(unable to delete profile folder)

Q: (unable to delete profile folder)

(we have roaming profiles set up and usually when i create a new user i just copy an existing user and then i create a profile folder and copy a profile over but sometimes i forget to create the folder and when i log on as the new user, a folder is automatically created.

my question is how do i delete that folder? when the folder is automatically created even if i have the administrator take ownership i am still denied access.

we are running a windows 2000 active directory integrated domain.

thanks in advance for your assistance.)

I am trying to rename a user profile under C:\Users (I am logged into the Administrator profile on my computer), and am getting an error that the folder or file is in use, so I cannot rename it.

I have tried multiple options to fix it after researching online:
I tried ending the "explorer.exe" process, and then restarting it via "new task" in task manager. It was suggested that this would "unlock" the file or folder for a short period of time. It did not work for me.
I tried clearing both my recycle bin and my "Thumbnails" folders from Disk Cleanup. That also did not work for me.
I was going to try to disable thumbnail caching temporarily by following instructions online, but the computer was unable to locate "gpedit.msc".
Could anyone advise? This is a very important step of a process I'm being worked with on in a separate thread and I cannot proceed until I have renamed this file, and am afraid to restart the computer since I've just done a "takeown" command on this Administrator profile.

I have seen multiple question and answers in forum regarding this GPO to Delete User Profiles Older than a Specified
Number of Days on System Restart not working or some hotfixes, in my environment it is working on all required systems in one OU. But in some PCs it is not deleting the parent folder and some folder under appdata.
like c:\Users\DomainUser\Appdata\local\abc\efg\
so the profile data like my documents, pictures, desktop etc are deleted but folder structure "\DomainUser\Appdata\local\abc\efg\" in efg folder is empty, which creating confusion during Audit and physical check.

Hey, All.

I was just browsing with firefox yesterday and then a blue screen occurred. Blue screens were not new to me since my hard drive is getting really old and I believe the blue screen was caused by my deteriorating hard drive.

Anyways, after rebooting windows ran check disk but as it was running I saw something new from my normal check disk blue screen recovery runs. It was doing something called "File cross linking" I did not know what it was so I just let it run. But after a while it stopped the cross linking thingy because hard drive space run out (my hard drive had only 4 gb of free space remaining).

It then exited the check disk and after I logged in to windows, I ran firefox. To my surprise all of my tabs, addons, bookmarks, etc. Were gone! But I was not really affected of this since I keep a back up folder of my profile folder so I just simply copy and pasted the back up unto the profile folder. I then ran firefox again and all off my things were back in order. So my problem now is that windows was telling me that free space remaining was really few. I cleaned with ccleaner, and then looked for the mysterious file or folder that ate up 3 gb of my remaining 4gb remaining.

I found out that the folder that ate up the memory was the firefox profile folder. I then uninstalled firefox and then the 3gb that the folder ate halved.

I tried deleting the whole Mozilla folder inside my application data directory, but I couldn't. I kept getting a "C... Read more

Hi All,

I just recently got a new bigger SSD to use as my boot drive. I wanted to move my User Profile over to my secondary HDD to help save room on the SSD. I used Brink's tutorial User Profile - Change Default Location (which was great by the way) in order to do this. Everything worked out smoothly until I went to delete the old user profile folder.

When I go to delete the folder a window pops up warning me that the file is shared (which it isn't) and asks me if it is OK to continue. Once I click continue another window pops up and informs me that the action can't be completed because the folder is open in another program. I can't seem to figure out what is open. I have tried using different administrative profiles and rebooting the computer multiple times but nothing seems to work. I was however able to delete the folders inside the user folder (Documents, Pictures, Music etc.) without any problems.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there is a way to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated and please let me know if anymore information is needed.

Thanks in advance,
JackALope

Hi All,
Im facing a wierd problem regarding "users management" in a domain.
User profile on node was created by running login script from the domain (Domain Win2000 and Node Win XP) when node was connected to domain.
When i delete the user account thru "Document and Settings" or thru "User Profiles in advanced tab in System Properties", it does not delete user account completely.
Even though after i delete the user account it does not show up anywhere, but when i try to login with deleted user name it let me login and then create it at appropriate location.(No matter the node is conected to domain or not)

I tried the whole procedure with disconnected node as well connected.
It's not working out.
Is there any other location where XP stores the login info (i kno a little about sam log file, but don't know wht to do with that)
Also tried deleting thru Registry Keys. No go.

