Solved: A sort of DNS Configuration Error?

Q: Solved: A sort of DNS Configuration Error?

I have a laptop that on my wireless school network would connect fine and automatically. The network is a guest network so it is unsecured. I recently had to reinstall the operating system on my laptop to fix several access rights errors and others (reinstalled Vista). After the reinstall I am having a lot of trouble accessing the internet on the school network. The network and sharing chart will occasionally show that I'm connected to the public network and it will also go all the way through to internet access but my pages wont load and I don't have connection (I use google chrome as my browser but thats not the issue).

I've tried:

-Pinging common websites, it comes back and tells me that I have entered the name wrong which is odd.
-Restarting my computer
-Restarting my laptops wireless adapter
-Checked wireless connections at my house and at other network in my computer engineering class, all of which give me full access to the internet.
-Check DNS information I get a DNS error from doing a diagnosis(this I may not have done right so more information would be great). The diagnosis says I can't connect to www.microsoft.com common dns server
-When it says I have internet and I go to a page I get a error about not being able to resolve the server
-Disabling DNS prefetching
-My own IP is pingable which is normal.
Hopefully I can get this fixed soon because several of my classes are online classes at school which will end up forcing me to do a bunch of it at home. Any help greatly appreciated!

If I use custom sort it puts data at top of the list and not somewhere in the middle of the column & then one has to on a hunting mission to find it. Same thing can be done with using conditional format to format entire column to highlight all the values eg 282.03 then color sort puts all at top of list but this is time consuming and would take a lot more computing power and slow things down on big sheets.

c=282.03 <this is a variable amount

Application.Goto Reference:="R47C4"
ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("zoo").AutoFilter.Sort.SortFields.Clear
ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("zoo").AutoFilter.Sort.SortFields.Add Key:= _
ActiveCell.Range("A1:A50000"), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, _
CustomOrder:="282.03", DataOption:=xlSortNormal
With ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("zoo").AutoFilter.Sort
.Header = xlYes
.MatchCase = False
.Orientation = xlTopToBottom
.SortMethod = xlPinYin
.Apply
End With

but if i replace CustomOrder:="282.03" with customorder:"c" it chucks a tantrum.
Probably a very simple solution but it eludes me..........I have tried various variations without
success.

Hello all,

I was wondering if there was any way to solve the Dell Plug & Play Configuration Error on startup. I've read that it has to do with the IRQ, the CMOS battery or maybe even a bad motherboard.

I've got a monitor/color problem. It's tinted green and it's dull. Could this be a symptom?

I'm pretty tech savvy but I don't know much about editing the BIOS.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed? I'm going to reformat the HD anyways. Do you think that will help?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I'm not sure whether this question belongs in a software forum or this one, but when I now attempt to open any of my files of saved pictures I'm getting the following message; "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.'

What application is it referring to? I do not know what application is used to open up pictures, so I don't know what to attempt reinstalling to hopefully correct the problem.

Anyone have an idea of what this application is or how I could determine what it is?....or what this new problem may be?

Thanks...

Windows 7 x64 system installed last week. All has gone well until a while ago...Adobe Acrobat downloaded an update and installed it, then asked to restart the machine.

At restart Windows quit and offered to restart normally or to repair itself. I let it try to repair itself, but it repeatedly failed, with the error:

*Boot configuration is corrupt.
Result: Failed. Error code=0x490*

In addition, I noticed that windows apparently is not finding the boot drive...looking at the repair log I saw:

System Disk=\Device\Harddisk\Windows directory-\\?\GLOBAL ROOT\Device\Harddisk1\Partition2\Windows

Windows appears to be looking at the wrong disk...it's installed on a new drive with only one partition. Using the Command Prompt option in the repair window, I could not access the *real* drive "C" (Drive 0), only Drive 1, which has two partitions for D and E.

