Intel RAID Driver and Configuration Software Update - Should I Install

Q: Intel RAID Driver and Configuration Software Update - Should I Install

I have an HP P6530F desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1. The HP Support program that periodically scans my computer is offering an optional update for Intel RAID Driver and Configuration Software. I have attached a screenshot of the specifics.

My computer seems to be running fine. Is this update something I should bother with?

If you're not running a RAID setup then no, leave it well alone.

I just had this driver show up in my windows update but when I got to install it I get this error:

Is anybody else having this problem? Or have any ideas how to fix it?

Hi ,

RAID and Win 7 Home Premium newbie. Short version of long story - replaced old dead RAID Drives in Win XP system with (2) new 500GB Drives plus plan to upgrade RAM to 8GB (would have liked more but $$$) and install new OS = WIN 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

MB is GA-EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1 and I am having trouble figuring out how to get, prepare and install the Intel RAID Drivers for 64 Bit Win 7 HP.

My main problem is that on the Gigabyte site they offer two RAID Drives.

A:New RAID Array and Clean Install Win7HP-Help with RAID Driver Install

The pre-install driver will allow setup to install the files correcty on the RAID array this is offered for XP only.

When you have created the RAID array in the BIOS Utility and you launch the windows 7 setup does it show the new array as a possible install location? If so there is no need for a pre-install driver (Win7 supports a variety of RAID setup out of the box).

If you do need a pre-install driver, you have not been offered one for Win7/Vista on the Manufacturers website. The only solution to this I have found is to Download "7lite/Nlite" and build the "post install" driver into the win7 image then burn a new disk (or burn to USB pen for faster install).

Hope this helps.

Hello Guys I need the experience of some of you relating to the installation of Windows 7 on a GPT partition.
My Boss  gave me a Dell Precision T5810 workstation, and for all I know it came with a factory configuration with three disks 2TB configured in RAID 5, but without Operating System.
He asked me to install Windows 7 and so I tried it but still did not succeed.  On initial installation I provided the RAID controller driver but after that  I am not allowed to do anything on the disk partition.
What I find is the following partitions:
Disk 1 Part 1 ESP 500M
Disk 1 Part 2 DIAGS 40GB
Disk 1 Part 3 OS 2 GB
Disk 1 Part 4 UNALLOCATED SPACE 3700 gb
As mentioned on any of the four partitions i can't do anything  even eliminate them,  and I get this error:
Windows can not be installed to the this. The selected disk is of the GPT Partions.
Now my doubt is Windows 7 can not be installed on GPT partitions and I have to convert force into MBR?
The Four partitions found in your opinion were created when the RAID 5 was configured?
If i have to convert to MBR i can delete all the partition in order to installa Windows?
Thanks for the GIOvanni

I got my HP Notebook - 15-r111nia late last year and want to update the graphic card driver as it is very old (10.18.10.3958) since 2013, to a newer version. I tried using the Intel Driver Update Utility to automatically update it to the newer version but it saying a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on my computer and so the download button is greyed out. I tried updating the graphics driver manually but it failed to install successfully after downlaoding on several attempts. I am soo fraustrated  now as most of my games are crashing and every recommendations i get from people is to update my graphic card. I would really appreciate anyone kind enough to help me with a link on the right graphic driver update and a work around concerning this issue.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone,

I've recently had some trouble installing a RAIDO disk configuration under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (see my 3rd reply here Help Needed....BSOD during Windows 7 Installation suspect that the drivers aren't quite Windows 7 "compatible", and are responsible for the problems.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows whether there are updated Windows 7 x64 drivers available for the Intel ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R/PO/PCH SATA RAID Controller distributed by Gigabyte? I've googled and searched the Gigabyte website, but I can't find the same files as shown on the original CDROM in the attached image.

These files are from late 2009, and I wonder if there has been an update that might fix the issues I have. This is for a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P Rev.1.0 motherboard.

Thanks,

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

I had an awful time putting Win 7 Ultimate 64 back on to a 1TB HDD that I had been using on a Gigabyte P55 board. I needed to do a fresh install on a new Z68 ASUS motherboard that now uses Intel SRT with a 120GB SSD.

(I have set up a SSD with Intel SRT before, so it did not scare me to do it again)

So the new install had to be set to RAID in the BIOS. Wiped the drive and reformatted it. But Win 7 could not "see" the HDD. It showed up in the BIOS. It was visible and accessible on another computer. But this installer screen just didn't show any hard drive. Just a big empty window. Very frustrating since I had wiped / partitioned / formatted this HDD at least 5 times.

