microsoft outlook - deleted address problem

Q: microsoft outlook - deleted address problem

I have just accidentally deleted one of my group addresses in my address book. I went to help and it said there was a deleted files icon (like the recycle bin that comes with XP) on the toolbar but when I looked there wasnt one. They said I could get the addresses back easily with this. Can anyone help me to solve this please?? I have looked everywhere I can think of to find the deleted files in outlook and cant and I dont want to go to the trouble of doing it all over again/may not remember some of the addresses that was in the group.
Also, is there any other way I can get it back? thanks guys

In Outlook, View> click on Folder List. This should open a panel on the left with
all the Folders. The Deleted Items folder should be in the list under Outlook Today- [Personal Folders].

Hi Everyone,

its my first time posting here, what an excellent resource. I wasn't able to find the solution to my problem by searching the forum threads...

I am running Windows Xp with Microsoft outlook express as the default email server. I accidentally deleted my outlook identity, as such all the emails are gone.

How can I retrieve these?

regards,
Sean

A:Deleted Microsoft Outlook Express Identity

You may be able to create a new identity and then import the email file from the message store for your old profile.

It should be located in one of these folders:

C:\Windows\Application Data\Outlook Express\{GUID}
or
C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

A:Address Book in Microsoft Outlook

Copy Outlook Express address book contacts to Outlook
Scroll down to the section: Exporting Outlook Express contacts
Click on the + beside the option you want.
Import Outlook Express contacts into the Outlook Contacts folder or
Export the Outlook Express contacts to a Personal Address Book
You probably want the first.

Hi there,

when trying to access the address book by clicking on the relative item, i am being given the following error.

The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions.

Please note that all the relevant addresses can be accessed by clicking on Contacts, but it would be more appropriate to click on the address book.
Can you help.

A friend came by to check my computer which is running very slow. He did some clean ups and suggested I add more memory. The computer is running better but he did something that affected Microsoft Outlook. I was unable to send/receive mail and lost my address book. I successfully reconfigured my e-mail account settings but the address book is gone. I searched for *.wab files but no files are found. I also searched *.pst files but can't open any of the four files found. How do I solve this problem?
Thank you.

What version of outlook is it, outlook or outlook express and what year ? If you have .pst files my guess is you use outlook and the addres book should be a .pab file (.wab is for outlook express). Here are the instructions for outlook 2003 : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829919

I recently changed an email address in Outlook. This address is included in a distribution list (MAPIPDL). However, when I sent out an email using this distribution list, it went back and used the old email address.

I went in and totally deleted the distribution list and the address of the recipient and then re-entered their address using wife's name first rather than husband's name first, thinking that might confuse it enough to use the corrected email. However, when I sent something out again using this distribution list, it went back and used the same old email address for this recipient.

There is no trace of that old email address left in the address book and I am dumbfounded as to how to get this corrected.

Thank you for your help.

What happens if you remove them from the "D" list and send an email out using it? As a last means delete them from your address book close Outlook then reopen it and add them back as a new contact. Open the distribution list and add their contact to the list and see what happens. Outlook picks the email address's from whatever is in the email area of the contacts details, so double check these details through the Contacts folder, rather than through the Distribution List.

Hi Tech Support

We lost all our e-mail files. Hubby got a message stating that our system had lost a file. (Outlook.PST he thinks) My hubby worked on Microsoft Outlook and was able to receive new e-mail, but we still can't access our old e-mail. We also lost our address book and cannot retrieve it back. Hubby tried to work through the problem by accessing "existing files or create a new file" command. He chose to create a new file, but then Microsoft Outlook gave him the message that the file already exists, but we can't access it.

Below is our hijack this file.

Hi,

I have what I hope is a temporary need to change my default "from" email address.

I have changed it from say aaa to bbb using tools/email/change/emailaddress and also rest the "more settings/reply email facility so replies go to my new email address too
I have set the bbb as my default email account [using tools/email/set as default]

Here is the problem;

when I create "new" emails it correctly uses the new "bbb" email address as my from address.

All seems to be OK.

BUT IF I receive a reply to this email that I sent [that was sent out with my bbb email address] and THEN I try to REPLY to it - the reply email now shows at the top "this email will be sent via aaa" - rather than the bbb I want it too!].

