Q: Lenovo H50 Freezing/not responding during sleep mo...

Hi. I'm having the following warning: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0001 I have a Lenovo H50 Desktop (Win 10) and last night or early this morning something happened to my PC as when I went to use it, I did see the power light still on (screen was in power saver mode, but when I clicked on any key or on the mouse, nothing was happening and the PC was apparantly unresponsive (or in some sort of "hibernation") and I had to basically hold down the power button until the PC shut off. I then powered it back on but still nothing happened. So, before I started to freak out (I got this PC in December so not that long ago), I again held down the power button to force shutoff then I unplugged the PC for a minute or two, then plugged back in and powered the PC back on. At least this time it booted up, but it seemed to come up to the "lock screen" rather than the usual main login screen - again as if it was in some sort of strange sleep or hibernation mode with someone logged in.. I then confirmed this by choosing to restart the system and it did give a warning that some users may lose information..blah blah, but I chose to do the fresh restart anyway. After the restart, it booted up normally to the main login screen. I did look in the event viewer but did NOT see any Critical events in the past hr or 24 hrs, a few Errors (none that I could see that explained the freeze) but saw these Warnings: ? Is something occasionally freezing my PC while in sleep mode? Please advise or let me know what else is needed? Thanks

I've been experiencing a lot of weird quirks with my Yoga 2, and I'm not sure whether Windows 8.1, my specific combination or drivers, or a hardware issue is to blame.  The most consistent, and annoying issue, is the laptop constantly freezes after putting it to sleep.  It is almost transparent -- I never see the blue screen, because I've already closed the laptop.  I just open it up, the Lenovo logo pops up, and it turns out my computer has rebooted.  The windows event log confirms that a critical error has occurred. I've performed a factory reset and it still occurs.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

A:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Freezing after sleep

Hi,I have the same problem with my yoga 2 pro. I've tried to find solutions but none of them work for me. My best guess is that the new hardware have compatibility issues with windows 8.1. My spec is i7 4500 8GB RAM 256GB SSDBTW, you can avoid this frustration by disable Sleep mode. I use Hybernate mode for both my power botton and lid-close actions. Setting are in Power Options.I hope Lenovo take this seriously, it's a shame that we have to experience all this. Don't they care about branding?

Office 2000 works great from a clean boot or reboot, but I cannot use any Office program after coming back from sleep mode. Excel, Word, ect., they all freeze and go into NOT RESPONDING if I my computer was in sleep mode. I have even performed Office Repairs and it still hangs (until I reboot). I am not using any Add-ins or Macros, and no other program on my system has any problem with sleep mode. Running as administrator does not fix. Running in compatability mode does not fix.

Please don't tell me to upgrade because I have googled and found others have the same problem, even with Office '07. I would be mighty PO'ed if I spent over $100 for the latest and greatest in an attempt to fix just this, only to come out with the same problem. Please don't tell me to wipe my hard drive and re-install windows, that is not a solution I am willing to consider. And please don't tell me to install some free .org office clone, that is not a solution to my problem.

A:Office Not Responding After Sleep

You certainly know what you DON'T want

Try updating your BIOS, your printer drivers (if any), and as many of the other drivers on your machine as you can think of: NIC, video, sound, anti-virus, 3rd-party firewalls... update them all, and keep testing in between updates.

Anything that fails only after power state transitions (resuming from sleep in this case) suggests that one or more drivers are not handling the transition as well as they should be, plus the BIOS might be at fault too.

Then again, Office 2000 really is old. You're right in saying that updating to Office 2K7 wouldn't be a guaranteed solution, but you're not doing yourself any favours with a suite that's almost a decade old.

The screen is blank as if the computer is off and the LCD screen is not lit black. Please help me as I am heavy on the sleep function.
Thank you in advance!

Hello

Sometimes (NOT ALWAYS) my laptop simply doesn't respond when I put it to sleep mode. I just click put to sleep, then it is behaving like it is going to sleep, but then it "freezes" on black screen, HDD is running, fan is running, led indicator is flashing, but it doesnt respond. The only solution is to turn it off by holding power button for several seconds. I thought that it was problem of my previous Windows (W7U SP1 64bit), but now I'm using W8.1Pro 64bit for 2 weeks and today, it happened again ! my BIOS is up to date, and drivers too (as I made full instalation by myself, not just some sort of upgrade). I also have disabled "hybrid sleep". and I also unchecked "allow computer to turn off this device" and "... to wake up computer by this device" on everything like USB devices and network adapters., but no change. Any suggestions ?