Hiren's Boot CD running NTFS4DOS does not see drive 0 at all and also shows Drive 1, Partition 1 as drive C. Hiren's mini-WinXP shows a drive C designated as "System Reserved" - and shows Drive 1 as drives D and E on its partitions 1 and 2 respectively.

Mini-WinXP shows the otherwise elusive disk 0 as disk F.

I could sure use some ideas for a fix...I didn't have many to begin with and by now I'm down to none! Thanks in advance, if anyone can help.

Hi I have this assignment for school, I think I did everything except the step number 9 and 11, it seems I do something wrong or not sure about that. How to SORT THE DATASHEET in descending order and how to Sort YOUR TABLE in ascending order? Is there difference how to sort "your table" and "the datasheet".
Also in step 10) they are asking to close the datasheet view without saving changes, does it means I just right click on the table and "close it"? Sorry for my explanation, but it is difficult for me to explain this things and ask right questions. I attached the steps I have to do, I believe I did everything except the step 9) and 11)
I have Access 2013)

2. Create a Table in DESIGN VIEW
3. Define the following fields as follows:

DRIVER ID AUTONUMBER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
FIRST NAME TEXT DRIVER'S FIRST NAME
LAST NAME TEXT DRIVER'S LAST NAME
AGE NUMBER DRIVER'S AGE (No decimals)
COUNTRY TEXT DRIVER'S COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
(USE TAB OR ENTER KEY TO MOVE FROM ONE AREA TO THE NEXT ONE)

4. Create a Primary Key on the field DRIVERID

5. SAVE YOUR TABLE AS: LOCATION

CLICK ON DATASHEET VIEW TO SEE TABLE

6. ENTER THE FOLLOWING DATA:

A:how to sort datasheet and how to sort tables-what is the difference pl

Hi florida2001. When you set up your table did you create a field for each item?. In other words do you have a field for 1st Name & a new field for Last name & a new field for each of the others.
If you do have separate field for each then for your (9) answer Select the Last name field & click the Filter icon from the Home view & sort descending order order. This should give you the name in the first record closest to Z.
For (11) answer Select the Age column & then in the Home view Select the Binocular icon, it will ask you to find what, so type in 32.
Hope this helps. I also use Access 2013.

Hello all,
I have a dell inspiron 1420 laptop using windows vista home premium x32.
I have Windows 7 ultimate x32 in my usb and when I boot it up... and go through the installation menus until I get to that one part where I have to choose either "upgrade" or "Custom" there is a problem.

I do not want to loose my files at all nor do I want to back them up... I have so much installed that I just dont wanna go thorugh the process of reinstalling all my software and etc. I beleive the option I should choose is "upgrade" so I go and click it and this comes up:

Quote:
the computer started using the windows installation disk. remove the installation disc and restart your computer so that windows starts normally. then insert the installation disc and restart the upgrade(do notselect "custom(advanced)" to perform an upgrade." custom(advanced) installs a new copy of windows and deleted your programs and settings.)

A:Upgrading from vista to xp, some sort of error

That's normal.

When you're doing an upgrade-in-place from Vista to Win7, you boot the PC into Vista, and launch the Win7 DVD from within Vista.

I hope that you have a backup (image) of the Vista installation on the Inspiron. Upgrading the OS is like surgery: it'll probably be OK, but there's a small chance that there will be complications.

It'd also be good to have installation media for most of your software. An upgrade-in-place is supposed to preserve installed software, but some programs may not work properly. All of your stuff may be OK, but it's not guaranteed.

Well, I did some research, and i ended up downloading a knoppix CD for the ntfsfix tool. So, i ran that, and it works, sort of. When i boot up windows, chkdsk wants to run, and i allowed it. So, it does its business, takes a really long time, maybe 2 hrs. everythings normal, then it wants me to shut down, so i do that, and windows restarts. When that happens, the 0x00000024 error occurs again. So, i redo the ntfsfix command form knoppix and get it working again. If i skip the chkdsk, windows works perfectly fine, but anytime i restart the PC the chkdsk tries to run again. What should i do from here? i don't really know what specific question TO ask. but, is the ntfs fixed, and i just need to terminate the chkdsk at startup, and if so, how do i do that? or is there something else i should be asking?

