Program/Drivers Doesn't work well

Q: Program/Drivers Doesn't work well

Okay, here's a good one that I've come across and I'm sure there is an expert among all of you that can tell me how to do this. I have a Warpia device (to show my screen on the TV). Now before I install the software, when my computer's screen goes black (I guess asleep), and I touch the touch pad it wakes up and says "What Do You Want To Do". So we are on our merry way. However, if I install the software to the Warpia to watch something on my large TV screen instead of my computer screen (mostly a movie that the wife wants to watch as well), I have to install the software. When the movie is over with, I have to uninstall it so the next time my screen goes black all I have to do is touch the touch pad. If I don't unstall the software, then I have to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to the task manager and hit cancel. So my question is, is there away to run this software without actually installing it or what can I do?

A: Program/Drivers Doesn't work well

Have you asked the support folks for the Warpia device for assistance?

If I try to open any Help Files (the little document with a yellow ?)...it freezes, with a "Not Responding" sign....this happens with any help file....ZoneAlarm Pro Help won't work...AVG help won't work...IZArc Help File won't work...

I'm not an expert, but I assume the "Help Viewer" is a Microsoft Program and these programs just write a file that can be opened using the "Help Viewer" So I guess I need a new Help Viewer? I have my XP Pro Installation CD...so if I have to fire it up and replace certain files, I can do that.

Thank you in advance for your help!

My comp came with Drive Image Special Edition (DISE) pre-installed. To begin, DISE creates a "D" partition. My "D" partition is large, 5 GB. Most of it is free space, DISE only takes up about 25 MB. 1st question I have is does DISE reserve this 5 GB for it's exclusive use?? If I were to run low on disk space, would I be able to access this 5 GB??

DISE for me is useless. I have Trend Micro software that does a nice job of backing things up. I attempted to uninstall DISE using the supplied uninstall program. There are several screens to wade through, but ultimately, you get to a screen which says "Do You WIsh To Uninstall DISE?" There is a box in which you must type "YES". Then a message pops up saying that the uninstall program must be run within a DOS environment and that all open programs will be terminated. Then there is a "Do you wish to proceed" message with a yes/no button to click. It is at this point that the uninstall program stops...nothing happens. I've tried running this several different times with no luck.

DISE was made by PowerQuest. They were acquired by Symantic. The Symantic site offers no help whatsoever, since it's a program they no longer support.

How can I SAFELY remove the DISE software?? BTW, the uninstall program says that the D partition will not be removed, even when using the factory uninstall program.

Rio Music Manager is the program I usually use to transfer music from my computer to my mp3 player but now it's not working. I reboot my computer maybe once every couple of months because I heard that's good for cleaning it and after I re-install Rio Music Manager after the reboots, it always works except when I rebooted my computer a few weeks ago and tried re-installing the Rio Music Manager again.. everything went fine until the second time my computer restarted and after clicking "Finish installing" or something like that.. it said it failed and told me to check these files:

D:\RIOMM\SETUP_FILES\RIOLDRV.INF
C:\SBDRIVERS\RIOLDRV.INF

When I copy & pasted them both under Start -> Run... for the first one, it said "please insert a CD into Drive D" and for the second one, a notepad opened up with a VERY VERY long bunch of words and stuff..

Any help? thank you!

Hi

I have a GeForce 8500GT Graphics card that no longer works if I install ANY drivers available for it. Before you ask I have tried the oldest drivers possible, they do not work either! It all started from a BSOD (unfortunately I lost the minidump files in a system restore) and the following days it stopped working, the computer would freeze on the Windows starting logo of Win7. Making it seem like a OS problem. But a week later and numerous tests later it appears the card works fine without drivers, but as soon as I install any it stops working. I was wandering if there is another way of using this card?

Cheers

My Brother is having a heck of a difficult time with his new ACER Aspire 9420 laptop computer. I have the same model that was bought at the same time. I'm not pleased with mine, however I am not having the same kind of problems he is experiencing.

After having a problem running programs, he decided that he had to use the backup OS disk that was recommended to be made so that he could restore his computer to the initial factory condition of the computer. After inserting the DVD he made with the back up program on it, he found that it wouldn't run or be recognized. Why would ACER have suggested that such a disk be made, if it will not run when you need it?

Anyone having the same problem? How do you correct this?

I have a program that I can't uninstall. I get an error message "Cannot open INSTALL.LOG". The log is right there, in the same folder as the uninstaller. I tried both add/remove programs in control panel, and running the uninstaller directly. Same error, both ways. I also tried to reinstall first over the existing program. No luck.

