Outlook calendar networking

Q: Outlook calendar networking

I feel sure that the MS Outlook calendar can be set up so that it can be viewed by many over a LAN. Am I right in thinking this can be done? I think it can but can't find the Help instruction that tells me how to do this.

Hi,

I can't get the popup reminders for the calendars to work. Neither in the Metro calendar nor in Outlook.

I also can't make them synchronize.

Does anyone know?

Do sound alerts exist at all in Windows calendars or just pop ups if any?

Thanks.

The Basics
Using Windows 10 Calendar (Outlook) as my primary calendar. The calendar contains two accounts, my Microsoft Live Account and my Gmail Account. In the left panel, I have the Gmail Calendar checked ? the Outlook calendar is unchecked. When I add an event, the default dropdown is my Gmail calendar which is what I want as my default.
My Problem
Events that I add to my calendar show up in both my Outlook calendar and my Gmail calendar as expected ? or maybe not quite as expected. I?ve just discovered that if I add an event several months in the future, it momentarily appears on my Outlook calendar and then is deleted (I see a brief deleted message appear). If I then go directly to my Gmail calendar, the event I just added shows up as expected. As of today (March 24), the cutoff date when the Windows/Outlook calendar automatic deletes begin to occur is September 7 (or 167 days from now). I haven?t yet experimented to see if the cutoff date moves forward every day.
Very strange. Anybody know what?s going on. If you have a similar calendar setup as mine, give it a try and see if your experience is the same. By the way, my Windows 10 system is fully updated.

I'm trying to help a friend who has just installed Office 2016 on her computer, which was recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10.

She's been using Outlook.com and has accumulated a fair amount of email, contacts and calendar appointments. I've managed to get her email to show up by adding it to Outlook 2016 as a POP3 account. I was able to import her contacts into Outlook 2016 from a file called OutlookContacts.csv. Now I'm trying to get her calendar with all its many calendars and appointments into Outlook 2016.

I'm not sure why but the appointments all show up just fine in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10, even though we did nothing to put them there (as far as we know). But she'd like them to appear when she clicks on the Calendar in Outlook 2016 and I can't find any information on how to do that. I've also looked for some kind of Export function in the Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 app but I came up empty.

How do I get her calendar into Outlook 2016?

I can't be the only one who finds Microsoft *awful* at documenting this kind of basic functionality. Millions of people must have tried to do the same thing before me but if there's any information out there on how to do this, it has eluded me so far....

A:Export calendar from Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 to Outlook 2016?

You can manually export calendars from Outlook.com using a round-a-bout method I posted at this link. However, I don't think that's going to help you because what you really want to do is set up Outlook 2016 so that her email, calendar and contacts sync with (and stay in sync with) her Outlook.com account.

Therefore, instead of setting email up as a POP account and then importing calendar, contacts, etc. separately, why not just setup Outlook 2016 to work with her Outlook.com account? I haven't done it with Outlook 2016, only older Outlook versions that used Hotmail Connector, however the following instructions for Outlook 2016 seem fairly straight forward.

https://support.office.com/en-us/art...7-76d60b148b23
If she has two-factor authentication switched on for her Outlook.com account, then you may need to generate an app password from her Outlook.com account, and use that as the password instead of the actual Microsoft Account password.

Hello everybody,
my online outlook calendar does not sync with my Windows Calendar app. I am talking about the online calendar which can be accessed after sign-in here: Prihláste sa do svojho konta Microsoft which for me used to always take all the information from my desktop calendar app, and vice-versa, when I entered an event online, it also appeared in my desktop app. This was useful for syncing with my phone and generally accessing my calendar when not having my laptop on me. This is now impossible for me to do.

Now they don't sync and it's quite annoying, I am getting desperate and thinking of using some other app (if you have tips, tell me. I went through this: Resolve sync issues in Mail and Calendar apps in Windows 10 - Office Support it did not solve the problem. I have updates on (I apply them manually). I have Windows 10 all up to date. and all settings allow calendar to be synced. I checked if I am signed in to the same account, I only have one account in the app and the same one online.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Also, I am adding a picture if it helps, on the left is my calendar, when I access it online, on the right is my Windows App. You can clearly see that there is a lot more on the right. I just want the events to appear in the online calendar as well, as they did before...

Is there is a way to designate a Shared Outlook Calendar (that is used as our company-wide calendar) as an individual's default calendar. We are set up with a Microsoft XP Exchange Server.
The goal is to have the company-wide calendar download to a Blackberry Curve as the user's default calendar. Right now he sees his own calendar which he does not need. We have the Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on his network computer.
Thank you.

As an addendum, it would be preferable that the Outlook/Blackberry user not be able to modify the office-wide Shared Calendar (should there be a way for him to see it) so that all changes still go through our calendar maven. Thank you.

