Do you run an AV program? I would suggest checking for a virus/infection.

I have a situation that UAC must be disabled in order to use a web based application features like merging data into MS Word, uploading/downloading within this application. I disabled UAC using GPO to all machines but for the next person
that will log on to the same computer the function of the web application mentioned will not work until the user goes to the Ctrl Panel > User Accounts > User Account Control and click OK on the warning message that says 'This setting will
take effect after you click OK and reboot' . I have like 1200 computer to manage and this causing big problem.

How can I automate using maybe GPO or pushing a register entry or anything you can think to turn off UAC
without a reboot required or even to do auto reboot after the GPO is applied. When this yellow exclamation in Ctrl Panel is ON with a message 'This setting will take effect after you click OK and reboot'  the application will
not work.
This 3rd part vendor are unable to make this application work while UAC is ON and I wonder how other application makers make their app work while UAC is ON.
Thanks you for your help.

I have Win 7 Home Premium.

Is there an easy way to disable my wireless connection so that (a) it does not enable itself after a reboot, and (b) I don't need to implement the complete process to re-enable the wireless?

Under normal circumstances, the re-enable after a reboot is fine. I can disconnect WiFi from the system tray, and it reconnects after reboot.

But sometimes, I might want wireless to remain disabled after reboot. For example, if I'm doing a database restore, and the database starts synching after a reboot (such as Evernote), it could cause problems :-)

At the moment, I simply switch off the router until the database restore is complete.

A:How to turn off WiFi so that it does not re-enable after reboot?

Just don`t let it connect.

Doesn`t the laptop have an on off switch for wireless ? Most laptops do.

i have a philips freevent x53 laptop its only 6 months old . but it crashed and wont load up . it keeps going on to the screen where you choose safe mood ect . it wont go no further then that . ive tryed rebooting and that doesnt work . i have a reboot disc to but it wont read the disc .
any help ?

A:my laptop wont turn on or reboot

You may need to go into your laptop's BIOS and change the boot order, as soon as you turn your laptop on, look for an option similar to "Press Del to enter Setup".

When you see the option, let the laptop run to the point where it doesn't go any further and reboot it. This time, keep pressing the button you saw earlier - it could be either Del, F2 or any number of keys.

This should load your laptop's BIOS screen. Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, navigate around - being careful not to change any of the options - until you find a section or menu called "Boot Order" or something similar. What you then need to do is fix it so that the CD-ROM drive is above your hard drive in the order, the exact key commands will probably be displayed to you in some kind of help section of the screen.

When you've done this, reboot with the CD in the drive and it should start. If not, try the CD in another computer (just starting up from the CD alone will not do anything to the computer). If it starts and shows a blue "Windows Installation" screen, there's a more serious problem with your laptop.

If this is the case, I would personally recommend sending it back to Philips (or wherver you got it from) and getting it looked at under warranty. Laptop warranties are usually good for a year unless you've dropped it or spilled something on it.

Hope this helps a bit

Hi All,
When my system is booting everything is fine, i see all the pics and sound and etc. if i try to do a restart my monitor goes into power saving mode and then does not awake from it.

i have connected a dell net book and confirmed that the on the restart that the monitor comes out of the power saving mode.

1.I have run the OS in diagnostic start up to find out if any software might actually do something
2. I have removed every usb item except the mouse and the keyboard
3. I have taken out the VGA card for one boot and then put it in back again.
4. I have connected the DVI cable to a different ports ( first and second)
5. I have started the system with win 7 drivers but still the same problem.
6. I have installed latest nvidia drivers 258.96

nothing is working

honestly.... What am i doing wrong here ?

ps. Monitor model is LG M2394 D

I've been getting MANY problems with my computer freezing up on start up whenever I try to turn it on. I'm on a Windows XP Home, Asus k8v delux mobo, Corsair dual 256 Mb RAM, and AMD Athlon 64 3200+

The problem is when it starts up, it's different everytime how it happens...sometimes it happens immediately, sometimes it happens when trying to open programs in the early stages of logging on windows, sometime it happens at logon screen, sometimes it happens 5 minutes after being logged on...but the computer just...freezes...not like your typical freeze, where stuff still runs in the background (like music) kinda just dies but stays on...the biggest tell tale sign is the mouse stops working...I use an optical mouse, and the light just goes off...IT's not the mouse because I can't type either...and the fact that programs cease to run anymore. Sometimes it doesn't even lock up...sometimes I get a BSoD, and other times when I boot up, I don't even get to the Motherboard's logo screen...what should be a quick 5 minute or less process, stretches out to close to 20 minutes because it happens numerous's very frustrating and I'm not sure if it's a problem with Windows, or problem with processor, or problem with motherboard...It's a situation I'd like to resolve and would appreciate any help I could get.

you are infected with a virus

winxp.exe is a process which is registered as [email protected]\r "This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and comes in the form of an e-mail message, in the hopes that you open its hostile attachment.\r" The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers E-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself.\r "In worst cases this worm can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data.\r" This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system.

