No internet connection after visiting certain websites???

Q: No internet connection after visiting certain websites???

I have a:
Gateway laptop Gateway Laptop
MX6433
AMD Turion 64 mobile
Technology ML-30
1.59 GHz, 448 MB of RAM
Windows XP Media Center edition (service pack 3).

I bought it two years or so ago. Since as long as I can remember I have had this problem.

when I am on my browser (I use chrome, firefox, and IE) my wireless connection will cut out after a while. I have noticed that if I am on just one site (example: Pandora.com) it can be fine for hours. But once I start going to different sites, I eventually get kicked off. It can be any website, Facebook, youtube, etc.

When I lose connectivity, I refresh my wireless connections and only the printer comes up. If I try to right click on the tray icon to repair internet connection, it freezes. I am guessing that this is a hardware problem. (?) Though I'm not extremely technical with computers, I know my way around most issues that can arise.

I have reformatted my hard drive (twice) and all my software is up to date. I have run AVG scan and Ad Aware scan hundreds of times. Can anyone offer assistance? Thank you very much!

Hello all,
I am having a problem with all of the browsers on my computer directing to a spam search site when I try to visit certain websites.

I believe the problem started when I installed this software to help me switch audio output very easily:
http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/65079-anyway-use-hotkeys-switch-sound-output.html

I've done the following:
1) Run updated Malware bytes Anti Malware
2) Run TDSS Rootkit Remover Tool by Kaspersky.
3) Run Virus Remover Tool by Kaspersky.
4) Reset my cookies in Chrome.
5) Read the "Before posting a log" on this forum (the sticky post).
6) Updated my notification options as recommended.
I could not run GMER as I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

I've attached my DDS/Attach/Hijack logs.

I am rephrasing the question to be more specific. I cannot see how my first request was inappropriate. I have not needed to set up a network in years, so I hope someone has the answer to my question.

I am paying for my home internet, and I do not want anyone visiting pron websites. Is their any tool that can alert me if one of my friends is accessing inappropriate material on the website. Someone closed my question before, so I guess knowing how to share their internet histories is NOT the proper answer.

I will not stand for people looking at bad websites, so I hope someone can point me to a decent solution.

We recently added a filter to our computer because of our children. Each week we get a report on sites that we attempted to be opened, but are blocked. There are several, but one in particular is on there all the time and has a high percentage. I am wondering if anyone recognizes it and if it is possible that somehow there is something on our computer that is automatically leading us there. We have not gone to it ever as far as I know.

It is: eserviceds1x.us.dell.com

We have both AdAware SE and Spybots and run them regularly.

Hi MNgirl,

1° Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm .

2° Create a permanent folder like C:\Program Files\LSP and extract the download zip file into that folder.

3° Log your computer in safe mode (hit F8 many times during booting procedure);

4° Disable your System Restore : have a look to Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore ;

5° Close all open windows - it is very important;

6° Run LSPFix : click only the Fix button;

7° Reboot normally and post a new HijackThis log.

Hey guys,

I have a friend who has an adult filtering program on his computer. I get a daily email with all of the sites his computer goes to. I know that they are not visiting these sites personally, so, there has to be some malware/adware that is causing it. I also learned today that there are a number of popups, probably related to these sites.

The websites are:

msn.com yahoo.com, foxsports.com, youtube.com, yimg.com, microsoft.com, facebook.com, gamevance.com, conduitservices.com
Also - it has been running slower as of late.

Thanks for the help.

OS = Windows 10, effects all browsers used (slimbrowser, slimjet, IE11, Firefox w/noscript running, Chrome, Opera, these are the only ones i tried)

When browsing to a website (typically seems to be stream2watch) but others randomly trigger a message that informs me to call my ISP to remove malware, and a fake blue screen error withing a browser windows behind that. This can only be terminated by ending the task within task manager. ALT+F4 does nothing, just sends it repeating.

I have Secure A Plus running along with Superantispyware, both have run a full scan and to no avail minus piddly tracking cookies in SAS. ADW cleaner also has been run after the fact. No repeat customer seem to appear.

I have a screen capture if you would like to see it, and hope to get this resolved, it gets very irritating. Thank you

Upon visiting websites, a pop up comes up (screenshot available upon request) informing me to contact my ISP (which is the correct one) and a phone number to call. Some annoying voice also speaks this and can only be terminated via the task manager. In the bottom left hand corner where it usually says the website im connectiong to all it says is numbers. The green bar starts to fill up and when complete theres nothing. I can sort the problem by doing a system restore but the next time I turn the computer on its the same again and this just started 2 days ago. Went to bed and it was ok and in the morning nothing. Also ive noticed sometimes its not connecting to the internet automatically like it used to, whether this is to do with other problem I dont know. I have Vista Ultimate.

