BAT file to copy file to multiple locations?

Q: BAT file to copy file to multiple locations?

Hi, I have a file with no extension called simply, D:\file

I want to copy this to multiple locations, eg e:\file , f:\file

sometimes there will already be an older version, so I would like it to overwrite the file.
Is this possible with a bat file?
I tried a simple copy command in a bat file, but it wouldn't copy at all.

A: BAT file to copy file to multiple locations?

Have you tried 'xcopy' with the /y flag. This should copy the files and overwrite without it prompting you.... Would this suut your needs?

I'm not new to Batch Files but i have a requirement that i can't seem to get my head around, I'm sure it must be simple'ish..

I have 2 .txt files (Locations.txt | Files.txt)
Locations is a list of directoriesFiles is a list of file names

I would like to write a Batch Script that would loop through each location in the Locations.txt for files names that match any in Files.txt

I think i may need to write a for loop to cycle through the locations but then i'm not sure how i would pass the file names through for it to check for.

Basically if it does find any of those file names in any of the location i would want it to echo a message.

Hi - every week i need to paste the same file (that gets updated weekly) into about 10 different locations on my computer. Is there some sort of way that I can make a list and it will paste it to all these locations without me having to paste it there individually. Any help would be appreciated Thanks heaps.

A:Pasting A File Into Multiple Locations

If you mean copying the file and pasting it into different folders then yes.If you mean copying data into different application (like Excel spreadsheets) then yes, but I don't know how.You did not say what your system runs, I'll assume Windows of some sort.To copy one file to many folders just make a batch file. You will need to know the full path to the file and to the folders. Open notepad and type (or cut n paste) the following:@echo offREMREM MULTIC.BATREMREM syntax = multic_<foldername>_<filename.ext>REMREM this batch file copies the fileREM specified in the command lineREM to three pre-existing directoriesIF "%2" == "" GOTO NOFILE IF "%1" == "" GOTO NODIRCOPY C:\%1\%2 C:\BATCH\FOLDER1COPY C:\%1\%2 C:\BATCH\FOLDER2COPY C:\%1\%2 C:\BATCH\FOLDER3GOTO END:NODIRecho "*** Error - No directory specified ***":NOFILEecho "*** Error - No file specified ****":ENDSave this notepad file as MULTIC.BAT in a folder where its easily found. You can run it from command prompt.Obviously change the C:\BATCH\FOLDERx names to suit and add more COPY lines if you want to copy to more folders. There are probably better ways to do this within Explorer but I'll leave that to the gurus.hth

Hi there,

Does anyone know of a freeware to copy a folder (with content and sub folders) to multiple locations?
I've discovered 2 programs that were able to do that namely LDMove and Solidcopy.
LDMove only worked properly for a few times but is now showing an error message at startup.
Solidcopy is okay but could be improved so I'm looking for a better program.
Thanks in advance.......

My two laptop hard drives decided to go south at the same time a few weeks ago. The boot drive has disappeared completely and been removed but the second one, which had a mirror of the system and program files of the first and does still boot, comes in and out of recognition. If I try to backup certain music files from it, files which otherwise seem OK, the backup fails as the source drive disappears until the next reboot. Chkdsk had been run to 'fix,' before that I could not clone the system and program files on the new (refurb) identical replacement. Any suggestion on keeping the drive recognized so I can get the data backed up?

Hi excel-macro experts, I am writing a data-compiling macro which does, 1)select folder, 2)open xls files in the folder, 3)select all data for each file (only sheet 1 has data), 4)create a new file in the folder (let's say summary file), 5)paste data selected in the process (3) to the summary file created. With a lot of help from many websites, the following macro has been created. However, there is a PROBLEM that is when the data are pasted, all data were pasted into one column (sorce data of each original file has many columns). I need to avoid this. All I want is pasting the source data to Sheet1 of the summary file with the same number of columns (all source data files has the same number of columns) as the sorcce data has. I'm currently in the process of copying files back from the cloud in the exact same location where I had them before and now it says that the file name is too long and prompts to see whether I want to skip the file or not. The error message given does not
give the full file name or the path so it is impossible to see which files were copied successfully or not. This never happened with XP! Then afterwards I found that some of the files with long names did copy successfully whereas others didn't. I find this
to be a very user unfriendly process and I'm totally confused! These are critical files and I'm sure I haven't exceeded 260 characters or whatever. This is soOoO frustrating!!

