Microsoft Outlook 2010 defaul email/Outlook Express default for other

Q: Microsoft Outlook 2010 defaul email/Outlook Express default for other

Yes, I just recently installed Microsoft Office 2010 Pro onto my computer. I have run into a bit of a problem. I wanna make Microsoft Outlook 2010 the default email client for my user side and I wanna leave Outlook Express as default for another user on my computer. I cannot seem to figure out how to do this because once you pick a default email program on one user desktop it also makes it the default for other users on the computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: Microsoft Outlook 2010 defaul email/Outlook Express default for other

Sorry, that can't be done because the default email application is "global" (All Users).

How do I make Microsoft Outlook the default email program? I make the change in IE version 5, but when I reboot the system (Win 98), Outlook Express is once again selected as the default email program.

I read in a previous post about using the following sequence for making Outlook Express the default. Is there anything similar for Microsoft Outlook? :
To make Outlook Express your default e-mail client:
Close OE, click Start/Run and enter this command line, complete with quotes, spaces and the /reg switch:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

Thanks very much,

Thank you for having this service available.

I had installed Microsoft office upgrade to 2007 and also updated to microsoft outlook and lost function of respond on the email client. I was into windows live and sending a message, the client asked to have my email changed to outlook express which i agreed to. So now my email client it express but lost all the emails that were on the Microsoft outlook with all the addresses.

Anyway that I can retrieve my address book from Microsoft outlook through maintenance option

I had tried to save the address book yesterday but the copy paste function was greyed out. The default change was kind of spontaneous. Any help available for this. I was using the MS outlook due to work online. Using windows XP professional

Thank you and Happy New year to everybody!

A:changing default to outlook express from microsoft outlook

Use the "Import" feature of Outlook Express. if you choose to import "All" folders, it will include all messages and contacts data. or you can choose to import only contacts and not messages.

Obviously, it requires that both Outlook & Outlook Express are currently installed on the same PC.
Go here for a short tutorial:

However, it must be pointed out that, for backup purposes, it's much easier to back up data in Outlook than is the case with Outlook Express.

Hello again kapilkaaiser,
I think you need to import the required info into Outlook 2007 -

In Outlook 2007, click File > Import and Export > Make the appropriate choices
> & hopefully the Import / Export Wizard will oblige.

I cant seem to find a fix for this. Hope you can help. I have a friend that I was helping over the phone installed Office XP on thier Windows XP SP2 machine. They had Office 97 and was having trouble with Outlook Express 6 spell check. I found a posting that said Office 97 didn't like XP SP2. So I had them uninstall Office 97 then install Office XP.
They normally use Outlook express 6 as their default email account. When we went to Internet Prop. to change Email default to Outlook Express there is no drop down. I had them do SP3 for Office XP but still didn't help. Trust me I have tried to switch them to Outlook but they won't do it. They are use to Outlook Express and some old dogs you just can't teach new tricks.
Does anyone know of a fix.

A:Outlook Express 6 as the default email

They are running windows XP, do you know how they have the PC set up? do they have it setup for users or just a single person???? Otherwise, if I am understanding you correctly you are tyying to set the default mail in IE. You should just be able to go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Programs tab, and it should be listed there....

I have a Win2K machine with Office 2003 installed on it. The problem I am having is that I want to use Outlook Express as my default email handler instead of Outlook. I have set it as the default (although I had to use a run command to set it), but when I try to send an email it fails to use OExpress. Instead, a box comes up trying to set up a MS Exchange profile from Outlook.

I removed Office 2003 completely trying to get Outlook Express to become the default for other programs. I checked IE (IE6, completely updated btw) program settings and Outlook Express is listed as the default, but other programs still want to set up an Exchange profile.

I had Office '97 installed, but I removed that install before putting on '03. I usually hit cancel when it tried to set up a profile, but when I hit OK a message appeared that I was missing WMSUI32.dll

Please help.

I have been working with a client for the past couple of days on a very strange issue with Outlook Express. When she opens Outlook Express it asks if she wants to set it as the default email problem. She clicks the check box for yes and gets into Outlook normally. When she closes out and gets back in, it asks her again.

I had her go into Internet Properties and click the Programs tab and Outlook Express is missing from the drop down menu for Email.

