Q: Yoga 14 and Yoga 460 Sound Enhancement Thread

Hi allTo get the best internal speaker sound out of your ThinkPad Yoga 14 or Yoga 460, you could refer to the P40 Sound Enhancement Thread, as they share the same set of sound card and speakers.

Hi all

As one of my friends have just purchased a P40 Yoga, I am able to use her set to provide sound enhancement tweaks for P40. The tweaks is also optimal for Yoga 460 and Yoga 14 as it shares the same sound card and speakers as P40 Yoga. The tweaks would not be optimal for other laptops, external audio device due to variation of frequency response.
To tweak the sound:1. Go to Start > All Apps (All Programs) > Dolby > Dolby Audio

2. Click Personalize

3. There are only one type of preset provided for the internal speaker loudness as the P40 Yoga / Yoga 460 / Yoga 14 as the sound card does not have enough power to drive more bass and quality will decrease if all the EQ band is set to max.Optimal:?
You could (Preference)- Enable Dialogue Enhancer if you want more boost on the treble, but may sound sharp on some songs.- Enable Volume Leveler if you prefer more neutral sound signature, stronger mid, but overall volume drops a bit.I hope this benefits any P40 Yoga, Yoga 14 or Yoga 460 user who wish to have optimal sound experience from their internal speakers! Enjoy!

Just upgraded the Window on a Yoga 3 pro and everything seems to be working fine.
The entire process starting from downloading windows to the final install took about 3.5 hours. The Windows download is about 6GB for the 64bit version.

I had to apply all previous Win 8.1 updates and then start the download using the 64 bit tool in this link -
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

1) Did not need to update any drivers. Wifi and sound are working fine.
2) I have disabled harmony so cannot really comment on Transition but observed that the transition is being recognized only between laptop and Tablet mode. (Images included)
3) In Tablet mode, the trackpad did not get disabled. (Dont remember how it was in Win 8.1 but I think it used to be disabled)

I will update more observations tomorrow however below are a few screenshots of the final stage of installation and Windows 10 -

A:Yoga 3 pro Win 10 Upgrade Observation Thread

Thanks!!! I would guess the transition issues are a Lenovo driver thing? Possibly upgrading /installing the dependencies package will resolve it? I do use tent mode occasionally and more importantly, if the touchpad is not disabled in all but laptop mode? I'll hold off on the upgrade till that's resolved. I use 10 on another non touch machine and most of the issues I have with 8.1 are corrected with classic shell, so I don't view 10 as a necessity right now. What I hope will happen with 10 becoming the dominant OS is a drastic improvement in apps. The lack of and general poor quality of apps makes win a no go as a tablet OS for me.

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... Good day.

The major differences I see, looking at: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Yoga_900_13_inch are: the SK2 has Intel Iris HD 540 graphics, slightly different CPUs and PCIe SSDs.

Regarding driver updates, there's a feature in Lenovo Companion that assists with that.

Hope this helps clarify.

Hello, we got 2x Try-and-Buy Lenovo Yoga Tablet Laptops (an X1 Yoga and a Yoga 260) to evaluate their suitability for our company, since we intend to upgrade several of our employees laptops. However, ever since we got the devices we noticed on both of them frequent issues with the display and waking from sleep. Very often the laptops won't wake up properly with the screen staying black. In those cases the display-backlight seems to turn on, and I assume the system is running somehow in the background. Putting the computer to sleep again (e.g. by closing the lid) makes the computer wake up properly on the second attempt. Different error in the same category is when a video is running and the laptop is connected to AC - plugging out the AC cord made the screen go black while the media content's sound kept playing. All drivers were updated to the newest version via Lenovo System Update 5.07.0029. Any ideas? I also tried to open a support ticket, but Lenovo wanted to send and install a new display (!). Apparently, that seems like a driver/software issue?! Best regards