Hi, I have been having an ongoing problem over the last week in terms of my internet connection. In particular the wireless router continously disconnects at about 30 minute intervals (but is fixed simply by pressing the "ZyXEL" icon on the desktop).
Also, particular websites (myspace, facebook etc... social networking ones yano) they stay put in the loading page not even accessing the homepage. This is really quite annoying as I'm relying on myspace message to recieve some details on my university application that I sent to a contact I have no other means of communication with.
I'm clueless as of what to do, most websites work perfectly and I've tried both on IE and Firefox with no success.
In terms of my computer experience I'm sort of at a loss as I know the bare essentials to get me through, I do have a Kapersky 2008 protection suite running and have been told that it could be restricting some sites but when checking I found no evidence of this.
Any help would be much appreciated and if possible a walkthrough of steps to the advice, thanks. Jay2Oh

Hi.
I'm running WinXPSP3 With Internet Explorer 8

So i'll state the reason why I'm asking so as to make this more clear, and then I'll state the problem.

I had an account on a page (I can locate the HTML document in my IE history and I believe I located it in my temporary internet files). It had text written on that page. My account was deleted by the administrator by accident, but all my text is lost. I need that text on the page back.

So I am wondering if there is a way to view websites completely through your internet history or temp internet files. I've located the particular page in my internet history and confirmed the date of it is before my account was deleted, so if the history in fact saves the websites as is, it should be saved to my hard drive. But when I open it it only redirects me to the new updated page. I suspect that the history in Internet Explorer is only a record of URL's and not actually saved websites (html documents). But I thought the temporary internet files might have it. However when I opened what I believe is the page from in there, again, it only opens to the new page. If I disconnect my internet and try opening these I only get a blank page because I'm not connected.

So again, does history/temp internet files actually STORE the website and text from a webpage to your computer where you can get it back, or will it only redirect you to the page as it currently is by way of acting as a link? I know that pictures and other stuff get sav... Read more

Hi guys,

Apologies in advance, complicated situation here as I am on a german laptop in the UK...
I just got a new internet provider and tried to set up our wireless connection on 2 laptops. Works fine on one of them, only works via ethernet on the other one. When not connected via an ethernet, it says that the connection is established but I still cannot browse.

After doing research for some hours, we decided to use static IPs, which solved the initial problem of having no/limited connectivity (a little error message kept on popping up, telling us that we have perfect connection, strong signal, but no connectivitiy). So using static IPs solved this problem, one laptop works perfectly fine now, the other can only connect via ethernet.

My firewall is disabled for the purpose of trying to fix this.

I was looking at our internet history and there are several sites on there and it seems no one is claiming visiting them. I want to believe that no one has been on these sites but I don't see any other way for them to appear on our internet history without someone viewing the site? Any ideas on how these got on there? Any possible way at all other than viewing the site....please, please help me. My trust and my marriage is potentially on the line here. I am looking for answers and I cannot think of anything, other than the worst. Any viruses or sites that hack into your computer and upload this stuff to your history, I know I'm grasping but I need answers. Please any thoughts at all?

I've never run across this before.

On our small business server, we need to access our credit card processing webpage. EVERY time we access this page and log in, the internet goes down on the server and it can't load any webpage. This ONLY occurs on our server. Accessing our provider's webpage on any other machine works fine. The only way to solve the issue is to physically unplug the ethernet cable, restart the computer, and plug it back in.

Could this be a virus?

We are running windows 7 64x.

Hi Folks,

My computer has been taken over by a virus and I am now only able to visit certain websites that require a password to enter. (facebook, mobileme, banking, etc). Cannot browse general websites (google, msn, windows, etc.). This ocurred on Dec 31st about 2:11PM as I tried to install a program that scanned OK with Norton AV. I then downloaded Twister Anti-Trojan and scanned the file to find out that it was infected with Trojan.Agent.dsci.ynkb. I have tried the Windows Malware Removal and it didn't correct my problem. I cannot find any information about this trojan on the web. Norton AV did give me alerts after the fact stating that conhost.exe was blocked from download by hxxp://4kversions.biz/gsver/gsver.php?sft=master-keystroke-logger-10.11.01&idm=800023

I have unplugged my connection to the internet until I can resolve this.

I have scanned my computer and have attached the files as requested. Any assistance will be appreciated. PS - I am on a different CPU to enter in this request.

