Hi there B%@?pingComputer people,Okay here's the issue:Started with trying to install a PlayStation 3 Controller to my system using some drivers that didn't work and in-turn they ended up corrupting my drivers. The reboot after installing the dodgey PS3 controller drivers left me locked out of my PC at the welcome logon screen as USB drivers had been corrupted as well as others. Locked out meaning: Mouse and Keyboard frozen, no input or response at all. Safe mode didn't affect it one bit. No benefits booting in that mode. The temporary work-around has been to use a keyboard with a PS/2 connector as this doesn't use USB drivers, I was able to login to my computer and start assessing the damage. So the immediate look is, windows classic theme and the only control I have is a 15 year old keyboard to navigate. I've managed to take a screenshot of the corrupt/missing drivers.Error log: Click here to download.I know this not to have been a virus as I've scanned my system with no results and the heuristics of Eset's NOD32 would of picked it up in the first place. I've uninstalled the drivers that came with the PS3 driver and all softwares to do with it. The Parallel Port Joystick Enumerator in the image is now uninstalled as well. This driver was most likely the cause of the mess-up I think. The drivers with the yellow caution symbols can't be reinstalled buy my efforts so far. I've uninstalled them and rebooted/tried reinstalling them. When I p... Read more

Hi everyone,

I just bought a used Lenovo 3000 N200 (model 0769). When I met the seller he told me that he had lost the installation CD that normally comes with the computer, and that anyway, it was not usefull since he had downgraded from Vista to XP.

I didnt think it could be a problem, but now I'm overwhelmed with problems! I reformated the computer and installed my own personal version of Windows XP (SP2) and found out I couldnt have access to Internet!

I went to the "Device Manager" and found multiple devices marked with a yellow "?". Network controller was part of these missing drivers. So I went on Lenovo website and found a driver page

That did solve my problem with Internet, now it works fine. But I have no audio device and about ten other yellow "?" that will probably soon become very problematic! Things like "Base system device" that I just cant find because there's no details about it!

I dont want any yellow question mark anymore! I want my computer to be 100% focntional!

Anyone can help, give suggestion, put me on a trail or tell me where to look?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read th isnovel!!

A:Solved: Device manager drivers missing and no install CD

Anyway, since you installed XP,I would go through the link that you provided above, and any of those that you show in device manager,I would download,as well as the chipset id driver.

I just upgraded my vista to Windows 7 and then the graphic card in device manager showed a code 10.

I tried reinstalling the driver and now it shows me: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I have Acer Aspire 3810TG.
It has 2 video cards: ATI radeon mobility HD 4330, the one which is having this problem. And the other one is integrated Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Probably meant for using when working on power saver or smth, don't know.

I tried to disable both of them and them and when I enable ATI, it says no errors anymore but still the highest resolution is 1024x768 so I'm guessing its either not working actually or it is meant for those video cards to work at the same time, then enabled Intel afterwards and ATI starts giving me this code 43 again.

Any suggestions?
Windows 7 is a 32bit.

A:graphic card in device manager showed a code 10 and 43

genesisnavarro, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Your laptop uses what is known as switchable graphics and the driver for both video cards needs to be installed for either to work properly, unless there is a setting in the bios that allows you to turn on of them off (not many do). As far as Windows 7 drivers for both you can find both the Intel and ATI drivers for your model here,

Just select your model, then select any Windows 7 32 bit from the dropdown to locate them.

Hi all,

The "Display adapter" option is missing from my Device Manager. I did
re-install the OEM driver but it didn't help. I am mystified as to how to get it
to show up. I would like to install a new video card and I suspect I must
first resolve this software problem (already tried the card with no luck).

I had made some tweaks to WinXP some months ago in an effort to optimize it.
I don't remember what I did but I suspect that might have something to do
with it. I have looked through Microsoft and HP/Compaq support sites with
no luck. Any info I found seems to talk about using the Display Adapter to
make changes, not how to revive it.

My stock video drivers are loaded and working. Again, I just don't know how
to get Display Adapter to re-appear (and working) in Device Manager.

I ran a diagnostic app called AIDA32. Here are screen grabs of my:

* Windows Devices
* Physical Devices
* Device Resources
* Windows Video

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue? Any and all
suggestions are appreciated.