Bought Yoga 2 pro a week ago from Lenovo Web-site.Perfect device I thought. But now I have strange sound issue. I have no sound through integrated speakers. It perfectly works with connected headphones but when i plugged them out from jack looks like it still think they are connected. So if I have no headphones plugged I see message "You just plugged a device into the audio jack". But there are nothing plugged there. And sometimes (once in an hour or something like that) it shows message "You just unplugged a device..." and in a moment immediately again  "You just plugged a device into the audio jack". Tried to reinstall realtek drivers using one provided with laptom and also with the latest from Lenovo web-site.Tried to recovery system to its original state - the same problem.I have only one sound device showed on "Control panel -> Sound" window even switching to "Show disabled devices" and only one speaker in Realtek HD Manager also. Is anyone faced the same problem? Any idea how this can be fixed? Thanks

When I connect a TV through HDMI the sound is not re-routed to the TV. The TV sound is also not appearing in the Playback Devices of the Sound  control panel in the bottom right corner. In order to make it worked I need to do the following :- Connect the HDMI cable and ensure the TV screen is displaying the laptop screen.- Put the Laptop on Sleep- Resume the laptop. in  90% of the case then the sound is re-routed to the tv but it is a bit of pain to do it every time. If it does not work I put the laptop to sleep again. Any idea how to make it worked all the time. It worked like a charm on my X1 1st generation. Thanks,Laurent

Since I've installed Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (20C0-S0AX00), I've never been able to get audio via HDMI working. In theory, it looks like it's all fine: ? In practice, however, no audio is transmitted via HDMI (I tried it with different monitors), and the video signal of any application trying to play audio over HDMI is stuttering ? as if it's trying to sync audio and video, but failing for some reason. As soon as the output device is changed, the video plays smoothly again. Changing the "Default Format" did not change anything. Currently, "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" is selected. A support ticket I opened quickly after upgrading to Windows 10 promised a driver update to fix this. A more recent ticket advised me to revert to the stock Windows 8.1 installation instead, which I refuse to do. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

A:ThinkPad Yoga S1 - No sound via HDMI on Windows 10

Hi

I have a different Thinkpad Yoga. Checking your issue I wonder if you would like to do some "trial and error" like:

1) Try a different HDMI cable, you never know.
2) Check the driver version of you Intel Display Audio. Here it is mine:
?
3) Just in case check the Lenovo Support site for your model and try updating the Intel Video and Realtek drivers just in case.

This is only that cames to my mind right now.

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hi allRecently, I got a T560 and I would like to share how well could the speaker performs. After testing and tweaking, I would say that the loudness is similar to Yoga 900, except Yoga 900 have louder mid (vocal) and T560 / P50s have louder high (clarity, background sound)

The tweaks is also optimal for P50s as it shares the same sound card and speakers as P40 Yoga. The tweaks would not be optimal for other laptops, external audio device due to variation of frequency response.

To tweak the sound:1. Go to Start > All Apps (All Programs) > Dolby > Dolby Audio

2. Click Personalize

3. There are two types of preset provided for the internal speaker, Loudness and Balanced. You may try out both to see what you prefer, and adjust the EQ accordingly to the photos below. Maximum preset is not recommended on the T560 / P50s as it's sound card would not supply enough power to drive the speakers and sound quality will decrease.

Loudness: Less bass, maximize midrange and treble sound loudness
?

Balanced: Flat response with increased overall sound loudness

Hi,  I was hoping I could find some help/advice on which laptop to get for my studies. I am doing a masters in business so don't need the laptop for photo/ video editing etc. Mainly for excel, reading and taking lecture notes, research and writing essays.  I have narrowed it down to Yoga 260 & Yoga 900. I like that they are both hybrids and easy to transport. I was hoping someone could explain the main differences between these two and which one you would suggest for what I will be using it for. I was looking at the:- Yoga 260 12.5" i7-6500U, 2.5 / 3.1 GHz- Yoga 900 13 2.6GHz i7-6600U 13.3" 3200 x 1800pixels TouchscreenThank you