My computer has the preloaded restore information (windows) on the D: drive of this computer.
Thanks Gerard

Hello,

I've recently discovered a problem with my computer. After visiting certain sites and clicking on a second link on that site, both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer will crash. So far, I have found this problem corresponds to two different sites, Lords of Pain (Wrestling News Site) and [email protected] (School Site). I was going to post this in the Malware Removal forum, but then I saw this topic in the forum. I also have noticed that the problem does not occur if I use Google Chrome, but I would much rather use Mozilla Firefox. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello BrianJBustos,I see that you have an HJT log posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/211124/computer-running-slow-browsers-crashing-ff-ie/ We do not allow more than one topic for the same computer and the same issue as this causes confusion, and in this case may make the disinfection process more difficult. This leaves you with a choice:1) Have this thread reopened and the HiJack This log topic deletedOR2) Keep this thread closed and wait for assistance in the HiJack This log forum. Please note that that forum is VERY busy. Please send a Private Message indicating your choice.Assuming you wish assistance in the HiJack This forum, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as s... Read more

I have an infected laptop running XP Pro SP3. It had Spyware Protect 2009 on it but I was able to stop the sysguard.exe process and delete sysguard.exe from the Windows subdirectory and from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\....\Run registry hive. There is still at least one other major problem. IE 7 is redirected to display "internet explorer warning visiting this web site may harm your computer" most of the time. I can get to google sometimes and even search something but when I try to follow a link - I get the redirection message. It also prevents me from running a system restore and most of the scanning software such as malwarebytes, SDfix and several others. I was able to run HijackThis but when I tried to post the report, it redirected me again so I saved the log file to a thumbdrive and logged onto an uninfected computer to post this.

I'm attaching the log file.

I have run Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Most likely causes:
The website contains exploits that can launch a malicious code on your computer
Suspicious network activity detected
There might be an active spyware running on your computer

What you can try:
Activate Antivirus 360 for secure Internet surfing (Recommended).
Check your computer for viruses and malware.

Suggestions?

Neither I nor my friend can access his website. We share a connection. I have checked with a host and they made sure that the firewall rules were reset and the firewall itself was restarted. we can get to the site through proxies, but when accessing from either computer the error "The server at www.XHIS_siteX.com is taking too long to respond." pops-up. I tried disconnecting the router and connecting straight through the modem ( cable modem through Shaw) still to no avail.
I know it isn't the server where the site is so I am thinking that there must be something wrong on my end.
Anybody got any suggestions?
Thank You.

My connection/websites will randomly go out yet my aim will continue working. I can also sign on aol with no problems, but I cannot access any websites. This will happen for maybe 20-30 mins at a time and then it will work for 20-30 mins then repeat. There is also a bit of lag. For example while I'm typing this the letters will lag and won't show up for a second or two (kind of freezes up I guess you could say). I'm not sure if this is a connection issue since aim continues to work or if it could be a virus/some sort of malware problem. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to these types of problems so if anyone knows of anything I should do I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi, I'm writing on the behalf of my brother, who's (desktop) PC is in the room as I write this on my laptop. We usually share our internet connection (I am still using it), but he is no longer able to connect.

In the past, he has gotten a "A network cable has been unplugged" message several times in seemingly random intervals, restarting his PC would usually fix this.

However yesterday he got a message: "This connection has limited or no connectivity" and his game (AlienSwarm at the time (through steam)) stalled out and he decided to restart the PC yet again, only this time after the reboot, he not only wasn't reconnected to the internet, he also couldn't find the Local Area Connection icon(s) in his Network Connections window, the only thing there is a "1394 Connection" which we have no clue about.

I'm gonna add my skype here if any helpful people need more info on this :P Feel free to add jaan.stern

Also I put this in the XP forum, because I wouldn't know which Network support subforum to use!
Thanks!

Sometimes when I'm at a hotel (as I am now for a couple weeks) my laptop won't connect to the high-speed Internet they offer via an Ethernet cable. Well, that's what's happening now -- I'm reduced to using dial-up to get on here so I can post this request.

Any ideas what could be happening? I tried Winsock XP Fix just in case, and it didn't work.

Here is the ipconfig:

Can anyone help? The icon says it's connected at 100 Mbps, but as the 169 IP makes clear, I can't open any websites.

The thing is that I'm unable to access some site which whom I had no connection problems before format. Sites like gigapedia.com or ifile.it (there are more of them, but these two are of particular inetrest to me) are no longer connectable. I tried to see so pattern in this 'blockade', but couldn't find it. I have adblock, but It's turned off on both sites, java is enabled, I cleared all browser cache to see if that helps but It didn't. Interestingly, when I used site anonymisers like http://www.proxybrowsing.com, problems disappeared I couls actually see conetnts of the site, but as It's required to login to these sites it didn't help me.Is It possible that thay kind of block my IP?(I have dynamic one).If any of you guys have some tips that might possibly help, please answer me.Regards,

Connection Problem: Can't connect to many websites
___
These include the techspot website and forum site, ebay websites and others.
This is most likely NOT a browser problem because i tried the websites on FireFox, Opera, IE7, and Safari. I am not sure if it is an ISP problem, but in case anyone needs it to help me solve the problem, it is Virgin Media size L broadband backage.

You may be wondering how I accessed the techspot forums. I did this using a proxy website: thrufare.com

Here is an example of the error messages i receive when trying to connect:
Firefox:

IE7:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Since updating to Windows 8 I havent been able to connect to my local web services on my main pc eg Sickbeard,SANZB and Plex but my Samsung Tv does connect through DLNA no problems. I have a surface and would like to be able to add shows and check downloads etc.
Tried disabling firewall and Windows defender.