I'm a newbie to this forum. Just got a new HP Pavilion d6500t with installed Vista Ultimate x64. Has been tough going, but was scraping by until today. I installed Quickbooks (via download) and transferred my data files from my old pc to the new pc. Things seemed fine...then BAM!

The screen became "jumpy" and I received a number of error messages. Could not bring up Task Manager, so I had to shut down the pc manually (turned it off). Reboot involved a system check because of the manual shut-down. System check was fine...but, now my pc is frozen on a black screen with the hp logo in the middle. My choices are the usual: Press <ESC> to enable startup message, <F1> to enter System information...etc.

MY PROBLEM: I cannot go ANYWHERE from here. The F-keys are not responding AND I cannot even manually shut off the pc!

I am a total novice when it comes to pc systems. I need help DESPERATELY. Any suggestions out there?

I've an ongoing problem which is now very annoying.
At any given time my PC will turn itself off. It's not a controlled shutdown, it's literally as if someone has pulled the power supply. There's no blue screen and I just can't work out what the problem is.
If you then try to turn the PC on after this failure it won't. The fans whir and the lights come on but there are no beeps on start up and nothing is displayed on my monitor.
I can then get the PC to work by removing the power cable completely, waiting 30 seconds and then attempting to turn back on.
Generally it seems to happen during my syncing of my mp3 player, whilst media player is converting to say WMA format. Or during a compression of a ZIP file. It appears to be through cpu intensive applications. It will also do it on occasions during a full virus scan (Mc Afee INternet Security)
I had major problems a few months back as the "failure" corrupted the boot segment of my drive - which fortunately I was able to recover.
The PC is often on most of the day but during light use or sitting idly by it seems to have no problems.
THere are so many options of what could be at fault - memory, power supply, cpu, bad driver. I don't know where to start.
Is there a way I can create a log of activity to try and see what's causing this? I'd like to start logging of anything useful, start a media sync and see what happens.
My system details are:
Pc: Built system. Mobo: Asro... Read more

Minor but annoying problem here.

I have 2 external 300GB hard drives (IDE type) connected via USB. Let''s call them D drive and E drive.

Well, let's say that I have them both turned on while my system is on and for some reason I have to reboot my system. Well, once my system is rebooted and up and running again I can start using D drive right away. But if I want to use the E drive, I have to turn the drive off then back on again in order for the system to recognize the drive after the system reboot.

It's always been this way ever since I got the drives about 8 months ago or so. I only now just decided to post about it since it's only a minor annoyance.

Anyone know why the D drive is ready to use after a system reboot without having to turn it off then on again whereas the E drive isnot?

Would love the E drive to behave like the D drive, of course.

I have a RemoteApp server setup (Windows 2012 R2) with SSO enabled. This RemoteApp server is for internal use only. I have no issues with any of my clients running Windows 7 or above. On Windows XP however, I can only connect to the RemoteApp session once
and then I get the error An authentication error has occurred (Code: 0xc00002fd). If I reboot the PC, it will again work once and then get the error.
The other thing we discovered is that when you first close the RemoteApp session, the mtsc.exe process remains active for 30 seconds or so. As long as that is active, I can re-enter the RemoteApp session multiple times. The moment I kill that process, I
get the error and must reboot.
I'm pretty sure something is being cached on the client side, but every lead I have found has not resulted in a resolution.
Anyone have any ideas? (Btw, "get off of XP" is not an option at this time. lol)
Any assistance would be great.

A:Upon Reboot I Get An Error

You have a broken program file. When a file of the program (assuming a file of JAVA) is removed/becomes corrupted/maybe moved somewhere else, then the process (JAVA) may not start. Try to reinstall Java. You don't need to restore for this, try to reinstall JAVA and see what happens.
When I couldn't get rid of an auto-start program I simply just deleted it and then at startup it said like 0xexample error code, couldn't find file/start something. So it's not a Windows error and nothing serious.