I have a suspicion that it has something to do with wi-fi, as it didn't happen when I was connected just with ethernet cable for 2 weeks, but it happened today as I started to use wireless connection (home network) as I came back home.

Dear community, I have this rather special issue that I would like to ask for your assistance with. The case: I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd generation (20A7) running Windows 10 x64. One day, the touchpad stopped working, but initially by making the cursor jump around the screen when I used the touchpad and later with no response at all. Currently, neither the touchpad or the trackpoint work and only when combining all of my effort and luck (emphasis on the latter) I can get a response. For instance, I recently had luck reinstalling the UltraNav driver which made the touchpad respond, though rather "patchy", but only until I restarted the computer. The background: I bought the laptop while living the United States but have since moved to Denmark where I cannot use what remains of my warranty. I tried calling the Lenovo callcenter and an employee suggested that I enabled the touchpad in the BIOS and reinstalled the driver, but when that did not work, he fell short on advice. It seems that those guys are primarily there to help old people create a password and what not. The twist: I am aware that one excellent possible solution to my issue is that I can do a clean install of Windows on my device. However, I currently have a limited use version of some very expensive software installed and I need that in my daily work and cannot get a new version right away, so doing that would set me back quite a lot.&nbs... A:Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd 20A7 touchpad not responding

Hello and welcome,

It seems that you're leaning toward a software rather than a hardware problem.  You might try booting a live Linux USB flash drive to verify that the hardware works.

It's typical for ThinkPads to have international warrantees.  Have you verified your specific coverage?   SUPPORT above, then International Services in the Warranty and Repair drop-down.

If your machine is eligible for local warranty service they will probably reinstall the OS as a diagnostic - and possible repair - effort.  If you can isolate to a hardware issue as suggested above you might avoid that step.

I just bought a new Lenovo z70 (i7, 16gb ram, nvidia processor, 1tb HD, etc, running Windows 10) and it will randomly go to sleep while I'm in the middle of doing something. To date, it's happened all but once while playing games. The screen will go black and then the machine will sleep. I need to hit the space-bar and enter in my password to get everything to come back. It's pretty instant and quick, so it's not like the laptop needs to completely reboot when this happens. It's also happened once while doing something else. I can't imagine that it's an overheating issue or anything like that given that the specs should be more than enough to handle the game I play. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue might be? Thanks in advance!

When i close the lid or turn off the laptop the first time, it is fine, and goes to sleep and i can wake it up again. But the second time i do it, the power light stays on and doesn't blink like it shoud, and when i try to awake it, it doesn't wake up, but i still cannot hear the hard drive, the screen doesn't turn on. I have tried turning on or off Hybrid sleep, resetting the laptop, closing the lid slower, closing the lid faster, every time, it just freezes and i have to hard reset it. The laptop is only 1 day old, and has an almost fresh install of Windows 7, with Minecraft, Firefox, Speedfan and Ultradefrag installed. I tried searching online, but i found apsolutely nothing. Hi there @petersonlandm, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having issues with waking from sleep and hibernate and the keyboard and mouse not responding when you do. I am happy to help with this. Please check out this page: HP PCs - Sleep and Hibernate Issues (Windows 10, 8). You will want to check all of it, but be sure you have see your computer to wake from either the keyboard and mouse, and in the power settings the USB ports and wireless or Bluetooth are getting power when sleep/hibernate goes on.   Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. The computer has done this 25 times in the last three months.

Please let me know what additional info i can provide to help understand what the issue is. Factory resetting the computer is an option. I haven't done it yet in case it doesn't fix the issue, and I lose my event log data.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Laptop goes to sleep when playing games. I did a clean install of windows, updated to the new "37" BIOS, updated all drivers, and it still persists. Lenovo chat support was abysmal, they didn't understand that I had drivers updated and just randomly decided to end my chat without further support. This is just so **bleep** annoying, All i can say is, my first experience with Lenovo has been horrible.

Brand new 710S out of the box with Windows 10 OEM installed 64bit.  Initial setup and Windows update all ran smoothly.  But a big problem appears when it goes to sleep... it won't wake up from sleep.   I have to power off and power on, sometimes twice to get it back.  I see this is  a common problem with other models but I'm opening this thread here to let community know it's also a problem with this new model too.

