Pavilion x2 won't charge

Q: Pavilion x2 won't charge

Hi all, I bought a new Pavilion x2 two days ago.Today I tried to charge it for only the 2nd time ever and nothing. It doesn't recognise that it's even plugged in.It's a holiday here so all shops are closed.Seems to me like a faulty charger, and I see on this forum that lots of HP users have similar problems. Is it common for HP chargers to be dodgey?Any other ideas? Thanks

I have had my laptop for just over a year, and so far it hasn't had any problems except I had to reinstall windows. The problem is that it now won't recharge at all, it stays at 63%, I have checked all the plugs and they all seem to work, I unplugged it and it recognised that the recharger is not plugged in. The problem is that it won't charge, It says plugged in and not charging. Does anybody have any ideas of what could be the problem or the solution?

thanks in advance

Please help

The SMART chip inside the battery is like other electronics...it can fail for no apparent reason. You have a dead, dead battery that needs replacement. Are you under warranty?

My HP pavilion does not take charging after 80% and sometimes the charging light starts blinking. It shows plugged in , not charging.

A:My HP pavilion 15 notebook does not charge after 81%

Have you tried a battery diagnostic either in the UEFI diagnostics (F2 as you power on) or in the HP Support Assistant running from Windows? Stopping at 81% seems like it may be a dead power cell in the battery. Can we have the full model number of the laptop and an idea how old the battery is? Original?

Recently my Pavilion 10-n000na x2 has refused to charge when the device is powered on. When I attach the charger to the USB-c port the LED indicator light stays white and does not turn orange (charging) and the power indicator in windows task bar shows battery power only and no AC power. When the device is powered down and plugged in it does appear to charge, albeit with increasing reluctance. Occasionally when attaching the power cord when the system is running I will get a windows device popup advising the the USB device I have just attached could not be recognised. This device is still under warranty and both the device and powere cord seem to be in good condition. I am unable to contact HP support as they are only available during hours when I am at work.

My  HP Pavilion x360 will only charge when the lid is closed or the computer is in sleep mode. I have tried changing any relevant power settings and have already consulted multiple friends. I'm wondering if there's a hidden setting I have yet to discover The HP assistant check said the battery is OK.  I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 some time ago not sure if there is a link to the problem I saw a thread for the fix for the Windows 8.1 but sure if that will work for Windows 10 tried a few of the videos on you tube  about uninstalling  drivers but they did not help. any clues please

A:Hp Pavilion dv4 strange issue, not taking charge

The power jack connector on laptops are soldered (internally) to the motherboard. If the solder connection should break, power can't be delivered (internally) to power the battery or run the computer.

You might try it yourself (see here) if you're comfortable doing so or you'll need to take it to a repair shop

HI There,Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 my HP Pavilion x360 has been a complete wreck. Including charging and sound issues. I've been able to resolve the sound issue by using device manager and uninstalling the drivers entirely. I have done the same for the charging problem but to no avail-restart after restart it refuses to charge. This 2-in-1 tablet/pc was purchased about a year ago. And has only had problems since the upgrade. I do not feel comfortable removing the battery as the batter on this particular model is actually enclosed in the casing. As I mentioned I've uninstalled the battery drivers from device managers a few times. Is there:1. A way to get the battery to take a charge without removing it (i.e. troubleshooting site)2. A way to roll they OS all the way back to Windows 7? I've tried rolling it back a few versions but I'm still in Windows 10. Thanks for your help!

I installed a new battery today and the guy in the store said it wouldn't be fully charged. My computer booted up fine but they I got a warning that the battery was at 14%. I had the power cord plugged in so it should started charging but it didin't. I got my neighbors computer, similar model and I put my battery in his and it started charging so then I plugged in my power cord and it is still charging. So I know my battery is good and my power cable is good because they both work on his computer so there is something wrong with the connection where I plug it in or somewhere else in the computer. When you plug the power cord in the LED should light up but there is no light. Any ideas of anything I can check or do I have to take it in for repair?

