wheres my networking hardware

Q: wheres my networking hardware

I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 and when I try to connect to the internet it tells me that there is no network adapter, can someone help me PLEASE?

A: wheres my networking hardware

Go to Start/Search type devmgmt.msc, Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with Yellow Flags? Especially under Network Adapters?
Turn the laptop over and read the Full model number (eg) Compaq Presairo CQ57-xxxx.
On an internet computer, go to the HP Support/Software and Drivers tab HP Customer Support | HP? Customer Support and type in your make and model # or choose it from the list. Choose your version of Windows 7 (eg) 32bit or 64bit Under Driver-Network download your Network Adapter driver, and any other device drivers with yellow flags in the Device Manager. if on another computer, Save them to a USB Flash Drive and install it on the troubled computer.

How do you configue 2 network adapters in 1 PC? I had a nice network set up between my 2 PCs, ICS and file sharing. THEN @home cable modem installers used my network card for the cable modem. They said they don't support networks, gave me another network card and said I could put it in and set up my previous network just like it was>>>NOT!
Once I found an address and got the new card going, I can't get it to reconize anything, all the bindings go directly to the @home network group. I can't create a new group.
I have tried everything, the cable modem will NOT work on a hub, we tried that. Tried a USB network adapter, but modem will only work on that IF we remove the NIC.
I have seen a Lynksys cable/DSL modem router that may work. You plug your already working network into it and the modem.
Any network tech-heads out there?

A:hardware/networking

You need two nic cards in the machine with the cable modem nic. You then can either use a hub or a crossover cat 5 cable to connect the lan portion of the network.

for detailed info go here and look under guides, there a three of them, one for lan, one for network, and one for internet connection sharing using win98se. If you don't have win98se then get a copy of spoonproxy to use as the proxy server. www.firingsquad.com http://www.pi-soft.com/spoonproxy.html

I've looked all over the net, and I am considering Geek Squad, but I'm a little hesitant shelling out $80. I got a preowned Vista Gateway computer from my uncle, who said he decommissioned it. I don't have a clue what he did, but apparently I am now missing my networking driver.. at first I couldn't connect to the Internet. It kept saying there was no networking hardware or adapter detected or installed. I looked in my device manager, and there's no network anything in there... I also discovered this morning that I cannot delet anything. Once it begins the process of sending the file(s) to the recycle bin, it goes nowhere; the transfer speed remains at 0 kbps/sec and never changes.

I can't delete anything and I can't use the Internet, both problems I need to resolve in a hurry.

Hey guys! New to the forum and I've got a birthday coming up so I need some advice. I would like a piece of networking hardware that meets this criteria: In order of importance
A) Acts as an access point
B)Allows me to connect to my wireless network on a separate floor though an ethernet port
C) is >$100
Any input would be greatly appreciated

A:Networking hardware Question

Well, for (A) you could get any wireless router or wireless access point.

For (B), if I understand correctly, you could get an "ethernet converter" or a wireless router or wireless access point that also supports wireless bridge (or AP client) mode.

Usually I'd expect to find a wireless router or wireless access point with the (B) capability for around $50 to $80, but here is an example that meets your (C) criteria.

I want to network three computers located on the same desk. Ofice Depot is offering a D-Link 22 Mbps wireless router for $15 (after rebates). Although I don't need wireless at this time, I would like to know if I could connect the three computers to the router with CAT5e patch cables and create my network. My Internet service is via a municipal wireless service. I have an antenna on the roof cabled to an external Orinoco card which then runs to a USB port on which ever computer I choose.

I'm running:
(1) Dell Inspiron 2500 laptop, Windows XP home, D-Link PCMCIA card (DFE-690TXD)
(2) Hewlett Packard Pavilion XL753 desktop, Windows Me, 10/100 card.
(3) Generic desktop, Windows XP Pro, 10/100 card.

Hey guys,

Sort of new to this forum, but I have this major question in which I have not found any answers to as of yet. I just recently got a PC, it is a Dell Optiplex 755 and it was running Windows 7. My friend didn't give me the password to it cause he had forgotten it, so he was trying to give it away for free as it was useless. The only way I was able to get through was to use a Windows Vista installation disk (which, luckily, I had lying around). Then I was able to get in. But the problem was that the computer would not at all connect to the internet, wireless or wired. I checked the connection settings, no connections were showing up (and my Macbook did have all the connections coming through). I tried clicking on Diagnose and Repair, but that said I was missing some networking hardware. So I found another disk that had some drivers on it. I installed drivers that were network and ethernet related, but still no luck. So I hooked up an ethernet cable from my router to the computer, still nothing. The signal was coming through, but it said "Unidentified Connection" and wasn't transmitting any data, so nothing was happening. Now, let me restate, the internet on that computer is not working whatsoever, so I am not sure how to install the correct drivers or whatever I must install. Please help guys, I am a noob with Windows computers. Will I be able to find the drivers on my Mac and transfer them via USB to my comp? I don't even know the specific on... Read more

Did you reinstall Win 7?
Have you installed the device driver for your Network device (PCI/PCI-E or onboard)

Also, please fill out your System Specs in User CP. That may help solve the problem.

Hello!
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on my desktop. Now, I am unable to connect to the internet. Whenever I use Windows Network Diagnostics it informs me I need to "install a driver for my network adapter". However, using the "connect to the Internet" option from the Control Panel>Network and Internet informs me that "Windows did not detect any networking hardware". I would greatly appreciate any assistance and will gladly get back to you with any information you desire.

In addition, it appears that my video card is not being recognized as well, given that my screen resolution is incorrect and the dxdiag shows my video card as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". I assume that it's also a driver issue that I can resolve once I have my internet working.

Hello TheHumbleDespot, welcome to the Seven Forums.

You need to find a PC with Internet access and download drivers for your GPU and network controller. Download them to a USB stick or other removable media, then transfer to your PC and install.

Not knowing what network controller you have I cannot help you there. Your Nvidia GPU drivers can be found here: GeForce GTX 560 Ti and GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Hello,

I am very new about Computer networking, i have two main questions regarding what should we do if i want to hook up networking at home???

1-Computer hard ware component to hook up network
What should i have?

2-Software
My company is using Windows server 2012 with Exchange server , and all clients have own company e mail account to open with Microsoft outlook.

The question is, if i want to hook up network and study at home about computer networking as what my company has as users company e mail account etc..
What should i do to get it learning at home?
Please forgive me for my questions is not make scenes because i am poor with that.

A:Software and Hardware networking for hook up.

Do you have a copy of Server and a product key?

You really don't need any equipment other than a PC and a ton of ram (less ram if you don't want to run the VM's at the same time)

Virtual Box has good options for creating a LAN network that can communicate with eachother.

As far as getting the Server software, that all depends on you. I'm a student and my College has an account with Dreamspark so I get Server 12r2, Win7, and Win 8.1 for free.

Hello everyone!
Ok so i re installed windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my Packard Bell EasyNote Tk87. My problem now is i cannot connect to the internet, when i go to networking and sharing it says 'Windows did not detect any networking hardware'. If i go into device manager I have yellow exclamations over CD-ROM Drive and Memory Module. When i click on 'show hidden devices' at the top of the page it brings up Network Adapters and there are 8
WAN Miniport options each with a different thing in brackets after them which are (IKEv2), (IP), (IPv6), (L2TP), (Networking monitor), (PPPOE), (PPTP) and (SSTP). They all seem to be working properly so i'm sure there must be something missing or incorrect.
Also the grapics seem very basic not like the normal HD snazzy graphics and layout it had before.

Please can someone help me or point me in the direction of the correct driver downloads i need that i can download to an external hard drive so i can put them on to the laptop. I would be eternally grateful

Hi!

Our business rents from a large, shared office building. We have our own wireless network, but internet service provision is handled by the building itself. Currently, our main office space houses a Cisco Linksys router (WRT160N) which seems to be working, but is at least 3 years old. In my office, far down the hall from that router, is a Netgear Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender (WN2500RP) that seems to be working, and a N600 Netgear Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (WNDA3100vs) that blinks in and out of service, so we're planning to replace it.

Our technician is not a networking professional, so we have failed to obtain advice about the products that we're using. So! Thought I'd look here for help.

Netgear recommends upgrading the adapter to an A6200 WiFi USB Adapter. I've come across a deal that offers both that model AND a Netgear R6200 WiFi Router bundle.

Is it beneficial to have matching manufacturers' products? (All Netgear rather than Netgear working with Linksys?) Do we even have the right setup for our offices?

Currently there are 2 desktops connected to this network. Soon, there may be a third. We all need to connect to our wireless network (and therefore to our NAS which stores all shared data.)

Please provide some guidance?

Thanks so much!

A:Networking issues / Hardware questions

it is not eseential that the manufacturers be the same, but it does cut down on incompatibilities. i would just look for the best that you can afford and check to make sure the can work together. my thoughts are that if it's not broke, don't fix it. i would say that google is your friend, but google is evil, bing is your friend.

I'll post up the thread I created in the networking forums:

http://forums.techguy.org/networking/683453-network-problem-media-disconnected.html

I've come to believe that this isn't a networking issue anymore since its the motherboards connection that is being the pain.

I've switched the cables around with another computer in the house, Still no luck there.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte S-Series GA-P35-DS3R, Intel.

Last night I did an ipconfig /release, shut down my system, and turned off the power bar. This morning I turned everything back on, but the PC / Activity light wasn't working. Played around a bit, no luck, reinstalled drivers, checked the BIOS to make sure its enabled, etc...

Figured I'd ask the hardware forums if they know of anyway to test or check the connection for my NIC build into the mobo? From what I can tell, there are no lights on the outside or inside of the system (its about 5 days old roughly, I'm just use to the normal lights in them and never realized there just might not be any on this system build).

Right now I'm connected with a USB but well, 12MB vs 100 just isn't to my fancey.

Thanks.

A:Possible hardware issue with motherboard networking?

The lights for the NIC are built into the connector, see page 20 of the MB manual (Rev 1.0, other Revisions may be different page No.), which can be downloaded from here:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Manual_Model.aspx?ProductID=2543

You say the NIC has a red X on it; is this in Device Manager? Or Network Connections?
Are any errors displayed in Device Manager (red x or yellow exclamation point)? If so, what is the error that is displayed on the General tab of the properties page for the NIC? (Right click the NIC in Device Manager, click properties). It may just say Disabled, and have a button to click to enable it.

I really need some solid help here. I'm not by any means a pc wizard but somehow I can't figure this one out. For all the pc problems I have encountered I have managed to fix by Googleing it, this time, I've failed and I need your help please.

I have an hp pavilion 15-p100dx that was running on Windows 8.1. Well, I removed the hard drive and installed an ssd, 8gb of ram and also fresh installed windows 7 pro on new ssd. It's blazing fast now and I got windows 7 pro running now. However, now I can't connect to the Internet because of the above mentioned. Not even the Ethernet is working so I can't even update any of the drivers online.

I went to hp software and updates to download network adapter drivers but it says windows 7 pro is not supported on the hp pavilion 15-p100dx so I'm at a loss now. Hello everyone I am having an insane amount of trouble with my Acer Aspire laptop that was working correctly until all the sudden the wireless went out stating that there is 'no networking hardware'I'm not sure what could cause this but two new things happened the night it went out.1. I bought a wireless signal for my desktop (I read somewhere in the Windows help files that the signal could knock out others I think it's silly but who knows)2. I bought a new mouse, tried to install it only to find that numerous people could not find the hardware for it. It went from lit up with no hardware found, nonfunctional. To not lit up but the computer still tried to install the software, no good. I feel like this problem is mainly associated with a cheap mouse because I wasn't the only one who could not install it.Those are the only two new things to happen to this laptop in the 24 hour period it went from functioning to no wireless hardware what so ever. My router is 2 feet away. I have tried removing the battery and disconnecting it from the wall, have tried turning off the signal, then on again. A:Acer Aspire 7551 laptop No networking hardware

Hello Jade Knight,

First of all could you explain more fully what you mean by you "bought a wireless signal for your desktop" ?? Did you install a wireless adapter in the desktop or what?

Moving forward, you can open up Action Center on the laptop, click on Troubleshooting, then on Network and Internet, and then on Network Adapter. This will troubleshoot ethernet and wireless adapters. The Troubleshooter checks a large number of common problems and tries to fix them automatically. Good place to start.

If the Troubleshooter doesn't correct the problem then try opening a command prompt and typing in ipconfig /all. The output will list all network adapters and their physical address. This will tell you if the system evens knows of the adapters or not.

Move on to Device Manager under Devices and Printers in Control Panel. With Device Manager open Expand the Network adapters group and look for any icons on the adapters listed.
A black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field ? Indicates that the device is not functioning properly.
A red ?X? ? Indicates the device as been disabled.
A blue ?i? on a white filed ? Indicates the device was manually configured
If any of the above icons appear, try right clicking the problem device and enable if disabled or uninstall the device and then reinstall the device.

Copy the results of the ipconfig/all and paste into next post, also let us know what you discovered in Device Manager.

Good Luck

Hi pofolks4,

Can you attach the screenshoot?

Run Disk Cleanup tool and clear the Thumbnails (Attached Screen shot).

Click Start > Type: "folder options" and open > Go to view Tab > uncheck "always show icons, never thumbnails" under Files and Folders (Attached Screen shot).

Ok I took the plunge and upgraded to IE7. HATE IT! where is the OE link on my toolbar or task bar or whatever that is? Now I am forced to go to my desktop to access OE whereas with IE6 there was the little envelop icon up top there that was my OE link. If I dont get a clear answer on this I am just going back to IE no matter what the risk as far as critical updates I just cannot STAND IE7 .For me IE6 was simple it was a clean look and simple use this IE7 is stupid, makes no sense it was just done to compete and from what I have heard from bigger geeks than I is, Microssoft is years late and about a million dollars too short (to corrupt the old cliche) with IE7,ok This is just IMHO but its how I feel abouti t. So can someone help me I even tried to see if I could put OE as a favorites but cannot do THAT either. save IE7's life on my puter (if u care, about IE7 cos I don't) I just want to return to the times of old and easier. thanks y'all bad

Im running Outlook 2002 on 5 different computers via a server running Microsoft Exchange Network. When I assigned delegate acces to four of them, there was no fight. However, one of them will not let me assign delegate access no matter what I do. I have tried using the add-in manager to set up the delegate option, but it doesnt do anything. I cannot see the delegates tab in options, nor can I see it in the inbox options. I am trying to assign delegate access for read access to the inbox, and read, edit, modify access to the calendar. Anyone have any bright ideas? Cause im tapped out. Thanks

A:Wheres the Delegates?

If you right-click the inbox (or calendar) and go to Properties, do you see a Permissions tab? You should be able to grant permissions from there. It works much the same as the delegates tab, but when you grant people permissions in delegates, it also gives them the ability to "send on behalf of" the user, which may or may not be what you want. Let us know whether the permissions tab is visible and whether that's helpful, or not what you're looking for.

My older second reserve laptop - Toshiba Satellite A30-921, came with a 40gb hd and 512mb ram with Winxp (approx 5 years old)
Decided to try and get it back to life and give it a second chance, as in the past it kept rebooting every 10 minutes, and was so slow when it was working.
Used the product recovery disks for a fresh new start, removed one of the 256mb memory modules and replaced it with 1gb, so now up to 1.2 gb ram.Its even managed to install Windows SP3 without any hitches.
Only need to use it for email/ surfing at present, but would like to download stuff in the future.
Have installed Norton 360 as I have this on my other laptop with a 3 user licence.

Up to yet, no problems BUT, can you answer me this:

USED SPACE SHOWING ON C:LOCAL DISK =14.3 GB !!
FREE SPACE = 22.8 GB

I have not installed any Office suite/word/works/excel etc, I have not downloaded any pictures, music, documents
Space being used for "Documents/shared docs"= 5mb (sample stuff)
Space used on currently installed programs (taken from control panel) = 312mb

Whats eating up all my space, and what kind of % of used space should determine whether to upgrade the hd in the future ?
Thanks

OCZ SSD 32GB
SEAGATE 7K 8M 250GB HD
SAPPHIRE ATI 5670 1GB
ANTEC 500W PSU

Heres the problem. I used the SSD as the boot drive, but I cant find the 250GB HD. I hooked up the storage via sata...like this: SSD-sata 1, Seagate-sata 2, front panal sata jumper-sata 3.
Windows 7 doesnt show the 250GB drive since I chose the SSD as the boot drive upon installing windows 7. So, what do I do?

Thx for any help, CJ

hello all;
heres a good one for the gurus.
i am running an hp compaq dc5850 sff. i have two hdd. one with all my America's Army stuff on it. on one i have the deploy client and game but nothing else that pertains to AA2.
so i decide to start to set up AA2 on the vista hdd as it is on xp hdd, the first thing i do is go to my maps website of choice and start to download the user created maps i like. everything looks good, i choose the correct directory and file and even hit the open folder button to make sure the map is in the right place and it is.
now the good part, i close everything up and go back to the map to make sure it will start and play correctly and it is not there, i search for it from the search window at start and search tells me the closet it could find was the same map but on the E drive, which is where the xp hdd is when i boot vista.
any ideas?

can someone help? I just ran restore from a backup on an external harddrive, it took over 5 hrs, then finished. But where is all my 'restored' data?? I cant find it....

if this is too vague tell me and i will try to explain further but its pretty straight forward....

is there something more i must do?

A:wheres my restored data?

If the restore ran properly, the restored files and folders should be in the same places they were when you did the backup. It sounds like either there was a problem with the backup or there is a problem with the restore. Let's make sure you're doing things correctly before assuming there is some problem with the system or the hardware or the backup file - which we will address later if this doesn't help. The following should help:

Here's an article on the restore procedure: http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files just to make sure you're doing it right. It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a complete restore of a complete backup) - but since you did a full backup it matches your process closer than a complete restore would.

Here's another excellent tutorial on the Restore process: Restore Backup Files.

Here's an article on how to use Advanced Restore (when normal restore doesn't work): http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

Restore files from a backup
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Restore-files-from-a-backup

Please follow the steps outlined in this tutorial - Hard Disk Partition Letter Missing in Windows 7 - Fix

If you still encounter the same errors, please try to download and use TestDisk, here

Be sure to read the software documentation carefully before proceeding with running the software.

Alternatively, please try booting off of your Vista partition and do a check disk on the drive in question. Check to see if the issue is still present when you boot back to Windows 7 then try the suggested steps above.

Hi

I was browsing through using FireFox 2.0.0.4 - had a couple of tabs open - one or 2 tabs related to localhost.
When I switched tabs and clicked on a browse link in one tab (one with phpMyAdmin loaded, to browse through the rows), I got the blue screen.

Memory got dumped as usual. Told to CHKDSK /F to check for drive errors etc.
I dont get this often. Probably thrice in the last 3 yrs - and the first 2 were hardware related I think.

After a restart, I got the Technical Error Report and that something created at

Code:
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERebe1.dir00\Mini070607-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERebe1.dir00\sysdata.xml
But both these dont exist.

How can I know what went wrong and where ?

I typed "tablet wallpaper" into google images. It says

"About 25,800,000 results"

I keep clicking "Show more results" until I get to "page" 50 and it ends with a picture that says "I heart ipad".

Then thats it. No button to load more results. Google said 25,800,000 results. That certainly wasn't 25,800,000 results.

A:Wheres the REST of googles results ?

I did a search using your exact phrase and my results were: About 47,100,000 results (0.15 seconds)A quick google search for a definition of those results netted: Statistics Bar: Describes your search, includes the number of results on the current results page and an estimate of the total number of results, as well as the time your search took. For the sake of efficiency, Google estimates the number of results; it would take considerably longer to compute the exact number. This estimate is unreliable.Bold is mine. From the preceding I extrapolate that the guesstimation number is a product of Google's algorithm for every possibility of those two words and how they would be used as well as them being used combined. As well as possibly wall and paper individually . To get every single one of those guesstimated results you would likely need to refine your search parameters repeatedly. For example Samsung 'tablet wallpaper' then ipad 'tablet wallpaper' so on and so on. Not to mention probably include every known language as well. This is my theory. Also there was this bit of information about search results:Ordered by relevance to your query, with the result that Google considers the most relevant listed first. Consequently you are likely to find what you're seeking quickly by looking at the results in the order in which they appear. Google assesses relevance by considering over a hundred factors, including how many other pages link to the page, the positions... Read more

In this picture, you can see a settings button for the Loudness Equalization enhancement. When I go to the enhancement tab, there is no settings option (or "Preview" or "Restore Defaults"). Why is this? I wanted to see what the "Release time" option does, and I can't get to it.

Also, while I'm here, I was wondering if there was a way I could "tweak" loudness equalization. I want to make low/quiet sounds louder, but I don't want to reduce the volume of louder sounds. Is this possible? I've been googling for ~2hrs and I came across the Release time setting, and I was gonna mess with it, but it's missing.

Thanks!

" and then it goes on to say things like check your drive configuration or the drive health and things like that. all this when at the the bootup it does show the hard drive connected at SATA port 1. !! ? i run seagate diagnostic tool on it and it showes the drive as perfectly healthy. i dont know why is it doing it. the hard disk is spanking brand new. the same goes for the 120GB WD SATA. the interesting thing it has no issue with the good old IDE HD's. i connected my old maxtor IDE hard drive and the setup ran as smooth as it can get. i dont know why setup isent detecting the SATA HD. is it the board or is it somthing else. any ideas !

Greetings and thanks for any help here...
Back story...Last week I bought a new computer running Windows 7 Pro,
Before my new computer arrived I installed Microsofts Easy Transfer program on my old XP computer , ran the program and sucsessfully transfered my files on to a new blank CDRW disc.
Today I fired up the new computer for the first time, ran the Easy Transfer program , pointed to the CDRW disc and the program formated as expected.
when the program was completed and files were apparently transfered and the programs status window closed. and that was it, nothing more.....
I unhid my system files and and searched everywhere with no resolve (sighs..) would one of you fine folks please help me locate my transfered files as the are very important to me.
Thank you again.. I'll check back often

A:Used Windows Easy Transfer but now wheres my files?

In the start menu go to Accessories -> System Tools -> Windows Easy Transfer Reports and open it up.  The Transfer Report will show what has been transferred.  If you click Documents it should show you exactly where it's placed your document files and what they were.

I wanted a clean slate for my computer so I reinstalled Windows 7 (not upgrade, i used custom)with just the disc. It's a custom built PC that my friend generously gave to me so I didn't have any manufacturers disc to work with. Anyway, it's always had an Internet connection through a wired connection, and after it finished booting it wouldn't let me connect to the net even with the ethernet cord plugged in. I quickly realized something must have happened to the driver in the process of reinstalling, and now I need to find the drivers to install them onto my computer again but I have no clue where to find them.

I've already tried uninstalling the drivers, and then scanning for hardware changes to get them to reinstall but it did not work. It still says there are issues. I also can't use Windows Update since well, I can't connect to the net. When I go to Devices and Printers, I see a ! By my comp name. I try to troubleshoot but it says my Universal Serial Bus Controller doesn't have a driver, and my Ethernet Controller doesn't have a driver. Here is a text file (Try to find "Problem Devices" in the text file that may help on the text file) I've attached with my system info let me know if you guys need any more info, I'd really appreciate any help on what drivers to get and/or how to fix this issue.

Welcome to the Seven Forums Fissionmailedgf.

Please fill up your System Specs to the extent you can for more meaningful help. That said the information that you have furnished says "Ethernet Controller OK". Therefore Ethernet Controller is there. Kindly open the Device Manager and check the status of the Ethernet Controller and if properly installed then name of the Network Adapter that is installed.

I apologize but having searched other threads on the same subject and having no luck I think I need to describe my problem specifically.

I had a hard drive failure so just fitted a new WD internal drive to my desktop and freshly installed Win 7 Pro, 64Bit. It can't connect to a network and states "Windows did not detect any Networking Hardware". I've looked in the system info and can seeWAN Miniport (SSTP) listed among other things under network adapter. Is one of them it? It seems to have an associated driver listed but it's obviously not working.

I've spent the last two hours at least searching for an answer to this but hope someone here can now help. I have access to the internet using my Win 8 laptop (using it now to write this).

If you need more information on the system please let me know and I'll supply what I can.

Thanks for any help.

Trying to access the internet via my router/WiFi but the message:
'Windows did not detect any networking hardware'
This appears and will only bring up DSL or Dial up alternatives.
I've tried to determine 'Motherboard' type/manufacturer by physical examination/viewing and can find no identifying label.
Unit is still (as of May 18, 2016) disconnected/back removed and ready for someone to help me identify anything that has to do with the above issue (? hardware reference).
Can anyone help?

Dear all,

My ASUS laptop (i7-4700HQ; windows 8.1 installed couple of months ago) always shows the available Wifi connections, including those of the neighbours.

Today my grandson (1,5 years old) played on the PC and afterwards my laptop did not detect any Wifi connections. Other devices (laptops and smartphones) do show the Wifi signals perfectly). Printscreens and additional information.docxSee printscreens for additional information about the wireless adaptor, pop-up and laptop.

I already tried the following:
- Turn off laptop - turn off modem - turn on modem - turn on laptop (twice)
- Switch off and on the wireless button (fn+f2), turning the wireless signal off and on again (5 times)
- Close and reopen the laptop screen (10 times)
- Starting and following the troubleshooting - this did not give any suggestions or findings (5 times)

My feeling is that it is a simple solution, since it always worked fine and my grandson pushed a couple of buttons. I don't dare to Refresh Windows, as my apps will be uninstalled, right? Or will this be an effective solution possibly?

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Marieke

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my Dell Inspiron M5040 and when I try to connect to the internet it says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware". I figured it might be a missing driver, so I found this website http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/...n-15-amd-m5040.

I've downloaded numerous drivers and none fixed my problem. It feels like I'm picking numbers out of a hat. Can someone show me which driver fixes this issue?

I eventually found the driver.

I recently had to reinstall windows, and now have no programs. Tried to get online to get my McAfee installed and got the error of no connections detected. When I try to set up a connection I get "windows did not detect any networking hardware".... HELP!

A:"Windows did not detect any networking hardware"

How did you do the reinstall ? Do you have a retail version of the OS and did a clean install, or do you have a preinstalled version and used the method they gave you to take it back to factory settings ?

You haven't given us any details about the machine so it would help the experts if you told them what make and model machine it is and is it a desktop or laptop. Perhaps you need to install the drivers for your machine, did you get them on a CD ?

Don't forget we can't see your machine so need as many details as possible so we can help you solve your problem.

Hi there!

I recently had to wipe then reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on my desktop. How ever I am pretty new to the whole computer scene so some baby steps would be great.

Thanks

Hello, I have a toshiba satelitte laptop with windows 7 and I recently had a virus so I reformatted the computer and now I cannot connect to the internet. It comes up with the "windows did not detect any networking hardware". However, it shows the connections available and if I click the connections button it comes up with a different message. "The dependency service or group failed to start.". Also it won't let me turn my firewall on. I have tried numerous things such as restting the ip and what not. Nothing has worked :( helppp!!!! Thank you

A:windows did not detect any networking hardware windows 7

adamcato, click the start button, then type Device Manager in the Search Box. Click Device Manager in the list. Look under Network Adapters and see if your network cards have an X or exclamation next to them. You may have to go to Toshiba's website and download the network card drivers.

Try using an ethernet cable connected to your router from the laptop or use another computer and download the drivers to a flash drive, then install on the laptop.

I have a pc with win vista on hdd 0 and win 7 on hdd 1 both are a SATA connected disk drives ,the system boots up on the win 7 choice of o/s but not with the windows vista selection , when the system has booted in win 7 I can hear hdd 0 restarting and spinning up so I'm thinking that theres either a data parity error or a hardware issue with the disk drive ,what I would like to do is convert the pc to just run on windows 7 because I dont really use the windows vista o/s much , if its a hardware fault I would like to replace the hard drive but only have a single o/s on the system , I would like to know where the BCD file is kept and also how to go about this task of going from a dual boot to single boot system with just the 1 o/s.
any help would be appreciated
Brian....26sw905

A:make a dual boot pc into a single boot pc ,wheres the bcd stored?

The Vista bootloader and the Win 7 bootloader are the same.

I can't answer your question but my guess would be that the boot files on are on the Win 7 hard drive, if it's the latter install.

I'd probably just install EasyBCD on the Win 7 drive...and then see if it automatically recognizes the Vista install. If not, then manually add the Vista install to EasyBCD, making Win 7 the default. That should (IMO) ensure that Win 7 remains bootable. Then just format/remove the Vista drive.

A simple way to find out...is to temporarily detach the Vista drive...and see if Win 7 boots. If it does, the files are on the Win 7 drive .
