Q: Windows 10: Audio playing through both speakers and headphon...

Hey Everyone, Bit of an issue I've had here ever since I "upgraded" to Windows 10. My audio is playing through both my headphones and my speakers simultaneously. What I've already tried:Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.Installing Realtek.Uninstalling drivers and then shutting my laptop down, then restarting it. None of these have done anything to alleviate the issue so far. Also, in the other forums I've read on the topic, everyone talks about having either a "Speaker/Headphones" option or separate "Speaker" and "Headphone" options in the playback tab of the sound bar in control panel, but I only have this: There's only an option for the speakers, even when I enable viewing of disabled devices. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

when i turned on the computer today i found out that when i unplug the headphones i can't hear with the speakers...and when i plug them back in they work just fine..so at first i thought that it was a hardware problem with the laptop speakers...but then i decided to uninstall the audio card driver (realtek) and when i did it i could switch between the headphones and the speakers manually but they didn't switch automatically...so...now i decided to install the audio card driver and i cant enable the speakers again...
i uploaded a screenshot so you could see what i see..might help make it faster...

thank you for your help

A:Doesn't switch automatically between speakers and headphon

Sounds like a hardware problem with the headphone jack. Most headphone jacks have a separate contact for sensing and if the contact is stuck the system will think headphones are still plugged in. You can try plugging the headphones in and out fast several times, but generally the jack is not repairable. Many Laptops have a small "daughter board" with the I/O on it and if the jack is the problem that board will have to be replaced.

So I built this computer a few weeks ago with Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything sound-wise has been working til a few days ago, but I have been working through some video problems.
Since this started on Friday, the sound mixer/volume control shows sound playing. But nothing comes out the speakers. When I click the top, it doesn't say 'speakers', it says 'Realtek audio'. When I click that, the sound window comes up and under "jacks" it says "rear optical jack." The top says S/PDIF. Those are both formats that I have never used on this system. I've always used only the rear panel analog jack.

Anyways, I feel like I've tried everything under the sun and I'm close to RMA'ing the motherboard. It's that bad. Anyhelp is uber appreciated. Thanks guys

A:No audio in speakers -at all-, Windows is playing sound

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, your "Speakers" should be set as the default playback device. It sounds like the digital is now set as playback.

Hey @dpoole810,  Welcome to the HP Forums!  I see you are having an issue with the sound coming through the Headphones on your HP ENVY Notebook. Try this: In the Device Manager, right-click on Double-click on Sound, video, and game controllers and select the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver Update Driver Software. Choose the option to Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. The Notebook should find and automatically install the updated driverAfter the installation is complete, restart your Notebook. Here is a link to Microsoft to troubleshoot the sound if you need it. Please let me know how this goes. Please click the Thumbs up if you feel this post has helped you.   Thanks.

Out of nowhere I've had a problem with the audio of my laptop. Audio plays from both the laptop speakers and the headphones when they are plugged in. I've tried setting the headphones as default device in playback settings but this doesn't work. The headphones don't work when I try to test them either. I've had a look around online and haven't found any solutions yet. I tried updating the audio drivers but that didn't get the job done either.

My computer uses the Realtek HD Audio Manager. I have headphones plugged into the front panel and speakers plugged into the board itself on the back. I use nircmd to switch the default audio device between the speakers and headphones.

When I have the headphones set as the default device, audio plays out only the headphones. When the speakers are the default device, audio plays out both the speakers and the headphones. I can't figure out how to actually disable audio from the headphones when the speakers are the default device (short of disabling the actual device or unplugging it).

How can I properly disable the headphones when I want to use the speakers?

Hi;
I dual booted win7 along with win xp . My sound card , Zonar Dg works fine in xp . i loaded the drivers for win7 . The sound bar in the speaker in task bar shows audio is playing and also shows playing in Zonar program . No sound is coming from speakers .

Note : Sound did come from speakers one time . I think it was a video but no sound from any mp3 files on my pc . Sound since has never worked . Only that one time . Very odd I think .

I have tried all the usual things since I am used to re installing xp many times . not muted . DG card selected as default . Speakers set to proper mode in zonar app .

I tried using the realtek audio on my motherboard , which does work in XP . Not working in 7 .

I am stumpped on this one . Maybe I could use the xp compatibility ? Never used this so really do not know much about it .

thank you for any help .

A:No sound from speakers but audio playing

If you have the RealTek enabled, disable it in the BIOS. It can cause conflicts and potentially the problem you have. Windows 7 will only allow one default audio playback device, unlike XP that would allow more.

I have my headphones plugged in and the audio is playing music through the speakers and through the head phones. Originally there was a message by Dell Audio telling me "You just plugged a device into the audio jack" then a millisecond later "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack". I have my headphones plugged in but those messages keep popping up.
I deleted and reinstalled Realtek and this is still happening. I pushed the headphones into the audio jack real hard and it stayed at "You just plugged a device into the audio jack" for a little while then it went back to "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack". This is driving me crazy. I just want to listen to music through my headphones

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate back in March of 2009, and it is working perfectly, except for one error that has appeared just earlier today. When I plug headphones into my laptop, it does not recognise this, and does not channel audio into them - it just plays through the laptop speakers. I did not do anything which could trigger such an odd problem, to my knowledge. I used Apple Software Update to upgrade my installation of the Safari web browser, and then restarted my machine.

When it had booted up again, I opened iTunes and began to listen to music. It began playing through the speakers, so confused as I was, I tried another pair of headphones, as well as a pair of earbuds. I have installed newer audio card drivers, and it has not rectified the problem, so I really have no idea what is goign on. I'd love to simply try System Restore, but I don't believe I ever set it up, meaning I do not have a previous point to go back to. Please, if you can think of any other possible solutions, do tell me!

This is now completely irrelevant. After messing around with Realtek Audio Manager, everything is working again. Wonderful.

If all else fails, I should be able to purchase a set of speakers and use those, am I correct?

Hey everyone,

I hope I can get some help here. I'm on a Samsung NC10 Netbook with Windows XP (service pack 3). I'm accessing the internet through a wired connection, which in turn goes through a router.