Hi I recently purchased a Tiny universal adaptor after having left my H.P charger in a different location which meant I was going to be without it for a week or so.The Tiny charger did not pass on any power to the laptop.. I have since got back the H.P charger which came with the laptop, and tried powering it up. Still nothing.  My laptop is one of the B&O line with a non-removable battery. Do I need to claim on the warranty and replace or is there an easy fix? ThanksWill

So my laptop has two LED lights, one in the front and one near the plug-in for the charger. Before it would charge perfectly and both lights turned on, then my charger broke and my grandmother got me a charger. This charger worked perfectly but the near-plug-in-LED light stopped turning on. Only the front one was turning on, but aside from that everything seemed just fine. My laptop requires a 120w Charger and the charger she gave me was of 65w. I didn't know this until about a week ago since suddenly during gameplays it would just randomly stop charging after about 5 minutes into a video game or after maybe 2 hours of just browsing and stuff. I went to a place to get it checked  and they told me it was because of the charger, etc etc. Now I bought a new charger and it's still the same, it charges (even though the battery icon says it's on 84% and doesn't move from there) but it suddenly just stops charging after a while again. The problem with it not charging is that my laptop gets extremely laggy and only lasts about 1 minute before it shuts down.Is it the battery? Please tell me there's another solution... Batteries are expensive. The reason I added so much detail to this question is because I don't want to leave anything out. Thanks

Hello fellow techies,
I have a situation with my Compaq Evo N600c battery or something in that directions, so I need possible solutions. My laptop needs to be plugged in at all times, which makes it frustrating because its a portable laptop. If it becomes unplugged the laptop will turn off within 10 seconds flat. I fear that this will, if it hasnt already done so, mess up my electric circuits among other components. Can any of you suggest or recommend options I can use to diagnose the situation. I would like to find out what the problem is, whether I should buy a new battery or some component or prong that I need to replace? Thanks for the feed back!

Linda

A:Battery will not charge or hold charge?!?!

Yup, sounds like a battery problem.

First, make sure the battery has a charge. Most laptop batteries have a button on them somewhere you can push that will give you the power level. Alternativly, there should be a utility in windows or the BIOS that will allow you to check the power level.

If the battery has no charge and isn't charging, then replace it with a known good one and see if it will charge up when the laptop is plugged in.

If the good battery won't charge up, then there is a problem with your motherboard.

If the battery has charge but won't power the system, then there is a problem with your motherboard too.

If this is the case, then the best you can do is contact the laptop manufacturer and get them to replace the motherboard.

A:will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?

Actually that's a hard question, generally its not possible to install another motherboard, sometimes it is. In this case one is an AMD platform and the other is an Intel platform, there could be tons of differences in mounting holes, physical design, clearance, connectors, heat dissipation requirements, cooling systems, etc. Laptops are not like desktops that use more standardized designs.

Both computers are Core i3-4130, have 1 TB 7200 SATA 6G 3.5 HDs, same OS (Windows 7 Pro 64). Hi All,  I was using my machine yesterday and during use, it stopped charging the battery (even though it was plugged in) the laptop then proceeded to run out of battery and not turn on. I decided to change the fuse in the charger thinking that might be the problem. However, the machine would still not switch on. I then decided to pull out the multimeter I had lying around and at the charging point on the charger, I found that it was producing the correct 20v. Searching I removed the battery and power supply and held down the power button on the machine, and it is still not switching on, or showing any signs of life =[ Any help would be great before I call out someone out,  Thanks!

I am going to be installing a server and 2-3 desktop PCs at my Mom's office. I will be researching their needs and figuring out the specs for the server and PCs for them. The server will be running Windows Small Business Server 2003 and I will be setting it up as a Domain Controller. The desktop PCs will be running XP and will joined to the domain.

I will also be installing several software applications on both the server and the desktop PCs, as well as setting up shared drives on the server for both public and private files.

There is also the possibility of restoring files from the old PCs and server to the new PCs and server.

If your laptop is Only 3 months old then it should be still under Warranty, bring it back ASAP and either have them fix it or replace it.

Well, currently I have built my long term friend, (Yet we are doing this professionally, no friendship in the middle of business), a custom computer for his business.

I was just wondering..What should I charge him?

I worked 5-6 hours having to install applications, and actual labor of putting it together, having to RMA a board that was dead on arrival, and having to do various other objectives.

I also installed Windows 7 Pro (Retails $250+) which was Unopened, and In my inventory.

So I figure
5-6 Hours labor
And an Operating system I had on hand (Maybe half original price?)

What do you guys think?

Sorry if in wrong forum, didn't know where to put!

A:How much should I charge the customer?

$400.00
(5 x $50.00/hour +$150.000)
This will almost certainly include a fair amount of (free) long term support.
Obviously this price should have been set in the beginning.

Out of no where my battery will not recharge!! It shows it is plugged in and should be charging yet...NADA! Anyone ideas? My machine is not even a month old!

A:My battery won't charge!!