Finally figured out that the Install screen has an option to install drivers. I put the mother board disk in the CD drive and browsed to the folder with the Intel RAID drivers. The first driver I tried didn't work, but the second one installed. I put the Win 7 Install DVD back in the drive and POOF! - the HDD was then visible and selectable and I was able to proceed with the install.

A:SOLVED: HDD not visible during Win7 install (RAID with Intel SRT)

A couple of questions to clarify:

Why was a single HD set to RAID in BIOS? And where did the SSD fit in since you didn't install the OS to it?

A:Intel Motherboard wont install RAID Drivers

The blue ones are the sil controller I believe. What driver are you attempting to load?
Have you entered the raid bios and created the array?
From your manual any drive connected to the sil controller must be in raid. Non-raid drives are not supported.

I'm trying to load a clean install of Vista 64 onto a Raptor HDD but keep getting Windows could not retrieve info about the disks on this computer error AFTER pointing it to the (64bit) driver. This is a brand new drive that I have added to my Asus P5K-E PC and Vista certainly sees it (giving me details about it, and has formatted it) even the HDD light glows. I have disconnected the other 4 drives that will be again Raid 0 pairs once I have Os on. BIOS is set to RAID.

Now I'm still confused if I need to load a RAID (SATA) driver during install (you certainly have to in XP - I load the Intel IH9CR and the JMicron E-Sata drivers from floppy) but it seemed a good idea to get the latest drivers in there... But it then doesnt see the HDD after it loads the Intel driver drive from Floppy.

I am progressing with the install WITHOUT the latest drivers, and all seems OK, but I am concerned that I've cut a corner on what is a very important performance critical editing system that I dont want to rebuild again

Any thoughts guys?

Thanks

Hi,
I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number 8.15.10.1590. So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

Windows Display Driver Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
that should be a good read....

what they mean pre-release means that these drivers are beta drivers (there is a difference between pre-release drivers and pre-release wddm 1.1 drivers)

I recently set up a new Dell 7710 Precision Workstation (Xeon E3-1535M v5 w/Intel HD Graphics P530; Nvidia Quadro M5000M; Windows 7 Pro). The Dell Precision Optimizer (DPPO) tells me there are no updates at all (no Critical, Recommended, or Optional). However, the Intel Driver Update Utility tells me I have an older chipset (14.6.1.1030) that should be replaced by a newer chipset (10.0.27). I don't know if the DPPO is taking into account particular aspects of this system that make the 14.6.1.1030 the “correct” (even if not the latest) chipset. Windows Update is not telling me I need or can update my Wireless networking, but Intel's Update Driver Utility says I should and is offering the update. How would you recommend I proceed?

A:Should I trust Intel's Driver Update utility or Windows Update?

G'day Rolo,

The difference between the two drivers is that the Windows one is digital signed/tested by Microsoft. I would say that unless the Intel one delivers more benefit than the Windows one, and everything works as expected, then there is no need to update.

You often see this with graphics card drivers too, for example.

I want to set up a raid 0 during the install for my c partition on Win 7 can this be done?

If not what I will do is install on a parition on one drive and then after I have installed set up some stripped partition and hack the registery and change the locations of the Windows folder to be on the stripped partitions after copying them of course. This is just not a very nice way of doing it.
My mobo doesn't support hardware raid so that is why I am trying to implement software raid and I have a second hardrive.

A:Can you install software raid 0 for c:?

Windows 7 doesn't much care for RAID, which is dated technology now that drive imaging is built in.

If you lose one HD, you lose everything. Better to install to one HD and back up image/files to the other.

A:Can you install Windows 7 Pro on software RAID 0?

Since it's a OS drive, you will not want to do software raid with it. You will not be able to start up Windows 7 afterwards if you do.You will need to use hardware RAID instead by either using a motherboard that supports it, or installing a RAID controller card to use. Once you install Windows 7, then you can perform a software Raid. **If you need help setting up a software Raid, please go to this link for assistance.**

Hello guys,

I need help for my new build.

from a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:

VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys

i've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software .
i always get the same behavior:

the screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self.
even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
i've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
i've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
i've tweaked onece the tdr delay to 8 second, but didnt work.

i really need some help here, i'm desperate!

A:Unable to install Intel HD graphics driver on a fresh install of WIN10

The most likely suspect is a bad video chip.

Now it could be a power related problem too, or heat, but if you have used good parts and a cool case and have tried multiple versions of the driver then it starts looking like hardware failure is likely.

