Eventlog 1030 and userenv GetGPOInfo failed

Q: Eventlog 1030 and userenv GetGPOInfo failed

First up, hello everyone.

I have XP computers connected to a SBS2003R2 domain that is posting 1030 Userenv errors in the eventlog. I've not checked them all but three of them definitely are, so we can presume they all are.

Through Userenv.log, I've wiggled it down to two variants of:

USERENV(314.480) 21:50:37:892 ProcessGPO: CheckFilterAcess failed for <CN={C94DA5DA-A892-44ED-B77D-618A143ED5CC},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=[domainname],DC=local>. Filter not found

Followed by many of the following that correlate with the eventlog errors:

USERENV(318.868) 09:47:24:929 ProcessGPOs: GetGPOInfo failed.

My question is - whereto from here? OUs, GPO and the such is on the edge of my knowledge. It seems that if I can find what GPO is failing, I'm there.

A: Eventlog 1030 and userenv GetGPOInfo failed

I would suggest since you are apparently having troubles with a Small Business Server that you ask to have this post moved to the Networking forum here at TSG. You will get a better response there. You can do this by clicking the little triangle at the top right corner of the window and ask a moderator to please move this thread to that forum

In trying to free up and clean up some space on my PC I was doing a defrag and the report listed the file Windows\Debug\UserMode\usernenv.log as not being able to be defragmented. I found the file and it is 4GB big! I looked online to see if I could delete the file, but I didn't find anyone saying it was ok to delete it. Can I actually delete this file? I guess it has a bunch of group policy info it in, but I can't even open the file in wordpad/word/etc to see what is in it. Can I delete this file w/o harming my PC, or am I just gonna have to live with it on my HD?

Q: Userenv

Hi all,a bit of a problem,I think.During the course of using my computer,I keep hearing the sound Xp makes when there is an error.I hope I said that right.I have no spyware or virus and my puter runs really good.Boots ok and shuts down ok with no problems in between.I checked the event viewer just for giggles and under applications ther must be about 50 or so red x's.The error says Userenv event 1041.I googled it to see if I could solve this myself but no luck.I have the userenv.dll in my system folder so I know it's not missing.I downloaded the same dll from the internet so I could maybe try that but it was an earlier version.I'm puzzled because it doesn't seem to affect the computer that I know of.Would anyone have any ideas,Tony.

I'm trying to clean out my huge directories and I ran across this one.

C:\WINDOWS\Debug\UserMode\

The file is userenv.log and it's over 4gb. Is this safe to delete?

And I have tons of these types of hidden files in my C:\WINDOWS directory that I was wondering if I can get rid of as well?

I have discovered a file in my "c" drive I'm not familiar with. It is a text file with note pad. In the file the phrase "error report- impersonate user" appears often and it seems that action has been denied. I'm not really sure. Can someone elaborate? The file is "userenv" and I'm running XP SP2 with .NET framework SP1 at 433 megs. This file is in the debug folder. What is it?

A:userenv question?

Hi, Well here is some stuff I found, maybe you can get something from it, it does look legit though if that is what was bugging you. Basically, in ordinary terms, for ordinary users of XP, it would have to do with the User Shell and help with loading user profiles...as much as I can tell.
Some other things too, depends on what else you do with the computer, running a server, etc...multiple user profiles, too...

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312164

http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=1000&source=userenv

I think you can examine an error file and find out what the problem, if any might be...do you get any errors at any time? Did you upgrade from Windows 2000 Pro?

I keep getting a DCOM error which re-boots my Windows XP SP3 PC. I didn't appear to have a proble prior to upgrading to SP3.

I've looked on the Event Viewer (Systems) and get this message:

"DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{7D096C5F-AC08-4F1F-BEB7-5C22C517CE39}

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

The PC was idle at the time.

Also getting a "userenv" error message on Applications:

"Windows saved user MARTINPC\Owner registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account."

Can anyone suggest how I find out what is causing the problems and how to fix them, please?

Just curious if anyone knows of any sites that may have some detailed listings or information on deciphering information in the userenv.log file?
Such as
MyGetUserName: GetUserNameEx failed with 1753
MyGetUserName: Retrying call to GetUserNameEx in 1/2 second.
{repeat}
GetUserGuid: Failed to get user guid with 1753

I've found a few references online to this problem but the suggested resolutions haven't worked. ei. removing and readding to the 2000 domain, etc.
The prob is that it takes 15 minutes to login to the domain where everything then works fine. This is 2000 pro - none of the NT boxes at this location have any probs. The odd thing is that this computer didn't used to have this problem until it was moved.

