Unreliable connectivity - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

Q: Unreliable connectivity - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

I have a relatively new (few months) laptop of my own running Win7 x64 with an "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030" wireless network adapter. For some reason, I have serious problems connecting to most wireless networks. On my home network there are rarely problems, but when I attempt to any other network (college, or public hotspot, or neighbor's open wireless) there are often issues.

By "issues" I mean: when I first attempt to connect to the network in question, I'm usually able to connect to the first few sites I try to access, but usually after a second or a minute or a few minutes of normal connectivity, I'm suddenly unable to access anything. The browser's response is that DNS lookup has failed; when I record an IP address (via ping-command prompt) and type it in manually after this point, the browser's response is that "##.##..." is taking too long to respond, etc..." No other program is able to connect either. I have tried setting different DNS servers but it has had no visible effect. At this point, the only thing I can do to reconnect is to either wait a long time for the connection to reestablish itself (which can take an hour or more and isn't guaranteed) or to go to Device Manager and disable and reenable the wireless adapter, which then *sometimes* allows me to reconnect for a few seconds or a minute or an hour before connectivity breaks again. When the connection fails, Windows displays the computer as being connected to the network, but usually with the "Limited or no connectivity" alert. The Windows troubleshooter can't figure out the problem.

I have done virus scans and multiple shutdowns / restarts and have updated the 1030 driver to the latest version, but the problem still persists. Google shows many others to have had somewhat similar connection issues with the 1030, and the advice given is often to disable the Bluetooth portion (through Device Manager) - but doing this hasn't had any noticible effect on my machine either.

Even when connecting to outside sites/networks is impossible, I am still able to get a ping response from the router(s) via 192.168.1.1. Weird.

For some strange reason, connecting to my home network has kept working mostly as normal. Although I've had this problem for a long time, I never noticed any problems on the home network until a few days ago (strange) - connectivity is starting to fail for a time there as well.

At this point I'm not sure where to look to work on fixing the issue. I'm guessing the problem is with the wireless hardware, but that's just a guess - does anyone have any other suspicions of where the problem might be? Or does anyone have an idea of what could be done? Any help or points in the right direction would be appreciated.

A: Unreliable connectivity - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

I had the same issue too. My GF's laptop has a 1030 wireless NIC and it had all sorts of issues connecting to the APs in my house. It would work fine with her Linksys wireless router and my Sprint MiFi. But had connectivity/performance problems when connecting to either of my Netgear APs (WG102 and WNDAP350) along with my PC W 620 wireless controller with AP 105 and AP 125 access points. Updating the drivers helped the problem somewhat, but we were still experiencing dropped packets or extremely high latency when connected. Upon a suggestion from one of my coworkers, I tried adjusting the performance/power settings in Windows and that seemed to have fixed the problem. The laptop has been running fine ever since.

I'm trying to replace a faulty wireless card and I can't figure out for the life of me where to order a new one. 'HP Part Surfer' doesn't return anything. I'm also not entirely sure where the part number on the wireless card is, all I can really see that might be it is a 'PNOP' number. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem. Intel released new drivers to update from version 15.11 to 16.11. I downloaded them from Intel website, ran install, success. When I go into Device Manager to check on the driver version, I see it is still 15.11. I have tried a number of things, including deleting the drivers from the Device Manager and running the install again. However, in this case Windows 8 automatically installs even older drivers, version 14, dated 2011. I'd like to try the new drivers because it takes very long for the net to comeback after I wake up my laptop. Version 15.11 was installed by Windows Update, those drivers are dated January 2014.

Hello,

I sent my computer in for repairs a while back and now the wireless card won't work. It can't find any signals unless I plug in the one from my desktop. I went to computer/properties/device manager and saw that the wireless card (Intel (R) Centrino (R) Wireless-N 1030) has a yellow "!" next to it. The properties tab says, "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".

I have tried searching for new drivers automatically but it says they are up to date. I downloaded the latest drivers directly from Intel and tried to manually update them but it said that the drivers are up to date again. This problem occurs whenever I update my computer. I did a system restore and it worked fine for about a month, but once it updated it did the same thing again. There is no restore point to go to this time, so I'm stuck.

Anyone know what I should do?

Thanks

This card supports 802.11n. Obviously... it's right in the name, plus device manager>network adapters>Intel Centrino>Advanced tab clearly shows n enabled.

But can anyone take a second to tell me, if you know, why when I run the command netsh wlan show drivers, "radio types supported" shows only b and g, and NOT 802.11n ??? Confusing to me.

A:Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030, CMD prompt question

that is odd but if your connected using N and your drivers are up to date i wouldn't worry about it.

Hi, Your machine was built before second half of 2014 therefore the chance to upgrade wireless card is very slim to none. There is a list on pp 6 and 7 of the following manual:           http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099448.pdf You can use USB wireless adapter, this will cost you one USB port       http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/c/technology/networking/wireless-usb-adapters     (Note: much cheaper from other countries). Regards.

I saw some people having trouble with extremely slow wireless connections using an Intel Centrino Wireless n-1030 card. The original thread is closed, so the problem may already be solved, but if anyone is still experiencing this problem, here is what worked for me:

This NIC is a dual band card (802.11 + bluetooth), and with some routers having the bluetooth enabled really slowed down the 802.11n connection (it didn't seem to happen with my netgear router, but when I switched to linksys, WHAMMO!).

Anyway, when I disabled the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager the problem was completely solved (uhhhh except I need to use a dongle to make my bluetooth mouse work now... small price to pay IMO)

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience. Hope it can help someone.

A:I'm having wireless Issues with the Intel 1030,Turning off by itself

It almost sounds like a nic driver issue. Have you updated it recently? Try to update, or roll-back if update did not work.
Replacing your nic should not be to hard depending on your device. Usually the nic is the easiest of the add-on boards to get to. But, I really don't think it's the nic. Were you changing, installing, updating anything with your hardware, operating system when this happened? If driver update/rollback doesn't work, try a system restore if feasible.