My System Specs:
* WinXP Home Ed, SP2 installed
* System: Compaq Presario SR1030NX
* Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+
* Processor Speed: 2166 MHz
* BIOS: KM400 / 3.03

For what it is worth, I pulled the netbt.sys file from a known good machine and putting it into the %Windows%\system32\drivers folder, then imported the registry keys for NetBT from the same machine.  Rebooted the computer and the "NetBIOS over TCP

This is query about the drivers which can be seen against any device when you click on properties in Device Manger. Looking at the drivers for a USB flash drive for example, when you look at driver details you get a list of three shown with the first one highlighted.
Does that mean that it is the first one in the list which is actually being used or how does it work? How is a choice of driver made when several are available and do we have a chance to change that choice if we think another one might be better?
Many thanks,

A:Drivers in Device Manager

Hi james41

The list of drivers you see in Device Manager for a particular device is a list of the main files that make up that "driver set". Taken together, we lump all that functionality and call it by the singular "driver". Some of the video drivers, for example, can contain a large number of files - and several different important modules. Some of the drivers are mostly built-in to Windows ... such as those for CD-ROM drives: cdrom.sys, redbook.sys, imapi.sys --these are common files seen as part of the Windows XP "CD-ROM driver".

When you want to change a driver in Windows XP, you won't usually just be changing one file, you'll be changing one set of files composing a "driver", for another set of files. [The "Update Driver" function in Device Manager can be used for this purpose - but often it is best to consider the installation procedure provided by the device's manufacturer].

I downloaded the Norton removal tool from the Symantec website.
Followed the directions and restarted my computer.
It wouldn't start and I had to reboot it couple of times before it worked.
Something strange had happened, none of my devices were showing up. I checked "Device Manager" and was shocked to find nothing in the box! Every single device had disappeared!
This is why I couldn't connect or play any sounds, or do anything.
I then tried transferring my data (all my storys, poems etc) to my CD writer. But the computer didn't recognise that either.
So I rebuilt my "old" computer and connected to the internet.
And here I am!
Very angry!
I tried ringing Symantec, but got stupid answering machine that wasn't much help. I emailed them instead and they replied that "I" must have downloaded a piece of software that wasn't compatible to Norton.
I have just sent off another email, but as it contains strong langauge that I'd rather not repeat it on here.
So now I'm stuck. I can't remove my data from my computer, Wish I had "backed up" more often, but then I didn't think "Norton" would crash my pc. Used "Norton" on Windows 98 few years ago and had no problems.
Now I have completely lost faith in Norton and will never use them again.

A:Missing Device Manager

The easiest way to recover the data is to physically remove the hard drive that's in the affected computer and connect it to another computer as a slave drive (make sure you reset the jumper as per the diagram on the hard drive).

You should then be able to move the data to either that computer's hard drive, an external drive, cds or dvds, etc.

Once saving your data completed, reinstall your original hard drive as master in your computer, (setting the jumper again accordingly) reformat and reinstall XP if you have the Windows XP installation cd or use a Restore cd that may have come with the computer.

If you did not get any disks with your computer when it was new, there may be a restore partition which is accessed before Windows starts.
Boot the computer and look for instructions on the bottom of the screen - again - BEFORE Windows starts.

It's done that with mp3 players, mice, dvd cd-roms, monitors and other devices. However with some select few it will say already up to date.

How do I get my device manager to be able to actually update?

The only reason I even noticed this is because a couple of mtp players wouldn't recognize so I would try to update and it would say mtp usb device or usb massive storage device "system cannot find the file specified"

After that I tried updating various things in the device manager most of them saying the same thing about not finding the specified file

I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me resolve this

I no longer have AVG installed. I completely uninstalled it some time ago using Revo Uninstaller and installed Microsoft Security Essentials instead. However, the Device Manager, in 'Show Hidden Devices' shows the following entries in 'Non-Plug & Play Drivers':

This is the top entry:
AVI Loader Driver; it has a yellow exclamation mark and it's properties are showing as follows:
(This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)
The device is showing as 'Stopped'.