A:Fixed 0x00000024 error... sort of?

The only column I need to sort is giving me issues whenever I click on the sort button on the column header.
I get the message dialogue: "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression "Item Number".
I can't seem to figure out how to fix. Even my other lookup columns are sorting fine.

I'm attaching the problem file that shows what my problem is.

You can find it under [Worksheet], then try to sort the Line Item column, and it'll prompt an error. I'm trying to remove this error so I can eventually Split the Database!

Thank you!

A:Can't sort Column (Syntax Error)

I'm no good at MS Access but I did see that the Line Item is a combined field and I think that's the problem, if you sort the column on the right of it it works but I think it's because of the way the field is built up.

Take a look under design and you'll see it under Sorting, itá already sorted.

I've spent the last few hours trying sort this out and in that time HiJack.com kept being closed by windows due to error, the computer is even more sluggish than usual and a 'spyware warning (i think related to the security system warnin) keeps popping out of my right hand toolbar.
Additionally I ran anti-virus and quarantined four trojans. Please take a look at my logfile and help me straighten this out.

I hope this is not what they are planning on selling us. Some navigational issues, over all it's nice. I was hoping it would not be a dressed up and revamped version of XP. I'm not quite sure it's not yet. I will get deep into the system in the next few day. I want to hear others thoughts please.

A:Solved: I sort of like it

I forgot I got the 64 edition. I wanted to take advantage of my CPU. I never had XP 64. So I thought it's only an eval, get the 64 system. I like the new Explorer, I am actually impressed so far with it.

Hi today i tried uninstalling bearshare as it was annoying me and i didn't want it on my comp in the first place (long story) anyways when i go to uninstall it using add/remove, it looks like its doing something, like it shows the uninstallation bar but whe i cheack if the file is there it is and i am able to actually run the program. All it derltes is the install.log file and some other folders. I don't know what is up but it is starting to make me angry

A:Solved: sort of a problem.....

If you're unable to get BearShare to uninstall in the Add/Remove Programs list, do the following:

1. Open the C:\PROGRAM FILES folder and delete the entire BearShare folder.

2. Click Start - Run, type in REGEDIT, then click OK. When the registry editor opens, click the + in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software

In the "Software" menu of both, scroll down until you find a folder for BearShare. Right-click directly on the BearShare folder, then click Delete - Yes. Close the registry editor.

3. Go here so you can install EasyCleaner 2.0.6.380. Start the program, click the "Registry" button, click "Find", allow the scan to finish, click "Select All - Delete All", wait for the entries to be deleted, then click "Close". Click the "Unnecessary" button, place a checkmark in the top 3 squares, click "Find", allow the scan to finish, click "Select All - Delete All", wait for the entries to be deleted, then click "Close". Close the program.

4. Reboot.

The above steps should clean out 99.9% of BearShare from your computer.

Hello,

I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
I have plugged in two different SATA drives (not at the same time) in my system.
Just extra HDDs.
They show in the Bios, the F12 boot list, & Device Manager.
I can not get them to show up & display a drive letter in My Computer so I can actually access?
Thoughts, advice?

hi there i made this computer my self i made it to play World Of Warcraft when i go onto "can you run it" i am over the recommended but when i play the game i lag a lot and i am playing on the lowest settings with about 11MB of addons running still even with this spec
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 GAMING (MS-7816)
PSU: Corsair CX750 ATX
i have enabled OC Genie in the bios settings that is ment to overlock the comp to its safest possible and i use MSI gaming app and Razor Cortex

i have attached Speccy and CPU-Z i dont know what else to add

A:Solved: Can you run it says yes but computer says no (sort of :P)

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Your rig should run WoW on better setting than that, I played it about 6-8 months ago on a similar system (older i5 CPU, GTX570 and 8GB RAM) and could run it on high - ultra most of the time.