Hi All

I bought a new computer recently with no OS and no graphics card. I got the computer up and running, but there is a problem with it which I am unsure how to fix. The system is as follows:

INTEL® CORE® 2 DUO E6600 (2 X 2.40GHZ) 1066mhz FSB/4MB Cache

USB Options

Hard Drive 1
SATA II 320 GB HARD DISK @ 7200rpm 8mb cache

Graphics Card 1

Network Facilities

Floppy Disk Drive

Power Supply & Cooling
500W (Peak) Super Quiet Dual Rail PSU + 120mm fan & CPU Cooler

The computer runs ok most of the time, but it suffers from a problem that only seems to occur when I am playing a game. It can happen after ten minutes or ten hours after the computer was switched on, no matter what point I am in or what I am doing in a game, but the computer just reboots itself. I disabled this function to get an idea of why it is doing this, and the blue screen shows the error signature:

I just hand built my new PC and it took me a while to get everything right, but now there's just one problem left. As soon as I get a screen saying choose your options to enter windows safe mode etc., after I choose safe mode the computer hangs for a second and then I see a flash of a blue screen and then my PC reboots time after time, never fails. The drive I have set as primary master has worked well for over a year, so I don't know what's wrong. Thanks in advance...

A:New PC Reboot Error

Hello and welcome...

Did you build this PC, take a hard drive from another machine that already had an OS on it, and try to run it?

If so... there are often many complications with the OS and the motherboard (all the hardware, chipset, etc. etc.) People have gotten it to run before, but 90% of the time its best to do a fresh install of your Operating system.

Today after schooling, I got home, started up my laptop (Lenovo G50), every time I put in my password, it would load and freeze. So I decided to to system refresh. It worked. Then I wanted to factory reset, to remove the possible files that are causing the problems, and to just plainly clear up space. So after its done resetting, I put game me the option to upgrade to Windows 10, I accepted, although it put me back in Windows 8.1 home screen. The home screen wasn't normal, it was very disfigured. Almost nothing appeared but the Windows icon bottom left of homebar. Clicked it it brought me to the menu which was also not visible. I try reseting the power on PC. It says a reboot error. I try using the F2 command, says no HD is readable or recognizable. But now there is a grinding sound coming right center of PC. The PC was healthy. But today it had a spasm . I need help. Can't afford a new one.

First off; it sounds like the HDD might be faulty. Secondly; did you check with Lenovo website for your make/model laptop before making the jump to windows 10 to see if there was any driver support first?

at least once a month my computer will reboot itself when i get into windows and i'll recieve the same error message. when i send the error report to microsoft i get forwarded to this same page everytime. i check my computer for spyware and malware everyday and haven't found anything. or any viruses. i've also used the online scanners like panda and such that haven't found anything either. so i have no idea what keeps causing this error. please help!

A:reboot and error message

Xiah, What is the error message you're receiving? Do you have your computer configured to generate error reports? You can do this by going to Start>Control Panel>System, click Advanced Tab>Startup and Recovery, click Settings under Write Debugging Info select Complete Memory Dump. Make sure that the box Overwrite any existing file is checked. Click OK all the way out.
When the error message pops up again you can send it to MS. You can always revert back to not reporting error reports once MS has helped. If you can catch the error message before sending to MS let us know what it says someone might be able to help.

I am having a problem with my PC at home. I uninstalled Zone Alarm (v4.5 I think) and it said it needed to reboot to complete the uninstallation. As soon as the PC rebooted, there was a message saying CheckSum error: CPU settings changed, Defaults loaded. Press Del to enter Setup, save changes, F1 to continue. I know very little about the BIOS settings. I did press Del, but I don't know what would have changed so quit without saving. I pressed F1 to continue and Windows XP loaded fine and I installed the newer version of Zone Alarm (v5.1 I think).

Again it said it needed to reboot to complete the installation. PC shut down, but it didn't reboot. Now nothing happens when I switch on. My flatscreen monitor is showing the message: No Video Input. I have tried another monitor and that didn't work either.

I have opened the case and the fan is working, a light comes on on the motherboard (next to the memory), both CD and DVD-ROM drives are working and the hard drive light on the front flashes. The motherboard (a DFI Infinity model, 865PE I think), power unit, processor (P4 2.8 GHz), 140GB hard drive and video card (Radeon 9600) were all installed last April so I am hoping nothing needs replacing. Nothing is overclocked.

I have been using Zone Alarm as my firewall, I have AVG Antivirus and run Ad-aware scans regularly. I also have Spyware Blaster installed.

I have had a quick look on the net and it seems the problem could be caused by the battery, motherboa... Read more

A:CheckSum error, now PC won't reboot

Good Morning

Try locating the CMOS clear jumper on the motherboard. It's usually located near the flat battery. With the power off (unplugged), move the jumper from pins 1&2 to 2&3, the back to 1 and 2. Not all boards have this jumper so it you can't find it post back.