The other AVG entries are as follows:
AVGIDSDriver (Stopped)
AVFIDSEH (started)
AVGIDSFilter (Stopped)
AVGIDSSShim (Stopped)
Avgtdix (Started)

When I tried to disable the top entry, the one that is not working properly, my computer failed to start the next time I tried to boot up and I had to choose to start from the last successful stable installation.
Everything is fine now, but I am wondering just how to get rid of these entries in Device Manager and why on earth they seem to be necessary to boot my PC when I no longer have AVG installed! I would like to uninstall these drivers but am scared to that my PC will stop altogether and I won't be able to get it started again! Any suggestions please?

Whats wrong with the existing drivers though? If they're fine now, is there really any need to replace them?

I have recently added a second physical hard drive with windows 7 pro 64bit os installed. The other hard drive is runing windows XP 32 bit Home Edition. The system is configured in dual boot. I cannot see the display drivers in device manager nor can I install the 64 bit drivers for my video card which is a ge force gs 7300 in windows 7.

Also I checked my original graphics drivers in the XP 32 bit OS and had to reinstall them as there was a change to them. Now i had a tech at NCIX do the install and configuration for me and he told me that the sysytem was operating fine but when i started to personalize and configure windows 7 I'm getting error messages when i try to open DVD maker or some other program that requires graphics support ... now the current graphics is called simply VGA which seems to be a basic program for my display.
When i begin the install process of the Nvidia 64bit drivers the wizard stops after about the first 30 seconds with the error message that it cannot find any graphics card/drivers to support and complete the install.... please help

I run XP home edition SP3, browsers firefox google chrome and IE7, printer, scanner, have all MS updates. The trouble when I place a cd or dvd in the drive it crashes the pc. I noticed it when using OpenOffice and trying to burn a slideshow. Openoffice would crash sometimes also. I used Revo Uninstaller to remove OOo and reinstall. Okay. I started backing up data to burn and it got worse. At first It was sporadic crashes whether music, data, or movies. I did scans for virus/malware stuff. Nothing. Then comodo anti-virus stopped updating. I did a clean reinstall and it was still messed up. I switched to Avast AV and xp firewall for now. I did an xp repair to keep from losing all my new data, reinstalled all MS updates and reinstalled SP3. Then the pc would take cd or dvd but my player stopped playing movies. Pc said the 'enabledvd.' file was missing yet it was still there. Then my Pinnacle Instant CD+DVD program crashed trying to burn data. More scans, another repair, updates required, it took cd's at first, now it crashes everytime. Bio's is on default. Video drivers were updated in device manager. The only thing I can think of is I used ccleaner then I used comodo system cleaner before the first repair although I have used ccleaner and no problem. Directx tests are okay. When I go to the Device Manager, there are no com ports listed under Ports (COM & LPT). The only thing listed under Ports is 'Unknown Device'. This is occuring on a Motion Computing Tablet Model LE 1600. We just recently had it sent back to have the motherboard replaced.

We didn't notice this problem until we attemped to connect a Leica GPS unit in ArcMap.

How do we get the COM Ports back?

A:COM Ports Missing - Device Manager

Be sure that the port is enabled in BIOS. Try removing it from Device manager and rebooting for reinstallation.

If BIOS allows it, and the above does not work, try changing the IRQ or memory used by COM1.

I recent upgraded an IBM thinkpad to windows XP service pack 2. Soon after upgrading I noticed some things had stopped working (wireless card, for instance). When I checked on the device manager, I found that nothing was listed. The device manager was completely blank. This sounded exactly like this:

So, I contact microsoft, and I get the hotfix listed. Running the hotfix autoextracts a file called fixccs.exe and another fixccs.pdb. I ran fixccs.exe but it doesn't appear to do anything, and I still have no device manager. Anyone encountered this problem/know what to do with the files provided?

1) Check to see if the device is hidden. For this, click show hidden devices under View, then expand all the nodes under device manager. Uninstall any entries which appear grayed out, then restart. Then try plugging your external device to the computer and see if it works.

2) Make sure that in the BIOS the ports are enabled and set to 'auto'.

3) If that does not work, try installing the drivers for your device manually.