FYI - I have flagged your post to the moderators to remove the Speccy file. It was good to list it for information about your system, however it also contains your Windows produce key which you really don't want to be advertising online If you want to edit the file to remove the key and re-upload it fine, however a better option is to publish the report online through Speccy, this will remove that sort of info.

1.In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
2.In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
3.Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

The main potential limitation could be your PSU. The CX series are not good quality and only really any use for basic build using integrated graphics cards, even Corsair say this about them on their websites. You really do need a good quality unit to power a gaming rig. Having said that, the voltages look OK currently in Speccy but could do with a look at them under load.

Do you play any other games?
If yes, do you have similar problems?

Your temperatures look ok for idle temps, but again would be useful to see what its doing under load.

Hi all

First I would like to thank everyone for trying to find the solution to the Display problem that I was having. It was appreciated. I sure did learn a lot trying to fix it.

I had the problem of losing my settings in Display and not being able to get to the device manager to fix the problem. I tried for a month and finally got too frustrated with the problem and did a reformat. I was very nervous doing this but all turned out just fine. Sure is nice to be back to normal again.

I would like to remind everyone to make sure that they have the code that is asked for from Microsoft when you go to reinstall Windows. I had put mine away (too well as it turns out) and of course couldn't find it right away when needed. Now it is written down in three different place.

Keep up the good work guys. Don't know what we would do without your help.

Hi,

I see to have a host of tracking software and bugs on my computer, it's driving me crazy.
I think all of my browers have been hijacked, Opera, Mozilla and IE. I used to be able to just type the name of a url and hit enter, when i do that now it takes me to the same default search engine, some company i never heard of. Before I ran some spyware programs my computer was crashing all the time. Now, its just my browser that seems to be crashing. I used to also get some sort of runtime c+++ error every time I tried to open anything on my computer. The only files that were accesable were theones on my desktop. After I ran avast, that problem seems to have stopped. I have lost sound on most of my programs, video functionality is also inconsistent. Whenever I open a browser, I get a message that tells me there has been a shockwave problem and things willnot run properly. The message appears a few more times than my browser crashes. Plus on top of all this, I have a cable connection and my system runs at snales pace both when im on the internet and from a wndows standpoint.

I've downloaded hijack this and dont really understand what to make of this log. Any help would be very much appreciated. i think you guys/gals ROCK.

My HP 845C died last night after many years service, and I need to buy a new printer.

Not sure of the difference between laser and deskjet printers so thought I would ask the question here.
Officeworks has the HP Officejet pro K5300 advertised at $87.

i use the printer for home use and rarely print any photographs.

I need a printer that has double sided Printing (duplex i think they call it) capabilities.

Given that I was satisfied with the 845C would the K5300 be comparable?

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron 6000, and I'm having trouble sorting my program folders and programs under the All Programs menu. I know that you can right-click in an open area under All Programs and a menu box will (should) appear and allow you to sort the program folders/programs by a variety of different criteria.

When I right-click under All Programs, I can briefly see a menu box flash on the screen, and then immediately disappear - but obviously faster than I can react and select the option to resort the content alphabetically. Is there another strategy to get to these program folders/programs, where I can exercise the option to sort them, other than the one I've tried - which is not working for me. Alternately, a solution to get the menu window to stay open, will also be the fix that gets me to my ultimate objective. Thanks.

You must right click on one of the Programs and not in a empty area. Try it.

I was able to do this before in 2003, I have searched the help file and searched on here, the only other post suggested someone send the file and now its closed, and so far in my search of the net none have solutions to it or if they found one there is no detail on what they did.

In Windows Explorer, I have set to sort files by name in ascending order and to group by nothing. The files are in an approximate order by name; but, many files are out of order and only near where they should be. In the attached screen shot, only the right-hand column is relevant to the question. Please note that "201306events" comes before files with lower names such as "20130516beachparty".

