Solved: What does "Warning: message could not send for the past 4 hours" mean anyway?

Q: Solved: What does "Warning: message could not send for the past 4 hours" mean anyway?

I sent an email to a few hundred people and for around 40 of them i got this "Warning: message could not send for the past 4 hours" email back. I understand that its not a Fail message and this this is one of those "there are no stupid questions" things but i would like to know:

What does this mean anyway?
Does the person receive my email if i do not get a Failure message after this?
Is there a way that i will not receive this message and only receive total failure messages?

I had the a few hundred other messages go through fine so i don't understand what causes this to happen to just a few dozen emails.

Thank you for being kind to Stupid Questions

A: Solved: What does "Warning: message could not send for the past 4 hours" mean anyway?

Let's say I work for a company whose email goes to abc.com; you send to me at [email protected] and get one of those messages back. The message means, in essence, that your mail got to abc.com, but some kind of problem with the system prevented the message from being sent to my actual mail server or computer. It's possible that the reason my be that I was fired and you will eventually get a "hard" failure message, but generally it means that abc will fix their system and the message will eventually get to me.

I'm sure there are some exceptions but, in general, I will get the message if you don't latter get a "hard" failure message.

At work we are having problems receiving an email with an encrypted attachment from another company. Monthly they send alerts to do with debit cards and since they have been doing this everytime we never get the email and they eventually get mail delivery subsystem error back saying " could not send message for past four hours {encrypt On Reply}" in the body of the email it says "timeout writing message to (name of my email server) : resource temporarily unavailable ( the email address it is trying to be sent to)" I have check on our end the smtp log file and it never even shows the email hitting our gateway so I dont see why we would be blocking the email. It seems to me this is something on thier end but they cant find a solution. Once again this is an email with an encrypted attachment that is an alert.. it is emailed to a distribution email address then sent to evryone in that distribution list. They get other emails fine it is just this certain one that we cant get. Does anyone have any idea what could be keeping this email from coming through?

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I'm not the only person to have this problem. I received a private message from a member of another forum where I posted about this problem several weeks ago. That person also has the same problem with the duration field.

The tech guys on that forum were unable to find the source... Read more

My laptop has been infected, as a result I am seeing a blue background with a rectangular box in the middle. The top half of this box is yellow and says "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer." The bottom half is blue and says "Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer."

I have run Norton , Grisoft and Spy-Bot, none of which has removed it.

My system crashed recently and I have had to restore everything. I reinstalled Outlook 2007 and was able to restore my PST file from a backup I had using the genie backup product. All my files and folders are now restored.

When I click on the send/receive button, I get this message "The operation failed. An object could not be found"

I deleted my email setup account (I'm downloading from my att account) and re set it up using the instructions on the att site. I also ran the 'repair' function off the Office CD and did the Office diagnostics.

Any suggestions?

Hi everyone!

Yesterday my HP laptop (Windows 7) started getting BSOD with various types of errors (mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "STOP: 0x0000007A", "c00021a" and one "missing %hs, c0000135"). Most of the time it restarts without any issues and works fine right after the BSOD and then an hour or two later I get a BSOD again.

I have tried restoring to Last Known Good Configuration, startup repair, hard disk check, virus scans and I also uninstalled any recently added programs I could think of and cleared up more than 50% of my hard disk space. None of these seem to have helped and I still get BSOD regularly.

I have attached the folder from the SF Diagnostic Tool and would appreciate any advice!
Thank you!

Had an error message in Norton about could not read incomming email for Outlook and then a message in explorer about shutting down. So, I rebooted and up comes a message I have never seen before "preparing network connections" (and I am on dial up if that helps at all) but now cannot get by the mesage box that follows (lsasse.exe. not found). Click it and nothing happens. Tried safe mode and same message and then click it and restarts in normal mode and back to the message. Can only get out of there by holding the on/off switch until it shuts off. Tried last settings and restore but nothing. I know now I should have maybe run Norton. I do not have unfortunately Norton rescue disks made up. How can I get the sytem past the system program lsasse.exe? What to do? I ran Ad-Aware a couple of days ago and cleared off about 20 critical objects....

My father who is very new to internet surfing used my computer while I was away. When I came back there is this message shown as a desktop background "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer" and I could not make any change to the desktop background. I suspected it might be some kind of spyware, but I could be wrong since my computer always ran ZoneAlarm and AVG in the background.

