, please be aware that when new drivers are released - they are hopefully "mature". But at times they'll cause more problems - so update with care. That being said, here's a link on how to update your drivers: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-update-a-windows-hardware-driver/

What do you mean by "things got messed up", what happened? What driver version does it show, the latest is 5.3.

To uninstall your drivers, first download Driver Cleaner. The go to add/remove and uninstall both the Control Panel and the Display Drivers. Then reboot into safe mode, and run Driver Cleaner. First run the Cab Cleaner, be patient, it will take a while and you will think nothing is happening. Next run the driver cleaner, be sure to select ATi, it should be pretty quick doing this. After that, reboot and install you new drivers, and control panel if you downloaded it seperately.

hi

i noticed that not all my driver updated

since i have motherboard with integreted sound, LAN, Video etc......

i installed everything from the web page of the motherboard (so i dont think i miss something)

but i see that the USB, IEEE 1394 , IDE/ATA/ATAPI controller, floppy drive, HD , CD drives etc...

and basicly everything else is windos xp default driver (2001)

shouldnt they be updated??? or its normal

A:installing drivers

Most drivers will be the default windows driver. It's nothing to worry about - things like video cards, network cards, sata controllers, bluetooth, and attached peripherals will need special drivers, but for standard stuff like those I/O devices you describe, the OS has standard drivers. You don't need manufacturer supplied drivers for them, and for the most part there aren't any.

If you're concerned about being up to date, you should install all your OS updates. When you go to the windows update website, if you click custom instead of express, you can look at the available driver updates from MS if you click on hardware.

But hey - your system works fine, correct? So you shouldn't even be concerned.

Hello Jimlau, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Maybe, maybe not. It would be best to have all of your drivers installation files downloaded and saved somewhere (ex: USB flash drive) first in case you do need them to be installed to be able to connect to the network/internet.

Hope this helps,

I have many usb sticks and a ext drive and none of them will install on my desktop. Everything works on my laptop with no problems.

I have uninstalled from device manager and reinstalled drivers. I have the drivers. They show up in Device manager as active an working, however when i insert a usb drive/stick i get yellow exclamation point under disk drives, and a msg in properties says cannot start device (code 10). I tried many times to uninstall and reinstall drivers. Changed sata cables and sata inputs. It's not one usb port, its the 4 upfront (2 - 2.0 and 2 - 3.0) and the available ones in the back. I do have my keyboard and mouse on usb and they work fine.

Can't think of anything else to try aside from a complete reinstall of windows. Any help in advance would be greatly appreciated!!

I have actually downloaded the 12.3 Full Version by the main site couple of months ago. Its more than 3 gigs and have burned it down on a DVD disc, nice one handy driver software package. However, its not a replacement for any manufacturing support sites. Its just a handy software if no drivers are available or supported for a particular computer or just using it offline. It is not accurate as you have to be very sure of the components listed when scanned or checked so you need to manually choose the driver needed for your computer. Only usable when there is are no drivers available on some computer system.

i have a custom built pc mobo nf4st-a9 amd processor and a ati video card that is about two years old. I just recently had to reformat my hard drive becauase of a very bad virus i got. I sucessfully reformatted my HD and found a way to install the chipset for my motherboard so a few of the devices are installed. I can get on the internet but after a couple of minutes of the computer being on it locks up before i can even attempt to install any other drivers. On top of that when i try to go and figure out exactly what video card i have the device is not shown at all. It is a Ati radeon that is about 2-3 years old. I took out the card manually and tried looking for a model number but had no sucess. is there any way for me to determine what video card i have so i can attempt to download the driver for it before my computer locks up?. But more importantly why is it that my pc is locking up?

A:need help with installing drivers

You could download and install Everest. When you run it it will make a report of your hardware. Its very accurate.

Not sure why your pc is locking up. Could be a number of reasons. Get your drivers and OS up to date. It may help.

