Five of these systems are in our Lab and running. Then there was a power cut while working. However only this one could not Come up. When you turn-on the system, the power button is turn with solid, you can here the noise of the fan of the all-in-on, the hard disk light indicator also come on and then off, a light try to flash through the screen(the light before the ''HP'' Logo is loaded when the system enters BIOS,  BUT NOTHING IS DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN AT ALL(no Bios set-up screen, Nothing is displayed on the Monitor!)  I have tried to swap the power pack for from another sytem and it is thesame result. Other systems are running very well but for this system Though all the systems are connected to the internet, and set to automatically update critical operating system software, I did not perform any software update. I have searched through this forum to see if anyone had this problem BUT no one have had this experience with this latest HP ENVY product. (model: 23-k001hk All-in-One) Hello all--Asking advice/suggestions of wise and kind persons on the better path---and the how-to--for upgrading the speed of my current 1TB hdisk + 16GB SSD cache HP storage scheme by one of these routes:      1) Upgrade the installed 16GB mSATA SSD cache drive to an 64GB mSATA drive (Intel RST limit)           why: I regularly update a big whack (10-15GB) of data from the office,           so given that the daily volume of modified files is comparable to 16GB,           I'm assuming that a bigger cache would actually add value      2) install a "large" SSD drive to serve as the the primary boot drive by replacing          the existing 1TB hdisk (I'm using a tiny fraction of this) with an SSD 2.5" drive         with a suitable bracket (and removing or disabling the 16GB SSD cache drive) Thanks in advance for any advice on this, as HP does not seem to have any public information on this, nor any obvious means of accessing or examining the RST (firmware?) settings used in their SSDcache+hDisk arrangement (yes, tried Ctrl-I on boot, etc.--no joy). --Rob in Hong Kong

Hi WAWood, A late thanks for your advice. Based on this feedback, and on having just discovered that the "hidden" ExpressCache software on my system quietly stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10 (and HP support does not currently seem to have updated ExpressCache software for Windows 10), I decided to install a large SSD drive and use it as the boot drive. In case it might help other HP Envy Recline All-In-One owners, here is a summary of the steps that worked, with the obvious disclaimers that while this worked for me, it is not a "universal" solution, and also that if you mess with the hardware/software of your system, you are of course on your own, with no guarantees or responsibility from this author): (also apologies for format--in a hurry) System:     HP Envy Recline (model 23-k001h) running Windows 10Basic goal:     Modify original storage setup:        1TB hdisk(boot drive) + 16GB mSATA SSD cache("tied" to hdisk via ExpressCache)    to:        1TB hdisk(spare drive) + new Samsung Evo 850 500GB mSATA SSD drive (as boot drive)Result    Much, much "zippier" system: fast boot, app launching, etc. Steps                                   &nbs... Ever since I upgraded my HP Envy Recline 23-m230, when I plug in my subwoofer, the sound goes out completely and I have to restart to get it to work again (without the subwoofer.  When I hit Reset Default Settings in Beats I get the message IDTNGUI.exe has stopped working.  I paid to have HP help with the problem with no resolution.  It is very frustrating!  Anyone?  Thanks.

This unit has developed a fault (2 weeks after the warranty expired!).The screen is just blank, luckily I have remote desktop features & can connect in & run it from another PC.So from this I can state.The PC itself boots up & worksThe touchscreen is still working OK (I can see what is happening via remote).Just NO DISPLAY, no backlight LEDs coming on. Have reset the BIOS in case of an upgrade glitch.HELP -- at the moment just big black object that sits there & humms to itself!

I just ordered an Envy Recline 27 all-in-one, but I currently use a system that has 2 monitors. I contacted HP as to whether the Envy can support a 2nd monitor, and they told me the video card supports 2 monitors, and it has an HDMI slot. But when I look at pix of the computer, I see an HDMI "in" (for plugging in a gaming console) but I don't see an HDMI "out" or other video out port. Does anyone out there know for sure that this system can support a 2nd monitor? Thanks for your hlep.

I called and finally got through to a knowledgeable customer support person who confirmed that it does not have HDMI out, or any other outgoing video port, and cannot support a 2nd monitor. So I cancelled my order and will look at Lenovo and Dell (both of whom have HDMI out ports on theirs, but we'll have to see if either one will extend the desktop or just duplicate the first monitor).