I ran Panda ActiveScan and found that the computer is infected. The scan result is attached as a text file (activescan.txt). I then ran HiJackThis and below is the result. Please suggest what I should do next. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I read here and attempted to fix this before posting. Your forum is so informative and I think its great that so many of you help out here as volunteers.

The problem when I boot up is I have a black screen with a huge pop up stating "WARNING YOUR IN DANGER" then smaller print saying like 'all you do on your computer is stored on your hard disc' .......and etc.

Okay, so I ran my EZ Antivirus, Ad Aware, Spybot (everything is updated and I run behind Zone Alarm premium). My system is XP.

I followed the directions from another thread and through that I already uninstalled PC Guard through add/remove. Then I DL LSPfix and saved it. I DL smitRem.zip and opened up the RunThis.bat file (only after in safe mode later), I DL CCleaner and altered the options as per instructions from the other thread. I also DL Ewido Security Suite and altered the additional options as instructed. I killed system restore then booted in safe mode. Oh yes and I DL Hijack This.

Then I opened the RunThis.bat file and finished the disk cleanup completely. Then I ran Ewido and saved report. Then I started Ccleaner. I reset websettings under Internet Options. Then I went to control panet>Display>Desktoop tab>customize desktop>Web tab>Web Pages>then deleted the entry 'Security'. Then I rebooted out of safe mode. Afterwards I ran ActiveScan online and saved report. Finally then I did the HijackThis log.

Please see below the reports from my ewido and ac... Read more

Hi,

We are running a Windows 2000 Terminal server, and every day at about 4 oclock it seems we are unable to connect to our Terminal Server using Remote Desktop. There are numerous events in the event log saying "Attempt to send a message to a disconnected communications port" with Event ID 55. We find that a reboot of the server fixes the problem. There are no inactive sessions, and I have set a limit to end sessions after 10 minutes. Has anyone come across this problem before?

Thanks,

All of a sudden, an address that I email to often won't go through. I get the message "DELIVERY FAILURE: User [email protected] not listed in public Name & Address Book"

I tried to access help but I can't understand what they're talking about. The address book, or whatever it is, is a mystery to me. It's not related to the "contacts", is it? Because I have all my email addresses in the contacts area. The address book, I don't know.

How do I resolve this?

This message is on the center of my desktop whenever the computer's started and stays there. The top of the box is yellow and says in black text "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer." The bottom is blue with white text and says "Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer."

I ran Spybot, it found nothing. I cannot run Ad-Watch, the program starts and then immediately closes as well so I assume that whatever's going on is attempting to block real "ad removal" programs.

Plus now my computer is unstable, it's about as bad as a two legged table in an earthquake, I was getting blue screens while doing the online Panda Activescan, the errors were something like Panic something (Haha sorry I was trying to get some sleep while it was scanning and my half-awake self forgot to write down what was said). Excel 2007 Send email "message has not been Sent"
I'm having a major problem with excel sending an attachment as and email.
I go to send email and it opens up a new message with the worksheet attached. Above the send button it says "this message has not been sent."
Next I select the person it is going to...and hit send.
The email box never closes and the message still says, "this message has not been sent."
But the email goes through to the person. The issue is that you really don't know if it sent because the box does not close or say it has sent.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks

I have a W7 32bit laptop and I do not have MS Office installed. I have been using Hotmail until a couple weeks ago when I was "converted" to outlook.com email - which I like OK. When I'm using a browser - IE9 in this case - and when I click on "send link as" or "send page as", it launches Windows Live Mail and puts me in a WLM output email. I would instead like it to launch me into outlook.com and an outlook.com output email. How can I do this - or can't it be done at all?

If I've posted to the wrong board plz let me know which board to post it to.

Hello WSF,

I recently installed the Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit OS on my rig. Ever since installation I've been having this really odd warning at startup during boot process.
This is how it happens:
1) Power on, XFX splash screen pops up and computer proceeds through the DOS screens and whatnot
2) Literally seconds after the XFX Splash screen and after some system loading occurs, a warning appears on screen while still in the DOS screens.
It says exactly this: "Warning! The system case was opened sometime after last reboot. Please check the system." Then below that: "Press F1 to continue or DEL to enter Setup."
I've seen and experienced F1 warnings, like the "Floppy Drive Missing!" Etc, fixed those. But nothing like this. I've searched all over Google for it and I have come up with nothing. As far as I'm concerned there are no records of it.
Right now it isn't a primary concern, just an annoying obstacle, as I cannot walk away to let me PC boot like I used to. I have to wait to press F1; just an inconvenience. BUT, what does concern me is its mysteriousness. Could it be some sort of virus/intrusion? I have McAfee's best protection and have kept my HDD pretty darn clean. How could the system even detect that my case was open in the first place anyhow? I've opened my case many times before this OS installation without any problems. Any help/insight appreciated.
Thanks,
AOTC

Hi,

If you could make a new screen shot that would be great. I would recommend that you minimize every window that you don't need. Then take another screenshot that way it won't seem so cluttered. Also, I am not sure what I am looking at there, if you could describe the shot a little bit so that we know what it is.