As experts are always going on about updating drivers, I thought I'd trawl the .net and find the latest drivers for my 2 year old kit.
The first problem I found was the bewildering array of alternative specs for my simple AOpen DVD-CD ROM/AMH player. I have no identifying numbers available to me without stripping out the parts. Any tips out there. I've tried Belarc and Sandra but they just say the same as above.
On tackling the CD-RW CRW3248, I had better luck, except that the advice on the download site said NOT to install the driver in Windows but to use DOS.
This is now brain surgery.
How does one do that?

Hi George Hayes,
Is the card in the pc now??
When you put it in did 98 say there was new hardware??

First see if the drivers for your card are zipped!!
Look in the folder you put them and double click on it. If it wants to unzip , unzip them to a folder. Then go into device manager(right click My Computer, properties, device manager), find your video card and right click. Select properties. Select driver tab and reinstall driver. Have it search for a suitable driver and point it to where the unzippped driver is.

Hello, I recently formatted my pc and while setting it up, the pc asked for the windows setup cd. I couldn't find it, so I just skipped that step and went ahead with the setup, but of course the cd drivers were not installed. I've since found the missing CD and have been attempting to install the driver, with no luck (mostly because I don't know what to do). Whenever i boot up the machine it says "Primary driver 1 not found, Press F1 to continue or F2 to go to setup". The setup option, far as I can tell, doesn't give me any way to install the driver. I looked on Microsoft support and the best help they could give me was to tell me to uninstall the driver, and upon restarting it would be reinstalled. That didn't work either, so I came here for help. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello dahead mate just a quick suggestion if you have access to another machine download the driver for the LAN onto a stick and then install it from the stick to the machine you have a problem with.

For example if I am going to clean install or transfer drives I save all my drivers for that particular machine as I outlined above and then do just that. I always do this especially the WLAN LAN and Blu tooth drivers because you at very least need a net connection. Saves a lot of hassles

For any windows OS, I always hear when re-installing an OS that I might have to download the drivers again. Can anyone explain and go in depth what the drivers are and where I can download them?

thanks a bunch

A:For re-installing OS's, what are drivers?

The manufacturing support site of your computer is the direct download site. Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Gateway, etc. are some of the common sites for ready built OEM computers as motherboards are excluded since they belong to usually custom built desktops. Some or most newer OEM laptops comes with recovery discs or partition made for the particular model that includes the complete setup of pre-installed programs, drivers usually called returning to Factory Condition or System Recovery. Please post the computer brand and model next time.

I just reformatted my computer and installed Windows XP. I did the Windows Update but I do not know how to install drivers. I don't have any driver CD, or any backup, and I went to Device Manager where I saw Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, ect. and it says they are all working but I do not know how to install drivers (e.g. how do I install a sound driver from the internet so I can play music?)

Thanks

A:I need help with drivers after installing

Hi,

Windows 7 will install 99% of all the drivers you need. Do you have access to an ethernet cable? If so, insert it, then run Windows Update....it should download and install any remaining updates for your devices, including your WIFI adapter.

Try that and let us know how you get on.

A:Help on installing drivers.

Hello Katokato,
It should be straight forward to install the drivers.
When you fit the card it should automatically disable the onboard chip. If that does not happen, go in to the Bios and disable it manually.
Go to the ATI web site and download the drivers for you card and install as directed.

Hope this helps, if you need any more help, or if things don't go as planned just ask.
One thing you may want to check is your power supply, is it good enough to run the new card ?.

I went into the device manager and found that these "Other Devices" below did not get their drivers installed. I'm not sure that any of these are related to my wireless not showing up but would like to install the drivers.

Where can I find them and how can I install them?

If they are not related to wireless how can I fix that?

I just upgraded to a 64 bit OS.
I downloaded the 64 drivers from the hp website but the damn thing dont come with the software.
So i tried to use the cd to install the software but if it installs the software it HAS to install the drivers too! (32 bit, incompatable)

I just need the software to use the printer to scan something.
Is there a free software or something i can do to scan from the laserjet?

Hi,

I've been lurking here for a while and I thought it's time to join in.