-I have verified that she does NOT have Netscape installed.
-She is using XP SP2.
-She did install Mozilla but that was after the problem started so it should not be related.
-IE is selected as default browser
-Reset all web settings to default
-She has reinstalled IE already
-Had her run SFC /scannow which took about 30 minutes to complete. That usually means it is fixing something but it didnt help
-Tried modifying the registry to reset IE and Outlook Express, no go
-I had her check for spyware, it did find some and she removed it but it did not help.

Im all out of ideas. Please help

Silly question. I had to reset my Google Chrome due to a malware check.

When I click on a "send email" link in Chrome, a new email pops up in my Gmail browser. However, I would like it to open a new email in MS Outlook 2010.

There must be a "set MS Outlook 2010" as default when clicking on email links in Chrome, but I can't seem to find it. I have already made Outlook the default program for email, but that didn't take care of the issue.

Thank you so much.

I went into my Sent folder on Outlook Express and all but the past two days Sent email was gone!

My ISP does not cleanse email so I suspect that when I clicked OK when the message "To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact mesages. This may take a few minutes" came on the screen it compressed imy Sent email and put it somewhere I can't find. All my deleted messages and inbox messages were untouched.

I keep my Sent mail because I sometimes need to go back and refer to a message I sent and I don't want to keep hard copy of every email.

Any ideas about what could have happened?

I have what I hope is a temporary need to change my default "from" email address.

I have changed it from say aaa to bbb using tools/email/change/emailaddress and also rest the "more settings/reply email facility so replies go to my new email address too
I have set the bbb as my default email account [using tools/email/set as default]

Here is the problem;

when I create "new" emails it correctly uses the new "bbb" email address as my from address.

All seems to be OK.

BUT IF I receive a reply to this email that I sent [that was sent out with my bbb email address] and THEN I try to REPLY to it - the reply email now shows at the top "this email will be sent via aaa" - rather than the bbb I want it too!].

I hope I have explained it clearly - and you can see the frustration of the outloook programme.

It is as though outlook simply refuses to recognise the new default email account I have set up!

Frustrating to say the least - any technical help appreciated.

By any chance do the bbb e-mail account settings in Outlook show your aaa address as a "Reply to" address? The entry can be found in "More settings ... -> General Tab" when the bbb account is open for editing.

I don't have any other suggestions other than that.

Just going through the frustrating task of switching to new Win7 machines from old XP machines.
I have several thousand important (business) e-mails on my old XP machine under Outlook Express 6.  Six different accounts, each with their own inbox.  Four are POP3, 2 are IMAP.  The new machine has Office 2010 with Outlook, and I have set up all 6 accounts and they are sending and receiving fine.
I have read several articles on how to move (or export/import) all my old e-mails into Outlook, but they all seem to be written as if I have both Outlook Express and Outlook on both machines - not the case.  Some say to install Outlook temporarily on the old machine and make the conversion there - is this really necessary?  Where would I get just Outlook 2010?  Download a trial version?
The articles all seem to make reference to a PST file.  I have located the store files on the Outlook Express (old) machine, and they are all in a .dbx format.  Additionally, there are literally dozens of these dbx files, many for old folders that I no longer have on the old machine, even some old e-mail accounts that have been closed for years..
Can someone walk me though how to move (export/import) my e-mails from my old XP machine, with Outlook Express only, onto my new machine, with Outlook 2010 only?  Can I migrate individual folders, or do I have to move everything (all 6 accounts plus the sent items folder) at ... Read more

We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and our clients have Office 2010. Our Outlook profiles are created automatically by using Group Policy to set a registry key which points to a PRF file with all the Outlook settings. Lately, many of our users are reporting that their emails are getting stuck in the Outbox. If you look at their Outlook profile, they have two Exchange accounts listed. You cannot delete either of them; it gives a message that this is the default email account.
The immediate solution is to recreate the user's Outlook profile. This allows the stuck email to send. The real issue is that this keeps occurring. Recreating the Outlook profile sometimes fixes the problem for a long time, months maybe. But other times the problem occurs the next day. This is happening with users who have established Outlook profiles as well as new users logging into their PCs for the first time. I've attached the code from our PRF. Any help is appreciated, as we have around 400 active users and we're constantly chasing after this issue.