I have been using Outlook 2003 for many years then upgraded to 2007, which I've used for years.

Typically I would enter appointments into my calendar in my Outlook 2007 and sync that with my phone....the blueberry or iPhone 3GS....I upgraded to the iPhone4 and have put appointments into my iPhone and synced my iPhone using iTunes (which normally syncs my Outlook calendar as well).

However, I've noticed recently some appt's put into my phone were not showing up on my Outlook Calendar....more snooping and I've just tonight discovered I have another calendar named iSync-Calendar.ics! Well, that's where many of my missing appointments were found!!

So I look closer at my iPhone4 and go to settings>calendar> and look for my default calendar which is iSync-Calendar.ics!!!

I am assuming that somehow that got switched, but used to be "calendar" which was outlook.

I am hoping this doesn't happen in the future..but for now I'm displaying both Calendar and iSync-Calendar.ics on Outlook so I can see all my appointments!!

Glad I caught that tonight as I have double and tripled booked some time slots in the future not seeing them on my iPhone since default calendar was iSynch and NOT calendar and vice versa!!!

Do you think I corrected the problem? Can I sync the iSync appts into or import them into my Calendar??

So, this is about the integration between the two, of course. I have added the WL feed to OC and it appears there. Every task appears as an "all day" event. Then I uncheck the "all day" box, enter the respective time and make my schedule. And then, I guess at the next refresh from the WL feed, all events are back to "all day" :( Does anybody know how to deal with this? Or any reasonable way to put WL tasks into a(ny) calendar without having to jump through hoops? Thanks in advance!

I've had a persistent problem for several months since I migrated to a new hard drive. Outlook 2010 calendar is working, but only in Active List view. Any attempt to change to Preview or Calendar view produces the error message, "Could not read the calendar." Changing from Active List to List works some of the time, but inconsistently and sometimes it will hunt for the list and offer the same "Could not read the calendar." error message. This is very frustrating as I find it difficult to manage the list view and am accustomed to seeing the calendar week view.

I use an Android phone and use gmail and Google calendar to see mail and appointments on my phone. So, I've got Google Calendar Sync 0.9.4.1 running. Google Calendar Sync appears to be operating normally. I have a nice calendar view on my phone or web-based from my computer. I have tried adding the Google calendar to Outlook but it is a duplicate of the default calendar and I can't set it as the default. Also, MS Office does not permit me to delete the default calendar.

I don't like any of the work arounds. I just want the calendar to work like it should. Research discloses no real hint of anything that works including running scanpst. Scanpst does a great job at fixing the problem by wiping the whole calendar thanks very much MS.

HI..

Ive got an Outlook 2003 using Boss and a Outlook 2002 using Assistant who are having issues with sharing their calendar. The assistant is inputting appointment data into her bosses Outlook 2003 Calendar.

The issue is : The 2002 user puts in a whole day appointment on a given day (say 10/10/2004). When she opens her bosses 2003 calendar, the same appointment is still a whole day, but it stretches across 2 days (in this case 10/10/2004 and 11/10/2004). Both users use common Regional Settings (Australia).

Outlook 2002 user is at Office XP SP3.
Outlook 2003 user is at Office 2003 Pro SP1
Exchange Server 2000 (sp unknown)

We are using Exchange Server
Some staff in our executive branch have brand new laptops (lucky guys) with Office 2007[Of07]. They are creating calendars which need to be shared with other employees, most of which are running only Outlook 2003 [OL03].

Calendar(s) are made, and invites sent for specific calendars to specific groups of users.
IE: Regional Sales Mgr. creates several supplemental "events" calenders he wants to share with his different teams.
Calendars:
---Default, Corporate, Dist1, Dist2, Dist3, Region
Group:
---DistGrp1, DistGrp2, DistGrp3
Permissions:
---Dist1 calender --> DistGrp1
---Dist2 calendar --> DistGrp2
---Dist3 calendar --> DistGrp3
---Region --> DistGrp1, DistGrp2, DistGrp3

All OL03 users get an email with a link to Microsoft explaining how to open shared calendars. Off07 users get the icon to click and open specified calendar.

OL03 user then follows MS instructions, and pulls up the Off07 user's default calendar, with no option to open or even locate any other calender.

Is there something lacking here? Anyone have any work-a-rounds for OL03 users to open a shared calendar (other than the default or main calendar) of an OFF07 user?

Thank you.

Several weeks ago I was invited to an event this past weekend as were several hundred other people. I was not planning to attend the event. On Saturday I was doing my weekly system housekeeping, and I went to my Outlook Calendar and I canceled the event. Evidently my personal cancellation went back to everyone else who had been on the original invitation and was perceived as a cancellation of the event. I have been lambasted all over the place because I "canceled the event". What did I do wrong, and am I correct that it was basically a perception issue by those receiving my personal cancellation and somehow thinking that I had canceled the event? Help?