I use XP Pro SP3 and have noticed repeated batches of the error Userenv Event error 1041 in Event Viewer. The error Properties are 'Windows cannot query DIIName registry entry for CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D and it will not be loaded. This is most likely caused by a faulty registration'. Scrolling using the arrow reveals a 2nd GUID: 7B849a69-220F-451E-B3F3-2CB811AF94AE. I have searched the Registry for both of these and drawn a blank. The existence of the error has no discernible effect on the operation of the computer but I would like to eliminate the error message if possible. The link to MS support does not help as searching it draws a blank for this error number Userenv. A general search for Userenv error 1041 in Google does produce some results but the solutions are far too complex for a non-specialist and seem to relate to Group policy on a network. I do have a laptop with Vista Home Premium networked through my modem router. Local Area Connection shows no problems in operation. Would be grateful for any advice on this matter.

Hi you tech guys! Thanks for offering your services!

I have a mess now on my hands after I incorrectly removed the wrong program that reminded me of spyware in a panic a couple months ago. I couldn't remember what the name of the program was, I just searched for everything related to what I could remember, one-click answers, and deleted it from my computer everywhere without using the proper add/remove program as Blue Zee was so kind to point out on another thread. But 1-click was the wrong program; I think the one that scared me was starware. Anyway, when I removed 1-click, I removed part of my mecanism to start up and/or download new things, and I can't anymore. Not even Firefox can download some of their stuff. Each time I start my computer I get the noise and a message saying userenv.dll not found. But now, I am getting more and more errors: in the script, shell32.dll, oe0187bff775B4, and the computer freezes and turned off once.

My computer is a Compaq FP745A and uses Millenium 2000 unfortunately.

Blue Zee says that now it's a question for the security experts.

I want to download the CCleaner, but don't know if I can yet. What do you think?

Please help me save my computer!

Grateful,
Inbred

Anyway i tried starting Windows media player & i got the error

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\USERENV.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000428.

So i googled it & some other people had the error to & Microsoft advised people on turning it off in Programs & Features & re-installing it, it doesn't work.....

SO the simple fact is..... Windows Media Player doesn't need the file, like it says - 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\USERENV.dll is either not designed to run on Windows'

So there it is, delete it & it will run fine, i tried, it worked

A:eventlog services

Open the event log on the offending PC, under the Log menu, select log settings. There is a file size and 3 choices for when to overwrite log entries. The default size is 512KB and you could increase this. Depending on whether or not you are concerned with the log events you could set the overwrite events to "As needed". This will prevent the error message from ever occurring again. You can also clear the log and either write the contents to a file or not. Several choices but the easiest if you are not all that concerned about the entries is to set the size to 1024KB and set overwrite as needed. You may want to write to a file before overwriting.

Syslog protocol is supported by almost all network devices and many operating systems. That is why it is a convenient way to organize a common center for collecting information on the network situation. Hello to all of you.

I wish to know the importance of the following windows system files.

1. secli.dll
2. netlogn.dll
3. eventlog.dll

I have seen many a times while the forum guys are helping people in removing the virus/malware etc they are interested in the location of above files. Are they very crucial to the system?

For providing the above information, I am thankful to all of you.

With kind regards.
Manoj

A:secli.dll netlogon.dll eventlog.dll

Presumably you meant: SCECLI.dll, not secli.dll.

Googling all three files, seems to indicate that they are all legitimate Windows files.

Check the properties of each file in Windows\System32 for confirmation.

I don't generally delete files which have presumably been installed by the OS.

This is what appears in my Windows\System32:

All 3 files dated 14.4.2008

At every shutdown, two error warnings were logged in the Application event log by Userenv:

error 1524 ("Windows cannot unload your classes registry file - it is still in use by other applications or services.")
error 1517 ("Windows saved user <user name> registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use. This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.")

I installed Microsoft's UPHClean to aid the unloading of the registry. This works, and it also reports the source of the problem: cpf.exe, a process of Comodo Firewall.

I now wonder: should I leave it at this, or should I go on to try and solve the actual problem (for example by doing what the 1517 warning said: "try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account")? The current setup seems a bit unnatural to me: a service is basically malfunctioning, and I employ another service full-time to keep it in check. What do the experts advise?