A:Outlook 2010 Email Stuck in Outbox; Corrupt Outlook Profile

Couple steps you may apply...
1. Repair the offline file with a Microsoft utility called SCANOST.exe. I’ve seen this file reside in a number of different locations, mainly within Program Files. It might be best to search for it with Windows or Google Desktop. SCANPST.exe will also work, though you’ll have to go digging for your outlook.ost, which should be near c:\Documents and Settings\ %profile%\ Local Settings\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ Outlook\ outlook.ost. If your file is significant in size, you’ll save a lot of time with the repair operation by not creating a backup. Because if the repair finishes successfully and Outlook still bombs, you’ll need to.
2. Shutdown Outlook completely, including any runaway outlook.exe processes in the task manager. Open Mail in the Control Panel and before you delete your profile completely, write down the server settings! There’s no need to worry about backing up your mail as it’s stored on the Exchange server. (Essentially, you’re deleting that outlook.ost when you drop your mail profile.) Now, start Outlook and it will create a new profile, where you’ll configure the server with the information you wrote down previously.
If steps above don’t work or you need to get more variants of .pst restoration, visit... - multi functional user comm... Read more

gang I found an old post here that describes my situation, something I caused but don't know how to undo.
The system in question has Windows XP Professional, and MS Office 2000 Professional, the main reason for which is OUTLOOK. When Outlook cranks up it triggers an error message which is in my subject line:
"Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater....". The system of course also has OE6 on it which we don't use, but it does work etc.

The issue is me: I use autoruns to shut off everything non-mandatory, and, as another thread-poster identified, there is something in the list of goods that I have disabled that OE is dependent on, if I understand the old thread properly. The problem is that the poster [OP] in that thread said he found the key, but he didn't NAME THE ENTRIES
Thus, I dunno which ones he reversed that made the issue go away.

if anyone knows, pls let me know, so I can fix my goof.

Recently I have noticed my Dell Vostro laptop has been very slow in booting to a point where I can actually do something with any speed.

I had been reading various forums regarding the problem and the general consensus was that removing unnecessary start-up programs would assist. This I did, and included in it was the removal of Outlook Express as a start-up as I never use it.

I was rather startled to find that the next time I started up Outlook I get the message indicated in the title. When acknowledging the message, Outlook still opens and functions correctly as far as I can see, but this message always coming up is getting a little tedious.

Why would a company require the lesser of two programs to be loaded and started in order that their more powerful program should work? Amazing thought processes at MS.

I have seen answers for this question elsewhere and I have tried their solutions but to no avail. That includes setting IsInstalled in registry key 881dd1c5-3dcf-431b-b061-f3f88e8be88a to a Dword value of 1.

What I have found, is the key {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} and {7790769C-0471-11d2-AF11-00C04FA35D02} in registry directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\AutorunsDisabled. As the first refers to Outlook Express 6 and the other to Address Book 6 I assume that this may have something to do with my problem.

My friend just had her computer reformatted after a bad virus contamination. It is still running EXTREMELY slow but has at least been running correctly. She is running XP

Yesterday I installed Microsoft Office 2003 for her with Microsoft Outlook and now her email doesn't seem to be working. She uses Outlook Express as her mail default rather than Office Outlook but keeps getting the error message that it can't find the POP3.

I also installed AVG for her and have shut off the email plugin to see if that is part of the problem.

The thing is, it happened yesterday right after I installed these programs for her but then a minute later her email worked just fine. Now she just restarted her computer and the mail won't work again.

Is there something wrong with her computer or is it at the server?

I hope this all makes sense.

It is possible and you can either export from the File menu in Outlook or import the same way using OE. However, if you already have problems, it may be that your data file is too big for Outlook to handle. Check this by opening My Computer and from the Tools menu, select Folder Options then View. Tick to "Show hidden files an dfolders" and untick "Hide protected system file and folders". Click Apply, accept the warning and OK your way out.

Next, navigate to Documents and Settings>{yourusername}Local Settings>Application Data>Microsoft>Outlook and if your Outlook Data File (type .pst) is larger than 2Gb, go back into Outlook and delete anything you can to trim it down.

Outlook Express will also suffer an overstuffed data file but if you can't do without your historic e-mails, Mozilla Thunderbird can handle up to 4Gb.