I'm not totally sure what you mean by you cancelled the event. However when removing events sent to multiple reciepients through Outlook just right click and delete the event and I will not populate to anyone else.

Our office uses a small LAN. File server is Windows NT 4.0 and workstations use Windows 2000. We all use Outlook 98 and are able to share calendars, thus scheduling appointments for other employees. Using Microsoft Exchange Administration at the file server, I could locate the mailboxes for everyone and see their Calendar folder within that. However, I am baffled as to how I can include these folders in our nightly backup.

The backup runs from my workstation. I am mapped to the file server and I can see an Exchange subdirectory listed. But none of the files within that look like they would be the individual Calendars.

I really don't understand how everything is installed. It appears Outlook has been installed on each workstation, but it looks to the file server for the data files such as Calendar. Should there be a subdirectory somewhere containing Calendars? We've been using the program for quite a while, but are very uneasy since we never back it up.

I'm trying to find a way to add a Outlook Web Access calendar to Outlook 2007, is there any? Something similar to Internet Calendars in Outlook 2007 except I can't find an iCal feed in OWA.

My iPhone is able to use OWA to display the calendar on my phone.

Thanks in advance.

FY

A:Add OWA calendar to Outlook 2007

I'm just taking a stab at this... I'm assuming with OWA you have an exchange server, you should be able to set this up on the Outlook desktop client, then see your calendars through OWA?

Somebody created a calendar file that we all use (in Outlook 2003).

However she created several calendar entries for the future that now need deleting, but she's away on Maternity Leave and she set the permissions so that people can only edit their own entries (so we are stuck with hers!)

Is there a way of changing this?

I would like to know if I can configure my Outlook 2003 Calendar so I can make a queue of tasks and then drag specific tasks into the calendar. I know how to generate a task list and I know how to create "appointments" in the calendar, but I can't seem to view both the task list and calendar at the same time. I'm trying create a scheduling system for our landscape company without having to invest in expensive software. We do not need a robust system, just one that we can have the crews view and access information attached to their specific "appointment". Does anyone have ideas?

A:Outlook 2003 Calendar

I am not sure about Outlook 2003, but in 2007 you can view your tasks right next to your calendar by clicking view > to do bar. You can also drag tasks to the calendar, but since you can set reminders in your tasks why bother? Do you have an Exchange Server or is this seperate standalone instances of Outlook? Access is great as a personal organizer, but I think it falls short in a lot of ways as a scheduling application. There are far better tools out there to do scheduling.

In outlook if you go to tools > option > preferences > calendar options > add holidays

You are suppose to be able to add standard holidays to your calendar (christmas, thanksgiving, etc) however when I added, it said everything was successful however I don't see any holidays in my calendar.

Are there some kind of filters that are preventing me from seeing anything? Default doesn't let you see holidays?

I am having real problems with the Calendar in MS Outlook.
When I try to post a new appointment into the calendar I go to the day and time where I want to set a new appointment and double click. The new appoointment box appears and I fill in the details of the new appointment then click "Save & Close" ... all perfectly in order, then I go to the calendar page in question and there is nothing shown on the date and time I have set.
Strangely, there is a one line comment on todays date and time when I actually typed in the appointment????
When I go to the advanced toolbar at the top and go to the box that usually states "day/week/month" and click on the small arrow beside it, you get a number of choices which includes "active appointments" ....click on that and I can then see all of my future appointments including the one just recorded. All of my past appointments have also disappeared from each day back into the past, which is a real issue because I can't track back to former meetings etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi bsh376.

WELCOME TO TSG!

I just want you to know that I'm pretty good with Outlook and have never seen anything like what you're describing. Please don't think your question is being ignored.

I suggest you try the following to see if you can maybe help yourself:

Try Microsoft Technet's Knowledgebase:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;kbhowto&sd=TECH&ln=EN-US&FR=0
Choose Outlook (your version)
The fewer the keywords you use, the better. The fewer keywords you use, the more articles to go through. Two or three keywords is best really. Watch how many replies. The default is only 25. Might want to change to much more.

Try about the best Outlook site out there:
http://www.slipstick.com
Use only one or two words in your search, I think.

I hope this helps!

Oh...and before you do any of that, make sure you've got the latest service packs (I wouldn't go above #2 in Office 2000 though). And you might want to clean up your PC just to be certain: www.theofficeexperts.com/cleanyourpc.htm

Let me know how you make out.

I opened my Outlook this morning at my office this morning and it was fine. When I left my office in the afternoon to do work at home, my calendar was blank. My outlook is synced to a live.com (hotmail) account, not a business server. For some reason the events that were snoozed at one point are still popping up. The outlook calendar is synced thru google to my phone. I can still see the calendar in google which has a lot of appointments on it. I don't know if these were just appointments I added thru my phone though and not ones entered on my laptop. I can still see the calendar on my phone as well.