So I figure that I'll just delete it manually, but would like to ask if I am forgetting anything.

Delete the folder in Program Files

Run a search for both the program name and the company name, and delete all files

(Optional, I suppose:) Run a registry search for both the program name and the company name, and delete all keys. (I'm guessing that if I don't, the program will continue to be listed in the add/ remove programs list.)

Would that about cover it? Or might someone have a completely different idea? Thank you to all who take the time to reply.

An additional thought: Could the information in the INSTALL.LOG be of help to me?

A:Uninstall A Program Whose Uninstaller Doesn't Work

Read all the text files in the program's directory - it may give you clues as to where and what the program installed.

Next, remember to backup everything (files and registry entries) before you delete it! A manual removal can hose your system if you're not familiar with the structure of the OS.

Greetings!

My friend has given me her laptop to look at because it was riddled with unwanted pop-ups, viruses and browser toolbars.

The laptpop is an HP Pavilion Notebook PC Model: G6-1195sa running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium edition. It has an Intel i3 M370 processor running  @ 2.40 GHz.and has 3GB memory and a 300 GB hard drive.

I have removed all the viruses, etc and installed Avast free anti-virus. I ran a boot time scan and it is now clean. However, the USB ports were not recognising devices (flash drive, mouse) that I plugged in. The USB ports have power as shown by the flash drive's light and thedevice show up in device manager after being plugged in, but they don't function.

I tried updating the drivers from HP.com and the chipset driver install (sp52791.exe) appeared to work, yet did nothing. So I tried running it with Administrator permissions - still nothing. So I uninstalled the existing USB drivers and tried to reinstall - nothing. I booted into safe mode and ran it again with Admin permission = nothing.

I went to Intel.com to download the motherboard drivers. The program doesn't run... asking for admin permission. I ran it with admin permissions and it errors, reporting that it should be run with admin permissions.

I'm now stuck. Can anyone help, please?

Regards,
Geoff (UK).

Hello!
I'm spanish so my english is not perfect, I'm sorry:
I have a IV880-10 (viewed in CD) AsRock motherboard, "Intel core 2 cpu" , 4coredual-VSTA.

When I had winXP, the front audio panel works perfectly but now with 7057 they won't work. I had installed the last audio codecs from realtek but the motherboard drivers (from CD) are incompatible and they don't let me install it on the 7057.

I tried to install them with the compatibility mode (Vista and XP) , but after the restart win7 was damaged and started a "restore system".
So... frontal audio don't are my life, but i like them because they are very confortable to connect my speakers to mp3, ipod, and nother devices.

I'm a little newbie about this, so please can anyone tell me what have I to do to make my frontal audio panel works?

Do I need to download the 4coredual-VSTA drivers from asrock.com ? (bios?, audio?, hdd?)
Or simply is the 7057 that in this moment doesn't support my motherboard front panels?
Or.......`[I really don't know!]

If any information is needed, please make me know it.

Thank you!
?Muchas gracias!
Saludos,
Antonio.

Hello,

I'm pretty much lost here. A while ago I reinstalled windows XP on my parents' PC. On my next visit they told me there is no sound. I checked to see through dxdiag that it does not detect any sound card. So I thought I perhaps forgot the sound drivers.

It has integrated audio chipset and I didn't know exactly which audio drivers to install. Tried a bunch, some didn't even install and others installed, but no sound still.

Then I uninstalled audio drivers and just tried to do a windows update. That redirected me to a bunch of sound drivers, tried the newest one - same, no sound still. And dxdiag still says that there is no sound card.

After a while I found the driver CD for the motherboard. Installed the sound drivers from there and STILL no sound.

So I'm pretty much stumped. Maybe the the hardware is failing? The motherboard is relatively new (about a year old). Any ideas? Much appreciated.

I was running Microsoft Security Essentials when it just froze 1/2 way through a quick scan. The mouse still could move, clicking to stop or close out didn't do anything either. Also Ctrl + Alt + Delete also did nothing. I waited 5 minutes. Nothing. Had to pysically shut down.

Other times I have not been able to click start > shut down. Sometimes I can wait a minute or two and finally things will work again.

Is this indicative of some other process running? Possible a virus? RAM problem? Could a motherboard going bad cause this? Also this customer's BIOS became corrupted for some reason, as the computer would not start before I reseated the battery to get the computer to start again. The battery tested normal at 3.06 V. So I'm still trying to rule out hardware.