I'll really appreciate if any of you guys could help me out with this problem.
In case u have any clue please email it to me at "[email protected]" or try to chat with me at "[email protected]" or [email protected]"

Thanking in anticipation

I have deleted the main profile on my Lounge PC to clear up some issues, while keeping the user folder to copy back in the settings after creating a new profile of the same name.

I always disable Windows media streaming to reduce unnecessary network load however the streaming location for the old profile still shows up on my DNLA devices.

Is there any way to delete this using the registry?

We have several user profiles that we would like to delete when setting up Windows 7 images so that old users do not have their folders stored on the new images. However, after manually deleting the folders under C:\Users and then
locating their keys in the registry and deleting those, the users' folders return immediately after any of our computers that we try this on gets rebooted.

Is there another step that we're missing? I've been searching around online and have been unable to locate any solutions. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi guys, I have been trying for 3 hours and still unable to delete a particular outdated folder named "cyberghost 5".

It all started with my antivirus deleting a "unins000.msg" from the said folder 6 months ago. I ignored the message and carried on with my life. I had no use for the VPN and left it there.

This afternoon, I tried to uninstall the programme and it couldn't work because unins000.msg wasn't there. I didn't want to do a system restore because I had way too much downloaded studying materials and I couldn't keep track of the stuff.

Now, I ran a regedit and deleted the registries before I started on deleting the folder. STILL, i couldn't delete the folder from the programme file. it said, "You need permissions to perform this action". I crawled through pages of google search to find the solutions and even activated the UAC but all didn't work.

Below are the screenshots.

I tried to give every user under security full control but it still couldn't work. It didn't change a single damn thing. I need your help cos it making me desperate and I am starting to doubt my intelligence and even my existence.

If anybody has an existing copy of cyberghost 5 for me to install and uninstall, I would be very grateful. As of now, Cyberghost stops supporting cyberghost 5 and has come up with cyberghost 6.

PLEASE HELP me..

I've tried changing the properities with the directory and also trying to do it in safe mode. Any suggestions because I could really use the room this directory is taking up. Hi guys, We have an older server 2003 with all sorts of account permissions on it, that also controlled the profile of this PC I'm currently sitting it. I then reinstalled Windows 8 to this PC creating a new profile independent of the server, and as a workgroup network connection. However, Windows 8 also reinstalled user folders from the previous profile that I soimplly can't delete. So I've atken some scrrenshots and posted them here to see if someone might be able to help me get rid of them. It seems a previous account profile created and still controls the permission of these folders and I simply can't find or owrk out how to delete them. Many thanks all.

A:Unable to Delete a Folder.

Two options:
Download PendMoves and MoveFile . There are 2 programs: movefile and pendmove
Open the admin command prompt and run movefile /? so that you'll know the systax on how to use it.
NOTE: usage: movefile [source] [dest]
Specifying an empty destination ("") deletes the source at boot.
If the above does not work then download: Slacko Puppy Linux release . Put it in a USB and boot up. On the bottom left corner you'll see all the drives in your PC. Browse thru them and find what you want to delete.

Hi edifiz

Try again in Safe Mode, logged in as Administrator. And first, in Windows Explorer, make sure the View in "Tools/Folder Options/View" has the selected dot in front of "Show hidden files and folders", and remove the checkmarks from the boxes in front of "Hide extensions for know file types", and "Hide protected protected operating system files.

It's likely this will show some files you previously could not "see". Now you should be able to select and delete them. Once the subfolder is empty, you should then be able to delete it, and it's parent folder as well.

If you still can't delete the files and folders, you may need to gain "ownership" of these. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421/en-us

Best of luck

I have a folder named ZOO, which contains no files. It does contain another folder named ZOO and that hierarchy goes for 51 folders.
I am unable to delete it.
ZOO used to be in Film Factory (Epson), but could not be deleted.
In Windows Explorer, an attempt to delete would yield an EROOR Message:
[Error Deleting File or Folder: Cannot delete ZOO; Cannot find specified file ]

I was able to drag that folder to the Desktop, out of the Program Tree.
When trying to put ZOO into the Recycle Bin, I get the same Error Message.

It could not be deleted in Windows Explorer, nor with ZTREE (program ver 1.49.2) . Ztree stumbles over ZOO when it logs the PC but allows to Skip.
It does not allow deletion either.