I hope I have explained it clearly - and you can see the frustration of the outloook programme.

It is as though outlook simply refuses to recognise the new default email account I have set up!

Frustrating to say the least - any technical help appreciated.

Cheers

Mike

By any chance do the bbb e-mail account settings in Outlook show your aaa address as a "Reply to" address? The entry can be found in "More settings ... -> General Tab" when the bbb account is open for editing.

I don't have any other suggestions other than that.

Hi

I have a clean installation of Windows 10.1 enterprise (English).
I try to use Microsoft Edge browser to search a query. All settings are just "default out of the box".

Most queries work ok but if I try a query with a dot then browser thinks I am entering an URL. For example I try searching "xamarin forms 2.0". This ends up with browser attempting to open an URL: "http://xamarin%20forms%202.0/"
which obviously fails.

In classic Internet Explorer 11 this problem does not reproduce, only in Edge.

Any idea how to fix that?

Best regards,
Eugene.

When adding an address when sending a mail sometimes returns a " ; " instead of the email address. Well. In 90% of the cases. And it doesn't seem to be random eithre. Some addresses always work. And the others just always becomes " ; " when adding them.

I've tried to compare the contacts but I cant spot any difference whatsoever in them =/.

I'm kind of clueless as what to do here. And I need to send out a mass mail to 300 people tomarrow so help would be really appriciated.

Thanks!

edit: I recently reinstalled outlook and exported/imported the addresses to a DB file. Now it's all of those old addresses that turn up as " ; ". While the new ones which I've added since then works. I can still see them all in the address book though. So it's really odd =/.

Just got a new computer with Vista and Office 2007. Didn't realize I was in for such a big change.

I availed myself of the offer to get a special cable and software to facilitate transferring everything from the XP to the Vista and it worked reasonably well.

The problem--I can't establish an Address Book. All my contacts are there, although the form didn't transfer quite right (that's a problem for another post), but I have no address book. The help I've been able to get says to right click on the Contacts folder, pick properties, go to the Outlook Address Book Tab and pick the folder as an Address Book. The problem is that all the options are grayed out--I can't select an address book. The textbox with the name of the address book says "Contacts," but I cannot select the checkbox that allows me to select it as an address book.

So, if someone could please tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd be very grateful.

I have a distribution list built in Outlook for sending emails to multiple parties. Today, I wanted to send an email to only select members of that list...not all included in there. I just tried to do this by selecting individual addresses by clicking with control, then I hit the email button at the top of the Outlook page. When I do so, it opens a new email but it plugs in the entire distribuiton list. Is there any way around that?

The only (still painful) way I know of, it to select the Contact group. In the TO: list, expand the Group and delete the individuals yoy do not want to receive. On the bright side, the remaining people can be copied and a new more limited Contact Group created if needed.

We use Outlook at work for email. In Outlook, we have created a distribution list that contains a large amoutn of email addresses. When I open a new mail message and type in the name of the file it comes up. If I select the + sign it shows and expands all the email addresses. My co-worker has the same exact setup but when he clicks the + sign, his Outlook says it can not perform the requested operation, the command selected is not valid for this recipient, the operation failed. I don't know why it works for me but not him...is it a setting?

One more bit of info to add, if he goes into his contacts folder, he is able to select "email" at the top and it puts the distribution list in there. When he clicks on the "+" symbol, it expands the list and shows him the addresses and lets him send the email.

Running Outlook XP 2002 on WinXP Professional.

Just loaded Office XP 2002 on a new computer (I don't like the "new and improved" upgrades). Normally, when I begin typing an address in a new email, Outlook picks it up from the Contacts folder or other stored addresses and completes it.

On the new computer, this isn't happening. So I went to Tools > Email accounts > Add a New Directory or Address Book > Additional Address Books. That window showed "Outlook Address Book" as one of the options (the other was "Personal Address Book").

But when I clicked on Outlook Address Book, I got this message:
"The account you have added is not fully configured. It might not work properly until re-configured correctly."

Can anyone tell me what "account" this refers to, or what kind of re-configuring I need to do to get this function to work? I've tried running the repair sequence from the CD, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the entire Office suite. No help.

