Windows refuses to install/run Mini Partition Wizard software ...

Q: Windows refuses to install/run Mini Partition Wizard software ...

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I have tried to install the Mini Partition Wizard of the Home Edition developed by MT Solution LTD

The download completed, when trying to install it in either the Program Files path and also on the Progran Files (x86) I get the same frustrating result in both.
The download came from a reputable webpage Free Partition Magic alternative. Free Partition Manager Software for Windows 7/VISTA/XP/2000 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2000.

It says the the Wizard has stopped working it never opens to show my disks details
The message i get in the details is attached as follows:

What should I do to get Mini partition Wizard to recognize and show me the Hard Drive Disks?
Any comments.. suggestions..recommendations explanations would be much appreciated.

Thank you kindly

A: Windows refuses to install/run Mini Partition Wizard software ...

You'd do better to create a bootable CD rather than install and run Partition Wizard from your hard drive.

With a bootable disc, you can create and edit partitions without hindrance as you'll be booting into Partition Wizard rather than Windows.

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition.

I have a fresh formated drive on my HP15-f233wm Windows 10 Laptop (4gb RAM) and I would like to resize my Partition as I have on my other PCs. I like 100GB for the (c Drive) and the remainder 299GB seperate for storage. Using Mini Partition Wizard Pro I resize it and oof course it needs to restart as the files are in use. When it restarts I get "your pc ran into some problems and needs to restart" Error
The reason I have a fresh format on it is because I had this error before so I thought a Refrsh copy of Windows might help. It did not
It goes thru its start-up repair and I'm back in business.
I am attaching some Pics
"A" is the original before dping anythng
"B" is how I set it to rezize, the upper number changed to 348gb
"C" is how it is before I click "Apply"
SORRY SO LONG!
Any deas?

Thank You In Advance!

I have a 2Tb portable WD harddrive that suddenly stopped being able to save data (even though I was playing music from it) and is now completely inaccessible - I get the typical 'disc needs formatting' message; check for errors can't access the disc and changing the drive letter does nothing.
Thankfully ZAR can detect my files and original names although many are unverified. What I really want however is to try and recover my entire drive rather than extract each file to a new drive.
So I followed all the advice in this excellent thread:
Disk structure is corrupt and unreadable
and I'm at this odd point with Mini Tool Partition Wizard where it seems to be continually looping through the same action. The dialogue window just says "Inserting an index entry into of $0 of file 25" over and over and over. It adds a new entry every second and just keeps going. Been almost an hour now;

So my question is - I can't let it run forever so how can I kill this process?
Also what is going on and what should be my best step? I'll probably run Test Disc next.
Thanks
Steve

Hello and welcome Riddley mate two things you can do is run these if you have not already
SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

Disk Check > use the /f and /r switches if you need to

I know you may think this is the ruddy obvious but give them a go. If it comes to retrieving data anyway then there are the Linux Mine MATE and Ubuntu bootable disks that can do that independent of Windows

A:setup refuses to install win 7 on any partition.

First of all, create a windows 10 recovery media, so you will be able to factory reset and revert to windows 10 in the worst case. then you need to set BIOS to Launch CSM/Legacy to be able to boot from a windows 7 installation media:http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27071/~/how-to-enable-or-disable-secure-boot and since windows 10 uses GPT partitions, windows 7 is not able to install on them, so you need to wipe completly your HDD/SSD prior to install it. at windows 7 language/keyboard selection, press shift+F10, it will open a command promptthentypediskpartthen on diskpart typelist disktake note of the correct disk ID to erasetypeselect disk x(x is the ID of your HDD to erase)typecleanyour HDD will be erased completly type exit then continue with your installation

So, the story is this. Was given a HP Mini 210-1018TU PC. The hard drive had failed and the friend just wanted to upgrade to a beefier laptop.

Next, I checked the bottom of the case & no MS sticker? I take out the battery thinking it's in the compartment, nope....I contact HP & they offer to send me the recovery CD's. Great!

I get them, open the case to put the new drive in-- there's the product key sticker! Anyway, install them- all good. Except now my system time will not stay set. I'm not sure if this is the only issue- but it seems to also be preventing me from installing SP1?

If I set the time in BIOS & save, when I get to the desktop, it always shows 24/07/2010.

If I set the time while in Windows & restart, it will always show 01/01/2008?

I've tried it with & without time synced (the sync does work because I can click "update" & it successfully updates). I have replaced the coin battery with a new, known working battery.

Also ran chkdsk /f & sfc/scannow. No issues reported.

The bit about issues with installing SP1 to a replaced hard drive is a known problem on Google- but no real fixes.

Not sure what to do from here? I had hoped to upgrade it to Win 10-- but now will miss the freebie window because of this (been working on it for a few weeks now).

Ideas?

I have a Dlink Cloud surveillance camera. The software that came with it to set it up won't run on my laptop running WINXP. I get an I/0 device error. However, I know the CD drive works because I can run my other CD's on it. What's up with this? How can I get this software to install and run?

A:Why won't Dlink DCS930l Software Wizard CD install?