I have searched Microsoft's Knowledge Base and do not find applicable
items: ID320081 and others do not seem to apply to Folders, only files.
- Dell Support is useless as usual.
*At this time, ZOO folder sits on the desktop and only reminds me of the problem*
Any suggestions would be welcome on how to delete this empty folder hierarchy.
Thank you.

ADDED: I cannot go to the end of the Folder Hierarchy to delete from the end up, because the system tells me that it is too long. I do not seem to get to end end. It seems longer than 51 (reported somehwere).
In ZTree, I count 53 ZOO foldrs, ending in ZOO\ZOO\*.*

I don't see how it can be used by another person, as this folder is private and I closed all programs before I tried to delete it. Hi, you could try Fileassassin (freeware).. but given you've tried a boot CD, I suspect the simplest way wll be to copy what you want off the disk and reformat it.

There's also Emco MoveonBoot (which also deletes on boot) - freeware.

Given you've tried a boot CD, it's unlikely a command prompt - from a boot CD, not from within Windows- will help.

What can I do to get around this and actually get rid of this from my pc!?

Two questions:
How are you trying to delete it - It sounds as if it is behaving like a shortcut.
If you right click in the folder then "Properties", what does it tell you?
Have you clicked on the Start button, typed in the name of the folder and then right clicked on the folder name to see if there is more than one folder with the same name, and where are they, have you then selected "Open Folder Location" to see is there?

I know the C:\Boot folder is hidden and its needed but I have another C:\Temp folder on the drive which I use for bits and pieces. I decided I wanted to delete this folder but when I tried is said Cannot delete folder: 'You Need Permission To Perform This Action'. I looked in the Temp folder and there was an exact copy of the Boot folder with its 25 sub folders and 3 files. This folder has been in there a couple of months I don't know how it got in there whether I accidentally dragged it in there I don't remember. Now the main C:\Boot folder is still there with the same folders and files but I can't delete the Boot folder in Temp.

I've checked the Properties Security and tried to change the permission of Administrator to full control. I tick all boxes and Apply but it says An error occured while applying security infomation to: C:\Temp\Boot. Access is denied. Continue or Cancel, I click Continue and it says Unable to give permission changes on Boot. Access is denied.

Does anyone have any idea how I can delete this Boot folder please?

I have a folder that has been troublesome lately. View Hidden Files, Don't Hide Anything, Etc Etc yield no files in it, yet it exhibits the following behavior:
If I put a file (like make a new.txt file in it) in it, I can delete it to the recycle bin, emptying the recycle bin yields a 'Cannot remove folder ******: The directory is not empty' (changes with each try)
Restoring the folder after emptying the recycle bin returns the folder, but it no longer has the file in it (new.txt has been deleted).
deleting the folder when it does not have any files in it yields a 'Cannot delete ******: The directory is not empty'
Shift-Deleteing the folder yields the same error (regardless of having a file or not) and deletes any files in it if it had any.
I can move the folder, regardless of it having a file in it or not.
a Cygwin console ls -a or a cmd dir yields three items:
.
..
.
I understand directories shouldn't have a file named .
nothing I have tried (Cygwin rm -r, a Ruby script File.delete, a cmd and command del, and all related rmdir, rds, Dir.delete, etc) can delete it, usually giving a 'directory is not empty' or 'access denied/in use' error.
the issue appeared after having unzipped a sourceforge project release: gccg-source-0.8.92.27 using 7zip. I unzipped it into a directory using its filename.

I haven't had the chance to try: Knoppix or a Dos Boot Disk.
The filesystem is FAT32.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got a folder structure with a very large tree of sub folders. I wrote a script to delete folders older than 30 days. But some folders are not getting deleted.
Then I have tried deleting that folder manually, but getting an error message like 'Unable to delete folder'. I have renamed one parent folder into a single character, then tried deleting the entire tree and succeeded.
What will be the actual problem? file length? but its not exceeding more than 250 chars.
I want to automate this task. Please help me on this issue.

A:Unable to delete Lengthy Folder

wow- you took measures i probably don't even know about but have you tried the small free program called "Unlocker" ? its a very nifty program for things just like the "Unable to delete folder" problem. either that or type "regedit" into the "run" button after clicking start. be careful there though. i'm pretty sure if you delete the wrong thing from there you may be in a pickle. i've used it twice. good luck!