Last week I got a new PC and checked the drivers which came installed. As I suspected the graphic card drivers were old. So I installed the new drivers (manually, i.e first unzipped the files into a folder) from the drivers CD which came with the system.

But I didn't uninstall the old drivers. However, the system is showing me now the new driver versions.

As from the various posts I read here, some say it's no problem if you don't uninstall the old drivers, and others say there's no way you can have a healthy install without uninstalling the old drivers.

My PC is working fine now. No problems till yet.

But was I suppose to uninstall the previous drivers prior to install the new ones ?

TIA

A:Installing new Detonator drivers

I'd say that as long as there are no problems, it doesn't matter. Newer drivers overwrite the old files and the installer deletes old registry keys and writes new ones there. Sometimes, though, something may slip through.

Hi everyone,

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and I'm having trouble installing ATI video drivers. I currently have version 9.9 installed and figured it was time to go to a newer version. I tried installing 10.9, 10.10 and even the latest 10.11 (of course 64bit version). I even tried uninstalling the 9.9 version by running the 9.9 setup and no matter which version I try I get the Program Compatibility Assistant popping up, basically saying that the program isn't running correctly. I trying running the setup while logged in as administrator, but that produced the same results. How can I install a newer version of the drivers?

Thanks!

hey new member here,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 purchased in 2005 with Windows XP Home Edition preinstalled. I added tons of pics/music over the last year because I'm abroad and that caused my system to crash. I then backed up my pics and music on an external 250GB data drive. A few days ago an IT guy from Dell walked me through a reinstall process after a complete system erase but cut me off when I told him I didn't have the driver cd. He told me to hit the Windows site and download the 'network drivers' to a flashdrive and onto my computer so I can access the internet, then from my own computer, go back to windows and reinstall the rest. This is where the problem lies. It's been guesswork; I downloaded these softwares off the site to my external drive, but don't know what to do next. I've tried opening them on my computer however an error message :: Invalid self-extractor configuration. This file may be corrupted. :: When I initially downloaded them to the usb drive, I didn't 'safely remove this device' afterwards because, well I don't know how to on a computer in Chinese (I'm in Asia). Could this be the problem?

I was told it was an easy task, any help would be seriously appreciated.

Things I have done to date :-

I uninstalled them all .. then swapped positions in my tower, still no joy, with the one USB2 Hub.

Uninstalled them all (the drivers), removed power supply from each, unplugged from the tower, then added the non working one first, all the drivers installed successfully, but still nothing will run from it.

Uninstalled it again, removed the INFCACHE.1, restarted the PC, all drivers were successfully installed but this one Hub will not recognise anything!

My Dad wanted a new laptop for his office to replace his old PC because it blew. He wanted to re-install XP on it and run his old programs, which I was told worked better with a decent GPU. I did some searching and picked a laptop with a decent graphics card and a small SSD for write-caching (ASUS S56CM), thinking it would work well. The problem was I completely forgot about Windows XP compatibility.

Here's where the nightmare started. The laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed, and the drive was formatted in a way (GPT) where installing XP wouldn't be possible without completely reformatting it. I was deliberating wiping everything and installing XP from scratch, when I realized that that there may be problems with finding the proper XP drivers. I did a few quick searches and realized there weren't any XP drivers on the ASUS website, and the GPU (GT 635M) wasn't supported by XP either.

I tried to run a virtual XP computer through VirtualBox but my dad's program was running kind of sluggishly with tons of lag because of the slow read/write speeds of the virtual comp. Furthermore, virtualbox seems to be completely unable to utilize the built-in GPU. The laptop has 2GB of VRAM, but virtualbox could only emulate 256MB.

And, of course, when I was just about to give up and return the laptop, I realized that the store where I bought it from charges a 15% restocking fee, meaning I would have to pay an extra $100 to return it.

I need some advice, shoul... Read more

A:installing XP on new laptop, no drivers?