Hello. I recently purchased a new HP laptop with Vista installed. I uninstalled Vista and used my existing copy of XP Professional. After installing drivers from HP's website, all was well, and the computer was in full working order.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that my DVD burner was not listed in My Computer. After further investigation, I discovered that it was completely gone, missing from the Device Manager as well, with no exclamation marks or errors to indicate a device error or driver issue. The device is not discovered with "Add new hardware." Simply put, the drive has disappeared from XP.

I am positive this is a problem with XP, as I can boot from the drive fine, and the installation of XP on another partition shows the drive working fine. Furthermore, I can repair the bad XP installation with no problems, but upon booting back into Windows after the repair, the drive is missing.

I frequently use Virtual CD-ROM drives to mount images that I have ripped. I believe this may or may not have contributed to the problem. Any suggestions are appreciated, as I have spent countless hours surfing the net trying to find a working solution to my problem. I will go ahead and point out that I have attempted to remove the LowerFilters and UpperFilters values from the registry section, per the SP2 upgrade bug. This has not fixed the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions.

Wow, glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem, and I have tried the same things. All cables attached where they should be, and when I boot up they cd rom drive light comes on for a few seconds, and then nothing. I can still open/close the drawer, but that's it.

A:Missing CD drive, not in Device Manager

Again, if the drive doesn't appear in Device Manager, it's not an issue that can be fixed by tinkering with the registry. You need to diagnose why the system doesn't see the drive.

I see there are other posts on this topic but so far I haven't been able to solve my problem.
Dell XPS M1210 XP sp3
I don't have Nero or Roxio

My dvd drive has simply disappeared from windows explorer and from Device Manager
It doesn't respond at all when i push the eject botton.

I have tried the Upper and Lower Filters fix but beside being able to remove just the Lowers as there were no Upper, nothing has changed.

I have removed te drive and put it back into place several times

I don't think its recognized by the Bios (but I am not sure about that, what should i see when pressing F2 at start up, if it were?)

Is the drive connected by IDE or ATA?
Under the voice IDE ATA-ATAPI controllers in Device Manager everything seems ok, so, can I ruled out a connection problem and go ahead and buy a new drive?
I wouldn't want to get a new one to find out the problem is somewhere else.

Is there a way to find out if the connection is ok?
I don't have another drive i can test it with unfortunately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Ok here it goes....

I was playing Bioshock and my computer froze. I got some crazy pink screen and then nothing so I had to do a hard restart. (SUCKED)

So, I turned it back on and noticed my Monitor Drivers were deleted? (ViewSonic 21" VX2025wm) I then of coarse reinstalled and everything seemed to be working nicely.

I started playing Call of Duty 4 and I could see some glitching so I stopped playing and started up my Nvidia System Monitor so I could watch the temp of the Video Card (8800GTXOC BFG). Noticed the temp rise to about 81 degrees C which is normal for the card and it crashed again. So now I'm convinced its the video card. Went to Nvidia Website and DL the newest drivers for the card v180.52. Of coarse I had to reinstall the Monitor drivers as well.

So all that done. I started playing one more time to see the results (Stupid I know) and the same thing happened but this time the Monitor and Sound Card Drivers were deleted. (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2). So I tried installing the sound card but I get this message (The File 'catc32k.sys' on Creative installer CD-ROM is needed) So I put the disk in and try to reinstall it but nothing. I even tried to manually remove and start over but still nothing.

Now when I try to install my monitor I can't because the disk does not work and I have to manually install it. But I have to click the plug and play monitor option in the Monitor Selection but it is not there. I have unplugged the monitor an... Read more

Problem started when my PC was locking in hybernate mode. Did some research and fixed that by reseating the RAM cards, also removed and refitted battery. I have now lost my D drive? It was replaced with a 3/12 floppy drive but now that has even gone.

I have updated BIOS, checked connections to DVD drive and M'board, done the regedit thing, however i had no high level only low?
It also does not list the drive in the device manager (or my computer). The D drive was working fine before hand. I have tried to reinstall the driver by downloading it off the net but when i go to install i get a message "ATAPI device can not be found" this is then getting a bit out of my league

The Disc drive spins up when you put a disc in but seems the PC is just not recognising the drive is even there? (LG - GSA - H55N).

A:[resolved] Device Manager Missing??

I think this is starting to be a bigger problem. I (and others by searching the web) have just been recently hit with this also and no one can seem to find a fix, not even Microsoft yet.