You cannot delete any user folder, IME, since they are system folders and Windows won't allow them to be deleted.

Yesterday I encountered a weird situation. We all know the 256 character Windows limitation, and I always was able to override this issue by renaming the file or folder. This time I had this folder with more than 256 characters, and Windows was unable to open, rename or delete it, in all cases it displayed the "too long..." message. I was finally able to resolve the issue using Winrar to rar and then extract the folder's content and later with a 3rd party tool (XYplorer) which gave me the option to permanently delete it. I was wondering if there is any command or way to deal with this same situation using only Windows' tools. Thanks

I wanted to delete the attached file but I got the ?long path? error (attached).

How the folder can be deleted anyway?

Thank you

A:Unable to delete a folder due to long path,

One of those things you perhaps need to be sat in front of to play with...

Have you tried dragging the folder elsewhere, say to documents and deleting from there ?

Is it in a separate HDD ? if so have you tried using the HDD on another PC and deleting from there.

And totally crazy suggestion... browse for the folder by using the "insert image" option on this forum (as if you were attaching a picture). When the forum window opens and you have the folder showing can you right click and delete it from there.

I have an Ext HDD with 3 partitions H,J and K. H drive has a folder RECYCLER and J,K has a folder Recycled and all of them cannot be deleted.

I tried deleting them with the help of unlocker, unlocker says the object is deleted but the folder stills remain there.

I tried deleting them with Killbox but they cannot be deleted.

The content of the folder is not accessible but with unlocker it can be accessed and contains the files and folder attached in the screen shot.

After opening the recycler all other files can be deleted except the file INFO2, I am using Kaspersky internet security 11 and it cannot quarantine the file. The folders named...are system folders. As long as you have the drives attached to the system...and you are using the Recycle Bin setting for separate bins for each partition/drive...System Volume Information and Recycler folder should be present on any partition. The Recycler folders can subsequently be deleted by changing the settings for the Recycle Bin to maintain one folder for all partitions and immediate deletion of files. My Recycle Bin settings call for such and I just deleted the Recycler folders on my partitions which are not the system partition. The System Volume Information folder is related to System Restore, while the Recycler folder is self-explanatory. It will be present, regardless of whether the user employs System Restore (I do not) or not. It's there because it's a basic system folder and XP won't allow you to delete it.See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/136517 for more info on Recycle Bin function.Louis

Hey all -

Have an issue with my wife's Vista PC that has me stumped. She has a folder on the desktop, it has the "shared" icon on it. I can get into the folder and see it is empty (with Show All Hidden Files active). The problem comes when I try to delete it.

If I try to delete it (Right Click>Delete), the system hangs and hangs until I have to power down the computer.
If I try to unshare the folder the system hangs for sometime, then tells me I do not have administrator rights to remove sharing. (My username is a local admin on the PC)
I right click>properties there is 0 file size to the folder.

Tried to boot to safe mode to delete, still no good, same issue.

Any ideas? Thanks.

XP Pro, SP3. I'm ultimately trying to remove a Blackberry Desktop Manager from my system. I thought I had successfully removed an earlier version and began installing a later version. Turns out neither version is completely installed or removed. The screen icon says ver 4.7, Add/Remove software says ver 4.2.
Ver 4.7 won't run, Ver 4.2 won't uninstall or remove.
Add/Remove software won't remove either one, it begins, then stops and gives me an error message that basically says it can't access specific files and it rolls back and quits.
I've tried to delete the specific files and or folder that contains the files through Windows Explorer and from the CMD line, and have attempted to Delete from Safe Mode. All attempts to remove either the files or the folder containing the files says "Access Denied". Hi,

I looked around for answers, but haven't gotten one, so I decided to make this post as it caters directly to my needs.

My old account got corrupted from installing a program for connecting my laptop to my college's WiFi. Anyway, I was told by the college's IT Dept. to create a new account (richard) and delete the old account (ralobban). I did all that, and now the ralobban folder remains (see images). What shall I do?

A:Unable to delete a deleted user's folder

Hello Ralobban, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Right click on the C:\Users\ralobban folder, and click on Share with -> Nobody.

Next, if you haven't already, delete the ralobban account in User Accounts (Control Panel).User Account - Delete
Now see if you are able to delete the C:\Users\ralobban folder. If need be, you could also try deleting the folder in a command prompt at boot.Folder - Delete from Command Prompt
Hope this helps,

I then tried the take ownership trick, but it hasn't changed anything, here are my results attached to this message. Literally, I created it then not even five minutes later it's corrupt and can't be used.