A:file copy error message not sufficient + file name too long will not copy

Hi ,

There is a limit of filename length within Windows Explorer. In the Windows API (with some exceptions discussed in the following paragraphs), the maximum length for a path is MAX_PATH, which
is defined as 260 characters.
The shell and the file system have different requirements. It is possible to create a path with the Windows API that the shell user interface is not able to interpret properly.
This means that your long filename can only be handled at the command prompt level and you cannot drag and drop an illegal length filename within Windows Explorer.

Please simplify your folders and titles.

More information, please check the part of Maximum Path Length Limitation in the link below. Cai

Where a file can exist in multiple directories. Now I need to update the file and it would be nice to just be able to copy the changed file to all of the directories that contains the same file (filename). It can be anywhere from 1 to a couple of 100 copies.

Is there a way in Windows 7?
Anyone knows of a tool that does this?

I am a complete newbie when it comes to batch files and batch file software, so apologies in advance.

I've done some research on Google etc but I seem to just be getting more and more confused trying to use various different scripts and programs and reading different info on various websites.

This is what I need...

I have a folder with around 2000 files in it. I want to be able to copy certain files from this folder (normally around 40) and place them in a brand new folder, I want to be able to do this with nothing more than a txt file that has all the file names I need copying in it with every file name on a separate line.

I receive around 10 new txt files each day so you can imagine how tedious it is searching through 2000 files, picking out the 40 I need, 10 times a day everyday.

To make things even more complicated, the txt files I receive don't always have the correct file names in them, maybe there's a misspelling or a word or two missing for some of the names. That's ok when I'm going through picking out the files I need to copy myself because I can normally tell which file is being requested, but I can't see it being so easy for a program or whatever to do, I'm guessing it'll need to have a search feature where it picks out the most likely file.

I'd like it to be as automated as possible. I receive the txt file, make sure each file name is on a separate line then a program or script or whatever goes out and picks out the files (or most likely files f... Read more

We are using a piece of software at work, called FormDocs, which as the name suggests, is for creating forms. These forms are on a network and shared. In the options, users can set the file locations for the template documents, which then, should remain unchanged. This means when they choose File,New, the user is directed to the directory where the templates are stored. One user is constantly having to go through the process of setting this up when the program is used, where others don't. Is there a way of finding out why it does this, and preventing it?

Hi Guys and Gals !

I'll toss out some red meat for the Guru's.

Over the years I have owned many computers dating back to the beginning of IBM's introduction of the desk top. I evolved with all of the progress however my 13 year old grandson is probably more computer literate than I am ! Never the less my current question pertains to zipped files.

I installed Quicken to keep track of my personal finances. Two computers later the files appear to be scattered all over. My initial computer was an HP slimline with a pocket media external hard drive which plugged into the front. I used it to back up daily financial entries.

Subsequently I installed Windows 7 and immediately encountered problems. The files were saved on the pocket media hard drive.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new HP and connected the pocket media hard drive. A search of it reveals files in numerous places. Quite a mystery since I always used the same Quicken backup, feature for 2 or 3 years.

The pocket media capacity says I have 25 GB of free space on a 74.5 GB device. That's quite a mystery since I previously had much, much more free space. I have found Quicken files scattered all over the place. Some files, the bulk, are apparently zipped particularly 2009. When I try to open them I receive a message, access denies. This is on the new computer.

I'm asking how do I open these zipped files. Numerous attempts, help instructions and books haven't yet provided me with a solution.

Bill Tibbe

A:File locations and zip.

I would not know why your files were scattered in different locations on your hard drive, but I do know why you can't open them.

Since the drive was previously used on a different computer they are not owned by any real user, i.e. not by you if you are the only one using the machine. So, if you check the owner of the files, you will see a long string of numbers. The Windows on the old computer would interpret this string of numbers and show your old username, but the new Windows is unaware of that. So, to open the files you have to take ownership.

To do that, right-click on the files, go to properties, then security tab, then advanced, then owner tab. There you change the owner to yourself. You can do that with whole directories, but then check the box to propagate permissions to child objects. Once owner - and you'll have to close and reopen the properties - then go back to advanced, add yourself as a user and assign full permissions to yourself. Then you'll have full access to the files.

