This problem concerns my father's laptop which runs on Windows XP Home SP3 and has Microsoft Outlook 2007 installed on it. I think my father updated from Outlook 2003 to 2007, and from the very start (since he has been using 2007), he has been getting the following message on opening the program:
"There was a problem reading one or more of your reminders. Some of the reminders may not appear."
My father tried deleting all the reminders, then he tried using a program feature called clean switch or something, and nothing has worked.
Does anyone know what's going on and what can be done to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for your time and answer(s).

Hello all,

My Outlook .pst file is corrupted after a power failure. Currently, the file is 0kb and scanpst.exe doesn't seem to be working. I do have a backup but it only covers last week and before, and I've received important emails just this week.

Is there any way to recover my emails? One thing I've noticed is that I can "find" all those emails when I search by using Windows 7 Search, they all show up on search but I can't open/copy/preview them.

Thanks in advance.

A:Microsoft Outlook 2007 - Corrupted .pst file problem

Do a search for any other PST files on your computer. Open Outlook and go to File > Data File Management and double click the Outlook.pst entry. Where it says filename copy the path with the exception of the Outlook.pst portion and paste it into the search or file open box. Are there any other PST files in there?

Hi, I am experiencing a problem when setting up Microsoft Outlook 2007 to connect with an exchange email account. I have created a new exchange account online and upon opening Outlook I am prompted to create a new user. I have done so, and now it asks me to enter my details, which I have done, but it fails to find my account encrypted or unencrypted and so asks me if I wish to set it up manually. So I have gone into this and found the exact information I need, e.g. the exchange server name and user name. These are 100% right, but yet when I click on the ‘check name’ box it gives me the following message:
‘The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.’ It then lets me go no further. On the Internet fine, and I’ve been trying to fix it for days.
It is not my address because I’ve tried to set up other new users and encountered the same problem with their addresses.
Please help if you can, it's getting quite urgent to fix it.
Thanks, Rob

I load Outlook 2007 and it opens correctly. However, as soon as I click on a task, or a calendar appointment or anything it tells me that an error has occurred and Outlook needs to close down. I have already done several things to fix this problem. I reinstalled Outlook from the CD and that didn't fix the problem. I then deleted my outlook data file (pst) and restored an earlier pst and that didn't fix it. I even restored Windows XP to an earlier data point. When I am able to open Outlook in safe mode it works for a while but then it also needs to shut down. Any suggestions?

My microsoft outlook 2007 is not opening once you close it out. In order to get it to open you have to restart windows, or you have to go into task manager and click one OUTLOOK.exe and end that task.

Can anyone give me suggestions on how to get outlook to close completely?

I have multiple email profiles I use for work and personal. My Dell Inspiron Laptop running Vista has problems quitting Outlook. Very often when I quit Outlook it closes but the Windows Task Manager still shows it is running (even after waiting 10 seconds). I then "end process" from the task manager and sometimes it opens the previous profile and doesn't give me the option to choose which profile I want to use.

My old desktop running XP didn't have this problem. I also had problems with the Business Contact Manager and followed directions to disable in Regsys.

Ideas to fix?

When I sent a message and when I was using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, I had an option that enabled me to add a photo following or preceding my text. This option enabled me to put a photo in the text area and place text under or above the photo explaining the photo. I am now running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 using Windows Home Premium 64 bit and I cannot find this option. If this is no longer an option, how can I place a photo in the text area and then follow with text explaining the photo? If this is not possible, I guess this new version is a downgrade!
Thanks in advance and I will appreciate an answer.

I just upgraded from earlier versions of word and powerpoint to Office 2007 Professional, and I am having a problem with Word. I am operating with XP Pro SP3.

When I go to close the program, if I use the normal X in the upper right corner, nothing happens and Word hangs. I have to use the task manager to close the program. However, if I use the close button on the menu at the left hand end, the program closes normally. Also, if I use the X for closing the document, the entire program closes.

Powerpoint, excell, and all the other programs except word do not have any problems closing with the close X in the upper right corner.

I guess I am doing something really stupid here, since this is a major upgrade and a lot of changes. Anyone got any idea if I am doing something wrong?

Thanks!

