I purchased a new notebook with Windows 7 in October. During the first weeks I uninstalled McAfee and replaced the harddrive. Since November Windows Update fails with error messages and defender does not start anymore. I made several virus scans (complete) with multiple antivirus programs but nothing showed up.Since it took my days to install various software, I do not want to re-install W7. I also have no good backup that I could restore. I am really surprised that there is not even a single entry regarding the error code in the Microsoft Knowledge base or elsewhere.I really would appreciate help.

Got it !!!!
If You are using notebooks with with hard drive larger than 700 GB you probably should update Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver.

I have a new Notebook Acer Aspire E 15. When I wanted to download its manual from the Acer website (http://www.acer.com/ac/de/DE/content/drivers) there was no such Notebook listed, respectively I could not found one. I filled in the series number of my Notebook and the name, make shown was Aspire E5-573.

What does that mean? What is the sense of it using completely different names for the same Notebook?

Well I have tried all the things possible that everyone has suggested and no joy , my last resort is that I have now taken the wifi Broodcom card out of the laptop which was also suggested .
The computer works via the Ethernet cable as the moment , tried to upgrade to windows 10 again and no joy .

Hi, You should be able to boot from the flash drive as follows. Shutdown the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to launch the Start-up Menu. Insert the Windows 7 flash drive. Press f9 to access the Boot Manager menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the flash drive entry and hit enter. Regards, DP-K

A:windows 10 upgrade fails on pavilion 15 notebook pc

Hi @giftedmishra? ,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15 Notebook and issues with creating Recovery discs. Here is a link from Microsoft on creating USB recovery flash drive. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. If your computer is having problems finding and installing operating system updates, try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix the problem. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Are there any issues with upgrading my HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC  with 64bit windows 8.1 to windows 10 ??? Do i even want to upgrade ?

A:HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC Windows 10 upgrade problems ???

Well it is free if you upgrade by midnight tomorrow and after that is going to cost. I personally have had no real issues with Windows 10 on any computer that originally came with Windows 8 or 8.1. However, if you have the switchable graphics it has created lots of issues for other people so if you have that stay away from Windows 10. Otherwise I would say do it.

I have a Pavilion g7 Notebook PC that currently has Windows 8.  This morning I received a pop up box stating windows 10 would be installed on Sunday.  I decided to not wait and selected install now.  the screen went fast and I could not get all the information other than something about download and reboot.  I dont think it dowloaded anything given that took about  1 minute.  I called Microsoft this morning and they told me hooked up to my computer and told me the laptop can be upgrade to Windows 10; however I needed to contact HP for current drivers.  I have been all over Hp site trying to find this information and can't seem to find it.  Can you help?  I do have a serial number and product # but I dont know the series.

A:Pavilion g7 Notebook Window 8 upgrade to Windows 10

sheilabroderick I read your post about needing Win10 drivers and wanted to help -- but need more information. If you can, please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001If that is not possible, then look for a sticker on the PC that includes the product number and post that here.  If the battery is removable, the sticker is likely to be in the battery compartment. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Unfortunately, I do not have a recommendation on how to fix this, other than rolling back to your previous installation of Windows. You could try making sure all Windows updates are installed. If that doesn't fix it, my best suggestion is to roll back. Since this system was not qualified for the Windows 10 upgrade, we do not offer Windows 10 drivers for this product.

Maybe another user will have a suggestion on how to get it to work that you can try.

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks a lot in advance for helping me out - I've been through what feels like nearly all the other threads in here looking for a solution and I am overwhelmed by the generosity and helpfulness of people here.

So here's my problem. I upgraded my Acer Aspire One netbook (A0150) to Windows 7. This went fine, had a few issues getting Windows 7 SP1 and Microsoft Office SP2 to update via Windows Update (several failures) but got there after multiple tries.

However, since then I've been getting regular, random BSODs. I've tried most of the ideas suggested - ran memtest86 about 5 times with no faults. I had Avast installed so I uninstalled that and changed to MSE, but still get BSODs. I've run sfc /scannow (no problems detected). I've also done a clean reinstall of Windows 7 but get the same problems.

So I've reached the limit of my knowledge - any and all help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again

Steve

realizing there was no way back, i had to instal windows 7

all went silky smooth untill the device radeon 4000 series had code 10 cannot start

i let windows 7 update this device - rebooted...the screen never came back...the machine was ON,signal up and everything but no raster, just a mouse curser.

hmm... rebooted in safe mode, rolled back driver....screen ok but still the graphics 4570 is code 10 and cannot start.

so i inserted the acer upgrade dvd

rebooted
all ok
then i ran the puma driver, rebooted and the screen never came on...backlighting but no picture.