For some reason, my computer has started playing what sounds like a coorporate radio ad at random intervals. It's just a quick 5-second bit, but it is annoying and I can't figure out why it's happening. I don't run ICQ, AIM, MSN, or any other program like that, so that's not the source of the audio.

So far, it has always been the same ad. It usually happens while Firefox is open. I think the ad is for a TV show; it has a male voice saying "You asked for more, so the guys are back" and concludes with "a new season starting soon", or something along those lines. The ad is usually preceeded by 2-3 random "clicking" sounds, although I'm not clicking anything.

I routinely scan my system using Avira Antivrus as well as Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. Avira did, in fact, alert me of a "html script virus" today, which I chose to delete. (Unfortunately, I didn't save a log file. Dumb, I know.) MBAM cleared out some stuff as well. According to both programs, my system should now be clean; -- however, the problem persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Help needed: Audio ad playing randomly over speakers

P.S.:

Almost forgot, -- the audio ads are usually preceeded by 3-5 fast "clicking" sounds, even when I'm not clicking anything. I have been told that these clicks are evidence of something tapping into the windows explorer, though I'll leave that up to you.

On another note, a third clip just "surfaced". The TV show ad always seems to come first, though.

On Sunday random adverts began playing on my laptop speakers. There's no video, just audio. It plays at random points throughout the day. Even when all applications are closed and all i can see is my desktop the adverts will still randomly begin playing. I can't listen to music or watch videos without the adverts randomly interrupting and playing at the same time. I've used AVG Free edition to scan for viruses, Spybot search & destroy and SUPER Antispyware. None of these could stop the adverts. I tried going through every process in task manager while the adverts were playing to see if i could find it but i couldn't. I looked in the volume mixer of the volume icon in the system tray when the adverts were playing but no apps were present. I initially asked for help in another forum, where they told me to upload a log using Hijackthis, which i did, and from that log they told me to fix 'R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555', which i did. This seemed to solve the problem. Until the adverts started again yesterday. I was then told about this website, which is why I'm here now as this is my last hope before i end up formatting my hard drive I have read your rules, and will only listen to your advise from now. I will not be returning to the forum i initially went to. If i had known about this forum i would have come here first.Any help would be much apprecia... Read more

Hi there, I've noticed that out of the blue, when I play any sound through the Dell speakers on my system, the vocals and some of the music sounds like it's echoing or very distant. I've played the same music through a pair of USB headphones and it sounds fine so I can only deduce that it's a problem with either the speakers or the sounds card/driver. I have turned off all presets/effects and the issue is still there. I hope someone might have some clues as to why this is happening. The driver is the latest available from Dell. Cheers, Pete

I have a laptop that since this weekend has random audio playing from the speakers anytime it is connected to the internet.  There appears to be no applications running in the background.  It only plays when connected to the internet. Under "Volume Mixer" I see a "Name Not Available" that seems to be the sources of the audio.  Neither MBAM and Kaspersky TDSS found anything at all.  I have a current DDS log and a GMER log if you would like to see them.

I've inspected all of the startup items and all running processes and can't spot the culprit.  In searching around on BleepingComputer it seems a few others have had the same thing in the last couple of weeks and that it was a rootkit.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi all,

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1 using the same hardware as before, and have encountered a strange problem that I can't find the solution to.

I'm using an Alesis IO|2 usb audio interface (which my speakers are connected to) and a Razer Megalodon usb headset. Both are completely functional when used independently (ie. if I'm not using my headset, everything plays through my speakers fine, and vice versa).

However, there are many situations where I'm used to having audio coming through my headset and speakers at the same time. For example, if I'm on a Skype call I'm used to having the call audio coming out of my headset while still being able to play music etc out of my speakers.

The problem: Since using Windows 8.1, when trying to do this, both my speaker and headset audio breaks down completely into sporadic glitchy & loud crackles. If I want to listen to music while talking on Skype I have to disable my speakers (in windows playback devices screen) to force all audio out of my headset.

Neither of my USB devices has drivers associated with them, and I have the latest firmware on both, leading me to believe this is some problem with Windows. Has anyone got any ideas? I've spent hours trying to resolve this and have yet to even find someone with the same problem...

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

I have two monitors (one VGA and one HDMI ) to the CPU (new XPS 8700), but sound only comes out of the monitor speaker with the HDMI connection.  The other speaker does work and has been tested with a 3.5MM speaker cable.
The video card is NVIDA GTX 745.  In the audio set-up control panel from the NVIDIA, I disabled audio from the HDMI thinking that I could then run 3.5MM cable on a Y splitter to the audio out port and by-pass the HDMI cable.  I tried every port and either experienced no sound or sound in one or the other speaker.
I realize these speakers are not the best and I am fine with them.  I like the clean clutter desktop look.
Can anyone help me to get both of these monitor speakers working?

Heya.I've got an HP dv7t-7000. I've a recent Win10 clean install on it and I cannot get the speakers to work properly. This particular machine comes with a pair of Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofers, which means it has two run of the mill laptop speakers and an additional subwoofer under each speaker. I have installed the latest drivers from HP's driver page. They actually don't have drivers for Win10, so I'm using the Win8.1 ones. The installation runs smoothly and I can see the Beats Audio control panel. However, only the normal laptop speakers are being driven. No sound comes out of the subwoofers. After a lot of attempts with HP's drivers: installing with compatibility mode on, telling windows to update the drivers from the device manager, and tweaking every possible setting in the sound controls, I wound up in this reddit thread. I followed the steps, essentially replacing the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC that came with HP's drivers with Win10's generic High Definition Audio Driver. Naturally, this has removed the Beats Audio control panel since it removed the previous drivers that came with it.There are 3 sound devices according to the device manager: High Definition Audio Device (Speakers), Intel Audio1 and nVidia Audio1 (1 These names may not be accurate, I have no access to my computer right now). I suspect the Intel device manages HDMI audio (this may be completely off), however I've tried installing Win10's generic drivers to check if it had anything to do with t... Read more

Hi there, I've been having some real frustrating experiences trying to get my speakers to work. it all started when I replaced my hard drive after the old one died. The speakers I plugged in via audio/ headphone jack stopped working. The computer doesnt recognize any playback devices through the jack. But it will recognize my usb headphones no problem. I've tried every possible solution to this problem already listed on other sites (updating drivers, checking sound to enabled disabled audio devices, ect.) and none of them have worked. Any ideas? Also please dont post the whole "go to device manager and update drivers, or check sound to enable devices", I;ve already done that and it didnt work. Im looking for some real insight, not just a "solve all" solution.