Hi guys!

Today i've just realized that i couldn't open my event viewer log. On startup it shows a window with a red X on it.
"Event Log service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running".. I've been peeking in some of other threads in other forums for solutions but they were just the same and it didn't solve the problem. Some of them threads told that its better if you just reinstall whole win7 instead. But i want to run all this through and learn how to solve it in the future if it appears yet again.
Could it be that i replaced a mf.dll file that corrupt the event viewer?

Hello everyone, normally I am fairly proficient with computers and capable of solving computer problems on my own after some google searches and experimenting, but this one is throwing me for a loop.

I have a Windows 7 machine that has one of the cpu cores that keeps getting maxed by svchost.exe (25% overall usage)

Now when I open the resource monitor and find the offending svchost in the overview tab, it is named "svchost.exe (LocalServiceNetworkRestricted)"  Once I tick that one, and then head over to the CPU tab, I find that the offending services are always one of the following 3 Dhcp/Audiosrv/eventlog (sometimes it bounces between the 3, but usually Dhcp is the largest/most common culprit, Audiosrv is second, and eventlog is least)

The system is otherwise running well, I did a scan that found nothing with Nod32 antivirus software that was expired (at which point I uninstlaled it), I have since gotten the free version of Avira, which also found nothing.  MalwareBytes found nothing, and windows defender found nothing.  This leads me to believe its a windows problem, and not a virus/malware issue.

Thanks for the help

Not sure If any malware can do that.

But please do this. Click here to download Hijack This. Run Hijackthis.
Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

*Note: When you download Hijack This Do Not download it to a temp folder or to the desktop. Create a permanent folder somewhere like in My Documents and name it Hijack This and put it in that folder.

Okay, for the past 3 days my laptop has automatically shutdown twice.
My laptop is at least 6 years old and it never acted like this before in his lifetime.
Can anyone tell me what's causing it?

Things to keep in mind are:
- I keep my laptop open usually 24/7
- I don't think it's a virus cause I've never changed my way of using it for the past years and I scan often and it all returned negative (virus, malware, spyware)
- No hardware/software changes so everything is at it's version of when it was working (I don't update)
- Not a heat problem. I monitor my system temperature and it was 65-75?C at the time of shutdown

I've attached the eventlog during shutdown too if that will help.

Thanks!

Hi I'd like to follow up on this stating that I've fixed the problem, but another problem's been happening.

Now, all of a sudden, the computer restarts by itself, when it did this, I bought new RAM for the PC, and I had thought it fixed the issue, but it seems that that's not the case.

I checked my eventviewer and get these errors:

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf845801, parameter3 b4690758, parameter4 00000000.

Error code 00000024, parameter1 001902fe, parameter2 b7cf93f8, parameter3 b7cf90f4, parameter4 f769da71.

can anyone help? I have no idea what any of this means, and any help would be appreciated.

We have an issue wherein a known deleted user account was listed yesterday in our event logs as attempting to access a workstation on our network. There is no record of this user in AD, on the workstation's local users and groups or any other remote access
software. We removed this user's account approximately 1.5 years ago yet it appeared in an audit of the event log.
What steps can we take to ensure that there is no further account for this user beyond Active Directory, the workstation's local users and groups and all remote access software? And what further forensic steps should be taken to discover the source of this
attempted access?

Hi all
How can I remove a custom Eventlog source with PowerShell?
I created a source with the statement
New-Eventlog-LognameApplication-Source"MyCompany"

Then I delete the source "successfully" with
Remove-EventLog-Source"MyCompany"

When I then check the sources, it is still listed as available
Get-EventLog-LogNameApplication|Select-ObjectSource-Unique

Can anybody tell me why this deleted source is still listed?

Thanks for any answer,
Juerg

Hello all,

I've been getting this error in the event log lately. I'm not sure why I am getting this but it's just too annoying. Does anybody know why I'm getting this error? I can see the Smart Card Device from Device Manager and it's not reporting any issues. Thanks for your help!

Hi All,

I have a problem which I originally posted here. I received some initial help from Bobbye, who then suggested I post the problem here.

Here's the original problem description.

On my home Windows XP workgroup I have four PCs (wired connections) and two notebooks (wireless connections) - all running XP Pro (SP3). One PC acts as the main file server - for email storage and to serve two Home Theatre PCs for audio/video streaming. I have an ADSL router which acts as the DHCP server for the network.