David

Hello,

I've been trying to figure out a way to send all spam into the "Junk E-mail" folder and automatically add the senders of the spam to the blocked list. I got tired of individually blocking domains and senders.

Creating a macro to send the spam into the Junk E-mail folder wasn't a problem.

The issue that I am having is with adding the senders to the blocked list.

I've done some digging around, and it seems that I would have to decode an undocumented binary to get a start on this. Can anyone verify if this is true? If this is indeed true, then it appears that what I'm trying to do is simply not possible. If my inference is wrong, can someone please help me out? Even a recommendation to a 3rd party add-on would be great.

If what I said above isn't an option, is there a way to block multiple IP addresses of the senders using a macro? Although, the IP addresses are most likely dynamic...Anyways, any input on this option would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,
Phil

Hi all,

I use Microsoft Outlook 2007. When receiving emails I have no problems with their incoming size i.e. 2mb, 6mb, 10mb etc. However whenever I send an email with an attachment that is 1mb or larger it appears to be taking a very long time to send to the point I usually cancel the send. However unbeknown to me the person to whom I have been trying to send the email to has in fact received some 30, 40 or 50 copies of the email yet it sits in my outbox as if it has not been sent at all.

Totally confused with this one.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

My users are on Outlook 2007 and we connect to an exchange server 2007. We recently migrated from Exchange Server 2003 to 2007. The problem we are having is that previously shared calendars are suddenly becoming unavailable. The message that pops up is:

'The set of folders cannot be opened.'

A more detailed message suggests the following:

'This error usually occurs if the OST or PST file you are using is:
> Unavailable
> Protected with file permissions.
> On a share on a server and the network is down.
> Corrupt

To correct this problem, store the OST or PST file on the local computer.

You may also want to run the scanost.exe and scanpst.exe tools to verify file integrity.'

I have tried scanning them and they are fine. When I look at the permissions they are gone. When the user re-shares the calendar it is ok again but often looses the permission after a re-boot (but not always).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2007, but still, when I click on it, it will come up, then disappear and leave the message:
Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file C:\Users\Deserie\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook and all meal-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more Information about the Inbo repair tool, see Help.

I don't know how to get to help or scanpst.exe because outlook disappears too quickly to do anything.

Anyone have a solution?

So i have a laptop running outlook 2007 and i seem to be running into many problems with general software issues along with IMAP issues.
Right now i am trying to move all of the folders in my archive to IMAP folder by folder... (IF anyone knows an easier method to do this i would love to know ) Takes forever but I will not blame the program for that. It was working out decently at first now i keep getting spammed with an error "Failed to update headers"
The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server
protocol : imap
server: imap.secureserver.net
port: 143
But in general outlook just seems to always run very slow. even on my desktop which is a lot faster then the laptop

Two more problems i just ran into while moving folders:
1. error telling me that the folder is a duplicate and can not move (When there is no other folder with the same name or email's) "CAnnot move items. The server responded: Database failure occurred, possible duplicate folder"
2. telling me the folder does not exist.

Couple of possible fixes for you.

1) Under Control Panel/Mail/E-mail Accounts make sure that your email accounts are listed there and being saved to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsfot\Outlook\Outlook.pst
2) Repair Office with the install disk.
3) Reinstall Office.

Also if you have any sidebar gadgets related to Outlook you might want to remove them. See if any of those options work

However, when there are no Email messages incoming, then my Computer is working perfectly fine.
But it's just when you receive a new msg that the computer get stuck for a few seconds and then

Could someone highlight what could be the problem causing this to get stuck on receiving new

Just as you are able to use different browsers, you are also able to use different email clients, although only one of these can be the default. As I only have IE, I cannot say whether or not you can have a different default client for each browser. I would also check that you can access the web interface version for you emails just in case you have problems with either or both email clients.

I am trying to configure my Outlook 2007 Exchange account on the Windows 7 machine. I also deleted the Exchange account on the Vista machine to test.

I followed the exact same procedure to setup my account on both the Vista machine and the 7 machine. On Vista, the setup works perfectly and begins downloading my emails. However, on the Windows 7 machine, I am continually stuck at this screen:

I enter my User Name and password, but it just takes me back to this screen repeatedly. On Vista, it takes me on in to my mail.

Any advice?