Hiya Guys - hope the title makes sense.

I have 1 pc and 3 users. 2 users want to use MSOutlook as their email client, the other wants to use O.Express.

Problem - how can I get OE to be the default email client for the other member.

If he sends email from new mail in the client, either MSO or OE, the recipient gets it no problem.
If he sends it from a web link to email, it opens MSO by default and it is returned a short while later - delivery failed.

I have tried changing his email client via IE browser options to default to OE but it doesn't hold. I.e., Change it to OE, apply, ok. re-open options and it has reverted back to MSO.

I have also tried via Outlook Express to make OE the default client.

Nothing seems to be working.

Any ideas/guesses would be gratefully received.

Good morning everyone,
So the other day something incredibly weird had occurred. I was receiving email normally on my phone, came into work, logged in, and began working on my trouble tickets. I noted that when I went back to Outlook to view an email, the email in particular was gone... and then all were gone. My folders, and emails within them, still remained the same. I attempted to research what on Earth happened but I haven't been able to find anything specific to my issue.
I'm using Outlook 2010 connected to an Exchange 2010 server for work. Outlook was setup as cached exchange mode but that has since been changed. The emails also disappeared from my phone's inbox too... it's as if everything was deleted and Exchange figured that's what it should be and synced everything that way. Deleting my OST didn't resolve or resync anything. I ran the scanpst tool on the ost file which reports 93 errors, but as I read the scanpst tool can't repair an OST and thus doesn't do anything.
Does Outlook have some sort of log that may explain what on Earth happened? I can't find any error messages or any other reasons for what may have happened. My view settings weren't changed, nothing has changed on my end. There is no spyware / malware installed on the PC as far as I can tell. No real issues in the Sync issues folder other than a Forms syncing issue which seems to be related to Exchange needing a patch (but can otherwise be ignored).
I will give you... Read more

A:Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 randomly deleted inbox email?

Are you the only person using that Exchange server who has this issue? Check with the IT department to see if they can recover the emails in your mailbox from the server. It's possible they recently did some maintenance on the mail server that caused this issue. That fact that both Outlook and your phone are having this issue points to this being an Exchange server problem, as Outlook uses autodiscover and MAPI while your phone uses ActiveSync to connect to the server.
Do you have access to your email using Outlook Web Access? If so, log in and see if the emails are there. If not, it's definitely a server issue.
If your mail is still on the server, one thing you could try is re-enabling the cached Exchange mode, saving the change, and then restarting Outlook. The last thing to try is to delete the email account profile and recreate it. Make sure to get the proper settings from IT if you don't already have them -- although since you are using Exchange and autodiscover, that's usually just a case of entering your username and password when you recreate it.

She runs XP Pro and lives 8hrs away from me, so anything I do is via "remote desktop" and she only has "dialup". Talk about a painful process!

When I click on send and recieve it appears that a connection is being made to the server and infact it even tells me how many messages are there to download. It then starts to download (or appears to) and then suddenly stops and posts an error message stating that the connection to the server was interrupted.

I ran a test on my computer by configuring my M/O using here inbound settings and such and was able to download all her mail without a problem. That leads me to believe the problem is not the server but, infact on her machine.

I have checked all the basic things that I can think of but, at the moment "I'm stumped"

A:Microsoft Outlook & Outlook Express

If she's running an antivirus package that does a virtual IP proxie for the incoming/outgoing email AV check, then that might be the source of the problem. Try disabling virus checking for email and see if the behavior changes (This is a known bug in Norton, McAffee, and Avast, but it's rather rare. Usualy only happens for large outgoing attachments).

Also, since this is Dialup, I would check the actual modem to see if there's a problem on the line (or wityh the hardware). To much noise on the line can lead to droped packets and/or decreased bandwidth.

Try using Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 and see if there's still the same problem under that.

To delete or remove an email account from Outlook 2010:

1) First click the ?File? tab.
2) Then click the ?Account Settings? button.
3) Click ?Account Settings? here.
4) Highlight the account you want to delete.
5) Then click ?Remove?.
6) Click ?Yes? to confirm.

If you have multiple email accounts configured in Outlook 2010 and if you want set a default email account then you can use Account Settings to specify the default mail account.