Look in this link under "Motherboard Jumpers"

I am having the same problem, but I need to approach it differently.  It's for an old version of HP that is not longer primarily being used.  The printer scanner is still hooked up so it can be used as a scanner, but the new printer/scanner is elsewhere in the house, so I don't want to delete the old one and have to go to the new one every time somethign needs scanning. And I don't want to re-install the software because it's not needed.  In fact, the tray app was never used to begin with.  It was just one of those annoying things HP gave you. So, is there a way to simply stop the trayapp.mis from coming up on every reboot without re-installing the software?  Operating on: Vista.Edit: Topic split from Error Trayapp.msi Comes On Every Reboot to get the attention it needs on it's own. ~ Animal

My friend is using his computer as an HTPC. It has 2 drives and the boot drive is split into 2 partitions. I was 'upgrading' his XP (was on C: volume) to XP-MCE and there was a failure of some sorts... Anyway, I decided to just do a clean install onto that partition.

As background, I have a 500 GB SATA on channel 1 and a 250 GB SATA on channel 2. The 500 GB is split into 2 partitions (both were originally setup as primary), a ~70 GB NTSF boot partition that had XP and a ~400 GB FTA32 storage partition.

I deleted the old boot partition and started installing XP-MCE into the now unallocated space. After the reboot to continue installation it stops after post with "Disk error" and "Press any key to restart" messages. If I boot to the install disk again it shows the storage space as C: and the new installation as D: (opposite of pre-reinstall). I retried with the 2nd SATA drive disconnected and it's the same every time.

I found this other thread -
but it was in respect to 2 drives rather than 2 partitions on the same drive.

I can't reformat the whole drive; the storage partition has all the backup data that I saved from the original XP installation.

I'm stuck. My only option is if there's something I need to remove from the storage partition, I would accept reformatting my other 250 GB drive, installing XP, taking care of business whil... Read more

Hello, I am trying to fix my girlfriends Sony VAIO. Shes running it on XP and according to her; she went to sleep with AIM open and running. I've never actually sat at her computer to know what kind of anti-virus software she has running. But she says when she woke up, her desktop had gone to strictly her wallpaper, as if explorer.exe had crashed and closed whatever programs she had open as well. Anyones normal reaction to this is just restart it. She did so, and before she can boot into windows or even get a chance to log in to her computer an error message pops up.

"Parser Error"

"Value creation failed " at line 903" (That " in the middle of the sentence belongs there)

When I try to boot in safe mode, recovery mode, debug mode, or any other one of the options at boot it doesn't get anywhere except to that error message.

Im assuming she got infected with a trojan, but she has a paper that she had finished and not printed yet on her computer. Anyone have any insight on how to A) Get to a console so I could atleast copy that file off her computer B) How to fix this?

A:Parser Error after reboot.

First of all, getting the file off the system..... If the computer has a floppy drive, download NTFS4DOS (direct download link) from Boot from this and it will allow you to copy the file to disk. If the file is too large, you may need to get a zip-style program onto the computer which can either compact the file or split it into separate chunks.

Secondly, getting the system working again. I would suggest running an in place upgrade. First of all, do you have an XP CD? Failing that, is there an i386 folder on the hard drive of the machine? If you have the CD, follow these instructions:
Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer.
When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears on the screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
NOTE: You may need to set the boot device priority in the system BIOS to get this to work.
You receive the following message on the Welcome to Setup screen that appears:

This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

So my system was working perfectly ok for the last couple of weeks, installed a brand new HDD some weeks ago, transfered all the system files, and like i said, all was working fine, no crashes, no error messages.

Today, i was working on forwarding a port on my D-link 604 router, all was going on as normal, i hadn't made any weird changes to anything other than the router configuration, which is all done via browser,so again, no weird changes to the registry or anything like that.

Ok, so then, all of the sudden, the system rebooted, and as i logged in, i got this message saying that "C:AllUsers\ApplicationData\exezidyb.dll" could not be found, and little after that, the system reboots again.

I have gone into safe mode and tried doing system restore, i choose a date, and hit"Next" but nothing happens, "last known working configuration" doesn't work either.

I am currently logged in with the "Directory Services" option, but i want to resolve this without having to go to the people at bestbuy who will just tell me that they need to erase everything and reinstall windows like they have done everyone i know.

Any advice?

Added info:

Now, once i log on any of the normal modes, i don't get the same error message, i turned off"automatic reboot upon system failure" and now i get a blue screen that reads
STOP:0x0000008E C0XC0000005, 0x804EB951, oxEC7F5814, 0x00000000

Good morning,

I was getting this a lot until eventually I was getting a new error. Forgot what it said and I'm on my phone since I had to leave home. But the error I was told meant the hard drive would die soon

So now I'm getting that error before I received the deadly one. Reboot and select proper boot device.