Hi!
I'm having a problem with a laptop (DELL Vostro 1510 - Windows 7 Professional 32bit)

Few months later I started having issues with IE, works fine for an hour or two, and then (The program stopped responding)... until it was doing it all the time.

Took it back to the computer repair shop, and did a clean up, and uninstalled IE, and reinstalled it.
It was working fine for two weeks... and then it started to do it again.
I use IE for a few hours, or minutes (Random) and then IE Stopped responding!

I downloaded SF Diagnostic Tool
But after I run it (From desktop) as an administrator, and click on GRAB ALL, I have that error message:
(I disabled Norton antivirus) so I can't even post the log...
Can you please help me find out about that issue? or what do I have to do from now?

I'm on a friend's computer right now, who uses a dropbox system which works in conjunction with a sound recorder. (The person record whatever he or she needs to record, they save it, which means it sends to whomever the dropbox was made for, which in this case is his/her professor. DAMN THEM PROFESSORS :3)

Usually he/she tries to use the program and the sound recorder, which works or doesn't work, but causes all audio on the computer to fail.

When the friend came to me for help, on a freak accident, the microphone/dropbox system worked, and kept all audio intact and sound. So I know the sound is working or able to work.

Another interesting thing about this problem is that ALL audio programs do not work. This doesn't just affect the browsers, this also affects Windows Media Player, which now refuses to play sound files that used to be able to be played because it says it can't play that kind of file.

Please help. :3

Well then. How bout that? I should have just gotten Vista 32bit. I just tried to install a program on Vista and Vista turned up it's nose.
Sorry Dwayne, but I refuse to install this driver. It hasn't been signed!

And I replied with, You fool, this is a legit program, there's nothing wrong with it. It will work just fine. Install it.

And vista says to me, Well I don't want to.

Then I replied with, do it anyway. Your my computer, my operating system, you do what I say.

And then Vista laughed.

Is there a work around that I can set up to get Vista to install these "unsigned drivers"?

A:Requires signed drivers... program may not work properly

you have to run Vista with the option to allow for unsigned drivers - reboot, hit F8 repeatedly until you get the Vista menu, and select (I beleive) Allow Vista to use unsigned drivers.

Be warned, though that this is something you'll have to do *every time* you boot.

That does seem to be Microsoft's idea of maximum protection. It isn't necessary to access the net as an administrator. It is safer to have a separate user account as it limits the damage caused by malware. Using the smart screen filter and in private browsing helps. I am trying to use my CD-ROM drive and it doesn't work here are the list of things I have tried

Uninstalled and reinstalled the cd-rom driver it is a Matbleepa UJ-840D CD-ROM/DVD/CD-RW in my HP laptop (Didn't work)

Read stuff about code 39 and removed in the registry edit screen Upperfilters, Upperfilters.bak, Lowerfilters, Lowerfilters.bak and rebooted (Didn't work)

Removed itunes from computer (didn't solve the issue with cd-rom player)

Went back to a system restore point that was before the last time I used the CD-rom player and it worked and that (didn't work as well)

Read a lot of different posts about code 39 and nothing is given after the above steps are taken if it still won't work except to reformat which I would prefer not to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:CD-ROM doesn't work, code 39 error, tried many things still doesn't work

When I get an attachment (for example sake let's call it a PDF) and the open option isn't available because my laptop doesn't know which program to open it with: I click on "Choose Program" and the box doesn't pop up to give me the options, it just goes to the last file that I was in. Ex: picture folder, My Documents. Does anyone know why the normal box doesn't pop up ,like in XP?

I have an ASUS notebook running windows 7 64-bit. I am using the QuietOffice power profile, however the screensaver won't kick in no matter what I do, and the display does not turn off even though I set it to be after 5-minutes of inactivity. I don't know if there is something running in the background... I have turned off my usb wireless mouse, and nothing....

Any ideas?

THanks.

A:HELP: power option doesn't work - screen saver doesn't start!

This is another case of factory bloatware interfering - in this case a useless factory utility overriding Win7's superior built-in version.

Googling the Quiet Office feature of Asus there are multiple reported problems. Best to default to the Win7 built-in Power Options in Control Panel. Set up a Balanced Plan unless you're a gamer then use High Performance.