Hope this helps.

I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in:, but a problem has developed. The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. Since I can't copy it, it appears that I am screwed, no? Or is there a way out somehow?

Thanks to anyone who's been there and can help...

BTW I have the XP installation disk that came with, and a diagnostics disk which I have not yet run.

Never mind, I had it wrong--didn't read the document referred to above carefully enough. The procedure worked like a charm, and the document is very easy to read and entertaining to boot! (pun intended).

The document describes a procedure that closely follows a Microsoft KB document (which I now can't find) but does not contain any warning regarding whether the OS is an OEM (original equipment manufacture) install or not. The Microsoft doc says not to use the procedure on an OEM-installed OS, but I just did it on my Dell, so that warning seems to be incorrect.

A:Error copying file or folder; cannot copy img the directory or file cannot be created

This has caught me more than once.

The problem is a limitation on the number of files and folders allowed in the root folder of a FAT16 file system (as for a memory card) of 512. (Note, this number is reduced much further if longer file names than 8 characters are used, as most people will want to).

When transferring the files onto the card, new files will be rejected when you hit this limit.

So keep your files in separate folders, so they are not all in the root folder.

For files and folders in root it might be worth keeping your filenames under 8 characters in length so you can use the full 512 files on root folder.

Cannot Copy File: Cannot Read from the Source File or Disk

I searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base and came up with only one article, Q224378. This article seems not to apply to my situation because it applies to Windows 2000 Server. I am running Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2. I did attempt to install the fix that article Q224378 suggested anyway; but, I got an error message that I was attempting to upgrade a program that didn't exist on my system.

I have also learned that this error applies when copying from either of my SCSI CD-ROM drives, not when copying from hard disks or floppies.

Hey guys I just joined up, was wondering if you could help with a problem I'm having at work.

I was moving and sorting some folders on the server yesterday, and I moved many folders without any problems (with the exception of a couple folders which were in use as I moved them). However, I get a shout from a girl in my office whose folder moved without any problems.

Turns out some of her files are missing, a couple of word and excel documents. Nothing came up to say there was a problem transferring the folder so I'm pretty sure it wasn't at that stage something went wrong.

The files are showing up NOT in explorer, but when you File -> Open in word they are showing as present.

It's strange, I've researched it and all I could find were people saying "edit the registry" but as it was done away from her computer, does anyone have ANY idea what could have happened or how I could fix this?

Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

• I have a network directory that stores photos of individuals in jpg format. There may be only 2 pics of each person, or there may be 7 pics.

I have the game 'Crysis' on two backup DVD's. I had to put the installation files in a .rar and split them so I could back it up (I downloaded the game digitally from EA)

So when I insert disk 1 and try to copy 'Crysis.part1.rar' to D:/Crysis (D: is my data drive, C: is strictly the OS and maybe 2 or 3 applications installed on it) it copies most of it, but when it gets to '5 seconds remaining' it comes up with this error. It takes like 6 minutes to copy it and then it errors out when it's almost done! I've tried 3 times and the error popped up every time. The disk is spotless... I mean it looks brand new. Not even a speck of dust or any smudges at all.

Why am I getting this error?? I don't know what to do! If I can't copy it I'll have to redownload the entire 6gb installation package from EA, which will take probably 4-5 hours.

Please help!

Additional file info from within the error window:
"Can't read from the source file or disk."
Name: Crysis.part1.rar
Size: 4.37gb (4,588,544KB)
Date Modified: 11/2/2009 12:25PM

Other additional info:
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have all the latest updates via Windows Update
There is only one account on this computer, mine, and it has full administrative privileges

I'm currently using Richcopy to move about 4TB worth of data from our colo facility (1000 miles away) to our office. And that data also gets routed overseas first before coming back (don't ask). Needless to say, connectivity while not bad, could be better.

The small files are zooming right along, the issue is the larger files (the ones that are hundreds of MB or even several GB).

From time to time, I briefly lose network connectivity for a second or two, when that happens, the files currently being copied abort and once connectivity is restored, Richcopy just moves on to the next files. So when Richcopy advertises that it 'resumes', it seems it is talking about resuming a file copy queue, and not resuming partially copied files. Those have to start over from the beginning.

Is there a tool similar to Richcopy with the functionality I'm looking for?