So before I had to leave today I noticed my cable. Don't know what it's called but it's next to the sata cables that are plugged in the hard drives on the motheboard. I assume it's to power the hard drives. It's next to the big cable that powers the motherboard.
Should I get a new hard drive?

I'm using an old hard drive on a new pc and this hard drive has tons of cables. Like double compared to my Bros pc. It works now when I readjust it. But the cable keeps coming out lose.

howdy and welcome. Yes, you need to get a new hard drive asap, and back your data up (if you want to keep it). If you don't have data you want to keep, just toss the old one and install a new one, then re-install the OS.

I saw in lots of posts and forums, saing that it maybe is a malware, but that malware is for windows xp, and not windows 7.
My OS is Windows 7, 64 bits, service pack 1.

COPY ERROR....Ive seen this posted before but cant get a responce on how to fix it so here goes..

Windows installer: Copy
The first screen: "preparing to install", and then next "please wait while windows configures copy", and then it reads "gathering required information".

The only button option available during this is "Cancel", so I have been clicking 'cancel'. As soon as I hit 'cancel', the installer automatically reappears, so I've been rapidly clicking cancel in order to get this to go away (it usually takes around 40-50 clicks for it to stop reappearing).

If I do not click cancel and let the installation continue, I get a series of error messages.

This is the first error message:
Error: 1705.A previous installation of this product is in progress. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?

If I click yes, I get the following errors (below are some of the error messages - there are others, and they are very similar):

Internal Error 2908: 5173355F-690F-4EF8-9A2E-913262EEA7BF

Hi there,

I have a Dell Inspiron N5040, and I'm looking to reset it to it's origional factory self.

I've followed the Ctrl + f8 command several times, but when "Repair your computer" appears and I select it, it then just starts my laptop up as normal. I'm assuming there's maybe something missing/faulty with my laptop? How would I go about fixing this?

I dread to over pay a computer technician, and as the laptop came with no discs, the thought of sighting making discs and downloading tons of programmes is daunting to me. I just want a quick fix, as this very laptop has been reset to factory state before, some time ago.

On a side note, and one of the reasons behind my inspiration to reset the laptop, my Final Draft programme is all of a sudden not opening my files. It takes me to an error message saying that I have to be an administrator to install the file, or something. Will it work if I uninstall/reinstall Final Draft?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have tried the following to recover from this problem:

1) Acronis 2016 true image rescue disc

2) Easeustodo v9.2 rescue disc

3) Windows 10 generated rescue disc

4) Windows installation from CD via an widows.iso file

Option 4 tried the hardest to boot with a long period of disc read before failing.

Sorry can?t include a debug log since cant get it to boot

Background (hopefully helpful)

Windows 10 was installed on this laptop in August 2015. Major problems with 100% disc utilization.(see note on 100% disk utilization at bottom)

After 2-3 months of frustration a clean install of Windows 10 solved problem

9 months later July 2016

Windows was up dated to version 10586.494 .

I was suddenly confronted with 100% disc utilization again (not sure how long after update)
I suspected antivirus since it was implicated in the original problem a year ago but never confirmed.

I did a full disc recovery using ACRONIS and brought back 10586.318 all seemed well.

I also changed to Panda antivirus from Avast and all seemed ok for a week or two.

I updated again to 10586.494

I started testing out EASEUSTODO v9.2 backup for a friend. It failed during backup with a system freeze (behaving like the disk utilization problem)

Thereafter continued reboots resulted in disk utilization problem.

I decided to try a recovery and now go back to top of page.

NOTE disk utilization problem results in a system freeze with windows not responding error. Using taskmanager... Read more

Hi guys,

I just reformatted and reloaded my PC running Windows XP MCE 2005.
I am able to connect to my Mybook World Edition drive. However, there appears to be no option to reconnect at logon. The checkbox is gone. I am forced to logon the next time I turn on my PC. I rebooted the MBWE thinking it was pulling one of it's tricks. No luck. I created a new user and got the same results.
What's going on? All the other computers on my network still connect as before.

Hi, erm i seem to get this suprise shut down every 10 mins or so, a blue screen flashes up then goes away.. i presume this means a driver is currupt/not upto date. im on xp home sp1. I have recently installed a wireless network, and i think it may have something to do with that/priter driver. How can i check or troubleshoot where the issue is.

Cheers, matt.

A:XP sudden Reboot/Shutdown Error.