Here are other tips for cleaning up factory bloatware

I have no idea what my sister and her friends were doing on the comp for a couple of days that i decided not to use it, but now:

- a few programs take forever to load or don't load at all, but they do show up under the processes tab in the task manager
- after pressing Ctrl Alt Del, the task manager icon appears in the system tray, but the thing only shows up a minute later
- my system recovery is "not able to protect my computer," and restarting does nothing
- actually, when restarting or shutting down Windows, it stops at where it only shows my desktop background and cursor [which is still able to move] and nothing else after that, so i have to hold the power button and force it to shut off
- when I right click the desktop and click on "Properties..." [or something similar to this action] it doesn't show up at all, and whenever I try to open any application after that, they don't even load at all either
- and probably other stuff that I haven't took note of yet...

Things i've tried to get rid of these problems:
- Virus scan with avast!, a couple viruses found and fixed, but nothing changed.
- disk clean up, nothing changed
- registry clean, nothing changed
- CURRENTLY defragging my C drive, hope something changes..

Anyone know what the heck's going on!?
Anyone got any suggestions on what to do next?
Anything helps and would be greatly appreciated!

A:programs not loading right, computer doesn't shut down right, sys recov doesn't work

no replies yet? :(

anyway, just stopped by to say that when shutting down, it takes forever to get to the "Saving your settings..." screen, and that's where I decided that it stops and nothing else after that.
Defragged my C drive, still no results besides the computer feeling a bit smoother-running o_o

I have a 4y old Sony VAIO (VGN-NS11J) that stopped working today morning after making a whirring noise

Repeated attempts to restart failed and after many attempts, I managed to get to the Startup Repair mode - after a long time, startup repair says it failed to automatically repair the problem

I managed to run system restore but after a while I got the following message: "System restore failed due to an unspecified error. The disk strucgture is corrupted and unreadable (0X80070571)

My laptop did not come with a Windows Vista CD/Recovery disk

My first priority is to recover a few files in the laptop - if I am able to do this, then I dont mind junking the laptop

Since this is an old laptop, I would prefer not to use an expensive professional to recover the data

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated!

For the last month or so, every time I log off my account, the keyboard does not register at the Windows Log In screen. This makes it so I have to restart the computer and then it works fine.
There are three accounts on the computer, the casing has been half removed for the last 3 months, a DVD burner and driver recently installed 3 months ago and I am using a wireless off brand USB keyboard and mouse.
OS: Windows Xp Home Edition 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
As for the second part, the computer requires several restarts to boot up, sometimes up to twenty minutes of turning on and off to boot up. Only started doing this a week ago.

A:My Keyboard doesn't work, and the computer turns on but doesn't start.

It sounds like something is wrong with your Windows XP drivers. Something like that happened to me while building my computer, and when I boot up the keyboard did not work because my copy of windows XP was bad. You could try reinstalling windows XP, and It might work better, but I dont have a definite answer to your problem.

Have a friend with a relatively new Lenovo laptop using Windows XP SP3. Overnight he can't access the Internet via browsers, email or AIM. His desktop connected to the same router is working fine.

He can access the router by IP address using either IE7 or FireFox 3.5. Anything that needs a DNS server doesn't work. This does say though that he has a working connection to the router.

He's run MalWareBytes and his own McAffee software looking for bad stuff but has found nothing.

Running "ipconfig /all" from the command prompt gives exactly the same results for the laptop as his working desktop. The DNS servers are there. He can ping the DNS servers using their IP addresses. He is being assigned a proper local network address so DHCP is working on the router.

Any thoughts on where to look next to discover why the Internet applications don't seem to be able to find the DNS servers?

A:Can't Access Websites, Email doesn't work and no AIM doesn

FWIW, my friend took his laptop to a PC shop. Their diagnosis was malware. I don't know the identity of the malware. Anyway, the shop saved his data then formatted and reloaded XP SP3.

Hi... xp stopped responding and I decided to power off.

Was never able to restart after that. Normal boot shows the windows initial screen, but eventually just restarts, safe mode does the same thing whether it's with network, command line or plain safe mode. Last known good configuration does the same.

Needed to use a file so decided to remove the HD and re-install to another PC. I did have access to the file in question but now I'd like to fix the problem.

The other system uses AVG. I started a scan and it detected Cekar.d (A0003977.exe, wdfmgr.exe and initially ntldr.exe), Dropper.Inor (ntdetect.hta, A0003979.hta), PSW.Generic5.ABVW (ctfmona.exe), PSW.OnlineGames.AAFI (ctfmonb.exe), PSW.Generic5.AFYK (ctfmond.exe), PSW.OnlineGames.ZWT (LotusHlp.exe) and some others but for whatever reason the scan stopped. I restarted it and now the AV still finds most of the threats it was seeing before but not Cekar.d. in the ntldr.exe file.

