Whe printing multiple copies from Word 2003, (SP-3) Service Pack 3, all pages come out of the printer blank. This happens on my Canon Imageclass MF5550 printer but not on my HP 8100 inkjet. Printing from email, wordpad and notepad work. I reinstalled Word and the Canon printer driver to no avail. I called Canon tech support and they had me print from Wordpad and since it worked they said it's not their problem.

is there any way i can actually edit the source code in mozilla firefox without having to save the .txt file to my computer?

i tried editing it....typing is disabled for me.

Here's an example:

if it's my website...
in IE i can View the source code and then edit what I want. I then save it, and refresh in my browser. Then all the changes I made in the source code appear on my website. Can you do this in Mozilla Firefox.

P.S.
if you can't do this with firefox, then does anyone know a feedback site for Mozilla firefox?

A:View-->Source Code, Can you edit source code in firefox?

No, "View source" means "View source" not Edit source. Looks like you're gonna have to either save to txt/html or use IE to edit. Sorry.

Don't print much multi page output, so am NOT sure when this problem began.

Originally, the pages on my HP DJ855C were printed as expected: page-1 first, then page-2, etc; this resulted with page-1 being on the bottom of the stack. Depending on the application being used, there was often a Print-Order option available for Back-to-Front printing so that the last page would be printed first and then page-1 would be printed last and be on the top in the stacker.

NOW, things seem to have reversed:
If I do NOT ask for the Back-to-Front, then I seem to get it anyway (i.e., page-1 last and on the top). but if I want the original order (i.e., page-1 first and on the bottom) then I must use the Back-to-Front option.
It seems as though the default has become Back-to-Front and then selecting the option for Back-to-Front re-reverses the order and the result is Front-to-Back.

Possibly this reversal happened when I went to Win/XP; possibly it happened with the installation of some piece of software.

Q. Has anyone else had this exxperience?

Please tell me where I might change some parameter to make the option of Front-to-Back actually print the page-1 first like it did originally?

Any advice apprecaited.

Thanks,,

A:Order of Pages Printed

Digger,

Go into your printers and faxes options off of your start menu.

Select your printer, right click the mouse and click on printing preferences.
On the features tab at the bottom there is a option for start printing from last page. If there is a check mark in the box next to it, click there with the mouse and uncheck it and then click on apply and ok and you should be all set after that?

The problem I am having is that when I go to print tax return forms from the IRS site or New York Tax Dept site, the form prints "short", that is, the last four or five lines of each page do not print.

You cannot save the data in these forms, they will only save as a blank form. Your only option is to print it.

However, although Adobe tells how to cure this problem ( by clicking File-Print and going down the menu which comes up to "printer scaling", then chosing "print to fit page", this only works if there is a
FILE menu on the left hand side of the page.

In these tax sites, the forms do not have a tool bar above allowing you to chose a FILE menu.
You can right click the mouse and chose PRINT, however it will print a cut off page.

SOOOOOOO ..how do I either:
1. Get a standard Tool Bar to appear on top of the form, on these web site pages, or
2. use some other device or method to print these documents to fit the page.

If any of you are about to suggest right clicking on the printer icon PRINTERS, in the control panel, forget it....my printer does not bring up anything about "Print Scaling".

Hopefully, some geek out there will read this and solve my problem. Thank you. 44 Guy

A:printed pages cut off at bottom

Every computerized tax form that I have seen...is available at the website of the sponsoring governmental agency...and reflects a printed version option which has resulted in everything being printed properly.

I'm not sure where Adobe figures into tax preparation.

If you are using a 3d-party app to do taxes...then the problem resides with the support for that application, IMO.

A:HP BusinessJet 2200 First Few Pages Printed Not Clear

I'm guessing that the ink jet ports are drying up over night and it takes a couple of pages being printed before the ink is flowing correctly. I think using fast (draft) mode send less ink to the heads or less ink is available because you are printing faster.

When I print I am getting a blank page between each printed page. Even if my document is one page it prints a blank page after it. I can also print a selected page, as in "print page 2" but it still prints a blank after it. The blank page does not show up on the preview.