You may want to make sure all your drivers are up-to-date. Go to the Device Manager and make sure all hardware is properly installed. You might want to do it in safe mode because it may shutdown again. Another thing is uninstall the wireless network, install SP2 and reinstall.

Ok, I posted a while back ago on a similar problem, or possibly the same problem. I hate to repost, or start a new thread, but it seems that this is the way it needs to be done. I thought I fixed it before. Well I didn''s back again... I have run and uploaded the SF_Diag Tool for someone to look at. This only seems to happen after a windows update then a Restart....for the most part...

I also ran Who Crashed and this is what it came up with:

On Tue 9/11/2012 7:37:54 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\091112-10483-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x4B09CC)
Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA800CBAC8F8, 0x0, 0x0)
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft? Windows? Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

Hi from not so sunny England...

I have an Acer Travelmate notebook with XP Tablet edition that has worked o.k for just short of a year (bought Nov 24th 2004) and recently has started throwing up the above named error message on startup.

I have done some research and one article I found blames Norton GoBack (which I am running) for this error and another one says it is a hard drive problem.

I have been able to use GoBack to retrieve my data, but I now have to restore the drive to a previous point every single time I start it up.

I have tried to recover the HD to factory defaults using the System Disks and it seems to work ok for a short while. But when I start to reload other software, the same problem recurs.

I will be grateful for any advice or assistance anyone can offer...

I just bought a new PC with Windows XP. As I was loading all the software, plus re-establishing my BellSouth FastAccess DSL connection with the installation CD (this was an existing account), I must have done something wrong because now, whenever I load XP, even with an empty CD drive, I get a dialog box on my desktop that says the following:

(Title of the box is "Fast Access Installation Wizard Reboot Helper.")
"Please wait while your CD drive becomes active. If your CD was removed, please insert it."

I don't have to insert a CD; I simply close the dialog box and everything's fine.

How do I get rid of this pesky dialog box? I don't understand what within "msconfig" I need to uncheck in order to resolve the problem.

Thanks for any advice.

A:CD reboot error message upon XP startup

Have you tried inserting the Fast Access Wireless installation CD and seeing if it does anything with it?

It sounds like the installation was not complete.

This is not a "Windows" message, per se, but something associated with that particular software install.

If it does nothing, try reinstalling the software and leave that CD in the drive through a reboot.

2 x 2.6 Xeon CPU
2 x 160gb SATA Western Digital Hard Drives - RAID
2 gb pc2700 DDR Ram
Supermicro 1u case/motherboard
Windows 2003 Standard Server

Here's the problem:
The server has been experiencing very inconsistant problems upon reboot. We're receiving the all so popular "REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE, OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SLECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS ANY KEY" error, but it's not happening every time the system loads up. This system is new and I can vouche that this is not anything to do with the OS since it's been present for both OS installs (XP + Win2003) since the birth of the server. The server randomly won't restart, then after a few retries it loads without a problem. Usually the problem exists only upon reboot, but last night we noticed that the system was unpingable and had crashed, when we called our datacenter for help they informed us of the current state the system was in with the above error. Since we've had this error before and usually can get past it by a few reboots, it's a tough call. Right now the box is down and we can't get it back up. We lost control of our remote card as well.

What we've tried so far:
Browsing around various forums, I notice this error is a common one, but everyone has their own situation. I've tried disabling the PXE in the bios and rearranging the boot device order. Also we've swapped the drives and the system loads fine. It's difficul... Read more

I recently ran the manufacturer's Restore Disks on a 5 year old WinXP desktop then updated to WinXP SP3 and reinstalled the same programs I had been running other than a switch from AVG antivirus to Avast. On reboot, I now sometimes, not always, receive this error "Load Error. Press a key to reboot". Pressing a key only regenerates the message. This occurs on the 4th boot screen which is the one which normally shows Windows starting. The first screen is mem check. The 2nd screen is black with various messages as usual. The 3rd screen is the Norton Goback screen. The 4th is where Windows normally starts but that is where the error message comes up. I am able to use GoBack to restore to an earlier point and get the machine running. It will then sometimes reboot normally, sometimes not. I will appreciate any and all help. Thank you.

A:Load Error. Press a key to reboot

Well as your reinstalling all these programs fresh they'll all want to update and while updating to SP3 may have caused the load error its probly caused by some new updates not getting along with others try restoring the computer and add the programs 1 by 1 and when u get problems youll know whats caasing them. You may need to keep older versions of some programs.

Hi folks,

Yesterday I installed W7 and all working ok. For resons I wont go into I decided that a re-install (as so little info was in the o/s) was easier than trying to solve admin/user issues.