Cheers!

I have Vista attached to a domain. All users login to the domain from the Vista machine.

I have verified:
On the domain that certain users have logon hour restrictions.
The domain policy is "enabled"
The domain controller policy is enabled
The local policy on the domain controller is enabled.

Yet the users do not get logged out automatically when their hours expire. The local policy on Vista is "disabled", and I cannot change it, as it says I have to make the change on the DC, but that is already enabled. I've run a "gpupdate /force" and still no changes.

Hi all,
I'm running a dual boot of ubuntu and vista,
vista on internal and ubuntu on external. I've been living with the problem and really can't put up with it any more. This error started around the time i installed ubuntu.

Approximately one hour after logging on, i get a message box, entitled windows activation that says "your windows license will exprie in 0 hours. Backup your files and then install any edition of windows vista." Another hour later, it does a reboot, but like a desktop turning off at the wall. No "Would you like to save?" or anything. The msg box can be seen here, though closer to when i first got the problem (note the 7 days):
At the bottom of this page, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/preview.mspx it gives an exact description of the problem. Except i'm not running a beta, it's a full legit version of vista home premium. A while ago (when i first got the problem) I even changed my product key
(MS were very helpful on the phone, though it was lengthy).

*NOTE: It never reboots in ubuntu*
Any help would be Very helpful!

Thanks,

Hi, I have a Compaq CQ50-108CA Laptop, running Windows 7 RC 1. Just earlier today this problem started where after I put in my password it kept saying "Welcome" and then it stayed like that for hours and then I just did a hard shutdown and then I went to safe mode to remove the password. So safe mode works but regular mode doesn't. Password or no password. I also have Vista on the HD and that is working with no problems. What can I do to fix this. Thank you very much.

I am creating a schedule for work, and I was wondering if it was possible to auto obtain information from the schedule. For example, a schedule would have 12:00-5:00 available hours, and let's say John works 2-5 and Mary works 12-2. I have included a sample spreadsheet to give the layout.

Is there a way to "count" the number of times Mary appears in the schedule, divide by 2 (since they are 30 minute shifts), and that equals the total number of hours worked?

So, do a formula similar to:

Highlight all cells that have workers.
Check all cells to see if worker is working that day.
If true, count the number of times their name appears.
Divide that value by two.

I am just unfamiliar with how I would go about writing that formula, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

When I open an old (2003) Exel-file with VBA-code in it with Excel 2007, I get one of these two responses
and I do not know what causes Excel to make different choices
-----------------
1)
A Dialog Box: "Microsoft Excel Security Notce"
This one is very similar to the one in Excel 2003 and that is how I want Excel to behave.
The user has to “Enable Macros” to go on and work with the file.

2)
"Security Warning"
This one is new in 2007 and the user can continue to work with the file even if he does not see the security warning.
That means that VBA-code that I (the programmer) want to run when the file is opened, does not execute.
--------------------------

My problem is that I do not know what causes the two different behaviors and cannot force Excel to open files with the first Dialog box.
Can you?

A:Solved: Excel "Security Notice" vs "Security Warning"

I think most of the info will be in the dailog screen, i'sn't there's more text in the dialog box than the text you mentioned?

I think if you read through it it'll become clear.

It has all to do with the improved Security settings with 2007 and up

Some new phones are doing away with the virtual HDD and switching to MTP for transferring files to/from the device. Because of this every time I want to copy MP3s to my MTP device I get a Windows message saying "Your device might not be able to
play or view this file" forcing me to click "Ignore this error" every time I start a new copy. I am VERY grateful that there is an option that says "Do this for all remaining files", but it's still really annoying because each time I start a new file copy
it pops up.
To be clear, this is not a device or driver issue. This is a windows prompt that is specifically tied to MTP devices.
Is there a registry key I can change so Windows will automatically assume the answer is "Yes, your file will be copied, but you might not be able to play or view it on your device"? Or perhaps a key where I can change the file types this prompt is
tied to?

