Q: Enterprise Deployment of Wireless and Remote Access with RSA SecureID & Microsoft IAS

Hiya

This whitepaper describes how to configure RSA ACE/Server to provide a secure authentication solution for VPN and Windows XP 802.1X wireless clients running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 with the PEAP QFE installed. This is accomplished by using Internet Authentication Service (IAS) with any Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) standard–compatible virtual private network (VPN) server or Protected EAP (PEAP)-compatible wireless access point.

Hi-

So i'm in an enterprise environment and we're currently replacing user PCs. HP z420 workstations running Windows 7 Enterprise (64 bit). We receive our PCs directly from HP and then image them with Clonezilla, join them to the domain, etc. and off they go. Never any issues in the past. (w/ Z400 32-bit W7 boxes as well as slightly older z420 64bit boxes - smaller HD, 6gb RAM) with this last shipment of PCs, the process is the same.

Once deployed, every single one of these boxes starts crashing after roughly 48-72 hours, specifically Application Hang based errors related to java and IE 11. after tasking out of the offending application a reboot is required (app will not respond when re-opened) at which point the machine will hang on "shutting down". run the gamut of applying latest windows updates, java updates, AV updates, IE tweaks (some of which can't be changed because of group policy settings) and nothing is working.

once the machine is (inevitably) hard rebooted it behaves, but the same problems eventually re-appear.

ugh. it's killing me because of course we're under a time crunch and management just wants the project "swiftly completed"

A:Win 7 Enterprise PCs crashing 48-72 hours after deployment

Bad image

They are never fun.

You are doing what I/we call a pilot, this image should have been tested and worked out before hand.

The project manager and the on sight IT lead should be working together to fix the problem

Hi all,

I've recently started in a new job as an ICT technician. I'm working with a system admin at a local school.

In previous jobs I've always used a "gold image" to deploy out to machines. In the new job there is no such thing unfortunately, making new installs a long drawn out affair (lots of additional software installs. Office, Visio, custom programs etc)

I have some spare time on my hands soon, so was thinking of creating a standard image that I can deploy (just via USB) to new machines that need to be imaged.

I already have a WinPE boot disk and understand the concept of sysprep and configuring in audit mode after a clean install (this will be my approach) I will probably then use CloneZilla to image the final product and deploy onto single machines where needed.

... I have a few questions!

1. How should I handle Windows updates? These are normally pushed out via WSUS - Some things should *not be installed* latest IE for example. WSUS is only pushing out IE9 due to some compatibility issues with sites that are currently used (there may be other updates that are not installed, but I'm not 100%) - What would be the best approach here? Not using the standard Windows update before I sysprep, or joining the domain, installing updates via wsus, then leaving the domain and running a sysprep?

2. Being as all the machines will be the same make and model, would it be worth including drivers into the mix, or will they be removed with sysprep? I be... Read more

A:Windows 7 Enterprise Deployment & WSUS

Don't have time to answer all your questions, but I can tell you that you do not need to join the domain to use WSUS, just configure the proper settings either in Group Policy or in the registry directly. Having them part of the domain only aids in mass configuration.

[Background] -- I build images for my city organization of 10,000+ computers. With WinXP we built images for each device individually (so that?s one image for E6530, and then T3600, and GX790, the list goes on). Since Win7 is a crossplatform OS, so I hear, I can build just one image to support all the different types of computers (as long as there is ample HDD, RAM, CPU, etc)

On Dell?s enterprise website there are driver cab files containing all needed drivers for each specific device. However, sometimes drivers in the cab file are outdated and can only be updated by going to support.dell.com. And in annoying cases, I have to search on vendor websites

[Question 1] -- How can I create folders, or packages, or cab files (anything) that contain all the drivers needed for a single device? So instead of having 100 different images, I?d only 1 master image with 100 different driver ?packages?, saving on a lot of storage space

[Question 2] -- Is there a way to do this without having the physical device on hand? So far I only know how to locate driver issues by going into the computer and going to Device Manager and looking at the hardware with warning signs

Hi all!

I've encountered a little problem. I have multiple sites in several country where needed to deploy win10 with different language and keyboard settings.

Everything else is fine, all other countries are OK but czech and poland.. I need to apply keyboard setting so that cs-CZ (pl-pl) is default, en-US secondary.