In device manager I have the error "code 10 this device cannot start" I have tried almost everything so far. Reinstalled drivers multiple times, with multiple versions. I have replaced the adapter even though I knew it was a software problem because the wireless works on a live boot Ubuntu and as a last resort I have reinstalled Windows and installed all the proper drivers but still nothing. Any thoughts on what I could be missing or some suggestions?

I have been having issues with my wireless adapter (Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N6150). it has been a few weeks that this problem has been occurring. The adapter will all of a sudden disappear. Initially I would just scan for hardware changes in my device manager and that would do the trick but now it does not. So there are days I start my computer and the wireless adapter is no where to be found. Troubleshooting does not solve the problem. Also I browsed through the internet and i saw that people who were having this issue they would disable there 802.11n Mode that helped for a few days but it has started to fail again. Now for the past 2 weeks also I have had three crashes, sometimes by restarting the computer the wireless adapter would appear again and so on three separate occasions I tried restarting the computer but it failed to shutdown and I got the Blue screen of death. (it said driver power state failure)

Does anyone have any information as to what I can do to fix this problem. Can anyone please explain what is wrong with my laptop? PLease any help is appreciated.

Hello all,

My friend is having trouble with her laptop. Specs:

Lenovo Laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
8.0 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000

She has been having issues for the last few days where her computer will lose internet connection. Her other devices such as her iPhone still work properly on the WiFi. Only the laptop is affected. She says it seems to happen after a half hour so of usage. She has to restart to get it to work again.

I used TeamViewer to remote into her computer and looked at it. It didnt look like anything was out of the ordanary. I ran virus and malware scans, ran sfc /scannow to make sure it wasnt Windows corruption. All of those came back fine. I try to update the driver, but the driver installer will show a screen for about 5 seconds, disappear never to be seen again. Which kinda leads into the next problem.

There are certain files and applications that will not execute on her laptop. They will show the error:

<file path> is not a valid Win32 application.

It seems to be random. I can download one file and it will say that, but the next one will be fine. It doesnt seem to have any rhyme or reason to it. Because of this I cant get the drivers to update, so it seems that I will have to fix that issue before anything else.

Any ideas on this one?

A:Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000 Issues

The problem might be with the laptop, but the solution might be with the WAP - Wireless Access Point (router?).

You might check to see what channel the WAP is using and if it can be set to use one protocol (as opposed to b/g/n).

See the bottom of this post...

...for info on the Xirrus app.

Once the connectivity issue is resolved, we can look into the file execution (corruption?) issue.

Its a kind of wireless network thing. Sometimes its a little troublesome to install also, so persevere. If I'm not mistaken its a intel "in-house" wifi. Hello all, I am having issue enabling the 802.11n settings for my WiFi card that is supposed to have N grade (300 Mbps) capabilities. The card standards are 802.11b/g/n. According to Intel's white sheet for the Intel? Centrino? Wireless-N 1000, it should be able to utilize the N grade WiFi speed capabilities. However, I'm not seeing the setting available in the Advanced settings of the driver. The attached screenshot shows that there are only b & g settings available. This is most inconvenient because my internet speed was just upgraded to 105 Mbps & I'd like to at least enjoy a little. I'm not getting anything above 50 Mbps. Is anyone else having this issue?

A:Where Are The N WiFi Settings For Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000?

It's the same for ALL Intel WiFi products. Wireless Mode for Intel is basically using ABG, BG, AG, A, G, and B modes only. (see screenshot)

For Centrino series, there's a menu called "802.11n mode" and from there you can use it to enable or disable WiFi N

For 7260 series, it is called "HT mode" and if you disable that, the NIC will refuse to connect to N network and will operate on G or A.

FYI, there's a difference between what Windows say on the connection rate and the actual rate. The actual rate depends on RF environment, walls between the computer, antenna gain, and power management. The best actual speed you can get is around 40 - 50 % of the speed reported by Windows.

Getting an actual speed of 50 Mbps means that you're already connected to WiFi N. I might guess that the connection rate reported by Windows is probably 144 Mbps. 50 Mbps is close to the maximum actual throughput of 70 - 75 Mbps. You can change the settings on your router to "force" 40 MHz channel width on the 2.4 GHz band and then set the "802.11 Channel width for 2.4 GHz to" "Auto" to allow the adapter to use 40 MHz channel width.

If successful, this should give you 300 Mbps reported connection rate and around 130 - 180 Mbps of actual speed. Therefore, your 100+ Mbps internet speed should be covered provided that your environment has little to none RF interference and the laptop is within line of sight of the router.

I just recently did a Windows update and somehow it destroyed my wifi connectivity. I have tried to do system restores back a few days prior to the update to NO avail. I have removed and re-installed or attempted to install the hardware and the software several times. I have downloaded Intel Driver Update Utility to help me install the drivers for the network adapter to no avail. I am not sure what happened but I definitely don't know how to correct this problem.

I have tried so many steps I can't even remember half of them. Most of the times that Intel has done a download, it comes back as Failed and then when I reboot laptop it says installation incomplete (or something like that).

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

Hello there everyone,I am experiencing a strange problem with my y510p. I can properly connect to the internet via wifi, I have sorted out a few config problems which prevented me from connecting, but recently I am getting worried by the network card's behavior. I have recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 (I don't think that's the cause of my issue, but just in case). I noticed that my throughput was, according to Intel's PROSet Wireless WiFi Connection Utility, of about 130 mbps on wireless-n, at about 1 meter away (seriously) from the modem, which is clearly able to do high-speed 802.11n, because the model is kind of new. This modem came from the ISP with two different SSID-s active, and it's able to do 4, so I thought that I could merge the two active networks (set the same SSID and settings on both). Then I set 3 SSID-s active (all identical), then 4, then just 1, and I kept testing this way to see if I could get 270mbps. Not a chance, it stayed at 130. Eventually I found the solution. The system upgrade had set the network adapter settings back to 20mhz only, so I set it back to auto and I started to get 270mbps (intermittent speed) again. But... that didn't sort everything out. hi M B.,

Welcome to the Forums.