The I/O device error is most likely letting you know the software or drivers are not compatible with XP, not a problem reading the disc. Is the software made to run on XP? XP is pretty old and the software may not work on it.Edit, It looks like most of their products work with XP but check your specs anyway. Also you need yo have IE7 installed so if your still using IE6, you need to upgrade.message edited by THX 1138

As many of you know, there are moments when you are attempting to download something and there ends up being some pesky pop-up window that blocks you from obtaining the item you are after. If you have managed to figure out how to use the inspect element feature on your computer, then you are aware that there are routes around that pop-up that so annoyingly blocks you. My question is kind of along those same lines. If I have downloaded an app/software/program's install wizard and installed that app/software just to confront a similar blockade, then is there a similar tactic like using the inspect element feature or maybe even another suggested app/software/program (that doesn't have or end up similar as to what I have described) that I am able to use and to conduct an inspection on an app/software/program's install wizard's elements to remove that unwanted portion of the install? Therefore, ultimately only installing the intended downloaded app/software/program. Make sense?

I installed a new hard drive twice the size (750GB v 320GB) of the old one. I have Windows 7 64bit on the primary partition and Windows Vista on a secondary partition in order to run some old 32bit programs. I tried to expand the existing partitions to take advantage of the nearly 400GB of unallocated space. Performing this operation in Disk Management from the primary partition, I clicked on the partition I wanted to expand. I should then be able to click on the ?Extend Volume? option to extend into the unallocated space. However, the Extend Volume option is grayed out ? I can?t click it.

What gives?

Hi!
I just tried the tool mentioned above to resize my partitions.
I'm running W7x64 on a SATA drive and XP on IDE, so I can startup both depending on which disk I set as boot disk in my BIOS.

So far things were running fine but ever since I tried to resize my Win7 partition to have more room for my storage partition (same physical drive), my Win7 keeps rebooting.
I see the normal boot screen and after a while, the PC restarts.

I tried the repair console to no avail - the assistant claims it couldn't restore anything, it doesn't even show me any restore points (which I know do exist).
The actual Win7 partition seems OK though as I can access most folders when I boot in XP.

What somehow puzzles me is the drive layout.
It says
D: System Storage: Active: Primary
E: Win 7: None: Primary
G: Storage: None: Primary
Plus my XP partition which works fine.
I tried to set E active but it was set to status None automatically after the next unsuccessul reboot.
But shouldn't D and E drive letters be the other way around?
Or even worse, shouldn't Win be E, Storage F and System Storage G?

Oh, booting from my Win7 DVD and trying the repair install option didn't work either.

Did a chkdsk and everything on my Win7 partition but it found no errors.

Any ideas how to fix this mess?

Cheers.

A:Minitool Partition Wizard killed my Windows

Hello sordid, welcome to Seven Forums!

Try this.

Disconnect all HDDs except the one with Windows 7 on and connect that to the #1 SATA port of the motherboard and set it as the second boot device after the CD/DVD drive.

First have a look at Option Two to see how to use diskpart to mark the Windows 7 partition as Active and do the 3 separate startup repairs with the separate restarts outlined in the main body of the tutorial to (re)create boot files to the Windows 7 partition.

Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

I'm trying to recover my partition table using MniniTool Partition Wizard. I tried running the Partition Recover Wizard which listed the 2 partitions on my disk i.e. ACER and SYSTEM RESERVED. It also listed the hidden PQSERVICE partition which comes with factory settings. The ACER and PQSERVICE partitions are listed as "Lost/Deleted" and SYSTEM RESERVED is "Existing".

However when I try to select all these partitions so I can recover and keep them all, the status of SYSTEM RESERVED changes from "Existing" to "Overlapped" and I can't select it anymore. When I move to the next step it tells me that it'll have to delete the SYSTEM RESERVED partition.

I don't know if i should go ahead and do so. or if it will just make things worse. What should I do?

Windows 7 was the OS that came installed on the computer? Are your Windows 7 install disks 32bit? If the drive was converted to GPT Windows 7 32bit cannot be be installed to the disk and it must be wiped.

If not 32bit then do a clean install per this guide. You should first delete all existing partitions.

I am trying to reduce the partition of D drive on a laptop in order to increase the size of the C drive. In Win 7 Computer Management the D Drive is shown as 98% empty.
I booted from the Partition Wizard CD I made and found that in PW06 the drive was shown as 100% full and was unable to reduce the size. I then made a new PW07 CD and tried again with the same result .

I can load a large file to the D drive without any problems so there is still lots of room to enable the size adjustment.

The laptop manufacturer, Fujitsu, says the HD is not protected in any way and do not know why it should show as full.

Can anyone shed any light on what the cause and remedy might be?

Many thanks

to make the system reserved larger or delete it and make the C partition active,

Want to created (1) primary partition and (3) extended/logical partitions but XP
only gives the option to create 1 single extended/logical partitions on the disc after making the first primary partition. After this is made, it want to force primary's.

With still much space left, I want to create the remainder in logical partitions - do I
need a third party solution to do this? Should I have created a single extended partition that includes all space outside of the Primary partition and they divided up the extended partition into logical drives?

Hi Aaron and welcome to the forum,

First of all, if you got the WD drive to work fine on your friends machine, then it will not work on your machine about 90 % of the time. What happens is that the drive is looking for his motherboard and not yours so you get blanko junk or nothing.