How do I fix this?

I built a PC for my sister several months ago, and it was running fine until last weekend. They had a power outage (the PC was on a surge protector however, and it was a full outage, not just a surge). Now, the computer will boot, but won't get past simply listing the processor and that Dual-Memory mode is active. It doesn't even get to the point that'd normally be on the same screen where it lists all SATA devices, etc. I can't access the BIOS or boot menu, but keyboard support is active, at least for a second. Do you think the problem is the BIOS itself or the entire motherboard? The PC is running WIn 7, which doesn't really seem relevant, since it can't even get to the point that it would try to read the hard drives. The motherboard is an AS Rock K10N78M. The RAM, HD's, and graphics card all appear to be fine. I can understand some function of the mobo possibly having been fried, but if it's just the BIOS, I don't really understand how a power outage would have affected it.

A:Solved: PC Won't Boot (Sort Of)

Well, I managed to reset the BIOS using the jumper on the mobo, but at first it basically seemed to have the same problem with it not doing anything (only now with the original AS Rock boot-up image stuck there instead) but after about 1/2 an hour, the damn thing just seemed to fix itself and is back to running normally. I'd still sure like to know why it would take so long to boot after a power outage and then just go back to being normal.

My business partner sent me some files over email but I can't read them ... they're all .wps or something and I was wondering if there's any way I can convert them so they'll open with Microsoft Word.

A:Solved: HELP!!!! sort of a rush on this

The file was created with Microsoft Works.
There are converters out there, but I have never used them so I can't recommend one. Do a google search for .wps to .doc and you should be able to find one easily.

The quickest way to read that file, if you have Adobe installed, would be to right click on it, choose print and print it to a PDF. Then view the PDF.

A:Solved: Sort Folder by Name Automatically

first off, you want to avoid all automated registry cleaners like the plague. They do far more harm than good.

As to your issue, aside from hoping that nothing is seriously cratered, best thing you can do is to sort one the way you want it and then hit the folder dialog box and set all folders to open like that one. If that doesn't work, the registry cleaner may have done some permanent damage.

I've got a Dell Latitude D830 running Windows XP. I've had this problem for a while now, (I often choose to ignore and adapt rather than fix), but I can't stand it anymore!

I don't even know how to explain this! I'll just give an example of what happens:

I'm writing in word, and I'm typing and typing and then suddenly I can't write anymore, but the program is still open. It becomes gray on the top banner, like if it's deselected or something like that.

This happens in almost all programs! It happens when I'm on the internet or in a game, and I can sometimes see it happening when I'm watching DVD's. Sometimes it completely exits full screen programs like games, but never DVD's.

I've done a virus scan (AVG Free Edition) and all it says is change in a bunch of files in /system32

I'm sorry if this seems really confusing, I just don't know how to explain this problem (btw this is happening now, while I'm typing this in, I always have to click the browser so it's selected again and I can continue typing).

I hope someone knows how to help with this

Best regards
Kekalee

*edit*
I forgot to add, I've tried disabling the touch pad and using a mouse and I still had the same problem.

Hi,

I have an Excel spreadsheet filled with blocks of data randomly located throughout the spreadsheet. The data blocks are always 4 columns wide and can be anywhere from 10 to 100, sometimes more, rows deep. The type of data in the blocks is always the same, i.e.,
1st column = Description
2nd column = Qty
3rd column = Value
4th column - Account
There are no column headers.
The desired sort is always the same:
1st sort = Account
2nd sort = Description, both in ascending order

Keeping in mind that the blocks of data can be anywhere in the spreadsheet, I would like to have a macro that would allow me to place the cursor in the 1st column, 1st row of a located block of data, start the macro which would be pre-programmed to know 4 columns of data are involved, with 2 desired sorts, but would allow me to highlight the rows that need to be sorted.

Here's hoping this description is clearer than mud.

Currently using Office 2003.