1) Click on the File menu ?> Info menu and select Account Settings
2) In the Account Settings window, navigate to Email tab
3) Select the Account which needs to the default email account and click on the Set as Default link.

E.g. if it was sent to [email protected] i would want to reply from [email protected] and not from my default

You would have to have at least one default account.

But you can reply using any account: In a reply window you to click FROM button and choose from which account to reply.

I am starting a new thread. Last week I posted a complexsituation with captures attached of a serious issue with Outlook 2010. Before I started work I created a Acronis TIBimage ? and as I worked ? and degradation developed, tweaking Outlook 2010, Ihad to repeatedly resort to that original image to get back to the originalstarting point/.

I have managed to get Outlook 2010 working except for thisone issue. Please look over the captures attached. It deals with Brent?s emailaccount ? listed in duplicate.

In my experiments I keep ending up with two accounts. InControl Panel/Mail/Email tab is listed the working Brent email account. Thataccount is not marked as Default. Because in Mail/Email Brent account is notmarked as default I have issues. That working Brent account that not marked asDefault I can send and receive.

There are two Brent email accounts. Two exact accounts -with a slight variable. I have in Mail/Emailthis account:[email protected]

In Mail/Data File I have this:

[email protected]
[email protected]

If [email protected] marked as Default I would have no issues with the Brent account.

Because the [email protected] marked as default that creates the problem. And I cannot delete the [email protected] in Mail/Data File. If I could delete the Default [email protected] Iwould then be able to mark [email protected] Default.

I have spent days on this this. Creating restore points,cr... Read more

A:Outlook 2010 Default Account

I rarely use the Control Panel > Mail and profiles when setting up Outlook as POP3 or IMAP. I just leave the profile as the default (Outlook I think.)

For POP3
Install and open Outlook. Continue without email support. It will create a default Outlook.pst in Documents > Outlook Files.
File > Open > Open Outlook Data File and open any and all my transferred .pst
File > Account settings > Data Files and assign the default to whichever I want
Close outlook and reopen with new data file as default.
Right-click the default Outlook file it created and close. Then I delete it.

Now I setup my POP accounts in Account settings email accounts making sure to point to my default pst as I like all mail coming into 1 inbox.

Have not had any issues doing it this way.

I recently purchased a new computer that has Office 2010 installed. I would like to move the contents of my .pts file from my old computer which has Outlook 2007 to my new computer which has Outlook 2010. Before, when I wanted to transfer my .pts file from one computer to another I would just copy the file to a portable hard drive and then transfer the file to the other computer. However, Outlook 2010 is completely different animal. When I go to C:, Users, App Data, etc., new computer, it is completely different from my other computer that had Vista. My question is, how can I transfer my .pts file and/or my address book, calendar, contacts, etc. for my older Windows Vista computer that had Outlook 2007, to my new computer that has Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 installed? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

A:Solved: Moving Outlook Messages and Address Book From Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2010

Hello referee07;

Copy your .pst file from your old computer to the new one or your portable hard drive.

To launch the Outlook 2010 Export/Import wizard, first go to File menu, navigate to Open, and click Import.

In the Import And Export wizard, select Import from another program or file option and hit Next

Under File Type, select Outlook Data File(.pst) and hit Next

Now choose the file to import, select the options, and hit Next

Once done, finally select the folder to import from(if you want to import complete data don’t change any settings) and make sure Include subfolders is checked. You can either import the file to the current folder or choose the folder.

Hope this helps!

I have Office 2010 but never use Outlook or any of its features. For mail I use Windows Live Mail. Having just installed the last routine round of Windows updates I now have a continual message telling me Outlook wants to replace Live Mail as the default program for .eml files.
Via Control Panel I have done all usual things to associate Live Mail as the default and uncheck Outlook, but no joy.
Then Into Outlook and via Tools > Options made sure that the 'Make Outlook Default' option is unchecked. It is.
So how the heck can I shut Outlook up?
Since I never use it for mail or any other purpose can I just disable it and if so how? (Without disabling other Office items such as Word and Excel)

A:Outlook 2010 continually resets as default for .eml

Welcome to 7 Forums. I hope you enjoy it.