A:warning message "Your device might not be able to play or view this file" when copying MP3s to MTP device

Hi,

Based on my research and test, I?m afraid that this feature is by-design. We cannot simply disable or change the feature by editing the registry.

I think you can use the transfer tool from your phone manufacturer.

Hope this helps.

I am reasonably sure that I shut my girlfriend's computer down with no issues last night, but this morning when she turned it on the computer had her wallpaper up with no icons instead of the User login page. She hard-reset, and ever since then - no matter which user we log in as - Vista won't load past the Welcome screen.

It will load up in all three compatibility modes, but the Last Known Good Configuration only loads to a blank black screen which I can move the pointer around on.

I've run a virus scan, and jv16 Power Tools says the registry is now clean, but the computer is still having issues. Would fixing registry errors be why the Last Known Good Configuration doesn't work?

The computer is an Intel Core 2 Duo Sony VAIO, with 4GB RAM running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1.

I've tried Startup Repair, System Restore, chkdsk /f, and the "ctrl-alt-del at the welcome screen" method, all to no avail. Safe mode boots fine. A:add a "drive letter" to the "send to" drop down list

Place a shortcut to the drive (or folder) you want to be the target in c:\Documents and Settings\"Your User Name"\SendTo folder. That is the directory from which the Send To menu is loaded. I'm looking at a win2000 system and the XP location may be slightly different but it's somewhere in there. If you put the shortcut in the "Default User" folder then whenever you create a new user, that user will have the same option.

I double-click and get "search" instead of "open"--only when I click a disk, like Hard Drive C: or Floppy A: or CD F: and so on.

It didn't used to do this, so I must've inadvertently changed some setting somewhere, but darned if I can find it now.

Any ideas?

Help, I keep on getting a "Windows Security Alert" popup appearing that says:

"Warning ! Potential Spyware Operation!

Your computer is making unauthorised copies of your system and
Internet files. Run full scan now to prevent any unauthorised access
to your files! Click YES to download spyware remover ..."

This is currently appearing about every 5 minutes.

Also, I ran Spybot S&D, and it detected and removed Smitfraud.C

I just checked in my startup folder and found 2 programs that I think shouldn't be there "autorun.exe" and "system.exe"

What's going on here?

Big Kudos to anybody who can solve this one! Very little/nothing on Google or microsoft support site.
Here's the problem:

I'm helping a family member who has a new Dell PC with Windows XP Home, Outlook Express 6.
Every time they close Outlook Express, the following Warning pops up:
To free up disk space OE can compact messages. This may take a few minutes. There are 2 options - OK and Cancel.

Here is the rub: We've closed the warning, or we've clicked OK, or we've clicked cancel, we've checked the box that says don't ask me again....these warnings continue to come up next time (EVERY time) Outlook Express is closed.

This is a senior citizen who has, maybe, 20 email messages and no shortage of memory or disk space. I want to prevent this warning from coming up ever again. How do I do it? Is there some default I can change somewhere?

I've tried running a full system scan with PC-Cillin 2006, ewido, spybot, trojan hunter but the problems keep occuring. Any help would be appreciated.

Friends
here's an obscurity: I love IMGBURN, but apparently due to some other package I either have, or had, loaded, I get a warning every time I do a project now, which reads:

"Duplex Secure's SPTD Driver can have a detrimental effect on performance "

Can someone tell me about this? what is the *.inf or .drv file name? And what package may be the offender? I'll be glad to dispense with it if I had a little info

thx
Z

A:Solved: Warning in IMGBurn: "SPTD Driver" ??? How to uninstall that?

File is at c:\windows\system32\drivers\sptd.sys
Uninstall Daemon Tools. Use Gizmo Drive instead.

Also: http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/faq
Q: How can I disable SPTD on my computer to check if it causes problems?

A: If your system has some problems with SPTD installation you can do as follows:

If your system is already running then go to step 2 directly. Otherwise start from step 1.
Step 1. Boot in safe mode and press ESC key when you see on bottom line of display: "Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys". This will abort loading of SPTD layer.
Step 2. Find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Services\sptd" registry key in REGEDIT and set DWORD Start value to 4 (i.e. disabled).
Step 3. Reboot again in normal mode and check if your issue is solved.
To reenable SPTD restore the DWORD Start value back to '0' and reboot your computer.Click to expand...