I have bought the product on Aug 2014 with extended 2nd and 3rd year warranty. Recently, the keyboard that is bundled with the computer got faulty. Once the keyboard is connected, it automatically types random keys. I have tried troubleshooting a numerous times but nothing worked. I bought the 27 Envy in Australia and I thought I made a good choice with the touch screen and large screen and good foot print on the desk. That was over a year ago. I also bought through the retailer Harvey Norman 3 year extened warranty. Initially I had a problem with the no reason activation of the pulsating wheel bottom mid section of the screen. It is a nightmare. It starts to pulsate and disable the access to my keyboard. I had several guys from HP trying to help but thier now how is not very good once they log onto my computer -- trail and error and no sucess. I manged to use the computer by disabling the touch screen function. After today's long update of windows 10 professional the screen behaves a bit different but when I work between the applications they switch at random. 1. The pulsating wheel is not appearig any more  so that is good 2. Switching bewtween the documents and application is no good3. I hope HP has someone that knows how to fix that -- so far I did not come across on the helpdesk that anyone could help4. NOt sure if what I write will be read by someone from HP -- but I hope so. 5. I need this computer for my work therefore I cannot afford hours of trying to resolve it but It would be nice that this expensive computer would work like it was intended -- there are millions of tablets and I have several Apple devices -- no problem with them at all - I hope HP has someone there that can help.

I tried to connect my ps4 to the monitor but it did not work. The computer is fully updated and I made sure to plug in the device and turn it on before attempting to switch the display over. i have a HP ENVY 23-m210ea beats special edition all in one . It came with windows 8.1 and worked brilliantly. now all the sound drivers ive tried since installing windows 10 do not work properly for my pc . my subwoofer does not work . there used to be controls in beats console for a subwoofer but are not there anymore. i have had various other problems as ive tried other drivers , no volume controle , no sound at all , no beats console , bass speaker working through headphone socket e.c.t.. . ive tried everything ive read so far to no avail , somebody even said bios might be the problem but i dont tamper with those things , so if you can pls can you suggest something new ty . oh and i have tried the latest hp driver

In the last two weeks my HP Envy 27 Recline All in One Touchscreen computer has powered down and won't power back on properly.  Tried the power button, no response.  Disconnected all sources of power to the computer and still no response after reconnecting power source and pressing the power button.  Attempted the same process a second time and after a few minutes the computer finally powered up.  Please advise. Thank you.

Hi, This question is related to a HP ENVY Recline 23-k100xt TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC running Windows 8.1, 64 bit.  The PC has built in Beats speakers and an output jack for a sub woofer.  Without the subwoofer connected  all sounds produce including system sounds and sounds produced by software such as Quicken. When I connect the subwoofer certain sounds no longer produce, e.g., sounds produced by Quicken, and the Num Lock/Cap Lock system sounds.  Music and movies sound terrific with the subwoofer connected.  When I disconnect the subwoofer all sounds immediately return.  I am hoping there is a setting or some other simple solution to have all sounds produce with the subwoofer connected.  This issue has been occurring since day 1 with this PC and I am not receiving any error messages.  I am using an Energy ESW-M6 subwoofer connected with a 3.5mm stereo audio cable to the subwoofer output jack on the PC.  Thanks for your help!

I have the HDMI input on this computer and when I plug in an external source (PS4) it will display the video fine but absolutely NO AUDIO. I've done extensive searches online and can't find a single work around for this issue. HDMI video/audio is a basic function of these ports so it should work as advertised. Can anyone shed any light on how to get the audio to come through the HDMI input? Thx