A:Connection to my localhost websites on Windows 8

It might help to turn on the Media Devices sharing setting in PC settings, picture below.

Mine was turned off by default.

With the surface or wireless connections it should help to turn on the metered connection setting. This setting seems to prevent certain things from connecting or downloading device info. Two different ways to change this setting links below.

So after moving and getting u-verse installed, my pc cannot connect to numerous websites when connected to wifi. When wiring the connection via ethernet, all works fine. I get "took too long to respond" when trying to access websites such as speedtest.net, att.com, msn.com, etc. Youtube videos in 1080p load quickly. I don't even know who the ISP at my gf's last apartment was, but no issues before this.

Att doesn't seem to be able to figure out the issue. My gf hasn't yet brought her work computer home for me to try it out there. I don't seem to be having any problems accessing websites via my Note 5.

For that it's worth:

Go to settings >Network & Internet >Wi-Fi >Manage Wi-Fi settings>Click on the network you're having problems with>Forget>Turn Wi-Fi off & on again>Select network & enter password.

Ok internet explorer is not working niether firefox. About 2 weeks ago i went on my computer and an when i tried to go on any website it would not work. Seconds after, a firefox update starts but it does not do anything and the internet does not work.
-I have Norton But removed all Norton content from computer still did not do anything.
-before deleting Nortan Scanned for viruses no viruses were found
Safe mode WORKS, i figured out that by doing doing a system restore and going to a restore point will restore my computer and internet works everything is fine. BUT it is very annoying having to keep doing system restore because after i do system restore and turn off computer when i turn it back on its all over again the update and sites not working.

I know my internet works because with/without system restore internet games work perfectly fine.

Although keep doing system restore is really annoying it doesnt work anymore when i try 2 restore to a previouse point it loads and then says system restore incomplete there was no restore points found for that date although im certain there was because i used the same date like twice before. Gahh this is so frustrating my computer is like an old car reck. help is very appreciated!

I am currently having problems with any of my browsers (netscape, explorer, firefox) not being able to connect to certain websites, most annoyingly, the Microsoft home page. Other machines on my home network have no such difficulties. I have Norton running, and regularly do Adware SE sweeps. I recent went thorough the hair pulling experience of removing a version of CoolWebSearch off this machine. I suspect I did not get it all.

- I tried to ping servers like google, ping is working fine.
- also tried boot in safe mode, sites load perfect
- tried to turn off all services except microsoft, same problem, no websites loading...
- checked proxy and IP4v too, every settings are ok.

Any solution please?

Hi everyone. Our home DSL connection is behaving strangely. It denies access on a consistent basis to a large subgroup of websites. We can see slate.com no problem, but cnn.com not at all. We can call up the Hotmail login page, but not the post-login email display. Big sub-chunks of Yahoo! won't display, but the Yahoo! home page sets up fine.

I know of no common characteristic shared by the "denied" pages. They are all "mainstream" sites, e.g. nothing that a NetNanny-type solution would censor. Connection speed is excellent and non-"denied" pages load lickety-split; they are live, and not cached pages. When you click to a "denied" page the browser just hangs and times out. The problem is observable on multiple computers, cabled and wifi. Our home DSL provider is Verizon.

I have had this phenomenon occur before on my workplace DSL hookup. Different subgroup of inaccessible websites, but the same "hang" problem. After a couple of contentious service calls with Qwest during which they did nothing, the problem went away by itself. It took about ten days.

Any ideas? I'm stumped.

A:Connection Blocks Access to Certain Websites Arbitrarily

I'm having somewhat the same problem. Two sites that I can't hit are www.buccaneers.com and www.pogo.com. I have SBC DSL and I'm having the same problem on both my PC and my laptop which is connected via a wireless linksys router. I just got off of the phone with SBC and the most they would do is take a look at my internet settings, which were all correct. Could this be a virus of some kind?

I’ve been having a problem with my internet connect for about a month. I had the service hooked up (Time Warner) about two months ago and it worked fine for three or four weeks. All of a sudden webpages wouldn’t load sporadically and I found myself having to hit the reload button over and over. This problem occurs on all browers including Chrome, Firefox, and Explorer. Anyway, it was a huge hassle, so I tried to figure it out. I've called the ISP, the router tech support, and everything and I haven't gotten anywhere!

On my network I have one desktop directly connected to the router, a wireless laptop, and a Samsung Airave directly connected to the router for cell phone service. The wireless laptop is my primary computer. The desktop is used for watching streaming movies and shows on my LCD television. I have the same problem with it. The Airave seems to work fine, but I don’t think it’s affected in the same way as the computers. Both computers are running XP with Service Pack 3 on the laptop and Service Pack 2 on the desktop. All of the settings are set to obtain the IP automatically.