Every time I open a file from the application or try to save a combined file it points to "My Documents" and I have to walk through many hierarchies to get to the desired folder. Does anyone know how to change the default file locations in Acrobat? (similar to doing it in WORD through the file locations tab in tools->options, or the general tab in EXCEL).

Better yet - how can I add a favorite location to the set of icons that appear on the left side of the Open or Save-As dialog window?

Hi everyone.
I've trawled the Microsoft community but I can't find a decent solution, and I've been pulling my hair out.

I've recently started using Outlook 2010 (Pro) to gather my new job's work emails.

In Outlook I added my main work email, "[email protected]" to my profile. Great. The default .pst file location is "C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Outlook Files" which is what I wanted, although it created another .pst file named in "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook". The email works great but the default .pst file stays the same size, 265Kb, so its not changing as I send and receive emails.

Then I add another work email, "[email protected]". It creates another .pst, again in the AppData folder.
A 3rd email account is added, again creating a 3rd .pst file in AppData.

(1)I want all my .pst files in the default directory, "C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Outlook Files".
As per Microsoft's instructions, if I want to move a .pst file, I first shutdown Outlook, move the file, then relaunch Outlook, which will complain it can't find the .pst file and prompt me to select a file to open - except this just recreates .pst files with numbers in brackets afer the name, all in the original AppData folder. This then messes up the email configuration which results in send/receive errors.

I have even tried to change them under the Mail applet in Control Panel.

(2)I cannot change the default .pst... Read more

A:Outlook 2010 file locations

You seem to be trying to do something that is not supported by Outlook. In my Outlook 2013 the .pst files are stored under Documents/Outlook which seems the same as yours.
But there is no Data File shown in my Account settings, only my email accounts.
It seems that you may be trying to set up Data Files as an email account.

You may not agree, but I don't think you can achieve what you want as the .pst files can only be opened in Outlook so having a separate data file is probably going to cause conflicts.

I'd like to take all the share and privilege information for Suzie and give them to Tom.
Can do?

In 2007 I cannot find this facility, I have to navigate to the correct directory over and over again.

I must be missing something very basic, can somebody please help me out?

In Word 2000 under Insert Hyperlink, Word maintains a listing of recent files or browsed pages that you can use to insert hyperlinks into your document.

Is there someway to "flush" that list, when it become so long or so outdated as to begin to lose utility for the end-user? There must be some way to do that, since I noted that my files list (either at home or work) recently was zeroed out in the last couple of weeks or months.

A:Deleting File Locations Under Insert/Hyperlink in Word 2000

Okay, we have at least a partial answer to this question. Apparently if you flush your recently visited internet page history from your default browser, you will simultaneously delete the recently browsed pages under Insert > Hyperlink in Word 2000.

We're still in the hunt for information on how to deleted a list of the file locations that is also retained under Word 2000. Other entries?

My first post here.

My question is about how I can set permissions for the users on a network of 3 x computers that all have Windows 7 Home edition to share folders.

Here?s what I?ve got. Three computers, each have 2 x users. The 2 users are 1 x Manager (Admin rights) and 1 x employee (User rights). On one of the computers I have folders which I?d like to share (read / write) with the managers, whilst there are only a few that I?d like to share with the employees.

So basically I have all business data stored on ?PC1? and I want the manager login on PC2 and PC3 to be able to view these folders. Restricted access for the employees.

Is there anyway I can do this ? I?ve been looking at Homegroups / Workgroups, but it seems I can either share with everyone or no-one.

If this is not possible, is there something I can do with an external hard drive or something else ? Or maybe I need a plan B ?

As a compromise, I?d be prepared to do ?plan B?.

Plan B would be:

PC1 has only 1 x user (Manager) and has all the data for the business in several folders.

PC2 has only 1 x user (Manager) and has access to ALL the folders on PC1

PC3 has only 1 user (Employee) and has access to a limited number of folders on PC1.

How would I plan B ?

Thanks in advance,

A:File Sharing and restricting between multiple users on multiple PC's

I'm not so sure about this working with Windows Home version because it's limited in certain areas like creating a Homegroup though it can join a Homegroup.

Here is the deal on separate shares for particular users. You need to add those users as standard accounts on which ever machine you need to set up the special shares for.

Once you add them to your machine as a standard user they will show up on the Share With list in the Homegroup permissions settings, at that point you can add them them and adjust the permissions as desired. It's really as simple as that.