How does one replace the 16GB SSD cache used to supplement a standard HDD used in AIO desktops.  Does it need to be exact part?  What size is it?  There are numerous form factors on Amazon, Ebay,  and part suppliers on the internet.  Does it have to be 16GB SSD?  Can it be a larger size SSD (e.g. 32/64/120/240/480 GB SSD card?  Does one even need to replace this failing SSD cache card if one is replacing the standard HDD with a say a 1TB SSD (i.e. 1 TB Samsung EVO 850).  A SSD of that size would suggest that the SSD cache is not longer needed?  If this is the case how does one disable  the SSD (Intel SRT/ Condusiv aka Diskkeeper) solution (i.e. cheap solution at the time to supplying real SSD hard drives since they were cost prohibitive).  Please instruct on how to disable by (removing drivers/ uninstalling software to make the HP envy recline AIO ignore this failing piece of hardware.    Also please instruct on how and where is this 16GB SSD cache located and how to get to it witout breaking the computer. Is it in the base?  What screws does one need to remove, and how to pr y open.  If not is it behind the screen?  How to remove the back cover, and any other components, metal plates, etcetera to get to and remove and replace it.  A video would be ideal or if you know if anyone who has already performed this a link to their material.  Also, just don't post it here  as the solution ... I have upgraded my HP ENVY 23 Recline Beats edition to Windows 10.  Most things works, but there is 2 critical items not functioning properly.  1. The Audio driver, especially the bass tone/subwoofer is just not there.  So there goes the primary reason that I brought the PC - for the great sound.  Already try the generic beats driver mentioned with some of the post on these boards, got beat software active but bass sounds in absence.2. The HDMI external input function is not working as well, which is the second reason why I brought this PC. I end up reverting back to windows 8.1 for the time being. Will HP release proper WIndows 10x64 driver for this machine?  It is such a great AIO, and it is just missing Video and Audio driver update.

Greetings,    I have owned this laptop for over 2 years and have encountered many problems which have required me to open up my laptop and remove debree/dust from the interior. My last adventure included removing the fan and heatsink from the inside, but when I assembled the laptop back together it will not start up. When plugged in the white led light still shows next the the charger socket, but the power button will not light up after several tries. The fan does not start to spin either.   I have tried the hold the power for 1 minute idea, but it does not change anything.I have 3 possible conclusion that are very unlikly to me.1.  I worked on carpet and had static  electrickery! Doubt it.2. The harddrive is not working properly3. The memory is not working properlyAny fixes to these above? any other possible causes?

hello.it's been 2 years since i use this pc and it works just well,but today,when i turned on the pc it can't boot. It just turned on,but the screen show nothing,and when i say nothing i mean really really just like it doesn't get turned on. i tried to push the DVD button and it is still working,the light on the power button also work,and everytime i tried to turned it on and off the sound of the pc turned on still can be heard. so its just like everything is ok but the computer isn't booting.ussually before this happened,it took only 3 seconds after i turned on the pc,to boot into the loading screen,but now it does nothing.one day before,i upgraded to windows 10. and it is still working,the next day it is also still working,then i shut it down. the next time i tried it(ijust about 15 minutes i turned it off ,it won't boot. ) i don't know if this is related,but in the internet people said that things like this happened because of the hardware and not the software.please help me,i really need this pc to get back to work thank you,and sorry for my bad english

Hi, I'm having troubles turning my laptop on. I have a Hp Envy 15 Touchsmart. I've tried doing a reboot by taking the battery out and holding power for a minute and trying to reboot it but nothing happened. It was plugged in and fully charged when it turned off. The charging light is still on when it is plugged into the wall.A few weeks ago it randomly restarted and shut off when I was watching a movie on it but it rebooted no problem.My phone fell out of my hand 3 nights ago and landed just left of the track pad when it shut off and won't turn back on.

HP Envy Touchsmart M6 Sleekbook turned off suddenly and won't boot now.   Power and WiFi light for a few seconds and then nothing, will not actually power on.  Following some related posts I openned it, unplugged battery, plugged in wall and tried to power on. The same lights come on, the power button and wi if for a couple of seconds and nothing. This time though the fan did come on, or at least it sounds like a fan, it's a whisper fan so it was always unnoticeable.Is is there something else I can try? Desperate....

I own an HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC product number: E0K05UA#ABA and Model: 15-j053cl
 
I had a couple plastic screw inserts that hold the right side hinge to the top cover of the laptop break due to very high strength of the hinges which caused the top cover of the laptop to pry apart from the base enclosure when opened (a problem many owners of this laptop model have had). Since I was out of warranty I ordered a replacement on Ebay using the correct part number 720570-001 and disassembled my laptop to make the repairs and loosen the hinges while I was at it. I swapped out all parts being careful to note where and how plugs and ribbons were connected so I could put it back together correctly. Now after having it reassembled it will not turn on.
 