After upgrading to Windows 10, my Horizon 2s would get stuck with power on whenever I tried to sleep or shut down.My only recourse was to depress the power switch for 5 seconds, forcing a power-down.Eventually, I traced this behaviour to the "Lenovo Silver Silk Keyboard Software" which appears in the Task Manager Startup tab. After disabling that process startup in that tab, sleep and shutdown work as expected. The keyboard and mouse still work, so I have no idea what that software does.I hope this posting helps anyone else having this problem.

I posted earlier today about a T440p laptop that was crashing during sleep. Another user at our organization is having similar issues on his Lenovo W541 laptop.

The issue is that after being put to sleep, the laptop sometimes does not successfully resume, leading to the black screen on resume that gives you the options to start windows normally or boot in safe mode. It happens inconsistently, but often (54 times in the last 3 months). I have attached the required files.

I am a novice at looking at the debug files. However, I noticed alot of references to pci.sys and netwsw02, which i believe relates to the Intel Wifi driver. Am i on the right path here?

Hopefully the issues between the two machines are similar. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a lenovo W530.   About 8 weeks ago it started having a problem that when I try to get it to sleep by just closing the lid, it doesn't.   The problem is not consistent, but it happening several times per week.   When I close the lid, it is usually because I'm packing my bags to go to another location.   The laptop remains powered on, the screen remains powered on, and then it gets SUPER hot.   Like can't touch the laptop with your hands without burning yourself hot. Since I couldn't figure out why sometimes it would sleep and sometimes it wouldn't, I thought maybe it wasn't "detecting" the lid close, so I decided to try to sleep it manually and THEN close the lid. Frequently, it just won't sleep.   I go to the start menu (Windows 7) and tell it to Sleep, and the screen goes black, but I continue to have the "Wireless activity" light lit solid and the "hard drive activity" light will flicker for a very long time.  It never sleeps.   Of course, at that point, I've also lost the ability to CANCEL the sleep and save my files and log out, etc.    Eventually, I either have to power off through holding the power button down until it "clicks". If I close the lid anyway, and put my laptop in my bag, it "superheats" and either the battery goes so low it hibernates, or it stays on, but when I open the lid again it has power-cycled and I have to enter my PGP Full Disk Encryption password to start up. Any sug... Sometimes, when Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit RTM resumes from sleep, the mouse stops responding. It doesn't happen every time, it seems to be random. The mouse is Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, with all the latest drivers. It's the only problem I have with the system coming back from sleep. The mouse is connected to an usb port, my pc doesn't have a ps2 port for the mouse. The mouse buttons work after sleep, but the pointer doesn't move. If I unplug it and plug it back in, it does come back to life. But I would like it to avoid this.

A: Mouse stops responding when pc resumes from sleep (suspend to ram). Why?

Hi CooperdaleThe only information we have with this behavior is that it was a known bug in the RC bersion and still exists to some extent in the RTM build. They are working on this and will hopefully have a fix in the form of a compatibility update. Until then, you will just need to deal with the unplg/plug to make it work.Regards.Thank You for testing Windows 7

I recently got an HP 2311x Monitor for Christmas and hooked it to a Lenovo H200 tower. I am unable to get past Windows splash screen. BIOS says "we apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." I have tried going into safe mode and just about every other option to no avail. I asked HP tech support to see if bad monitor but it is fine. I also called Lenovo Idea tech support and they said a tech will call back. I think something is uncompatible with Lenovo and HP monitor. It worked just fine when it was hooked to an old CRT. Cant handle the latest flat screen technology perhaps?. Any suggestions?

A:Lenovo H Series Desktop is not responding to recent HP 2311x monitor

Do you know anyone you can borrow another monitor from?

Have you checked monitor settings to make sure frequencies are within the range supported by your display device?

Another option would be to manually disable the display adapter driver. What type of display adapter is involved? Intel, NVIDIA, AMD?

I've tried re-charging it from zero battery, hard reset, putting the lid up and down, combining that with hard reset too. what to do? Do I have to send it somewhere? Obviously I don't want to open the thing up, I'd rather leave that to a professional. cheers.

The screen would first vaguely twinkling for several times from a little bright black color to the entire black color, but not easy to obseve, and the laptop screen just never would go to the start page. Thank you for a solution!