I have a HP Deskjet D1300 and am running Vista Home using Word 2007. Is it a printer problem or a Word 2007 problem? Any suggestions?

Hello everyone

I recently installed Outlook 2010 and I have got the following strange problem and I was wondering
whether anyone else had the same problem and found a solution.

Whenever I print an Outlook email, the pages come out in reverse order (page 2 then page 1) with a blank cover page which sometimes has "Microsoft Outlook - memo style OUTLOOK.EXE" printed
on the middle of it, and a blank sheet between each page of the message.

It only happens with Outlook. Printing is normal with Word, Excel, etc.

Any suggestions, please?

A:Outlook 2010 emails being printed with blank pages between each page

In Outlook please go to File - Print, highlight Memo Style, then click Print Options button above. In a new window Print, hightlight Memo Style again. Click Define Styles... In a new window, make sure that Memo Style is hightlighted and click RESET button.

If this wont help, click Edit button in the same window, and make sure all the parameters make sense and are correct (page size, etc.)

Hi
We have a need to find out quickly who is printing and how mucha are they printing to a particular printer. We enabled logging of all spool activity to the event-viewer which records all the printing which takes place through the Printer and gives quite a concise description of what was printed. Is there a way that we could transport this information to some sort of a file where we could get a clear indication as to who has printed and how much as well.

I have an Access database used on daily basis to enter and print the maintenance work order in a report format. I have assigned a command button to print the required record. On clicking the button in the Form, a parameter query will run asking the user to put the record number to proceed. Once the correct record number is entered in the parameter text box, the report is previewed and the user click on the print button to print the same.

My question is as follows:

Is there any method to find out the record i am going to print now was already printed before? A kind of record keeping for the printed records.

Also, a message box should warn the user saying incase if the record was already printed, “The record was previously printed, do you want to continue printing again?”

Please tell me a way to perform the above in my Form.

I am starting a coding project in OpenGL, and I was possibly thinking of using portions of source code to help reduce the amount of work and time it takes to complete the application.

Not even on my own web pages which are not disabled.

In the past it would show the source OR if the web page was disabled – pop up saying disabled.
The function seems to be gone. I did a restore to an earlier time when it worked but that did not help.

Would anyone feel like giving advice on how to bring back the view source function on web pages that are NOT disabled?

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>General tab, click on the Delete Files button to clear the cache (when asked, check the box to delete all offline content, too). That fixes the problem most of the time.

If that doesn't work, see this page for other options.

First off...I am a total technophobe. I stumble through my computing experiences and don't speak the language very well. I have two websites that I developed using plain html. For years I have been able to update them as needed by editing the source code which was on notepad. A few days ago I went to update and there was no more notepad source code, but something new and different that can't be edited. It's in blue and red and breed and black. I know I only did my work in black and certainly not as neat as this is now. I am at a loss as to what to do. I don't know if this is an IE problem or a Windows 98 problem or whatever so I don't know who to talk to about it. I can't swear to it, but I think I may have recently updated to IE8 ( I just sort of do updates when someone or my computer tells me to do so). I really need to get this problem solved soon. Any help will be most greatly appreicated!

A:Can't edit source code

Hey, this isn't much of an IE problem. Just that your .html extension in windows has been re-assigned a default program. To fix this(The basic way):

- Right click the file you wish to edit
- Click Open With...
- Click "More Programs..." (or whatever it says along the lines of that)
- Choose notepad in the box that pops up, and tick "Use this program as default"
- Click OK.

Alternatively download and install Notepad++ and open the HTML files in that.