I've configured unattend.xml file so that inputlocale is cs-CZ; en-US (pl-Pl; en-US).. it should work.. ? Well it doesn't. I've tried also with: 0405:0001045; 0409:00000409.. .Still same.. In OS there is only czech keyboard.. Of course I can add en-US keyboard manually but I need to have it automatically.. Why en-US won't be there seen automatically in list? Also when adding manually en-us then UI lang will change after re-login to cz-CS (I haven't applied any other ui lang than eng in unattended.xml)

I have input locale configured in 4 Specialize and 7 oobeSystem in xml file.

I'm using Win10 1511 ent x64, SCCM is CB..

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm sharing a (password protected) wireless connection with a few people and I want to make sure I understand what that means for my privacy. Does being on the same wireless as someone automatically give that person remote access to your computer?

Some background info:

I use Windows XP.
My computer is password protected.
The wireless is password protected (WPA Key)
The modem is not connected to my computer. It's connected to a different computer (a Mac) and I'm able to access the wireless because I know the password.
I don't recall ever having run the Wireless Network Setup Wizard on my computer. My computer just scanned the area, picked up the wireless signal and after typing in the password, I'm now able to use that connection to get on the internet.
When I right-click on any folder in My Documents and select properties from the drop down menu and then click on the Sharing tab, it says, "As a security measure, Windows has disabled remote access to this computer. However, you can enable remote access and safely share files by running the Network Setup Wizard."
My Windows Firewall has been turned OFF for some time. I recently turned it back on.
The Shared Documents folders on my computer are all empty.
The My Network Places window on my computer is blank (no icons).
The Network Connections window shows an icon for the wireless connection that we use (simply called Wireless Network Connection), as well as a 1934 Connection ... Read more

A:Windows XP Remote Deployment (Standard Builds)

I think your main problem is with the different systems. With having different systems you will aquire driver issues when pushing an image to these systems. Usually with different systems you need an image for each one.

I currently use RIS. It works quite well but is trouble some to get working. RIS uses an answer file that inputs all interactive data (productkey, company name, time, etc.).
I have also used Ghost. The biggest issue we have run into with Ghost is it will duplicate the host machine exactly. The problem with that is it also duplicates the SID of the host machine. As most people know this will not work in a AD domain environment. Thus the reason we went with RIS.

License keys (how would one go about customising individual workstations to contain unique keys from a master build)

Normally you would need a VLK (volume license key).

Your biggest issue will be your different machines. Unless you decide to replace them all with the same, It would probably be easier to install the environment individually.

Hello,

My father saw a pop-up that said his computer had an error and was infected with malware.  The pop-up had a phone number to call.  He talked to someone who said he was a certified Microsoft technician and got my dad scared about the Zeus virus.  My dad gave him access to his computer and they did a remote session.

The person did not ask for a credit card number, he asked to be mailed a check but wasn't too worried about getting paid.

I know that my dad should not have done what he did  But now I'm trying to clean the computer from what may be compromised.  I am currently running SpyHunter and it has already found 217 threats detected.  It looks like the scary one is HawkEye keylogger and there is also Conduit Search/Toolbar and FindYourMaps Toolbar.  I'm 70% done.

I'd love to know what to do next and if someone could please walk me through all the things I need to make sure and take care of to keep my dad safe.  Thank you for your help and support!

Hi

The process svchost.exe maxes out my cpu after my computer has been on for about 2 days. There is nothing special happening when it starts running. I have used Process Explorer to investigate and it is only when i stop the service "Routing and Remote Access" that the cpu usage comes back down to normal. However, this messes up my internet connection so it really is not an optimal solution. I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with this!

I am running XP Pro (I think SP2) on an IBM X40.

I gave the tech remote access and he said I had a tiny something trojan virus. Well I didn't fall for paying, got off the phone, held power button down and turned computer off. Am able to use it fine now with no more warning but am I safe after giving the remote access? I was on the phone for about 30 mins while he was going around to different areas in my computer telling me what all of the "problems" were.

This is more of a networking question than anything to do with a Microsoft product. I just need some advice.