I’ve replaced the Belkin router, which was a total piece of garbage, and replaced it with a Netgear. The Netgear was working great until a couple of days ago when the problem resurfaced. It isn’t as bad, but it’s still annoying.

I’ve tried hooking both computers up to the modem directly and it still does the same thing, although at one point the wireless wouldn’t work at al... Read more

I have a weird problem with surfing the internet on my server (OS: XP Pro).

It started when I installed Citrix's ICA client software. Internet explorer and MSN can no-longer connect to the internet. The odd thing is that other computers that connect to the internet through this machine can connect just fine. Furthermore some programs, such as P2P filesharing programs and the ICA client itself work okay on the server.

I am able to access websites using IE if I type in the IP address, but not the URL. I thought at first that maybe the software I installed had messed up my DNS settings, but they seem to be the same as ever (Set to auto-detect).

I had thought of uninstalling the Citrix ICA client software but a) I need to use it and b) Citrix have neglected to include an uninstaller with their software

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I have been struggling with accessing certain websites while using my laptop, HP Envy 14; Intel i5 CPU; Windows 7 Home Premium x64. For example, while I am able to navigate to Google, performing a search containing the word "statistics" results in a deactivation of google `instant' and a "Problem loading page" error that prevents me from accessing the search results. There are many other such 'keywords' that result in the same thing. The problem is not limited to google (yahoo, ask, or virtually any search engine gives the same). The "Problem loading page" error is not even limited to searches, as it occurs for certain websites too, though indirectly through searches as that is how I locate most of the websites I visit. I was using Firefox 11.0 when I first noticed this issue, but it is the same if I switch to IE9.

The problem is not limited to my home internet connection, but occurs for every network I connect to. Interestingly, if I run a web browser through my Virtual Linux machine the problem disappears and I have no issues connecting to any websites. I have tried running SpyBot S&D to see if it was a malware issue and CCleaner to see if it went away if I cleared all my old settings / temporary files. Unfortunately, neither helped. I hope to be able to solve this problem as it is extremely aggravating, as I don't really know what the cause could be. If you have any suggestions, or need any information, let me know. OK. I'm trying to switch from wireless to a faster(?) ethernet cable based internet access.
I use a Dell Optiplex 755, 32 bit OS, Windows 7. I'm the utilizing Comcast high speed internet supplier, a LinkSys E4200 wireless router, a LinkSys WUMC710 (wireless-ac universal media connector; with promises faster connections/speeds) with ethernet cable OUT to the ONLY ethernet port/card supplied [Network Connector (RJ-45)] on the rear of the small form factor tower. when I run the PC with USB wireless (Linksys AE2500) it works fine, but, I hope for an improvement with the LinkSys WUMC710 inserted in the chain.
the Network Adapter (found in Device Manager) is the Intel(R) 82566DM-2 Gigabit Network Connection. This DOES NOT work with the ethernet cable connection (error 651, WAN Miniport problem). even when I uninstall this driver, it reinstalls upon Windows 7 restart, which is contrary to some of the suggested fix posts I've found in on-line forums dealing with these types of issues.

I'm thinking it may be a missing driver for the ethernet port/Network Connector (RJ-45), but, I am neither a hardware, nor IT tech. therefor I have no idea what driver I would SPECIFCICALLY require ofr this port(?), nor can I discern the particular ethernet card that came factory installed on this machine. I have consulted the Dell site and, lo & behold, they don't endorse using Windows 7 on the Optiplex 755, so the only driver updates/downloads are listed for endorsed OS's XP & Vista. so n... Well I've fiddled around and searched to no avail ...

I have some form of conflict between my main wireless network and a LAN I use for file
transfer and streaming.

The attached PDF file illustrates the setup. Basically, the wireless network is fine by
itself. Music streams from the Asus EeePC to the various Squeezeboxes and internet
connectivity is enabled on all PCs and the iPad.

The LAN works well by itself, allowing me to use FreeFileSync to quickly and relaible
transfer / backup music between the Acer dekstop and Asus netbook server PCs, and to
stream music from the Asus EeePC (which is the music server running Logitech Media
Server) to the Squeezebox 2.

However, the two networks can't co-exist without the Acer and/or Asus losing internet
connectivity when their respective LAN connections are made to the Buffalo router they
share with the Squeezebox 2.

I have attached the ipconfig /all output in the out.txt file and diagram of the network in Network.pdf.

I suspect this is a simple clash of parameters somewhere, or incompatible IP addresses but I'm not good enough to resolve it.

Thanks.