A:Windows 7 will not detect speakers via audio jack.

I remember having a similar issue years ago and it turned out my speakers were analog and the card was digital. When I swapped something out, I had to correct the settings on the speaker.

The Laptop originally ran on Windows 7 and I updated the OS to windows 8
and upon doing this the audio stopped completely from all audio sources (ie windows sounds,speakers,line- in/heaphone jack)

I tried Disable/Reenable driver,Rollback driver,uninstall/reinstall and discovered that the driver is not supported for windows 8.
Upon learning this I have tried other Audio Drivers (i.e. Realtek HD Drivers etc) and no avail.

I?ve recently updated to Windows 8.1 and it auto reinstalled the original audio driver and still, no sound.
I have also checked all Audio Codecs and still no luck even going that route.

When I play an mp3 on let?s say wmplayer the volume bar will move up and down with the levels of the song that?s playing as per usual but I get no sound.
Volume level can be at 100% and there won?t be any noise at all, no distortion, white noise, just silence.

This happens no matter how sound is being produced music, videos, games, internet, windows sounds etc? And trying to get audio from headphone jack doesn?t work either.

Does anyone know of any solutions to the out of date driver issue... Read more

A:No Audio or Sounds from Speakers after upgade to Windows 8

Which do you have? The Conexant or RealTek? You must have the correct driver. e.g. the RealTek will not work with the Conexant, or the Conexant will not work with RealTek hardware.

8.1 does have some compatibility problems with some devices. Its sporadic and not all is affected. But, if it didn't work with Win 8, it may not be an 8.1 problem. In most cases (actually all that I've seen) Vista/Win 7 sound drivers work with Windows 8. (In my case I have RealTek and the Windows 7 drivers are compatible with Win 8 and Win 8.1).

One other thing to check is the Default Audio Playback device. Assuming you have the correct sound driver installed, the "Speakers" (PC's sound card) should be set as the default audio playback device. If HDMI or Digital is set, the speakers will not work.

I have 2 Samsung TV's hooked up to my PC, as well as a set of speakers. I am able to set the individual sound of each (Volume Control Panel), can set certain programs on a certain TVs or the speakers, I can set any of them as the default, but I can't figure out a way to male them all work at once, having all sounds pass through all three. Is this possible?

A:How do I make audio come out TV speakers and PC speakers simultaniously

Not that I'm aware. You can only set a single "default" device in Windows.

Hi,

I'm using a Packard Bell laptop, Windows Vista and a Realtek sound card.

I've searched a lot to find how to NOT mute my laptop speakers when I insert something in the audio-out-jack.

The next threads say it's not possible by the hardware:
techspot.com/vb/topic140707.html
techspot.com/vb/topic130170.html
They're closed, so I can't comment on them.

BUT when I dual boot to Ubuntu (using the same hardware), I can easily choose to mute the internal speakers, or the jack, or none at all. So why can't it be possible on Vista?

A:Same audio through laptop speakers and external speakers

You answered your own question... It's a software/OS issue. If Vista's Realtek options in the Control Panel don't give you the same options as in Ubuntu, you're out of luck

I've posted this issue before on numerous support fourms, and none of them or I could figure out this issue. It's been driving me nuts.

A couple months ago I cleaned my computer (plugged everything out, cleaned the area/computer, etc.) when I put everything back together and booted up, I had no sound, but the tray icon indicated sound was indeed going through. As far as I knew nothing had been changed. I made sure everything was plugged in correctly, reinstalled the drivers, made sure I didn't click something off I shouldn't have, but still nothing. But then I plugged in headphones into the tower headphone jack, and boom I had sound. I was as surprised as everyone else. Someone suggested then, to rule out a hardware issue, that I download Ubuntu and see if the sound problem occurs there. It didn't, I had sound coming out of my speakers.

I would hate to re-install Win, as I've gone without doing so for five years. But if it came down to it, it's whatever.

I use the on-board sound from my MB, as I've learned over the years sound cards are a thing of the past. But perhaps I could reattach the old one I have? It's sadly over 10 years old however, I don't know if it would be worth trying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Major cudos if we're able to figure this out once and for all. Good luck

My system:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
AMD Phenom II X4 965
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 (on-board sound)
Ripjaws 8 GB
Nvida Geforce GTX 780

I have the SiliconHarbor Multimedia Speaker System. Although they are brandnew, they've worked before. I have 3.5 Ghz CPU (Duron) and 256 MB RAM, + XP. I installed my K7 333 Motherboard from PCCHIPS manually. I cannot hear any sounds from them at all, although they are connected correctly and the volume is up and all that jazz. When i click on volume control i get this:

No active mixer devices availiable.

When i tried to use the windows troubleshoot, several of there questions dealt wth Device Manager.

Here's what i have under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers

Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs

Supposedly, my "sound device" is supposed to be there, but i have no idea which one of those is my speaker system. All of these are now working properly, yet no drivers are installed on them. When i try to, it fails because the "data is invalid"

??

Under Other Hardware, one device, with a symbol of Question Mark and a Exclamation point is marked Multimedia Audio Controller. THis too had no drivers, and when it searches it cant find any, and im not connected to the internet on my PC. I am guessing this is my speaker system.

Under Sound and Audio Device properties, i cannot change any settings because there is " No Audio Device", yet my speakers are hooked up on the back of the PC correctly and whatnot.

A:Audio Hardware Conflict or just Windows doesnt recognize speakers

Speakers are invisible to your computer. All your computer cares about is running the sound card and putting a signal in the audio out (where you plug in your speakers). The problem with your system is that your sound card is not recognized/installed. You'll need to obtain the drivers for your sound card and install them. Once you've done this, then your Sounds and Audio Devices properties will then have an audio device to select.

You'll need to identify what model motherboard you have and download the driver. (pcchips.com).