Who makes your 550W power supply?

Double check all of your connections.
And you could go into the UEFI/BIOS and reset all defaults - don't do any tweaking until this problem is resolved.
Is that board running the most recent version of the BIOS?

I have seen this question being asked a few times already. I just bought 2xSamsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drives and I created a dynamic striped partition with MBR in comuter management. If I try to install win 7, after dvd boot-up, will I be able to select the partition and install windows on it ? I know all about the advantages and disadvantages of using software raid 0. But, my question is simple. Can you just install an O/S on that type of partition (will it be detectable?) or do I have to buy a "fake raid" controller or boot some type of application first to make it detectable everytime I boot up my computer ? Thank you

A:Can I install win 7 on a Software Raid 0 MBR dynamic partition

I personally would stay away from RAID & dynamic partition, as it seems to more problems than it is worth.

Hi there. I am pulling my hair out and hope someone can help me. I have an ASUS Motherboard M4A87TD EVO, got two new hard drives, and changed the BIOS settings to a RAID configuration.

After exiting BIOS, I loaded the WIN 7 (64 bit) installation disc, got thru the first few prompts of installation, and the pop up error menu shows up. " NO SIGNED DRIVER FOUND, PLEASE INSERT CD/DVD/ FLOPPY, bla bla bla ", and my RAID configuration does not appear in the box as a hard drive for Windows to be installed into.

After researching on the web and contacting ASUS, I still don't understand. From what I can gather, it is a driver that will make THE INSTALLATION PROCESS RECOGNIZE MY RAID configuration. Apparently, it must be downloaded onto a thumbdrive and installed
"during" the Windows installation.

Now...WHAT DRIVER??? WHERE??? WHO??? WHAT?? HOW?? Is it specific to this type of installation, or manufacturer specific? Asus or Windows? A third party??

Sorry, I am so aggravated. Please help.

Thanks

So the Intel HD driver for the W540 - and all Optimus laptops from this generation - is 10.18.15.4256. It was released by Intel in August 2015, and it is so old that it still lists the current Win10 build as an Insider one. (Not even mentioning the Nvidia driver, which is also several months out of date). Meanwhile, the Intel-only laptops with the same GPU, such as the T440s or T540p, are on version 20.19.15.4416, released by Intel in March 2016. This driver is miles ahead of the Optimus T540ps and W540/1s. Will we ever see an update?

I currently have a driver dated 5/2/14 for the Intel 82579V adapter. When I run the Intel utility it reports it's outdated and installs the latest one (v20.1) dated June 2015, but after install and upon checking Device Manager I see that the old driver was not updated. Any way to clean install the new driver? Thanks

A:Unable to update Intel LAN driver

That would be because there is not a new one. The driver is only updated if there are security flaws, or changes in removing outdated code.

Those driver packages, actually cover a wide range in that chip series.

I recently used Intel's website to update a graphics driver. After I did this I noticed that my screen would blink every 2 or 3 seconds. I did not think much about it until I took the Laptop to work the next day and this blinking thing did not happen. I then tried it again at home and it started blinking again. I use a Verizon hot spot at home and use AT&T(wireless also) at work. Any idea what could cause this?

A:Intel Driver update issue.

The driver installed from Intel could possibly be the culprit. Look for the correct video driver from your laptop manufacturing support site.

I downloaded and ran the Intel (R) Driver Update Utility on my ASUS X54C Laptop which is running Win 8.1

I found it at: Intel« Driver Update Utility

I ran the utility and the utility found two updates which I downloaded as per the screenshot below.

My questions are

(1) .. should I install these two updates?
(2) .. is there any risk in installing the updates?

I should mention that I have not had any problems with my laptop and am wondering if I should leave well alone?

A:Intel (R) Driver Update Utility

The Intel driver update utility is safe. These are Generic drivers though, if your not experiencing any problems there's no need to download them if your X54C came with windows 8. The version changes are minimal the chipset for example is for newer hardware(the x54c is at least 3 years old) and the HD graphic are changes for specific video games/screen hardware. Because they are generic drivers provided from Intel and have not been cleared through ASUS there is always a minimal(however small) possibility that it might cause problems and have to roll back which is easy(happened to me once). Best is to go here and see if there are any updates.

When I run the subject program (have latest version - 2.4), the scan tells me my graphics driver (for Win 7, 64-bit) is currently version 10.18.10.4358 and that a newer version, 15.33.42.4385, is available. I click the [Download] button, and it downloads a 124MB file. Then the [Install} button lights up. I click it, it goes thru the motions, but when it finally starts installing, it says it's installing ver. 10.18.10.4358 ! And sure enough, after the install finishes and I reboot the computer, when I do another scan it says I have version 10.18.10.4358 and 15.33.42.4358 is an available update.