I think there is a move by Microsoft to transfer Live Mail to Outlook, but I could be wrong. Perhaps you could consider using Outlook seeing as you have it in your Office suite, which would stop the annoying pop up.
Please note this is only a suggestion. I was using Live Mail before I got my Office suite & I am now using Outlook & I have not had any problems with it, in fact I think I now prefer it.

I have searched on this forum and others and see that other's have had the same issue but there does not seem to be an answer.

I need to set-up MS Outlook 2010.

I want to hook up to my ISP (comcast) with IMAP AND I want to use my existing outlook data file (.pst file) to be associated with the email.

I go through setting up my email profile and if I were to set-up POP3, Outlook allows me to select my existing .pst. But it does not allow this for IMAP. Meanwhile, my ISP says I should use IMAP.

Does anybody have a solution to this?

A:Outlook 2010 Default Data File

You can use the PST file as a secondary file but not for the new IMAP. In Outlook simply go to File then to Open then to Open Outlook Data File.

Hello again urbanspaceman1

You have two options for doing this:

Option 1:
Create a new email type something and go to the "zoom" feature on the top right.
Select the percentage% you want the fonts to be displayed at.

Note: The fonts may not appear large when you are viewing them on the reading pane or double click open the email. For that view you will have to always manually zoom it yourself on the right corner in the bottom but you will be able to see the fonts large when you hit reply after doing the 2 points mentioned above.

Option 2:

Change your DPI settings following this tutorial:

Outlook 2010 will display the the email in whatever font it was typed in, and if it's a HTML mail, in whatever fonts is set by the HTML tags. However is there a way to set a default font the Outlooks displays the messages in, just like you can set the default font in web browsers, regardless of what the developers specified.

The reason for this is because most emails are typed in Times New Roman and MS Mincho which aren't suitable for LCD screens. I want everything to be displayed in Verdana and Meiryo.

Just recently, I reinstalled MS Office 97, and tried to give Outlook a go for handling email. I didn't like it, 97's version of Outlook is too dated and doesn't work as well as Outlook Express. Anyway, ever since, when I click on an email address in my browswer, it tries to bring up Outlook instead of Outlook Express. Of course, it doesn't bring Outlook up all the way, it asks for a profile, etc. etc.

Anyway, I thought this would be easy. I checked in Express's options and clicked the button to make it the default mail handler. It nows says it's the default mail handler. I clicked Apply and OK, closed the program, reopened it, and low and behold, back in the options, it says "Outlook Express is NOT the default mail handler."

When I installed Office 97 Pro, it installed MS Outlook as well.

When i went to internet options and checked the list of available email programs, the 2 listed were PocoMail and MS Outlook. Outlook express was not on the list at all. This was the case with all the user accounts on my computer.

I wanted outlook express to be the default mailer so i set it to do so using the option available in it. However, it did not show up on the list of available email clients and was not set as the default mailer. All the action resulted in was removing the existing default.

A:need to get Outlook off as default email..

You should be able to go straight to the required mail program and just make it the default.

Otherwise, open Outlook:

Tools / Options / Other / General - uncheck 'make Outlook the default program', etc / apply / OK.

You then set the email default handler in the email program which you wish to use.
For example, if you wanted to use Outlook Express, you would open Outlook Express,
select Tools / Options and at the bottom of the box, where it says: 'Default messaging Programs',
you have the option to make the email and news programs your default.

Depends on which mail program you want to use, you generally find the relevant command in 'Tools' or 'Options' or 'preferences'.

Hi there,

I'm using Thunderbird mail and download my mail via IMAP, This has got a great advantage as I can access my emails on my iPhone and iPad.

So I switched my Dad to IMAP too. He is using Outlook 2010 and it works great however the problem is that when moving a mail from the inbox to a folder in Outlook 2010 it takes a bout 5 -7 seconds to move (looks like it communicates with the server while you wait) and by POP it takes less then a second. Is there any solution for this?

Because by Thunderbird it takes the same amount of time, no matter if you use POP or IMAP.

Your assistance would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all your answers!

Hi nallum

How many email accounts and Inboxes do you have?
Are all the accounts IMAP accounts? If so, separate Inboxes (.pst files) is the designed behavior.
POP accounts should all go to the same Inbox.

What is your configuration?

A:microsoft outlook 2010

Go to File > Options > Mail. Scroll down to the 'Save Messages' section, is 'Save forwarded messages' and 'Save copies of messages in sent items folder' ticked?