I have a client that has a security system that I installed. Remote access to security systems are a common practice that I've set-up numerous times with no major issues, until now. My client's ISP is a Wireless providor that NATs through a PPTP connection.
I forwarded a port in his router, but noticed that his WAN is an internal address so further forwarding needs to be done. I browsed to the device next in line, and found myself being able to log into the ISP's Ubiquiti (AirOS) using the default user/pass.
I just took a peek, and notice that the Ubiquiti has a private WAN that comes from another hop in front of it. I don't know how many times it hops, but it could be NATing several times before reaching the ISP. Is there a work-around to this, or would it be
possible to convince an ISP to forward 1 port on every single hop they have between the customer and the ISP?

Hi Everyone-

New to TSG, so please bear with me. I'm essentially looking to extend an existing network in a primary warehouse for our company across a parking lot to a secondary warehouse with no network drops. I need to keep the ability to assign addresses in the existing scheme over to two computers in the secondary warehouse. Any suggestion on a simple and reliable way to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

A:Wireless Access for remote location

Regular wireless (802.11g/n) is probably not going to do the trick depending on the distance. However, you can purchase point-to-point optical or microwave links that will extend a network at wire speeds. All you need is line of sight between the two buildings.

There is a Java EE Tutorial sample called Converter. It is described here.

This example works with a local Application Server - Glassfish 3.1.2 and Glassfish 4.1.1

I have set up a similar server on Amazon EC2 - free micro instance.

Netbeans IDE - the Java EE development tool, can be told to either deploy it on the local or the Amazon EC2-based server.

The same example will work on the local host, but not deploy and run on the Amazon EC2-based host.

This is not as it should be. That is the whole point of Java EE and App Servers.

In contrast, a normal web client (.war) works in both local and remote instances.

It seems to be a bug in Netbeans 7.x.x. However, Netbeans 8.1 also has the same behavior.

I have attached the server logs for both local and remote Glassfish instances, and the error as it appears in Netbeans.

Any clues ?

I have a small business wireless network that lives behind a DSL modem. I have the modems public IP address and can access its admin functions but I am wondering how I might be able to access the wireless router admin pages through the DSL modem from a remote location. I suppose there are software solutions but I would rather not deal with that if I can just forward some ports or something. The DSL and wireless are both unsecured but thankfully they are not connected to our business computers. Are there specific ports that should be used if it's a port forward issue? I know that the DSL modem assigns a private IP address through DHCP to the router and I have that as well but I'm kind of foggy on the port thing.

Thanks guys!

So I met a co worker who pretended to be friends with me. I invited him over and let him use the computer while I was away to the gas station. I suspect that he did something and gained remote access to my computer.

I found out about it when I checked my wireless connections on my router and found his name on the network : Steve's - Iphone and a couple of unfamiliar connections. I then opened my task manager and ended some tasks I thought were possibly infected. When I went back to the wireless status, the unfamiliar connections disappeared. Then few minutes later my mouse froze and this guy messaged me talking trash. I checked the wireless connections and they were back. Right now I have my wireless turned off and I think I am safe.

I use Norton firewall + kaspersky internet security and my virus definitions have always been up to date, but I cannot detect anything. I also set my options to permit only MAC authenticated computers and changed my wireless WPA/WPA2 key, but everytime I turn my wireless on, this guy somehow is connected to my network.

Hello,
During the capture process, i have my wireless key set in the profile. Once I deploy the image, the key is no longer there and i have to set up the profile again. Is there a way that this can be done during the deployment, through the customsettings.ini
or a script?

A:Wireless profile during image deployment

Hi,
1. netsh wlan export profile name=ssidname
This will give you an xml file
2. netsh wlan add profile filename=ssidname.xml
This will import the Wireless profile
This will help

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I am attempting to setup a new wireless network model in my home, and am looking for some advice on the proper hardware I need.

I currently have a laptop which I use to connect wirelessly to my network. I previously used a wired-router to connect directly to a cable modem, and would then have all my network devices (Storage, media, etc.) connected to the wired router. I would use a Airport Express to create a wireless signal from this network and connect to my laptop. Worked fine.

In my new home, I'd like to keep a router in my room, which is not where my modem has been installed. What I am looking to do is connect all the above hardware to a separate LAN. I have been looking into using a wireless bridge/access point for this.