FYI, there is no 3.5Ghz Duron

Hello Everybody,
I thought I'd create an account so that I could share / brag about making the internal speaker on the OptiPlex 760 (and presumably others) work with Windows 10 and likely Windows 8, as well.
When I upgraded from Windows 7, one of the first things I noticed (once I realized it had booted up and I was staring at the desktop and not a splash screen) was that the sound wasn't working.  There was an installed driver (courtesy of Microsoft), a generic HD Audio that probably came from Analog Devices, themselves.  It noticed that there weren't headphones (front) or speakers (back) plugged in, but not the internal speaker.
After some (unsuccessful) fiddling around, and searching, I found this post from 2009 (right around the release of Windows 7).
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3513/t/19299870

That worked well for Windows 7 using the Vista drivers, so I went in search of the Windows 7 drivers (which had since been released) in the hopes that it'd work for Windows 8 or 10 (update R228257):
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=66TNR

Booyah!  I didn't even need to run the installer in compatibility mode!

A:DELL OptiPlex 760 Internal Speakers and Windows 10 (ADI 198x integrated audio drivers)

I, too, have an Optiplex 760 made in 2008 that I have updated to Windows 10 Pro.  Since I usually use an external speaker, I didn't notice this issue at first - until I tried the front headphone jack; there was no sound, and plugging in the headphones didn't silence the external speakers.  Eventually, I found the Sound tool in Control panel that lets you choose either the external speaker jack on the back or the front panel headphone jack and the internal speaker.  My current audio driver is the Win10 version, 10.0.10586.0.
What I'd like to clarify is whether you are having to choose which connector to use, as I am, or whether that driver will let you have a speaker plugged into the rear panel jack and still use the front panel headphone jack without having to choose in Control Panel - as it worked in Windows 7.

Sometimes it stops, but whenever I play sound in the computer it always in the background. After a bit of researching I found that what cause this is the Nvidia drivers that installed, when I disable them, it stops. How can I fix this? I don't want to keep these drivers disabled since I need to use the Nvidia video graphic from time to time.(btw I tried to switch between Realtek drivers to windows generic drivers, It didn't work) Thanks in advance!

Hi.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of you Thinkpad? Are you using Windows 10?

I have a TP Y 14 (20DM008UUS) with one of those ThinkPad In-Ear Headphones (57Y4488) (and Windows 10 64bits) and I don't apreciate any static sound while hearing music or videos.

How are you disabling the Nvidia drivers, from Windows Device Manager? Disabling the NVidia display adapter worked for you to remove the noise sound?

I always try to keep the Thinkpad Yogas driver up to date. Do you want to give it a try updating the Nvidia and the Realtek drivers?

Let me know your model number and we will check the support page for the latest drivers.

Hi, my problem is that connecting the headphone to the jack behind the docking station both headphones and PC speakers are audible. I tried a 840 g2 on my docking station, and it works fine. I tried my 840 g3 on another docking station and have the same issue. I think it may be a driver issue, but it is my work PC and i have no administrator privileges. Thank you.

Hi, hope you guys can help/guide me out.

So I receive a gift a couple of months ago, but did not have the chance to test it until now.

I have a set of audio speakers+sub-woofer, if you take a look at the pics (specially the back.jpg) the speakers are connected through a RCA cable, and where says input its a 3.5mm cable that goes into the computer (speakers output)

Now when I connected them to the PC, the sub-woofer and right speakers works fine, but the left is not producing audio at all. I find out that both speakers are working fine if I connected them in the red output/R, seems the left one is not working. At first I thought it was config of my PC I did download the latest drivers from Realtek Website, I tried the ones that comes from the DVD/Motherboard (ASROCK H81M-HDS) and same issue. I tried multiple settings from the audio devices (5.1 surround, quadraphonic, stereo) but no success.

Finally what I did is that I connected the system to my Galaxy S3 smartphone and another audio system as well and I have the same issue, no audio coming from the output Left/White, Subwoofer is working fine, and output/Red(Right) is working fine. I'm not sure if its due to the fact that system receives the signal from a 3.5mm cable and then has to send it through 3 outputs (L/R RCA speakers and the subwoofer)

What I'm trying to find out is, if this something related to the audio system itself, or does the PC and S3 need a configuration?
In case is something related (hardware) of the a... Read more

A:Audio 2.1 Speakers+Subwoofer, one speaker not outputting audio

As the speakers do the same thing on two different systems it says there is a problem with the speaker system. I see RCA connectors on the rear for the two speakers. Switch the connections (connect the right speaker to the Left jack and the left speaker to the right jack) and see if it follows the speaker or if its the Left output from the speaker base. That will isolate where the problem is. If its the speaker base unit, the problem could be the cable that connects to the PC or it could be an internal amplifier problem. However, in either case if the speaker system is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer for warranty assistance.

In most cases these are not made to be repaired, but I see screws holding the back on, the base unit, and you may be able to get into the electronics. However, without a schematic you are probably not going to find any problems.

Hi all,

I'd be grateful for any advice to my problem....

Last month I bought a new PC, a Dell XPS 8500 with an Intel Core i7-3770 processor. The PC has onboard audio (Realtek High Definition Audio).

I didn't buy new speakers as I have a perfectly usable set of Creative 6.1 speakers.

My problem is that although my computer plays Windows event sounds through all the speakers, applications such as iTunes only emit sound through the front pair.

I have googled the problem and as a result have configured the Realtek to use 7.1 audio but without the side pair.

Also, I have disabled the Realtek driver and have reloaded by asking Windows to select the best available.

But still the problem persists.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

dagi

A:No audio except front speakers (Dell, Realtek Audio)

First, for proper operation you must use the Dell supplied sound driver. Non-Dell will either not work or install or will not work properly, and that includes the basic function Windows installed HD Audio Codec.

6.1 is an oddball speaker configuration for current technology systems, its either 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1.

I used to do a lot of support on the Dell users forum (community) and recall that certain applications will only play audio through "stereo" speakers only. My experience on the Dell forum (I had over 37,000 posts and am still registered) also is the reason I note the Dell supplied sound driver.

You could also post on the Dell community Desktop hardware section and one of the user experts there may have more suggestions.

