BitDefender Email Scanning Mechanism? Performance Issues w/ email Client

Q: BitDefender Email Scanning Mechanism? Performance Issues w/ email Client

My email client, desktop program PostBox (for Win) has been slowed since I installed BD TS2016 (I'm quite sure this is the reason as it was very fast before, and slowed immediately after...)

I also run WebRoot AV (which does not scan email as per their documentation) and HitmanAlertPro (which could also be affecting my email client, but I uninstalled it to test this somewhat small chance given its just an anti-exploit, and it doesn't seem to have affected it, the client is still slow).

1. I would LIKE BD to scan my email as of course having AV w/o scanning email could in many ways be pointless given email can be a deadly vector for heavy malware.

2. But I don't want my client to be slow. It's not horrible, and I suppose I could tolerate it (basically deleting messages, loading new messages, and the program responsiveness overall, is a bit sluggish compared with its normal instantaneous response)

3. Is there a way to configure email scanning differently? Or should the program NOT be slowing my client noticeably in general, and is this behavior indicative of something being wrong?

I'm sure BD users will be able to comment on whether it slows their email or not given they use a desktop client like Outlook, Postbox, Thunderbird, etc.

A: BitDefender Email Scanning Mechanism? Performance Issues w/ email Client

In the past I used BD TS exclusively with OutLook as my e-mail client and had no such issues, have you tried, or open to try switching clients to see if it's something about Postbox that BD TS disagrees with ?
do let us know what you discover either way.

Hello. I have Windows XP with AVG Free Edition installed. I have a router with a firewall and the Windows firewall. I do some P2P file downloads but am at least careful to check what file types I'm downloading (no exes or zips, etc). My computer is slow and sometimes hangs in explorer tasks (taskbar, system tray, windows explorer) but that may or may not be related.I wasn't that worried until my internet started to get WAAAY slow (6Mps/sec where it used to be 56) and then my AVG email scanner started telling me it was scanning something from (or to????) I have Outlook express installed but have never configured it. I use only web-based mail applications. Is it possible that something is running from or via my computer involving some kind of email trigger? I really don't know very much about this.... so I'm sorry if I've missed some obvious stuff.I scanned with Spybot S&D and a full AVG scan in safe mode. They came up with nothing except that kernel32.dll, user32.dll, shell32.dll and ntoskrnl.exe have a status of "change".... then I ran hijackthis (here's my log):Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 3:41:42 PM, on 03/09/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsa... I work for a small web design company that host our own clients. I am not a server tech but I have to make do. Recent problem has come up. We have several clients that are having sporadic issues connecting to their mailboxes on our server. They are ALL using some form of outlook (which I personally don't use so I am not real up on it). The error is as follows....The host '' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Account: 'Internet mail', Server: '', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

We are running a windows 2003 web edition server with IIS6 plesk 7.5.6 (reloaded) and MailEnable Standard 1.95 all leased form GoDaddy.

Anybody have any ideas? This is not constant. Is it possible that there is some type of DNS issue? Or a problem with the mail program? Help!

I am still using the Acer Aspire 1200 that is registered on my account. Windows Vista Business SP2, Athalon Dual Core 4400 + (2 CPU's) 2.3GHz, On 11/29 I ran DXDIAG if you need that I will send it.
Approximately, 11/22/2014 was the last time I had Windows mail on my computer. I did not check it on 11/23 so the first I noticed it was gone was 11/24. Over the same weekend I tried to run a virus scan using AVG free 2014 which I have never had a problem with in the past. It kept freezing my whole computer when it hit 60% and would be at C:Windows.old\Windows\System 32\ then various letters/numbers such as nvcod.dll, nvd3dum.dll, nvdisps.dll
About that time I had installed the AVG Secure Search so I wondered if it could have been that but I think I may have finally removed it but I am not sure.
On 11/24 I contacted AVG support and chatted. They sent me an email and asked me to run the AVG Virus Removal tool. I tried but after many hours of it scanning I ended up with a box that said "Failed to install the remover driver (Error code 0xC0000022)"
Microsoft word frequently shuts down and sometimes recovers the file and sometimes not.
Also get high CPU message frequently.
AVG wasn?t really able to help they think it?s an operating system problem, so I wondered what you might be able to do for me.