So, in sum, my calendar on desktop outlook is gone but remains on google and phone. When I open outlook a window pops up and says; "Could not read the calendar. Outlook cannot open this item. The item may be damaged." It also says this in the top right where the calendar used to be. If I click the calendar button it takes me to the page where the calendar should be but instead shows; "Cannot display the folder". I have Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. I'm not super IT savvy but need to get this calendar with the appointments back somehow. Sorry for the lengthy explanation, just trying to give as much info as possible. Please help if you can. Thanks!

We have our office outlook file in a particular location where everyone can access it. Yes, only one person can be in it at a time. That is fine. But, apparently during a reinstall that Microsoft had me do for another reason, my calendar stopped pointing to the location of the pst file that I need. I thought that reimporting the data would make Outlook go to that file as its default when I opened it in the future. But that is not happening. I have looked and looked in the menu system and do not see how to change where Outlook goes for its calendar. (which is different that where it goes for my inbox, etc.)

Does anyone know how to do this?

for details, the office calendar is at O:/OfficeCalendar.pst. This file is on my computer and shared with others.

Ok so I added a few events to my calendar real quick the other day by just clicking the day (in grid view) and typing in the event name. Just now when I went back and fixed the day I hit save and the event isn't visable on the month grid. The event is still there but in order to view it I have to scroll down to the time in day view. Why doesn't the event show up when in month view? all of my events are doing that now, they never used to! AHHH!

Thanks

A:Solved: Outlook Calendar

Hi Michael, which version of Outlook are you using? In Outlook 2007, when you're in the month view there are radio buttons at the top where you can choose for the Details to be Low, Medium or High. To show the individual appointments (as opposed to all day appointments) you must choose High. Hope that helps.

My CFO does not want anyone to see his calendar. I've gone through the permissions, there are no delegates and I've unchecked the folder visible. I can still open his calendar from my desk when I test the different settings.

Besides telling him to use a hard copy calendar or palm pilot am I missing something?

On an Exchange Server, using Office 2000 Pro on NT workstations.
edit - tried to open the calendar on a pc that did not have my admin rights and couldn't see it. So all of the above did work, thanks for letting me vent if nothing else.

A:Not Sharing Outlook Calendar

Littlemar, you are his delegate, and you must go to his PC and remove yourself.

I don't have CW version here at home, but I recall that the setting is somewhere under one of the Tools-Options tabs...

You'll see yourself there as a delegate. Perhaps others too?

Delegates have full permission and can even send "on behalf of". They are not given permissions like others are under the permissions tab of a folder.

Sharing Outlook 2007 calendar with Outlook 2003 users

---Dist1 calender --> DistGrp1
---Dist2 calendar --> DistGrp2
---Dist3 calendar --> DistGrp3
---Region --> DistGrp1, DistGrp2, DistGrp3

Thank you.

The Outlook 2002 Calendar is supposed to integrate data from, among other outlook files, the Outlook Contacts files. I recently imported all my Outlook 98 files into Outlook 2002 but certain data in my contacts files (birthday and anniversary dates) are not reflected in the Calendar automatically (in the form of a reminder) as they were in Outlook 98.

However, if I enter a new contact with a birth or anniversary date the date automatically shows up in the Calendar. Am I missing something obvious, or must I go back and re-enter the birth and anniversary dates of all my contacts?

Alright, my turn to look for help now...

I accidentally deleted a local calendar in Outlook 2003, and like an idiot, don't have a backup. I tried "Undo" immediately, but it was greyed out. There's no sign of the entries in "Deleted Items" either. The only info Microsoft has for advanced Outlook undelete applies only to calendars based on Exchange servers.

The only tool I've been able to find that will fix this is OutlookFIX by Cimaware, and in its demo version, it finds the lost entries in the .PST file, but of course, won't restore them unless I buy the full version... and that starts at US$139(!!!) for the Pro version. The Enterprise version is significantly more expensive. I can't afford OR justify something on the order of CDN$170 for something I'll probably only ever use once.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or utilities that might help? Or anyone actually have OutlookFIX that could process this .PST for me?

I had to reinstall Outlook 2000 Calendar (had to reinstall Win2000Pro on this older computer - no fun). I got everything back to normal except the Outlook Calendar. I imported the pst files from a backup. Now if I open it tries to remind me of all the old entries. I have found numerous reverences on how to clean it up but that requires that I can get to the Outlook page but the reminders overload things and it shuts down. I, of course, can un-install Office (no way just to uninstall Outlook-I don't think). Then I can try all over again with a different file or type in all the stuff.