In checking out these options, I'm a little confused. Bridges and Access Point are expensive; why are they so expensive when they do less than a router? Also, it is very important the access point can connect to the network wirelessly. I do not want to run wires all over my home, so would like a device that can join a wireless network and connect to my router. I will buy a new router if I have to (one with wireless support) if it has a bridge/repeater/access point mode. Is there a specific feature I should be looking for?

Today, I cannot use the internet and access my personal network devices without changing my network connection from my laptop. This is irritating, as I can't do thing... Read more

A:Wireless Network Deployment Model

Truthfully, I think a wireless bridge is a bad idea. If you try to do file sharing over a wireless link, you better have patience, because it'll be pretty slow! The best topology is to have all the wireless access points hard wired to the network.

Wow, I have created a killer database to deploy and use at work, I am to the part that I need to deploy it on a network drive and I need to secure it and make it so that 1 user can access 1 form only, to provide input. This appears to be more complex and difficult than making the database itself! Does anyone have a simple way of setting up security and users?
Thanks, Joe

A:Solved: Access DB deployment, security, users, etc

Just Secure that Database with the User Level Securtiy Wizard, unless of course you are using Access 2007 which doesn't have it (silly Microsoft)
Once the database is secured you set up the user & Group Accounts, see this thread.

I know that this cannot be done with XP Pro remote desktop and could be by Windows Server 2003 remote desktop, but i need an alternate solution to make this happen.

I asked a question in another thread wanting to know if there were any good free alternatives to programs PCAnywhere or GoToMyPC. Boy did I ever get more than I expected in TeamViewer that EAFiedler suggested.

Now I have a technical question about how TeamViewer works. It connects to remote systems across the internet not by an IP number that I enter but rather by an arbitrary nine-digit number assigned to the system when the program is set up. It connects so quickly that I know it cannot be scanning every IP address on the 'net looking for a TeamViewer connection at every one of them. So, I have deduced that there must be a server out there somewhere that stores TeamViewer information.

Does anyone know enough about this to confirm this and/or explain it to me somewhat?

Next question: What about security? Are there any security issues I should be concerned about, other than the obvious, of course?

In the past, I've been using Remote Desktop to access my home computers. It works very well, but it's always a challenge getting everything set up to work right before I go. I was wondering if others who have used Remote Desktop as well as other means of remote access would care to share their experience and express a preference, if any.

Thanks.

This morning, I heard a nationally syndicated computer expert state that some Chinese hackers were "getting into" Windows based computers through "Remote Access/Remote Desktop" even if the service is turned off. According to the guru, "They will turn it on for you."
Being very concrete, as well as, somewhat dull concerning computers, I find this hard to believe. Could someone, in layman's terms, tell me the circumstances needed that would allow a hacker to take control of someone's system when a necessary service is turned off ??

Hello everyone,
I've downloaded the evaluation copy of MS Windows 10 Enterprise, burned the image onto the DVD-ROM and installed this image per given instructions, however it seems that I have installed a rootkit instead. It is apparrent in the number of executables in
the Windows/Windows32 subdirectory, which return with positive virustotal.com results  when queried with sigcheck (Microsoft System Internal Tools). Also, this image of W10 Ent would not allow me to setup an appropriate firewall protection as any attempt
to do so (only allow ports 53, 80 and 443 only for TCP and UDP protocols), for local and remote connections, end either with full network block (local rules seem not be effective) or with these ports getting forwarded onto ports 50000 and up (netstat prompt).
I wonder, is there any other way how to make this image into a secure operating system environment, or, is this some kind of "feature" which the Windows 10 Enterprise evaluation copy is based upon?
Thanks

"An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run Setup and select 'Repair...' to restore this application"

Now i assumed that this was due to the fact that this was a student account. We then upgraded the account to Domain Admin, and we are getting the same error.

This is in an enterprise, and if we were to repair the Word File, We would have to do it on all 18 computers on said domain.

Is there an alternative?

I have a Windows 7 laptop here are work, I am trying to get on our wireless network. I have no problem doing this with a XP laptop.

This computer is not on our domain. Our WPA wireless authenticates the username/pass in order to connect the wireless.