I've had it for a bit under a month, and apart from an occasionally sketchy touchscreen for the first week or so, it's been perfect.  I have a crazy job where I'm in a different location at least every week, sometimes every day, and my duties vary from teaching to materials creation to curriculum development to programming to IT. Unfortunately, I got home last night, and it wouldn't turn on.  Fine; I figured that maybe the battery was dead.  Plugged it in, and still no joy, but hey, I figured maybe it wouldn't start until it hit a certain minimum charge level (a la many smartphones).  So I left it charging overnight, packed it when I went to work this morning, got here, and... it still won't start. Indicators/symptoms: The only I/O that appears to be working is the charge indicator (the small circular light next to the power button) and the power button light. If I plug in the power, the small circular light stays on (white) until I unplug it. Plugging in the power also sometimes causes the power light to turn on (again, white), and it will stay on (regardless of whether it's plugged in) until I force power-off via holding the power button. Nothing else works/responds.  The fans do not turn on, the caps lock light does not light up, the keyboard backlight can not be turned on.  Nothing.  As far as I can tell, the computer isn't even on -- only the power light.  I have tried every hotkey (and other key) on t... They are out of warranty and don't have any kind of accidental damage insurance - I've suggested they do look at this as they seem rather clumsy recently :-) But a simple question - does Lenovo offer an out of warranty repair service in the UK? Secondary question - any recommendations for 3rd party repair services? Hi,I know this topic appeared a few times before on this forum but I am really confused especially after a Lenovo employee told me via pohne I could basically use any stylus on the Lenovo Yoga 510. I would be very grateful if someone could help me.I read this article:http://www.howtogeek.com/177376/not-all-tablet-styluses-are-equal-capacitive-wacom-and-bluetooth-exp...As i figured Lenovo Yoga 510 has a different touchscreen (no wacom technology, no digitizer?) than f.e. Yoga 460, which is much more expensive. Is that correct? Is that why I can not use f.e. the ThinkPad Stylus? Or was the employee right and it doesen't matter?if not, is there any kind of alternative for the Yoga 510 apart from the cheap pens with the thick tip? I want something that is somewhat precise. I saw pens with a battery that appear to be capacitive by generating a small electromagnetic field like your finger but have a thin tip. Are these the only alternative for Yoga 510? Does the pen for Lenovo Think Pad definitely not work? What about the pens that comunicate via bluetooth mentioned in the article? Could they be an alternative for the Yoga 510?If there is no real solution for Yoga 510 and there was a Lenovo Laptop with a similar price than Yoga 510, with similar performance and with digitizer I would consider changing mine but from what I saw the notebooks with digitizer are either much more expensive (like Yoga 460) or have a lower performance (like yoga book) is that correct?Thank you very much.

Hope someone can help.  I have had this notebook for several months.  I called Support and was advised to send it in, but read horror stories about how long that took.  I have taken it back to factory and reinstalled everything, updated drivers, run the diagnostic package (everything is hunky doorey) and added a wireless mouse to try to resolve.  This is the problems I am having.1.  My touchpad is irratic.  I can not resize or drag when i am using it.  My solution was to add a wireless mouse.  That really isn't what I wanted.2.  My cursor freezes in the top right corner of the screen.  The cursor appears in a greyed box and unless I put my finger on it and drag it down to click something it won't move.  Unfortunately this doesn't fix the issue and i have to continue this until it finally corrects itself.  3.  When streaming movies, linking to websites, etc my connection speed is so slow that movies just drag or does the circle spin while loading and websites are very slow opening.  My WiFi gets about 10M download so it isn't the WiFi and other devices do not exerience this problem. 4.  Periodically when i open my notebook there is a black line down the center of the screen.  5.  I keep getting the message that something is wrong with my microphone and test it.  When I do it says it is fine.   Anyone have any suggestions?  Hope so.... Thanks, Sherry

Hi, I have 3 problems with my Yoga 460: 1. (this should be easy):Where do I get a backup image for my system from? I did not find any links on the support page. 2. I tried to download the bios update to version 1.18 from the website. If I click on the windows installer file, there is always the message "file not found". If I try to download the iso file (which is indeed working), I receive an error message about wrong format when trying to mount it to a usb drive. 3. This is the most important issue for me at the moment:As soon as I try to update my system with Lenovo Companion software, I always get the message that I would have to upgrade my Lenovo System Interface Driver. If I hit ok to install this app, I get a download link. I tried installing it several times. After having restarted the system, the same error appears again (with the same download link).  I would really appreciate if anyone of you could help me on these topics! Greetings from Germany, Simon

Check if after installing it, it will work with Lenovo Companion.