That's indeed odd if the clicking noise is comming from the wireless card. One thing that you can try is to re-seat the wireless antenna cables (see page 42 of the hardware maintenance manual).

As for the hard drive, to ensure that it's not the one that's making the clicking noise, try to disable the wireless connection run a diagnostic on the drive (i.e. via HD Tune) or put a load on it (i.e. via CrystalDiskmark) and observe.

i have an HP pavilion m6-1045dx laptop with the specs:
intel i5-3210M processor
8gb ram
windows 7 64bit OS

obviously, i have an intel centrino wirless N-2230 as the wireless NIC. a few days ago my hard drive failed and needed repair, i managed to replace the hard drive but came a long this problem. whenever i would play my PC game (league of legends), my ping would register at 800-2200 pms i need help.

note: the wirless NIC worked perfectly fine with prior to the hard drive crash other than dropping the network when there's too much users on the router.

A:Intel centrino wireless N-2230 having slow connection speeds

If your router is dropping network when there's too much users, it might be overheating or overloaded and that your Wireless NIC might not be the problem at all. Playing 3D games that require online multiplayer is very demanding for a router that is not "high performance" capable. It might be the case where the router is overloaded when someone is playing an online multiplayer 3D game while others are streaming HD or using a Skype call VOIP all at the same time. You can try unplugging your router for 30 seconds and plugging it back in and see if ping spikes are gone.

What usually works is to connect using a wired connection then go to the Windows Update Center and install all the recent drivers for your new system, this should install the latest driver for the Intel NIC.

If you want the full 300Mbps this NIC is capable of then you will need to use the 802.11N Only setting in your routers set up page, using the mixed modes will slow your connection speed way down to wireless G speeds of 54Mpbs.

Or you could try using the drivers in the link below.

Hi there. I'm having an issue with this wireless card on my laptop. I want to add that my expertise level in computers is not high, but I am a little knowledgeable. I would estimate my skill being about a 4 or 5 on a 1-10 scale, but can follow directions well. I also don't often know the tech lingo unless I've read about it online. I will include some of the laptop information below.

To put it simply, I replaced my wireless card in my laptop and I got the Intel 6200 to work, but whenever I restart my computer, or disable and enable the wireless card, it stops working. In order to get it to work again, I go to "device manager", right click, and uninstall it. Then I "Scan for hardware changes" and it works again. Each time I want to use it after my computer is turned off, I have to go through this process, and add my wireless passwords again. Obviously this is a hassle I would prefer not to go through. I'm about to send the card back thinking that it has some problem.

Asus N53SM-ES72
Windows 7 Professional
- 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM processor
Previous wireless card: Atheros Model AR58195 (worked fine, I just wanted a better one)

As the Atheros card worked, I don't think this has anything to do with my wireless router, but it is a TP-LINK TL-WDR3600.

Anyway, I appreciate any possible help I can get to prevent my wireless card from stopping upon computer restart! If no one has any ideas, I will just send it back as defective.

Hi I was wondering which is more powerful for a laptop/notebook. Intel Core Centrino duo processor vs. Pentium 4 with hyperthreading. I know they both have different speeds like 2300-2600 for the centrino one and pentium 4 3-3.8ghz but when I asked some coworkers which they thought is better, all said the centrino one because of the powersaving and the duo processor. However, when I search Alienware's site for laptops, the pentium 4 processor computer seems to be significantly higher in price with all other options configured the same. Why would this be if the Centrino duo processor is faster and uses less power? Which is generally a better chip? What would the

Electronic recycling or computer recycling or e-waste recycling is the recycling of computers and any other electronic devices. Recycling is the complete deconstruction of electronic devices in order to cut down on mining the raw materials and rather extract the materials from old and obsolete electronics. Obsolete computers and old electronics are valuable sources for secondary raw materials, if recycled; if not, these devices are a source of toxins and carcinogens. Rapid technology change, low initial cost, and planned obsolescence have resulted in a fast-growing surplus of computers and other electronic components around the globe. Technical solutions are available, but in most cases a legal framework, collection system, logistics, and other services need to be implemented before applying a technical solution. For more information please visit the websit of electronic recycle center.

I'm running Windows 8 on a Samsung laptop which I've had since April of this year. The wireless adapter is as mentioned in the thread title, driver version 15.5.6.48. Windows update has been telling me there is an update for this adapter. I hadn't acted on it because the adapter is working and I don't see a need to update it right now. It was fine with a Linksys router, never a problem. At my current location, I am using a Netgear router and all was well until I updated the router's firmware. The laptop had intermittent connection drops until I rolled back the router's firmware. (I think the problem is Netgear's firmware in this case, not my drivers.) Since rolling back the router firmware, the laptop has had no connection issues whatsoever.

Today I see that the driver has been downloaded, so I have the warning that it is ready to be installed. I am wondering if I should go ahead and install it. And would I be able to roll the driver back if there are problems?

Edited to add:

I'm seeing this thread:

It looks like I might be better off staying with the driver I have. A:drivers for Intel 855 Centrino Chipse(from China)

Hi leo & welcome to SevenForums,

You may want to download the drivers directly from Intel here Intel? 852/855 Chipset Family - Chipset information and downloads and click the drivers you want (click 'download'). You will find that Windows 7 is not listed as operating system, don't worry, just download the next best thing (XP or Vista).

Make sure you download the EXE version of the file and save it. Next, open up explorer and go to where you saved it and right-click the exe file you downloaded & select properties. In the compatability tab select the compatability you want to use (based on either XP/Vista). Now click ok and run the file, if asked if you wish to install an older driver select yes.

The driver should install with no errors & restart your PC. You can now run Windows Update to allow Windows to install a more up-to-date driver.

