Solved: Install a driver for your network adapter (HP 2000-369WM Notebook PC)

Q: Solved: Install a driver for your network adapter (HP 2000-369WM Notebook PC)

Just reinstalled this computer with the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system. After the installing there was no networks available to connect to. I even connected it through an Ethernet cable and nothing happened. I clicked on the troubleshoot link and windows network diagnostics and it says to Install a driver for your network adapter. Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver. I tried to reinstall the operating system and nothing change. Not sure what to do. Can anyone help?

Hi, I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my PC after accidentally formating the HHD because of a faulty image system I tried to restore.  I was able to download and install most of the drivers that I required from this page on hp website: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-2000-300-notebook-pc-series/5145724/model/5171088... However the chipset driver seems to be missing. The processor is: AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.65HGzThis seems to be the motherboard information of the pc: Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard            Product: 3577SerialNumber: PCHMCA47V1R2BJ             Version: 24.49 I obtained that information by running the following command on the command prompt:    >wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer, version, serialnumber The rest of the pc specs are on this hp page (its google cache version since the page look blank to me otherwise):http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03015474&DocLang=en&docLocale=en_US&... Any help would be appreciated.

A:My HP 2000-369wm notebook won't boot past the HP logo screen...

Not a lot of info here1) Can you access the BIOS /CMOS screen2) IF yes can you move around the screens and or see that the system has recognised the hard drive. Does the system make any strange noises? How long does it take to switch on ?Is it getting over hot? What happen eventually?Do you can you power it off easily or do you have to hang on to the power button to get it to go offWith it powered OFF!Have you tried removing the hard drive?Reseatting the Memory?Removed the Optical drive? If no then try this below.  Try using a boot DVD/CD to establish if the system will 'get out of bed' Or a linux boot flash stick you can then see if the system is viable and or if the system can access the Hard drive(s) It will also allow you to recover the data transfer to a flash stick.

Okay my laptop model is HP Pavilion g6-1301sa Notebook PC. When i first got the computer it was windows 7. A Couple of months later i deiced to try out ubuntu. I Installed it over windows 7. Now i tried to switch back to windows today. I Had to burn a disc with the windows 7 64 Bit ISO. I am now back on Windows 7 but having issues with the drivers. I can't connect to the internet due to no network adapter driver. I Have tried to download and install it a number of items but it either says 'You did not install that correctly' or it says nothing. I Have restarted the computer but the computer still says i need to install the driver. I Also can't even use my USB. I Have checked the drivers for them and it's fine. Just it won't even show up just makes a noise when i plug it in

A:HP Pavilion g6-1301sa Notebook PC Wireless Network Adapter Driver

Hello and welcome Jooshy Well not to put too fine a point on it my friend what you should have done was to burn a bootable Ubuntu disk when you boot from it you choose the non install option. I use this on quite a few occasions to solve hard drive problems when Windows will not boot or someone has lost their password.

However whats done is done. I don't know if that Ubuntu install would have wrecked the partition that is installed at the factory that you can use to do what is known as a factory default. Now if you are game you can try this > On power up tap F11 and it takes you into a repair install.

If the partition is gone then you are going to have to do what you are doing now. That being the case then you are going to have to keep at the driver site.

Also can you confirm that model number please as I cannot find any reference to the one quoted in the HP site. Plus can you give us a shot of the disk > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management and send the pic back so that we can see what there is on the C: drive. (see my pic)

It's a Microsoft product, so probably using Device Manager to "update driver" and allowing it to search the web will probably fetch the latest driver.

Hi and welcome to SF,

1. Please download the latest driver from the computer manufacturer's website or motherboard manufacturer's website if a custom build.

2. Please let us know whether it is a wired connection or wireless connection.

3. After downloading the latest drivers please post an ipconfig /all for us to review.

4. If a wireless connection please download xirrus

Please post results in next post please.

Hey guys, I just wanna let you know that if you have a "Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)" I recommend that you don't install the driver recommended by windows update. Once installed it disconnected me from the internet. I tried W7 troubleshoot option, but it could not solve the problem. I checked my modem, and everything was fine. So I just rolled back to my old driver, and my connection was fine again. Just letting you know.

I heard that it is best to download the updated drivers from their site (or your mobo's), not through windows update.