One of my HTPCs keeps producing 6004 errors in the event log: "A driver packet received from the I/O subsystem was invalid. The data is the packet."

One of these errors (and only one) is generated every time I browse "My Network Places" on this PC in Windows Explorer and click on a shared folder on any of the other machines in the workgroup. Once connected, I can copy files, play audio/video files from that machine with no further errors. All the other machines are OK - i.e. I can browse shared folders on other machines (including the one with the problem) with no errors in the event log.

So this says to me that the problem is related solely to this one machine. This PC has an inbuilt 100 Mbps Nvidia LAN connection (normally disabled in the BIOS) and a gigabit Realtek card. Thinking this might be hardware related, I re-enabled the 100 Mbps connection and hooked that up to the Ethernet switch instead - but the problem remained.

Every time I boot this system (ASRock Z97 Extreme6/4790K) I get several Event Log Warnings that seem to indicate that the system is not connected to the Internet. Yet... everything works as it should and I never see another warning of this type until I boot the next time. I have attached a snapshot of the Event Log. It almost seems like the system is too fast and tries to do a few things before the Internet connection is up and running? I have another W8 system (ZSRock Z77 OC Formula/3770K) and it does not get these errors at boot time. I took a shortcut and used a copy of the Z77 OC Formula/3770K W8 system and updated it with the Z97 Extreme6 drivers, etc. for this system. Could this be the problem? Short of doing a fresh install of W8.1 Update 1, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A:Basket of Eventlog Warnings at boot time?

You would need to click on the event, to see what is causing it. Then go and correct the problem.

Hello.

Truly hoping the fine folks of this forum can help me solve the mystery of the random shutdowns. I guess I'd be considered an average+ Windows user and have explored this forum in depth but didn't find quite the same issues as others.

Basically, I'm experiencing random shutdowns. Usually happens when watching youtubes/videos. Or, if no video, then on a page in IE that refreshes content after the page is loaded (ex: using the # search feature on Twitter.com). There is no BSOD - the computer just shuts down with no warning.

So far I have:
- run CCleaner & Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- deleted Flash completely and have not re-installed
- run sfc /scannow with no integrity violations
- explored the possibility of COM Surrogate DLLHost.exe trouble - and therefore run Process Monitor, set the filter to include DLLHost.exe and stopped running after 125,000+ events by 1% complete
- took a look at the Event Viewer and found Critical Kernel-Power event ID 41 Task Category (63) and Error EventLog 6008. These are from today - there have been a total of 10 instances since March and 2 in November 2015.
- attached the DM Log

The computer is probably 5-6 years old and these problems have been recurring for a couple of months now. And it's maddening, as I'm sure you all know.

Any/all help with diagnosing and treating the problem(s) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, in advance.

Dear all,

I encounter a strange error in the eventlog every time I start the my notebook, which I was not able to resolve.
I would really appreciate the help of the experts in this great forum!

Some information on my machine: I use Windows 8.1 Pro which is otherwise showing no errors at all. I regularly maintain it.

I already tried the "standard" procedures like:
-) Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc/scannow&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc/scannow&pause
-) chkdsk /f /r

I don't use tuningtools like regcleaners :-)

My drivers are all updated.

So here is the error in XML format:

Think back on when this entry began appearing with frequency if hardware drivers installation or update had been done. My guess is the process left a 'snag'. If the driver is identified, then an uninstall and clean install of the latest might do the trick.

Did some digging. Installed Win DBG and took a look at the LiveKernel .dmp files. One showed NVlDDMKM.sys as a probable cause. So that led to a clean install of Nvidia drivers.

Fingers crossed that this is/was the trouble.

New problem: When I use the Event Log Online link to check errors in Event log, I get something along the lines of the dialog below.

Hi, I hope someone out there can shed a little light on this situation as it's doing my nut in!

We have a network with 3 Windows 2003 servers and workstations all with XP. When the users log in a script runs which maps network drives and pushes printer connections etc. Also we have several group policies set which restrict pupils and staff in certain ways. Nothing drastic though. Just 'Cant see certain Control Pannel Items etc'.

Now all was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago 2 staff members came to me and said "I can't get on the interenet or e-mail". I had a look and when they logged in on their normal computer it seemed to log in fine but then receieved a couple of "Cannot perform this action due to restrictions on effect on this computer" messages. This message also appears when they try to click on the Internet for example. On closer inspection it has run the scripts ok because I have the shared drives and printers. But the virus scanner which is sophos in our case hasn't loaded (it comes down from the server), also there is no All Programs in the start menu, or shut down.