A:Windows email disappeared, AVG Free 2014 stops scanning at 60% and more issues

This sounds like you are infected with a virus that AVG cannot find or remove. We suggest you click on the link in my signature for Virus/Malware Help. Do these things in Safe Mode and create a new thread in that section of the forum and post those files there and not here, please.
When you update your computer from an older version of Windows to a newer version, or you reinstall, it creates a folder on the C: drive called C:\Windows.old. Your old Windows and all of it's programs and your user files are in this folder. This gives you enough time to recover any files you want such as pictures, music etc, and save them to your User profile on the New Windows. You also can look and reinstall any programs you wish if you have the download or install CD. Once you are safely restored and you have tested your files, and Programs, you can safely Delete the C:\Windows.old folder, then Empty the Recycle bin. This will restore a lot of disk space, also it looks like some files are infected in this folder.
Once you have Deleted C:\Windows.old, and Emptied the Recycle bin, While waiting for the Security team to respond, download Junkware Removal Tool. Run it, A DOS window appears. Press any key. It will start scanning automatically.
Now download ADWCleaner. Run it, Install it, Scan, leave everything checked. Clean. Both programs will show a text document when they are done showing you what it has removed.
Then download and run Temp File Cleaner Run it, it will shut do... Read more

Hello, I always use web-based email via the browser at home. I do not use an email client(well in the office we have Outlook). I'd like to use Thunderbird at home with a Gmail account that can be used by the kids. Now I am using Avira IS 2012 and would like to make it scan emails through it's mailguard component. I have seen Thunderbird work with Avast IS on my brother's pc but I see that for it to scan all emails the SSL/TSL should be deactivated. I was asking the tech guys at the office about email clients, digital certificates etc and they only remarked "google it" So I came here....Now my questiosn are: a. Is it safe to disable SSL/TSL in an email client? In the office we have that(with Norton Enterprise) and I see an indicator at the bottom of the email message that it was scanned by Norton. b. Can there be an application that can allow me to have SSL/TSL at the same time have Avira scan my emails...? I searched google and found out that in Avira it also has to be disabled to let it scan all emails. c. SSL/TSL is encryption right..? Does not using encryption in email okay..? I mean at home. I would highly recommend that you keep TLS/SSL enabled this makes sure that your password and user credentials are not sent in the clear.

if the AV needs to have this disabled then its not a good AV..

The ports are on the setup page for Gmail:

I use T-Bird (v 31.7.0) On 2 occasions now, I have sent emails, with Attachments, to a friend in the UK, who is running HOTMAIL.On each occasion the Attachment is OK, but the message I sent with ti increases it?s Font size, line by line, until it is unreadable. Two 3 or 4 characters per line??and sections of the email are repeated. 4 or 5 lines, then back to the top. They are blaming me for a Virus?..but I am thinking the problem is their end, with a stuck key, or similar. Any ideas ?

A:thunderbird email change font size in hotmail email client

I don't know what is causing this but pretty sure "what it isn't".1. It is not the usual behaviour of a virus.2. It is not a stuck key their end. Keys don't come into the equation for received emails.Try sending an attachment to yourself and some other contact who will co-operate. That way you should be able to narrow down which end is responisible for the problem.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Here is the problem: I have my email client (PocoMail) set as my default email client. It shows up as default client in the "Default Program section" in IE7.
When I click on a email link, whether it's in another program or on a website, my email client doesn't open the compose window with the address entered BUT IE7 starts and opens about 80 windows which need to be killed with Task Manager. By the way, this has nothing to do with PocoMail because it also happens when Thunderbird is set as default.

I am stumped. Any ideas?

Hidy ho all,

I wanted to set up an email client that acted a bit like my phone handles email. Downloads the new ones, lets me choose what to do with them (read them, delete them, mark them as special or something) but then simply uploads the instructions to the server without actually deleting them from the server. Is there an email client that does this?

My Email client, MSN Premium (not Hotmail) will not open to write an email when clicking on any website's button labeled "send us an email". Instead this action causes several instances (up to 5) of IE6 to invoke and then the Op Sys (WinME) hangs until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the erroneously opened IE tasks. I thought maybe it was that MSN mail was not my default email client so I used the proceedure to make MSN mail my default instead of OE6 but each time I returned to the options to see if it had changed it still says my default client is OE. Interestingly, if I envoke the MSN explorer and go to my MSN email inbox I can send and receive my email perfectly. This machine has been up and running since last October. I do not know if the problem has always existed or started more recently since I don't often click on "send us email" buttons.
I have three other machines similarly set up and none of them exhibit this problem.
WinMe, MSN Premium, and MSN messenger 6 all are up to date and current.
McAfee AV is on and up to date.
CounterSpy and Spybot are up to date and actively running.
Firefox 1.0.2 is my default browser

I tried looking at many articles from internet searches but found nothing telling where to find the folder holding the email messages for the email client.  My copy of portable Opera Mail is on a usb flash drive.  I have tried looking through the folders for the application but still do not know how to recognize any email messages.

A:Where on desktop is email for email client?