Hello, i hope i can get some help here, as ive seen tons of other users around the net recently getting this same annoying virus or malware, whatever it is, that plays uncontrollable, unstoppable ad-sounds.

Id like to make a few things 100% clear just to rule anything out for the tech support here.

It started around 8 or 9 am if i remember correctly. I was working on some art; using paint tool sai, watching youtube, and on skype with one of my good friends. Suddenly the computer without warning REBOOTED, without any provocation. I make sure NOT to visit any risky sites; i only frequent aol.com, youtube.com, tumblr, and a few art sites such as Deviantart. I had not visited ANY risky sites or downloaded ANY risky material to cause this virus,  have NO clue how it got on my computer, as i am a generally suspicious and careful person who tries desperately hard to avoid these situations.

Once the system had rebooted, i got back into my skype call thinking it was very weird and by this point i was nervous and anxiety was taking over, but within minutes of the reboot, loud ads, news reports, music, and other stuff started playing shockingly loud, overlapping each others ads sometimes.

It came at regular intervals and was unstoppable. I went into task manager to watch my processes and saw NOTHING out of the ordinary. I have gaming rig computer, and i saw nothing visible [to myself] that could be considered suspicious. I read many sites, i... Read more

Hi,

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
 rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until instructed.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
After the tool has finished running, a text file named Rkill.txt should be located on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents into your next reply.

When i open playback devices all I have is NVIDIA HDMI Output (port 0) and (port 1), both of which show unplugged and disabled. I have disabled and disconnected devices set to show, but those are all that show. I have reinstalled drivers, reinstalled windows, downloaded Realtek, enabled onboard audio in BIOS, but nothing has fixed the problem so far. When I boot into Ubuntu via USB, the audio works fine.

Starting today, I constantly have this audio playing in the background which sounds like some foreign radio with ads. Although it is very feint, I still can hear it. The weird thing is, if i restart my computer, I start hearing it even before putting in my password, meaning it's probably not a program that I need to physically open (chrome, etc). The weird part is that even when I mute my computer, I can still hear it. It's a Lenovo ThinkPad 450s, I just got it this January and I have kept it bloat-free with very few programs installed. I find nothing suspicious in the task manager, and I have ran Adwcleaner, Malware bytes, and Windows Defender full scan and they've caught nothing. I would very much appreciate any help I can get on this. I am posting this in the security subforum because others with this problem seemed to relate this to a Trojan. Thank you for taking your time to read this and I eagerly await for your responses.

Ok - Windows Gurus.

I have windows media player on the machine. Everything has worked smoothly for months now. I now have a problem with media player 10. When I click on a link to view streaming video, the clip will buffer for a bit, then the 1st frame of the video comes up/freezes and the audio continues on.

If I close media player and click on the same clip, both the video and audio work fine. What is causing the video to freeze (audio continues to play) when I click on the video clips the first time around.

If I try to play something locally, there are no problems. It is only with streaming content and this is a new issue. Software wise, I have been authoring a handful of DVDs but outside of that, nothing has changed.

I have tried to reinstall media 10, reinstall the codec packs etc. All other media players play fine (real audio, winamp etc)- no video freeze. So this is only inherent to wmp10. Weird.

Any other thoughts on what has been altered to cause the video freeze?

I am all for suggestions and thanks in advance for the help!

I have recently installed windows media player 10 and have a problem with it. Whenever i play an audio file in media player, media player becomes very slow and unresponsive. i have also discovered it is using between 90-99% of my cpu usage while playing audio files. if i use another media player (ie winamp) i do not have this problem, but i prefer to use media player. n e suggestions???

A:Windows Media Player 10 playing audio files

you can roll it back to wmp9 in add/remove-windows componets and delete the wmp10 install file. then redownload it. but you may have some conflict or it could be just a bad file. i like 9 better then 10 anyway.

Hello,

I am working on the Windows XP OS, and recently had to fight off a couple of Downloader virus infections. Since then, my computer keeps playing random audio files that I have never downloaded onto my computer, mostly ads for something, and at one point, the beginnning of a baseball game. CPU activity spikes when the files are played, but there is no way to stop them, and no visible reason they'd be playing (I won't even have a browser up when they play). I've tried using msconfig to keep things I don't recognize from starting up, but that doesn't appear to be the problem. Google searches for the same problem haven't turned up anything helpful, and now my computer is also turning up a lot of popups, even when my browser is not open (yes, I do have cable Internet).

I think it's a virus, but I've run several virus and malware/spyware programs (PC Doctor, Spybot, several antivirus programs, including Norton), and nothing is catching it. Any ideas on what this is and how to fix it?

I've gone through the five steps and posted my Panda ActiveScan and Deckard/Hijack This logs below. Thanks for any help you can give me!!

I am using windows vista and using windows media player 11 to watch dvds. The english audio does not work when playing dvds, even though US english is the default setting and I select US english in the dvd settings. The background music plays and with one dvd I managed to hear some dialogue. Every other language that I select (e.g french, german, english for hearing impaired) works. I have tried numerous DVDs so it is not a dvd problem, and I have tried those dvds on a laptop and it works fine. So it is not an audio problem, nor a faulty dvd. Am I missing a codec or something or is it in the wrong region (I live in Australia) I dont have any other dvd players on this computer so I can't test it out that it is just a WMP problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello!

I have a Creative Inspire T6160 speaker system, although my new motherboard only has 1x mic in and 1x stereo jack, so I was wondering if I could play sound from all the speakers simultaneously? Not surround obviously, but just the same audio stream. All the satellites are the same, I can connect them to whichever port on the back of the sub as I like.
The back looks like this FYI .

A:Playing from all speakers in 5.1 pc speakers!

Maybe if the 3 PC connections were connected together to the one output, it may work if you can find a three way adapter. I don't know if that will work, just a thought.

Might be better to just get a sound card that will support 5.1.

I've never seen a "do it yourself" motherboard with just two jacks like yours has.

Windows Media player keeps getting interrupted by "things" other programs?
Media player keeps getting interrupted by "things" - other programs I guess. Both while playing mp3's and music videos. It doesn't shut down. It just sort of shorts out the music... until I guess whatever is finished bothering it.