Just to make sure you have it set up right, if using a WD as a single (no other drive on the cable) drive, then put it on the end of the ribbon cable and take the jumpers off.

If there is something else on that IDE #1, then make the other drive a slave (middle connector = Grey color) and make the WD set as Master with the jumpers (on end of cable = Black color) set as Master according to the diagram on the top of the drive.

Also, I am assuming that you now want to put XP on the computer and not Win98 (a different process, so if I am incorrect about what you want to do, write back and I will give different instructions.)

Now, if you can boot into the BIOS setup menu (usually del key), make sure your boot order is set to:

CDRom
Floppy
Hard Disk you wish to boot from

Don't forget to save before you exit.

Put your CD in the CDRom drive and boot up

When the disk comes up, Select install (even if it says you would overwirte the other copy on the disk), and then let it format if it asks that. Then install and it should go. When loaded, don't forget to load your chipset drivers first from the motherboard CD.

Suddenly, the Acronis program I used to always use for partition copy, won't detect my USB mouse and KB. So, I'm having to do it with Partition Wizard 7. I've never used that to move a system partition, are there any issues doing it that way? The only other program I used to use for this kind of Op is paragon partition manager, which the version I have is not compatible with 8.

I don't like doing it this way, it's very slow compared to using the Acronis program, which seems to fly fast. Anyone have problems doing it like this?

A:Moving my Media PC partition using Partition Wizard 7

I had a few problems with this - First off, as well as taking almost 4 hours to copy 500 GB, I could not BOOT to 8! I went in to my Windows 7 and tried to use the Boot manager in Yamicsoft to set my Windows 8 drive as the default boot - But It kept telling me it could not find my system files.

I put my install disk in, and tried an automatic repair, and THAT did not find anything. So I went into Command Prompt from the Install Disk, and ran BootRec, which found my Windows 8 installation, and added it back in.

But it STILL would not start the boot sequence, it would stay on the flashing cursor. But I was able to boot to Windows 8 using Hiren's Boot CD version 13, which has the Windows XP/Vista/7 Bootloader. THAT got me into Windows 8. All versions of Hiren's after 13 have that removed for some reason, which is why I keep that older disk around.

From there, I used the Yamicsoft Windows 8 Manager Boot Manager, and I was able to choose Windows 8 as the default boot drive and OS, set the 750 GB Drive as the default drive and while I was there I switched it to Legacy Mode.

My default Font had changed to Tahoma or something, so that was easy to switch back, I restored the default font settings via control panel.

When I booted to the hard drive, it booted to the legacy Boot Choice Menu, and I got right in.

So: I have a 320 GB Drive with Windows 7 on an IDE bus, and a 1 TB storage drive and my new seagate 750 GB Hybrid drive both on the Sata bus - Because of that IDE drive, the ... Read more

Hello gentlemen. I'm trying to figure out what a couple of small partitions are on my secondary HD.I want to reclaim them I guess, but I'm not sure how to do so.I wrote the questions right on the screenshot. Here it is Thank you

A:MiniTool Partition Wizard Pro, Partition questions

Did the secondary drive have a OS on it before? You have a 101MB unallocated partition at the beginning. EXT4 is a linux file system. If this is a basic data disk and nothing else like a NAS box  I would do the following steps. Remember, any partition manipulation can go wrong so you should back up any important data that you cannot afford to lose.

Because the drive has roughly 300GB of data, the operation will take awhile. All steps are done virtually. When all steps are done click apply and partition wizard will do each step.

Click the D: partition and select Move/Resize. Drag the partition to the far left. This will place the 101MB ahead of D:

Click on the EXT4 partition and select delete. Only delete if you know you will not need it. From your image, there is data on the EXT4 partition. This can only be read using a live linux CD. You should boot a linux distro and see what data in on the EXT4 partition before you delete it. If you decide to keep it, move it to the far right (end of drive) by clicking it and selecting Move/Resize. Click on the partition bar and left click drag the partition to the far right. This will give you 101MB + 16GB of unallocatted space after D; which you have moved to the far left (beginning of drive) and before the EXT4 partition

After EXT4 is deleted you will now have 101MB+31.8GB+16GB of total unallocated space showing after D: 101MB + 16GB total if you decided not to delete EXT4.

Click D: and select Mov... Read more

I just got my first 3TB (> 2TB) HD.
I initialized it as a GPT Disk in Windows Disk Management (DM).
I created the partition in MiniTool Partition Wizard (PW).
Seeing a difference in DM and PW,
I cleaned the disk and then re-initialized and created the partition in DM.

If the partition is created in DM or PW, I get the same results.
See screen prints below.

PW it shows a 128 MB "GPT (Reserved Partition)".
DM does not show this partition.
Is that normal/expected ?
Why does PW show a partition that DM doesn't see ?
I'm wondering if this is a potential issue and I should re-initialize this HD as MBR ???

I'd like to have 1 partition if it's reliable, but 2 smaller partitions is not a problem for me.
I don't want to run into some "Gotcha" years later where I lose everything ...
There is no data on this HD that matters, I can recover anything on every device ...
This HD will be used for "Offline Backup", and not normally "Online/Connected".

If you initialise a >2TB disk as an MBR disk, you can only access the first 2TB of that drive. You can as well by a 2TB drive.