I get a white LED light to turn on when I plug in the power cord AC adapter (should be amber/orange in color to signify it is charging the battery) but no other sounds lights or signs of life. I have attempted to remove the battery and power cord, pressed the power button for 8-30 seconds to drain power and do a reset and then try to power up with plugging in the power cord but it won’t turn on. I also tried to power up by removing one part at a time including the hard drive, two RAM sticks, and wireless card but still not able to turn on. The computer was stuck on the HP screen and I ran a test and the hard drive failed. I bought a new hard drive and was about to start recovery but decided to power off and reboot before starting the process. I now have a blank display. The lights are all okay, fan is running and    no beeps for errors.  Does anyone have any idea how to get the display to start working? I tried all types of keystrokes but nothing seems to work.  Going to give it one more try before I send this computer to the junk yard.  Thanks

Last year while my daughter was at school she started reporting to me that her HP Envy Touchsmart 15" laptop's case was pulling apart at the corners.  Then she started reporting hearing rattling noises inside the case, then the fan stopped working.   I called HP support, and was told by one person the laptop was under warranty, but that wouldn't be covered because of normal wear and tear.  I called back later and then was told the laptop was not under warranty.  I called back several times, and got a variety of answers all of which added up to between $300 and $500 for repairs on a laptop that I spent $700 on! When she came home for a break from school, I took apart the laptop and removed the debries from the fan (I had purchased a replacement fan which I didn't need) and the laptop stopped overheating.  Next I tackled the hinge problem which by this time had progressed to be both hinges.  The weak plastic connections on the bottom were in bad shape, cracked and peices missing.  So (being the brain surgeon I am ) I decided to use epoxy to more firmly affix the hinges to the case.  That fix has now failed. I have seen and posted on other threads that this type of failure is (despite what HP support says) fairly common in the whole line of HP consumer grade laptops!  Before this, I had mainly used HP business grade laptops and had thought that the quality there would also be in the consumer grade laptops.  My... Hello,  This is my first time on this site and I have been having some trouble with my computer.FIrst of all, my computer is the HP Envy 23 Touchsmart PC and its roughly around 3-4 years old. For all this time, it has been working fine without any problems, but one day I was playing a game on my computer and it randomly shut down. At first, I thought I accidentally kicked a cord, so I made sure every cord was in their sockets tightly. Thinking it was a loose cord that caused it to shut down, I tried to turn it on again. Unfortunately, there was no luck.   In furthur investigation on my computer, I noticed my power cord was making a small beeping/chirping noise every 2-3 seconds with its green light flashing on and off in sync with the green light. What I found interesting was when I unplugged the power cord from the computer, the green light would actually stay solid without it blinking or making any noise. When i replug it back in, it continues to blink and make the small beeping noise again. As a computer amateur, I am afraid to open my computer up and try to fix the problem myself. And I was also hoping for some solutions here on this site before bringing it into a store to get it fixed.  I also updated my computer to Windows 10 if any of that matters. Thank you for your time!

Hello,  I purchased an HP Envy Touchsmart 15 a little over a year ago. The hinge seems to have come unglued fromt the inside. I read that the HP Envy is prone to this, since the hinge is glued in production as opposed to being fastened with a screw. I'm a graduate student, and I'm unable to use my HP for schoolwork due to the faulty hinge. The computer has been handled carefully, and it's never been dropped. This is my first HP. It was great when it was working; however, a laptop that costs nearly a grand and works only for 1 year due to the construction is extremelhy dissapointing.  I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how it was handled by HP.  Does anyone know what this part is?  I'd really like to know its part number because I'm trying to order a replacement.  It has the power button on one side, and on the internal side it has screw-ins for the fan and one of the speakers.  It is a black plastic part that runs along the side that the fan blows out and flattens out on both sides.  It was glued to the metal case.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi! So, I am trying to replace my Envy 17's 1TB magnetic hard drive with a 500GB Samsung 850 Evo Sata form factor SSD. I followed the Maintenance and Replacement guide at http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04091762 , but when it came time to actually extract the hard drive from my computer, I could not figure out how to do it. I took a few pictures of what it looks like inside my computer, and they are in here: https://goo.gl/photos/RLmPNcYfzq5Lf5Ah6 . As you can see, there's a blue rubbery case around my hard drive, but pulling on it from either side doesn't seem to budge the hard drive, and I didn't want to apply maximum force in case the bay broke. The manual says to start with unplugging the cable from the hard drive, but I can't seem to unplug it do to the lack of space. I have tried every method from HP recovery method and all three give the same response. It goes through everything and reloads software but then gives that response. If i click try again it tells me to insert recovery media.