I need some advice, should I:A) Return the laptop, lose $100, and attempt to find another new laptop that is compatible with XP.B ) Reformat everything, making the laptop un-returnable because it would mean deleting Windows 8, and install XP even though I'm lacking the right drivers, orC) Suck it up and continue using VirtualBox, because finding a new laptop that is compatible with XP is pretty much impossible nowadays? Also I'd like to add that time is a factor because my dad needs to start working again in a few days.I would first choose option B, minus the reformatting everything part. If you don't have a spare hard drive you can put in the laptop, use a USB drive (e.g. a "thumb drive") (the laptop needs to support booting to a USB drive, and there are some files you need to insert into your XP install ISO in order for it to work), and then look for drivers to try with it. Probably the only one you'll have trouble with is the GPU, but you could try the 32-bit Vista driver I suppose. It probably won't work, but at least you can find out without making the laptop unreturnable. This is the thing that annoys me the most about off-the-shelf computers, i.e., drivers tend to be harder to find if you want to install an OS that didn't come on it.

I've just done a clean install of Win 7 (w/HD format) without much problem. I've also downloaded all device drivers from my mobo manufacturer (Asus) and Nvidea video card, etc. I'd like to replace some of the Win 7 default drivers (chipset & audio for example) with the one's I've downloaded (they all contain setup.exe apps to install them).

My simple question is, can I just run the device driver setup.exe over the Win 7 default drivers, or do I need to go the each device in Device Manager and use the "Driver Update" and (I think) locate the correct .ini file or use some other method? Obviously using the set.exe is easiest, so long as there are no problems installing over the Win 7 default drivers (some of which seem to lack some of the manufacturer's device functionality). Please help! Thanks a lot, -- S

A:Installing Manufacturer Drivers

You should be able to install the drivers using the executable (exe) without messing with device manager. So go ahead, use the installer... Only if the installation fails would you do driver update. Driver update doesn't always find the best drivers for the devices.

After building a system with a second-hand EVGA 680i (with the nForce 6 chipset) and some other parts I installed Windows 7 and the nVidia drivers recommended by their website. Filling in the form led me to a file called "15.58-nforce-winvista-win7-64bit-international-whql", which I downloaded and ran. It seemed to install everything, and the system runs well enough, but when I check the system info it doesn't show all of the drivers as having been installed. Specifically, the SATA driver is not installed. Yes, the system has a SATA drive attached. There are no IDE drives in the system. Even the DVD is a SATA model. Yet the IDE driver IS installed... So, if this is the right driver package for this board, it should have installed both, shouldn't it? Or if it's not the right package, it should have given an error message and refused to install anything, right? So how did I get this weird partly installed situation? Should I run it again? Should I get something else from some other location?

Hi,

Just looking for some advice if possible. Recently got a new laptop - dell inspiron 15 r se i5 3rd gen etc (Regret my choice but you live and learn).

Anyway I'm having a lot of issues between amd radeon and intel 4000 graphics cards reverting to an old driver after I have installed the latest ones. They work as they should on installing them , i.e I can use widi, catalyst control centre etc, but every time I shutdown and reboot the system reverts to the old drivers and therefore Widi and catalyst control centre don't work.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Doing so installs the latest drivers and everything works, however when I power down and power up again the old drivers end up overriding and installing themselves. Can anyone give an explanation for this and/or help me to correct the issue? Very very frustrating. I have literally spent hours upon hours trying to sort the issue between the aforementioned drivers, widi connectivity and amd ccc.

Really appreciate any guidance

cheers

A:old drivers installing after reboot

Latest drivers from where? Dell or AMD? With switchable graphics you should be only using the drivers from the laptop manufacturer, so in your case Dell.

If you don't need to want the switchable graphics you can disable that feature in the BIOS and use only the AMD card and then you should be able to use the latest generic AMD drivers as long as Dell has not requested AMD block the installation.

In Vista I delete my audio device in device manager and reboot expecting to be able to interupt the "found new hardware" process and install drivers by running an executable from a location of my choosing but there seems to be no way to halt the process.

Yes, I know! I was stupid!