I have seen this question being asked a few times already. I just bought 2xSamsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drives and I created a dynamic striped partition with MBR in comuter management. If I try to install win 7, after dvd boot-up, will I be able to select the partition and install windows on it ? I know all about the advantages and disadvantages of using software raid 0. But, my question is simple. Can you just install an O/S on that type of partition (will it be detectable?) or do I have to buy a "fake raid" controller or boot some type of application first to make it detectable everytime I boot up my computer ? Thank you

A:Can I install win 7 on a Software Raid 0 MBR dynamic partition

I personally would stay away from RAID & dynamic partition, as it seems to more problems than it is worth.

I've had windows 7 64 on my system for the last 6 or 7 years? However long it's been out and it's been completely fine.

I moved everything over to a Samsung 840 Evo about a year ago and everything was great.

I moved everything over to a Saumsung 850 Pro about 6 months ago and my system has crashed literally about 10 times at this point. I have used Samsung's Secure Erase to reset the SSD every time before a new install.

Everything will work fine for X amount of days, weeks etc until Windows does some kind of automatic update and crashes my computer, it will not reboot, it will not repair. I will attach a pic of what it does during this problem, running lines and lines of the following code in the attached pic.

Now trying to reinstall windows AGAIN, it completely REFUSES to do so - and I have 2 SSD's I'm trying this on and getting the exact same 0x80070057 error code.

I've deleted the partitions, created new ones and still getting this error code on BOTH SSDs. I've tried this step 5 times. It will not install.

What is the problem and is there any way to fix this? I don't understand why windows has been constantly crashing these last few months, but it has completely pushed me away from wanting to use it at all.

**Summary
Whenever I try to install anything from games to anti-virus' I get an error 1335 data1.cab corrupt.
Tried everything I could think of and still no luck, please help!

All right,, I'll try to be as detailed as possible.

My PC was broken. I sent it in to a PC Tech who thought they fixed it but
sent it back the same way. (Problem was it kept rebooting on its own)
I did some research and found out the little beeps when the PC crashed actually meant something so I pinpointed my problem to bad RAM and bought a 1gb ram card and installed it and restored PC to original settings. I reinstalled windows and everything.
Everything was running perfect. I was able to install and everything.
Then all of a sudden I started getting errors

First MSN kept giving me the ever-annoying "Send error report" message as soon as i logged in. So I reinstalled MSN and it worked slightly better.

Then I was installing something else and I got an 'error 1335 data1.cab corrupt'
I click ignore and it comes up to an internal 2350 error
[which led me to Microsoft support. They said to reinstall windows installer, I installed and it didn't help]
I figured it had to be the file was messed up so I re-DLed and still couldn't install. I tried several other programs and nothing will install. I tried DLing a game and upon the installation failing I got this report.

A:Windows REFUSES to install!! (ANYTHING) error 1335

Hi, FliiP. Welcome to TSF.

I'm not sure if you've ever noticed, but inside your windows xp disc, there's lots and lots of file that help it operate correctly, one of which is the .cab files, these are essential and shouldn't be overlooked, and will NOT be when installing, so they're definitely not just "missing". You would have had to deleted them or spyware could happen to be a friend of yours you never knew you even had.

I could be wrong, but I believe the .cab files do exist and aren't just in the disc itself, but it seems to me that they would be.

Just reinstall XP, that'll get rid of anything that may harm your computer and give you a clean slate, at the risk of losing all your music, pictures, videos, documents.

Good luck. If you have any more questions or comments, post them!

PS.
A word to everyone else - Do the .cab files exist in the actual install or do they only exist in the XP disc, itself?

So I'm trying to install Windows 7 via XP SP2 but every time I try it gets to the expanding files part(27%) and cancels the whole installation saying Windows could not prepare the computer too boot into the next phase. I ran a chkdsk scan on the drive and unplugged all USB devices and some people said that Windows couldn't find the HDD Controllers so I installed my chipset drivers too but still nothing.
I can't really format these partitions(especially C: since I need the XP installation on it to install Win 7)
What could be cause of this? Can a damaged or missing bootsector(or bootmgr) be to blame?

Hi,

I've been having a number of different problems with installing newer huawei 3g modems on windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. Initally the problem surrounded the driver ewusbnet.sys which, when windows 7 attempted to install it, would summon a BSOD. That particular problem was cast out by newer drivers only to reveal a fault with ewusbwwan.sys which shows in device manager as "huawei mobile connect - 3g network card" & gives a Code 10 and another unnamed driver, which is referred to in device manager as simply "Huawei Mobile" handing in a Code 28.

I have the most up to date huawei 3g modem windows drivers I can find anywhere 4.25.11.00 In the case of the ewusbwwan.sys the driver version is 6.0.1.318 with hardware ids:

USB\VID_12D1&PID_1436&REV_0000&MI_01
USB\VID_12D1&PID_1436&MI_01

the other unknown driver has hardware ids of

USB\VID_12D1&PID_1436&REV_0000&MI_04
USB\VID_12D1&PID_1436&MI_04

Since I was getting BSODs with the ewusbnet.sys I've taken to using virtual machines to try and get the device(s) installed. I've tried two different win7 ultimate 32 bit builds. On these there is no virus protection software, I've tried disabling windows defender and windows firewall. I've tried different compatibility settings as these devices have no problem working on either xp or vista. I've tried installing in safe mode. I've ried all these at th same time. Samebody else can say it better, but I have always experienced in threads that Huawei drivers cause BSODs. The driver updates are also not available. So apparently there is no way to use a Huawei dongle without suffering BSODs.