Hope this helps

My Intel Centrino 2230 dual-function Bluetooth card is built into my GIGABYTE GA-H77N-WIFI LGA 1155 Intel H77 motherboard. Upon updating all Bluetooth & Wi-Fi drivers (all-in-one card), I was able to get my VXi BlueParrot B250-XT+ to connect as a VoIP headset. There's one major issue, however: the input is incredibly distorted and low-level. If I yell through the microphone I hear a buzzing noise, but otherwise the output from the speakers is virtually silent. This is all with the microphone gain maxed out. Turning the gain down does nothing but silence the microphone entirely (I understand why). I tried to talk to my sister over Skype, and she said that she heard low-level distortion and nothing else. This headset works well with my phone, and has no issues pairing with the PC or phone. Whatever it is must be in the PC. I tried a USB Bluetooth dongle and was able to get great input from the microphone, but then the dongle stopped working. The adapter simply just quit. This was not due to interference from other Bluetooth equipment or software, as neither was operational while the dongle was installed. I would very much like help with this issue, as I purchased the motherboard with the intent to use the on-board Bluetooth, and it seems that USB Bluetooth dongles just don't last, based on my experience and the experiences of reviewers across the 'net.

Thank you for any and all assistance with this issue!

I recently had the signal drop out, but it typically doesn't happen.
My issue is that I noticed the signal fluctuate up and down even when maintaining full connectivity. (See picture below). It will fluctuate near top speed for whatever router I am on and very low speed <100 kb/s
Is this normal behavior?

Thanks again,

Yes if there is a lot of congestion. As for speeds, it will only show when data is being transmitted. Depending on the size of the packets and how many, the bandwidth will vary.

Hi all,

I have an Asus U56E which has an Intel Centrino 6150 Wireless N + Wimax network adapter on it. This card ran fine the first few months I had it. Then I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with my windows install and ran it dual boot. The card worked fine on Windows but I had to make some configuration changes on Ubuntu for it to run. I did that and it worked fine still. Then, naively, I installed a registry cleaner (wise registry cleaner to be exact), and some time after installing it and running it regularly (usually 2-3 times a week) something went wrong and I started getting this issue with my card. What happens is the wireless will be functioning for some time, perfectly normal, and then it will just lose internet connection. I will have to disable and re-enable the adapter through device manager to get it to work but that only works sometimes, most of the time the device just won't start again and I will get the device can not start error in device manager. Also, when this happens I usually restart my computer and sometimes when I do that (or even when I just turn my laptop on or come back from putting it to sleep) the adapter is not recognized at all, doesn't even show up in device manager. What's most odd about that is that the Wimax still shows up on the list of network adapters but the wireless doesn't show up.

You say you have reinstalled 7 just how did you do that/ and have you still got Ubuntu on board? If not then why not make a bootable disk and use the try Ubuntu to see if you can access the net if you can perhaps there is something wrong with your 7 install.

Your cpu is not a socket 775, as that is the desktop core 2 duo socket. You would have a socket "P" system. You'd need a core 2 duo socket P processor. I would think you'd be looking at a core 2 duo T7XXX cpu (eg T7300).

I am stumped with regards on how to fix this one.

I am running a custom built Sager NP-5135, Windows 7 64bit system.

I am actually multi booting this system (Running Linux on one partition, and Windows 7 on 2 other partitions).

The Windows 7 partitions are, for all intensive purposes, the same (configuration wise).

Here is the strange part, the wireless connection on one of the windows installations (Call it Win7_OS_#2) is perfect - great connection speed, range is great, etc, etc (So the 6300 hardware is NOT faulty).

The other Windows 7 partition (Call it Win7_OS_#1) has a terrible time connecting -- the speed is slow (read it as "unusable"). It wasn't always like this, and I don't recall when it became this way as I normally connect using a wired connection.

On Win7_OS_#1 I have uninstalled the driver, reinstalled the latest driver, scanned for virus', trogans, malware, found nothing, and I still can not get it to work properly.

I have checked all the property and advanced settings for the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 card -- they are set exactly the same as on the Windows 7 installation that is working perfectly.

Does anyone have an idea as to what else I could check to try and resolve the issue (without having to reinstall windows 7 again)?

Thanks for your assistance.

Intel has warned that out of date drivers for its wireless Centrino platform are plagued with serious security flaws.. The massive 129MB update fixes problems that Intel describes as having the potential to allow 'remote code execution and system control' and affects Intel 2200BG and 2915ABG PRO/Wireless Network Connection Hardware (w22n50.sys, w22n51.sys, w29n50.sys, w29n51.sys) with versions 8 and 9 of the driver.pcpro.co.uk.f-secure.com/weblog.Intel Centrino Patch Follow Up.

Dear Toshiba forum members.
First excuse me for my poor English because my native language is Dutch.

I have recently bought my third Toshiba notebook A Satellite R850-18W.

I already bought a replacement wlan adapter for the original Atheros AR9002WB adapter.
Changing the the adapter in the notebook is easy, I have already done that.

The only problem is, I couldn't get bluetooth working so I put the original Atheros adapter back in my Satellite R850. Everything is working, wifi and bluetooth.

But I want to buy a router with 5ghz band possibility and take advantage of the speed en less crowed 5ghz band. That's why I bought the Intel centrino 6235 adapter.

I need help in which steps to follow to get everything working like it should.

Which software do I need to un-install to avoid problems.
Do I need to un-install the drivers of the Atheros adapter first?

I think and hope it should be possible to make such a minor change in configuration of this notebook?

I guess there isn't an easy way although Toshiba has also notebooks were they use the Intel centrino advanced-N 6235 adapter. I was kind of hoping on an easy software install of drivers and the Toshiba connection software.

Hope anyone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance.

A:Satellite R850-18W: Replacement of Wlan card with Intel centrino 6235

Hi

Not quite sure if you will be able to use this Intel Centrino WLan card.
There is a similar threads about the Intel Centrino Advanced n 6230 and the other user could not enable this card
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=65338

Therefore I recommend talking to your dealer if it?s possible to return this kind of WLan card if there would be an compatibility problem.