A:Microsoft Exchange / Outlook 2007 via VPN

Turns out this was not a Windows or Outlook related error. I did not know that one of my guys switched my router out with one that does not support IPSec. I just bashed him on the head and got them both working properly.

Hello everyone!

I am looking for either a native feature in Microsoft Outlook 2007 or perhaps a third party add-on/application that would be able to track the number of sent and received emails. I would prefer that this add-on/application run on the client's machine instead of on a the network. This way, it will track that users usage. I have done some minor research but have not been able to find anything useful in regards to my issue.

We do not utilize an on-site exchange server but instead use hosted exchange through Microsoft. After contacting them, I was informed that no such reporting on their side exists, at least for the clients use.

I would appreciate any help that this community may render!

Thank you,
Toshalot

Hi, am wondering if any one can help me with this problem. Actually, there are 2 problems I need help with.

I am using Vista with office 2007. When the PC has been left on for a while, my email (outlook) won't open. Well, when I say it won't open, I mean it will open and load up the main template, but will disapear within about a second and close. When I place my curser on the icon in my task bar, that also disapears. This will happen until I re-boot the PC, and then it will work fine again.

Any ideas?

Also, I'm getting 4 random left mouse clicks every 30 seconds. Although these mouse clicks are not opening any thing, I'm getting th sound, plus it stops any typing that I may be doing. I'm using a logitech cordless mouse. I would tell you which model but that has rubbed off through the amount of browsing that I do, lol.

A:Microsoft Office 2007 Outlook

For Outlook, it is possible something is hanging - antivirus or anti-spam addin, or a module of the program itself, etc. I would first suggest checking your Task List (CTR+ALT+DEL) for additional instances of Outlook which would indicate the program is not closing properly.

You can try repairing your installation of Office, using the install CD. If that does not work, you can try disconnecting your computer from the Internet, and uninstalling both Office and your antivirus software. Reinstall Office first, then your antivirus. See if that fixes the issue.

You'll need the installation CD/DVD to install on another machine and you'll need a license that can be used. All emails, contacts, etc is saved to PST files. If you don't know the location, search the boot volume for *.pst and you should find them.

Hi, I did performed an upgrade from Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2007. After the upgrade process in his Outlook, the user got all his mails and contacts, etc. But a strange thing happens, that is he is able to receive the mails only from his branch(internally). He is not able to receive the mails from another branch which is just a few blocks away. Both the branches are in same domain. The operating system is Windows Xp Service Pack2. Earlier it was working fine with office 2003. I performed an uninstall and did the reinstall again for office 2007 and also recreated his outlook profile. still the same problem persists. Help me with this.

After hitting the close button on Microsoft Outlook 2007 on my Win XP I keep getting the error message:

"Network Connections. Cannot load dialog. Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection. 0 of 2 tasks have completed successfully".

Cannot send or receive emails to this user account.

This error message doesn't happen on main user account only on one other user account. This has only started to happen since we had a major blackout and all computers went down on the network. This user account was open at the time of the blackout.

Have checked Internet Properties > Connections > Never dial a connection is checked as we have a Wireless Broadband Modem.

Any suggestions on how to fix problem would be greatly appreciated.

I recently removed admin rights from our end user computers (XP Pro-32bit). Everything works great using the "run as" option, except for Outlook 2007. That option doesn't seem to be available for Outlook. Whenever a user launches, they receive an error message stating "Cannot Start Microsoft Office Outlook." The only way to get Outlook to launch is to return local admin rights. All other Office products work.
We are using an Exchange server, though it is in another office, and I do not have access to it. The end users have full control access to C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Office and C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. I also granted them access to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office.
Is there anything else I need to give them access to? Any other ideas? I completed the installation of the software with admin rights, and am only now taking them away. I thought maybe there was an Active Directory issue here (since I inherited our current PDC and the associated AD accounts), but it's happening on all new users too.
Can't find anything helpful about this on Google...
Thanks!

Hi Friends,

I need your help this time for Microsoft Outlook 2007 Email. Yes, it was working fine
for sometime, but now I find that when receiving incoming mail, that the system hangs
for about 5-10 seconds and no work could be done.