The system that had the problem was running Win XP Home SP1. Unfortunately, I can't find the manufacturer's recovery CD.

HD is still in the other PC. How should I attack the problem?

A:XP doesn't reboot, safemode doesn't work

Update... Three passes of AVG and all threats were put in vault. Tried to re-install the HD to the initial system but no change... System says it didn't start correctly, that a new software of hardware could be responsible, the suggests to try las known good config, none of the options work, they all perform some tasks then windows reboots and ends up in the same screen.

My problem is that I cannot access the internet through my LAC. I enable the connection and it will connect and send packets, but will not receive any packets. I have no problems enabling my wireless connection and connecting to the internet. The wireless does like to disconnect and reconnect about 3 or 4 times an hour which is another problem I have. I believe this LAC problem started around the same time I was trying to get shared music between my computers on iTunes. I was trying to allow for connection on port 3689, but everything I did was unsuccessful. Any suggestions for any of these problems I'm having?

I cannot get Windows Media Encoder 9 to work at all at home, but I have no problems with it at work, so I know I'm not trying to do something with it that it can't handle.

At home, every time I try to convert either an AVI or a VOB to WMV, either using the wizard or the custom settings, it lets me get through it all and then, when it starts trying to encode, it throws up the message:
"Windows Media Encoder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. ..."

It never gives me any more information than this, just crashes and closes. I've tried repairing it through the control panel, as well as completely uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but it hasn't helped.

At home I'm running Windows XP Media Center. At work, where I've never had it crash, I'm running Windows XP Professional. Is there something in Media Center that causes it to crash? Is there any patch I can download or thing I can do to get it to work on my home computer?

Thanks for your help.

A:Windows Media Encoder doesn't work at home, does at work

I'm currently having the same problem . I open the .vob file set the output folder , settings etc etc . just as it was about to start converting , WME just stops and crashes . I use windows xp home edition so if your company's xp professional can make it work im thinking it is something in the professional edition which allows it to work not something in our edition that doesnt allow it to work. Are there any alternatives for encoding a video? i dont have much cash right now so i was hoping i might find some freeware alternatives . thanks

I'm having difficulty figuring out this persistent malware. I think it's likely that there are multiple issues.

I'm running Windows Vista.

The malware started off with "google redirect" symptoms, and disabling my Symantec software

Shortly following, I could no longer access the web. However, the malware itself would create an internet explorer popup every 5-10 minutes (not my default browser) that would go to "search sites" (none that I recognized....) and search for lewd topics. Running the taskmanager would show multiple instances of iexplore.exe running on my machine (one for each popup). The popups would have to be eliminated one by one using the task manager.

Trying to run a system restore, I discovered all restore points had been deleted.

I installed AVG antivirus and got it to run once which seemed to help the problem. However, upon restart, all issues were back and I could no longer run avg. Windows defender constantly pops up that a new trojan is attacking my machine.

At this point, I unplugged my internet connection and started using another machine. I had left my problematic computer alone for about a month.

Upon turning it on last night, each time I logged on, it gave me a warning that "Windows had encountered a critical error and will restart in one minute" and would restart. I tried running cmd (in that one minute) to intercept it, but the task manager would freeze if I tried to run it from there and explorer wo... Read more

Help! See the title.

I'm going mad because I can't listen to music! I've tried three different mediaplayers (Windows Media Player, VLC & QuickTime) and all three just don't work! WMP won't even play the files, VLC will (in .avi-case even with picture!) but there won't be sound :/. Same for QuickTime,...

Now, the weird thing is that I can play games without a problem and the sound's still there! Hell, even sounds made by Windows -- I hear 'em! YouTube works too!

I'm concerned there might be something wrong in the registry,... (I use Eusing Free Registry Cleaner/Defrag regularly, I guess something was bound to go wrong,...)

Please, help? :(

Alright,

So whenever a program uses InstallShield to install or uninstall a program, it boots up, and the bar fills up preparing to run the Wizard, and right when it fills, an error message pops up: "An error occurred while launching the setup. The specified module could not be found," and then it quits.

This occurs anytime I try to install or uninstall anything that uses InstallShield. I've tried everything at the InstallShield troubleshooting site, including deleting a file in the registry (the problem key was there but deleting it didn't solve the problem), making sure I had admin privilidges, and emptying out the Temp folder. I can't reinstall InstallShield because it (ironically) requires InstallShield to install.