Thanks in advance,
MBInDe

One of my users (I'm part of the help desk team where I work) has a weird sort problem the likes of which I've never seen. He has a two worksheet workbook. When he sorts a date column on the first worksheet in ascending order, he's fine. All the columns sort correctly. But when he sorts descending, the second worksheet sorts - and only one column sorts. There is no relationship that I can see between the two worksheets. The column on the first page that sorted is "I". The column on the second sheet is "B"The same workbook is fine on my computer. Anybody have any ideas? Corrupt Excel? Could this be a virus of some kind? Malware? It's not registering on Norton as such.

Guys,

I have a MS Excel workbook containing a number of sheets of data. The sheets keep a record of various documents received into a department for review. Currently, there are about 1000+ document references (rows) in each sheet. Each sheet has 27 columns of info, of which column “I” holds the date that the document was received into the department.

I can do a data sort on the sheet for column “I” so that it is in ascending order. What I need to do, is to be able to enter a “Start Date” and an “End date” into cells in another sheet, then push a button that will run a macro, resulting in my records sheet only displaying rows of info between those dates (in fact, deleting all rows that are not within the start and end date). How do I get the code whereby it looks at the value in column “I”, if it within the start and end date, leaves it, if not, then it deletes the entire row.

Your help would be very much appreciated!!

I been using windows 8 for about 3 months now and I HATE IT!!! Just problem after problem. This one is the worst. Yesterday i turn on my computer and log in like normal, but during the "welcome" screen it just stayed at the "welcome" screen. For a LONG time. Finally I gave up and turn it off with the power button. BIG MISTAKE. When I tried again, I got past the welcome screen. However, the screen went black and a small window open in the corner with text in it.(it came and went so fast that i couldn't read it in time) Then it restated. I got to my sign-in screen which the default blue, not my yellow. I enter the start screen and all of my apps are gone except for IE, desktop, and shop. Then i enter my desktop, which was default background. This is where it gets interesting. Stuff i actually downloaded to my computer stayed. Ex: Steam and games, Google Earth, and Chrome. However things i didn't actually download or things in my DOWNLOAD FOLDER were gone. Ex: PICTURES, Custom folders, music, and personal settings. This is the weirdest thing that happen to me i don't know what to do. I tried resetting windows to last known work setting but that doesn't work either. Thank You in advance.

Ok, I'm in a situation where I have a large number of files (1000+), that I need to sort into seperate folders.

I need 30 per folder, because the device I'm going to use can only read 30.

So I need a file sorter that can read and sort (hopefully in Alphabetical order) files 30 at a time into separate folders.

Anything will do, a batch file, a downloadable program,

and if needed............. some programming code (C++. Java, Basic.......although that would take much longer, since I havent messed with them in awhile )

Ok i really don't know exactly what to title this because this machine is doin so many things wrong I can't believe it. So it started when it wouldn't load windows, it would get to the startup screen with the windows logo and then it would freeze. So I plugged the hard drive into my computer and backed up all the info and then I formatted and re-installed Windows. Well now when I turn it on I will sometimes get video, I will sometimes get a "No signal check cable" message OR I will sometimes just get a blank screen. Usually when I wiggle the video card and restart it will come on, but then it gives me the screen that is asking me to set the right CMOS settings. So I do that and then it goes to the windows loading screen and then it goes blank. Repeat.

So far I have tried a new video card and I've tried resetting the cmos but nothing else yet. It also tells me that the battery is low but I haven't swapped that out yet because I don't know if it would solve anything. I've also messed with the RAM but that didn't produce any results either. And I've tried different monitors... and cables.

I would love to hear any suggestions anyone would have and I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to build a spreadsheet to analyse some data, I need to be able to sort totals into time columns,

If Column 'A' is the total, Column 'B' is the time and Columns 'C' onwards are the time slots from 07:00 to 17:00 in 30min increments, I need a formula so that if I have say 10 in 'A1' and 08.45 in 'B1', then 10 will be the result in 'F1' ie the column for 08:30 - 09:00.