Here's a link (thanks to Andysweb) to get the updated drivers (Win7 compatible): [link]

Hello friends. I originally had windows 8 on my PC but had to reformat it. The problem is... that my disk drive broke and it stays ejected and won't inject so i was not able to use my windows 8 disk that came with the pc to reformat it. Which was why I ended up torrenting windows 7 professional through a USB boot-up. I downloaded windows 7 successfully but the only problem is that cannot access the internet and when i troubleshoot i get the error that i need to install drivers for my network adapter. I also do not have the network adapter inside my device manager.

I have been trying to find a solution for hours and i think i have to download drivers. The problem is i dont know what drivers to download.

Under system information, under problem devices, these are my errors:

Ethernet Controller - PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_78171462&REV_0C\01000000684CE00000 - The drivers for this device are not installed.

Not Available - ACPI\INT33A0\0 - The drivers for this device are not installed.

PCI Simple Communications Controller - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_78171462&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0 - The drivers for this device are not installed.

I would greatly appreciate any kind of help. I have been at this for hours and it's driving me insane. Note that I'm currently using my laptop to type this out and that im able to use a USB device to transfer drivers from my laptop to my pc

Thank you!

Hello all,

I had windows 8 installed on my PC, everything's was fine except that system was getting slow, so I decided to install windows 7, as I didn't like 8.

Now I have no internet connection, it says "Install a driver for your network adapter".

I am also missing some other drivers, in Device Manager under Other devices it looks like this:
Ethernet Controller
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller

When I right-click and choose Properties, it does not give extra information, neither under General nor under Details.

I'm desperate to find a solution, I've been reading forums for a solution for an hour now, people seem to get this very same error, however,
I don't know what drivers I should download.

I do have internet connection, I'm using the same connection right now.

This has never occured to me before.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Welcome to the forum,

That's a Realtek driver you're looking for which should be on your motherboard website.

You only list MSI so I can't pin it down any further without the full model number.

You can also try the Realtek site, the 8168 is covered in this download,

Hi I have just installed a new Windows 7 64-bit on my drsktop PC and I have found that i cant connect to my wifi because the driver for my Belkin F5D7050 Wireless G USB Network Adapter wont install.

I have made a backup of all the drivers on my PC when I was still running Win7 32-Bit so just to say the things I have tried to do are going into device manager and searching for a new driver for the USB2.0 WLAN which hasn't got a driver (this is the belkin adapter in decice manager) but it just keeps saying it was unable to find the driver.

I have also tried going on the belkin website and downloading the exact driver I need from there and installing the setup but also with no success.

Hello,
After spending my entire friday trying to fix my mom's pc, I'm stumped... She recently purchased a new 2T HDD, 8 more GB of 1333 DDR3 Ram (12 GB total), and Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Everything was installed smoothly and works with the exception of the network adapter. I've installed the network driver posted on EVGA's website as well as tried many different suggested techniques (with the exception of trying to reinstall the OS), but still have no luck.

I do still have the OS on the original 150GB HDD she had previously however it was 32bit Professional that I got from school (Don't have the original disk anymore) and wouldn't accept any more Ram higher than 3GB and she needed more hard drive space as well.

If someone could help without having me reinstall the OS on the 2T HDD if possible, I would greatly appreciate it.

Motherboard: EVGA P55 SLI (132-LF-E655-KR)
CPU: Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz
RAM: Corsair 2 x 2GB 1333 DDR3, GSkill 2 x 4GB 1333 DDR3 (12GB Total)
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5
HDDs: Seagate Barracuda 150GB, Seagate Barracuda Green 2000GB

If you need anymore information just ask. Thank you!

A:Network Adapter Driver not found after Clean Install of Windows 7

Plug in the old HD, boot into the new Win7, in Device Manager open Network Adapter, click on Driver tab, choose Update driver, browse to the old Win7's Windows>system 32 folder to install the driver. It will always be there.

There is more information here about getting and maintaining a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 including how drivers are handled differently in Win7 than before.

You also are entitled to use 32- or 64-bit with each Win7 license so didn't need to buy another copy. You can use the Student license now on another PC, in either bit version.

AT&T recently came out and replaced our Uverse modem, upon which iPad could connect to the new network, but neither of our laptops. I'm only a little technical with hardware/system issues, so after none of the more obvious troubleshooting issues worked, I started searching for more information and came across this site....great!! Eventually resolved the issue, suspect the wired connection through modem/router did the trick, but also updated the network adapter drivers.