Hello everyone.

I have been researching everywhere on the internet about this topic. Seems it's a pretty common problem with this model and many others. I just cant seem to find a straight forward fix. It started off with the laptob bios test which stated that my hdd was shot. I talked to the tek guy and he wants to charge me $375 for a new 200g hdd + service fees. I bought a 500gb off newegg for $50. I want to do this myself so any help would be awesome!

so far this is the info I got for ya. I ordered the recovery disks, installed em. Everything loaded up and followed promps so it cant be the screen or video card. BUT upon restart the black screen comes back, occasionaly with a blinking curser. Windows loads up after a great number of startups, but shuts back down.

The "Bios" pheonix, comes up; esc= unable startup message f1=sys info f2=startup check(doesnt work) f9= change boot device order f10=enter setup f11=syst recovery......... then black screen

not trying to recover anything and if possible complete reset or different OS like xp, ubunto or something would be fine with me.

No one has any info on some sort of complete restart program. Maybe another Bios and OS i can use???

Hello, Wireless functionality was lost on my HP Pavillion dv7t-6c00 laptop when I upgraded to Windows 10. Here's what I have in my laptop now: Manufacturer: Intel CorporationDescription: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030Driver version: 15.11.0.8 I've read some support threads on this topic and it seems that this wireless card is not supported by Intel in Windows 10. I've also read that one suggestion is to replace the wireless card with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card. I tried to replace the wireless card prior to upgrading to Windows 10 with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card but the wireless card I purchased seemed incompatible with the laptop, as it gave me a Halted screen when I started up the laptop.  So my frustration is I would gladly and easily replace the wireless card but I can't keep purchasing cards that are incompatible with the laptop. What are my options?  Is there a specific/guarenteed HP Laptop compatible part number that I can purchase?   Even better, is there a link to where I can purchase a card that will definitely work? Thank you ver much,Chris

I've had this problem for awhile now and after trying my best at fixing it, I've given in and have decided to come to the experts!

I have Linksys WAG54G wireless modem router, which is connected by ethernet cable to a standard PC and an Xbox 360. My sister is normally always connected to the wireless network on her laptop. The problem is, both her laptop and my Xbox get disconnected from the network after about 20 minutes. Unfortunately I'm not sure if its due to the same problem, or a completely different problem for each, all I know is that the Linksys needs to be turned off and on so that the laptop/Xbox can re-establish a connection.

I've done all the obvious stuff, client lease time is set to the maximum allowed for the Linksys (10080 minutes). It still does it though. I also find that for the laptop, the connection is more reliable when the standard PC isnt turned on, could this have anything to do with it?

Any suggestions are appreciated, now matter how dumb they seem!

I currently have an 8MB broadband connection provided down my BT line by F2S.COM. I use a Belkin ADSL Modem with a built-in 4 port wireless router to generate a private wireless network using 802.11G protocol giving me an effective network speed of 54MBps. This network is accessed by my primary machine - a laptop with an internal Intel Pro Wireless 200BG card which runs 802.11g - and three other machines (2 laptops and a desktop) - all fitted with Belkin wireless cards running 820.11b giving them a reduced speed of 11MBps.

The secondary machines all connect to the network on bootup and wotk without problems. My primary machine, however, whilst originally working fine, has now developed an annoying habit. When it is booted, the network card with either fail to find the local network at all, or will claim to be connected but will be unalbe to retrieve mail or connect to web pages - I suspect because a proper connection has not been established with my ISPs DNS servers, the location for which is stored in the router configuration.

In order to connect this machine to the Internet I must either:

a. Reboot the router or
b. Disable the internal network card, insert a card running 802.11b (ie a slower card) which immediately finds and connects to the network, remove that card and re-enable the internal 802.11G which then works fine after redetecting the network.

Generally speaking if I then power off the machine and restart it several hours later it will work without any problems... Read more

PLEASE HELP!

I'm usually able to figure stuff out myself by reading various forum threads, but I'm stumped on this one. I will try to list you the basic features of the hardware I'm using & the problem as clearly as possible.

I'm using: HP xw4600 Workstation (brand new)
PCI card: Ralink Wireless PCI Card 802.11n, 300M (brand new, installed myself)

I have a wireless broadband internet connection set up. Never have problems with it. Four laptops regularly connect to the network with ZERO issues. I am 99% sure the problem here is NOT router/internet-related.

PROBLEM:
I can connect to my wireless network with my newly installed PCI card. Full signal, connects no problem, everything is dandy. I will open a browser and it will load my homepage. I can load maybe a few more pages, AND THEN, the internet stops working. I am still connected, still full signal, etc. But web pages cease loading. If I keep trying and trying, after maybe 2 or 3 minutes, the connection seems to come back and I can load a few more pages (works for maybe 10 seconds), and then same thing. Nothing will load for another few minutes.

Basically; although I am connected/full signal/no problems with the network on any other laptop/ipod, the internet only works intermittently and very rarely. This distinguishes my case from those where the Wireless is connected and the internet DOES NOT work: in my case, it DOES work, but only 1/20th of the time.

Another peculiarity: the first time I co... Read more

I use my (Acer 5610Z) Vista laptop mainly when I'm on the road, such as in hotels, so there isn't any one particular router involved in my problem. It's that sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't, get the wireless to work. Right now, for instance, I can't connect at all. I try and try, and each time it simply comes back failed. The machine's attempts at an explanation are too pathetic to recount ("try plugging in a cable to 'local area connection!'").

Meanwhile, I happen to have access to another laptop, which connects just fine. So there is absolutely nothing wrong with the connection.

How can I begin to figure out what is wrong with my Acer? Thanks.