Cheers,
Jamey

hello. i just have a quick question. nothing too big so dont worry. i'm not even sure i have the "jargon" correct in my topic title.

you see, one time i remember my friend told me that some things in windows. like folders, use html. KINDA.

cause you know you can customise your folders right? in windows? mainly 98 cause right now i can't seem to find that option in xp.

it says something like "customise like webpage" or SOMETHIGN like that. lol.

anyway. i would be able to right click, after setting a background for my folder, and my friend says its html but i remember it looked pretty complicated and diffrent.

anyway. so far that's all i know. what i'm trying to get at, (if i havent confused you already) is, i'd like to customise a few things about a certain folder i created.

the folder was created because i created a new TOOLBAR in my windows desktop. and there are TWO things which i'd like to do that i cant.

one of them is LOCK the toolbar.

its really easy to do that in my bottom toolbars but it doenst work for the new one i made which i placed APART from my bottom "start menu" toolbar and named "taskpane". i placed it on top, set it to auto hide, made the icons large, took away title bar title, and left the icon text. looks really nifty and i put ALL my shortcuts there so they wont clutter up my neat wallpapers.

so tha'ts done and done. but what i cant do as i've mentioned is LOCK IT. t... Read more

Don't know if this is the right forum topic or not, I am just trying to see how people work out the value on their source codes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
We have an ex-client, who after they left us went to one of our competitors. After two years they are unhappy with them. They rang us the other day and asked if they could purchase the source codes for our software products. They want their in house IT team to take what we have created and develop it for their use only.

The products they want the source code for are our core products that we still sell, still develop on. It is a set of products that have had almost 20 years spent on developing them. We are on the 8th version of the original software, about to go into the ninth next year.

They have given us a number that they are willingly to pay, it is around about the price my husband thinks is appropriate, i think we are under valuating it. To purchase the products they want without source code would be between 100 to 150k, they want it for around the 200k mark, my husband thinks 250 to 280k. So how do I go about figuring out what 20 years with a team of 4 programs took to build (we still sell on a regular basis yearly) to make sure we get a fair price?

A:Placing a value on source code.

Welcome to TSG yank!
My random thoughts...
I would not sell the source code to a product that is selling on a regular basis. It has a future resale value. They can pony-up and buy the product and pay for customization.

You never know if some rogue programmer there will decide to strike out on his own and start selling the product for 10K and damage your business. Yes you could go to court and win but I wouldn't risk the exposure. I guess, in the contract, there could be a 'damage' clause if you can prove they let the software out? Or if they themselves try to sell some version.

If your determined to sell.
You could look at it like your selling the business, standard formual is Revenue X 3 + Assets. That would put the price at 300K minimum(selling it for 100K without source code).

You can also make a case for value-addeds, such as design notes, coding doucmentation, schemas, etc... these are probably worth as much if not more than the source code itself. How well are you prepared to sell the code?

I would give up on putting a value on 20 years of development. You have allready paid for that and have profits to offset that cost. A more relavant question is how much would it cost for the company to develop it. They apparently think its more than 200K

Since changing my internet supplier, I've had problems with printing anything out from the net.
Everything that prints out when printing directly from a web page, prints out as source code, and the page does not print.
However, if I save the text to Word, or the pictures to Paint, I can print out OK

This is driving me mad, as I've already spent hours of my time and money in speaking to the ISP people at Tiscali, but nobody can help. The following suggests that Windows XP home might be to blame.

I've tried different computers, different printers, both inkjet and laser, but all appear to do the same - EXCEPT - one old machine that runs Windows 98. This printed the pages OK, even though it was connected to a printer which had been printing out only code previously. So....I assume that it is something to do with my XP settings, but I've no idea which.

I use Outlook Express 6 as my email client. I receive many emails containing graphics and formatted text that I would like to tweak a little, before forwarding them. I KNOW that I can edit text and delete some elements but I also know that things like the length are very hard to change. I also know that the format controls are locked into the CODE that is exposed when the SOURCE tab is clicked. Short of doing a course in HTML, I believe I can learn some basics about email source code, by tweaking it and seeing the results. But to document what has been tweaked, I should ideally be able to copy the source code UNCHANGED-by-the-copy-process into e.g. WORD or a Rich-Text-Format editor. I have not found any editor that I can paste source code into and have the copy look identical to the original. I thought FrontPage might do the trick, but it wont open EML. Hi;

I get the message below when I try to open the program in Access 2000 on the user's machine.