Specifically, the NVIDIA GeForce display adapter crashes when the Windows 10 update is applied.  Based on what I've read so far, it seems that Acer has problems supporting the touch screen with the hardware in the 7600U under Windows 10, and has not released the drivers necessary to support the new OS. That's fine. Disappointing, but fine. The confusion, however, is that Windows 8.1, the most current version of the Windows OS that the 7600U *does* support, keeps throwing up dialog boxes telling me that my machine will run Windows 10, and wants me to upgrade. I know I can't (I already tried once before, and I know that completely disabling the NVIDIA hardware will allow Windows 10 to install and run, but why would I want to run that way, especially when a future Windows 10 automatic update is almost certain to break it again). How do I make Windows 8.1 realize that Acer does *not*, in fact, support installing Windows 10 on the Aspire 7600U at this time? While I'm hoping they'll eventually figure out what needs to be done to make this hardware work under Windows 10, I don't want Windows 10 trying to install itself in the meantime. Any advice from Acer or the community would be welcomed. Thanks!

you are not alone but seems that Acer is working with nVidia to give a proper driver; it's not a touchscreen issue but nVidia windows 10 driver keep crashing. read Paul1 latest posts:http://community.acer.com/t5/Aspire/Why-can-t-I-upgrade-my-Aspire-7600U-to-windows-10/td-p/381754/pa... I suggest you to write in that discussion and subscribe so you can be updated.

I have an Aspire V5-552PG with Windows 8, which I have upgraded to 8.1 and latter to Windows 10 via Acer offer. Two weeks after upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, my laptop suddenly reboot and the rebooting process sometimes freezes in Acer screen (before Windows).Sometimes I can wait several minutes (more than 30 min) to Windows 10 appear and after sometime, it reboots and the entire process restart.I have fallback to Windows 8 as my last attempt however I can't upgrade to 8.1 anymore. Every time I've tried upgrade to Windows 8.1 via Windows Update, and before to 8.1 I need to install KB 2919442 but fails due to error "The update is not applicable to your computer".I need urgent help to fix this issue, can somenone give the path to fix it please? Thanks,Marcio

My laptop was recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now I can't print anything. I get an error message that reads,"Windows cannot print due to the current printer setup."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even purchased a new printer. Still no printing. I'm assuming that some file somewhere has been corrupted, but not sure how to find it or fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 5750G. Last night, my computer randomly decided to do the Windows 10 upgrade. (I did not click okay, or accept the terms or conditions or anything. It just logged off and started doing the upgrade, and I couldn't quit out of it.) Anyway, I didn't get a chance to check if all of the drivers etc. were compatible with windows 10. After the upgrade, most things seem to be working fine so far. However, the scroll bar on my mouse trackpad no longer works. Is this something I can fix by simply upgrading the driver? If so, where do I find the correct one? Are there any other drivers that I should upgrade? I was told by a friend that I should upgrade drivers from the generic microsoft ones, and install better drivers that are specific to the brand of my computer. However, Acer only seems to have downloadable drivers for Windows 7 or 8 for my computer? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Claire.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I looked around this website and I found that the people in here are very kind. Anyway, I installed Windows 8.1 Professional onto my Acer Aspire 6935g and I found a few problems:

- The brightness does not change at all wether I press FN and Right or Left, or do it from Windows 8. It doesn't change.

- The sound and bass sounds perfect after installing drivers but every now and then it fuzzes, so for instance, when an error appears, it makes a "fzzzzzz" sound and it's annoying. (I did something to it and it might be working fine now, I have to wait and see.)

Those are the problems I am having at the moment, I have to wait and see if I get more problems on Windows 8. I have it dual-booted with Windows 7 just in case if anything goes wrong and thank lord I did. I am typing this in Windows 7 right now because Windows 8 is having some problems. Please can anyone help?

P.S, sorry if I posted this in the wrong category. I did not know which one to put it in!

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire L3600 that I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 preferably 64-bit.

I have add a look on the Acer support site and the only driver available is for the sound card. Looking on this forum I see some people have installed Windows 7 but are unable to get a new drive up working with the wireless LAN card.

Does this mean that this model is basically not upgradable? Or as someone else found some tricks around this area where they have found some drivers work.

I am not going to attempt anything until I can satisfy myself that an upgrade will go smoothly.