The one problem that I can think of would be that I just got back from college. At college, I logged onto a network to use the computer. Could this have something to do with it? I've tried logging onto the computer itself as the Admin, but the problem still occurs. This whole thing really sucks because the comp is pretty much useless not being able to install or uninstall anything.

Thanks for any help.

A:InstallShield doesn't work, none of the usual fixes work

Depending on what version of InstallShield you have here is a site that shows some of it's program errors >
http://helpnet.installshield.com/robo/projects/installshield10-5compact/CP_IHelpBuildErrors.htm

Have you tried this site > http://consumer.installshield.com/

InstallShield uses the Windows Installer Service. It could be that Windows Installer Service has somehow become corrupted.
Check this site out > http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108201

As a last resort you might consider reinstalling your Windows Operating System on top of itself to repair and replace the corrupted or missing files associated with InstallShield and Windows Installer Service.

Just for your information, InstallShield is the oldest installer program company. However there is another that is completely free “Inno Setup” which you may have seen when installing some programs. Here’s their site > http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php

Dear All
I'm using Dell Vostro 3350 now. After I upgrade Win 10 Pro, the Laptop Speaker doesn't work and can't give output any sound. But if I put my earphone, all of the sound include song work.
I use PC Doctor and scan the computer hardware but there is nothing found error on hardware and software. I also use windows update to scan all of the drivers, but it can't found any update drivers of this laptop. So what can I do next to fix the problem?
Thank you for member's attention

A:Laptop Speaker Doesn't Work But Using Earphone Work

Hello. Dell does not recommend installing Win10 on the Vostro 3350 model. Dell says, "If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected." To get the best performance from your laptop, revert it back to the previous operating system. You can google to find instructions for undoing Win10.
If you want to continue with Win10, then try to install the IDT Win8 audio driver using compatibility mode.
1. Click the link to go to the driver's page. Download and save the driver to your desktop or any convenient location on the hard drive. 2. Double click on the new folder to extract (unzip) the driver files.3. The extractor wizard will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be at "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Write down the exact location that the wizard creates. 4. If the driver begins to install automatically, halt (cancel) the installation.5. Browse to the driver files on the hard drive (the location you wrote down).6. Find the "setup.exe" file.7. Right click on setup.exe to open the context menu.8. Select the Properties.9. Select the Compatibility tab.10. Check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for"... Win8.

Updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two weeks ago.
Had problems with Firefox.  Tried to download to replace existing Firefox.  CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download. But.
- The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon, but if I right-click, a text menu does appear and lets me, for example, shut down.
.- If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar, the screen flashes but End does not come up.  Ditto for the Windows Store icon.
-  Somewhere SpyBot S&D was erased, but I was able to download it.
- If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer, I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry.  If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo.
- Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page, though Pale Moon and Opera can.
- I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans, they find no issues.

SO there are a few issues that I need help with.

A:windows 10 problems - start menu doesn't appear, windows key doesn't work, etc

Hello,
Well the first thing you should try is to Run System Restore to before all of these problems started or to when you first installed Windows 10.
Then try to download Firefox from there website
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Third thing is I would recommend to get rid of Avast it is low end and could be allowing virus I recommend ether McAfee or Norton Security.

Those are some things to think about
but it is all up to you when making your final decision

here's my problem, as near as I can tell,

a few months ago the wireless connection on my hp laptop stopped "seeing" my wireless network. Eventually, during a scan with my panda security system a virus was found (for some reason it is no longer in the logs-but is was, I think, trojan or sasser in my outlook folders-and it was deleted). The wireless seemed to work again but then went back to being "invisible" to my wireless detector on the laptop. I went to HP downloads to see if I could just update the "driver" and ended up updating "system bios" which seemed to work also, for a while, then the system goes back to not seeing the wireless. I could sometimes do the right-click "repair" option to get it to connect but that stops working after a while. I think that there is still some residual virus lurking in the system to cause this problem so that is why I am posting here. Thanks for any help you can give

Hey guys well I own a Dell PowerEdge 400SC, whichd oesn't support XP+.. which I have Media Center, and I had it working before but I had to reformat, and can't seem to find the dirvers that I got working last time, right now I'm on my wireless card, but I would like to get on my wired connection.

So is there any program I can use to detect what drivers I need? or where can I go to get drivers for my computer?