Normally in XP if I wanted to do this, I would just change the wireless connection to not use the username/pass to connect automatically, and it would prompt for a username/password and the domain.

Once those were inputed the wireless would connect. However I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this within windows 7.

Any Ideas?

Hiya

ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition uses a Configuration Storage server as a storage mechanism for enterprise and array settings. ISA Server array members must be able to connect to a Configuration Storage server, and in the following scenarios certificates are required to authenticate this connection:
• When ISA Server computers are not installed in a domain (workgroup mode)
• When ISA Server array members are part of a domain that does not have a trust relationship with the domain in which the Configuration Storage server is located.

Certificate configuration is done during ISA Server Setup, but if you want to change configuration settings after installation, ISACertTool.exe helps you do the following:
• Install a server certificate on the Configuration Storage server
• Install a root certificate on each array member to indicate that it trusts the Certification Authority that issued the server certificate.
System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003

I've spent hours trying to install the Microsoft Home Use Program on my personal notebook PC at home with no success. My workplace enables me to purchase a licensed copy at a cheaper rate to put on my home computer, whilst I remain employed by them.

I click on the link to http://hup.microsoft.com/.
Select the country "Australia".
Enter my corporate email address.
I enter the program code that work gave me.
I check my work email account and receive the email successfully.
I open the email which says "congratulations, you are eligible to purchase the home use program for $28".
I click on the green "Buy Now" button.

Then, this is where it all goes wrong.... Instead of taking me to the screen that allows me to purchase my license/product key and download the software to my PC, the screen reverts back to the previous one which asks me for my corporate email address and program code! I am going around in circles! There are no error messages.

I have tried turning off the antivirus program and I have tried cleaning and fixing my drives. I have a brand new ASUS notebook PC model PRO50G with stickers on it saying windows vista and intel pentium.

Can anyone please help me to install the home use program??! Thanks:)

I'm attempting to install Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, and during installation an error message appears that says something like: error - cannot update file/folder at c:\windows\pchealth, installation cannot proceed.

Then the installer rolls back everything and I get mad. Does anyone have any suggestions? How do I authorize the folder? This has been happening for a while and a solution will make me very happy inside.

Just thought I'd also mention this as it may have some bearing on why this is happening: When I purchased my computer it came with Windows XP Media Center, but a virus plagued my system and my hard drive became corrupted and I had to reinstall windows. Unfortunately, I didn't have the installation disk and ended up installing a non-Media Center edition on a disk from my roommate. I don't know if this would affect anything...but just thought I'd put it out there.

A:Trouble installing Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise (PCHEALTH Error message)

Sorry, it's actually Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007.
Here's the actual message I get when attempting to install.

"Error 1317. Setup cannot create the folder C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\ERRORREP. Verify that the path exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it."
Anyone?? Please help!

Hello,

I currently am running a server-2012 domain environment with several Windows 7 laptops. I setup a radius server to authenticate users with Active Directory to obtain a wireless connection. On each Windows 7 laptop there is a wireless profile created using "user authentication". As it stands right now, only users that are profiled can login to the laptop. Once they are profiled and they enter a username/password, it will then attempt to connect to the network, then obtain an IP address if everything is entered correctly.

What I am trying to accomplish is, for a network connection to be established prior to login. I was working on someone's laptop remotely, and one of the changes I made required a reboot. Once it rebooted, I never gained connection to the laptop, as it doesn't get on the network until logged in. Is there any way I can accomplish this? Thanks for any help you can throw at me.

-Ken

A:Wireless connection at login with WPA2-Enterprise

I continued to research my issue online and have figured it out. If anyone else experiences this issue, here's my resolution. Before, I had a Windows group called "wireless users" in active directory that certain users would belong to. Then, I used WPA2-Enterprise with "User Authentication", but it only got you on the network if you were already profiled, *and* if you entered the password correctly. I found that, if the password on the account was changed using a different workstation, and you put the new password in, you wouldn't be able to login to the laptop, or you would get "no logon servers available".

Basically, in the "wireless users" group, I simple added "Domain Computers" to the members, and then changed the WPA2-Enterprise to "Users and Computers" for authentication. This way, laptops will be on the network at logon, and can login with different password if it was changed, and even profile new accounts. Also, any other wireless device (ex. iPad, Android) can connect using credentials that belong to the "wireless users" group.