A:Vista laptop unreliable for on-the-road wireless use

I would suggest two things Historian:

1. Check the Acer web site to see if your wireless card has updated drivers.

2. Go out and plunk down $30 for a USB wireless adaptor and try using it for a couple of weeks instead of the internal one. If it works great and has no problems, keep it, use it and chalk up the internal one to be a lemon (providing your tried my first suggestion first). IF, however, the USB one acts just like the internal one, then you have some Windows issues that need to be troubleshooted (is that a word?)

Good luck

Hello, you can check my profile for all the info you should need about my computer, basically I have Vista and I'm told that Vista and wireless don't go very well together...yet. We have a wireless/wired home network set up here, consisting of a wired router and a wireless router working together to connect all 3 of our desktops and all 3 of our notebooks. I'm talking specifically about problems with my notebook though. When I turn on my computer and/or my wireless card, it's real quick to connect, and I have access to our network storage drives and all the computers currently connected Our network has internet access via cable modem. The thing is, all the XP based systems on the network connect to the internet right away, while my Vista machine takes anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes. Even then, I'll sometimes loose the internet connection and will have to wait another 5 minutes for it to reconnect. Resetting the wireless router or the card itself doesn't speed up the process because I still have to wait for it to connect to the internet. Sometimes it won't connect for so long that I just give up and move all my work to an XP based desktop. It's really frustrating, if it's connected to the network, shouldn't it also have the same internet access right away? If I try to repair the connection (HA now Vista makes you wait for it to "diagnose the problem" or identify it and then it will give you the option to reset yo... Read more

Hi,

I last updated my Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 on May 26 to the newest driver available at the time through Intel's website. That turned out to be a mistake. It usually worked but about once a week, when waking up my computer, it would have issues connecting to my network. A Windows repair usually fixed it.

Today I woke it up and could not connect at all. Repairing did nothing. I went into Device Manager and found that it said, roughly, "There is no driver installed for this device." I first tried to rollback the driver. Device Manager froze for about ten minutes. When it started working again, I disabled and re-enabled the wireless, found my network, entered my password, but it still wouldn't connect. I used HP Recovery Manager software to reinstall the original driver.

When it was done, it prompted me to restart. After a while, I saw a BSOD labelled DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (Minidump is a separate attachment). After my computer booted up, I checked Device Manager. My wireless was disabled because of a Code 22: Windows disabled it because of a known issue. I manually enabled it and it now works fine with driver number 15.10.3.2 dated 22 August 2013. It's definitely older than the May 2014 driver but not the original system installed driver, 15.5.6.48 from November 2012, which seems to have caused the crash.

I'm just wondering if my computer and wireless connection will remain stable and, if not, how I should fix it.

I have Windows 8.1 on an HP m6-1158c... Read more

Hi Malickfan,

I have analyzed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of your dump file :-

Now, we see that the "ntkrnlmp.exe" is blamed, but as we know that it is a Windows component, chances of it being at fault is very less.

As it seems, that since your Wireless driver was causing the problem. It should probably work fine. The BSOD might be a one time issue. In case of further BSOD's please don't hesitate to post back here. In case you want the list of 3rd party drivers to update let me know and I will post it.

Hi TSG,

I have a Sony Vaio laptop (WinXP) with B/G wireless integrated card connecting to a 8011/B Netgear DG824M AP/Firewall/Router acting as a DHCP (or is it DCHP?). I have connected to the router and other desktops/laptops on my wireless home network in the past.

But - the connection intially shows up as "Excellent" but then is lost and I am unable to reconnect. I have researched this problem on the net and have changed battery power saving setting, installed the latest Intel drivers, removed MS XP SP1 WAP patches that may have caused a problem and released & renewed the IP address many times but to no avail.

My Intel ProSET software says that the wired connection has an IP address of the 'correct' 192.168.0.2 (even though it is unplugged) but the wireless card has 0.0.0.0 (cannot renew its IP address). Have these adapters gotten confused or are there some other things I can try to sustain a connection?

many thanks in advance.

Hello, I have been having a problem recently with my desktop's wireless connections. I know the hardwire connections worked without a problem while I was living on campus but while I am at home on winter break I have to rely on a wireless setup. The machine's specs are listed next to my profile name, and I am using a Linksys wireless-N receiver and router. What happens is once I log on and the machine boots up it automatically connects to my secured and encrypted connection with full signal strength and pretty good speed. It is capable of full internet connectivity and web browsing, but it often fails after a while.

I have had this problem for a couple weeks, ever since I moved out of my dorm. My brother uses the same USB receiver and we tried switching out the adapters with the same result so I am also fairly certain the adapter is not the cause here. Typically, if I only browse the web the connection has no problems, but if I try to connect to Steam or use Himachi to connect to a LAN with some friends the signal changes from high strength to limited connectivity and displays the yellow triangle/exclamation point icon on the task tray. Once this occurs I am unable to connect to the internet whatsoever, though the signal strength from my router is still very strong. I live in an apartment and my room is right next to where the router is located with only a wall getting in between the adapter and router, so I don't think that's an issue either. Oh, and the... I have a Sony Vaio with intel 5100 AGN wireless adapter & Vista OS.

The problem I have is that 9 times out of 10 it will not connect to my home or office wireless network. Eventually it does, though only after switching the adapter on and off several times or rebooting the machine. Sometimes I also have to restart the wireless router.

It will always seem to connect in that I get the connected icon in the notification area (though often without the internet globe symbol) though it will not connect to the net or to any other machine or printer on the network.

Some other useful info:
Both the home and office routers are the same model (Comtrend) and both work fine with other PC's

I often have bluetooth problems also - can take a while for bluetooth to start (I use a bluetooth mouse) and I have 3 unknown bluetooth peripheral devices in device manager

I have McAfee internet security installed

I have tried:
Disabling the firewall
Removing and readding the wireless and bluetooth devices
Disabling IPv6
Driver & OS update
A clean install

Nothing has resoved this issue which is becoming a pain as I can now spend up to half an hour each time trying to connect.

Any help is very much appreciated.