If I log off and check the event viewer I have event 1030 there which refers to an error with group policy.

Now the most annoying problem is it appears completly random with it's timing. Usually a shut down and restart of the computer fixes it. Moving to another computer can also fix it. It dosent always do it on the same computers, other peolpe can log on to ... Read more

Hello, we have recently purchased several HP Elitebook 1030 G1 notebooks. These come with Windows 10 out of the box, and no discs at all. HP seem to offer a Windows 7 recovery disc via drivers & downloads but this only seems to be for drivers and applications post-Windows 7 install. We still use Windows 7 (Enterprise x64) deploying via SCCM. As the laptop doesn't have a LAN port HP support suggested getting an HP USB-C to Ethernet adapter, but this doesn't seem to help with PXE boot. So moving onwards, I then attempted to do a manual install of Windows 7 x64 via USB. Initially it didn't even boot without turning off secure boot and turning on legacy boot. As the laptop has an M.2 ssd it is not even found by the setup process. I have now gone through adding sata and usb3 drivers via dism to boot+install wim's and also an MS hotfix for NVMe support (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941). Unfortunately after all this it is still not able to see the hard drive. Unless I am going blind I cannot see any information about this on HP Support. Has anyone done this on this model notebook or similar (ie M.2 ssd)? Thanks

I am totally obsessed with downloading music, but awhile ago I attemped to download an upgrade to the basic Kazaa system. Once I had fully downloaded the upgrade I went to click on Kazaa and a message popped up saying," You have uninstalled a part of Kazaa needed to run and to close and reinstall." I noticed my wireless 1030 is acting strange after getting BSOD(not the cause of Wireless but it was solved)and now I'm experiencing some problems, here are the issue. I'm worried if it is the NIC card

1.like it takes a while to connect to a certain webpage then whenI looked up on Event viewer it stated in the lines of Google too long to respond DNS

2. sometimes the wireless would switch off by itself and when I try to reconnect to my home router it says "Cannot find my router* yet I can see it shows my wireless router is available then when I look up event viewer it states " NETBIOS over TCPIP has entered Stop state".

I would have to click on

*Troubleshoot Problems which then would let me reconnect back in the router*

3. I have been getting this new event viewer error 5060:
The description for Event ID 5060 from source NETwNs64 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

A:I'm having wireless Issues with the Intel 1030,Turning off by itself

It almost sounds like a nic driver issue. Have you updated it recently? Try to update, or roll-back if update did not work.
Replacing your nic should not be to hard depending on your device. Usually the nic is the easiest of the add-on boards to get to. But, I really don't think it's the nic. Were you changing, installing, updating anything with your hardware, operating system when this happened? If driver update/rollback doesn't work, try a system restore if feasible.

Hello, i have an HP Touchsmart 520-1030, and i wish to upgrade it with i3-3225 processor that i own. Tried to replace it with mine i3-2120, but pc just does not boot. Any way to upgrade bios to support ivy bridge processors? For now i have latest bios 7.12. I see the only difference between models that support ivy and not, is MB name Lavaca3SB[supports ivy] and LavacaSB[does not]. Is it the same mb and i can install Lavaca3SB's bios to mine LavacaSB board or this will not work that way?

hi!

hello, first off i have scanned with adaware pro se, spybot, and h2, also mcafee antivirus and a couple of online scanners--this is what remains

i have some pesky files burrowed into my pooter, i am pretty sure the files in the temp folder are bad....but when i search for the executable, all i can find are prefetch files....i think the prefetch files are generating the temp files...

i have used msconfig to stop some files from statring, and that has stopped an error screen that displayed this message at start up everytime:

i reactivated them in msconfig for this logfile...

also- whenever i turn on the computer, it frezzes up after booting to windows, i found that killing all the rundll32.exe files make it able to run again!!!!!!

so they must be bad, too...

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to use the XP drivers and install them in compatibilty mode.