Hello and Welcome -There are quite a few topics on the same subject all around Google - None with good answers -Most of them have the same problems that you have, and this dates back about 2 years generally. The general opinion is to refer this back to the retail outlet or in your case, Telstra I would assume.Vodaphone was very bad for these devices, but they were very bad for most problems - Apart from asking here, you seem to have done about all that I would in the same circumstances. I use an earlier version Huawei (linked to Optus) on my Win7 Toshiba laptop, that I have used for about 3 years, and it gives fairly good reception in "almost" all areas, and none of the problems you list  - Have you contacted anyone else about this problem, and have you been given any other answers, or ideas yet ??Huawei Support links on this page What Make and Model computer is this ? I've been searching over the internet and I have read things about dpi, but that's 100% in my case and so no problem. I've updated my nvidia graphic's card. I've tried to use a windows 7 fixing tool, no good result.

I'm using an external LED screen with a resolution of 1920x1080. I don't know why it suddenly had this problem... but even without this external screen, the problem shows up

I've included a screenshot of my gta 4 installing wizard (and it's not just with this installing wizard, but also java, adobe pdf...)... Hopefully the image tells you more than what I've been explaining...

thanks anyways for all your replies,

I installed Windows XP the normal way but after installing Windows XP, usually the first run will have a wizard asking me to set up my computer for the first time, asking me to create a user account, set up settings, etc. Except that wizard never showed up. After Windows XP was done installing, it took me straight to the desktop under the default administrator account. I Googled the problem but nothing of this kind showed up. the only thing that had "first start" in the name on Google was an unrelated Windows 95 virtualbox result. everything else was junk. This is a weird problem because Google doesn't even know about it.

I've been trying to install windows XP. The setup starts in text mode, but when should show the "to setup windows xp now, press enter", before the EULA screen, it locks. More specifically in the black screen after loading files.
I don't know what to do because it only has 512mb of ram and an 8GB IDE SSD.
It seems to work properly, because i've tested the ram and ssd and are fine. Also, the computer boots from a Linux liveCD just fine.
What can I do?

It was recommended to use the free Partition Wizard to Move/Resize a partition for Win7.

This is what I have now:
C drive = 200 gb
D drive = 50 gb
E drive = 50 gb

What I want to do is take 150 gb from drive C and add it to drive E. I realize it is going to take two operations to do this. First C drive must be resize to 50 gb which creates unallocate to 150 gb. Then I have to resize E drive to 200 gb by using the 150 gb of the unallocated space.

I followed the tutorial for PW by opening PW and selecting C drive, this activated the Menues so I could select Move/Resize Partion from a couple of places. This opened the following window:

That shows that I am using Enhanced Data Protecting Mode.

All I should have to do is change the "Unallocate Space After", which shows as active, however it will not allow me to go from 0.00 MB to the 150000.00 that I want.

Hope someone can shed some light on this.

Thanks

I've been reading most of the threads here regarding Partition Wizard and grabbing applicable data as I go. It is a bit of a guess and go and I decided to risk asking a dumb question.
I've got a new 500 GB dive and Win7 Pro disk on my table, waiting.
I'm currently using XP Pro, 4 partitions and using PW.
I would like to do a dual boot set up but do not know which first, install the drive and partition it (under XP) or do I install the hd and boot with the Win7 install disk and then make the required partitions after Win7 up and running? Should I use Win7 to make the partitions or PW?
If a similar thread covers this situation plse mention and you are rid of me
If not, any tips or suggestions will be most welcome.

To make a partition from the unused space you would do the following.1. Right click on the space listed as unallocated.2. At the menu that comes up, click on the New Partition option.3. You will now be presented with a wizard as to how you would like the partition to be created. At the first screen press Next. my difficulty is the menu that comes up does not have the create New Partition to click on so I was wondering how do you add the menu that comes up it doesn't come up no new partition option. thanks

I just bought a Samsung 1T HD502HJ. Should be receiving a Dell 8100 with a 250gb drive (W7) any day now. I would like to move my system to the Samsung, with a "C" partition of 100gb, and 2 data partitions "D" and "E", 400gb each.

Would it be better to partiton the 1T first, then move (clone) the C drive into the 100gb partition; or just copy the existing "C" to the 1T, then start making/resizing partitions after I get that one to boot?

Or should I just leave the 250gb as is, and use the 1T as back-up? The Samsung should be much faster than whatever comes in the Dell. The Samsung is rated up there close to SSD drives.

A:Partition Wizard Question

True, the Samsung is about twice as fast as an average HDD but still about 50 times slower in access time than a good SSD (5.3ms versus 0.1ms). You should expect a slight performance improvement if you move the system on this drive. Before cloning the system, you have to create the partitions. But make sure you make a clone and not an image if you move your OS to a smaller partition (which must be active - unless you have a seperate small partition for the MBR)

Hi,

First time poster. Because I found other Partition Wizard postings in this forum, I hope this is an acceptable place for the following question.