Is this possible, would save me an awful lot of data inputting if it is, I am using Excel 2002 SP3 with XP

Phil.

Hi all,

It probably is the result of some incorrect house cleaning, but I have a number of irksome issues with Win XP. My PC has many older programs that I have used and now refer to them on my retirement consulting. So a clean re-install is quite an iffy proposition. A quick list of the issues:
- Any video is now a start stop affair, with the audio being less disrupted than the video, which is a series of still frames, each about half a second long.
- The quick launch tool bar does not load except manually. I have tried several suggested solutions but it doesn't load at start up. When loaded manually, it displays only six icons, and that cannot be changed, with or without a check next to the Quick Launch menu item.
- When selecting an item from a list, say Windows explorer or an e mail list, many times the first item selected with a right click cannot be deselected, so all following selections select a block. Could not find a fix for this.
- When browsing with Firefox 21.0 sometimes the web page resets without any user input - as if the tab was closed.
- Sometimes when trying to delete a file from a folder, it doesn't and it can be done only after a restart.
-etc.
I apologize for the lenght of this post, but I have tired for weeks to find the source of all these problems to no avail.

Help with the first two or any other would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

A:[SOLVED] Win XP is working - sort off - bt many hickups. The first two are:

When you delete a file from a folder, if it looks like it is still there, right click a blank space inside the folder and choose Refresh. This should show the file as being deleted now.
As for your other problems, go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and press enter. Put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing system files.
Also, go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /F and press enter. In the Command Prompt type a Y for Yes and restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup and fix any file errors.
If that doesn't solve all of the problems then go to Start/Run and type control userpasswords and press enter. Create a new user with admin rights, log out of the user profile you are in and log in as the new user. If that solves the problem then move your files to the new profile and use that from now on. Hi folks

Using Win-7 'Home Premium' with all the latest updates, I got a weirdicular problem with my Win-Explorer.

All functions properly until I right-click on any folder (on any drive) on the tree in the left-hand pane, then Explorer fades to pale and gives a message saying it's stopped working, then looks for a solution to the problem and will notify me when one is available, then closes.

Any ideas short of a big stick?

Test2 333

Test3 333
Test3 332
Test4 333

I've used Outlook Express for many years, so I'm somewhat embarrassed to be asking this question now. I frequently have to locate all the message sent by someone, so click the "From" column header to group the messages by sender. Problem is, I'd also like the message for each sender by in descending date order. I can't find any way to do that; it seems OE will only sort on one column and the date column is random. Is there as way to sort message by more than one column?

Hey guys!

Okay heres the deal. Just a few days ago my computer (randomly) started crapping on me. I'm on my computer often and am pretty good with keeping any junk off my computer. Anyways, I'm just gonna like give a big basis of my story .. may have to do with the problem or may not.

I use the Zone Alarm Suite for antivirus/firewall/blah blah, etc..

And when my comp was running good it one day just randomly started asking me when ever I turned on my computer to allow or deny "explorer.exe" I always clicked accept and clicked the remember check. It never remembered it and always asked me.. which was no biggy.

So one day when I restarted my computer I had a popup before it showed me my desktop, titled nView. From what I remember, It said something like this.. blah blah the explorer.exe is not responding (NOTE: I use firefox) do you wish to turn it off or ignore it this time. So I clicked yes turn it off or w/e. So it was at this time my internet started lagging rly bad. I can connect to aim, voip, etc.. programs that use the internet .. but when I try connecting to the actual internet through a browser it lags and rarely works. Which it used to be rly fast and good.