I had finally had enough of Vista and formatted and installed XP. However, it would now seem that my drivers are not on the PC after installation (as I said.. Yes, I know now that that was stupid). Am I best removing XP and reinstalling Vista. My D drive still is still the Vista recovery drive. Will reinstalling this bring back my drivers and give me the chance to download them again. I also have a Windows Vista CD that I downloaded... I have the original key that came with the PC, for Vista.

Otherwise I will need to download them on my Windows 7 PC..... As I also have no drivers for internet connections.... :-(

What am I best doing? If I am best downloading and installing the drivers..... How can I find out what drivers I need???

I know you probably get this kind of question a lot, but I would really like your help.

Thanks in advance guys and gals!

Of some reason, Windows 2000 have just stoped recognizing ANY drivers for non-plug and play devices. A few months ago, I installed drivers for a rather special ISA-card called the Catweasel. It worked fine and the drivers have worked since that time. However, some new drivers was recently released, but Windows 2000 just refuse to notice them. I've uninstalled the old drivers and even tried to reinstall the old ones (which I successfully installed a few months ago), but without success.

I've placed the drivers on a floppy and in a directory on my harddrive. But no matter what I try, Windows just complain with something like "no hardware information found at the given location" (freely translated from Swedish, yes, I'm using the Swedish edition of Windows 2000). The drivers consist of some .INF-files and .sys-files. I've even tried to right-click the .INF-files and select install, it doesn't help. I've tried typing the path manually or choosing it using the requester (add device - select hardware from list - disk available).

I've got SP3 installed as well as any security updates release since SP3. My only idea is that SP3 (which I think was installed after the Catweasel-drivers) have screwed something up.

The author of the drivers have had similar problems and had to reinstall Windows to fix it, something I'd like to avoid if possible.

Any suggestions?

A:Installing device drivers

I have a suggestion. Did you remove the Catweasel from the hardware list in Device Manager? I would remove the card completely (take it out of the machine also) and boot to Windows. Then shut down and install the card, let Windows find it and then point it to the new drivers (or old) that you have.

Hello everyone. Newbie here with a perplexing problem I'm hoping someone here can help me with. Over the holidays I purchased a Gateway NV55C laptop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium, Pentium 4, 64 bit. My printer is a Kodak 3200 Series 3-in-one. No matter what I do I can not get the printer drivers to install on the laptop. I have tried the driver installation disc that came with the printer. I have tried downloading the driver from the Kodak website. I have tried updating the drivers from Kodak and by using Windows Updater. I have checked all the USB ports on the laptop and they are working fine. Nothing has worked. The software for the printer installs without a problem but the laptop can not detect the drivers. I am stumped. The printer is currently installed on my 10 year old Gateway desktop running Windows XP and it works without a hitch. According to the Kodak website this printer should be compatible with Windows 7. Due to the advanced age of the desktop ( which works great BTW ) I really would like to get the printer to work with the laptop just in case the desktop should decide to give up and die. I have tried getting support from Gateway. Forget that! I have not heard back from Kodak. Perhaps a computer guru from here might be able to point me in the right direction. Any help you good folks could offer would be greatly appreciated.

A:Printer drivers not installing

Hello Madness and welcome to Seven Forums.

You say your Gateway is running Windows 7 64-bit. Are the drivers for the printer also 64-bit or are they 32-bit? If 32-bit that could be an issue. If the drivers are 64-bit you could try using Compatibility Mode in this tutorial and see if that helps:

Can anyone help i have been trying to install the printer drivers from the Epson website for my Epson SX 105 printer onto my windows 7 OS. The scanner and photo suite drivers went on with no problem but the printer drivers refused to install any help would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you.

A:Problem installing drivers

Generally Windows 7 will find the needed drivers through Windows Update.

Unplug your printer and completely uninstall the drivers. Plug in your printer and the "New Hardware" prompt should take care of the issue. If not, make sure you download the correct drivers...which version of Windows 7 do you have? 32bit or 64bit?