A:Drivers program? Or help finding drivers

Start here, with the Dell website:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P4_CEL_400_SC&os=WW1&osl=EN

If it doesn't have the drivers you need, you could next find it at the Windows Update site.

Ok I have a problem, and its really bugging me. One day a friend came over and we tried to install a Geforce 2 GTS into my computer (PII 450 Mhz,96 MB Ram, etc. etc.) Anyway, we installed the card into the AGP slot, but for some reason the monitor wouldnt work when we turned on the computer (kept saying Video Cable Connected?)(I figured out why it was doing that though) Anyway since it wasn't working, we took the card back out, put the computer back together, all good. My friend leaves, and I turn on the computer. At first everything seems ok, but then I notice my sound doesnt work, nor does my graphics card work (my original one) I fixed the graphic problem by just installing the new drivers, but the sound I cant. I thought maybe it had to do with drivers since we deleted my old graphics drivers when we installed the new graphics card, so I downloaded the newest sound card drivers, and its still not working. I went back and opened up my computer. Theres this one wire that we could not remember wether it was connected or not. Ive tried having my computer on with the wire connected and not connected, and it doesnt seem to make any difference. So I would really like to figure out whats the matter with my comp, and hope to god its fixable, cause I really dont want to get a new comp.

Thanks before hand.

The Windows 7 search program is horrible. When I couldn't get it to find something I knew was on my PC, I tested it out. First, I found a file, then asked the search program to find it. Even while I was looking right AT it, it didn't find it. Certain extensions it will not even bother looking for.
It doesn't repeat a search, either. You have to type it all back in. Lousy.
Can this be repaired somehow? My old W98SE search program was vastly better, and much easier to use.
At the very least, a search program should be a little bit reliable. To be crude about it, this one sucks big donkey....

I have Windows XP Pro, SP3.

I use the email program Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.18. In reading PC World magazine it said the desktop calendar program Mozilla Sunbird would integrate itself with Thunderbird when Sunbird is installed. I installed Sunbird 0.9, but I see no indication that it has integrated with Thunderbird. Do I need to do something or am I missing something?

I know, I should probably ask this question in the Mozilla support forum, but when I go there they say it's only for Firefox. They give a link for the Thunderbird Forum. I click it and go there, but there's nothing there but adds. Could somebody please tell me specifically how I can get to a place where I could ask a Thunderbird related question?

Thanks,

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.Create an association in the folder Options contrlo panel

Can anybody tell me how to resolve this issue?

A:In IE6,I got 'file doesn't not have a program associated with it'

Hey, make sure the address has "http://" at the start of it. If it does then make sure the file has a .html/.htm ending... if not then on your desktop create a new text file change the extension to .html(or find a .html file somewhere) right click it and click "open with...", chose IE and make sure "always use this..." is checked.

Cheers,

I'm having problems. I keep getting the message, "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action". The file is:

Programs\users\Leapforce\LeapforceExtension\NativeHost\Install.bat

I checked the Control Panel, Default Programs - Associate a file type with a program, (install.bat)? (bat)? but this file extension is not listed anywhere in the Control Panel.

I'm using Google Chrome and I also tried Control Panel - Default Programs - Set Your Default Programs and when I highlighted Chrome I chose "this program has all its defaults"

I have had the extension working fine in the past so I don't know what has changed. Can you please help me?

Thank you

A:File doesn't have a program associated with it

Hello Pamela,

Downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed .bat option in the tutorial below should be able to fix this for you. It'll restore the default associations for .bat files.

As it says, go to Control Panel on the problem machine.
Open Folder Options applett.
Click File Types tab.
Look through the list of file extensions for ASP, ASPX, HTM, HTML and see that they are associated with IE. If not click on the button for restore.

Let's start here and see. It may be some other file extension that needs fixing.

So, I'm a bit of an Android geek as well, and today I went to go update the firmware on my HTC. To do that, you have to use ADB while the bootloader is loaded.

Once I rebooted into the bootloader, Windows showed a pop up saying that the device had malfunctioned. I did a little searching, tried installing newer drivers (Could not be installed due to an error) and then stumbled upon an "answer" by Microsoft saying that it's a preview, so not all the functionality is there yet. Apparently that includes any ADB functionality for Android.

Just wanted to let everyone else know in case they want to jump up to 8.1.

Have tried two different wireless adapters on my XP computer. One USB, One PCI. Both adapters show up in Device Manager but Windows does not like the drivers and I get a Code 31 error. I have tested one of them on another XP computer and it works fine, so I think my OS or some setting in my OS is the problem. My XP is updated with Service Pack 3. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail.