How many email accounts are you using (are they being saved to the sent folder of another account)?

Are you using POP3 or IMAP (IMAP may have a "Save sent items in the Sent Items folder on this computer" option in the email account settings > more settings section.

Cannot start microsoft outlook. Cannot open the outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

A:Microsoft outlook 2010

Hi Larry welcome to SF . Try these steps
Method 1:

Start->Start Search > then type the following -> "Outlook.exe /resetnavpane" without the quotes.
(Look for the space between outlook.exe and /)

Method 2:

Check if Outlook is in a compatibility mode:
1> Open My Computer>Local Disk C>Program Files>Microsoft Office>Office 14>Outlook.exe.
(If you are using a 64 bit machine, go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office>Office 14>Outlook.exe)

2> Right click on Outlook.exe and click on Properties and then click on Compatibility tab. Check if you have any check mark in any of the compatibility mode options. Make sure you also click on the option "change settings for all users" tab at the bottom of the same screen and look for similar check boxes in the window.

3> If you see any check boxes in the compatibility mode options, uncheck all the boxes and click on Apply and OK.

4> Try to open outlook again

I recevied an email from "Microsoft" becuase I recently registered for (
I registered, and then they sent me an email with a link to click on (to verify my email address)
It had a big blue box that said "verify [my email address]"
When I click on it AND hover over it, it will NOT take me to the link.
It just shows a big box with a long link, and on the bottom left hand corner of the box it says click to follow link.
But like I said, I cannot click it. (well I can click it, its just that nothing happens)
I can't even highlight the link that shows up in the box, so at least I could copy and paste it in the URL.
Any help would be apprechaited....

A:Microsoft Outlook 2010

If you hover over the blue box and right-click, do you get the option to 'Copy hyperlink'.  If so, select that option then paste the link in your browser.

Schedule View in Outlook 2010.

Microsoft Outlook 2010 has a new feature called Schedule View that makes it easier to schedule time with your co-workers. Schedule View is a new horizontal layout for the Outlook calendar that displays many calendars at the same time.

To try Schedule View in Outlook 2010, in Calendar, click Schedule View . Schedule View also appears if five or more calendars are selected. (That number is customizable.)

I'm upgrading to the new software on XP and wonder if it will automatically uninstall OE as I do or if I will have to remove it manually? It's not in Add/Remove Programs.

Will it import accounts from OE during the install?

A:Does Office University 2010 Uninstall Outlook Express?

Outlook should give you the option to import accounts
the first time you run it.
If not,you can always do it from the menu.
It probably won't during installation as you are installing
the full office package.
You don't actually need to uninstall outlook express.
Outlook usually sets itself as default mail handler.
If it doesn't,you can set it as defualt in default programs.

I have searched everywhere and can't fix this problem... any help will be greatly appreciated.

Windows XP Home SP2 and Outlook Express 6.0 both up to the latest updates. IE 7.0.5730.11

I have three "USERS" on my system.. "B", "L", and "C", generated in that order and all have administrative control.

"B" can and has made OE the default mail handler. "B" works fine!!

"L" and "C" cannot make OE the default mail handler and experience these same symptoms..

When an e-mail link is clicked the system generates multiple windows and either hangs or an error window comes up and states that the mail handler is not installed correctly.

When OE is opened and the "tools>options>general tab" is selected, it states that OE is NOT the default mail handler...then when the "Make Default" button is clicked and then either "apply" or "OK" is clicked, an hour glass appears for a few seconds.. then the hour glass goes away like all was normal but if the tools>options>general tab is reselected is continues to state the OE is NOT the default mail handler.

I have tried to re-boot before looking at the tab again.. no help.

IE Tools>Internet Options>Programs shows OE as the e-mail default.

I tried "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg - no help.
I suspected that OUTLOOK 2003 "stepped on" OE.. but removing OUTLOOK didn... Read more

Email will not open. Double-clicking usually works but doesn't do anything now. Alternatively, I right-click on any email and there is never an option to open it. I've tried shutting down and re-starting both the program and the computer [a couple times] with no change. Emails continue to come in normally and I can view them in a side panel but since I can't open them I can't respond or forward them. Help!