I had a suite of programs that I wanted to uninstall. In Control Panel I chose to install the suite. There was an error. I tried to reinstall the software but still couldn't uninstall a dialog box opened and said the suite was already uninstalled. and offered to delete the entry. None of the programs worked so i assumed they were correct. Now I want to delete this suite from the programs directory but Win 7 complains that there is a file from the folder open somewhere. I made a clean boot and tried again. I looked in System processed under task manager but there is nothing there.

So, to make a long story short, I want to boot in Safe Mode and see if I can delete the folder. The problem is, I don't know how to get that choice! I rebooted and held down the F12 key but all I get is a selection of drives to boot from. I am running an Acer X3910, Win 7 Ultimate in 64bit mode.

I had a folder on my Desktop that just won't delete. It was apparently being shared with my Xbox360. I right-clicked it, pressed Delete, and it said it was being shared and if I was sure I wanted to do it anyways. So, of course, I said Yes. It deleted everything within the folder, yet the folder still remained.

I've been having the problem of my Desktop not updating when files/folders are deleted, so I have to manually refresh after a delete to show it gone. Well, the folder decided to stick around. I tried Renaming, Deleting, changing Folder Permissions, CMD's RMDIR, Indexing Options Restart, Reboot of the Computer.....Nothing seems to help.

If I try to open the folder, I get a "Location is Not Available" along with the "Access Is Denied" error. Going to Properties>Security prompts me that I don't have permission to view or edit permission settings. Under Advanced says the same thing and for Owner it says "Unable to Display Current Owner."

I'm running Windows 7 x64 on an Alienware M17x Laptop

I have no idea where else I can possibly go from here. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Hi All,

Have a problem that sounds super simple, but, for some reason isn't... I can't delete a folder!

There is a folder left over from an uninstalled product called "Symantec". When I attempt to delete this, I get the message "You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this file". Clicking the "Try Again" button does nothing and the same message reappears.

I have tried to take ownership of the file through Properties > Security > Advanced, however, I get this error:
"An error occured while applying security information to (file path). Failed to enumerate objects in the contianer. Access is denied."

I have also tried to use an elevated command prompt to run the takeown command on this directory, however, get the "Access is denied." message for all files.

Any ideas on how to delete this file - unlocker does not work either!

Appreciating any help on this matter.

Hello
we had a windows server 2008 Domain network.
now we have deployed a brand new windows server 2012 R2 forest.
so we must disjoin client computers from previous domain and join them to this new domain.
when users of this new domain login to their computers, new profile folder is created for them (e.g. c:\users\u1.newdomain.lab, but this folder definitely doesn't contain their previous profile folder contents (desktop, documents, App data....)
what is the best solution to migrate user profiles from each previous user to related new user without any problem ?
i tried copying the entire profile folder of each user & replace it on the profile folder new user, but some problem arises, when this new user tries to login using this replaced profile folder.
i am not sure is it right forum to ask user profile related question?
thanks in advanced

I have a batch file to delete temp files but it will not delete folders.
DEL /s /q c:\"Documents and Settings"\Username\"Local Settings"\Temp
If I use the following it deletes Temp file also. I do not want that.
rd /s /q c:\"Documents and Settings"\BillandWezzie\"Local Settings"\Temp
I hope there is some other way, because I have other folders that I do not want to lose. I think the above folder will come back when needed, but I am not sure.

Hi all,
I'd like to delete students cached profile when they log out.
Apparently, delprof.exe does not with with Win7, and the method has been replaced with the GPO setting
ComputerConfig>Admin Templates>System>User Profiles>Delete Cached Copies of Roaming Profiles.

However, this is happening at the Workstation level. Preferably I'd like to get it done at a User level, so I can add it to the User-Student GPO.
I dont want the lecturers profiles to be deleted, just the students.

We also dont want to use any 3rd party tools.

Any suggestions?
Regards,

Hello xarden, I see this has gone unanswered, I have no experience in this area, but in Googling I found something close I believe. Perhaps with this at the top, someone else will have an answer if this doesn't help you.

Vista Business 32-bit. I have 2 ALMOST similar profiles and the wrong one is always selected first, giving limited access.