Hello all! I purchased a yoga 2 13 pro and the mobo went bad. After being told by support that the mobo is no longer available, I replaced it with the exact motherboard I found on ebay. Upgraded it to Windows 10 and upgraded the bios. The bios stated "Get EC part information fail". Did a product detection. It stated it was a yoga 2 pro.  What caused me to investigate is that the sensors  for rotation are not rotating the screen properly.  Is there anyway to fix this?

Planning to go to Europe next month and take my new Yoga 2 11 with me. Do I need to use a "Converter" to connect to the electrical system over there. I have read somewhere that if I use the power connector that came with the PC, it will automatically convert the electric from 220 to 110. Just wanted to get some independent verification before I do that.

A:Traveling with a Yoga 2 11

Hello and welcome,

With modern electronics you generally don't need a converter.  Your AC power brick/wall-wart probably says something like 100-240VAC/50-60Hz so it's "universal".  Please verify.

You will likely need a (mechanical) plug adapter to allow you to plug into available wall power.  This will vary depending on which contries you visit.  There are some more-or-less universal adapters available.

I'm really interested in buying this machine, the 14" model in particular, but have two questions I desperately need help with and I can't find the information online! 1. This is a specific question, but could anyone please tell me the size of the SD Card slot?I'm hoping to actually get some sort of measurement in centimetres or something here. I know that sounds a bit odd, but perhaps it's possible if you stick a normal SD card in and measure how much went into the machine and how much stayed out? The reason I ask is because I know normal SD Cards will protrude quite a bit on this machine, however I've found these special, smaller adapters and I'm wondering if they would fit flush into the machine so the issue is negated. (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MacBook-MicroSD-Memory-Adapter-Apple/dp/B01I92PFG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1...) It's an odd request, but it is important and I'd really, really appreciate it. 2. Can the default role of the F1-F12 keys be changed? As far as I can tell,  they are used for shortcuts and if you want to actually use the F keys themselves, such as say Alt+F4 or F11, you also have to hold in Fn. This would drive me nuts! Can it be reversed so they function like normal F1-F12 keys? Perhaps in the BIOS? Thanks for reading and I really hope you can assist me!

I'd like to check out SB or SP4, but yeah, money's a factor. If selling the YP2, I doubt I'd get half of what I paid for it.

A:Should I replace Yoga 2 Pro?

I would hang onto it, its still a perfectly fine computer. (I have a ThinkPad Yoga, which is similar under the hood, although it may be a generation off)
At most I'd demo the SB or SP4 in person somewhere, but I wouldn't try to actually get it and all.

hello lenovo crowd. there seems to be absolutly no way of knowing wich yoga model has the digitizer panel combinded with an electro magnetic resonance pen/stylus/digitizer. Which in the age of online buying is insane(it goes for other specs aswell). There are many many product reference numbers out there and many of them not mentioned in Product Specifications Reference(PSREF) (us and we) . "20CDS05S00" for examle, ofcourse, the model im looking to buy online.  (probably a model aimed to sell at the "new" walmart in mozambique). I, and sure manny others, would greatly appreciate if Lenovo people got it together and made it clear what is what to clients that don't have the luxory of time for going to a 6 story shop and trying all of the 362 models. In great appreciation of an answer or any type of clarification, professional artist, long time thinkpad user(90's ibm), long time tablet user(x200 as first from the thinkpad line), Casper ps.: maybe the answer is obvious and this is a completely illegit rant, but im sorry, i just can't seem to find it.

Can't figure this out for the life of me... One of the cooling fans in my yoga 2 pro was running extremely loudly. Thinking this would be an easy diy fix, i ordered a new fan, opened it up, and replaced it. But now, neither of the two fans are spinning when I start the computer. The machine boots up fine, but without a cooling system I am afraid to use it for an extended period of time. I can't get any software to recognize the fans.... most confusing, if I put the old fan back in, it does not solve the issue. not really sure how I could have messed things up, any ideas?

After having some issues with WiFi, slow response time, and long boot times, I decided to install Windows 10 fresh.  After doing so successfully, I noticed that the keyboard isn't disabled when I flip the screen around into tablet mode.  I know it's probably one of the pieces of software that Lenovo offers, but I only want to install that one, since I really don't need the rest of the software suite.  Does anyone know which driver/software set do I need to disable the keyboard? Thanks!Gage