It happens
-When I try to rename files or move them around in Windows Explorer [not the ones playing].

-While on the internet. No certain reason that I can see. The websites/webpages I have open don't appear to have any media player music playing. It happens when I use either IE or Foxfire browsers.

Is there a button or something I can select that can keep Windows Media Player from being affected by other programs? It is verY irritating.

I have the following MUTED in volume control:
wavetable
line-in

I've been having a problem recently with windows audio. For some unknown reason the windows audio service keeps failing/crashing but I've noticed this has been happening when using my music player then playing a youtube video in Chrome. After that all sound stops and I can't hear it. I can get sound back by manually restarting the windows audio service but its annoying to do every time I want to listen to music and play a video or something after. To clarify I've been using said music player and chrome for a long time now but this problem has been happening just recently. I've also tried updating flash player to no avail.

Hello TechSupportForum :)

I am currently having issues with my asus laptop; since two days ago, it has been behaving strange:
1. The files/folders that I used to save on the desktop (under my account, i.e. user) are missing. I can only find some of the program shortcut such as Mozilla Firefox, Nitro Reader, AVG2013, etc.

However, sometimes those shortcuts, when double-clicked, would work and sometimes wouldn't. When would work, the program behaves as if it were the first time I used it, with the welcome screen or tips... When wouldn't work, it pops up a small dialog, stating at the top of the bar: "Windows Security" then at the next part it says: "These files can't be opened. Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened." And then there is a link to "Why these files can't be opened?"

When I click the link, it takes me to the Windows Help and support dialog; which shows the setting for the Internet Explorer, such as the zone for local, intranet, etc...

One weird thing about this first issue is that when I look in the C:\windows\Users\User\Desktop ; my files and folders are there. But again, sometimes are okay to open, sometimes aren't.

Like when I chose to save the dds.scr on my desktop, it was saved well...but I wasn't able to locate in the desktop. Then I tried running the file without saving it in the first place, but there was no such option...then I tried changing the default location of downloaded file t... Read more

Hi

I've been stuggling with this for a few hours now and am at the end of my wits..

I've got two audio devices that I would like to link to my PC at once.
I've got one plug connected to the back panel, and one to the front. But one always cuts off the other. In my sound devices, the system registers them both as: "speakers, VIA High Definition Audio, Standard device"

Is there any way that I can connect them both at once, and still have both of them outputting audio?

I hope the internet will save the day!

Many thanks in advance!

If you use realtek,

I was having problems with my Mic so uninstalled my audio drivers and reinstalled them all. Now when ever I talk into my Mic my voice comes through the speakers which it never used to do.

I've checked my volume controls and audio driver settings but can not seem to find a setting that prevents this from happening. I've also tried swapping jack sockets that are being used.

I'm running XP Home and the sound is provided through Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager 5.10.00.5152

Any help appreciated

I've tried plugging and replugging them, but they just won't play. The first time, the icon on the toolbar (the little volume control) wasn't there, and the computer said it didn't have speakers. After unplugging and replugging, the icon is back (unmuted), but the speakers still won't actually play. They have power but they won't play. Help!!

I know that most audio is only 2.1 anyway but is there a way to get it to come out of the other speaker? I have updated drivers and this hasn't helped.

Look in the Realtek control panel for the speaker fill option, that should get all the speakers working from a stereo source.

A:no audio speakers but audio from earphones

Have a thorough read of your mobo manual and you will easily see the problem.

You will notice there is audio in and out for each channel and that the default setting is the in and out jumpered together for each channel in order for the back panel to work.

Some front panel audio sockets are switched so that the speakers plugged into the back will shut off when a headphone is plugged into the front, cheaper ones are not switched.

You will probably need to make or buy 2 Y pieces to allow everything to work properly.

I need some help and not sure what to do next? Seems this problem is common but I can't seem to get it down. I'm far from a expert so please help me...

My dad has a Compaq presario SR5550f w/ Vista 32bit w/ service pack 2 up to date.
When he try's to play audio cd's he get's this message.

Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged. Turn on Error correction, and then try again.

CD player plays only 1 minute and 3 seconds before error-ing out (although still plays DVDs). So, I thought Ok, let me rip his music and he can play off his comp. But when I try to rip audio it's goes about 20% and gives me a read error.

So, I turned on Error correction and nothing.

Seen in a few forums that I should update the drivers.

I uninstalled the burner driver from the device manager and nothing still.

I updated his Nvidia graphics driver just fine but it didn't find any thing for the motherboard?

I also updated his audio driver from the hp website.

So, after all that I thought maybe it's a hard ware issue? So, I changed out this burner for a new one and it still does the same thing?

have tested other cd-rs & retail audio disc. For some reason it's just audio's and ripping?

The other day he watched a whole dvd movie just fine!

Hello everyone. I am using a old-ish Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. So, every time I'm playing songs on YouTube, then open FL Studio 10, FLS 10 won't let me play or record any audio. When I look at the "ASIO4ALL" box it has A little red "X" on audio output(I use "Realtek HD Audio" if that helps). Now when I stop the internet audio/YouTube and restart FLS 10, the little red "X" is gone and all the sound works... I was wondering how to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10 is there something I can tweak with the laptop audio or some better sound program I can download free(or not free)and not have to get a new sound card??? Thank you for your time. Peace.

I noticed that very occasionally, my computer will hang. Nothing will respond, not even Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and the only way out of it is to force a shut down by holding down the power button.

I also noticed that this has always occurred when audio is playing. The audio will loop infinitely once the computer hangs. Sometimes, when I hold down the power button for a while, the system will unhang. Other times it will not.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
Sound card: Realtek ALC662
I should also mention that the machine is a laptop!

I can't update to the latest Realtek drivers because that causes the sound to start crackling and fizzing really badly (stupid bug). I also don't have any minidumps as the computer doesn't get a BSOD, it just hangs and I have to force shutdown.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem or what I can do to help you solve this problem?

Hello,

Starting about a week ago whenever any audio is being played through my computer (speaker or headphone) I will hear a buzzing sound and occasionally the audio with skip. This happens weather I am playing audio that is being streamed from the internet or that is on my computer directly.

I have tried several things to fix this problem including installing all windows updates that are available as well as updating my audio drivers.