How can I delete the first, faulty, profile? I have worked around it by turning off the auto-connection for the faulty one, but I'd really like to delete it.

Network and sharing center on the left pane should be an entry Manage wireless networks. Alternatively if it's a network location problem. from NSC select customize and there should be a Merge or delete locations in the bottom left corner.

I have a user that suddenly can't print. Nothing I do seems to work. As far as I'm concerned everything on his computer is set correctly. He can ping the print server and see the print server on Network Neighborhood but when he tries to connect he gets an error message that the server he is trying to connect to is not available!

This just happened out of the blue. He was able to print a few days ago. Nothing new has been installed that I know of.

Anyhoo, on a long shot I logged on to his machine using my credentials and everything works fine! I can print w/ no problem. It was at that moment that I figured his user profile on his machine was messed up. Easy fix, right? Wrong.

Logging in as administrator I went to My Computer/Advanced Settings/User Profiles and looked for the troublesome profile. I found his profile but guess what? The option to delete is GREYED out! I tried highlighting the other accounts and the option to delete was not greyed out. What the hell???? Is something preventing this account from being deleted??? How is it that the admin account cannot delete a regular account? This definitely raised some flags but unfortunately I don't know how to get around this.

Help!

removed granddaughter's profile from mom's machine. Found viruses, cleaned them off. But I need to remove her directory under Users, and it just hangs up after a simple delete. Is there program that lets me completely blow away that directory?

A:old profile files won't delete

First, you must have ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS to mess with other people's accounts.

1.  Make sure that you're signed on with an account with ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS.
2.  Go under "Users" in the control panel
3.  Delete the account there
4.  If any other files are left under her "profile" folder, you should be able to delete them.
4.1.  I suggest you use a program that allows for secure deleting of the files.

Have a great day!

I have a Lenovo T61 that I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Ultimate. Wireless networking works fine except for one profile that was used in Vista. When I try to connect to that particular site, the network attempts connect but always fail. The network trys to connect to a profile that was previously used in this situation, however the properties indicate Windows Vista. I believe if I could delete the profile, a new one would be created and connection could be made.

The problem is: I cannot delete the profile. I cannot locate it on the system. The only time it appears is when trying to connect to this particular site. A text file is generated when I use the troubleshooter. Please see below. Any help provided would be appreciated.

Connection status: Disconnected

Verify that the encryption settings (WEP/TKIP/AES) specified in this profile match those expected by the wireless network.
Verify that the wireless adapter in your computer has not been restricted from accessing the radio channels being used by the wireless network.

If the problem persists, contact your network administrator and provide the troubleshooting information below.

Hello, I have done a few google searches online to what these xerox folders and ms frontpage folders are doing in my c drive. Was thinking they were harmful. The cause for concern is that I am not allowed to delete them. After reading some of the searches I was confused with all the info and most of those posts were from 5 years ago (ancient history). I am wondering a couple things:

1) Is it possible to delete these folders (I want to because I'm rebellious and have spent enough time on the task to want to see them get demolished) and if so, how? I already tried safe mode and deleting, just comes right back on the reboot.
2) Why are they on my computer and after reading, everyone else's computers?

Thanks!

I am told I have to delete the profile made after downloading Win 10.
Does this mean the Administrator account I use or the hidden Administrator account made by Win 10.
No where in the instructions on how to roll back is there a requirement to log in as hidden admin and delete the normal account to start the roll back.

Good evening!

In August I bought a HP 15-AC170NB. (windows 10) The laptop was standing in the store for a couple months. I bought that one because it was the last. They have resetted the whole laptop, making it ready for me to use it.
When I came home I began making my own account etc... Everything worked fine. But everytime when my log-in screen shows up. Then there is a microsoft account that shows up first. I thought i could simply delete it because the account i've made was admin. But the account (Frank reuser) Is nowhere to be found. Not at the user registry nor at the user accounts. It's really bothering me. I can fix computer problems easily. But right now i'm hopeless with this problem.

I tried to contact Microsoft but they ignored me.
I also contacted the store but they couldn't help me... The only thing they advised me to do was putting my laptop back to fabric settings. I don't want to do that because I have alot programs installed already.

I hope someone can help; I would really appreciate it;

(sorry for my english tho )

I wanted to remove my user profile and all its data and credentials from a machine I was handing over to AN Other.
I know that, as usual in Windows, there is more than one way to kill a cat...