Easy.

Hi, i am new to this. I am having this problem with a IE popup this few days.

What happen is, whenever I restart my cpu, before I can click on anything else, these IE popups will appear. A popup appear. Window title is "* * * *** System Warning! Microsoft Internet Explorer" and "Warning: PC Update - Microsoft Internet Explorer". I can leave my cpu on and it will keep popping up. Can get over 20 of the same windows though I am not browsing (in fact, not working with my cpu at all)

Don't know if this is created by the same problem.. that is, when I am bhrowsing with IE, I get redirected to http://www.yupsearch.com/search.php very often.

I have got Ad-aware6 installed on my cpu, but this time round, it is not working to remove my problems completely. Tried installing MSN toolbar hoping this will block popup... but it will not work after cpu restarts.

Please advise on how I can remove the popups and the redirection problem...

Thanks and regards.

When I click on a file on my desktop say, and I wish to send to "mail recipient" --- it defaults to Outlook. Is it possible to change it to GMAIL? Gmail obviously isn't on the list of programs, since it's not a program...but, surely there has to be a way??? I've been googling like crazy, but, all I see is adding google talk or gmail notifier, which I had already, but, those don't change anything except for clicking on email links on websites.

I keep getting a message telling me that "to free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages." It pops up every time I attempt to close OE. I've clicked to start the compacting process several times, but invariably I get a message telling me: "The folder is currently in use by Outlook Express or by another application." At that point I click Cancel to close it out. In other words, I cannot get the compacting process to run its course.

Unfortunately, this sequence of events keeps happening again and again, and I don't know how to stop it. I would greatly appreciate hearing from someone who might have an answer to this problem. Thank you.

I'm pretty new at posting so I'm not sure of the best way to do this. When I start to log on to the net, whether using IE or Firefox an error message having to do with "Google" occurs immediately. (I usually use my Google bar to go directly to the site I want.) I've taken a print screen so that you can see that message directly but don't know how I should get it to you. (I'm used to emailing such things --) As I proceed I get another message which I have also copied. This one starts with the words "Assertion Failed." If I continue I usually get a "script error" message, a copy of which I do not have at this time. If I tell the message that I will proceed with going to my chosen web site, the last several times the site has come up in multiplicity, most recently it appeared 16 times, one right after another, totally out of my control, (causing I believe Foxfire to crash), and then just a bit ago, using IE, the site I logged on to came up 7 times. I really have no idea what to do about this so I'm hoping that you can help me once again.

Operating sysyem is Windows XP Home SP2--Outlook Express 6--Internet Explorer 6

My problem exists when I want to "send a page" to someone from a web-site I am viewing. The format and layout of the article I am sending does not appearon the screen exactly as the original I am viewing, but instead the send page is convuluted (larger text, areas of the original page overlayed over the text, everything oversize and out of position etc.) so it is not possible for the receiver of the article to read the initial paragraph or two of the article.

In addition, the "send a page" does not allow me to make comments and I cannot clean off or remove any script overlays. I have been through all the view and tools etc. on both IE and Outlook Express and nothing clears up the problem.

This occured after I recently had to activate ActiveX to get streaming video for the NCAA basketball web-site! I have returned the IE security to the default settings but that hasn't changed my e-mail problem?!

Appreciate any suggestions. Tom

This post may be an exercise in futility however, I will try anyway.
Before preparing this post I conducted a search on this forum about making Gmail the default "send to" email. I saw numerous posts about installing a Gmail notifier which I tried with no successful results plus an add on was installed that changed my home page etc. I had to perform a system restore because I could not delete it.

For several years I used Windows Live Mail supplied by my ISP and then they changed to a different email web bases email program. When I used Windows Live Mail and clicked the "send to" link, Windows Live Mail would open but when my ISP changed email programs, of course that no longer worked. Eventually I closed my Hotmail account because it was hacked and opened a Gmail account. Somewhere in my system I was able to designate Gmail as the program to open when I clicked on the mail icon or the "send to" link. Now for some reason when I click on the mail tab in IE10 or on the "send to" link, Outlook wants to open however my computer is not configured to use Outlook and I don't want to use it.

All of the responses I viewed while conducting a search on this subject indicated that it was impossible or I could configure Outlook to open in GMail. (if I phrased that properly) Many other individuals have the same problem as I but there has to be a way other than installing another program or configuring Outlook. Maybe an answer has surfaced since... Read more

A:Solved: Make GMail the default "send to"

Windows has not been designed to allow any "internet" type of email to be the default. It must be a program that is installed on the local machine.