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My computer model is hp pavilion dv7t quad 6100 and I have IDT high definition audio codec driver version 6.10.6381.0 which my computer says is the latest driver version. Updating to this version has not solved the problem, however.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. If there is additional info that is neccesary, please let me know and I will post it.

A:IDT High Def Audio, buzzing sound when playing any sort of audio.

Unplug the speakers from the PC and see if you still get the buzz with headphones. Some "buzz" problems can be related to "AC power ground loop" problems if some separately powered devices are connected.

Noise and skipping are problems that have been posted here before. There is no "one fix" for that. There are possible hardware problems, drivers (including video drivers), Interrupt issues, Wi Fi caused, etc.

Skipping can be because the other device that is on the shared Interrupt that the sound is on is interrupting the sound. Sound is always on a shared interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. You can try this: go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect the sound and reinstall it and some times put it on a different shared IRQ.

I'm unfortunately somewhat computer illiterate, so bear with me as I try to break down the issue I'm encountering.

I use an online database called Verint Impact 360 to gather audio files from a company's call center. I have the Verint codecs (VerintCodecs.exe) installed on my Windows PC which allow me to play the audio files using Windows Media Player. However, when I try to open the files using a customized program designed by my company, I'm unable to play the calls.

We had an IT member that found a way to convert the calls into a usable format with OpenOffice Spreadsheet by renaming the files. Unfortunately, he's since left the company, and I was unable to determine how he was able to convert the calls.

So, I guess my question is: Is there some way to embed the codec into the call file so that it could be played on other platforms?

Summary: -The calls are in .wav format -I have installed on the computer VerintCodecs.exe -I can only play the audio files in Windows Media Player (I've tried on the customized program and VLC, neither of which work)

I would greatly appreciate if someone could give me some guidance.

A:Solved: Playing audio files that require a codec in programs other than Windows Media

If VLC will not play the files, then they are not the usual format of a .wav file
However, playing WAV files on VLC is rather effortless. That’s because VLC comes equipped with the digital programming that instructs it how to handle data sent via the WAV format. Here’s a step-by-step procedure for playing WAV files on the VLC.
1) After you have downloaded and installed the VLC player, open the VLC media player.
2) The VLC media player will display on your screen. On the menu bar, click on “Media.”
3) A drop-down window appears. Click on “Open File” and navigate to the location of the WAV file.
4) Click on the file in the “Select one or more files to open” window or once you are in the folder that the file is located in, type the name of the file in the “File name” window.
5) Click on the “Open” button. The file will load and the VLC media player will begin playing it automatically.

Unlike XP, I can't seem to unmute the line in so that I can play the audio. I have a little app in OS X that does this perfectly for me, but I can't seem to find a Windows equivalent, and I have to use Vista for this because OS X won't give my 360 an open NAT. The speakers still have power and turn on. I tried plugging them into my Ipod, nothing. Tried just the left speaker in my Ipod and it actually worked!
(Setup= left speaker to the right speaker, right speaker to the sub woofer, sub to the computer and wall.)
I don't think it's software because head phones work with my computer.
So, does anyone have any ideas why the speakers don't work?

Thanks!!
-Lcircus

P.S. Speaker serial number: CHW0529366

A:My speakers quite playing sound for me... help plz!

setup you write is common for altec lansing speaker, but can you tell us what series is yours? I mean if you cant try to find the pic on the internet.

I know what you mean by putting in the left speaker to the ipod. It was just like a piece of ACS45.1

Do you know how long have been your speaker works? If it;s old, maybe some component need to be replaced i.e wires and some capacitor.

My mic is constantly playing through my speakers what it hears, even when I go into my sound options and disable the device. It's plugged in through my sound card's mic jack.
I use it for gaming, so I can't just unplug it. Can someone please explain to me how to make it stop playing what it hears. I'm using the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

A:Mic constantly playing through speakers.

Looks at speakers in speaker properties, make sure mic is muted.

Hey.

I have Logitech X-530 speakers, a 5.1 setup. Yesterday I wanted to use my headset to play a game, so I had to change my settings to stereo to get the sound out of both the left and right headphones. When I had finished, I changed it back to 5.1 through the control panel, but now the sound is only playing out of the left and right speakers. All speakers are functional, since when I test it through the control panel the 'bing' sound plays through all one-by-one. The speakers worked fully in 5.1 before I changed the settings.

Windows Vista 32bit SP2.

Thanks.

have you tried giving you computer a system restore this should store all your old factory settings if you do not know how to do this just reply back for more help thank you

I keep hearing random audio ads or music coming from my speakers every now and then. I also noticed that in Windows Task Manager it shows two iexplorer.exe processes are running, and whenever I try to End Process they pop back up a few seconds later and I'm not sure if this is normal but svchost.exe is using a lot of memory. Also often when I search for websites on google it redirects me to random websites. And when following the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help" when I double click the Windows Firewall icon in the control panel I get a error window stating "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings." I could not create a GMER Log, during the scanning process I always eventually get the blue screen of death.

My Laptop speakers and earphones are playing at the same time and I've been having this problem since yesterday. This has been giving me headaches just from pure rage because every single "solution" I found online doesn't work for me

I've been told to check playback devices and set headsets as default playback device but it doesn't even show the headset option

A:Headphones and speakers playing at the same time

Plus, I've reinstall my drivers and they are up to date!

and On the internet I've also found a thread where they told me to check the Analog Cog settings on realtek but there isn't even an option to do it. The analog device buttons are un-clickable.

Even in the advanced settings on realtek there's nothing but "recording device" settings.

Here's what's on my realtek

Googled this to no end, with no help. I own this laptop:

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 Laptop: Core i7-740QM 1.60GHz, 15.6" 1366x768 LED, 8GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Radeon HD 5730 1GB, 6-Cell, Win 7 Prem $899 + Free Shipping - Slickdeals.net

While I use my speakers (built in, external, headphones, ANYTHING) to play any sounds, it is crystal clear. However, as soon as I stop playing, a white noise static (which sounds like interference?) starts buzzing.