Do you have any other problems like missing connection icons in your Network Conenctions folder (even though the network/internet still works), very slow display of My Compter or any problems with USB devices?

Those are my problems, and for some reason I was also prompted to reactivate Windows because of significant hardware changes, and there weren't any. I am in contact with Microsoft through email support as are others, but right now no one can seem to find a general fix that works. I would first reccomend to you to get updated to Service Pack 2.

In the device manager I have only the Nvidia 9800M drivers and no Intel VGA drivers. I vaguely remember there being Intel VGA drives as well when I revived the computer. I have done a Gateway system restore and the the Device manager has the display adapter listed as Nvidia 9800M with no Intel VGA.

When I try to install Intel VGA UMA from the driver disk it says my computer does not meet the requirements and shuts down the installation program.

Any help would be wonderful.

A:VGA adapter missing in Device Manager

Hi thenerrus,

If you have a display on your laptop, the VGA is working. I seriously doubt you have two different video cards in that lap because they're not usually built that way, unless you had another on installed. The information you provided says you have an Nvidia card as your video adapter, trying to install the Intel drivers and having them fail also says you only have an Nvidia adapter installed.

So, unless you installed another video card or unsure what card you have installed in the laptop, I would suggest you look up your systems specs from the notebook manufacture and see what card is installed on the machine.

Good luck.

OS: Win XP, SP2
CPU/Ram: 1.50 GHz, 512 MB
System Manufacturer: Dell Inspiron 8600

Recently, this is what I did.
1) I upgraded the BIOS

2) partitioned the HD

3) reinstalled the OS and upgraded to XP SP2 from SP1.

Now in the Device Manager, there is no section for "Ports"

In Device Manager, originally when I clicked "show hidden devices", under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers", there were warnings/error notices next to "parport" and "serial".

I can't print or sync my Palm. Other USB stuff works. Strangely, when I installed the Palm Desktop software, it let me sync one time. When I went into the settings to set up my e-mail sync, I got an error that the COM 1 port wasn't available and it switched to COM 3. I won't sync now.

I tried deleting the "parport" and "serial" drivers and they don't (immediately) return when I restart or "scan for hardware changes", but eventually show up again.

Thanks for any help you can give.

PS, if those photo links don't work, try these

2) In Safe Mode, it all looks the same.

in otherwise good shape. Fixed a Power Buttom issue with super glue.

Deleted two (2) programs pertaining to DVDs. No help.

"SCAN for Hardware Changes" from the device manager.... detects nothing.

DVD will eject by pushing button. Place a CD in DVD and the READ light comes on.
So... it's getting power and functioning internally. I just don't think that it's
communicating with the computer for some reason. I've flip flopped back and forth
about whether it's a hardware or a software issue. I'm leaning toward Software!!!

I need help please,

I'm not sure when this originally occurred, but I'm missing the IDE/ATA Controllers section in Device Manager. They are currently listed in the Unknown section.

A few months ago I replaced the power supply on my 3 year old HP m7183c PC and about a month ago had to reinstall Windows (XP MCE SP2) due to problems caused by a Windows update.

I only just noticed that the IDE/ATA Controllers were listed under Unknown. It isn't causing any problems that I'm aware of... unless some issues I'm having with multiple external drives is related to this.

I've not been able to find anything relating to this and wonder if it's possible that I connected the cables incorrectly when I replaced the power supply. I imagine doing so would result in more serious problems than just relocating the devices to Unknown, but this is out of my range of experience. Possibly missing drivers is causing this???

I would appreciate any thoughts and advice anyone could offer.

The initial problem is when I print to a virtual printer on lpt1, the print out comes out but I get a "document failed to print" message every time.

This problem could be related to the missing "Ports (COM LPT) " in "Device Manager". I have this problem on 2 Dell Vostro 200 desktop.

Hey guys, I've had an empty Device Manager for a long time and I'm only now trying to find out how to fix it.

I didn't really worry about it before because everything was working fine, even though it was empty. But recently when I've been trying to install drivers for my video card, and my new game controller there have been issues. For example the driver installation for my radeon 9600 card refuses to start up. And the driver installer for my gamepad fails to recognize that it's even plugged in (even though games recognize the controller just fine).