Before, when I wanted to transfer my .pts file from one computer to another I would just copy the file to a portable hard drive and then transfer the file to the other computer. However, Outlook 2010 is completely different animal. When I go to C:, Users, App Data, etc., new computer, it is completely different from my other computer that had Vista. My question is, how can I transfer my .pts file and/or my address book, calendar, contacts, etc. for my older Windows Vista computer that had Outlook 2007, to my new computer that has Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 installed? Hello referee07;

Copy your .pst file from your old computer to the new one or your portable hard drive.

To launch the Outlook 2010 Export/Import wizard, first go to File menu, navigate to Open, and click Import.

In the Import And Export wizard, select Import from another program or file option and hit Next

Under File Type, select Outlook Data File(.pst) and hit Next

Now choose the file to import, select the options, and hit Next

Once done, finally select the folder to import from(if you want to import complete data don’t change any settings) and make sure Include subfolders is checked. You can either import the file to the current folder or choose the folder.

Hope this helps!

I am having a big problem which I can't seem to solve on my own and REALLY need some help! Somehow, while searching for a foreign language translation feature I must have turned on the speech recognition feature of Outlook. Now when I am trying to write an email, nothing will print when I go to type in my message text. I can type in the "subject" area OK, but when I go to type within the message part of my email, nothing happens. Through clicking around I found that if I click on the "A" icon just above the message window in the toolbar, then the typing feature is active and I am able to type in my message, but otherwise it will not work. I have looked in HELP in both Outlook and Microsoft Office Word to find out how I can get my email program back to the default settings - just plain old "type in your message" stuff - but I just can't seem to find the answer. Microsoft is no help because the program was installed by the people who custom build my computer and they referred me back to them. The computer guys can't figure it out either because it is a software "issue".... I must add that Outlook worked great until I started clicking around to find out about the language translation feature. So, if anyone can send me instructions on how the hell to turn off this voice recognition feature (and I am assuming this is the issue here) so I can get back to my regular email business, please do so ASAP. I am throwing the challenge ... Read more

Not really possible. Can you set your mail up on another machine to see if that behaves the same? If Outlook is being buggy, try a different and better e-mail handler, such as Thunderbird - Mozilla Firefox browser's sister programme. Download it from http://www.mozilla.com - you don't need to set it as Default until you're sure you like it but you can import settings and files from Outlook without losing their use in Outlook.

Dears,

I have Laptop with WXP installed. I am using Microsoft Outlook for mailing. Some time it happens that I receive a CC of mail send by someone but when I open the mail; I don’t see my address in CC list while I receive the mail. Normally when I receive a CC of mail, I found my name in CC list.

Then most likely your address was on the BCC line (Blind CC). No recipients can see addresses on that line.

The message probably came from the mail server. Some ISPs limit the number of recipients for a single message (like maybe 20). If you are using a corporate server, you should talk to the administrator.

Hi all

I work for a company that sends out three newsletters a day. I have been having serious problems after people receive our newsletters, sometimes a link will get corrupt and its always the same way...

it adds an "!%" into the link address.

Its not always in the same spot but always in a link.

I've tried three different mailing softwares. It happens to all of them so I think i can rule that out.

It seems AOL subscribers get the links just fine but outlook users get this problem quite often.

Anyone ever hear or know about this?

Thanks for any help in this matter...

Never had problems till a few months ago.
Problem is.... when I open my email, it tells me I got new mail (anywhere from 1-3 at a time), yet they are not showing up. Sometimes they do but usually they do not. Seems to be getting worse with time. Rare for anything to actually show up anymore. I do not seem to have a problem getting tons of junk mail but nothing much else.
I have even send myself emails for tests and some times they show up & other times they do not, even though it says new email messages.
Anyone got a clue as to where my emails are going and what I can do to correct this problem?

Microsoft Outlook Taskbar shows an application button for each application open on the desktop. However, just recently the application button only flashes on and off (blue and gray). The right button (menu button) does not bring up any menus over the application button. The right button will bring up menus elsewhere. The left button only maximises the application after clicking over the button three or mor times. Sometimes it won't do anything but cause the button to continue to flash. After a few seconds the button stops flashing and just turns a solid blue.

Hi There,

This is a problem that is really starting to annoy me as i really dont think it should be that hard to sort!