Try changing the date in BIOS to 1/01/2012. Save & Exit. Boot from Recovery and let it run through the process- but on the first reboot it initiates enter BIOS to ensure date is still modified. If so let Recovery resume-if not change it again then resume.

Hello,

I've had this problem off an on for probably about a year now. Randomly my clickpad (I think that's what it's called...the mouse on my laptop) stops working. Either the cursor will freeze and disappear when I touch the screen or it just doesn't appear when I open my laptop. I found a fix once that said to just go into the Device Manager and either update or rollback the driver and that worked the first time....but doesn't seem to be the answer as it continues to happen. Luckily I have the touchscreen or I'd be really annoyed but its tough to do work with just the touchscreen. Can anyone help me keep the cursor/clickpad working?

When I update/roll back the driver I go to:
Device Manager > System Devices > Synaptics SMBus > Properties > Driver

Let me know any other info you need!

Hello!I bought my computer about 11 months ago for college and the past month it has been having some weird cracking noises when opening/closing the lid. A friend of mine told me to watch out since he had the same computer and it had broken off. I noticed today that theroght hinge is actually starting to come out and the base of the computer is also getting loose. This is very strange since I barely move my computer from the desk since it is so big, plus I have a smaller one that I use to take to classes so I don't mess with this one for stuff that is unnecessary. Hello HP Buddies, I have an HP Envy Touchsmart laptop model M7-J178CA  / Product: E8A17UA#ABL and it works fine in stock form. I installed a brand new Samsung 840 EVO 1TB SSD using the correct adapter kit Part number: 720237-001 Part description: HDD Hardware Kit http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=542 and I have the following concerns: 1) Windows disk management does not recognize the SSD, nor does the latest version of Samsung Magician.  I think I need to enable ACHI mode (or the equivalent) but I am not sure how to do this as there does not seem to be anything in the BIOS to allow this. 2) I ordered a USB to SATA adapter (not here yet!) Can't I enable the SSD from the HDD Hardware Kit SATA cable / connector? Hello,I purchased an HP Envy Laptop my first year of College, and it has served me well to a point.But recently, I noticed that there was some separation happening in the body of the laptop, just next to the right hinge area. The "metal" and plastic pieces of the casing were pulling apart from each other. This began to cause problems with my disk drive as well, I believe. It became more concerning when it began happening on the right side as well, and likely caused problems with the fan.At this point, the left side of the casing, right by the vent snaps out and back into place whenever I open my laptop. As this is a problem that could be getting worse virtually every time I use the computer, it makes it stressful to enjoy my HP device. If this continues, more problems will undoubtedly arise.I need a solution to this, lest my HP experience be ruined.Thank you for your time. I do appreciate and respect it.

Hi there, The Wifi on this laptop keeps either dropping connection, or changing to a "limited" network. Sometimes it works fine, but more often than not it drops out. All other wifi enabled devices in my house work fine, so I know it's not the internet. I have a HP ENVY notebook of model TouchSmart 15-j127tx.Using the laptop causes eye fatigue after 15 minutes itself.The White color background is the main cause and I experience eye fatigue  even after trying many combinations of  brightness and contrast. I have adjusted the gamma settings to different levels and even used the Display Colour Calibration within Win 10 to improve the display,but the result is same. At first, I thought only I have this problem, but over the time, people whoever uses my notebook complain the same. I use a different  brand laptop for work, which does not have a touch display. I work on that laptop for more than 10 hours a day but don't feel eye fatigue. But when I use this HP laptop, always, I feel the strain on my eyes. Can anyone help on this. Thanks.

You will see a restore the default settings for this plan. Bought Envy in December 2014.  At about 19 months I noticed the hinge was not working right and I found a small screw which fell out.  The hinge has gotten worse over the last month or so even though I  have been careful with it. I am the only user.  I saw many other posts about hinge problems on the envy.  Is Hp doing anything about this problem?  I believe its only a one year warrenty.  Am I SOL because of this?