I'm guessing these driver problems are related to the empty device manager? The installer won't install the drivers because it doesn't think the devices are even installed or plugged in the computer.

These are the things I've tried so far. I got these solutions from google searching.
Checking Plug and Play - It's set to automatic.
mscoonfig -> services - Hide All Microsoft Services is unchecked.
Aproposfix.exe - Still empty.
Editing Permissions in the Registry - Still doesn't work.

I've ran spyware and virus tests too. They found a lot of things, but I'm still having trouble.

Any ideas guys?

I have a question, I had another tech pull a hard drive out of a computer that is overseas and send it to me for re-load (long story as to why). I was wondering if anyone knows of software like the device manager that will let me view the devices that are installed on this hard drive while connected to another machine.

Currently I have the drive that was shipped to me connected to my machine via a USB connector. I see the drive and wanted an easy way to see what drivers were loaded on the drive before I re-load it.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit on a Dell Latitude E6500.

There are three items under Other Devices in Device Manager that have cryptic names and seemingly no drivers available from Dell.

Broadcom USH
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications Controller

I have installed many drivers and some install successfully with no change in Device Manager or I get an error message the driver is not for this system.

Can someone point me in the right direction on these devices.

Hi everyone. I have a problem I wasn't able to fix myself and hope someone can help me fix it.

yesterday I was trying to plug in a new cellphone to my computer with the usb cable that came with it. (it did not come with any software or drivers of any kind)

windows was unable to make it work so i gave up and just uninstalled it from the device manager.

today, late in the day, while browsing or doing stuff, i noticed my mouse would freeze/hang every once in a while (sometimes very frequently sometimes every couple of seconds).

looking for some ideas online, i learned it could be the device manager looking for something and not finding it?

to help confirm this possibily, my mouse died on two occasions with windows giving me those little information bubbles on the taskbar saying some usb device "failed" or whatnot. (sorry forgot the exact words) and then the mouse was dead and i had to restart.

my theory is, i "broke" something in the drivers and junk.

looking for some solutions, the very last thing i tried today before i gave up was:

starting in safe mode
uninstalling all USB devices
unplug my USB mouse
restarting windows normally and
letting windows reinstall everything
pluggin the USB mouse back in and letting windows install that last
my mouse still hangs when i move it around. i scanned for EVERYTHING and couldn't find a thing but am more than willing to submit a hijackthis log if anyone would like it.
my thoughts on this are that... Read more

A:Device Manager hangs? fault usb drivers?

in desperation i found and installed the OLD (i mean old) drivers that came with my mouse so that they don't use the faulty windows ones that i broke. (windows default were perfect till i broke it trying to install that cellphone )

I have a Logitech iFeel Mouse.

i'm trying to purposely make the mouse hang again by moving it around very fast. seems to be holding up really well.

i'll mark it solved if i can't manage to break it again.
still hangs.
how can i delete all the usb drivers on my pc and reinstall from cd?

I recently replaced a Logitech mouse with a MS Wireless 5000. After initially installing the 5000, I found that in device manager it was listed twice. This didn't seem to be causing any problems and I left it alone but have since had a few BSODs. Wasn't having any problems before the mouse install.

So I went into device manager and uninstalled one of the entries but did not delete the drivers.

On reboot, there are now two entries again but one is "HID compliant mouse" and the other is "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mosue (IntelliPoint)".

Is it normal to have both of these items listed? If not, how do I stop Windows from installing the second driver on every reboot?

A:2 mouse drivers listed in device manager

Both entries refer to the same mouse and should be left alone.

Your new mouse is a "HID compliant mouse" like every modern mouse, so Windows loads it's own driver for that.

But you've also installed the Intellipoint driver which accounts for the second entry in the 'Mice' category of Device Manager.

I also use a MS wireless mouse but I didn't have to install a driver for it. Windows took care of that (Windows 7), so my Device Manager shows only one mouse entry which is "HID compliant device".

Unless your MS mouse has any special functions with extra buttons, it should work perfectly well for standard functions without the Intellipoint software & driver, in which case you too would have only one mouse entry in Device Manager.

Hello Everyone,

I've installed Microsoft Windows 8.1 Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600 on my HP 430 Notebook PC with 1 GB RAM and Pentium CPU @ 2GHz 2 Cores.