What's wrong?

I have recently bought 2 1Tb Western Digital SATA III 6 Gb HDDs.
The idea being, that I would Install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit via the onboard Marvell controller in Raid 0.
I have not even got past the Collecting Information part of install, because no matter what Driver I try to load, Windows refuses the drivers because it says they are unsigned.
It tells me to load 32bit and 64bit signed drivers but I've tried every Marvell Raid driver I can find including ones from ASUS site.
Says the same every time and I either need to be told what I'm doing wrong or a driver set that works or a way of getting round the problem.
I have tried loading from Floppy and flash drive.
Might it be possible to install without the Raid drivers and add them after install, probably a stupid question but I'm amazed what some people can do sometimes.
I have the latest BIOS so that I can run with my new Phenom II x 6.
The raid array shows up fine in BIOS and shows as Disk 0 Partition 2 1861.9 GB Primary during install.

Version 5.0.2.1002 has been released and can be downloaded from here.

Make sure that your Intel chipset is among the list of supported ones before installing the update.

Once the install is complete, you can verify its install by going into the registry at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - Software - Intel - Infinst.

The new version number should appear, along with showing the install to be successful.

I have an Acer Aspire 5745 and it has Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I have Intel HD Graphics version 8.15.10.2104. I tried to install it but it says "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer".
So I decided to update my driver through device manager and I asked it to update from the folder where I had extracted the driver downloaded from Acer's site. But it says that your driver is up-to-date (it surely isn't).
Please help me, I need to update this driver for smooth gameplay.....

Have you tried the 64 bit version that Acer says is for your specific model? Many times drivers are for both 32 and 64 bit OS. You can also try the Intel site for your Intel chipset.

Proper game play isn't just the video driver. The PC must meet (usually exceed) all the other requirements of the game.

I don't have Java on my laptop and the only way to fix the 'USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller intel WiUSB driver' is to use the Intel Driver update utility.

I don't want to install Java just for this one problem.

Thanks

A:Intel« Driver Update Utility - Run without java?

You don't need to use that Intel Utility at all. Just download the correct driver(s) and do it manually.

I have never used that utility, and every Laptop/PC I've ever owned has had Intel CPUs, chipsets and sometimes Graphics, Networks cards etc.

Are there any risks I should be aware of before I run, and install, drivers that need updating as per the results of running the INTEL driver update tool. I have created a restore point?

Nothing bad can happen.
You can always roll back changes in device manager if driver won't work.

Where did you get this tool? do you have a link?

I upgraded both my desktop and laptop to Windows 10 recently. The desktop's upgrade went smoothly; NVIDIA already has Windows 10-compatible drivers. However, my laptop with Intel HD Graphics is a different story. I've tried the Dell-certified drivers as well as the latest ones directly from Intel, and neither work.

When I attempt to install the driver, I get an error message stating "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."

Any help is appreciated!

Hey guys, I am/was having a BSOD when using my Alienware laptop on battery power. I posted about that in the BSOD thread and they recommended that I use an uninstaller for my nvidia video driver and reinstall the new driver clean, so I did.

After the reinstall there weren't anymore bluescreens but I noticed my screen "dim" option was darkened out when I clicked on my power icon (on my tool bar). The option is also missing from my power options menu. So I googled that problem and it said to reinstall my intel video driver... I then download the new/updated driver from the Dell site by entering my model number, etc, and tried installing it but it keeps saying that my computer does not meet the requirements to install the driver. There seems to be issues with installing intel graphics drivers and its pretty wide spread...

I tried several different techniques for installing the driver, including trying to unzip the file and "update" my driver from device manager. In device manager there is no intel graphics driver listed under display adapters for me to click on and update.

So... any advice at this point would be greatly appreciated.

I did find this here(but its for windows 8 and not completely relevant to my situation):

Windows Update has downloaded an item "Intel Corporation Driver Update for Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600" Published 28 July 2016.  It is listed as an important update,  but it will not install, after around 8 attempts. Windows Update gives the message "Code 80070103 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."  and there is no support info. I am using an HP L1950g monitor (1280 x 1024 pixels), connected through the VGA cable. Do I need this update? If Yes, how can I get it to install? If No,  how can I delete it from my system? Thank you !