Robert?

sadly looking up your model of laptop it would seem that it isn't on the list of being one of the system that has Windows 10 drivers.... With that said, I am not saying that your computer can't run 10, Just there is issues that can come about with drivers. I would say that if your only issue with 10 is the ability to use your WIFI I would say that isn't to bad, However there is one other issue with your version of laptop, That is if your using the i7 2630QM as the model I know of, It uses the Intel HD 3000 Graphics and sadly this and the HD 2000 are not supported for Windows 10. Again this don't mean that you can't access the web, or check your email, or Facebook and Ebay. Just that if you want to play games or do something that requires updated Graphics you will get an error that says you need updated Graphics drivers.  I wish it was as easy as just finding a missing driver. If it has been in the last 30 days that you did the update to 10, I would say that your system can run good on Win8 or 7. I would restore back to your older softwre... James

That's "oops" as in, Oops, when I upgraded my Aspire Z1620-UR31P (Windows 7) and Aspire E1-732-4651 (Windows 8.1) to Windows 10 I failed to notice the important Acer Community asterisk: "Please make sure to upgrade the BIOS before upgrade to Windows 10." Due to installation problems -- especially with the Windows 7 unit -- I was forced into clean installs for both machines. So, as discussed on this forum, when you do a Windows 10 clean install a product key already resides on the BIOS and is read from BIOS by Windows 10 installation and authenticated at first web connection. Given such a Digital Entitlement setup I assume it is too late to follow the BIOS upgrade alert because I will lose Windows 10 activation. Am I correct? At this time both machines run smoothly with Windows 10 but unlike the E1 the Z1620 repeatedly fails to accept the first major Windows 10 update: "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, Version 1511, 10586." At two-thirds into update comes a blue screen hangup requiring a hard shutdown, failure to automatically restore the update, and finally automatic restoration of the earlier Windows 10 build after the message: "Windows 10 Update Error 0xC1900101-0x40017. The Installation failed in SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation."

A:Oops! Aspire Z1620-UR31P BIOS Upgrade - Windows 10

You should be able to do the BIOS upgrade even though that first release of Windows 10 is already installed. The Windows key will remain during the BIOS upgrade. How much space do you have on the C drive? It's possible the 1511 upgrade is failing with an out of space error... They're pretty cryptic with the error codes.

They put a new harddisk in my laptop and installed windows Vista.

I though the problem was solved, but when I use "Autocad" it freezes agian. (Mayby because of the updates.)

I turned it off one day and when i turned it one it would take me to a screen that had options for safe mode, last known good configuration, etc.. and when i choose all of them it starts to boot then a blue screen flashes and it restarts & this cycle never ends. i managed to get the stop number from a post on here that i read that said press f8 when i click last know good configuration.

A:Acer Aspire One Notebook Keeps Restarting

The STOP message is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME This could mean that your boot file is corrupted or it could mean your HDD has died.
Boot off of the XP CD and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors. If this fails, chances are great that the Hard Drive has died and needs to be replaced.

Acer Aspire 5516
This is a report on upgrading from Vista Home Basic to Windows 7 Home Premium.
I didn't do a Clean Install as I was worried about drivers, etc.. It turns out that everything went smoothly except for the graphics card driver. (Radeon 1200)
What I found out was that the default video driver was unacceptable, but I figured out what was needed. I couldn't find a good driver for it on the ATI web site. The Catalyst Control Center which is ~69MB did not work. Eventually I went to the Acer web site (us.acer.com) and found a Catalyst download that is 109MB. This is the one that works.

Everything now works properly.

Except I defragged with Defraggler and it couldn't get rid of all the fragmented file and there is a separate section that Defraggler doesn't even touch that Windows Defrag calls PQ*something. That is for a new post though.

I confess I'm Mac user and helpless when it comes to assisting my son overcome his nonchalance with technical matters. He bought a very small Acer Aspire notebook with a dinky 8.9" screen. It wouldn't be my cup of tea, but he loves it. I was staggered when I learned that there is no software with it ? no OS disks. I believe it came loaded with the XP and it's his responsibility to make his own disks using an external drive to clone his system. Frankly I don't understand any of this, but I would be enormously grateful for advice on how he should proceed to fulfill his responsibility. Thank you up front.

It probably has a restore partition on it. When you boot up it should say something about hit this F key to restore or something, usually the F11 key. You can also make your own Restore CD's using the computer manufactures included utility.

How long does the battery take to charge?
How long does the battery last before having to recharge? (Just say for general purpose)
I just bought one and i forgot to ask. I couldn't find it anywhere in the User manual.

A:Battery For A Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

i found that the user manual is on the notebook, they must be cheap as they don't seem to print them out these days. Anyway i found that it takes about 3.5 hours to charge if that is right or not and lasts about 3 hours before recharging if that's right.