I purchased an HP Envy Touchsmart 23". It was used little over the three years. Last week, when starting up it started to display the message reading "Critical error/your start menu isn't working. We'll try to fix it next time you sign in". After several attempts of power off and restart, hoping the fix would happen, my HP simply stopped responding to the power on switch. The power on switch would light up indicating that the power was on, but the screen would not light up or indicate activity. Best Buy, where I purchased the computer, could not assess the problem locally - they could only arrange to send it to somewhere in BC, for an assessment that would take 2 to 6 weeks. Can anyone help?

My Envy 23 TouchSmart All-in-One PC asked to update the firmware the other day, so I said yes.  It seemed like the update never fully downloaded or completed.  Now, when I try to turn on the computer, it comes up with the following error " Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."  It then goes into a HP logo screen and says " Preparing Automatic Repair", then "Diagnosing your PC", then Blue screen with "Automatic Repair" header "Your PC did not start correctly.  Press "restart" to restart your PC, which can sometimes fix the problem.  You can also press "Advanced options" to try other options to repair your PC." I had a restore USB drive made when I bought the computer 3 years ago, but it doesn't seem to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, My HP ENVY 23 TouchSMART AiO Pc is no longer working.  When I power on nothing appears on the screen at all - it remains black at all times.  I can hear the fan or something inside making noises so it's getting some sort of power.   I have to hold down the power button to switch it off. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can bring it back to life please?  All my data is backed up so I'm happy with any extreme options. Cheers,Andy

Please help! The touch screen on my Envy laptop no longer works. I've tried restarting and shutting off, but to no avail. When I go to PC Info, it tells me that: "No pen or touch input is available for this display." This is obviously incorrect, because my laptop is, in fact, a touch screen. Learn How to Post and More. I understand that your touchscreen is not functioning.  When you looked in PC info, you see "No pen or touch input is available for this display" I suggest you uninstall and delete the display driver. I'm not too sure what is the problem with my girlfriend's computer, it was working perfectly fine for the past 3 years we've had it but all of a sudden when she came home and tryed to wake it up from sleep mode, it was just a black screen...we then proceeded to reset the computer and unplugged the power cable from the back and let it sit for a little over an hour. I came back thinking maybe the computer just overheated or something and it needed to cool down but instead every single time I turn it on...the light on the top goes on, i hear the fans start up like it normally would if there were no problems but the screen is just black and doesnt change...i even let it sit like that for a good hour or so and nothing seemed to happen. I read on other HP forums to try to press F10 as the computer starts up to open BIOS but my keyboard won't even light up or work. Does anyone have a fix for this? Is it internal or what? I thought maybe it would be something wrong with the MOBO but i would think if it was, it wouldnt even turn on at all...I appreciate any responses, Thanks. (Also we did update to windows 10 but that was about 1-2 months ago and there was no problems at all after installing it)

I do a lot of highlight copy-paste operations.  Is there a good summary of how to do these with this notebook?  They designed the touchpad without the right/left mouse buttons and do not seem to have something that functions like left click to hold so you can move and highlight. If I do not happen to have my wireless mouse, doing the basic operations get interesting. Word and Excel:  No swipes to highlight blocks.  You seem to have to use the shift and arrow keys to highlight and then keyboard ctrl-c,x,v Web documents.  touch the screen to highlight a word,then find the little anchor and move it to highlight the block you want.  Then either keyboard shortcuts or if you tap the touchpad with two fingers you may get the left-click menu or you may remove your highlighted blocks. Are there simpler, less complex ways to handle something that you can do easily with a mouse?  Or do I need to make sure the mouse is tethered to the notebook?

Recently, my TouchSmart Envy 20-d010t quit working.   I checked to see if it was the hard drive by putting a new hard drive in and it still does not work.   Symptons are when it starts up, nothing comes up on the screen.   THe green light is on at the power adapter.   A light is also on at where the power cord plugs into the PC.   When it tries to start, you can hear the fan running and the hard drive start spinning up.   Other suggestions on what the problem could be. Regards, Shawn

Any advice much appreciated.   I have an HP Envy Touchsmart 15 that basically won't boot after windows updates.  This is now the 4th time it has happened, twice fixed by Currys (where I purchased the laptop) and once out of warranty by someone else.  It has now happened again and I don't see why I should keep paying to fix an issue that is an original fault with the laptop.  None of the online fixes to restore to Bios work hence why I have to take it to get it repaired.  I'm assuming this is a software issue rather than hardware and so isn't covered by the Consumer Rights Act.  I can't find a complaints contact for HP anywhere on their website and am currently left  as an upset owner of a very expensive brick!! Amy