This (husband's) laptop was doing fine for a few hours, but then suddenly lost connection -- appeared that the network adapter was disabled. But when I went to enable it, it was gone!! It no longer appears in the Device Manager list at all. (It is/was an Atheros AR5700)

Searching for info suggests either a registry error, a virus that makes system unable to locate adapter, or a driver issue. I still have the driver files but don't know how to re-install them w/o presence of actual adapter. Am running virus scan, but in case that is a dead end, would like to get suggestions on other possible causes/steps.

Thanks in advance!

Notebook: HP Pavilion zv5434rs PC series, refurbished
Operating software: XP, ? pro or home
Problem: Can't connect to Internet via broadband
RJ45 Adapter: Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC #2

I have always gotten the message "Network cable not connected" when I've tried to connect this notebook to my existing DSL connection, even when using the network cable that is now connecting my PC to the net to post this message (so, the cable works). I contacted HP's online chat service yesterday about it and received some good help. Unfortunately, it didn't work. One of the things they gave me was an updated driver for the Realtek adapter (above). If that didn't work I was to reset the TCP/IP settings by typing "etsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" in the open field. Before getting offline to try these things, I confirmed with the tech that I was connecting the notebook correctly by inserting the RJ45 plug in the above adapter and the RJ11adapter into the phone jack. He said yes, and I should also check the cable and adapter, too. Well, neither the driver nor the reset worked; I knew the cable was okay but I got new RJ45 and RJ11 plugs. Those did not work, either. While poking around, though, I've noticed in Device Manager that the adapter properties are not picking up the new driver. I installed it correctly last night, and this morning went in and redid it all manually; it all went well, and I rebooted, and the device propert... Read more

A:Getting notebook RJ45 adapter to recognize driver/cable

Just a follow-up, in case anyone else has the problem. Finally did get through to HP, and they had me download an updated BIOS and then reinstall the drivers with the Application Recovery Disk. It did not help. HP kind of ran out of ideas, and I decided to use the OS disk to repair the Windows XP that came on the system. Unfortunately, this is a refurbished notebook, and I assumed the seller (Radio Shack) had cleaned it up first. Apparently not; it asked for the administrative password before it would repair the OS. Of course, I didn't have it. The folks at Radio Shack couldn't help me, either.

So I bought a new Dell notebook. :-(

But I suspect, if the problem was the BIOS, that the OS probably got corrupted and likely repairing it, or at worst, reinstalling it would have solved the problem. If that didn't work, I was going to upgrade to XP Professional.

Alrighty! Here goes!

I've been searching online for five hours looking for fixes for this. I recently replaced the Windows 8 on this Notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Edition because, simply put, I bloody hate Windows 8.

This has become problematic for me because it appears that there are no compatible drivers that pair Windows 7 and this device's hardware.

I posted in Yahoo Answers about an hour and ten minutes ago and I'm incredibly frustrated with the results (go figure). A link to that question, in case I forget any information I mentioned there: Downgrading to Windows 7 with HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook? - Yahoo! Answers

The product information page for the HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook is located here: HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC Product Specifications HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC | HP? Support

I have several drivers that are "Out of date." The main one that I'm worried about is the Graphics/Display driver. On the HP website, the device is listed as: Intel HD graphics 3000 with up to 1696MB total graphics memory.

I've tried installing the Windows 8 drivers (which do nothing) and I have also tried updating my drivers through Windows Update. I've also visited HP's driver site, Intel's, and even NVidia, I believe, all to no avail.

I'm hoping that an informed someone can tell me whether or not there are drivers for my graphics chip, and if there are, where I can find them and how I can install them in working order.

Thank you so much for any help! ... Read more

So I recently bought a Samsung Notebook, Model Code: NP-RV515. It came installed with the 32-bit version of windows starter so naturally I went on to try and install the 62-bit version of Windows Ultimate. Unfortunately, my network drivers were lost and upon trying to install new drivers from the manufacture site a prompt appeared telling me that "The Device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system". I know this is impossible because I had wi-fi on the starter version.
Secondly, my monitor resolution, which was at 1366x768 on the starter version now has 1024x768 as its highest option.
Please help.

A:Samsung Notebook Network Adapter and Screen Resolution Problems.