I have a backup script I created using Robocopy to always keep a fresh backup of some of my most important data but just noticed one of my files fails to be copied to my backup disk.

The file in question is a executable file called LTL.exe and is a small utility that is part of a scenery add-on product for Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

I've also tried copy this file manually in Explorer by right-clicking the file and then choosing Copy-Paste and although I don't get any error message doing this and the copy process seems to be successful the file never ends up at the destination.

I'm running Win 7 x64 Ultimate and I have UAC disabled (not that it should be important since I'm not trying to copy the file into a system folder) and I'm local administrator on my PC. I've also tried taking ownership of this specific file and double and triple-checking I have full control for this specific file looking at the security tab.

I am using windows 7.

A:cannot copy file

Go here to download Ubuntu 10.04 ( There is a newer version, but I am going by my existing setup, so follow along and choose 10.04 ) Save the iso file.

Then download ImgBurn from here:

Install ImgBurn and run it.

Choose "Write Image to Disc"

At the top of the Imgburn window, where it says "Source" click on the folder with maginfying glass icon; Then navigate to where you saved the ISO file.

Then click on the bottom area of the window depicting hd write to CD.

That should create the CD.

Now you want to boot with the CD on your PC. Check your BIOS so that it chooses to boot using the CD first. You are looking for the Boot menu, boot priority, or something along that line.

Once you boot into Ubuntu, pull down the Places pull down menu. Choose the ## GB Filesystem. That would be your hard drive. You will be able to see all folders in your drive. Now copy off the files you want to a USB memory stick.

I recently bought a Lexar 4 GB jump drive intending to use it as a backup for a documents folder with 3 GB of data.

When I try to copy the folder, the copying starts but a second or two later I get a message "Error Copying File or Folder---Cannot Copy File".

A Lexar technician went through various operations and tests (including reformatting) with me and his conclusion is that one or more of the files is/are corrupted. (We tried to copy the folder to my C drive and got the same error message.)

There are a lot of sub-folders and I suppose I could go through one by one and find which ones won't copy but is there a simpler way of locating the file(s) that are corrupted and correcting them?

Thanks so much!

A:Cannot copy file

Well, I don't know about a "much simpler way", but you don't have to go thru one by one. Basically, you can select half of the folders >copy and paste > if it goes thru fine, then it's not in that half.

So you're left with the "other" half, just select half of that...well, you get the picture.

That's basically what I did when I was trying to locate a corrupted video file. It didn't take too long.

allow the file to be copied. Makes me wonder how I got the file in the first place. I tried zipping the file using
winrar and that failed. I'm running win xp pro with sp1.
I also tried closing zone alarm and my avirus prog, still
no go.

Can anyone help me with info on how to move this file?
Not only that but i find its always a problem when moving a bunch of progs\files from one place to another. One or 2 files wont copy over. Sometimes a reboot will fix the problem, other times it won't.

I always check and make sure the files aren't "read only" so that isn't the issue. I am really getting frustrated with this problem and would appreciate any help.

Thank you

Friends: Somehow my favourite screensaver got deleted and I am trying to copy it from another PC. I copied the .SCR file from this PC to a floppy, but when I try to copy this file onto the System32 directory I keep getting the message it cannot be copied. Any ideas how I can fix this? The website I got the screensaver from is no longer available. Windows XP Pro. Thanks for any help.

A:Cannot copy .SCR file

The only thing I can think of is permissions. Are you trying to do this from an admin account and do you have any security software that might be blocking system folders from access?

Also, can you copy it off the floppy somewhere else first like your documents, and then try moving it to System32?

i recently copied and pasted a quickbooks 2007 company file, in the quicken world its a .qbw
even though i only selected the .qbw the operation resulted in 2 files being copied, the .qbw i selected and a .qbw.nd
the .qbw.nd is self described as a 'quickbooks configuration' file.
i was just wondering how this happens? from somewhere, somehow, the copy utility knows that when copying file 'x' to also copy file 'y'
is this a windows feature or somehow done by intuit?

A:copy 1 file get 2

Those are created by Quickbooks. It is a Network Descriptor, it is basically a file to help Quickbook users on a network access the Quickbooks file.