Display drivers are not working properly (i.e., everything appears bigger and unclear), earlier I'd successfully updated the display drivers and made it work using Device Manager. Can anyone help me making a backup of the drivers (may be in .inf format) from the installed drivers so that I don't have to update it every time I re-install it.

A:How to backup Drivers from Device Manager/Installed Dvr ??

.Inf is just a file with the drivers. If you want real backup of drivers, use a program like this: Download Double Driver - MajorGeeks or Download Driver Magician Lite - MajorGeeks
They can be restored using that program or partially one by one or only specific ones.

when I go to my computer, properties, then hardware and device manager, I have no display drivers option. therefor I can't install any drivers for my graphics card and can't play my video games anyone know where I find them? I run Windows XP Pro.

A:Problem with Device Manager/Display Drivers

In the device manager it would be "display adapters".you can benefit from this free download, with the nature of your question in mind: it, and run the report wizard. All pages, and scroll down reading,or click individual icons and check out the details that way.

Hello there. I have done something that is rather foolish. I have a Turtle Beach z22 headset, and I read that the USB cord for the headset doesn't work well with USB 3.0 ports, so I decided make an attempt to run the drivers for USB 2.0 on my USB 3 port. However, this didn't work the way I expected. The reason for trying to have the port run the 2.0 drivers is because it's the only port next to my audio jack, and in order to use a 2.0 port I would have to reach my USB cord all the way across my keyboard. My USB 3.0 driver for the port no longer appears in my device manager, and whenever I plug anything into the port, my laptop no longer registers it. Is there any way to get the USB 3.0 drivers running again?

A:USB 3.0 drivers no longer appearing in Device Manager

Try to run systen restore prior to change was made.

In my device manager, I see four Nvidia High Definition Audio drivers. When I try to uninstall any number of these Nvidia drivers, Windows 7 automatically finds and re-installs them.

Does anyone know if these four audio drivers are supposed to be there or something?

Edit: It's M11x so the computer has switchable graphics, one Nvidia Geforce 335m and one Intel GMA. So I think that's why there is also a Realtek audio driver along with the Nvidia ones.

I noticed an icon in my "Network Connections" titled as MSN. It states under "type" that it is a connection manager. The strange thing is that it points to something looking like a telephone number (4255555555) and its status is unavailable due to a missing device...

I don't remember doing anything that could install the above connection...Also scanned my machine with Spybot S&D, Malwarebyte's Antimalware and Commodo Defense+ scanner. None of those programs found anything suspicious.

I accidentally started the msn messenger setup wizard (I don't use it - using windows live messenger) but canceled the setup process almost immediately. Could this be related?

Have you people ever came across this thing? Is it something harmless or should I start posting at the security forums???

A:Solved: MSN Connection Manager - device missing

The MSN Connection manager is installed when you start to install MSN Explorer -- Was that the setup wizard you started (has a butterfly icon) rather than MSN Messenger (has an icon of two people)? MSN Explorer is included with XP; MSN Messenger you would have had to download.

The missing device will be displayed if you don't have a dial up modem.

You can right click the Connection Manager and delete it.

To uninstall MSN Explorer, goto Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. Check if you see MSN there (will be here if updated from the version included with XP).
If not there, click Add/Remove Windows Components, scroll down to MSN Explorer. If checked, uncheck it.

Just download the driver file, save it to a flash drive or burn to CD to install on the other one.

Hey guys it seems that I don't have a tcpip driver installed on device manager and yet in my wireless connection properties it is installed. I do have a windows XP CD and I'm hoping that you can guide me that way. Thank you and please help.

A:TCPIP driver missing from Device Manager?

TCP/IP Protocol Driver should be under the Non Plug and Play devices. First you have to choose Show hidden devices in Device Manager, from the View menu.
Anyway, if everything, including your internet is working fine, then don't touch anything

Hi there

My network adapter has disappeared overnight. The computer was on all along and when I got to it in the morning the network was Limited, I turned airplane mode on/off, no networks were showing. I disabled the adapter but it would not re-enable (code 10). I then tethered using my phone but the plugged connection literally replaced the wifi adapter in my network options.