Hi Xsin,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Has anyone had any issues with their Flex 3 laptop getting stuck in sleep mode?  I've called Lenovo support twice about this issue.  The problem was not fixed at all on the first attempt.  After the second attempt....I thought they fixed the issue; however, it still happens but less frequently.  Just purchased this laptop in February 2016 and I'm about to throw it in the trash!

I've got a Lenovo K450e with Windows 10. When I click on Start->Power->Sleep the computer shuts down just like it's supposed to, but after 1-2 minutes, it begins making a lot of noise, despite being in sleep mode. I haven't had this problem with other computers. The only reason I put the computer in sleep mode is that I'd like it to be completely silent. How to solve this?

Hi All,

For the last 3-4 days every time I put my laptop into sleep mode or click shut down, it goes through the normal shut down process, the screen turns black, but then never turns off.

This happens when the lid is closed, sleep or hibernate is clicked, or if shut down is clicked.

I'm running Windows 7 with the latest Nvidia drivers and windows updates.

I've used BSOD viewer, appcrashviewer and wincrashviewer but none seem to be recording these system hangs.

I did disk check and it found no problems, as well as windows repair and it found nothing. When I go to "Check Memory" within windows repair it attempts to restart, but does the same hang when trying to restart and thus doesn't run.

I also started up the laptop with everything but windows startup programs not running to see if that solved the hanging but it still was happening.

It seems to be a driver problem or something having to do with the software, but I cant track down what the problem is.

Are there any other programs I can run to try and diagnose the problem and fix it?

Thank you!

How silly is that when you buy a new computer state of the arts blabla really cool and then every so many minutes its shuts down into sleep mode with no appeared solution within the normal setting. I do a lot of playing around with photo and video editing and that makes me watch slide shows a lot to check how it is going to look only to find my screen going black over and over again grrrrrr or watching internet tv.....what a crap. Anyway I am a complete know nothing when it comes to computers but your instructions were so easy and clear that even I solved it. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for your effort to put this online!

Kindest regards.
Bianca

UPDATE:
It is still going to black screen grrrrr. Although the sleep option has turned grey as you said it would after restarting this computer my first try to watch a slideshow was cut short after it went back onto a black screen only after about 15 photo's. What to do next? any suggestions? Thanks.

Even worse it started going into sleep while I was browsing the net as well.

While I was using skype trying to recieve help to solve this problem I let a slideshow run as I did before but no sleep mode was activated. Skype running at the same time obviously kept the computer from going into sleep mode.

Check the power options, nearly all new computers are default to go into sleep mode as an energy saver. You can disable these in Start -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change when the computer sleeps

Anyone experience this?  I plan on using this primarily with a printer (no display) and want it to remain on at all times.  I've gone in to try and mess with power settings but it seems I only have a setting for display, so I checked it to make sure it is always on (display).  This seems to keep the stick from falling asleep, which is exactly what I want.   Still messing around with it, I figured I would turn the display off over night and turn back on when I came in to see if the stick was still on.  When I turned the monitor on , I got a "no source signal" message.  While the blue light of the device was on, it seemed that it may have gone to sleep or shut down by itself.  I tried to type on the keyboard to wake it up but nothing.   I basically had to restart it. Anybody know if this is possible?  I need the thing to always be awake without a monitor.  Thanks. I'm running the Windows 10 stick with the updated BIOS

Please help! I've been using sleep mode for pretty much the entire time that I have had this laptop (one month plus).  This is the first time I sent it into sleep mode for the evening and awoke the next day to find that the laptop refuses to wake up.  The keyboard will light up merrily along with the power button, but the screen will not turn on.  The fans are also running full tilt.  I can hear them running loud and clear, which is abnormal as during normal operations I cannot hear this machine running at all.  After having a jet engine for a previous laptop, this was one of my favorite features of the Flex 3. I have tried doing a ton of different things to get the laptop to wake up again including power resets and using the Novo button.  Nothing has worked.  If I could get at the battery and motherboard battery without voiding my warranty, I would.  My only solution is to try to run the battery down by leaving it on with the keyboard lights as bright as they will go and let the fan run like a jet engine.  Hopefully this will drain the battery in faster than the 4 days that everyone else was reporting.  Anyways, I don't know how everyone's Flex 3's lasted that long on battery anyways.  Mine kept turning itself on. The point of this post is to ask what I can do so that this issue never crops up again.   I love this machine, but if this becomes a recurring problem, I'm going to have to can it and g... Hi. I have a Lenovo C440 All-in-One deskstop computer. I've had it for about two years. In the poast few days, it has been waking up on its own whenever I put it into sleep mode. What is causing this and how do I fix it? It came with Windows 8 and I upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago. I wonder if the Windows 10 upgrade has something to do with it but I'm not sure. I ran a full scan using Norton antivirus software today but obviously that didn't fix anything. So how do I fix this problem?