Here's a link to the XP Home/Pro 32-Bit Drivers
Brother Solutions Center: HL-1030: Downloads: Others

To run the installer in compatibility mode:

Right Click Installer > Properties > Compatibility > Select the OS you want. (In this case, XP)

The video card in my Pavilion h8-1030 died and I need to find a replacement. If possible, I'd like to upgrade the card at the same time to the best possible card that would work on this system, within on total $350 budget. Being overly optimistic and with a big dose of wishful thinking I had actually ordered a MSO GeForce GTX 970 , but before it arrived I read that it will not work as teh BIOS version cannot be upgraded to version 8. So I am sending that card back as soon as it arrives. I am unable to buy a whole new computer at this time, so I'm going to have to settle for a new GPU (and PSU if needed). I don't game but I do use Adobe CC 2015 applications, mostly photoshop adn lightroom but ocasionally also premiere and in-design. Before failing the old card was struggling with certian photoshop functions and video editing was slow and frustrating. This is why I would like to upgrade the GPU. Motherboard H-RS880-uATX (Aloe)Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1090TMemory 10 GBBIOS, American Megatrends Inc. 6.12 Is there a list of compatible GPUs? Thank you ever so much for your help.

A:what Video Card upgrades are possible for Pavilion h8-1030?

Hi, The version 6 BIOS in your PC is not compatible with many of the newer graphics cards.  You will need to use an older legacy graphics card in your PC.  The processor and memory in your PC are more than sufficient for most use. I suggest that you look for a NVIDIA GTX 660 for around $226 new on Amazon. You can find the GTX 660 on eBAY for a lot less.  You will also need to replace the power supply. The Corsair CX650m should be around $55 after rebate.

These event just started appearing a day or two ago, but they continue to repeat every 5 minutes:

Event 1030:
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Event 1058:
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=bbpi-pdc,DC=billsblue,DC=com. The file must be present at the location <\\bbpi-pdc.billsblue.com\sysvol\bbpi-pdc.billsblue.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (Windows cannot find the network path. Verify that the network path is correct and the destination computer is not busy or turned off. If Windows still cannot find the network path, contact your network administrator. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
They occur exactly every five minutes, and always in this order. I searched for the gpt.ini file it's looking for and found it.

I don't really have any group policies in place, just basic users and computers. Nothing fancy. And I'm afraid I don't quite understand AD enough to just 'experiment' until I make these error go away.

Any ideas and/or guidance would be welcome.... thanks

One possibility:
As per Microsoft: "This behavior may occur if the following conditions are true: your Windows XP-based computer is a member of a domain, and the Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS) client is turned off (disabled). To resolve this issue, turn on (enable) the DFS client". See M314494 to find out how to do this. Also check M810907 for a hotfix.

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem. Intel released new drivers to update from version 15.11 to 16.11. I downloaded them from Intel website, ran install, success. When I go into Device Manager to check on the driver version, I see it is still 15.11. I have tried a number of things, including deleting the drivers from the Device Manager and running the install again. However, in this case Windows 8 automatically installs even older drivers, version 14, dated 2011. I'd like to try the new drivers because it takes very long for the net to comeback after I wake up my laptop. Version 15.11 was installed by Windows Update, those drivers are dated January 2014.

Hello,

I sent my computer in for repairs a while back and now the wireless card won't work. It can't find any signals unless I plug in the one from my desktop. I went to computer/properties/device manager and saw that the wireless card (Intel (R) Centrino (R) Wireless-N 1030) has a yellow "!" next to it. The properties tab says, "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".

I have tried searching for new drivers automatically but it says they are up to date. I downloaded the latest drivers directly from Intel and tried to manually update them but it said that the drivers are up to date again. This problem occurs whenever I update my computer. I did a system restore and it worked fine for about a month, but once it updated it did the same thing again. There is no restore point to go to this time, so I'm stuck.

Anyone know what I should do?

Thanks

Hello, Wireless functionality was lost on my HP Pavillion dv7t-6c00 laptop when I upgraded to Windows 10. Here's what I have in my laptop now: Manufacturer: Intel CorporationDescription: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030Driver version: 15.11.0.8 I've read some support threads on this topic and it seems that this wireless card is not supported by Intel in Windows 10. I've also read that one suggestion is to replace the wireless card with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card. I tried to replace the wireless card prior to upgrading to Windows 10 with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card but the wireless card I purchased seemed incompatible with the laptop, as it gave me a Halted screen when I started up the laptop.  So my frustration is I would gladly and easily replace the wireless card but I can't keep purchasing cards that are incompatible with the laptop. What are my options?  Is there a specific/guarenteed HP Laptop compatible part number that I can purchase?   Even better, is there a link to where I can purchase a card that will definitely work? Thank you ver much,Chris

I have a relatively new (few months) laptop of my own running Win7 x64 with an "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030" wireless network adapter. For some reason, I have serious problems connecting to most wireless networks. On my home network there are rarely problems, but when I attempt to any other network (college, or public hotspot, or neighbor's open wireless) there are often issues.