Any ideas? thanks.

A:XP doesn't like my wireless adapter drivers

Did you install the drivers that came with the adapters? Did you totally remove the devices from Device Manager, reboot and re-install the device? On the USB adapter, sometomes you need to install the driver before you plug the device in.

my network consisted of a dlink 802.11b wireless router (dlink di-614). The signal strenght was not enough to reach upstairs, so i hard-wired an access point to the wireless router (dwl-800) and put it upstairs. It worked, i had full internet and network coverage all over my house...everywhere!!

Then my router died, so i've had to replace it. Thinking one day, all my devices will be 802.11g capable, i decided to replace my dead router with a new 802.11g (dlink di-624) router. OK... all that being said...whenever i leave the room where the 802.11g router is, my laptop switches to the signal from my access point (802.11b) from upstairs. That's fine and the singal strength stays full, but I can no longer access the internet or ping the di-624 router. I've also noticed that my desktop (which is hardwired to the di-624 router) cannot ping any of the devices that are attached to the AccessPoint's network. The last little kicker... i have a desktop upstairs that is fully covered under the network of the access point, and it can still access the internet. So why when my laptop is in the crossover area does the internet drop but the signal strenght stay strong? (and remember, when i had an 802.11b router i never had this problem...everything was great!)

Any help would be great! (and sorry for the long post)

Hey all,

Not sure where to post this so thought I would try here.

Ever since I've put together my new PC I have had an issue with my wireless card. Sometimes when I start up my PC the driver doesn't load for it, I can see it in the device manager list but the driver hasn't loaded and when I try to fix it it doesn't work. Restarting my PC fixes this issue. so it hasn't really worried me that much.

But last week I upgraded my GPU and I think the same thing is happening to it, my PC will boot up, I see the BIOS screen, then the loading Windows screen then sometimes my screen will go into standby mode as if there is nothing plugged into it. Restarting the PC will fix this.

I'm running Windows 8, I have tried re installing the OS, getting Windows 7 and Windows 8 drivers for all my components and the problem remains.

My motherboard is a Gigabit Z77 D3H and the graphics card is a Gigabit 260 GTX.

I also thought it might be an issue with heat so I have installed 3 new fans but this hasn't helped.

Anyone had any issues like this or heard of anything like this happening? Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Sam

The actual page is:

Welcome to TSF

Sorry cannot read Italian.

Resetting IE restores the browser to the state when it was first installed.

1. Close all open windows of Internet Explorer.
2. Open a fresh window of Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu.
3. In the dialog box that appears, select the last tab named Advanced (see figure).
4. The last button in the Advanced page of the Internet Options Dialog is named Reset. Click on the button.

Resetting the IE browser settings restores your Internet Explorer to the state when you installed it. This means that it removes all additional add-ons that were added to the Internet Explorer either intentionally or unintentionally. Most applications add their own plug-ins, such as the Adobe Suite, which adds a PDF Convertor.

Hi. I got a new PC recently and I'm trying to connect it to my old PC to get files and play LAN-games with my brother. Both PC's have Windows XP. I am trying to connect them with a cross-over ethernet cable. No routers or anything between. I have ran the Windows Home-Network Wizard and updated all the drivers of the network cards of both computers. It currently shows a status of "Connected" in the 'Network connections'. but I'm still unable to get these 2 to connect eachother. I have manually entered the IP's and subnet masks. I also tried the automatic-IP's but it didn't work either. I have turned the Windows own Firewall off. Any ideas/questions?

Try getting the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard. If it's an onboard chip, then the chipset regulates that, and a driver update should do the trick.

I recently discovered that my cd-rom drive doesn't work; it wont read any kind of cd or dvd. In My Computer the cd-rom drive (E: ) icon is missing, and in Device Manager there isnt any cd or dvd drive related items. In the BIOS-setup there doesn't seem to be anything about the cd-rom drive either, so it seems to be gone everywhere.
Searching around Google I found a lot of different solutions, but none of them worked; I tried deleting the upper/lower filters, I tried system restore and I tried searching for cd-rom drivers at my computer support site but there wasn't any available.
I don't use my cd-rom drive often, so its hard to say when it happened and what caused this problem, but it happened a little while after i updated my BIOS to version f.32, maybe that could have affected it somhow?
I'm not great with computers, so please take me through any possible solutions very thorougly.
Btw i have a Compaq Presario v6500 notebook, ask if you need any addtitional information, and sorry if my english is bad.