This step-by-step guide describes how to configure remote access policies through the Routing and Remote Access snap-in when Routing and Remote Access is configured to use a Windows authentication provider and through the Internet Authentication Service (IAS) snap-in when Routing and Remote Access is configured to use a Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) authentication provider. My organization relies on a public safety program that will only work with IE8/9. I tried Enterprise Mode but it appears that it doesn't work with files that are on the hard drive. I did verify that it worked by adding whatsmybrowser.org to the
list and it reported the browser as IE8. Each computer that this goes on has a unique ID so this isn't something we could put on the web or intranet. Is it possible to point to a local folder that contains the *htm files?

I have McAfee Enterprise on my computer (from my spouse's work because he works at home sometimes). I'm running Windows XP. We recently installed a new hard drive mostly due to a nasty worm.

I know this is going to sound a little confusing - but that's because I'm confused about firewalls, etc.

My questions have to do with the McAfee Enterprise Access Protection Log; A log is generated everytime there is an event... one of the recurring messages I get is the following:

7/28/2010 12:07:24 AM Would be blocked by Access Protection rule (rule is currently not enforced) COMPUTER1\Cecelia C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Documents and Settings\Cecelia\Local Settings\Temp\IXP000.TMP\setup_wm.exe Common Standard Protection:Prevent common programs from running files from the Temp folder Action blocked : Execute

I am taking this to mean that if I set it (is "it" the firewall?) up the correct way, the rule would be enforced and whatever it is would not have run in the temp file. At the time I was loading a program I needed. This has happened whenever I download or load a program.

My questions: Is it okay to block things from running in there? Don't they need a place to run temporarily? I don't think this is internet temp folder, is it? I empty it once a day.

Can someone explain this to me in simple terms? I want to use this to my best advantage, but I don't want to handcuff myself when I want to load or download ...... Read more

I have done a significant amount of Googling and have yet to come up with a solution. I am running Dell Sonicwall Sonicpoints and NPS on Server 2012 R2. Here is the problem:

Windows 10 Laptop:
Connects to wireless network almost instantly, NPS logs show complete authentication cycle. This works in multiple PEAP configurations including Secure Password Auth. and Certificate Based Auth.

Windows 7 Laptops:
Added Profile and configured as follows(same as Windows 10 box): WPA2-Enterprise, PEAP Authentication, No Certificate Validation, Secure Password (EAP-MSCHAP V2), 802.1x Authentication Mode is User Authentication.
I will reply with logs after the break.....

As the subject suggests, I have had to re install Windows 7 Enterprise and it seems to have lost part of the partitioned drive. As per the picture the PS3 drice and Panthro drives are part of an internal hard drive, when I click on it I get the error message?

Would be very grateful if someone would spare the time to help me.

Thanks

Hello,

I have McAfee Enterprise and am having some issues:

1) I am trying to figure out a good balance of settings. Does anyone have any ideas for Access Protection settings? Should this be turned on (turning it off doesn't seem to affect protection status in windows)? What should be selected? Is there any 'defaults' or way to restore defaults? I realize this depends, but if anyone has any ideas for a reasonable starting point or range, that would be great.

2) I cannot consistently get the McAfee logo or any sort of tray icon. I have the settings set to display it, but it is not consistently displayed. If I check, McAfee is running, but I prefer to have the icon there and it seems strange that it suddenly disappears.

3) McAfee access protection seems to have been blocking windows updates. Some googling revealed others report this problem, but it seems really strange that this hasn't been fixed...does anyone know how to fix this?

Any insights would be appreciated : )

Hi,

I have just been online with Microsoft who were trying to help me as I have a laptop that will not install Windows 10. They remote accessed my laptop and took my name, email address and phone number. They then performed some tests on the laptop, took some machine information from me and advised that they could see what the problem was and could easily resolve the issue for me.

After some time the person I was chatting to online advised that there would be a charge for the help as the problem was so complicated. Now I am not sure that the person I was speaking to was actually from Microsoft.
I was quoted the price of £106 to fix the problem (the problem seemed to be a corrupt Windows installer and problems with the 'source engine'). The link I clicked on to access the help was displayed on-screen after my latest attempt to install Windows 10 failed.