Hi I'd like to get some help.  My Lenovo Edge (purchased in Nov 2015) does not come back from sleep mode and I have to restart it - loosing all work.  This just started happening recently - since a day or so.  It's very inconvinient as I have to carry an open laptop from one meeting to another. Previously, I'd close the lid (in between meetings) and open it and would get the log on screen.  Now the light on number and Caps lock stays on...and the computer keeps humming, but the logon screen does not come up and it stays black.  I have to hold the power button down continuously and when it shuts down, then I have to restart (or start) as all apps have closed, including signing on the WIFI and  VPN also.  Please help!

A:My Lenovo Edge 2 wont' come back from sleep

I had the exact same problem with my new Lenovo Edge 2.  The retailer correctly determined that it was a hardware problem and sent in the laptop to be repaired.  It came back in about a week and a half.  According to the manufacturer, they had to change the motherboard (and other parts attached to it, including the graphics card).  Now it wakes up from sleep but has another - more serious - problem.  It would not get started..  It just repeatedly restarts - restart boot loop.  I am taking my laptop again to them for another round of repairs.  It's only been a month since I bought it, and Lenovo has already given me enough headache, with enough time wasted, futile efforts expended, and insecurity suffered from potential data loss that can occur during the repairs (I cannot back up the data because the system would not start!!).  I am sick and tired of Lenovo and will hate it for the rest of my life!!!  Of course, I am not buying another Lenovo ever.  I am seriously considering tossing this piece of junk (for which I paid $700) and getting another laptop (because they would not get me a new one - they will just keep on repairing it until the one year warranty period is over), but I will give them another try...

If I ctrl alt delete and end the firefox process, I can go back to using my computer... I can even successfully reopen firefox... but the moment I try to view a video again, I get this problem.

My Windows Media Player works just fine, and I'm able to play games offline.

I often get a freezing situation sometimes with my Internet Explorer browser, where it will open, then not respond. If I am to click on a link, the drop down appears, but then I get no response from the browser, it becomes non-responding. The same thing happens when I hit the 'START' button, then I click 'Programs', the programs list pops-up, but then it won't highlight or recognize the programs. This happens at different times and once it happens, the only solution I have currently is rebooting which works, but then anytime from a day to a week, it re-occurs. I even use he latest Anti-Virus, FireWall and spyware. I do not know what triggers this, but when it happens, all window lists become inactive once they appear. Any solution would be helpful. Thanks!

I used to use Firefox a lot until about a year or so ago when it kept freezing while you were searching. It just freezes and shows (Not Responding) on the top. It takes about 5 maybe 10 seconds each time it happens. But it does happen a lot. I also seem to notice it does it more as you go longer into the browsing session (not sure if this is relevant).

I use windows 7, and have been using Chrome more because it seems faster and doesn't hang much. Is there a way to fix firefox from hanging?

Hi, First time posting

Windows XP Pro (up-to-date), IE version 6.0.2900.2180 SP2

When i try to "open a link in a new window", click on a link that needs to open a new window to display, or mouse over words that should display a yellow box or a new window. Nothing happens, but however if i right and left click a few times on the taskbar for about 10 -15 seconds after clicking a link to open a new window, it will work, but just clicking on it and waiting for it to open like it use to normally, never happens.

This has started to happen about a week ago. I have run adware, spybot, bazooka, and tried the iefix, but to no help. I have also done the regsvr32 thing. I have hijackthis but im new at it. I have also noticed that my computer has slowed down and hangs a lot more often when browsing through folders. Sometimes it hangs so long that it doesn't respond and i have to do the ctrl+alt+del thing and end it. This also happens with IE.

If someone out there can help me plz that would greatly be appreciated, thanks.

A:Computer Freezing-Not Responding to ANYTHING

when a PC freezes it can indicate hardware failure, could be power supply or hard drive. Check power supply voltage. If you are losing CMOS settings (time, etc) check motherboard battery. When booting have CMOS check all memory (turn off quick boot). Just a few possibilities.