Hi there. I am just wondering about my notebook laptop which is an Acer Aspire 5733z model. And this is a really new model as well that just came out I believe this March. Now I am just wondering if my notebook as Wake-On-Lan on it. Because I cannot seem to find it in my Bios settings. And I do not even have a Power Management settings tab in my Bios either. So can you please help me out here on this as soon as possible for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. That's all I can say.

And also, I am trying to see if there is a bios update available for my Acer Aspire 5733z model. I was actually chatting to Acer earlier, and they gave me a link to update my Bios. But I believe that I upgraded my bios already to the latest version, which I believe was version 1.07. But I still cannot find the Wake-on-Lan option in my bios at all! I am in an awful situation right now, because I cannot seem to find my Wake on Lan option in my bios settings. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

But I have checked my Ethernet adapter settings, and all of the options seem to be there like for example, "Allow This Device to Wake the Computer." And there were other options here as well. My Acer Aspire 5733z model has Broadcom Net Link Ethernet. So all I am asking here is please help me out here as soon as possible. For my computer, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. So there you have it! Well anyway, so please get back to me as soon as you possibly can on this iss... Read more

A:I would like to know more about my Acer Aspire notebook 5733z model

Hello jrdngreenberg3 and welcome to Seven Forums.

According to the Acer download link below, the latest BIOS version for your machine is 1.07. You can double check that by selecting notebook > Aspire > 5733z and then clicking the BIOS tab.

Download

There seems to be quite a few theads on this forum concerning wake-on-lan problems. Perhaps one of those other theads will offer you a solution. Also, have you checked your power plan settings?

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
For wireless laptops, have you made SURE the wireless switch is on?
For wired connection issues, have you booted in Safe Mode with Networking to see if that changes the symptoms?

So, I have an Acer Aspire 5750(Not a z or g, just 5750) and it runs Windows 7.
About this time last year my webcam stopped working suddenly. Nothing to my knowledge happened to make it stop, I just came home one day and it wouldn't work.
I'm having a hard time finding a driver to install for it, since the Acer website doesn't seem to have one, I uninstalled it and restarted my computer for it to reinstall and that didn't fix the problem. I also used eRecovery and that didn't seem to work either.
Another odd problem is that even the USB webcam's will not work with it, so I'm not entirely sure that the driver is the problem. I've done my fair share of research on this problem and cannot come up with a solution.

A:Acer Aspire Notebook built in (and USB) webcam not working.

maybe the internal WebCam is not working correctly, but the computer thinks that it is so is not allowing any other type of WebCam to work hard to go into device manager and make sure that the internal WebCam is on installed, if not uninstall it restart the computer and see if it works, and get back to me.

I up dated the BIOS from Acer site Now when I turn on the notebook all seems to switch on but have a black screen.
How can this be reversed or resolved please.

A:Acer Aspire 5739 updated bios on notebook

Are you sure you updated it with the correct BIOS version? This is very important, flashing the BIOS with the wrong version, can completely corrupt the BIOS and make the computer completely unbootable.

A friend of mine has just bought an Acer Aspire One notebook I don't know anything about them but he says it runs on Vodafone 3g,he has only just started to use it and has asked me if he would need anti virus for it,he says he gets a prompt every time it switches it on asking if he would like to start a 30 day trial of Vodafone virus protection, could anyone tell me if this would be advisable as obviously he would have to purchase after the trial if he still wanted to use it and it might be a pain to remove, the operating system is WINDOWS 7 ,if somebody with some knowledge could advise what Anti virus he should use it would be appreciated,if for example Microsoft security essentials is recommended, what would he need to do to download this, does he need a code to get Microsoft to allow him to have the Microsoft security essentials for free,or when he downloads from the Microsoft site will it be automatic as its a genuine Microsoft O.S that he is using, sorry if this is a bit rambling but I'm a relative newbie and my mates only had his notebook for a few days

I've tried reinstalled the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam program, and when I open it gives me this message:

I recently bought a an Acer Aspire 3050 laptop on Newegg. It came with Vista Home. I had planned on installing Xp Pro on it from the get go. I formatted and installed Xp. I managed to find all the right drivers except for the sound card driver. I got on acer's website and the only one they had that was even close was the RealTek Audio Driver v5.10.0.5273 which is for the Aspire 5050. I installed that and it worked, but the sound level is very low. All the levels are maxed out in all the properties and everywhere else i could find. I think it is a driver issue, but i am not sure. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, I have an acer aspire 7720. On start up I get a white screen, it dissapears if I bump it a few times so it seems to me something is loose. I have opened it up, taken out the keyboard, taken off the LCD and then replaced making sure everything was well pressed down. The fault is still there but not as bad.
Any suggestions?