You may need to download and install the 64-bit drivers for the problem devices from Toshiba's Africa website. This is the drivers page for your model:

Where it says "Select your language", select "English".
Then click "Driver" in the downloads table.

Hi,

So recently I have removed a nasty zeroaccess rootkit virus(es) from my laptop. My Windows Firewall, Defender and Updates would not work (still won't), my browser kept redirecting to unrelated websites, and I was just overall having a TON of irritating issues. I installed MalwareBytes and Zone Alarm in addition to my Microsoft Security Essentials and restarted my computer once - everything seemed fine. I went to delete a few programs from my computer via the control panel, just unneeded things like Canon software I don't even use anymore. My computer told me I needed to restart so I did, and when it turned back on, I suddenly had no more Internet access.

It registers that my Internet providers are being picked up on (as in, it says Silver Moose is emitting a signal yet I have "limited access") and all other devices using the network in my home are working just fine. I tried troubleshooting and it says that there are problems with the wireless network adapter and the driver for wireless network connection adapter.

I've read that removing a 0access will render someone Internet-less but some people have overcome this. However, every thread I've already taken a look at don't exactly fit with my problems/computer model, so I wanted to stay on the safe side and get help fitted exactly to me. I have Windows 7 64 bit., a Gateway model NV78. I don't know if my processor/Intel(R) Core details are needed. If so, I'll gladly provide them.

I ran ipconfig /all and was ... Read more

A:Problems with wireless network adapter and network connection driver

First with this remove Zone alarm, while it use to be a great product, it cause more issues than it's worth these days.
Next, Start menu-> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on command prompt and run as Administrator.

Type in netsh winsock reset and reboot, see if the combination of these will help.

Otherwise, system restore is very simple to use and will only affect programs installed, not your personal files. If this doesn't solve the issue pick a time before the rootkit, a couple weeks if possible, and just restore it. You can scroll through all the date to make note of any changes that will be made. Make sure to re-install your AV and Malwarebytes afterwards to keep you protected.

Also, I do not work for Malwarebytes, but $29 for a lifetime license and an active protection module is absolutely worth it.

I have a network here at work that is using an NT4.0 server. I have a computer that is running Windows 2000 pro that needs to logon to the domain through a wireless connection (running in a trailer in the parking lot). I can get everything to connect and work if I log into the workstation itself, however if I try to log onto the domain I get an error message indicating that the domain is not available. I know that XP has the ability to initialize the wireless connection prior to login but I can't find anyway to do this with W2K. I am using a Netgear WG121 USB (G) adapter with a Netgear WG602 access point. I have WEP turned on in the open mode.

A few days ago I did a clean install of Windows 7. Now I have a problem. The computer is a wireless 'client'. It has a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).

When I bring up Device Manager and expand 'Network adapters' I see "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller".

When I expand 'Other devices' I see "! Network Controller" (Note the exclamation point.) Double click on that and I see "The driver for this device is not installed. (Code 28). When I click on Update driver I get a message Can't find a driver. I have tried many times with different source folders and files and nowhere is a driver found.

I have gone to MSIs driver web page and downloaded the Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Driver for Windows 7 32/64 bit "realtek_pcielan_7_nb.zip", extracted the files and still no joy. (M/B is MSI G41M with Intel E7400)

There is a wireless icon in the tray. I click 'Open network and sharing center". No matter what I choose Win7 ends up telling me to plug in an Ethernet cable. No, this is a client not the server. I have verified that the NIC can connect to the computer with the Ethernet cable by using the old XP hard disk.

Any suggestions?

I have just completed installing Windows XP with SP 2 on to my new (2011) HP G72-b60US Notebook PC.

Hardware Specs:
HP G72-b60US Notebook PC Product Specifications - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

I found this link for my drivers:
Driver HP G72-b60US Notebook PC for Windows XP | DriversTools

However, four of them did not install because they were either for Windows Vista, Win 7 or weren't compatible. I need my Graphics Driver, Audio, Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, and an 'unknown device'(?). The audio installed, but it still shows up w/ a question mark and the quality is poor so I assume it's the wrong one.

Attempted to install Driver Detective, but it wouldn't take...I assume because there is no internet connection?

Has anyone else done a complete XP makeover on their HP G72-b60US Notebook PC? Or ideas on what I can do next? HP no longer supports XP so going to them is useless for drivers.

Thanks for any advice!