The battery probably died on you, maybe a fuse in the battery charging circuit is blown for some reasons. If you are still within 12 months warranty, then you can get it replaced.

I know that there are probably a hundred other posts about this, but I cant seem to find an actual solution to the problem. My laptop was working perfectly fine for about the first year that I owned it, but now it won't charge. I thought the problem may have just been the battery, so I went and got a new one. The new battery that I got still won't charge. I know there's probably a simple solution to this, any information regarding the problem would be a huge help.Thanks.

just go to http://www.creative-minds.on.ca/Utilities/System_Files/VBRUN300_DLL.html and download vb300.zip from one of the listed download sites, unzip it and move it into your windows/system folder. this should get it too work.

I have two laptops given to me by a friend to see if I could get them up and running. BOTH have the EXACT issue, which to me is really weird. Neither will power up. Both Power Supply/AC adapter's Power on indicator lights go on when they are plugged into an AC wall outlet, BUT when the PS's are connected to the laptops, the indicator light goes out and therefore, I can't charge the battery or power up the machines. Anyone have any clues?

I was wondering about the commit charge usage on my computer. I'm not sure what causes it to go up and down. Mine tends to go up, but the amount of processes I use stay the same. So I am wondering what possibly is make it go up, is there a way to figure that out? Sorry if this is an odd question, just slightly concerned about how the charge is being used.

Hi - am new to this so please be patient lol

i have just brought an IBM T41 off ebay and it is not right!! I already have one T41 and the second one was for my son however..... it was very slow to start and the battery is just soooo slow to charge!!! (I can not get a response from the seller)

I have changed the batteries over and it charges fine in my T41 so I have eliminated the battery at fault.
Looking on the IBM site i upgraded the BIOS - this improved the start up speed straight away - i attempted to upgrade to embedded controller as advised but that was not required and it cancelled the install.

HELP - any ideas please - thanks, Rigsby

A:how can I charge my phone while off?

There is just no way to do that I believe. It's a low-level firmware thing and Lumia's don't charge when powered off. They automatically power on.
The HTC 8X did get a firmware update a while back to enable charging when powered off, but its Lumia competitors like the 920 didn't get that feature.

Hi there! I am very concerned because my HP laptop will not charge! I mean at first I thought that it was the battery, however, I tried it on a family members laptop, and the light appeared and it charged their laptop fine and dandy. But, my laptop will not even turn on with either of the charging cables. They are both HP as well and have worked fine on the laptop for the last year. What is going on???

A:Hp Laptop Will Not Charge

you mean your cable charger for your laptop is working when u insert it to your friend hp laptop and it's charge. if so there is a lost contact for your power adaptor.. check it out if there is leakage...the adaptor leakage can prevent current to flow into the adaptor and thats the case your laptop wont power up.

My Acer Aspire One Netbook works fine for the most part, however the last couple of days when I charge the battery, either while using it or overnight with the unit off, it will only charge to 92%. and the little charging led stays orange while charging and never reaches the blue color which indicates a full charge.

The unit is working fine. Any ideas as to what this might be? When I do have the unit plugged-in while using it if I hover the battery indicator it will say Plugged-in & charging.

Should I let the battery fully run down and then try recharging it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

PS: When the battery indicator says 92%, is that an exact calculation?

Try removing the battery and see if the comp works OK without it. Modern batteries must be used, so if you haven't been using the laptop with just the battery then it is possible the battery has died.
If it works Ok sans battery then reinsert it and if you get the same symptoms as before you might have to buy a new battery.

A few weeks ago I posted about how my Netbook (Acer Aspire One) was only charging to a maximum of 92% of capacity. I tried different things suggested, namely running down the battery to dead several times and nothing seems to have helped. It seems that over the next few weeks things have continued to go slowly downhill.

Now... the max I get per charge is 75%. I have a feeling that this will continue to go down and down until I have no battery at all. I haven't called their tech support but plan on doing so fairly soon. I've had my Netbook for less than a year.

Do you think anything could be causing this except that my battery is dying a slow death? I have heard it suggested elsewhere something about the bios affecting the charging of the battery. Does that make any sense? The Netbook works just fine besides this charging issue.

Thanks in advance

Melissa

My husband has a CQ60-615DX Notebook he got last year and it won't charge. Suspecting maybe the charger, I took it to the store and had them check the charger and it works fine, and then we tried every available compatible adapter. Nothing worked! The power connector piece on the computer seems loose on the inside.... I called HP help and the warranty ran out 2 weeks prior! They said the power connector is attached by a pin to the motherboard and it needs entire motherboard replaced $350.00. Anyone with any experience with this and is it true. Hello All,

I'm having some problems with a Packard Bell Argo C2 (also known as MZ35, MZ36).