By "issues" I mean: when I first attempt to connect to the network in question, I'm usually able to connect to the first few sites I try to access, but usually after a second or a minute or a few minutes of normal connectivity, I'm suddenly unable to access anything. The browser's response is that DNS lookup has failed; when I record an IP address (via ping-command prompt) and type it in manually after this point, the browser's response is that "##.##..." is taking too long to respond, etc..." No other program is able to connect either. I have tried setting different DNS servers but it has had no visible effect. At this point, the only thing I can do to reconnect is to either wait a long time for the connection to reestablish itself (which can take an hour or more and isn't guaranteed) or to go to Device Manager and disable and reenable the wireless adapter, which then *sometimes* allows me to reconnect for a few seconds or a minute or an hour before connectivity breaks again. A:Unreliable connectivity - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

I had the same issue too. My GF's laptop has a 1030 wireless NIC and it had all sorts of issues connecting to the APs in my house. It would work fine with her Linksys wireless router and my Sprint MiFi. But had connectivity/performance problems when connecting to either of my Netgear APs (WG102 and WNDAP350) along with my PC W 620 wireless controller with AP 105 and AP 125 access points. Updating the drivers helped the problem somewhat, but we were still experiencing dropped packets or extremely high latency when connected. Upon a suggestion from one of my coworkers, I tried adjusting the performance/power settings in Windows and that seemed to have fixed the problem. The laptop has been running fine ever since.

Hello all,
OK so I do have Event Forwarding working - but I've noticed that when it's first configured I get messages similar to:
The description for Event ID 104 from source Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
The locale specific resource for the desired message is not present
If I alter the subscription (wecutil ss subname /cf:events) the forwarded events are rendered correctly.
However a product we are evaluating (which depends on event forwarding to work) always ends up with a couple of mal-rendered lines - always look something like:
Required Privs: %9
I built a standalone AD domain and joined the same 'problem' clients to this domain and re-configured Event Forwarding - there was no need to change the subscription format type to "events" and the events were forwarded correctly and also
the product we are looking at worked straight away.
It seems that when event forwarding is configured in our live domain (or any of the test labs we have) I always get the attached errors....
I've read a number of blogs that describe the issue and most recommend altering the subscription format - this however ... Read more

today i decided to finally plunge into windows 10 from windows 7 64bit, during my time with windows 7 it has been, more or less, flawless.

I decided to upgrade (i cant exactly clean install due to the nature of my config, i cant reinstall some programs, files arent consolidated for migration, etc)

Windows 10 is growing on me, however i like peeking into the eventlog now and again to see if there are any errors, i spent time cleaning up my windows 7 event log to prevent errors from showing (troubleshooting potential problems etc)

however in windows 10 i am seeing non-familiar errors in my event logs.
i would greatly appreciate it if someone can help me with these errors:

"The User Data Storage_3ff38/User Data Access_3ff38/Sync Host_3ff38/Sync Host_3ff38/Contact Data_3ff38/ service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service: event 7031"

"The server {7006698D-2974-4091-A424-85DD0B909E23} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout: Event id 10010"
about 100 different combination of this
"Task Scheduler service found a misconfiguration in the NT TASK\Microsoft\Windows\Media Center\ActivateWindowsSearch definition. Additional Data: Error Value: %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehPrivJob.exe. Event 414"
"The NLS operation failed because the registry key Control Panel\Int... Read more

My Event Viewer is also full of errors although the system is pretty much rock solid.

I saw some people having trouble with extremely slow wireless connections using an Intel Centrino Wireless n-1030 card. The original thread is closed, so the problem may already be solved, but if anyone is still experiencing this problem, here is what worked for me:

This NIC is a dual band card (802.11 + bluetooth), and with some routers having the bluetooth enabled really slowed down the 802.11n connection (it didn't seem to happen with my netgear router, but when I switched to linksys, WHAMMO!).

Anyway, when I disabled the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager the problem was completely solved (uhhhh except I need to use a dongle to make my bluetooth mouse work now... small price to pay IMO)

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience. Hope it can help someone.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Also...

Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

So this really irritates me because I just spent hundreds of dollars sending my laptop to HP last year because the hard drive completely failed. I have a 1TB hybrid hard drive and 22Gb solid state used for caching.  When I booted up my computer Intel Rapid Storage Technology said there was an issue.  When I opened it, it says that the status of: SATA disk (932 GB)(System) Accelerated, is Failed.  My SATA_Array_0001 22GB is fine though.  So I ran a System Quick Test, everything passed except Hard Drive Short DST Check: FAILEDFAILURE ID: Q4MP7Q-6RA82U-MFGJWK-60W303 This is weird because other than the computer telling me there is something wrong every time I restart it, It seems to run just fine.  Im just worried because I don't want it to randomly die on me one day.

A:SATA disk failed and Hard Drive Short DST Check: Failed

Hi there @nmulji,  Thank you for joining in on the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I read your post on the HP Support Forums and understand that the Hard Drive in your HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j100 Select Edition CTO Notebook PC failed the Short DST Check.  SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology System) uses a technology known as predictive failure analysis to tell you when a hard drive failure is imminent. Have you tried to Restore the BIOS? If not, please try this step first. Then, just to be on the safe side, back up your data that way it does not get lost. However, there might be certain conditions that cause a hard drive failure message to display when a problem does not exist (a false positive). To fix false positive hard drive errors, please try updating the hard drive firmware. You can check whether an update is available by going to the  Get software and drivers page. You will need to put in your Model Number and then click the links that pertain to the computer configuration and see if a hard drive update is available.  You could also try to do a  Disk Defragment to consolidate files and move them to another section of the drive where errors are less likely to occur. Did this reply resolve your issue or answer your question? If... I installed the latest round of Windows updates for my Win7 x64 install and it never completed (ran for about 24 hours) so I powered off the machine. Upon restarting, it said:

Code:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" and has instructions for using system repair, then at the bottom:

File: \Boot\BCD
Status: Oxc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
So I booted off a Windows recovery disk and figured Startup Repair would fix it. Alas, after it says "Windows found problems with your computer's startup options" and asks me if I want to repair, I click "repair and restart" and it says "Failed to save startup options".

Code:
The "repair details" are:
Name: {bootmgr}
Identifier: {...}

The following options will be added:
Name: Windows Recovery Environment (recovered)
Path: Recovery\...\Winre.wim
Windows Device: Partition=D:
I've tried running Startup Repair from the manual options screen and it says it cannot repair automatically. I have two partitions, the 100MB windows System partition, which Recovery Console mounts as C:\ and my main windows partition, which it mounts as D: and I can see all of my files on it.

Running "bootrec /repairbcd" gives me "Total identified Windows Installations: 0"

I'm not sure if there might be something fishy with the way it's detecting my partition table... Read more

A:Windows 7 update failed and laptop won't boot. Startup repair failed

Have you run bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot?
Then, if it doesn't boot, run bootrec /RebuildBcd (from this KB article: How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows )

c0000005 is STATUS_NO_SUCH_FILE - which means it can't find File: \Boot\BCD

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

You have two anti-virus programs running, which will cause trouble. Uninstall one of them. Restart the machine and post a new HJT log.

Download this tool to your desktop:
http://www.uploads.ejvindh.net/rootchk.exe
Run the program. After a short time a logfile will turn up. Copy the contents of the log into the thread.

Notice: Some security-programs prevent the creation of dummy drivers with certain names. This may cause false positives. If the log of rootchk contains a lot of hidden drivers, you may want to turn of your security programs while rootchk is scanning (you should then unhook your network connection as well)

I am deploying my Windows RT 8.1 application and I get the following message;

Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CF3, Package failed updates,

dependency or conflict validation.
Windows cannot install package  because this package depends on another package that could not be found. This package requires minimum version 12.0.21005.1 of framework Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00 published by any publisher to install.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.1\ExtensionSDKs\Microsoft.VCLibs\12.0

I was able to deploy my application before OK. I do not know why it is going wrong now, how do I fix this?

I have three users on a Windows 7 computer. none will log on, they all give "Windows failed the logon. the remote procedure call failed and did not execute" it doesn't matter how many time i reboot the computer, all three accounts same error. Googling the problem produces spammy results. exact quote produces "no results for" "searching without quotes" message

A:Windows failed the logon. the remote procedure call failed and did not execute

Have you tried booting in "Safe Mode" and see if the problem persists.