... so I used Control Panel/User Accounts (as main Admin user) and deleted User GS and all its data.
No problem - it all worked, so I thought...
Then I looked in File Explorer at C:\Users and C:\Users\GS was still there!!!
So I restarted (to be sure), looked again, selected the GS folder, Right Click/Delete ... Unsuccessful .

?Properties of folder GS = 5 folders + 0 files occupying 0 bytes, but GS appeared to be empty.
Set Show Hidden folders, and discovered Appdata with a Roaming subfolder (sorry I don't have the exact tree any more), which ended up with a references to the Libraries collection.
More sleuthing, and I found the computer I was using still had a reference to my personal cloud data in OneDrive Documents

... and then I found my OneDrive account still held a reference to this computer
- from which I thought I had just erased myself.

Deleting the referenced data from OneDrive (I didn't want it anyway) didn't break the link; and deleting the Computer name from OneDrive's list of computers fix my problem (of the stale GS folder in C:\Users) either.

After some googling I did find a way to remove the stale folder, but it sure ain't an approved method... This is what I did

A:How to **TOTALLY** delete a User profile in Win 10

I haven't got a solution but I have had similar problems. I had to delete my wife's user account before on a couple times (native app issues!) and recreate her an account at a latter stage. I see the same issue in as much as her old folders got left behind with a few empty folders. The same Appdata with a Roaming subfolder (sorry I don't have the exact tree any more either), which ended up with a references to the Libraries collection. Plus there was a folder relating to realtimes too. It was very annoying as by having a libraries folder the WMP sharing service still projects that share as it has a libraries folder. I managed to delete some of the folders but some were denied relating to ownership and the real times folder has a few hundred kilobytes worth of files that can't delete as allegedly they are in use. I tried to take ownership following tutorial methods but vaguely remember hitting a roadblock and giving up. Thankfully the libraries folder (I think it allowed me to do traditional right click - delete) being erased then eliminated the duplicate/redundant WMP share but the old users folder is still there. I have just hidden the old user folder it as I guess it's doing little harm but it's a bit naff seeing folder wife and then folder wife000, wife001 (sorry can't remember the specifics but they are named something like that. If I need to handover or sell the machine I guess I'd try and restore it to factory settings.

Any idea on how to delete cache copy of roaming profile in a XP Pro enviroment machine? We use Windows 2003 Server. From the domain server, I have setup a group policy to delete all cache copy of roaming profiles from the all the client machines. The rest of the machine do delete the roaming cache copy of profile except this machine. So in this machine, I also manually set the group policy to delete the roaming cache copy of profile but it's not working. When I check the Resultant Set of Policy, it was fine. No error was generated.

Hi everyone

I have a bit of an annoying problem. Back when I was at uni and the first social networking sites were all the rage, I signed up for XuQa (about 3/4 years ago). I had completely forgotten about it until recently when a workmate of mine said they had found my page when googling my name. It turns out the profile can be viewed by anyone, and it's not something I want employers/anyone seeing!

However...apparantly none of my past email addresses are on their system and no email/password combo's work! The only way to contact them is by email 'ticket' system which don't get seen to, or they just say I'm not on their system. I really want it deleted but don't know what to do next!

Anyone able to help? (My profiles now are squeaky clean in case I have this problem in the future lol)

I had a problem with a corrupted WiFi profile on a customers Win8 laptop.
It just wouldn't connect even though the details appeared correct - seen this before
 - easy to fix you just delete the profile and recreate it.

But where the heck has the "Manage Wireless Networks" GUI gone in Win8 ?

Checked the internet for an answer - it no longer exists!http://blog.boyet.com/blog/blog/another-windows-8-annoyance-managing-wifi-profiles/

MS removed it as they say it was no longer required - all done automatically in Win8
But even they admit that you have to resort to the command prompt to delete a profile nowhttp://windows.microsoft.com/is-is/windows-8/manage-wireless-network-profiles

Many posts giving guidance on using command prompt to Win8 users - God help them!http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-manage-wireless-networks-in-windows-8-1/

And a lot of pissed off users on Social.TechNet forum - and turns out its even worse on Win8.1http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/ac80d8ec-21ad-4d44-9a0c-c8777f861db7/windows-8-manage-wireless-networks?forum=w8itpronetworking

So there we have it - Microsoft logic at it's best.