I have a two week old Lenovo X1 Carbon 20A7 and from the beginning after simply got Windows7 initial setup with nothing else on, I noted that if I left it to go in sleep or Hibernate, when the lid was closed, upon opening it again, the notebook screen was black although the adaptive keyboard was active and the machine was pingable from the network. No matter what I did I could not get the unit to come back to life so I always had to press the power button until it power cycled to get it back. I noted that I was not alone out there and some reported the issue on earlier X1's Support suggested to send it back and were not helping much. They decided it is either hardware or configuration issue, and in both cases it required a return.  Because the issue was reported in the forums on earlier X1's I decided that it was probably software and I started by disabling all sleep modes only to find out it would still go to sleep. This is how I found out that if the sleep mode was disabled in Power Manager, it would automatically enable in Windows version of the power manager. Disable it in Windows and it would enable in Power manager... yeah - exactly; I had the same reaction.. Same thing with other power functions. So I de-installed Power Manager 6 and bingo, no more issues. But now I get non critical warnings  in Lenovo tools that I have no power manager software installed. Plus I don't get the extra features that are useful in PM6. ... Read more

Hello all, I bought my lenovo Edge 2-1580 in December, but recently, the display won't turn on after I wake it up from sleep mode. The rest of the notebook still turns on and the power button is lit, but the screen will stay black even if I move the mouse or press any keys. I have to do a manual shutdown and then turn it on again, which works but then the problem occurs again when it goes to sleep mode. I've updated the drivers and disabled the notebook from going to sleep, but if I manually put it into sleep mode the problem continues. I've seen this as a common issue regarding Windows 10 as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I just resolved this issue recently with my Flex 3 1580, so hopefully my solution works for you.  First, update the video/graphics driver (intel or nvidia) from the Drivers & Software page on support.lenovo.com.  Test sleep mode again.  If the screen is still not turning back on, then update your BIOS.  Back on the Drivers & Software page, look for the latest BIOS update and run it.  In both cases, but especially for the BIOS update, make sure your laptop is plugged in.

Only 48 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 80 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The memory dumps blame usbccgp.sys, but MSINFO32 lists ks.sys (kernel streaming of video driver)
And this seems to happen during a power down event (such as power off/hibernate/sleep/etc)

Finally, what applications do you delay using Startup Delayer?
What USB devices do you have connected?

I'm concerned about your version of Diskkeeper as it dates from Jan 2013 - well before Win8.1 was released.
Can you update it? If not, please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

A:Lenovo y700 screen doesn't wake up from sleep

Hi bouga ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on the support site for   Notebook IP Y700-15ISK I7 , seems no BIOS update needed for this model.
Typically even on Win Vista and Windows 7 that issue with sleep has been related to hybrid features.

Method 1 : You may try to disable it using the cmd elevated for the command  powercfg -h off .
Check on this video link for the guide steps

Method 2 : Setting Power option to High Performance instead of conservation mode . then manualy setting sleep on the start icon

Continue to apply neccessary updates that may correct this issue but for the time being , you can use Method 2 as alternate solution if method 1 fail to correct it.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Hello, Lenovo team Can you please, add to your next BIOS update for Lenovo Y50-70 a fix, that my laptop won't lose CPU speed after i return my laptop from sleep mode. Right now i'm using BIOS version (3.03) There is no other way to fix this issue, only you can do it with a BIOS update for that model of laptop. Thank you.

Greetings! I recently bought a new laptop, Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 15-ISK, with Windows 10 Home preloaded. I found a minor problem that happens frequently. After the laptop is idled for a period of time, 5 or 10 mins depending on plugged in or not as you know, the laptop first turns off display, then goes into sleep mode after another 5 or 10 mins. The problem is, after I come back and try to turn it back on, the screen stays black. However, I can see that the laptop is indeed responding by pressing NumLock, CapLock, or in my case, Fn-Space to turn on/off the backlight of keyboard. I checked and I have the latest windows updates and latest drivers for everything. So, any brilliant idea on this issue? Thanks in advanced.

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Y700-No-power-no-display/td-p/2228277 Does it goes to normal after reset? If yes turn off hibernate mode as soon as possible!!! you will find a way to do it in the thread above. If it doesn't go back to normal and you are stuck with a brick then the only solution is to send it for a warranty repair. There is a bug in the bios which causes that.