OK, so I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Canon support and they were awesome. But in the end they had no idea why the printer wouldn't install the driver to make the printer work wireless. It works fine on USB.

So then I called the maker of my laptop (Toshiba) and they couldn't help me either. I'm at a total loss here.
I have a new printer and a new laptop with Windows 7 and no one can figure out what the problem is. I got the printer all set and is set up properly as wireless. I installed the installation CD and it actually sees the printer on the network. But then I get this error message:

NP Drivers

An error occurred while copying files: 0200 0000

If anyone can tell me what the hell is going on here it would be greatly appreciated.
Mike

A:Solved: Computer sees my printer on the network but won't install the driver

Please bring your signature into compliance (3 line max). You can put your (updated ) computer info in the Computer Specs part of your profile.

I'll make the guess that there is a problem reading some files from the CD. Download the installation package from Canon's web site (it may even be an updated version) and try that.

A:G60 Notebook PC Network Controller driver missing after re...

Hi: Most of the G60's came with the Atheros 5007 b/g wlan adapter, so see if this driver works for you... This package contains the drivers for the supported Atheros Wireless LAN Adapters in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54972.exe If that driver doesn't work then I will need you to post the hardware ID for the network controller so I can figure out what model wireless card your notebook has. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the Network Controller needing drivers. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

If it is built into a laptop computer, have you checked if the laptop manufacturer has a web site with driver downloads?

If it is built into a desktop computer's motherboard, have you checked if the computer or motherboard manufacturers have web sites with driver downloads?

If it is built into an expansion card, have you checked if the card manufacturer has a web site with driver downloads?

There are web sites around that offer software that you can run on your computer that will identify what drivers are needed for a particular set of hardware. I am not familiar with them but some other TSG member may be able to help you out.

If none of the above work for you, you can always go to the National Semiconductor site:

Yesterday morning I was still using Vista and had access to the internet. I then installed Windows 8 and found that I could no longer connect. I checked everything, eventually discovering that I didn't have a network adapter driver. My service provider advised me to take my Windows 8 disk to the shop where I bought it and ask them to give me a disk with the missing driver. It seems strange to me that my Widows installation disk wouldn't include the driver necessary to connect to the internet. I am still stuck even if it is possible to download the driver (I am using my son's iMac for this post) unless I can download it to a flash drive and transfer it to my computer. If I were desperate I could reformat the hard drive to its factory settings which would bring back Vista and allow me to connect to the internet.

Sorry for my rambling but I have spent hours trying to solve this problem.

Before this even happened, I was updating my SanDisk SSD Ultra Plus firmware since it was outdated. After the firmware update, I was having problems connecting to my wireless. More than a year ago, I bought an HP Pavilion dm4-3005tx through my cousin in Singapore. It is loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I don't know if it is just a coincidence, few weeks after the warranty expires it freezes while starting the windows. It happened several times until it prompt me to repair by inserting the disc recovery which at that time I was unable to use since the disc that I used was already damaged (due to my fault on poor storage). I was forced to reformat my machine using a counterfeit OS of the same version since I have to do it temporarily as I need to use my machine and downloading an ISO for Windows 7 Home Premium and re-installing it using the product key in the sticker is not possible since I am in an area with poor internet connectivity.

After a few months of using a counterfeit OS, I was able to secure an ISO for Windows 7 Home Premium and I decided to reformat my machine using the ISO, however, it has almost all the drivers gone I need to re-install it but my problem is most of the drivers I downloaded from HP is not compatible with the OS I just installed. Specially the driver for wireless network, I cannot connect to the internet using my machine since all the drivers related to networks cannot be used.

I tried all networking drivers available for my machine but all of them is not compatible. How can it be possible? Please I need help from anybody who can help me.

I just got a new laptop and in my device manage it states I have

Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter

HOWEVER I cannot find a single driver for this adapter. I don't even know if a downloadable driver exists at this point. It says the date of my driver release was December 11th, 2012 so I figured it was out of date since it's been quite a long time. I've looked everywhere including Broadcoms website to no avail. Did I get some faulty forgotten network adapter with the new laptop I just received as a graduation gift?

I wasn't too sure if this would belong in the Hardware section or the Networking section because it involves both subjects.

Recently, I reformatted my Windows XP computer because it was the simplist solution to an annoying error that resulted in the non-working of the computer entirely. I've reformated several times before, and I've had the same following error each time. So why can't I fix it? I don't know. Read on.