Setup before re-install:
My HDD has 3 partitions and some unallocated space
Partition 1 - System Reserved 300 Mb (NTFS, Primary, Active)
Partition 2 - Windows 7 400 Gb (NTFS, Primary)
Partition 3 - Vista Image from another HDD 150 Gb (NTFS, Primary)
Unallocated space - approx 400 Gb

Prior to beginning the renstall W7 was stable and happy. I could also dual boot happily into Vista on the other partition using the Win boot menu.

Re-Instal Process:
Went into Partition Wizard Boot CD and then wiped both the Sys Reserved partition and the Windows 7 partition (i wrote 0's to both)
I then formated both of these partitions using PWBD
Lastly I ensured that the Sys Res partition was Active (which it still was from last time)
I then re-booted using the W7 install DVD
It went through the instal process quite happily until the first re-boot is needed.

At this point during the previous and sucessful installation on Sat, upon booting up it said 'press any key to boot ffrom DVD drive' so i left it and it then booted from the HDD and carried on with the W7 install for 5 more mins and was done.

However this time, I got the same message about booting from the DVD and again I left it and nothing happened. After 5 mins I gave up and hit a key and it just said disk read error and hung on a... Read more

My computer recently kept rebooting. When I disabled the reboot and got the BSOD it said it was a C000021a Fatal error at logon f 0xc0000034. I've read most of the solutions on here and have done the XP repair as if it were upgrading. I've done fixboot, chkdsk /P , chkdsk /R, but I haven't done Fixmbr. The reason is it says that my drive has a non-conforming name or something like that. My drives for the single HD that I split into two is F: and G: I had a C: drive go bad and then added the operating system on to my current one so I could rescue C: and could never switch it back to C: Will fixmbr ruin my HD for good? Also, I don't think it is the hard drive. It is a ATA but I tried a SATA drive that has XP on it and it comes up with the same error. I also have 4 GB of memory on a Gigabyte board that holds a Quad Core Pentium. Also, safe mode doesn't work it still reboots. When I did the pretend upgrade repair with the boot disk of XP it did let me get to the desk top before freezing with no icons and no task bar at all at the bottom. Now it won't even get back to that.

Any suggestions?

ok first you need to run chkdsk, you can do this by rclick on ur C: drive - properties - tools tab - error checking, 'check now', it will want to check after restart, restart ur pc.

next make sure ur antivirus is up to date and do a scan.

see if this helps, you could also reinstall your OS (windows) back up your files first

there are allot of things that can cause problems like this, hardware and software, uninstall anything that you have installed recently ie. before the problem started

I have had this issue for weeks and after countless hours of trying to fix it and figure out exactly what the problem is...I have now come to find some aid on this forum.

Quick Overview of the issue:
I constantly get a Blue Screen error (BSOD) when starting up Windows 7; it always happens after showing the "Starting Windows" Disk Image and always gives me the same BSOD error. I am only able to get back into Windows by running the Startup Repair Tool (sometimes it takes more than one time to repair and even maybe a system restore).

After the most recent BSOD, I wrote down the error message I got upon logging into windows. It stated a BCCode: 6b. I have no idea what that means...

I have tried running a chkdsk and an sfc /scannow but have had no luck with either of those. I really need some help with this.

Windows 7 Home Premium OS
Service Pack 1
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHZ 2.30GHz

Dear all,

I installed windows 7 32 bit version and after it worked fine for a couple days, I installed some software etc.

2.2 dual core AMD athlon processor
175 GB Harddisk SATA.
Creative audigy SE sound card
Geforce graphics card.
Couple years old, and windows 7 now installed for the first time.

And now suddenly it started saying "critical error in windows, windows is rebooting in 1 minute. Safe all your files"
And then it rebootes and then it gives the error again after around 30 seconds when it is in windows itself.

I have no idea what it is and the repair option didn't find the answer it said it is unsolvable via the repair function and it is an unknown problem.

How/where can I see why windows keeps rebooting?
And when I do a new system install, do I then keep my files or will the HD be formatted?

Also I can't get into safe mode via F8 and I just noticed when I unplugged the network cable for internet that I get a message from windows firewall that it asks if 80899.exe should be allowed, and I don't get the critical error now.
Already a virus in such a short notice?

Constantly also getting the error:
"80899.exe stopped working"

What was the software you installed exactly?

And does the same thing happen if you boot in to safe mode?

STOP 0x000000D1 (0x804E2F08,0x000000FF,0x00000001,0xF97EA90B)

ntndis.sys - Address F97EA90B base at F97EA000, DateStamp 44271923

I did a search for ntndis.sys and found information about W32/Forbot-GI, so I guess this is a worm.