Hey guys this has finally gotten to the point of annoyance. I Like to put my Laptop to sleep when I leave the office and wake it up when I get home. It BSOD every time. Your help is greatly appreciated. I have rebuilt the machine thinking that would resolve the issue. I still need to install AV but have left it off until I can fix the issue.

Please let me know what other files I may need.

I'm not sure what information to give besides that.
It will freeze up and not respond whenever I try to use the internet, go to pictures/documents/music, or click the start menu. Sometimes if I wait (longest time waited so far is 30 minutes) it will start again, only to freeze a little while later. I ran my antivirus software and tried troubleshooting any problems. I have not visited any new sites or downloaded any new software that could cause a problem. It has been doing this for about 2 days now. I tried backing up my files but it ran into an error. Any other information that you need, just tell me,

I am fixing a HP Pavilion a1300 Desktop PC series. It is running XP and has 1GB of RAM. It did have a virus on it and was going really slow. I removed the virus and have run AVG, Malwarebytes, SAS and they all come up clean. I have done disk clean -up, defrag, removed cookies and temp files etc.. It seems to be running noticeably better, except for one thing. It just hangs and you can't do anything. It will say not responding and sometimes it's browsing and sometimes it's when I am not on the Internet. Sometimes it won't allow me to close a program and I have to press alt/control/delete. This problem is extremely frustrating and would like to fix this issue before returning the ladies PC. The system is very dirty with dust everywhere, therefore I will clean that out. I have viewed the event viewer, but it's just hard to understand the errors and what they mean. There is tons of HP Games on the PC. It also takes longer than usual to download software. Can someone tell me how this problem is caused and what to do to fix it? Thanks

A:Windows XP hangs, not responding, freezing etc

Try cleaning it up good first. Paying particular attention to the processor heat sink and fan as well as the power supply fan.

See if that does not give a noticeable boost. What you are describing are classic overheating symptoms.

You say it was it this slow prior to cleaning the infection, has it improved any?

I have a Dell XPS Laptop that is running Vista 64 bit. The trouble started just after I tried to install software for a high tech calculator. The calculator never worked properly with the software installed. After this the computer started to perform poorly. It would freeze during browsing, It also gets halfway through a disk defrag and stops completely. I am doing a checkdisk as we speak and it is taking about 16hrs which I am sure is sign of trouble. I did choose the option to attempt to repair bad sectors. Should I abort the check disk scan? Does all these symptoms point to a hardware or software problem. I am so tempted to install W7 as I am not a big fan of Windows Vista. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Hi,

Just in the past 48 hours my computer has developed a mind of its own. It freezes at every turn, system not responding errors with just about everything i do. I'm running a Win 7 Ult., 32-bit, 2 GB Sony Vaio laptop that worked flawlessly a few months ago. I did just pull it out of its case for the first time in a while.

I've tried to repair windows, repair registry, i even ran registry mechanic. I went for a system restore but no restore points are present (which seems odd, as i don't remember turning it off).

I'm checking the event logs and i don't see any "red x", so not sure how to tell what is causing the problem. My only solution so far has been to restart the computer, but then it just hangs again on me shortly thereafter.

I need some help here.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Somehow I have no system restore dates. I don't know what else to do. Note, the problem is not only with Firefox but happens randomly with other applications as well. My hijinkthis log is below. I have a Dell XPS pc running WIndows 7 (64 bit operating system).  My problems began last week when the computer would not shut down properly.  I had to do a hard shutdown.  Since then, the computer would initially start normally, but within 5 minutes, I would get things to the effect of (e.g.) Firefox not responding, and things would hang.  I could not do a normal shutdown, but rather I would have to hold down the power button to shut off the computer.  At first, I was able to do a system restore to an earlier point, but the last time I tried to use a particular restore point, this failed. When I last had the computer on, something is beginning to hide all of my programs and files.  The computer will not open any application.  For the icons that are still visible, I get the message "The item you selected is unavailable.  It might have been moved, renamed or removed.  Do you want to remove it from the list?" (this example occurred with microsoft excel and mixcraft 5, as examples). I ran malwarebytes twice in safe mode but it was unable to find anything. The only way I can run my computer at all now is by going into safe mode.  I'm at my wits end.  Please help!EDIT: moved to Malware Removal ~~ boopme