I stumbled upon a temporary fix (which I'm hoping might lead to an experienced user helping me identify the root):

Open the Recording tab in Sounds (this screen http://img1.uploadscreenshot.com/ima...53855-orig.jpg )

As soon as that tab opens, the sound ends. I can then have complete silence! As soon as I leave the tab, the sound resumes. As soon as I disable both devices, the sound resumes.

Any ideas? Anything else I can provide to help?

A:Static coming through speakers when nothing is playing

Any help would be appreciated :)

Well it pretty much says it in the title...My Computer will randomly play ads through my speakers for no reason at all. Internet Explorer doesn't even have to be open and its really annoying. (the ads are like commerical ads, like for dishwashing stuff, ect..) I recently downloaded a movie of of limewire PRO and when the download was finished it a little box poped up in the right side bottom corner that said " a recent attack from b.exe has been prevented" or something like that.

I'm using Windows Vista if that helps any. Also, im using Norton Anti-Virus and i ran a complete scan and it came back clean. I've searched google and everything and i couldn't find anything that could fix it.

Please try to use beginner lingo if you have a solution haha

Thanks.

I'm on vista and am trying to play my 360 through my PC speakers, I have the RCA to headphone jack converter. Although following a tutorial on how to do this, it didn't work, finding out that I had to plug the RCA to headphone jack into the line in socket (blue). Still no sound from the speakers when 360 is on but when looking on the control panel it shows sound being produced via the volume indication bars. I'm not sure if this is because of the crappy stock sound card I've got (Sigmatel or something?)?

I've also ordered a pair of X-140 speakers which have headphone/aux support so will it work with those without buying a new soundcard???

Thanks for your help guys,
BC.

If you have the "jack re-tasking" option then you can set that blue
audio port to work as line in.normally, the blue or green audio
ports are for line outs.check your motherboard's manual on
how to assign your audio ports.

Any speakers with Aux in/line in with built-in amplifier will do.(A
not so complicated set-up.)

Hi, Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information. Regards, DP-K

Hello....

When I plug in my headphones, my speakers just keep on playing(although the headphones also play the audio). The headphones won't show up under audio devices, and I've tried two different sets of headphones.

Does anyone know how to stop this? It was working fine yesterday....

I use Windows 7.

THANK YOU!

A:Headphones and speakers playing at the same time?

Hello OctoberOwl and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since everything was working fine yesterday I'd try using system restore to return my computer to a date/time prior to when the audio problem first started.

System Restore

If system restore doesn't help you might have to go into control panel > sounds to see what your default settings are. There are several previous forum threads that provide possible solutions. For example:

Speakers and headphones play at the same time?

Selecting headphones or speakers as default

And a couple of threads from the Microsoft Answers forum:

Headphones + Speakers at the same time - Microsoft Answers

Audio playback through headphones and speakers - Microsoft Answers

Hi I have got a windows 8 64 bit laptop and just the past couple of days iv had this problem when I plug my headphones in I am still hearing sound coming from my laptop speakers and from my headphones at the same time. At first I thought this was a problem with my headphones so I decided to try different ones but I still had the same problem ( and yes the headphones are fully plugged in). This is clearly a problem with my laptop and not my headphones. I have been to the control panel and tried changing settings with my sound but NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING!. I have also tried doing a system restore but that didn't help either . It would be much appreciated if anyone could help me solve this problem as it is really annoying!. Thanks in advance

A:Headphones and speakers playing at same time HELP!

What sound do you have? e.g. Realtek, Conexant, etc?

Realtek has an HD Control Panel and there is an option to mute the speakers when a headset is connected or as yours is doing not mute the speakers. I don't have anything except Realtek but I know some of the other sound hardware's have similar settings.

The Realtek is located in Control Panel/Hardware and Sound.

I'm new to this forum, but I've been having a problem for a while now.

Whenever I unplug my headphones, my computer has absolutely no sound.

When I do plug in my headphones, the headphones AND speakers turn on.

The speakers are built into my monitor, plus they're playing with the headphones plugged in, so there definitely isn't anything wrong with them.

I've tried messing around with Realtek and just a simple restart/shut down, and nothing has happened.

A:Why are the speakers and headphones playing at the same time?

So pretty much what is happening is my speakers will start to buzz when sound isnt playing. I have an Audigy 2 soundblaster but when I go to update my drivers on my sound stuff its Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC.

When I play music or anything that produces a sound on my computer, my speakers work great! But when there is a pause in sound playing, I get this buzzing sound that is at the same level of volume as the sound or music playing before it paused. Now this problem goes off and on but im tired of having to deal with it.

I updated my drivers on it and for a while it worked fine, then all of the sudden it came back again.

What would be great is if anybody would know how to fix this damn problem! Thanks in advance to helping me out!

I have a HP G62 series laptop with Realtek HD Audio Manager and an iSymphony NC1 Headphone with a male to male 3.5 mm cord connected to my audio output jack. The jack on my laptop is loose, but I can still hear sound coming from both sides of the headphones. The problem is that the internal speakers still play and the headphones don't show up on my devices menu or in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Does someone know anything about how to fix this? Help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Headphones and speakers playing at the same time

It would appear from your description that you have a mechanical fault with the headphone jack. When you insert the plug into the socket there is a contact that is switched telling the system that something has been inserted into the socket - this signal is used to switch off the speakers.

As this is a laptop it is probably beyond most PC users to make a repair, although this is possible, I would suggest you contact your local PC repair outfit who will normally be able to replace the socket for a reasonable cost

Hi,

I have a HP probook 4530s with win 7 Home premium 64 bit. Till yesterday i was able to hear sound only from my headphones but today when i started my system i was getting sound from both my headphones and speakers. I tried re installing my drivers and all but still the same issue. Kindly let me know any other solution for it.

AND YES I AM HAVING IDT High Defination Audio CODEC DEVICE

THANKS IN ADVANCE.,..

A:Why are the speakers and headphones playing at the same time?

Check for a setting in the audio. Many, have an audio configuration panel and an option to mute the speakers when the headphone is connected or not.

I don't have IDT so I can't say exactly where that is at.

Another option, if it worked yesterday and not today, use the System Restore and restore the PC back to an available restore date when it did work correctly. (System restore will not delete any user data). System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools.