I just recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv6 2155 notebook about a month ago. i am a college student and i live on campus i normally connect to the campus internet by plugging in my ethernet cord. It's been working fine for the past month until yesterday it started going real slow then it completely stopped working. It says that im connected but it says no internet access. It shows up as IPv4 No internet connection and IPv6 no internet connection. My brother has a laptop and he connects the same way as i do and his is working just fine. I've tried googling the problems and troubleshooting them but it still doesn't seem to work. Someone please help me!!! Thanks....I did the ipconfig /all in command prompt and this is what it shows up

I need some help--I believe my son 12 year old son is visiting inappropriate website while we are at work. At the end of the night I clean out the temporary internet folder to free up space on the computer and last night I was just scan the folder and found all kinds of porn websites!! So I clean it out and when I logged on this evening the sites he normally visits are there but so where other porn sites.

Tell if Im wrong but is it true that every website you visit is recorded in the temp internet folder? and so popups get space there and when those cookies automatically go there is the computer is just left on which is what he is trying to tell me.

So is there another way to find out a list of websites that have been visited.

I really need to get these questions asked.

Thanks

I have a wired internet connection and am on the internet (says so and successful cmd pings to google etc) but none of my browers will open internet sites. They just sit there loading the page. (firefox, chrome, IE8 and safari)

When I try ipconfig/renew I get an error saying it was unable to contact DHCP server. Request timed out. The router is working fine for wireless and other wired connections so I'm not sure what the issue is... Anyone have any ideas? It was working fine before I left for Christmas holidays.

The other day I was just following some links to a couple of sites, one was free6.com and the other nudeamateurhoes.com and now I have a weird icon on my taskbar. The icon itself says curse when moused over but has no way to exit the icon like the others on my task-bar.

Anyone every experience this problem and is it related to the sites or did I get it some other way.

Btw I did manage to find it and it in my programs folder and it is called curse.exe but when I try to delete it I am told I dont have access rights or something like that to delete this file.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, thought I'd see if all is well on the folk's PC, since I'm not up close and personal with it like this often. For one thing I think the google toolbar entries are different than they are on other machines I have it on. (Mainly want to make sure nothing sinister is going on, but would also be interested in shutting off everything that can be. For example I did install Windows Messenger and enable Remote Assistance since we are going to try that when the need arises after I leave again, but assume I should figure out how to keep Windows Messenger from being on all the time. It's not enabled in msconfig or anything.)

Hello wise ones,

I often have guests staying w/ me from around the world that I know little about other than intuition, what is on their profile and written references from other hosts. Through www.couchsurfing.com

I am very concerned letting them use my PC as they may download a virus or install a key logger. (Kapersky is installed and shows up under the guest identity on XP. But I think perhaps they could turn it off and bypass it?)

What would be the best way to allow them computer access?

1. Get an old PC for them to use? (if they are on my router can they access my other PC's personal information? If so how do I limit them from accessing my PC info?)

2. Install a software program like used at a Internet Cafe?

Any other ideas?

Kind Thanks!

so im wondering if there is another way to change these settings? or why is it saying that? we had a storm yesterday so I figured maybe its down due to that, but i can't imagine it not being fixed as of yet.
thanks in advance.

A:is there a way to get into my router without visiting the webpage?

It may have damaged the router
you could try resetting the router - there will be a reset button on the back, this will take it back to factory condition, however, that will mean resetting all the settings, and if it resets and still will not let you log into the router, then you will probably no longer have any internet access, as you can not set this up....

If you have the Setup CD that may have come with the router - you maybe able to access the settings via setup CD.

Hi,

I posted this in the general security section and was told to run dds and repost here.

Recently I have had a crazy amount of website pop-ups/entire internet windows from sites like cafemom.com, nationalsurveyboard.com, shopwhiz.net, and junk like that asking me to take a survey or offering some kind of prize. It happens almost anytime and does not seem to be associated with any particular website, but it definitely happens when I'm on craigslist and another forum type site as well as etsy. I have tried to block some of these sites specifically, but end up just making my normal browsing much more difficult and not actually getting anything blocked.

I had a post on this site for some redirection help a couple of months ago and the scans I ran apparently did not show anything. It might have been user error with some spysweeper settings?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appeciated. Thanks.

I have Vista Home Edition Premium 64x. I has worked fine for two months. Just recently, I cannot use the internet or play online games. I primarily use wireless but use DSL. I am able to see wi-fi networks and connect (DSL shows a connection too), but unable to load any web pages. I uninstalled Norton. Dropped all the firewalls for Windows. But still, I cannot load any web pages. WOW cannot connect. Bittorrent cannot connect. Firefox or IE cannot either. I searched all over Vista (I'm new to it) and found no settings that would makes sense to adjust for the problem. I looked at these forums and found no solutions to similar problems (Are these people trashing their Vista?). I finally had to partition the drive and install Suse Linux 11.1 to just get to this site try to find an answer. Being that Linux has no problem with wi-fi or DSL and loading web pages, I know it's not a bios or hardware problem. I know it's Vista.