I have a Dell Xps/410 computer with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it and I have been somewhat puzzled as to where to place the Intel Viiv Processor driver when performing a clean install. On my system the correct order for the drivers are chipset, video, audio and network. So, in order to gain the most performance from the system where would you install the Viiv driver? I don't seem to be getting all the my processor has to offer which is an Intel E6600 2.4GHz. processor. My system's bios has been updated also to the latest update. Can someone please shed some light on this topic. I would be thankful for any help I can get. At one time I was told that its best to place the Intel viiv driver right after the chipset driver or would it be best after the video driver? Thank you.

I would install it any time after the chipset

How do I actually update the driver for this? I have win 8.1 and task manager says IAStorSataSvc (32 bit) (intel rapid storage technology) is using 277.8 MB of memory (it was over 1,000 last night) and .4% of the CPU.  My version is 11.50.1207 and forums indicate this version eats a lot of memory and the driver should be updated.  How do I do that?  There are two versions that can be downloaded,  f6flpy-x86.zip - for 32-bit versions of the operating system and f6flpy-x64.zip - for 64-bit versions of the operating system.  Win 8.1 is 64 bit and the IRST says it is 32 bit, so which one do I use?  Once I have the right one dowloaded, it is a zip folder with 6 files.  How do i update the driver, double click on one of the .sys files, the largest one (there are two, one smaller than the other)?

A:How to update intel rapid storage technology driver

The floppy version is used during a new install of Windows. Do you have a SSD and a regular HDD? You can download the full Install here.

After a sudden overnight update to Windows 10 the machine started to freeze and crash - mostly while the mouse cursor moves or dialog opens or other display changes happen quickly. I figure I should update the graphics card, which is listed as Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 My Envy 4 machine runs a 64-bit system on core i3 2376 CPU @1.4Ghz For that machine, the Intel website will not give an option for a Windows 10 update. The driver version is wayyyyy behind: version 9.17.10.4229 Current version update is for Windows 8 for that graphic card. It is here:https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81500/Intel-HD-Graphics-3000-for-2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-...The version there is listed as 15.28.24.64.4229 which is signed to a year ago, with a slightly lower version number released 2/2016 (16 months ago). It is only given as an .exe package which will not install because of spec incompatibility. Can I get the Win8 driver for the Win10 machine? If this makes sense where can I get the file itself and how to do this? TIA Yuval

According to the link (footnote 2) that cards drivers were only supported in "legacy mode" (compatibility) even in win 8.1. It may do the same in win 10 and the only way to find it is to try it

To install in compatibility mode do the following:

Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

I'd like to update my integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver, but the Intel Driver Update Utility is showing two different drivers, one says Intel Graphics Driver, and the other says Intel HD Graphics Driver.

Why is it showing two different drivers and which one, or both, should I install?

A:Intel Driver Update Utility showing two different drivers

Hi MW,
Depends on your graphics card, with or without HD,
note1 these are generic drivers if you have an OEM install, use the ones from them, unless your having a problem.
note2 if your specs are correct then use your >>Nvidea<< control panel

The Intel Driver Update Utility can be downloaded from Intel's support website. It provides an easy way to find the latest drivers for various Intel chipsets, graphics cards, wireless cards, desktop boards, Intel NUC mini PCs or the Intel Compute Stick.
The vulnerability stems from the tool using unencrypted HTTP connections to check for driver updates...
Read more here and if you use this tool, update to v2.4 before using it again.

Hi

Can you provide the full model name of your Satellite M200 notebook?
From where did you try to download this driver and for what system?

It does not look like Satellite M200 would be a European notebook model. It looks like it was released for Asia market.
Furthermore I think that this error message appears because the corrupt driver package. Maybe some files (or just the info file) are faulty

So yesterday automatic Windows update installed IE10, today I noticed that links in certain applications open in IE10 instead of my configured default browser, which every link from this or any other application used to open in before that update and the reboot that followed the update.
I checked the Default Programs section in the system control panel, expecting maybe Microsoft wanted to get themselves in any more trouble with the EU and changing the default to IE. This was not the case however, all the associations were still pointing to the configured default browser, I noticed however I could not uncheck the defaults already set.
So despite the obvious configuration being correct, links would still open in IE10 even after yet another reboot.
I went ahead and checked the registry associations, and found that http(s) protocol as well as htm(l) filetypes were associated with Internet Explorer with various EditFlags set (presumably to prevent changing them through the user interface, or to ignore the user interface settings).

Seriously Microsoft? Don't you have enough trouble yet?

I'd avoid IE10 and uninstall the update. It's riddled with bugs.