Infact, I tried to check this with Microsoft Support on the web site and found that they
have stated, that microsoft 2007 support for data files with .pst with max of 4 GB.
However, when I checked with my data file, I have got around 6.41 GB of data. Am
not sure whether this is causing for the hanging of the system at the time of receiving
msg. Maybe, someone else who has faced this similiar problem might be able to h/light
or shed some light to this. Give below the site from where I got the details.

" You may experience performance problems when you are working with items in a large .pst file or in a large .ost file in Outlook 2007

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 momentarily stops responding during typical operations. This includes when you read e-mail messages, move e-mail messages, or delete e-mail messages.

These symptoms are most noticeable during mail delivery or during synchronization. These symptoms become more pronounced as store size increases. They are more likely to occur when the size of the .pst file or the size of the .ost file approaches 2 gigabytes (GB). Additionally, they are more pronounced in a very large .pst file or in a very large .ost file that is 4 GB or larger.

Hi all.

I have recently moved my email client from Windows Live Mail to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 email client.

The transition was smooth and all my folders moved across smoothly. Well almost, and there lays my question.

Whenever I now open an incoming email, no problems there.

However whenever I open an email that came across from WLM in a folder, Outlook displays an information box prior to that email opening.

This info box is entitled "Microsoft Office Outlook", and the message that it contains is as follows:

"The custom form cannot be opened. Outlook will use an Outlook form instead. The object could not be found" (and an OK button).

I click OK button and the email now opens up for me to read. I can close the email and if I try opening it up again, I get the same info box again.

While this does not present any great problem, it is very annoying having this thing pop up every time I try to open the email, especially when I am looking for a specific email.

Can anyone please shed some light on this problem and how I may be able to eliminate this critter?

Regards

Dear Experts

Today I was fixing networking issue for one of my client (router and a parallel HP printer).

He is using a desktop with windows XP professional SP3

During my work on his computer I used two softwares which are CClenaer (tune up his computer browser ) and Kyocera Printer Driver Deleter to remove the driver for the HP printer (it was not working properly)

When I finished my work Before I left his office he was able to download a file from his outlook (used as mail client for his ISP) 2007 (means it was working), to test the printer if it prints or not.

I chose an option : “Install windows updates and shutdown” and I left his office then I received a call from him telling me that his outlook is not finding a file :

Code:

C:\Documents and Settings\omrion\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\tets.pst

When I drove back to his office and checked the file “test.pst” I could not find such a file in the location above(i.e C:\Documents and Settings\omrion\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) !!!!!!

For sure I had not touched his outlook when I was working the first time.

I felt embarrassed he might have thought that I had damage his outlook.

I checked the Control Panel --> Mail --> Data Files I found those 3 profiles :

Code:

Name Path
------- ---------
Omrion’s email Outlook.pst in C:\emailfile
Personal Folders Outlook.pst in C:\omrion\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft

A:All of a sudden Microsoft outlook 2007 lost its profile

Make it so the folder options on his drives are set to show hidden files and folders and uncheck hide protected operating system files. This has happened before on other computers in my office and we normally fix it by changing the password. This time I've changed the passwords, tried everything listed here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684 and it still wont save. I am prompted for the password every time I try to run a send/receive or when any email comes in or out. Now I am getting incoming emails but cant send, it just keeps popping back up. Any thoughts? I'm going nuts here!!

Thanks

Can someone help with this issue? I have an issue with the communication of Outlook 2007 with our Exchange Server on various computers. I have computers with Vista Business with an ASUS P5GC-MX/1333,- motherboard - micro ATX - i945GC, using on-board networking.
The other computer has Windows 7 with an Intel Desktop Board DG41RQ, using on-board networking.
Most of the computer with Vista Business communicates with the Exchange Server like a snap, but there are other along with the system that have Windows 7 that are very slow opening Outlook and linger for a long time when opening PDF attachments, especially when they are bigger files.
These are fairly new to new computers and i’ve tried everything that I could think of:
· Compare and update Windows/Service Packs

A:Solved: Microsoft Exchange/ Outlook 2007 communication

I solved it myself. In Outlook, go to Tools, Options, Email Settings, View/Change current settings, Exchange Server setting, at the bottom click on More Settings, enable Cached Exchange Mode.

This will install your Outlook database locally (at least your inbox), which gives you the ability to access mail and attachments faster.