I have a licensed copy of XP running in XP Mode on a Win 7 Pro machine. I have seen instructions on the net for getting Hyper V up and running where I can create a new XP Mode VHD file, but, I would like to copy my own file from my Win 7 Pro machine (because it contains the key XP software that I want to keep running for another year or two).

Replacing that old software should probably be Plan "A" but it's only Plan "B" at this point (or possibly Plan "C").

I recently backed up a Microsoft Access file. I formatted my domputer and reinstalled all software. I am trying to copy the file back to it's source directory. I am getting this Error messeage. (Cyclic Redundancy Check) Is there another way to copy this file to where I need.

Thanks Tim

A:File Copy

A CRC problem means that either the original file was corrupt or the archived one is corrupt. You should always check the backup logs after you complete your backup. I think you might be out of luck.

A:gif file copy

Right click on the image and do a "save as" to your hard disk. You can import that image into Word.

FWIW, I just right clicked on a graphic on a web page and selected "copy" from the drop-down menu, I was able to paste that image into a Word 2007 document.

I have just bought a new keyboard (Saitek Eclipse), and very nice it is too, but I cannot get it to work, since Device Manager tells me I need a copy of kbdhid.sys. I know this can be found on XP SP2, but I don't have a hard copy of this, since I downloaded SP2 from Windows Update, originally.

Does anyone know where I can download a copy of this file for free, please?

Any help most gratefully received, coz I am sitting here looking at noo keyboard and I can't damned well use it!!

Many thanks!

A:Need a copy of a .sys file

Do you still have the SP2 install file that you downloaded?
You can extract all of the files in the service pack using something like WinRAR.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site, I have a problem and I hope you guys can help me out.

I usually backup my weeks work on Friday afternoons. What I do is run a "search" for all files created or modified within the last 7 days and then "copy" all relevant files to a folder on an external hard drive, and then burn a CD.

Everynow and then, I get the following message. "Cannot Copy File: Cannot Read From the Source File or Disk"

Do you guys know why this happens? There are no problems with me copying and dragging files individually over to the new folder, but the problem arises when i copy a bunch over.

Last night, I ended dragging my entire work folder (21GBs) onto the external hard drive. It took a few hours, but it worked.

This morning, I was able to run a search for all documents and files that were created or modified over the past week. But when I tried to copy only those files to a separate folder I again ran into this error message.

Does anybody out there know what's going on? Or better yet, does anyone out there have a better way of backing your week's work?

Thomas Lee

A:Cannot Copy File

Microsoft Word (for example) locks current temporary files (in your C:\Documents & Settings\{your username}\Local Settings\Temp file and may not allow you to copy them.

When "Copy", "Move", or "Delete" runs across these files, it quits the operation.

Other programs may have "locked files" in other locations.

If you are on XP and if you want a simple backup, use Windows' NTBACKUP. Just go to your START menu, choose RUN and type in NTBACKUP. Be sure to look at the "options" settings.

It provides for full backups; differential backups (all files changed since last full backup); incremental backups(all files changed since your last incremental backup) and for copy (just a copy - doesn't set archive bits.

I'm sure others will reply with comments of their favorite backup programs.

Although I can copy small files from my Win7 machine to my wife's XP, copying larger files consistently results in the error: 'There is a problem accessing (the particular target dir) Make sure you are connected and try again"

Anyone know what could be causing this problem?

A:Copy file to XP

Hi, this problem is probably caused by an inconsistent WiFi connection.

It could be on either computer.

Make sure the network drivers are are all completely upto date on both of your PCs and then try again.

Post back with any results.

Hello Cando,

Since the Family Pack copy of Windows 7 comes with a product key number for up to 3 computers, then yes you can install and activate on 3 different computers located anywhere using a different key number per computer.

Without intoducung the need for major IT support what is the easiest way to have something similar to Outlook 2003 Small Buisnedd Edition shared over multiple sites.

We have an office in Canberra and Sydney. I would like to use all the functions such as prospects, account management, notes, reporting and e-mail linkling.

It would be good to be able to do this from anywhere.

I am not hung up on SBE and would consider Excange. I wan't to avoid making it complicated if it is not necessary.

Our website is currently hosed by Alentus and our ISP is local.

Try ISOBuster instead. It's fast, powerful and reliable. I've used it to recover data from damaged CDs and DVDs that couldn't be read by Windows.