Using PW 4.2 on a Windows 64-bit installation. Objective is to resize the C: partition (currently C: is the only partition on the 1TB HDD).

When I complete all the necessary tasks of resizing the partition (I've watched the videos on the software's Website), then click "Apply," an operation begins, but is quickly interrupted asking me whether I want to restart, close open apps, or cancel operations. Choosing to restart seems to go well until the PW system begins, shortly after the "Starting Windows" screen. Twenty seconds or so into the PW process, a message appears on the screen reporting that my "disk configuration has changed," and therefore PW will not continue. When Windows completes its reboot, nothing has changed about the C: drive.

I don't know what to try next. Any suggestions? (I am very new to PW, so go easy, please!)

Thanks,
Bill Coley

If anybody has found the create bootable media option please post where you started it from !!!!.

Otherwise I'd recommend people NOT to get the PRO version -- you might just as well stick with the freebie.

Not sure if this is the right place or if this is a stupid question, but I want to be sure before running anything. First I'll explain what I have been up to. I've been having some trouble shrinking my volume to create a new partition capable of duel booting XP, at first the volume allowed 20gb (but i was greedy, wanted at least 60-80) -note, i have 596gb with 479gb free space, after deleting and uninstalling a few things. So I tried this tool called PerfectDisk 12.5 that said it had features to move files and create more volume shrinkage. After running that my allowance dropped to 5gb... So after that failed I went looking around and found this Partition Wizard (that i've seen mentioned and basically endorsed in some parts of these forums) but in all the download options to that PWBD there is no link for "ultimate", says only home, professional, enterprise. Do any of these versions still work with ultimate? or am I boned and just have to deal with the fact i'll never be able to duel boot.

Also, is it possible that a fresh install of windows 7 will allow more shrinking? i mean 20 gig, and 5 gig seems absurd out of 596.... That's my last idea if I can't use PWBD

Thanks for your time.

I have had a Zune for nearly 2 years now, and I love it to pieces, I wouldn't change MP3 players unless I absolutely had to, that being said, I would like to strangle whoever built the software for it.

I'm trying to run the software on an HP, which is probably my first problem, I've never had a reliable HP. I don't know much about this computer, since it's now my own. Now, for a year the software was running just fine until... this morning, naturally after my computer has crashed, I didn't think to back up my music since I thought... I have a Zune, I can just pull the music off of it onto the computer anyway, so why waste a DVDR? I go to open the program and the interface doesn't pop up at all. It merely comes up with an error that says "Microsoft Zune has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down" then gives me the option to send an error report. Hi,
I am having a hard time uninstalling Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0.
When I start the product installer and chose to remove the app, I get the following message (here translated from french) :
"The product installer does not have required priviledges to modify the following file :C:\Documents ans Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Editor\Default Plugin Cache.psp"
The uninstall process then stops. The same incident happens when I try to uninstal via the "Add/Remove program" control panel.
Needless to say I am logged in with an administrator user account.
Running the program as an administrator doesn't help either.
Any ideas ?

I had been reallocating space amongst my 3 hard drives using Partition Wizard 4.2. I noticed on reboot that only 2 disks were showing up in Windows.

Booted into PW and saw that the 3rd drive was apparently alive and well - its a WD500 and was split into 2 logical drives; 360 to: Programs and the balance to a logical drive: data.

I reallocated the space slightly and hit Apply. It seemed to run its routine OK, then lo and behold, Merry Gosh-darned Christmas ... Bad Disk, Status= None and all the options are grayed out. WTF?

I ran the partition Recovery Wizard, and it simply shows the status as lost/deleted, and gives me no options. Now what?

Hi

I'm trying to install a new SSD for my husband which will contain two copies of Windows 7. This is so I can make it dual boot and overwrite the second copy of Windows 7 by upgrading it to Windows 10. However, Partition Wizard is causing me a few problems and will not allow me to do this.

The current SSD (Drive C is 126GB of which approx 78GB is currently in use leaving approx 46GB unused; the new drive is 240GB and will be divided into two equal partitions of approx 120GB when I've finished. Therefore I'm trying to copy 126GB to 120GB of unallocated space; Partition Wizard is supposed to allow this by copying with resize. To ensure an unallocated space of 120GB for the first copy, I've created one partition of 120GB and tried copying Drive C: to the unallocated space of 120GB. However, Partition Wizard will not allow me to do this as it detects a disk config change and will not continue. I've been on the Partition Wizard site and looked at the FAQs and done what it said to do but still I get the same message and it cannot continue.

Incidentally, I'm trying to do this by connecting the new SSD to a desktop hard disk setup connected to a USB port.

I know there are people on this forum who are much more familiar with Partition Wizard than I am and I'm hoping that someone can tell me how to solve this particular problem. I'm also hoping that I have explained what I am trying to do in a way that people can understand. However, if more info is required then please ask and I'... Read more

hey guys does anyone know how it does this? i am running partition wizard home edition and it has hidden an external drive. i have accessed the drive 2 different PC's with different OS' and neither can see it. this isn't a problem, i'm just interested in how it works. obviously it's doing something to the external drive, otherwise it wouldn't be hidden on separate machines.

Would you happen to have a Windows XP or Windows 7 Disc lying around someplace?
Windows XP SetupUseful for Managing & Creating new Partitions with ease.