Source Code Control

You don't have a source code control program (such as Microsoft Visual SourceSafe) installed on your machine.The source code control commands are therefore not available.

Do you want to see this warning again?

Even I click "No" , i get this same message.

How could I solve the error message? Please help...
Regards;
unsal99

A:Source Code Control Error

Hey there, welcome to TSG.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think that error is actually generated by Access. Usually source control clients are stand-alone applications that you can install on your computer and configure to interface with your development environments. That might sound like a lot of jargon, but the gist is this: Access is probably trying to interact with a program that has been removed or only partially installed/uninstalled. I'm pretty sure Access doesn't have native source control.

With a partial install or uninstall, oftentimes there are leftover registry hooks that cause annoyances like this. Clicking "No" probably has no effect because the application that is supposed to handle the user response doesn't exist; however, you continue to see the message box because the registry hook does still exist.

Mind, this is purely speculation on my part. I'd like to see some other opinions on the matter.

chris.

(For example, something out there that we can make the code reliant on so without the something else, she can't operate the code) Or a way we can prevent any modification or transfer of code without our authority Please assist us! Any advice or suggestion is helpful and will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi all:

I wanted to install dial-up People PC on my son's HP - he's running XP-

He had Netzero- and was having connection problems, although it worked 85% of the time.

I deleted all Netzero program components first, then tried to install dial-up PEOPLE PC with their free disc.

It starts to install ,gets about 32% then a message says
ERROR 1706 - cannot find source code for BartShel or cannot find source code for "hpapp-----" something or other.

Each time it says to try to find the app in another location and try to open from there- but the same error code comes up.

Can you help me? Should I NOT have deleted Netzero first?

Thanks in advance.

A:Error 1706 source code

http://www.topbits.com/error-1706.html

I would go to people pcs website and see if they have a downloadable version which could be burned to cd or saved to a flash drive. Then try to install it.

I don't think it had to do with deleting Netzero unless a shared dll file was deleted. Usually the system warns you before allowing you to delete dll files.

I was working on my 72 Nova today and the lady next door calls me over. She says ever since she moved from AOL to Bellsouth DSL she has had this problem. She is on Windows XP Home Service Pack2 and Internet Explorer 7. When she attempts to print a web page it will only print the web page source code.

I can't seem to figure out what is going on. I looked at the IE config but can't find anything that would print out the source code versus the web page image. I also looked at print preview and it also showed the source code.

Have any of you ever seen this? Thanks for any input here!

The source code that powers the ?Internet of Things? (IoT) botnet responsible for launching the historically large distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack against KrebsOnSecurity last month has been publicly released, virtually guaranteeing that the Internet will soon be flooded with attacks from many new botnets powered by insecure routers, IP cameras, digital video recorders and other easily hackable devices.

The leak of the source code was announced Friday on the English-language hacking community Hackforums. The malware, dubbed ?Mirai,? spreads to vulnerable devices by continuously scanning the Internet for IoT systems protected by factory default or hard-coded usernames and passwords.

Vulnerable devices are then seeded with malicious software that turns them into ?bots,? forcing them to report to a central control server that can be used as a staging ground for launching powerful DDoS attacks designed to knock Web sites offline.

The Hackforums user who released the code, using the nickname ?Anna-senpai,? told forum members the source code was being released in response to increased scrutiny from the security industry.

?When I first go in DDoS industry, I wasn?t planning on staying in it long,? Anna-senpai wrote. ?I made my money, there?s lots of eyes looking at IOT now, so it?s time to GTFO [link added]. So today, I have an amazing release for you. With Mirai, I usually pull max 380k bots from telnet alone. However, after the Kreb [sic... Read more

Hi,

I'm working on some source code, and my a** will be grass if a hacker or someone obtains it. The PC could be offline, but often I need to find coding solutions online, so I would need to copy & paste such code text to the secure offline PC. I'm stumped how to achieve that in a hack proof manner except with a thumb drive. That is, use the online PC to find the code, copy text to thumb drive, move drive offline PC, but that sounds like a big pain.