A:Wifi connectivity with intel 5100 AGN

Hi -

The Intel 5100 is one of the best wifi's available. I have one in this system and it performs flawlessly.

I think you'll find McAfee to be the problem here. I suggest that you remove it. Download the McAfee Removal Tool (MRT) to your desktop. RIGHT-click on the MRT icon, select "Run as Admin". When it finishes, re-boot.

MRT - http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

Then reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Use AVG for a/v if you wish - http://free.avg.com/download-avg-ant...s-free-edition

Make sure that you have the most recent Intel 5100 wifi driver. Go to Intel's site -

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=3062

You can check your system manufacturer's site, but I have found they are ususlly 8-12 months behind.

I recently purchased a Pavilion 17t at Costco. Overall, I'm liking the  computer. But it has one major issue, that is unacceptable for a laptop computer. The wifi keeps not working. I haven't found a pattern to this either. I will be connected to my wifi network, and then suddenly the internet will stop working. It still shows connected to the router, but can't reach the internet. I have contacted HP support twice about this now, and their solution has not resolved the issue. The BIOS has been updated, the driver has been updated, Windows 10 has been updated, the wireless driver has been uninstalled and reinstalled. I still have the issue. If I attempt a restart when this happens, the restart takes a very, very long time. I've clocked it at 2 minutes before I did a manual power button restart on it. But the restart issue seems to happen every time the wifi issue happens(assuming I do a restart). I've tried turning the wifi off and on, and that proves difficult. It will often turn back on as soon as I turn it off, or not respond at all to my attempts. If I connect a wired connection to the laptop, I am able to connect to the internet again. All other devices on the wireless router will continue to work fine when this computer does not. What would be my next steps to try and resolve this issue? What more information might you need from me? HP Pavilion 17-g133-cl

I've found a solution and I signed up on these forums just to post it. This problem has been a nightmare and I wanted to share. My machine is also the HP Pavilion 17 G1337-CL, which has the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless ac3165. (I did make one hardware change by swapping out the HDD for an SSD) The problem that I had was produced by Windows power management system. When I went just a few minutes without accessing the internet it would close down. I could have a browser window open, but if I was not actively sending or receiving data, the connection would shut down. This is the two part solution (Windows 10): PART 1Right-click windows start menuSelect "Device Manager"Open the "Network adapters" drop downRight-click "Inter(R) Dual Band Wireless AC-3165"Select "Properties"Select "Power Management" tabUncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Click "Ok" PART 2Right-click "RealTek PCIe FE Family Controller"Select "Properties"Select "Power Management" tabUncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Click "Ok" Restart the computer (don't know if it is necessary, but I always restart) That fixed it for me. I had found Part 1 on a number of forums, but I had to figure out Part 2 on my own. (Windows XP)

Says connected to wireless with good signal strength.

BUT can't get any access...

Can't access internet sites.

Can't access router by typing router IP address into EI

Can't Ping router IP address (times out)

What to try?

A:Solved: Got wireless cGot wireless connectivity but can't access internet

Never mind---

The first thing to try is to jiggle the handle.

Disconnected/reconnected

Now works fine..

Go figure.

Hi,

I just bought a Sony Vaio with Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 Network Adapter.

I primarily use the notebook at my home & office network.
Home Network Router: Linksys WRT54G
Office Network Router: Beetel 450BXi (ADSL2+Modem)

The issue am facing is while am on to the network (mostly home network) suddenly it goes into limited connectivity & gets disconnected; while other PC's remain connected.

And then you have to either re-install the Wireless LAN driver or re-start numerous times.

This has been happening regularly. Pls assist in resolving the issue.

This is driving me mad. I've been through multiple forums/Intel's support site/Dell's support site/Microsoft's support site...and nobody seems to have a straight solution.

My new laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed. I updated all drivers from Dell's website and installed the latest Intel PROSet WIFI drivers v15.6.0.0. I have not installed any anti-virus software and I don't see any installed by Dell. I'm not using any extra firewall software beyond the native windows one and I have not changed it;s configuration. Any software out there that can scan your PC for A-V and/or firewall issues?

None of my other devices have any connectivity issues at all. If I use an Ethernet cable the laptop works perfectly so it's definitely a WIFI issue.

I've disabled the Bluetooth adapter and the Ethernet adapter so that only the WIFI adapter is left enabled. I've tried disabling the Intel drivers and just using Windows to connect. I've tried using fixed IP address instead of DHCP. I've reset the router...basically I've tried all of the obvious things. I also tried the suggestions to use command line instruction to reset the IP stack/etc...but they had no effect.
I feel like it's the drivers themselves. Should I remove the Intel drivers completely?

Welcome to the forum Rob.

Do the other systems have WiFi working because according to your ipconfig/all you aren't picking up anything from the router here.

When you reset the router, did you hold down the hidden button on the side for 30 seconds or did you just reboot the router?

Assuming the router is working and other wireless devices can connect.

Have you tried removing the preinstalled trial version A/V software which is typically preinstalled on your factory Dell system?

Depending on which one is installed you would need to use the special removal tool to get rid of it completely or problems will ensue.

It can also help to remove all the preinstalled bloatware from your new system. Decrapifier will locate those preinstalled programs so that they can safely be removed.

Hello All

I have a Toshiba M40 Laptop, and i recently updated the drivers for my wireless card and network card. Now when i run autoruns (a program i downloaded form Optimze XP), it says that IntelWireless and Intel Zero Config are running on startup. I dont want them to be!

Do i need them? Can i run them manually if i need them? Cause i'm not always connected to wireless, most of the time i'm connected hardwire and i know windows takes care of that.

Thanks a lot

Intel 82562V-2 10/100 Network Card.

It's a dual boot and when I boot into Ubuntu, the networking works fine.

Boot to the XP pro side and nothing.  I can enable/disable the card but when I check status is shows that it's connected and the time its been connected but it shows not packets in or out.

Any ideas of things I could do/try.

Thanks!