A:White screen on Acer Aspire 7720 notebook

Welcome to TSG!!

How far did you disassemble the LCD? There is a cable that plugs into the back of the screen itself that is normally held in place by some tape. Try to reseat the end that plugs into the Main Board first. It's easier to access. If that doesn't help, and you are feeling adventurous, you can try to reseat the plug on the rear of the LCD panel.

It's possible that it is the panel itself that has the loose connection. That's not a home repair ...

Good luck!

I have a an Acer Aspire 5102WLMi notebook that the screen just went completely white on and then upon restarting it nothing was displayed, but the computer at least seems to turn on. I've tried plugging it into an LCD monitor but there still isn't anything displayed. I should note the laptop isn't mine. This is how I received it and what I was told. Is it possible for the on-board video to go bad? Or any ideas of things I could try to pin-point the problem?

Thanks

A:Acer Aspire 5100 Series Notebook --No Display

If you have tried an external monitor (which you said you have) and nothing displayed on boot whilst plugged into the external monitor, I would say that the built-in video is bad. I would advise your friend/client/relative to purchase a new laptop or see if you can find a cheap, used mobo on Ebay to replace it because the video cannot easily be replaced (soldered onto motherboard).

hi
i'm a bit of a novice when it comes to dealing with computer maintenance and i'm so afraid of messing up my system....by taking chances....so it comes like a breath of fresh air to know that there is a forum like this for windows7. i don't know why it took me so long to trace you guys.

btw. on behalf of all the novices out there just allow me to say a quick thank you thank you for the help you're giving us. i've learnt so much within the couple of weeks that i've been here. great job guys and thanks again.

i have an "Acer 4741 Aspire Notebook with intel core i3," operating on Windows7 64bit Home Premium. recently i've noticed some slight changes occuring on my system:

1) when i have my finger pressed on the mouse perharps a bit too long (i don't even know what too long is) the screen flickers (shakes up and down). i'm just not sure if this is normal.

2) my dvd device suddenly does not seem to be able to read media on my pre recorded dvds that use to play perfectly well without any problem. what happens now is, when i slot in a pre recorded dvd, a dialog box pops up asking how i want to burn my media even though there is media already on it. i ran a couple of test and ended up with a report that says my device has a "bad block"....whatever that means.

i'm now thinking maybe i should update my drivers and my bios but the problem is how to correctly indentify this drives.

A:Driver Updates on Acer Aspire 4741 Notebook

Sandpe, Welcome to the windows 7 forums, I agree that there are a lot of great helpers here.

You might want to go to Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 4741G where they
can tell you the latest drivers for your system.

Of course you might want to make sure that your Anti-Virus is up to date.

I have an Acer Aspire 5670 Notebook that I recently tried reinstalling the operating system on. I backed everything up and started to format the computer and install Windows XP Media Center edition. Everything was working fine, but when I was installing drivers, the computer started acting erratically and then I received a Fatal Error and blue screen of death out of nowhere.

So I tried formatting and installing windows again, but each time it finishes installing windows, it just shuts off, no message or anything. Each time I go to try to turn it on, it just shuts off at the Windows splash screen. Usually nothing shows up, it just restarts, but occasionally I get the blue screen of death.

I also tried installing Ubuntu, but I cant even get it to install, I just get to the starting splash screen and it restarts.

Ive tried installing windows xp pro which was on the laptop earlier, but that also came out with the same result.

Is the laptop messed up for good? Is it a BIOS problem? Do I need to replace a part? I just have no idea what to do with it.

Hi, to the group. I am seeking help to troubleshoot an issue with my VN7 notebook noted in the subject. Issue: the HDMI output on my VN7 notebook stopped working. The HDMI output was working fine. No hardware changes to notebook or external monitor since last known good. I've tested my HDMI cables and HDMI monitor using my desktop and tablet devices which all work fine to display output via HDMI on the same equipment. Did I mistakenly flip a bit or setting to disable HDMI on my notebook? Is there a way to run HDMI diagnostics on the VN7? I also tried searching related questions asked by other members. I've downloaded the latest version of Skype and wish to use my built-in webcam. I'm being told when I attempt to use Skype that there is a problem with my video device. I thought I'd downloaded and installed the correct drivers after I recently reformatted my system's HDD, but still the message appears.

Going to the ACER website for driver support is inconclusive because there are several versions of different manufacturers' webcam drivers -- for both a Suyin model and a Chicony model. Results differ in two of the different utilities that I've run for detection of the correct manufacturer...one utility identified Chicony, one did not

Can someone please help me solve this mystery so I can finally get to camming again on Skype?