All right,
So I've been poking around the internet for a couple weeks trying to solve this issue and it seems like many people are having similar issues with sleep/hibernation resume in Windows 7, but I didn't find anything identical to my particular problem. Everything pretty much works fine with the computer except for a few minor issues (mouse key sticks a bit, sometimes presses when it shouldn't, etc.), but when I close the lid of the computer and it goes into sleep (or hibernation, if it's closed long enough) mode and then try to open it again later, the display will not turn on. The fan, lights, etc. on the computer still work and I can still type and what I type goes through. So the only problem is with the display. It will randomly work, and then not work other times. This problem has been with the computer since I bought it; I should have just returned it when I had the warranty but oh well. Tried installing and updating all drivers, they're fine. Tried poking around in advanced settings and no changes there have yielded positive results. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? My computer is a Lenovo S205. Many thanks,
Caleb*
P.S. because of the problem I've had to coldboot the computer many times.

I have owned the laptop for several years, with no BSOD problems. The new install was after Lenovo had updated their drivers for rescue disks for the very fast Lenovo W520.

As instructed, I am attaching for upload my System Information file, and the SF Diagnostic Tool info.

Help is greatly appreciate!

Thanks!

A:BSOD When Coming Out of Sleep Mode, After New Install Lenovo W520

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Also update the display driver. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Let us know the results.

Hello all, could someone have a look at my dmp files. Although windbg points in the direction of PCI.SYS causing the stop errors, my knowlegde is far from sufficient to take the next step. When the laptop goes into sleep or hibernation mode, it crashes. Pretty consistent. Problem was introduced after an huge automatic update but this is something I realesed myself later. Thank you!

After a HDD failure, I had to replace it and re-install Windows 7 with the disc I got from Dell. After it installed, I used the Dell driver disc and installed all the appropriate drivers. All seemed fine and dandy, until I closed my laptop and opened it later, ready to use it again. Sadly, within a minute of it waking from sleep after logging in, it completely hard froze, requiring me to hold the power button and restart. Thinking this was a fluke, I just used it after it re-booted and all went well. The next time I woke it from sleep, it froze again! The problem has persisted ever since. It doesn't freeze everytime after sleep, but it does freeze 8/10 times. I've googled everything, checked all my drivers, checked for errors in the logs, and nothing can pinpoint why it keeps freezing. If I shut it down and reboot it, it works perfectly and never freezes. Before the freeze, I can sometimes notice the computer slowing down and usually the taskbar freezes before anything else, then the whole system locks up. The most recent freeze came after it awoke from hibernation. The computer can just be sitting idle and it'll freeze but it can sit at the log in menu and never freeze. Any help would be appreciated. I know there are lots of thread on 7 Freezing and a lot are from me, but i have done a lot to try and fix and maybe now u can narrow your choice down more.

Okay so when i had Windows Vista, every time it woke from sleep blue screen error. Then i did an upgrade to 7 keeping my files and 7 would freeze after waking from sleep. I through it was my internet because.. it would connect to the internet and sometime freeze at getting data on weather app, but its not because i have disable internet and tryed. I get a blue screen error if i log off put it to sleep and wake up. I tried system repair, no luck.

I did a clean install of Windows 7, at 1st when it had no programs on it, it dident freeze, well i only tried it once. (Might not be the case) I cant understand what problem would cause it to freeze i have everything closed. Could it be my AVG?

Anyway i went into to BIOS to see if it was on S3 and it was.

So what is the problem if you have a solution is my AVG.

After all it might no be any programs.
Some time when i try and get my system to work after sleep, it would have resuming window on screen for about 2seconds. Then my Monitor would turn off, then it would come back on after about 30sec -60sec and have a white flashing line (like if you were in command promt) then go to blank screen show mouse. When that happens it usually fine and doesn't freeze, but sometime it mucks up and stays on blank screen.

It mostly freezes when it comes out from sleep and it shows the deskto... Read more

For the past couple of months, the mousepad has been really glitchy. It is almost impossible to use now. The cursor keeps freezing and only hitting enter or the fn +f6 key helps is unfreeze temporarily (as in for a couple of minutes). Apart from that, any webpage or file I open, the screen automatically goes to the bottom of it. This is obviously connected to the mouse pad issue somehow. I tried reinstalling the drivers from the Lenovo website and it didn't help. I checked the hardware using the Synaptics Pointing Device Pressure Graph and Moodmap. Everything seems to be working well. This makes me believe it's a software issue. Please help me fix this.