Its possible that the problem occured before the whole "explorer.exe and nView thingy".. not sure though =\

So anyways, its wierd because when ever I unplug and replug-in my rounter and modem, everything seems to work great but only for the first few minutes then it craps out a... Read more

Running an HP Pavilion z4230 laptop with MS XP Home, IE6. Just installed two 512 meg PC4200 chips a few weeks ago and things have been running ok, except for two issues that have been popping up. This first problem also happened before putting the new memory in when it had

1. (Not verbatim)... "Virtual Memory was low and Microsoft is making the necessary adjustments...", etc. That happened last Sun and Monday night a few days after putting the new memory in.

2. Just tonight we got this: "Qx771b3670 reference memory at Ox73bd01d4. The memory could not be read at IExplore.exe."

In the past 24 hours I've run multiple CCleaner scans, including the Registry scan, a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware full scan, and a full AVG scan. Nothing nasty was found other than a tracking cookie.

Just ran Belarc Advisor and both of the new chips are read/ID'd, for what it's worth.

Any idea what's going on here, and what should I do next?

As info, for the most part, only Outlook 2003 and IE6 have been run, with 'Facebook' being the primary web site being perused.

Thanks!

I have a Dell Inspirion 2200 that has 1x256 PC2700, I would like to increase the memory. I have 2x256 PC2100, I can not find anywhere an answer. I know that I have been able to replace damaged PC 2700 with PC 2100 in a desktop. I am unsure it the same is so in laptops. Thank's

A:Solved: Memory upgrade (Sort of)

The Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop comes with a non-removable 256 MB module.

It has an empty bay for adding a second module.

It supports a maximum of 1280 MB of RAM.

That means you can add a 256 MB or 512 MB or 1024 MB(1 GB) module to that empty bay.

It uses 200-pin DDR PC2700 SODIMM modules.

By adding a 1024 MB(1 GB) DDR PC2700 module to the empty bay, you can max out the RAM in that laptop.

You didn't mention which version of Windows you have in that laptop, so I'll assume it's Windows XP.

------------------------------------------------------------------

If you currently have 2 - 256 MB 200-pin DDR PC2100 SODIMM modules, you can add one of them to the empty bay.

I wouldn't advise that you do that though because it'll cause both modules to run at the slower DDR PC2100 speed.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is an image of what a 200-pin DDR PC2700 SODIMM looks like.

Also, everytime i try to run Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, my computer restarts. I tried using Norton anti-virus, but it only scans 4000 some of my files and i know have at least 100,000 some.

I don't know what the hell this girl did to this computer before I got it (I mean besides infesting it with a million viruses, spyware, adware and a couple trojans including one that didn't allow me to use task manager, got it fixed here) but web pages are really big now. Like, everything's bigger on them, youtube videos don't fit in the whole screen even when not in full, and sometimes text in webpages just keeps going to the right or left off screen, and I can't see it. My screen's perfectly centered too, so it's not that.

I'd really like this fixed, but I don't even know where to begin, I've tried making smaller icons in XP but that doesn't help. I'd really like to be able to see webpages normally again.

The browser I use is Firefox, Win XP OS. I've got an Nvidia sound card I think. Intel Pentium 3 processor. You guys will have to tell me how to get to anymore relevant specs.

You guys helped me fix my Task Manager problem, so I hope you can help me with this too :D

Hello, I am having difficulty getting Excel to sort by date with the following dates:

Column A
09/20/2012
09/21/2012
10/20/2012
02/20/2012

When I select "sort newest to oldest" it sorts the dates this way:

10/20/2012
09/20/2012
09/21/2012
02/20/2012

I have verified that the dates are not formatted as text and have altered the way the date is shown, trying it without the zero and with the zero and nothing changes.

Hello,

I am creating an Access database and need to sort the results of a query by its fileRef. Example entries are below:
Ex 1
123456/1
123456/2
123456/3
123456/10

These are kept as text data types due to the required "/" however when I instruct an ascending sort on these values Access returns them in this order
Ex 2
123456/1
123456/10
123456/2
123456/3

I can see that access is obviously sorting these a signal number at a time. Is there anyway that anyone knows of that can allow me to sort these values so that it returns what can be seen at Ex1.

Thanks,

Mark