What is wrong with Vista, because I never changed any network settings while using it? Is there a way to restore the network part of the Vista package without having to purchase Vista again? Vista came installed so I dont' have a instal disk. All my restore points seemed to be corrupted with this problem. What can I do?

This is a new thread for a continuing problem. I have worked with John Wills and Cheeseball81 to try resolving but have had no luck. Initially John discovered malware on my computer and sent me to that forum. Cheeseball81 helped me discover and remove malware but the problem still remains.

I have internet connection on my Dell Inspiron B120 laptop via cat5 cable to my Linksys router connected to my Comcast modem. I can get my emails through Thunderbird and my antivirus updates regularly without any issue. When I go to websites, it just keeps "waiting" on whatever website I am going to (doesn't matter if I'm using Firefox or IE). I have reset the router (in order to obtain new ip address) and that didn't resolve the problem either. When I power off the pc, router, and modem wait 5 minutes to power on the modem, router, and pc the first person who logs in has internet access until they are either logged off or is switched to another user. The problem recurs then.

I am frustrated as this has been happening for over three weeks and I'm no closer to finding a solution. Anyone have any other ideas for me to try so I can resolve the problem?

Like the title says, I have a computer that is only connecting to a select few websites. There are 3 computers connected at my location. 2 are XP, one is Vista and it's the Vista system that won't connect.

I have done a little troubleshooting, but so far no luck.

Usually it will act like it's going to go to the website, but it won't go. The progress bar at the bottom will slowly go to about 40% and stop, but usually when the internet doesn't go to a website, it will go to the Error404 page and give you options for diagnosing your connection. It's not going to that page, though, it just stays at a "blank" screen in IE.

Any ideas? Things to check? Thank you in advance for any help I might receive.

I think that a Netgear routher I looked at had the capability... it has an outbound firewall so you can restrict access and times of day as well...

then there are products like MS Proxy Server or Websense software you run on the proxy server.

If you do not have budget for a proxy server you will need to get the Bay networks netgear switch/routher... check it...

I am seeking advice here to solve a problem with internet connection on my laptop.
The laptop (Thinkpad X61 running 32 bit Vista) seems to be ok to connect to my router, which is connected to a cable modem. Internet is also connected on the base level (more details below). However Internet Explorer (or firefox, opera) cannot find any web page, and Mozilla Thunderbird email program cannot connect to email server.
I am decently ok with computers, so I have run some checks myself. This is not a problem of router or cable modem, as my other computers can access internet through the same router and modem. Also, the laptop gets an IP address from the router and can connect to shared resources on other computers within the same network.
The laptop also finds outside addresses and get a response when I run ping command, e.g. ping www.google.com or ping www.yahoo.com, suggesting that the connection to DNS server is fine at the base level.
I was suspecting that windows firewall, my Symantec antivirus or VPN is creating the problem. But the problem persists after I disabled firewall and the antivirus software and deleted VPN connection.
One important thing to mention is that this problem starts when after a software install, which I removed afterwards. I tried to run netsh reset by "netsh winsock reset catalog", "netsh int ipv4 reset myreset.log" and "netsh int ipv6 reset myreset.log" and restart. Still does not work.

I am trying to figure out why I cannot send out emails while I am visiting family. I have access to the internet and can receive emails without problem, but I cannot send out messages, even though I have confirmed that my outgoing email settings are correct. I can send out emails when I am at home and accessing my home network wirelessly, but when I visit family, I cannot send out emails. I am using a laptop with Vista and all of the current Windows updates and am using Outlook 2007 for email. My mom has the same problem when she comes to my house though. Her email works perfectly at home, but when she comes to my house and uses my network, she can receive email, but not send. Any thoughts?

A:can receive, not send out when visiting friends

If the person you are visiting has different ISP than you, you will have to connect to that ISP's network in order to send mail with an email client.

You can check with YOUR ISP to find out what settings you need to change OR see if is an FAQ which will guide you through configuring the client for use when traveling OR you can use your ISP web mail.

I think this is the website where the malware came from, but I'm not sure. I've included the URL here, in case it helps someone figure out what my problem is.

I didn't click on any of the advertisements or install any new programs or download any files. But within 5 minutes of my visiting the page, popups began to rapidly show up. I usually use FireFox, but they were coming from Internet Explorer. They were coming very fast- maybe 20 within as many seconds, so I unplugged my wireless router and forcibly disconnected my computer from the internet.

I used another computer to look up tutorials on how to get rid of a malware problem, and downloaded recommended programs. I also edited the registry myself and deleted registry keys that were obviously associated with the malware that hadn't been there before (named things like "vvxxasjdfdsf.exe" and such) but this malware is obviously beyond my limited expertise, because it is still there.

My computer hasn't been connected to the internet since. (I'm using a different computer to post here.)