Windows Live Mail can be installed on the local machine and then the Gmail account can be set up within WLM.

This problem started out on one of the machines in my office, now it's happening on several of them.

Machine config:
- Outlook 2007
- POP account
- antivirus regularly running/updating/scanning

Symptoms:
- User is running outlook like normal, then all the sudden Outlook gets stuck "Preparing to send / receive". Clicking the Send/Receive button does nothing, and it just sits there forever, apparently never actually making contact with the servers or doing anything at all.

My fix:
- I have to close down Outlook, but that's not enough.
- Open task manager, even though Outlook is closed, there is still an instance of it running on the machine.
- Manually close that extra instance, restart Outlook.

Then all the sudden it works, it sends and receives just fine. I thought the first user may have had a virus, but I've scanned ALL the machines in our office with Symantec Antivirus and nothing came up.

Also, this doesn't appear to ever happen on the two machines in the office who are running IMAP accounts.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

i ran into problems in using the right-click context menu in explorer.

because english isn't my first language it's nearly impossible to explain the fault in words, so i try to show it in screenshots.

1.) if using the unchanged registry i have no "standard-actions" (like open, edit,...) in my context menu.

the bold (standard) action displayed is "Filemenu Tools", although a doubleclick opens the program...
2.) if editing the reg-key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Send To from {7BA4C740-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837} to -{7BA4C740-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837}, thus disabling it the context menu shows the correct "standard-actions" but sendto is missing (of course).

i already tried to go back to a former state (the eldest available one),

After several unsuccessful conversations with Comcast techs a friend of mine really needs help and I am totally at a loss as to how to help her. She keeps receiving the following error message and has know idea what it means and whether she may be losing some messages. The error message reads as follows: "Message rules did not forward or reply to 1 message because the message would have been sent to one of your accnts. Accnt. mail.comcast.net Server mail.comcast.net"

She has only the one email account under a single name, is running XP and uses OE almost exclusively for her email.

All help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't use Outlook so I am unable to figure this one out.

My son uses Outlook 2010 and is having to go to some extra steps every time he wants to send a mail. Here's what is happening:
He composes or replies to a mail and clicks "Send".
It goes to Out Box and is not sent.
It sits in the outbox indefinitely, even for days as other mail is collected automatically every two minutes. He says he has Outlook 2010 configured to send on receive/check; but, it does not send.
In order to send that mail, he must open the Out Box and then open that mail (that is just sitting there unsent) and click "Send" again and then and only then does it get sent -- from Out Box.
This happens with all mail he sends.

Suggestions?

i got a warning box today telling me "your computer has been infected by trojan" it then says for you to click ok to download a spyware remover. it looks to be a bug in itself. if u get it,DO NOT click ok!!! just X out of it and run ur spyware or just download the newest update for ur computer make and model. mine happened to be HP. as soon as i downloaded the HP update i didnt get the lil "trojan" box again. also, i ONLY got it when i had to sign into msn to check my mail and IE popped up and then the problems began. all fixed now. just passing on the info in case anyone else has this problem

Microsoft Updater says I have a critical update (KB2286198) to install but it fails and gives the message: "WindowsUpdate_80246007" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".

I've tried a couple of things that MS Support suggests but they don't work and don't seem to really apply to this particular error message. Searching for the error code 80246007 hasn't yielded anything yet that works.

Any ideas?

I am not sure what happened but previously one of the selections when you right clicked on a file and then selected "send to" was mail reciptent, or something to that affect, however that choice has disappeared for some reason. Does anyone know how to get this back?

If this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it to the correct forum.

Thank you

A:Solved: Can't "send to" e-mail

It depends on the file, but most have this option, yes.

What are you trying to send?

What options do you have?

When I right click on a file the "send to" button is missing, There is a "Send to" folder in the C:\Documents and Settings\dormouse folder which seems to contain all the options that a "send to" button would offer - Desktop (create shortcut), etc. This is a recent (last few hours) xp pro sp3 installation
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated

A:Solved: No "Send to" button

Go to this site http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm click on "S" and go down to "Send To - Add to Context Menu (Right Click)."

Add SendTo the right click. Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Send To]

Create a new String value, or modify the existing value, called "(Default)" and set it to this value data:
