Samsung Galaxy S6 No longer recognized by Windows 10

Q: Samsung Galaxy S6 No longer recognized by Windows 10

A month ago, I was able to connect phone via USB to both HP notebook (Envy) and HP Desktop (Pavilion 500-070) and transfer photo and video files from phone to computers and vice versa.

Don't remember if it started after an update, but now neither computer recognizes when phone is attached via USB. Tried all USB ports; all ports work fine for other devices.

On phone with Samsung Tech for 70 minutes. Said problem was with computers. Performed Troubleshooting solution (solution was not described by Windows Troubleshooting function rebooted; phone still not recognized.

Hi all, hoping some windows people can help as the Android people cannot so far, this is a PC problem. thanks for looking

Essentially my phone cannot connect with my computer, it's not the phone, as it will connect quickly and easily to a laptop running XP Pro and a desktop running Windows 7 32 bit.

I have a Intel 2500K on a ASUS P8P67 B3. When I turn the phone to USB Mass Storage mode (making the unit into 2 flash drives one internal and one called external which is my 32gb microSD card) and plug it into my computer I see 2 removable drives, say G and H - neither can be accessed and I get "please insert disk" when I try.

When I plug it into the other computers I get 2 removable disk "Autoplay" pop ups and there's an option to view folders, I never get that with my machine.

So, should I be resetting USB ports, or looking into windows autoplay settings? I'm not a pro

Hey guys ,

Loving this forum so far some great threads,

Ok after recently installing 8.1 and installing Kies 3 for my S3 Ive been checking my event viewer and seeing the below error consistantly , googled it but no real joy , any ideas ?

The device GT-I9300 (location (unknown)) is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device 5 more times in its own process. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem.

Ive checked the drivers unistalled and reinstalled removed kies 3 and reinstalled but still showing.

Hi all,

after trying for several months to speed up my PC with help on this forum I eventually had to resort to a complete re-install of Windows XP. I have since re-installed HP Image Zone and though I have no problems in transferring photos from my camera's SD card by plugging it into my HP 2575 printer I cannot transfer pictures from my Galaxy SII any more. I have tried to connect the phone to the printer by USB cable but the device is not recognised and I have also tried connecting the phone directly to the PC via a USB cable but the option to transfer images using Image Zone is not on the pop up list. I have even tried to find the pictures using Windows Explore but the phone is not found there either.

Has anyone please got any ideas as to what I can do to transfer my pictures?

Thanks in advance,

Andy.

Hi all! first sorry if I'm posting it in the wrong section..

Ok well my sister bought a brand new Galaxy S5 and she gave me her old S3 and I am pretty much excited about it as I finally jumped for my old iPhone 3GS to S3

Ok so here's the thing! right now the S3 is on the 4.1.2 (Jellybean) and I search a little over the net and found out that Samsung announced that the S3 will not support the latest FW 4.4 (KitKat). When I go to check for updates my phone starts to download the update which is about 500MB in size and I believe it's the FW 4.3 update and I heard from some people and even googled it that the 4.3 update has a lot of bugs especially the consumption of battery which increases crazily.

Now I need advise that should I update my phone or use it on the FW I have right now? or Update and factory reset it which will erase all the content from the phone and make it as fresh as a new set which I believe might cure those problems? HELP!

I panicked a decent amount at first, as it is meant to instill fear into it's unlucky victims, but soon realized it was a virus.
I haven't heard of this exact phone virus before, so I became quite worried.
I haven't been able to find any help that I can afford; I feared anything that costs money.

There are exactly 5 pages that I can navigate between using the touch screen.
1st: (House Icon) Tells me what I did wrong and talks about "Law stuff". Asks for $500.00 Within three calendar days. Tells me to go to the 3rd tab.
2nd: (Government Pillared Building Icon) 17 U.S. code: 117 Very long page with many words. I din't bother to read a lot of them.
3rd (Multiple Dollars Stacked on top of each other Icon) The Credit card page! The one that has lots of enticing images regarding different money services, such as: Walmart * Money Card, and OneVanilla..... Actually It says that those are the only cards I can buy... Wow.
4th: (Clipboard Icon) Crazy page! Includes Pornographic images (Which are very common ones that you can find at almost any Pornographic website), My contact Info, an very little else.
5th: (Circle With An I Inside Icon) Talks about there "Mission" and also includes the Prism symbol. (And explains it)

Hi

Recently I purchased a samsung galaxy sII, and I am attempting to connect it to my computer using Samsung Kies, and it is continuously failing to install the MTP driver, and I think this has something to do with the fact that windows update won't offer me any updates whatsoever, or even search for updates. And I think this is the process used for adding drivers?

I haven't posted on a forum for a long time, so if I left anything out feel free to abuse, i mean ask nicely for the information to help me.

Any suggestions are appreciated, thankyou

Hi, my old Sony Xperia Neo V was set to connect to my Windows 8.1 laptop as USB Mass Storage device. It had a microSD card. So when I plugged it in through the USB, Windows 8.1 displayed just a microSD device called "MICROSD" in THIS PC. When I transferred music or whatever, the pop-up window looked like this:

That's all right. Works like if I plugged a Hard Disk drive or flash memory.

But now, when I connect my new Samsung Galaxy Core II with android 4.4.2, there's no Mass Storage option. The most similar option is MTP (Media Trasfer Protocol). Now, in THIS PC there's a drive called "Phone". Inside Phone, there are 2 other drives called Phone and Card. So the first weird thing is that the laptop does not recognize the microSD as a drive itself (I think this is an Android 4.4.2 issue that does not support USB Mass Storage). When I transfer something to the microSD card, this window appears:
Why does this windows look different?
Why there's no speed transfer graphic?

THANKS!

My phone won't connect to my Belkin router (F5D7230-4) thru the wifi connection. It previously had connected fine, but I'd reset the router today & changed the password. I'm able to connect with no problems (thru wifi or regular connection) on my pc. I went to my Belkin router page and have looked at my MAC settings (only option it gives is to clone, which I tried), I've also tried changing the password....my phone also gave me the option of hitting the WPS button on my router within 2 minutes, which I did, but it would not configure automatically as it was supposed to.

When I try to get on, on my phone, it'll say connecting, then authenticating, then eventually disable.

I would appreciate any suggestions. I did a search in the forum and saw a couple similar questions but none of those answers/steps seemed to allow me to connect. Thanks.

I don't care for the nature of the Kies software, although it did seem to work for my Galaxy S4 to make it visible to my desktop PC.

But I didn't bother installing it on my laptop. Instead I used PdaNet+ for Android. Works perfectly, and allows the phone to be handled very simply by Windows Explorer (rather than something like intrusive Kies software).

Also, PdaNet+ and FoxFi allows my S4 and laptop to run in "USB tethered mode" without having to pay Sprint monthly for WiFi capability.

When I connected my samsung galaxy ace 2 phone (model GTI 8160) to my emachines laptop on windows 7 home premium via usb cable, it comes up with the error message samsung mtp error code 10 device will not start.

I have tried installing upto date samsung drivers from this website here Kies | Samsung UK

I have tried both the kies and kies 3 downloads but this error code 10 message still appears after I have downloaded the drivers and connected and reconnected the device!

I have also tried using device manager to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, but the error code 10 still appears.

am i using the right samsung drivers download page for this model?

I am not sure I am.

obviously my mobile does not work, it was charged overnight (due to a very low battery usage) but then switched itself of.

I want to save everything to my computer hard drive because I was told that my mobile would need two weeks to get repaired.

I have a feeling that there is a problem with my mobile that means it has to be repaired.

Is there anything I could try to resolve this issue?

Well here is the break down of what happened, I recently got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have 3 internal HDDs, a 250Gb, a 1TB and a 2TB.

Originally I had Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit installed on the 1TB others were just used as storage, before upgrading to Windows 7 I backed up everything I needed, then wiped the HDD.

I installed Windows 7 fine onto the 1TB HDD, everything was going smoothly until this morning when I booted up my machine and I got Bootmgr.exe missing, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I remembered had this exact same error before in Vista, so I put in my installation disc for 7 put boot from CD in BIOS and waited.

When I clicked repair, my HDD with windows installed was not found, and I had no backup images as I have only had it installed maybe 3 weeks.
I thought I try the other options anyway, tried Repair Start Up option... nothing told me couldn't repair the problem automatically. I tried the BCD path via the command prompt this did nothing.

I went for a search on google (on another PC) for answers I found a Windows 7 x64 Recovery Disc I tried that... nothing.

I luckily had nothing on the 250GB internal so installed Windows on that, thinking that I could maybe reformat the 1TB HDD. However, Disk Management doesn't find it and neither does BIOS.

I have updated my BIOS version to the latest version available.

I have even tried alternative SATA ports... And this is where another problem comes about depending on where I put the cable for t... Read more

So my laptop is about a year old and aside from having to switch out a bad graphics card about a month ago, it's never had any real problems. This morning, though, I noticed my laptop didn't seem to be booting correctly. It would display the HP logo as always, then show a blinking cursor which just sat there. Normally, my laptop boots in a little under a minute, and that cursor is only onscreen for about 3 seconds. Now, the cursor remains for 2 minutes or so, after which the computer continues booting. Overall boot time is now 3 minutes or more. This last time I restarted it, the screen was totally blank for three minutes, after which the vista logo suddenly popped up followed by my desktop.

The other odd thing is that windows can no longer recognize my DVD/CD drive. It seems the same as always physically, at least as far as I can tell, but windows does not seem to know it's there; it's gone from both My Computer and device manager, and nothing happens when I insert a disc (even though it's set to autoplay.) The drive light still lights up and it still pops out like normal, however. I played a DVD on it just last night with no problems. Earlier that day I had burned a DVD, but that's something I do often and it's never posed any issues; the program I use is ConvertXtoDVD 3. It can't detect the drive either now.

I would assume these problems are connected somehow, since they both started at the same time; but I can't figure out how they're connected. I'm wondering if one cau... Read more

I have a 250GB Western Digital EIDE internal drive which I have installed in an external casing so as to connect to my laptop through a USB 2.0 cord. My drive is relatively new (less than six months old) and has been working beautifully since I got it. Until now. All of a sudden, when I plug it in (or turn it on), the Windows XP chime sounds (denoting the presence of a new peripheral) and my laptop's internal drive (80GB WD) begins to hum as it always has, getting ready to autoload the data.

However, all of a sudden it no longer autoloads. Nor does Windows Explorer display its presence as it always has. The external drive just sits there, humming along, the nice little blue light lit up (a sign that its recieving power) and absolutely no abnormal noises (I'm well aware that when a hard drive dies, there is usually a clicking noise).

The external is recognized under my devices, and when right-clicking its properties, it says "Your device appears to be working properly." (or whatever the default Windows line is). I can go into Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management >> Storage >> Disk Management and its displayed as alive and "Healthy".

I've even tried viewing it in the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools and it will correctly report its free/used space.

My HDD was fine and dandy until I recently had a problem and had to reinstall windows on it. When i went to install windows I noticed that it listed nothing to install to. I checked my bios and the HDD is there so I retried and seen it was still gone from the installation so i grabbed an old XP disk and tried it to no avail and also used ubuntu to see if it would detect it and it actually did but failed to partition the HDD or even install at all. I have tried 2 different windows 7's 3 different XP's, ubuntu, and 98, and a straight up dos. At the same time I tried to fix the MBR and the boot sector and did all them nice pretty DOS commands and the same in terminal.tried drivers to no avail and finally decided to come here and post. I would chalk it up to a dead HDD but my bios sees it just fine

Hi all, any help would be appreciated.

Using Windows 2000 Professinal SP4. I have beenusing a Lexar Jumpro flash with no problems for a while now. Suddenly today it no longer is recognized by the system. With the Device Manager showing, I insert the flash, the Device Manager window goes blank with an hourglass spinning. It will stay like this indefinitely. When I try clicking on the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" icon in the Task Bar lower left of my screen nothing happens. When I finally pull the USB flash the system comes alive again - meaning the Device Manager window refreshes and the Warning message about pulling a USB Mass Storage Device without first stopping it.

I upgraded from W7 to W8 last week and have since watched movies and played music from my laptop via my Samsung LCD TV which is connected by optical cable to my 5.1 Samsung surround sound.

All was working well in W7 however since the upgrade I've no longer got an option to play the sound through 5.1. Stereo is the only option.

I have installed the sound drivers and I also has K-lite Mega Codec Pack and AC3 Filter. AC3 Filter has given me some options to overrule the windows settings but the sound does not feel natural.

Why has the option to use 5.1 in W8 disappeared?

A:W7 to W8 upgrade - Samsung 7005za no longer supporting 5.1

I always do a fresh install of my OS, that is my suggestion to you. If their licensing allows you to fresh install it and only give your previous activation number from the other os as proof (which they did in the past) then you can go that route.

Can anyone tell my why as of yesterday, when I plug my Samsung Galaxy S3 into my downstairs windows 8 machine, it not only fails to show up in my computer, but also deactivates Windows. I actually got so wierded out by that last, that I wound up calling Microsoft. I had just spoken with them a week before this when after installing media center using a free key sent to me from microsoft, the same thing had happened. Windows had gone from activated to de-activated on this one computer. I say this because it may have some bearing. This time, while my phone call with the Philippines dragged on, I searched out the error code on google, and found that the phone being plugged in was the culprit. I unplugged it, pressed activate, and walla.. I was good to go. I plug it in, and I am back to being seen as a miscreant for some reason.

This all worked fine before yesterday. It still works fine on my upstairs computer which is also running Windows 8 pro. I can see the phone in device manager on my downstairs machine where the problem exists. On that machine, I updated all the phone drivers, and updated windows... Still happening. I plug in my Blackberry, it is detected fine, and I can browse files on the phone no problem. I can do the same on my Samsung on my upstairs computer, but what the heck is going on with my downstairs machine?

Any advice appreciated!!

Try the freezer trick. Place your hard drive in zip lock freezer bag to protect it from moisture and freeze it overnight (or a few hours at least). Quickly hook up the frozen hard drive and try to boot from it. If it works, be prepared to copy your important data as soon as possible before the hard drive warms up too much. This is not a permanent fix but it may work long enough to save your data.

Heya.

My CDrom has suddenly stopped working, windows no longer recognizes it.

I have tried replacing the cables, plugging it into a different port and replaced the CDrom all together with one that I know works.

It will power up during the initial boot.

Awhile ago it was announced that the P8P67 Motherboards had a defect or something? Story Here, Im not sure if that relates to my issue.
Other then that the only thing I can think of would be a driver related problem. If that's the case, what can I do.

Edit:
It doesn't even show in the Device Manager anymore, the only thing the computer shows regarding the CDrom is this entry in the event viewer.

There is a fix-it for XP, and Vista, but for win 7 it wants the user to run the Hardware troubleshooter first, and then if that does not work re-install the CD player.

See the note under the fix-it button:

Quote:
Note This automatic fix only applies to Windows XP and to Windows Vista. If your computer is running Windows 7, go to "Windows 7" under the "Let me fix it myself" section. Source: Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

The link under the Windows 7 takes you here

This is harder to explain than to just say......

Go to the troubleshooter in control panel,

Under Hardware and Sounds click on Configure a device.

Click on Advanced >click for automatically fix, and run as Admin.

Start troubleshooter, if it is not fixed, then you have to re-install the player.

It tells how about half way down the page here: Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

EventID 7026:
Event ID 7000 or 7026 is logged in the System log on a computer that is running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2008

Hey everyone!

So, I've been running into a weird situation and I was hoping to run into some clarification on what I could do to fix the problem.

I got a 128GB Flash Drive which I proceeded to install a portable, bootable Fedora install on. Of course, naturally, since Fedora is light weight, I had all sorts of other room left over. However, when I plug the USB drive back into the main Desktop, it no longer asks me what I want to do with the USB drive, even with AutoPlay stuff disabled. It's as if the USB Drive doesn't exist.

However, I checked quickly on one of my laptops that has never seen the drive and the AutoPlay on that device immediately popped in. When I selected "view files and folders", voila, I could see the Flash Drive with a folder for the Fedora install and plenty of other open space.

How can I force my computer to see this Flash Drive all over again?

Edit:
p.s. Funnily enough, it's doing the same thing with the storage on my fiance's iPhone. Which is fantastic... since I can't see her phone anymore when I plug it in (even iTunes doesn't see it).

I have an 8gb PNY SDHC card that I use to transfer pictures between my Canon DSLR and my Dell XPS m1530 laptop, which runs Win 7 Pro. I take pictures with the camera, pull out the card, pop it into my laptop's built-in card reader, and download the images. The card/camera/laptop setup has worked great for me over the past few months.

Long story short, I took some pictures with the camera this morning and tried to get my desktop computer (running windows xp media center) to read the card with it's own built-in reader. Nothing. The card doesn't even get recognized and whenever I click on the correct drive in 'My computer' the window freezes. So I try putting it in a USB card reader...and it worked! But as soon as I tried to get the card to read on my windows 7 laptop, it stopped working completely. Now it won't read on either computer, or the camera. It's as if I'm not plugging in anything at all! I've tried restarting both machines, but it's no use. I can't even format it from my camera. I'm at a total loss here.

I've got more than 400 images on the card that I really want to save here...can anyone help me?

Computer is a Dell D630 running in a docking station with Windows XP SP3

Recently I had a problem with an AdAware upgrade which caused my system to go into terminal blue-screen re-boot mode. I solved that by rolling back my system to a stable mode, and all seemed to be fine (and yes, I uninstalled AdAware and will not ever use it again). I provide this info as background since it was a fairly recent event - it may or may not be related to my problem however.

Today I went to upload some pics from my USB-connected camera, and my computer isn't seeing the camera. Tried a different camera, same thing. Tried a thumb-drive, nothing. Tried all the USB ports, including the ones in the docking station, nothing.

I've tried everything I'd read about "fixing" USB ports going away, to no avail. Powered everything down and disconnected overnight, no change. From Device Manager I Uninstalled all my USB drivers and then let them reinstall. That all seemed to go fine, but no change in the final outcome - nothing works when connected to any USB.

FWIW, the USB-connected device will get power when connected, it's just not otherwise communicating.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

The problem began with my always having to reinstall the drivers upon reboot. I found a solution, or so I thought, that advised me to delete my upper and lower filters entries in the registry. I only had an LowerFilters entry for AnyDVD. I deleted it and can no longer use the drive.

Dev Mgr shows drive with yellow excl. triangle (see image #1 below) and this msg under the general tab of properties - Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. The registry entries look like those on my other laptop with the exception of lowerfilters set to AnyDVD and upperfilters set to the manufacturer's driver (GEARaspiWDM) and that machine works just fine - for about 10 minutes and then overheats and shuts down - it's a Dell - but that's another story.

The drive has never really worked properly but now it's out of commission. I just got this laptop in June.

Normally you don't need to install any driver for DVD. Windows uses the generic driver for it and it should work.
The quick way to resolve this is to download a trial version of Windows 8 Manager and install it.
On the first screen, click on "Repair Center" then go to "Other Repair(I)" tab to repair your DVD.

Hello everyone,

A month or so ago I updated to Win8, 64bit. That all went fine and everything has been working fine. The night before last the DVD R/W just stopped working.

When I open Windows Explorer the drive is recognized, at least there is a drive letter for it, it says DVD RW Drive (Z: ). Like I said it has been working. I have played movies, installed a PC DVD game, etc.

When I double click on the drive, trying to access the disk that is in the drive I get a popup window saying, Application not found.

Running the troubleshooter accomplishes nothing, it just runs in a circle. The going to the device manager I see the drive, there are no signs of anything wrong (no yellow icons, etc), properties say the device is working properly, and trying to update the driver says that the correct drive is already installed.

I cannot figure out what is going on.

As the login name suggest, my knowledge of things is limited, so please, if you have a suggestion, please explain how to accomplish what you are asking me to do.

Thank you in advance for any help you give me.

Jim

About a year ago I used Universal USB Installer to install the Ubuntu Desktop ios onto my USB. Computers no longer recognize it as far as I can tell. It doesn't appear as a device with removable storage when I open the My Computer folder. I've tried putting it into another computer and the same thing happens.

I have just recovered from a major spyware/malware infestation with the help of Bleeping Computer and now I get error messages when I try to do things like edit my start up preferences in msconfig. I get this error message: An Accessed Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on an Administrator account to make the specified changes. But I am logged on an Administrator account! Interesting enough, it lets the changes go through even though Windows gives me an error message.I have three users that are administrators on my computer, me, my husband and an alternate user profile. I go into Control Panel>User Accounts and everyone there is designated as an administrator. Switching it on and off doesn't seem to resolve the problem.I read somewhere online that it might be registry damage from my recent malware infestation. One online source said I needed to use a program called SubInCAL to repair it: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/200.../04/739820.aspxHas anyone tried this? Is this the best way to go?Any ideas what the problem is and how I can fix it? Please let me know if you need more information. PS I am a newbie here on the forum...

This has happened to me before, and I forgot how to fix it - I had some problems with InCD conflicting with U3 flash drive. I see my DVD drive as a D: Drive but no application recognizes it, and if I double-click it open it always shows empty no matter what media is inside it. Auotoplay does not recognize it or launch a DVD title either. I've tried firmware update, uninstalling, nothing seems to work. As I said I fixed this one other time but can't remember what I did. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi,
I just got a new computer running Vista, and foolish me thought that maybe the bugs with AnyDVD would have been worked out by now, but I guess not. I installed it, it worked twice, and then said that my trial period was over (even though it was registered) Now since I uninstalled it because it wouldn't work any more, the dvd drive is not showing up. I remember that I have to change something in regedit, but I don't quite remember how to get to the right file once I open regedit. Can anyone help??

First try this fix to restore your drive: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htmIf you prefer a .reg file rather than a .exe, here's a link to a direct download: http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip

I purchased a new 500GB Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD for my Dell Latitude e5440 (running Windows 7 Pro).  The new drive was not visible in 'Computer', so I downloaded, installed, and ran the Samsung Magician software.
The Samsung software shows the drive is present.  And there was a "Validate" button - which I clicked - and now: "Drive Health Status: Good" and "Serial Number: Genuine" is displayed.
However the SSD is not visible when I double-click Computer, and the Samsung software states:
a. "AHCI Mode. Deactivated (IDE or RAID).  AHCI Mode is required for the best SSD performance."
b. SATA Interface N/A. Unable to detect SATA interface details.
c. OS Optimization N/A. OS optimization is only supported for disks using an OS drive.
Question 1: Will enabling this AHCI mode allow Windows to recognize the SSD?
Question 2: How do I do that?
Question 3: Will activating AHCI mode 'switch off' (disconnect) my 2.5" HDD?  (I want to keep Windows 7 on the 2.5" HDD, and install Windows 10 on the SSD to have a dual-boot system until I get used to Windows 10.)

A:Dell Latitude e5440 - Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD not recognized

1. Yes.
2.  Change it in system setup (F2 at powerup).
3.  You can dual boot but can't change the setup type to AHCI without reinstalling Windows onto the two drives  you want to use.  You will lose the contents of the hard drive when you do this.

Got a really weird problem here...I had a few games sitting on my desk for a couples months, and now my CD/DVD drive no longer recognized any of the discs when I put them in my drive. In other words, after putting them in the drive, if I go to My Computer, there is nothing indicated as being in my D: drive, and when I try to load the game it says that the disc wasn't found. However, my other games all work fine, it is just the few I had on my desk that no longer work. Also, I tried using the discs in another computer and they worked fine there. What the heck is going on here, I'm completely stumped.

My PNY 256MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive is no longer recognized by my Windows XP-SP2 system (Sony Vaio RZ14G), Mac OS 9.2.2 system (iBook) or Mac OS X system (iMac).

When I plug the flash drive into my Macs, the activity light on the device flashes for a short time and then nothing. No recognition.

When I plug the flash drive into my PC, I get the following pop-up message:

"USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. Recommendation: Try reconnecting the device if Windows still does not recognize it replace the device."

The drive may have suffered from a static discharge. Before the trouble, I could easily go between five different systems with no problems.

Any solutions to resurrrect the flash drive or at least retrieve the saved data?

If anyone could please help me I would appreciate it--after hating the new iTunes 11 (it froze up nearly every time I opened it) I went into Control Panel & used the Programs feature to uninstall it, and subsequently reinstalled an older version, 10.6.3. I was trying to burn some compilation CDs for a couple of my siblings for Christmas. Upon trying to burn these CDs, iTunes informed me that the "disk burner or software was not found." After doing a little research I went into the Device Manager in the Control Panel to see that there were little yellow warning signs, I tried running the troubleshooter & downloading a registry fix troubleshooter but neither really worked-- it downloaded the drivers and then informed me that they failed to install. I'm assuming this is some kind of registry issue that removing iTunes maybe affected, I don't know?

I have an Acer latptop, the following is the information I got from running DxDiag, if there is other information needed that I should obtain please inform me & I'll try to post it promptly--I'd like to be able get my CD drive working so I can burn these cds for my brothers.

Follow up related to this link here:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Elitebook-2760p-stylus-not-recognized/...   This happened out of nowhere. Touch screen is still working just fine. I can turn that on and it works. But the pen is no longer recognized by the computer at all.  No pen? No one-note. No point in computer. Driver is a 2006 driver, same one that was working just fine yesterday. Any ideas?  There have been no changes to this computer since 4/27 as far as automated win10 updates are concernced, and I have not done any updating manually. It ...just.. quit.

In the interest of science: I disabled/enabled all devices related to this. I rebooted no less than six times before the issue mysteriously resolved on its own.