I have installed all of the necessary drivers onto the computer and it functions perfectly, but the problem is the network adapter. I'm not sure if most or all ISPs work in similar ways, but the ISP I use provides an installation disk to install the proper necessities for internet activity onto the computer. During the installation, it runs a system compatability check. The second-to-last check it runs is to see if the network adapter is working. It doesn't detect mine.

In the past, my stepdad has fixed the problem twice and I have fixed it once. When he fixed it, he messed around with the computer for a handful of hours and eventually got it to work. (But the second time he fixed it, he didn't remember how he had fixed it the first time so it took a couple of days this time.) The third time - when I ultimately fixed the problem - he, again, couldn't remember how to fix the problem, and was too busy to try to fix it again, so I researched the web for a sollution.

I somehow ended up being advised to download this dr... Read more

I have been experiencing crashes lately especially using newer games like RE5..
or Section 8 (all original) But some games like COD4 or Majesty 2 work just fine..

Anyways what happens is my monitor turns off and there is still sound for a few secs and then that freezes (a sound loop starts which is distorted.. )

anyways I've been looking around and I found this which might explain the crashes..
It seems that the ? mark drive appears every time my pc crashes..

A:My network adapter driver is always disappearing T^T

Did you try "Show Hidden Devices" The driver is not in Device Manager, the Devices are. It also depends on what kind of adapter you are using. If it is a USB device, and you have it set to allow the USB device to go to sleep after a period, it will go offline, until the device or OS is pulled out of sleep mode by the user.

You can connect directly with an ethernet cable to the router and that's what the driver in your photos is for. To get wireless going you need to download and install another driver for your netbook. Have a look on the support website. On my laptop in Device Manager there are drivers showing for three devices - ethernet, wireless and bluetooth.

I purchased a new computer about 10 months ago running Vista 64 bit.
My system crashes intermittently sometimes 4 to 5 times a day. The form of
the crash is that just powers down and is locked. To reboot I first have to
unplug the power cord to the back of the unit. It crashes sometimes while
using fully compatible programs and sometimes while on line using Firefox or IE.
I am using a D-Link WUA-1340 USB network adapter (the router / access point
is on another computer) and I suspect that the driver for this adapter may be
the culprit. In the Device Manager the driver that is being used is a Ralink System 32
with a date of 5/24/09. This must have been installed via a Win update as I
surely did not install it. D-Link has a driver for 64 bit but the date on it is 9/07
and after downloading that and trying to install that over the present driver I
get a message that the current driver is the latest one and is retained. How do
I over ride this? Do I need to uninstall the current driver and then install the
D-Link driver? And if I do, will Win auto update change it on me down the road?
Any other ideas that might be causing these crashes besides the adapter?

I'd check this first - Have a look at the Event viewer logs for errors:

"Start>search type Event Viewer and Under Event Viewer (Local) Custom Views> Administrative Events" and look for any repeated errors. If it still looks like is the adpater causing the issue:

Yes. Remove the driver the via device manager, Do not reboot (even if it asks) and install the older one.

Alternatively, in Device Manager right-click on your adapter, select properties >driver tab and then select 'roll back driver'

And if I do, will Win auto update change it on me down the road?

Most likely it will. You can either set WU to never check, download but don't install, or check but download.

Once the older driver has been installed, change WU to 'Never Check for Updates' and then manually check for updates.

If the newer driver appears in the WU list, you can 'hide' it so it will not be installed. You can then change your WU settings back to whatever you wish.

I recently reformated and reinstalled XP but I overlooked gathering the drivers. I'm sure I would be able to get them if my computer could connect to the internet but unfortunately I need to get a driver in order to do that. The problem is I can't really find the driver. I looked under System Information and my network adapter is apparently a RAS Async Adapter, but I can't for the life of me find anywhere to get the driver and I'm starting to believe that it's because RAS Async Adapter doesn't really describe my network adapter correctly. I almost got something when I went to CNET but it took me to Microsoft Support or something and it started to scan this computer for updates so I just left cause whatever it finds will be useless to me no doubt.

Anybody have any ideas?