Another option is to use software that runs two simultaneous OS's that allows text to be copied between them, but how hack proof is that? Maybe encrypting the secure PC drive?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Paul

Edit: Ah ha, is this the solution, a unidirectional network via some hardware? I think the data line needs to be controlled by hardware to be as secure as possible.

If anyone could post or send me a PM recommending any hardware, then I'll greatly appreciate.

Regards,
Paul

A:How to secure source code while keeping Internet

hmm; taking the issues from the top:

1) you need to ensure that code on your PC never leaves its.

2) if it does, you are exposed ( I assume from your employer )

3) you want to copy paste code from the Internet into 'your code' safely
I'll start with (3). Code from the Internet may expose you to copyright infringement and thus your employer could be sued - -
I've seen this happen personally and it is ugly.
You lose your job, your friends lose jobs, and the employer can actually go bankrupt.
summary: not worth the risk

(2) Working at home on software that belongs to your employer is a real nightmare,
not only from (3) but you might become a mule for some trojan infection when that code is returned to the project libraries.
If that occurs, the date/time of your checkin of the new code will correspond to the time of the virus and tag, you're it.

(1) the only way to ensure that something never leaves the PC {better said is not useful if it leaves},
is to
a) go offlineb) encrypt it for protection, perhaps even altering the file namec) go online and browse, fetch what you will
d) go back offlinee) decrypt the code in question
f) modify said code and prepare it for transport back to the project libraries.summary: only access that code while offline

REPEAT: not worth the risk

IE8 presents source code NOT html rendition, etc.?

I have a webpage (html) in a folder on my PC that I use as a "startup" page for all my browsers (Firefox, Palemoon, Chrome, IE8). I have been using this method for over 10 yr for quick access to my most important Web & other links. I bring up any browser, my important links are ready-go-go, FAST.
PROBLEMS:
1) When I use this webpage as my "startup" page for IE8 & it renders only as 'source code' NOT the actual HTML page as it does in my other browsers.

2) Also,something odd happens to Word Doc links on this HTML "startup" page that are in folders on my PC's HD, the Word Doc file is NOT opened, but downloaded to my 'downloads' drive. I sense this is caused by new browser security updates that will not allow files on the PC's HD to be opened in a browser. This is only a guess.

Does anyone have a fix/answer to either problems indicated above?

Cheers,

So this is the first virus I've seen that targets developers!My NOD32 a few days' ago started showing that my source code folders were infected with Fujacks, and were embedding IFRAME source in my C# .aspx files. NOD32 wanted to completely delete my source code, so rather, I just removed the IFRAME references the virus put in the text (remembering that .aspx files are simple text files, nothing more.)Next day, same routine. This time I allowed NOD32 to kill the offending files.Next day, it returned, and so it continues ad nauseum. I've tried to search through the registry and system32 folders to find the virus, but I'm buggered if I can find it anywhere!Coming to the brightest minds on the internet for this sort of thing, I humbly submit my attach.txt file for the Brainiacs out there to tell me what part of my computer is giving me so much grief.Yours in code, NonSapiens

IRC server had backdoor in source code for months.

The developers of the open source IRC server UnrealIRCd have had to report that the file servers of the project were compromised several months ago and the IRC servers code, Unreal3.2.8.1.tar.gz was replaced by a version with a backdoor. The backdoor allows anyone to execute commands on the server running UnrealIRCd, with the privileges of the user running the IRC daemon, even if the IRC server is a hub or requires passwords to access it normally. According to the report, the version with the backdoor was apparently placed on file servers in November 2009, but remained unnoticed until now.

I am trying to understand the behavior of a small utility that I wrote using the Visual C++ compiler (circa 2000 version). The program is intended to be executed from a command line or from a batch file. It takes one argument, that can be passed on the command line, or if absent, the program prompts for the file name. Normally the file argument is specified as a full file path, which can get rather long.