I can't scan the computer to get rid of it because I can't get past the bsod stop error, I tried booting in safe mode but the start menu is gone, along with the system tray. The only thing I can do in safe mode is open task manager. I'm thinking about a complete restore, anyone got any better ideas?

A:Stop Error On Reboot Ntndis.sys

IMPORTANT NOTE: ntndis.sys is a Trojan/rootkit component. Backdoor/IRCBot Trojans are very dangerous because they provide a means of accessing a computer system that bypasses security mechanisms. Remote attackers use backdoor Trojans as part of an exploit to to gain unauthorized access to a computer and take control of it without your knowledge. If your computer was used for online banking or has credit card information on it, all passwords should be changed immediately to include those used for email, eBay and forums. You should consider them to be compromised. They should be changed by using a different computer and not the infected one. If not, an attacker may get the new passwords and transaction information. Banking and credit card institutions should be notified of the possible security breech. Although the backdoor Trojan has been identified and may be removed, your PC has likely been compromised and there is no way to be sure the computer can ever be trusted again. It is dangerous and incorrect to assume that because the backdoor Trojan has been removed the computer is now secure. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action is to reformat and reinstall the OS - "When should I re-format?". For XP users, the easiest thing is to do a System Restore and choose a restore point with a creation date before the date of infection. In your case it would be easier to use System Restore f... In the past week I've suddenly started having a lot of problems with my Gigabyte P35K-CF2 laptop (purchased in Dec 2013, OS Windows 8.1 64-bit). At any given time regardless of what I'm doing with it, the computer will freeze for a couple of minutes max. The mouse cursor still moves but I can't click anything and the keyboard won't respond.
In addition, during startup the computer may get stuck in a loop of errors and reboots (the errors include INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). The startup time has also increased significantly from when the device was new, from sub 10sec to around half a minute. Also, today when I figured a fresh re-install of Windows might help, Windows' reset feature complained that the required partition is missing.
I've always installed updates via Windows Update and Gigabyte's Smart Update, and have never deleted anything from the boot SSD's Windows folder. Up until now the laptop has been fantastic and I've really enjoyed using it, but now I'm at a complete loss. Please, can you help me get my laptop back into working condition?

EDIT: Just now I had a BSOD with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (iaStor.sys), could this be a hint of what needs to be done?

A:Freezes and error/reboot loops

Hello,Please see my previous question "Freezes and error/reboot loops" for the development of my current situation, which has gone from bad to worse. In short, the laptop (Gigabyte P35K-CF2) was constantly freezing and/or showing BSOD either during booting or when Windows was already running. A couple of times the BSODs specifically mentioned iaStor.sys, but mostly it was just inaccessible boot device or irql not less or equal. I couldn't even refresh or reset the system because the recovery partition could not be found. So, I finally tried resetting the Windows installation after changing the SATA configuration in BIOS from AHCI to IDE. The system was reset normally and I managed to install the first set of Windows updates, although the laptop now worked quite slowly. However, after downloading the 8.1 update I haven't managed to boot Windows at all whether in IDE or AHCI mode. Now it doesn't BSOD but won't load Windows either. Is the booting SSD dying or something? Is there anything that can be done? Sincerely, DrDivi, Finland

Hello Sevenforums!
I am a recent BSOD survivor because of these forms and your helpful member Writhziden. I have been BSOD free since my last post on this thread ( Until recently.

The last 2 days I have had a few different BSOD crashes. Unfortunately I was not expecting them and had my settings reboot after a BSOD. Because of this I was unable to catch the error codes.

I have attached the Grab all report below. Thank you all in advance for your time and for being such a great BSOD troubleshooting tool.

A:Starcraft 2 BSOD reboot error

BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa80061ef8f8, 0, 0}

Probably caused by : AuthenticAMD
Stop 0x124 is a BSOD which is a hardware only related cause, and therefore it will be necessary to run some stress tests, however, from the other BSOD you have had, it commonly points to a graphics card driver or the Video RAM of your graphics card.

BugCheck 10E, {1f, fffff8a00c1f4460, 0, 3d022}

Probably caused by : dxgmms1.sys ( dxgmms1!VIDMM_GLOBAL::ReferenceAllocationForSubmission+148 )

Usual causes: Video driver, Video memory
Test the graphics card RAM and stability:NVIDIA/AMD Video Card - Test with OCCT
Read all the steps within the hardware test tutorials very carefully, as stress tests is designed run components to their maximum capacity, in order to point out failing or faulty hardware components.
You can you use this program to monitor the temperature during the stress test:CPUID HwMonitor