Hello,  I have noticed that my right screw connecting the hinge of my screen and base of the laptop has come loose after a while now. I tried to tighten it but it won't. I read a few articles with people of the same laptop series and it made me think that whether this is a manufacturer's defect or not.  There is also a piece which, by my guess, has broken off and is now loose inside the body of the keyboard as I can hear it when I move my laptop around.  Is there a way to get this repaired at a repair centre? Or a better and more precise diagnostic, as I am just basing this on what I have read and my guess as an engineer. Thank you!

Recently my HP Touchsmart display stopped working. The fans turn on, the hard drive, and DVD drives spin but nothing is displayed on the screen... It is completely black or blank. I replaced the video card and that did not help the situation. I have also tried literally dozens of times resetting the bios via the jumpers because I read someother threads on this forum suggesting that might help and I've had no luck. Any other advise or suggestions to try? If I am unable to fix it myself, can anyone suggest a repair shop to help get it up and running? Thanks in advance for your help!

my Envy 23 Touchsmart has a blank/black display on startup. 2 days ago, the screeen was all jittery, the image was bouncing up and down and full of horizontal lines, now it doesn't display anything. The desktop powers up, I can hear the fans and the power button is lit up. I have tried the F10 trick (multiple versions of it) and have not had any success with it yet. This desktop is 3 years old and is pretty much worthless in its current state, I have a ton of info I need to get off of it, so I would love a way to fix it. I have looked thu the forums already, and none of the tricks have worked so far.   If there is another option out there,  I would appreciate it. Thanks to all who look at this, and bigger thanks if you have any suggestions! Dave

After the update to Windows 8.1 a while back, the touchscreen function on my laptop went away. Every time i go to see my PC info it says "No pen or touch innput is available for this display". I have tried almost everything I can think of. I have used recovery mode and have even refreshed it. Just last night my touchscreen randomly started working at around 11:00 p.m. and this morning the touchscreen functionality went away once again. I went to my Device Manager and saw that in the Human Interface Devices section there was no touchscreen driver. Apparently tons of users are having issues with the Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver for all sorts of devices. I'm wondering why there's always an updated driver for Nvidia when my product doesn't even have it? The 4600 driver from both here and Intel both crash, and sometimes I get multiple crashes in sequence. Is there something I'm missing?

Recently the touch screen on my HP ENVY/Touchsmart hasn't been working. When I bought the computer Windows 8 was installed; I converted to Windows 10 and for about a year the touchscreen was working fine. I also noticed that when I go to HUMAN  INTERFACE Devices in device manager, no touchscreen program appears. Hello there. So I have an HP Envy TouchSmart m6-ko22dx Sleekbook and it refuses to turn on. The white LED on the side is on which usually signifies it is charged, however, whenever I hit the power button, it starts for maybe a half of a second and then turns off again. Also refuses to charge. Is there anyway to fix this? Please help ASAP, thank you.

Ok let me cut to the chase: I;ve tried all "normal" test and options to verify what the problem isn't: it's not the battery and not the AC charger .  What I really want to know is whether anyone has solved this problem by replacing the motherboard or changing BIOS. HP has been of no help on this matter, and they actually want me to just buy a new laptop or pay them $350 to let them "fix it".  Two things I find strange are: why have there been no BIOS updates in the 3 years since this laptop was built, and I'm also seeing that there is no download whatsoever for even a reinstall of BIOS; and also, why -- despite the fact that MANY people seem to have had battery/power/charging issues on HP laptops in the past few years (if not longer) -- am I seeing no actual root causes online? I don't want to just throw money at the problem (forgive me, but I'm an engineer), I want to know what's going on and whether I can expect the problem to happen again. I've been through 3 batteries, and 2 chargers and the story is the same: the HP Diagnostics (UEFI?) tell me the battery needs to be replaced.  The battery never gets charged above the charge level it was at when I receive the new battery (70-75% charge for all 3 batteries), and draining the battery to a low level (about 5%) and it doesn't go up.  The laptop is not charging the battery.