The problem is that the program executes correctly or fails, depending on the length of the file path\name that it receives. The relevant code is below:
Code:

// Get input event file name and open the file.

if (argc == 2) // if there is exactly one command line argument
{
cout << "Editing " << argv[1] << "\n";
strcpy(infile_name, argv[1]); // take it as the filename to be edited
}
else // prompt the user for the file name
{
cout << "\n\nEnter the name of the file to be edited - "; // get file from operator entry
cin.getline(infile_name, 255); // will be renamed with .BAK extension
}

strcpy(outfile_name, infile_name); // new file inherits the original file name

if ((infile = fopen(infile_name, "rb")) == NULL)
{
wait("\n\nERROR - Unable to open the specified file\nEnter any key to exit...");

A:Solved: Program sometimes fails to follow the source code (?)

If anyone out there cares, I managed to resolve this problem by changing one line in the program, that assigns argv[1] to infile_name.

strcpy(infile_name, argv[1]);

was changed to

infile_name = argv[1];

With that change, the program doesn't occur. But I have NO IDEA why.

I want to ask about porting / converting ancient (20 years old!) dBase / Clipper source code and files to Modern Windows XP environment.

Should I use Codebase and re-compile the program for Microsoft C?

http://www.codebase.com/products/

Is there any other better / simpler ways to port text only applications?

Thank you.

A:Porting dBase/Clipper Source Code And Files

Are you asking if there's any way of automatically converting the source code or you asking whether you you should rewrite the application. Codebase will not convert an XBase DOS program to a windows program. From what I understand Codebase is a library that allows you to manipulate XBase databases (DBase, Clipper, Paradox etc) with a windows language such as Visual Basic.

I need a routine callable from either C or Visual Basic that can turn on and off 1 note at a time using MIDI code sent through a USB port. This is going to be used for a tuning program that helps tune a small Pipe Organ. I am using Visual Basic which could call a C routine to do this. I am using a laptop with windows 7 see details below. I have several caned programs that will play music from MIDI files through the USB interface and run the Pipe Organ. I could either modify one of those programs if I had the source code in C or Visual Basic or write my own routine. I do have a MIDI handbook and can figure out the code, in time. I have not found routines for sending information to the USB port. I am not good at navigating the Microsoft website to find this kind of information (I've tried!). I'm not as good as I used to be at digging through huge volumes of information to find what should be fairly simple routines.

Hello all, I will try to explain my problem as clear as I can. I am not super tech savvy, so I need your help.

I found a thread that seemed to have the same problem but it did not fix mine.

Before I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10, everything worked fine. Now it has been around 2 weeks since the upgrade and I am running into a problem. My user on the PC seems to be working fine, but when the other person trys to log into her account on the PC things go weird.

First it was signing her in with a temporary account, this was solved by logging her in later.

Now it just takes a much longer time to load things when we start up our accounts. Sometimes the PC was freezing and we were not able to do anything, unless we restart the PC.

Today I ran sfc /scannow. "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

Then I ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth, "The component store is repairable, The operation completed sucsesfully"

Then I ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, "Error: 0x800f081f The source files could not be found."

Now I dont know what to do, the other thread advised doing some other Dism but stating a source file. But I dont know how to do that, or anything with ISO files and all of that.

If someone could advise me what to do, or try to help, I would appreciate it.

Perhaps this will help to explain what I am trying to do using a macro button on a main form to filter data in my subform.
VBA Macro process for first button:
In my subform I have a [DueDate] field.

I need to be able to filter between a date range within the [CompletionDate] field in my subform.

The user should click on the button on my main form.

A pop-up window will appear requesting the user to enter the begining [CompletionDate] value desired and the last [CompletionDate] value desired.

The results will filter all records between these two dates in the subform.
VBA Macro process for second button:
In my subform I have a [DueDate] field and want to find processes that are late.
I need to filter records where the [DueDate] < Date() AND [CompletionDate] = NULL

AND

I also need to filter records where the [CompletionDate] > [DueDate] in the same VBA macro function.

Note: If your suggested VBA code changes my SouceObject/Master/Child fields, then I also need code to change them back to their original settings for other macro buttons to function.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!