When the computer's on, Internet Explorer attempts to connect to the internet every few minutes. For the first few minutes where I didn't realize I had a problem, I'm pretty sure it connected to more malware sites and downloaded more crap onto my computer. Spybot seems to have gotten almost everything, except for the very stubborn root problem, which Spybot says is "Smitfraud.C"

Hello.

I've not had this happen to me before. On visiting "RosariansCorner" I receive the attached message.

I can get to the site through the cached sites in Google but can't navigate the actual site.

Have you come across this before. Other sites are fine. I'm using Firefox and Windows XP.

Thank you.

Penny.

All of your dumpfiles blames Probably caused by : RTKVHD64.sys ( RTKVHD64+1af077 )
This is the driver for your Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver

Your Dell model only supports windows 7 drivers see here

But maybe the generic driver from Realtek will also work on your Dell machine. Try updating to the latest windows 8.1 compatible driver from here.

I've had this problem for quite some time. Last time there's just no video showing even though there's audio playing in the background. But now when I open Dailymotion on my mozilla firefox, it crashes immediately.

I've uninstalled MF and Flash player and reinstall them again but it's still not working. Dailymotion is working fine with IE, and this depends as well.

Please help me thanks a lot.

Version of mozilla - 3.6.24 (i'm using the old version one cause there are some add on that are disabled in the latest verion)
Version of IE - 8.0

Monzilla Firefox new one is 10.0.2

Your old browsers can be causing this problem. I have no problem going to the website.

Hello all, I'm new at this so please excuse any mistakes.

Over the past two weeks, I've received occasional virus warnings when I go to Foxnews.com.
Avast warns me about "http://iwqoxiaw.info/ng/pdf.php" and provides a name of: JS:Pdfka-BG.
This has not happened on any other websites.

I'm running XP Pro, Avast virus, and Zone Alarm.

I'm a bit concerned as I can't find any info about this that I understand and was wondering if anyone could help.

I've attached the "attach.txt file and a hijack this log.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

So I've always wondered if you can get a virus/malware just by visiting a website?

I always thought this was a No, because I believe a user is only infected when he/she opens up that malware/virus FILE, once you open it up and install it then you are infected.

I know there are drive by downloads, but your anti-virus or anti-malware program should detect the file and automatically delete it.

Malware/virus can't infect your computer unless you open the file, right?

A:can you get a virus/malware just by visiting a website?

Hi NEMS Yes, it's entirely possible to get infected by simply visiting a website. Most commonly via what we call "Exploit Kits". Right now, EK are used to deliver a lot of dangerous malware (such as banking trojans and Cryptoware) to computers worldwide. So using a standard Antivirus and Antimalware won't cut it. Using a program that protects your web browser against such threats, like Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit will. but your anti-virus or anti-malware program should detect the file and automatically delete it.This is assuming that the file pushed on your system is already known to your Antivirus or Antimalware (in its database). If it's not, it won't do anything. And we all know that no products have a 100% detection ratio.Edit: For more information on Exploit Kits and how they work, see the article below.Tools of the Trade: Exploit Kits

I'm pretty sure I've been hit with something, but I'm not sure how to trace it down.

I need to try to identify what it is so I can make sure i know what they were looking for.

Here's one of the only screenshots Ive been able to grab of the offending software.

It appears to customize what is displayed based upon GeoIP.

Where do I begin? I haven't done malware removal in depth since XP SP2.

Thanks,

Greetings from Finland!

Thanks for a very useful page!

After a visit on a warez-page the weirdest things happened to my computer..
Luckily, it seems like most of them are gone now, thanks to this page! I found the program HijackThis and were able to get
rid of some annoying stuff, for instance that "http://ehttp.cc/?". What is that by the way?

One thing is still bothering me though and believe that's because of the same warez-page. It's kind of strange acctually...
Some pages (for instance http://www.suprnova.org/ and http://www.aftonbladet.se/) started to run REALLY slow! And it doesn't
seem to have anything to do with the internet connection itself; when i check Task Manager-->Performance-->CPU Usage, it's¨
like 100%! Despite I don't do anything!
What is the problem and moreover, how do I fix it? Would it help you if I posted one of those "hijack-logs"?

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

Today, while  visiting a website with IE, I suddenly got a new window which contained a message from "NSA+ FBI" ( or smthg like that), telling me that I am at risk of being thrown to jail for the next 5-7 years unless I pay a fine of about 150$ either with my credit card or by buying some sort of prepaid phone cards. It was imposible for me to close the window or to use CTRL+ ALT+DEL so as to close it from Task Manager. So, I shut down the computer from the start menu.

After restarting it, the internet works much slower.

Since then, I ran a quick scan with my Security Essentials (updated right before starting the scan), which lasted for about 70 minutes (!!!) but found nothing . I have also performed a scan using Microsoft's Safety Scanner, which returned the result that there are no unwanted programs on my computer.

But if no unwanted software is on my computer, then how come did I got that screen asking me for money on behalf of CIA/ FBI.. etc... ?????

Thank you