I've rebooted twice, run 2 sfc scans in between (the window shuts straight away when it finishes therefore can't read any notification if any) but no dice. I went into device manager and ticked 'show hidden items' which revealed my adapter, I tried uninstalling it to then scan for hardware but the scans just come back as if nothing was missing.

Was gonna do a DISM repair next but with the adapter uninstalled altogether I'm a bit reluctant to dig my hole any further without guidance.

This issue seems common from what I read but usually one of the manipulations I've attempted solves the problem. Would anyone have a clue?

I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit, adapter is Realtek RTL8723BE.

Happy to provide more info if need be.

A:Wifi adapter missing from device manager

First, please fill out your System Specs. See here: How to See Your System Specs with "System Info"

Try installing the Windows 8 64 bit driver from here: Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad S440, S540 - Lenovo Support (US)

If no help, to see all devices in Device Manager:

Create a new Environment variable called devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and set it's value to 1 as follows:

Right click on My Computer, Computer or This PC and select PropertiesClick on the Advanced tabClick on the Environmental Variables buttonClick the New button under the User variables for xxxxx" area.Set the Variable name as: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devicesSet the Variable value to: 1Click OK as needed to close all the windows you opened.
To see the status of everything in Device Manager:

Open Device Manager:Hardware tab, Device Manager
XP: Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device ManagerVista, Windows 7, 8 and 10:Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, Click on View then Show hidden devices.Click on the + next to anything that shows a yellow mark.

The Slimtype DVD drive is not working on my Dell inspiron E1405 laptop. When I opened up the device manager there's a yellow exclamation point. I installed CDgone and then it worked again, but I ended up messing up the registry. Now the volume icon doesn't show in my taskbar. iTunes also got messed up telling me to reinstall. So rather than go any further, I did a restore point so now the disk drive isn't working again. Not sure where to go from here.

Device Manager does not have COMMS or PORTS in it,
I cant see what connected USB devices are using which ports?
as Iam required to change a connected USB cables port to port 8...

many thanks

A:PORTS / LPT COMMS missing from Device Manager..?

I would suggest rebooting your computer after shutting it down for 5 minutes. After rebooting check device manager again to see if the ports have re-appeared. If they have not then run add hardware and try to install them manually.

Do you have the recovery software for this computer?

You have two computers listed which one is affected?

When I open control panel/system/hardware/device manager the display adapters is not there anymore.

Similarly, if I right click the desktop/choose properties, the display properties dialog pops up; but it only has the themes tab, the others are missing (desktop, screen saver, appearance, settings)

History: My machine had been shutting itself down during the day when I was not there, and had trouble booting randomly. So, I tried booting from the xp install disk. It wanted to go into recovery mode, so I proceeded. After a few minutes the machine shut itself off again during the recover.

Subsequent inspection showed a lot of dust in the box. I opened it, cleaned it all out. Apparently the original problem was just over heating. The machine runs fine now.

But, I am left with the display problem - missing tabs from the display properties dialog, which I assume is related to the "display adapters" missing from the "device manager" dialog.

How do I restore the "display adapters" dialog?

A:display adapters missing from device manager

Sorry to say, if your system shut down during recovery, your system is likely hosed

By the way, you don't state what type of system you have.

Before you do anything else, go into BIOS Setup and look to see if there is a shut-down timer. I've seen laptops that have this.

Try booting to your Windows Setup CD and doing nothing for awhile. Stay this way and see if your system still shuts down. IF IT DOES, then BIOS may be shutting down because of overtemp, usually the CPU.

It appears after the latest round of windows automatic updates my native bluetooth device went missing.  It is not visable in the device manager or the control panel settings.   I have downloaded and reinstalled the latest wireless and bluetooth drivers, however I am still unable to view the device.  This is a Yoga Pro 2 (64bit) running the most current Windows 8.1 updates.  The latop has a native bluetooth adaptor which had been working with no issues. I have run services.msc and restarted the associated BT services and they are running. Would appreciate any help.

Have you checked through the Charms Menu?
Hover to the right of the screen, click settings >> PC Settings >> PC & Devices
If you cant find it there, then go to Control Panel >> Recovery >> Open system restore
and restore your system to the last recovery point before the microsoft updates.