Hi. Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8... Read more

Hello,
I picked up the new game Far Cry 2 and started playing it for a bit and i was getting really weird effects in the game. Like trees turning green and red, anyway i decided to upgrade my graphics card drivers. I'm running Catalyst 8.8 and now they have 8.10 out. So i download the bundle that comes with the software and driver. I goto run the setup.exe and it opens like normal and asks for the language. I chose english and hit next and then click install. And then it pops up Catalyst Install manager has stoped working. I click close program and it closes and nothing is installed. I have installed Catalyst drivers before i dont know what could be causing this problem. I even downloaded the 8.9 version and got the same issue. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance. Specs below.

MSI k9a2 Plat v1 (bios 1.4)
AMD Phenom 9500 (2.4Ghz)
OCZ 4gig ram
ATI 3870 x2 (840/915)
250gig Seagate HDD 7200 RPM
150 gig WD 10k RPM
1000 Watt antec PSU
Vista Ultimate 64bit

A:Problem Installing ATI 8.10 Drivers

Try uninstalling the old drivers, deleting the ATI folder In "C" drive, Reboot into safe mode, go to device manager and uninstall the video card along with the driver (check the remove drivers box, if it shows up). Reboot. Install new drivers.

You might have to reboot twice before the new drivers install, that happened to me once. That's it. You may have got something messed up which is preventing you from installing the new driver in the first place.

These procedure do work on Vista 64 as I too have Ultimate64 with a 4850 card.

I'm trying to install a drive so that i can use an FTDI made cable that converts a TTL data port to a RS232 data. But i've run into trouble. when i install it it comes up in my hardware manager as a Com3 which is good but I'm lacking a com1 and an LPT1 which i assume i need. The FTDI guys say i need to check my BIOs settings to make sure my mother board ports are enabled. I'm pretty new to computers and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. First, thank you for taking the time to read this message. I'll try and add all the valuable information I can. However, if you need further information to help solve the issue, please let me know. So a few weeks ago I notice that my audio was heavily distorted (like you know that sound your laptop makes when you bump it, that sound). I downloaded Realtek audio HD driver, made sure it was up to date to help with the distortion. Well, then the volume became too low. I kept installing  Realtek audio drivers from HP, removing all realtek devices  (under Sound, Video, Game Controller in device manager), browsing for updates over the internet, etc but nothing work. Additionally, I've gone to Playback devices (under the volume icon in the task bar), selecting my speakers, going to properties, and selecting Enhancements, and selecting "Loudness Equalizer". So far that has helped a little bit. My volume now is at 100% and it sounds like it did when it was 20% (when there were no issues).  Unfortunately, I don't know how long this problem has persisted and I don't think there's a restore point before that time to try and reverse the effects. Is there any way that I can find the original driver that came with this notebook? Currently, I went to device manager>Sound, Video,Game Controller, Realtek HD Audio, update> Browse>  Let me pick>choosing the earliest driver.  Any advice would be really welcome

First, & I have to ask this ; Who would download a driver update & NOT want to install it? In other words why is'nt there an embedded command that after I've downloaded the update ,unzips & automatically INSTALLS the update? Upon instruction I have failed to install the updates . I am definitely missing something here(other than a few brain cells). Help(In plain terms)would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That's more so a programming question. In general terms, it's a safety precaution for the user to select the correct installer so problems won't occur. I hope this answers your question.

Hello Fellas,

Im having trouble installing the latest drivers for a nvidia video card, previously I was enduring by using older version, but I required a new version due a favorite game that also had a new update required, so I tried to install the latest driver 3.44.11 but it crashed in the half installation and prompts SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (nvlddmkm.sys) it doesn't generate any dump. I have to mention that I do a clean install by using DDU. Once again tried install the driver but this time in safe mode, miraculously it finished the installation but after restarting windows it crashed again this time with a minidump on it.

So any thoughts?, Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!
Add to that the release of the Win10 preview and my system messing up - and I'm way behind on replying to topics. Sorry!

Do your still need help with this problem?