A:No network connectivity - WinXP Pro SP3 ; Dell Inspirion 530S; Intel 82562V-2

Just a thought but have you tried something as simple as connect automatically in the internet options settings?(internet options,
connections,LAN,Automatically detect settings)
I know its a simple thing but its easy to overlook,my xp will do this occasionally after using my dual booting Lubuntu,no idea why.
I asked a programer why a clean system would do this and he said even
a small electrical surge could cause a setting change,so who knows.

If that doesnt work it might be time to repair the internet, reset the win sock etc..hopefully you dont have a viral issue messing with your settings.

When I right click on the Wireless icon -everything is greyed out except for
OPEN INTEL PROset WIRELESS and OPEN INTEL WIRELESS TROUBLESHOOTER.

-When I click on OPEN Intel proset Wireless the pop says Intel

install a supported wireless adapter.

* If I go to drivers and look at Network Adapters - it shows Intel

see a pop-up that says ADAPTER STATE NOT FOUND IN REGISTRY. If I click OK
button on the pop up, it shows a window with 5 tabs( General,

This device is working properly" and the Device usage shows Device enabled.

i uninstalled both the drivers and the sofware and reverted to the old one but to no success.

Hello,

I have a laptop dell xps M1210 with Intel(R) PROSet 3495 ABG. It has been working well for several years.

Yesterday morning I got an error: "Problem applying profile", then it couldn't been connected.

I did a lot of things.
1) Update the driver from 10.5 to version 12.1
2) Make sure "Wireless Zero Configuration" service started.
3) Uninstall the wireless adapter and reinstall it.
4) reboot the machine.
....

It is not working today. The error becomes "Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter.".
By checking the device manager for connectivity, everything looks good.

One thing I must mention is sometimes I got an error that is "Microsoft Help and Support Center has encountered a problem and needs to close...."

The detail is Error signature
AppName:helpctr.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.5512 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset: 0000100b.

I am frustered but I don't want to reinstall windows system.
My OS is win xp pro sp3.

Thanks for your reading and help.

Hello!

I will start this off by freely admitting I'm not great with computers and usually don't know what I'm talking about.

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop.
I recently wiped it clean and installed Windows XP, and have not been able to connect to wireless internet ever since.
I used the Acer website to download the drivers, extracted all the files, etc.

When I open Intel PROSet/Wireless, I get an error message that it is "unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

Also, Intel PROSet/Wireless does not appear on my Device Manager. (The only things that are listed under "Network adapters" is 1394 Net Adapter and Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet.) I feel like that's probably part of the problem, even if I'm not sure why, haha.

What can I do to get my wireless access back?

Thank you.

I bought a toshiba satellite m45-s2692 on April 2, 2006.
It has an intel pro wireless 2200bg adapter - driver v 9.0.1.9
I have it connected a netgear wgr614v5 router.
it has a problem maintaining a constant speed. I watched the network monitor on the notebook and it always shows a "connection excellent" however, the speed is not constant - it will vary from 1mbsp to 54 mbsp - but seldom does it maintain the 54 mbsp.

on 4/20/2006, I sent the machine to toshiba - they replaced the network adapter - or so they said, and wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the original software.
I rec'd the machine back and find that the problem has not changed - it still will not maintain a steady speed so viewing files on other pcs on the lan takes forever and page loads on the net can also occupy too much time.

I have an older toshiba satellite with a netgear wireless wg511t adapter.
I have watched the monitor on that one and it will show connection excellent and maintains a steady speed of 54 mbsp. these two machines can be sitting side by side or in separate rooms and still the old one will maintain it's connection and speed but the new will not maintain the speed.

I called toshiba up again, and they want to say it's my router. I explained to them that another toshiba on the same network does not faulter -- so how can it be the router?
they didn't want to, but they are "granting" me service to send the machine back to them again. I haven't... Read more

Dear all,

I thought I have met this problem before before my two wireless adapters both stopped working.

PCI-E INTEL 5300
TP-LINK WN821N

My case is a little different from those I found on this forum.

1. When I upgraded my thinkpad x200 to win7 64bit, I don't have "Wireless Network Connection", but I fixed it by stopping one setting of Kaspersky and it came back, so when I first found my PCI-E wireless didn't work, I thought the same thing happened, although I didn't remember the details, I tried the Kaspersky, don't work.

2. I updated the drivers, uninstall-install, start-stop-start WLAN AutoConfig... I have done a lot that can be searched on line, never worked for me.

3. Tragedy happened, I adjusted several common options on BIOS, then after several tries I made to make 5300 work, USB wireless died Don't know how to recover it, and back to my laptop again.

Could anyone here help me out? Really appreciate it! I have spent two days on this stuff, if no one can do this, I guess the only way is to reinstall the OS, that's the least thing I want to do.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mic

PS: Unavailable wireless adapters have all zero Mac addresses, also can't be found in control panel.

A:PCI-E intel 5300 wireless doesn't work. Then the USB wireless adapter

Greetings,  I was wondering what to look for if I wanted to upgrade my 320-1030  in terms of a motherboard and CPU? I was contemplating upgrading the CPU to an A8-3820 on the existing board, but I now am wondering if it is possible to move to a faster CPU (which I am assuming would require a new motherboard  if that is possible).

Have a Dell Dimension 5100. With a Netgear WG111v2 wireless adaptor. The wireless connection started failing about 1 week ago (router is fine as other wired and wireless internet connections work well). Erratically, the wireless connection will restore and then disconnect again. Mostly it won't connect wirelessly (wired ethernet connection is fine...but i'm running 50 feet of Cat5 cable for this).

I just today started getting a the following message in a box under the WG111v2 heading: "Open Settings.rtf file failed!" --but i can just click OK a couple of times and seems to have no consequence.

Also, the printer (HP 6980 desk jet) connected to PC via USB, sometimes is not recognized by the PC. This is usally fixed thru a reboot.
I run AVG anti-virus and Malwarebytes spyware and both say all is OK.

Any ideas?