Windows 7 SetupUseful for almost EVERYTHING pertaining to a Drive before OS Boot.

If you have a Windows 7 Disc, pop it in, restart your PC. Boot from the Disc, choose "Repair my Computer" and select one of the options available. The most useful tool, in my opinion, would be the access to the Command Prompt.

The Default Start-Up Drive in "PriorBoot Prompt" is X:\Simply type in C:\ {Hit Enter} to "Hook" to the C Drive. Now, feel free to run the /sfc scannow, or chkdsk /f to check for System File issues.

Hi all,

I restored a full disk backup of my system (drive C, D, X) using Paragon. Everything is working fine, but Partition Wizard seems to fail at recognizing my extended logical partition.

I deleted the 2 partitions, recreated them in Partition Wizard and then restored the data to those partitions. Everything was fine again, but after one reboot, I'm back stuck at the same problem.

As you can see, Windows does recognize those partitions, as I can access them freely..

Anyone knows what's causing this?

Thanks!

The latest Partition Wizard v7.6 has a new Extend feature that extends a partition with space from any other partition even non-adjacent! This is pushing the boundaries of what a partition tool can do.

Having trouble with this seemingly simple operation

I have downloaded the pwhe.iso file as suggested in one the tutorials, I have used Nero 6 to burn an ISO CD, added the downloaded file pwhe.iso then selected a boot menu from a newly formatted floppy in my A: drive.
I changed the boot in the BIOS to my CD drive and when it booted it ended in a dos screen with A:\ and a flashing cursor. I entered pwhe.iso but that did not work.

I then repeated the burning with the boot menu selected as UK 'Locale' this time on booting the message appeared:

1 FD 1.44mb System Type-(06)
starting Caldera DR-DOS
EMM386 3.27 Copyright (c) 1992, 1998 Caldera, Inc. All rights reserved

Still no boot up. I now have a few new 'Coasters' for my mugs.

I have as I see it done everything right but got it wrong somewhere, any clues as to what to do would be very helpful

I burned at 52 and at 32 speeds to see if this made a difference, it didn't. All disks were verified after burning.

A:Partition Wizard, making a bootable CD

Try using ImgBurn The Official ImgBurn Website and burn at x4 speed see if that helps.Make sure you use a cd not a dvd as it works best that way.
Make sure bios priority is set to boot from the cd first. The cd should just boot to the PW splash screen, just follow the on screen prompts.

Have a 1tb Hard Drive, I have my Windows Partition and another very, very large one with all of my media. 650 GB's of Movies, Tv Shows, Music, Games, Books and various other things. I was attempting to expand this partition via Partition Wizard Boot Disk, since I had unallocated space and it would not allow me to do this in the standard Windows Disk Managment. Anyway, it was taking a good long while, and unfortunatly our power went out. Since I "ended" the expansion prematurely, the partition is now pooched. It shows up as "Other" on Partition Wizard, and Raw in Windows Disk managment. This should be fixable, I hope, as nothing is actually wrong with the data, it's probably just been mislabled due to the crash, but I desperatly need to fix this situation. I do not want to lose all of this data.

My PC specs: Asus P8Z77-V with a SATA2 WD Caviar Black 500GB. The HDD has four partitions, and I've had Windows 7 32 bit installed on C:/ for three years. Windows 8 was just installed four months ago.
Before this, I had my Windows 8 and BIOS ahci-enabled
C:/Windows 7 <> D:/Stuffs <> E:/Windows 8 <> F:/Stuffs
Yesterday, I needed some space on my F:, so I started Partition Wizard (I used this program a lot before with no problems) and cut 9gb from C, after that queue it to extend F: that much space.
Because C: is located first, but F: is located last, PW created 4 queue, which is cut -> move D: -> move E: -> extend F. The two first actions were performed fine, however when I restart as PW promoted, I was stuck at the BIOS, unable to access BIOS, with the red led lit on the P8z77-v, which means there was a problem with a boot device. If I unplug the HDD, the system goes into BIOS just fine, but obviously can't boot anymore.

There is a lot of important data on that disk which I can't afford to lose. Hi there
Partition wizard - seems no way to create a USB bootable media -- if your PC doesn't have a physical DVD drive even the PAID PRO version doesn't show the create bootable media option. PLEASE NO ANSWERS FOR BOOTABLE CD --- THIS MACHINE DOESN'T HAVE ONE.

Gone back to the FREE GPARTED program -- although it can take a lot longer to run when re-sizing / moving partitions.

(Another method -- a bit extreme though is to install Partition wizard on a Windows to Go system !!!)

The Partition wizard website is totally confusing too it shows a USB version but how to obtain it is unclear and the documentation is not good either.

I was using partition wizard to expand the system drive on my laptop that was filling up. To do this, I had 4 tasks lined up in the program. After the computer restarted and was copying files in the boot program, the laptop went to sleep. Because it had been copying files on my secondary drive, the system still boots to windows. I noticed that windows would not open my media files that I had stored on the other partition, so I tried repairing it with the file system scan. chkdsk now shows no file system errors on either partition, but my pictures still won't open and my itunes plays the wrong mp3s.