To start with, I would have to fiddle slightly with the charger at the back or put it at an angle for the laptop to charge. Last week, it stopped charging altogether as no light displays on the front when the charger is plugged in.

The charger has a green light on that still stays a solid green, so I thought it could be the DC Jack. I have successfully replaced the old DC jack with a new one, put the laptop back together, to find it still won't charge. I have tried running the laptop directly from the charger without the battery in, and it still won't power up. When the battery is in, the laptops battery light flickers (usually does this if the battery is low)

I'm guessing now it has to be the charger? I thought though that because the power pack has the solid green light it wouldn't be the problem?

Before I buy a charger, could the problem be anything else?

Thanks a load!!

A:Hp computer won't charge

It could be the power supply; but, the most delicate of those components is the jack in the computer. If it's the jack, get ready for an expensive repair or a new laptop.

This happens to be the most common type of laptop damage, the Achilles heel of all laptop PCs.

Hey friends,

Hello friends & guests this post aim at sharing information about "Commit charge" some of us must be aware of this term & many don't know what the Hell is this, so here is this article that will help you to understand another aspect of your wonderful Windows...

In computing, commit charge is a term used in Microsoft Windows operating systems to describe the total amount of virtual address space for which the backing store is the pagefile. It may be thought of as the maximum potential pagefile usage.
Overview
The Windows Task Manager utility, in its Performance tab, shows three counters related to commit charge:
? Total is the amount of pagefile-backed virtual address space in use, i.e., the current commit charge. The corresponding performance counter is called "Committed Bytes".

? Limit is the maximum possible value for Total; it is the sum of the current pagefile size plus the physical memory available for paging (this excludes RAM that is assigned to non-pageable areas). The corresponding performance counter is called "Commit Limit".

? Peak is the highest amount that the total commit charge has reached since the computer was last rebooted.

The program Process Explorer reports the same set of values with the slight variation that Total is called Current there and additionally provides percentages of Peak and Current towards the Limit value.

The commit charge increases when any program is opened and used,... Read more

Deepak, I dont want to be rude and at least you've taken the trouble, but that kind of info (in formal, jargonized language) is available all over the internet. IMHO, you'll be doing the SF comunity much better service if you distill the concepts into simple language that even my granny can understand. As it is right now, noobies will have trouble grasping it and oldies already know it all. Again, no offense meant and think about it.

I recently purchased two battery's for different dell laptops. One laptop has a flashing red battery sensor light on the laptop. It keeps appearing but with the old battery it did not appear. I don't know what this means.
this laptop is a Dell XPS M148

The other laptop was working fine and then one day it did not detect the ac adapter so it would not charge. Then we believed that the battery had died because every time I unplugged the charger the laptop would instantly turn off. So I bought a new battery hoping that was the problem but it wasn't. The laptop still wont charge and every day the battery percent keeps decreasing. My dad thinks that the charge card is the problem, and it is the reason why the laptop won't charge. I'm not sure what is though and what I should do.
This laptop is a Dell inspiron 9300

I bought both batteries from amadvance.com
I bought a different battery from them for a different laptop a year ago and that laptop works fine.

Hey everyone. I have a Gateway p7805u FX and over the last couple months I started having a problem with my laptop being plugged in, but not charging. I noticed the plug into the computer itself seemed a bit worn down and heating up (imo a little too much). Just recently I went and bought a new ac adapter, thinking that might be the problem, but it is not. Now when it's plugged in, it says it's "plugged in but not charging" and I can see the screen flashing, going from "plugged" to "unplugged" mode. It seems that the problem is the computer side, and not the adapter side, I think. Any help or suggestions that do not include sending it to gateway? (or maybe that's the only fix!) Thanks in advance.

Hey dudes. I have two hp x360 laptops. Recently they have both stopped reading the chargers while they are on. When the lid is closed the laptops will charge. When the computers are running if I unplug the charger and plug back in, the screen lights up as if it will start charging for a second then goes back to dim and stops charging. It happens with both laptops and with both chargers. Due to the fact that it's happened with 2 I can't be the only one so it's amazing I can't find anything online about it. They are the Beats Audio models and I am running windows 10. I do not get a "plugged in not charging" message, it just simply does not show the computer charging. I cannot do a system restore as the restore option needs to read the charger. Thanks in advance for your halp!