I'm now fearing that the person who accessed my PC wasn't actually from Microsoft, what should I do?

Hi there
worked exactly as "It said on the tin".

Ran the .exe file from the ISO (using the virtual mounter system in W8.1 (W8 has this too).

Gave me the option to keep applications and settings (Didn't on RTM).

Installed fine -- you need to DISCONNECT from the Internet at Ms account prompt and press back button - continues with local account - re-connect internet.

To activate Windows enter your product key from TechNet - the RTM one works - don't waste retrieve another key - especially as the RTM one is valid.

Re-boot after activation to get rid of watermark.

Working perfectly -- except the IE11 back navigation - that still hasn't been fixed - I posted on that in the browsers section.

12 mins for entire install (using SSD though !!) -- up and running again - no driver issues at all this time.

Cheers

It is possible the OLE Server is not registered. To Register it, reinstall it" Its very extrange because my database worked fine before I reinstalled windows and office and the thing the it works fine with the excel link but not with the word link. Please if anyone have and idea of what is going on??? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Welcome to TSG jcantini,
Since no one is offering any thing here I'm going to suggest you save the document in the current version of word and reistablish/rebuild the link. I suspect this is an older version of access running with office 2010? mdb file type?

If you google "the ole server isn't registered access 2010" there are tons of confusing suggestions out there! Good luck..

Hello everyone,
I've downloaded the evaluation copy of MS Windows 10 Enterprise a few days ago, burned the image onto the DVD-ROM and installed this image per given instructions, however it seems that I have installed a rootkit instead. It is apparrent in the number of
executables in the Windows/Windows32 subdirectory, which return with positive virustotal.com results  when queried with the sigcheck prompt (Microsoft System Internal Tools). Also, this image of W10 Ent would not allow me to setup an appropriate firewall
protection as any attempt to do so (only allow ports 53, 80 and 443 only for TCP and UDP protocols), for local and remote connections, end either with full network block (local rules seem not be effective) or with these ports getting forwarded onto ports 50000
and up (netstat prompt). Although a lame question (sorry, newbie here! :), are these local ports supposed to be that wide open, or, should they be also limited in the same manner as the remote ports (53,80,443)?

And finally, is there any other way how to make this image work as a secure OS environment, or, is this some kind of "feature" which the Windows 10 Enterprise evaluation copy is based upon in order for MS to disable the system if anyone then used
this licence in excess of these set 90 days, I wonder...?
Thanks
Zdenek

I am having a hard time connecting to Microsoft remote desktop when I am at home and not other places. I had the Remote desktop setup at work by the IT department. We tested the connection at work using two different internet connections and everything worked
just fine. I brought my computer home and tried to connect and I get a box saying that I cannot connect to the Remote PC. I brought my computer back to work and had no problem connecting and I did nothing different. When i brought my computer home I am still
unable to connect. I recently went on vacation and was able to connect remotely with the two different hotel internet connections with no problem. When I got home I tried again and am still not able to connect. The only thing that I can come up with is that
the problem is with my internet provider, might this be the case? It is possible that it is something that I am able to adjust in my setting or might I have to get a hold of the internet provider to try to get this fixed as I am getting ready to be on maternity
leave and am in need of accessing the program.
Thanks for the help.

HI, I have very choppy audio with Microsoft Remote Desktop.
I am connecting to 2 very powerful windows 8.1 Desktops from my Macbook Pro over my local Wifi ( both systems are on my local network " the 8.1 desktop's are hardwired to my gigabit router with Cat6" ) My Macbook Pro is pulling over 170 mpb down
speeds over the wifi. and the desktops are pulling over 330mbps..... i don't think i have a connection speed issue.
I use Remote Desktop daily from my Macbook Pro to My PC's and it's worked very well up until about a month ago. I am not sure how to trouble shoot this problem as their aren't any options other than "Play on Device" in the preferences.
I do have another Macbook thats quite a bit older and the Audio is working fine via RDC....
I have removed the program from my Macbook Pro and re-installed it - this didn't help...
id like to solve this without re-installing OS X

It appears you are running a 'normal' version of Windows 8 on your desktop. You'll need the PRO version in order to enable remote access.