Is there anything I can do to fix this, besides go back in time and back everything up? Also, how do I prevent my computer from going to sleep while it is in boot mode with partition wizard? I can't do a system restore because I didn't have it setup on drive D. What recovery software could I try out?

Yes. Lots of folks here use that tool to do just that: shrink the C: drive to make room for another partition.

It is not advised to alter the C: drive while Windows is running, so we use the bootable CD or bootable USB versions to do the job. These are Linux based and can start and run without an operating system running.

Hello everyone

Very much a newbie to this OS and to partitioning with MiniTool Partition Wizard. It seems lots of folk here use this tool so as I can't find an answer anywhere to this thing that's bugging me ... .

I installed and used 'MT' to 'Expand' my C drive, taking a chunk from the D drive to its left. All looks fine until I go to Macrium Reflect to make a backup and its reporting an entirely different partition schedule to MT. In fact it's reporting an older one with un-resized partitions and a third partition which I formatted as NTFS (using Disk Management) as HFS+, which it was previously. So what does Disk Management now say? Same as MT. OK, I think, so Macrium's wrong, best not use that then. But it niggles me so I boot with a GParted Live CD. But that agrees with Macrium and moreover reports the 'chunk' I thought I'd taken from the D drive as unallocated.

So which is right, MT/DM or Macrium/GParted?

This is probably more worrysome because I'm new to this side of the field but any insights would be most appreciated.

Best,

S

I have recently downloaded Partition Wizard, but now have the following problem and I hope you are able to assist me!

I have used a bootable iso CD of Partition Wizard.

I booted into Partition Wizard from this CD.

I needed to delete an old Win 98SE drive and incorporate the resulting drive space as a part of my WinXP drive. I have formatted the Win98SE partition then deleted this partition so it was then unallocated. I then re-sized my C:\ drive to incorporate this unallocated space.

After this was done I rebooted into Windows XP, I saw the normal black Windows XP screen with the travelling lights, after this the two tone blue screen appeared showing Windows XP Logo. At this point the system would not load any further.

I rebooted into PW and noted that all the partitions had no letters, only an * followed by the label, what should be C:\ Windows XP was now *Windows XP

Other partitions are now * Drive 2, * Drive 3, etc.

What can I do, if anything to correct this problem.

Many thanks

I would suggest that you back up what files you can & reinstall Windows.

Based on my own experiences, the "raw" portion of the drive is lost (the data/files) and all that can be done with it is to format it and assign a drive letter to it.

Reinstalling Windows will return your system (HDD) to the state it was at the time of first boot (if Windows OEM version - came pre-installed on your system). If full retail version, you'll have the choice as to where to install Windows, but I would recommend that you delete all partitions & install Windows on the single whole drive, then use shrink to create partitions if you so wish.

Whether OEM or full retail, if you want to create new partitions in the future, use the Windows Disk Manager's "shrink" feature.

I recommend leaving the 3rd party HDD drive/partition managers alone as they can lead to disaster.

This is my first post here and I am in dire need to make a WinPE for MiniTool Partition Wizard Pro version 7.7. My pc does not detect my external drive efficiently when using Linux bootable cd so I have been using WinPE discs of Acronis True Image 2011 which I have created with it's Plus Pack. I was surprised to see that MiniTool has not a way of making a WinPE unlike that of Easeus Partition Master Pro. I recently got a license for the Pro version in a recent Facebook promo for Partition Wizard. I may in the future have a need to use a bootable disc for Partition Wizard so I'd like as much as I can have it ready for use.

Thing is that when I approached the CS of MiniTool it didn't helped me and said that MS is discontinuing the product and all. To top it they said,

I've got EVGA precision X set to run at startup. It's the latest version. I have it running at startup basically so it can display the GPU temp in my system tray. On my old Windows 7 PC it would startup in my system tray. Here's the weird thing - it starts up briefly, because the temp appears in my tray - but once the system is fully started, the temp in the tray vanishes and the software closes. I then have to manually start it up for it stay running with the temp in the tray. Am I doing something wrong? I have it selected to start with Windows in the Precision X settings menu.

please let me know any windows 7 partition manager software? i want to create new partition with out data lose...

A:windows 7 partition manager software?

Partition Wizard is one that we use frequently without any problems.

Free Partition Magic alternative. Free Partition Manager Software for Windows 7/VISTA/XP/2000 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2000.

Note: You need to download the ISO and burn it to a blank disc, and then boot into it and carry out your re-partitioning from there. If you just download the application and run it from your hard drive, you are likely to experience problems.

Good tutorial here: Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

Good ISO image burner here: http://www.imgburn.com/

Can you also upload a screenshot of your disk management layout so that we can give you good advice?

A lifetime of data on it.

Found other posters here with the problem which led me to post. It was working fine and due to whatever it now doesn't show up in explorer.

It's a USB3. I tried on multiple computers and USB 1 and 2, running Win 8 and Win 7.

Shows up in device manager and shows up as usb. I can't get it to view in partition wizard or any other recovery program like testdisk that tries to view it.

I currently have it out of the case and attached internally. I had to add it with computer running since I can't access any jumper settings and computer won't boot with it installed.

BUT it shows up in disk management. Images attached.

Can I initialize but not format, will that help it show up in Partwizard so I can get at the data somehow to save?

For the love of God HELP please...

Kevin