So I use to use an Ethernet cable and it worked fine until yesterday. Don't know what happened but this is how it went down. My brother was using the computer one night and the overclock I was testing failed on him. So he said he changed a few things in the BIOS without success and just turned it off. He has no clue what he did so in the morning I turned it on and reset the BIOS to its stock settings. It started up and the internet just wouldn't connect, says the drivers are not installed. I connect a wireless card and download the drivers then install them but they still don't appear when i go to the device manager. There is no "Network Adapters" option unless the wireless usb card is plugged in. I have no idea what happened. How can I fix this missing driver problem?

My ethernet works fine, but wireless is very crucial for me because I am on the go. Whenever I install it, my device manager says the driver did not install correctly. HI all,

I am not sure whether i m in the appropriate session of the forum to post my problems so please bear with me..or feel free to move to the correct session admins.

As the title suggest, half of my laptop driver are corrupted (network, USB, and sound). I had installed a program called 'motion joy' and play with the software... right after i reboot my laptop, the sound icon and the network icon on the system tray are crossed out. I can see yellow exclamation mark on the drivers icons on device manager.

I made an attempt to roll back those corrupted drivers but nothing happen. Even when i try to update it, it says i had the latest driver. ;( I tried to uninstall the driver but the those driver files at 'system32/driver' are still there. I even tried to run driver CD that comes along with my laptop, and when I run the installer, it states that all the drivers are install.
so bascially now my laptop boot, run program BUT can't access internet , all USB ports are unavailable, and no sound at all. Please help

Hello everyone, okay?
I'm new here on the forum, so I'll introduce you.
I'm 14, I live in Belo Horizonte, play dota for some time, and also quite like computing the influence of my brother who is technical.
Anyway, my problem is the following:

I formatted the computer a client of mine (arrived at by saying yes)
So far so good, he wore xp, told me to install 7 ok, I installed everything properly formatted, that's when I came across the INTERNET was not working (he said he had no driver for the network card) that's where I ask your help because I am fighting a BATTLE MILLENARY since Tuesday with this driver.

The name of it is the motherboard: Intel ? Desktop Board D201GLY2A
I went to the Intel website, I tried to find the driver got, bad was giving the following problem after the installation ended'' Fail to instal drivers''
The other day I went home, downloaded the AIDA64 and saw what devices were'' unknown'' to lower them, and this list was the unknown driver WELL SAID, andnot got his name: SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
So I downloaded the driver, installed and gave the same problem'' Fail to instal drivers''
I thought it was some compatibility issue, I went into device manager, uninstalled the ethernet driver, installed and restarted the pc kept giving the same problem, no network signal. I looked on a few forums and found nothing similar to my problem, or any file that actually worked, and I know not what i do, if it continues I will have to find a w... Read more

I have a Compaq 2190US notebook (specs ) with XP-SP2 Home, and it sorta died over the weekend.

It seems that the networking portion of the OS went berzerk. I was hardly able to boot into windows at all, and if it did work it was incomprehensibly slow (like taking 5+ minutes to go from the logon screen to the desktop). Booting into Safe Mode worked fine, but Safe Mode With Networking had the same issue. That's why I believe the networking is the culprit (I know, my deductive reasoning powers are astounding!).

So I began following the MS KB article about troubleshooting with a clean boot, and tried doing what it said about removing unsigned drivers. Unfortunately, I didn't quite do what it said. When I did the search for unsigned drivers in windows/system 32/drivers, I clicked the "check subfolders" option, which I guess I shouldn't have done. It therefore found that everything in the "etc" subfolder was unsigned, so I tried removing that whole folder and placing its contents in another temporary folder in the root. I also removed two PGP drivers.

When I tried to boot back up, the system would completely freeze at the logon screen. Either that, or I at least could not interact with the system at all. The keyboard and mouse did nothing.

I tried using the Recover Console, but it won't let me access that temporary folder to copy the drivers back to windows/system 32/drivers/etc." So I tried doing a repair installation with the XP CD... Read more

A:How to install a Lan adapter driver to my desktop?

1. Go to start>right click on Computer select manage This opens computer management.

2. Open Device Manager on left.

3. Select Network Adapter...(little arrow beside it)

Write down the name of it and go to a PC with internet and google the name of your NIC with driver download and the version of your OS Win 7 or XP.

EX: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller driver download Win 7

4. Copy the driver onto an USB key or burn to cd/dvd or whatever you have to do to transfer it over to the desktop, and install it.

Should give you network access as its obvious that Windows doesn't have the driver or it would of loaded a generic on install.