The problem is the computer prints fine from everything but when i try to print an e-mail from Outlook 2003 nothing happens. This has never happend before and has only started happening today. (Well this is when it was reported to me)

I have tried a detect and repair of Outlook.
I have uninstalled Office and re-installed it.
Have done a system restore and that didnt fix it either.
Also tried something i seen on another site (go to run and type regsvr32 ole32.dll) it comes up saying it was successful but then it does not let me print from outlook as usual.

Now discovered the problem started after a bad install of IE7 would this have anything to do with it?

Does anyone know of any fixes for this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to uninstall and reinstall microsoft outlook 2000. I want to be able to start up outlook with no user information in it...no contacts, no calendar entries, no mail accounts etc.
I am able to uninstall (and reboot) and have run Eraser2000 (from the ms website) to clean the registry....but everytime I reinstall from my disks and restart outlook, all the user data is still there.

I am trying to figure out how to reset the software back to the first time it was loaded and start from scratch. I can't find the files MS stores the user data in to delete. I have tried to delete a bunch of other stuff MS recommends in a tech note, but all those folders say they are locked by another user when I try to delete.

The real reason I am doing this is I use the sharing (Net Folders) feature of outlook 2000 to run one calendar on 2 PCs. I have had this working for 2 years, but outlook recently started crashing on the master PC. I am trying to get the sharing working again but have not been able to. So, I figure the best way to get it working again is to reinstall and start from scratch, but I am not able to start from scratch.

I can reinstall with the old data coming up, start up file sharing like it is supposed to do, but it never starts sending the email messages to synch up the 2 calendars.

So, any thoughts on how to find the outlook data files and remove them or how to get my calendar sharing working again would be appreciated.

Have you tried adding the backup PST files as secondary data files. Once you do this you can view them and move the emails over to the new PST file.

To add the backup PSTs, go to the Tools menu and choose 'Options'. When the setup screen opens, go to the 'Mail Setup' tab and then click on 'Data Files'. Depending on your version, there should be an 'Add' button either on the right side of the setup screen or on the top. Click 'Add' and navigate to where you have stored your backup PSTs. Choose the PST with your previous email. After you have added the data file (PST), close the setup menus and check your folder list. You should see a new "Personal Folders" added to the bottom of the folder view list. Expand it and you should see your old emails. You can then highlight and drag them to your new Inbox.

Hope this helps you retrieve your email.

This problem concerns my father's laptop which runs on Windows XP Home SP3 and has Microsoft Outlook 2007 installed on it. I think my father updated from Outlook 2003 to 2007, and from the very start (since he has been using 2007), he has been getting the following message on opening the program:
"There was a problem reading one or more of your reminders. Some of the reminders may not appear."
My father tried deleting all the reminders, then he tried using a program feature called clean switch or something, and nothing has worked.
Does anyone know what's going on and what can be done to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for your time and answer(s).

Folks

I have a small problem with MS Outlook 2000
Every time I close the application , I get the following error.

Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Error signature
AppName: outlook.exe
AppVer: 90.0.0.6604
ModName spamnet.dll
ModVer 5.3.5049.0
Offset: 0003de9

OS is Windows xp Media

It is not a big issue as all I do is to click "do Not send Report"
But if there was a fix for this it would be very nice.

Some things I have tried
From Run outlook.exe /safe - Same error on closing outlook.

Thanks

I recently encountered the XP Security 2012 malware problem. I eventually got around it and removed it using Malware Bytes. I now am having an issue with something deleting out my IP Address, gateway, and subnet. I use a wireless connection and unfortunately the tech that installed it was not able to secure my signal (I wasn't home when it was installed. The Mrs. was.) Any ideas on who or what may be deleting my network information?

A:IP Address Deleted

not sure if you still have a virus/trojan issue ,as for the router why not reset you wireless router ,usually a small push button the back somewhere, you will then be able to set it up securely ,what the make of the wireless router

When I'm using Microsoft Outlook 2003 and try to add an attachment to my e-mail everything locks up. It happens when I click the attach button & get the "insert file" box. When I click the "Look In" drop down menu that's where it locks up. Anyone know what would cause this? It has worked fine up until last night. (I'm runny Microsoft-XP Home Edition)

THANKS

UPDATE: I just tried changing a jpeg on a Microsoft Publisher 2003 file and it locked up too. Any help would be appreciated.