You do understand that downloading apps like this from most 3rd party sites poses all sorts of security risks, Remember this, That software while it was made by WhoEver has now been modified by somebody, How was it modified, Who did it, What else did they put in it? I may be wrong here however I also think may be against most software developers TOS to use modified software like this.
FYI only.
While Opera is free some sites and some people have used " the making of a app portable" on paid for software to bypass  having to pay for the software. I used to do just that a long time ago. I now know and understand why it is bad.
Making XXXXbytes premium into a portable application. While creating the portable you use a genuine key or "other" methods to activate Then compile it as portable with the activation in place, Now anybody with XXXXbytes portable has a free premium copy instead. That's software piracy. And Theft.

Hi, I'm having a problem with my email. I was clearing out my folders and notice an email in my junk file sent from myself to myself. Same email to and from. It was flagged as important and having read it, it is clearly spam. I checked Windows Live Mail and found a couple more of these emails that have been sent from me, to me.

I tried searching for this online but apart from some answers about email 'worms' I don't know what's caused it, if my account is at risk/should be deleted, or how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello I am trying to fix a computer running windows 8. A user had clicked on an email that contained a virus or some malware of some sort. The symptoms of the virus: Bitdefender custom settings are at basically disabled and trying to click them on isn't working as the setting is instantly reset back to not on in "custom settings" -- basically no antivirus ability, can't update in normal mode and can't get an internet connection (tyrannasourus icon in google chrome) in regular user mode. Here are some of the things I have already attempted to alleviate the problem (roughly in order): I got the computer into safe mode with networking (internet works, but bitdefender does not).I downloaded kaspersky tdsskiller and ran it to no avail.I downloaded and ran mbam also to no avail. At another point I attempted a system restore, a point well beyond the infection, the 2nd one. Still didn't work. I then tried bitdefenders rescue disk that I dl'd and burnt. Its graphics at the start were ok, then it went all messed up with errors and blurry graphics. It just didn't work... perhaps because it's 64-bit windows, as my 32 bit machine was fine using it. I then got more serious about backing up files and changed settings in the UEFI or the windows 8 bios to run a linux mint live CD to recover files.Files were copied to another computer in the event that the most drastic thing has to happen -- formatting/reinstalling/whatever.So the typical legacy, secure boot off, ... When I send a Email and then the "pop-up" comes up that states "scanning message" (10%.. 20%.. 30% and so on)... why, at times, the progress gets to 98 or 99% and hangs up at that point and doesn't complete the scan to 100%? If it never progresses to the 100%... am I correct to assume that it isn't sent? I hope I made my question clear. Thanks, 1stressedguy.

AVG free antivirus normally scans all in/out email messages and places a "virus free" msg text in the incoming ones after scanning them.

I have migrated to a brand new Compaq Presario SR5250NX with vista home premium and am running the latest versions of AVG free and Mozilla Thunderbird.

During email download via Thunderbird on my old win XP system, AVG placed a little progress pop up on the screen and placed the "virus free" text at the end of each incoming message.

On the new vista system, the little popup never shows nor do the "virus free" texts.

The AVG control panel states the "Email Scanner is fully functional" and the properties mentions a plugin/extension of AVG FREE ADDITION MS OUTLOOK EXTENSION being installed.

In the vista properties, Thunderbird is assigned all of the email duties.

It is as if Avg Free doesn't recognize the presence of Thunderbird on the machine.

Is anybody successfully getting Avg free to scan Thunderbird on Vista?

A:AVG AV not scanning email on Vista w/Thunderbird

I use AVG Internet Security rather than the free version, but IIRC you need to select an email 'profile' when you install AVG. (I'm sure you can add it later, too-and I'm not sure it's called a 'profile' but I remember that there were several choices, one being Outlook & another called 'Personal' or something like that. Wish I had AVG on this machine to check.)

For Thunderbird, you need to activate the 'Personal' email scanner profile in AVG. Also, make sure T-Bird is set to cooperate with AV programs. I forget where that setting is (don't have T-Bird on this PC either) but it tells T-Bird to store each message in a separate temp file so it can be scanned before adding it to the Inbox. Note that this doesn't affect the email scanner, it just prevents your entire Inbox from being quarantined if something should slip past the email scanner & later be recognized by the real-time scanner.

After upgrading to the AVG 8.0 paid version, incoming email scanning was clearly not working with Mozilla Thunderbird. This is despite the fact that the AVG security centre said that it was.

A trawl of internet forums led to what seems like the solution. I re-ran the initial AVG 8.0 downloaded installation file. This came up with a dialogue box where "Add or Remove Components" was an option. Having selected this, the next box contained a number of ticked options plus an unticked "Personal email scanner". I ticked this (leaving all other ticks as they were) and let the installation continue. Following a 'successful installation' message, the email scanner now seems to be working okay.

This operation installs a file called avgemc.exe which appears to be the key element. It also provides additional email options within AVG advanced options. I did not have to play with these for Thunderbird, but it appears that may be necessary for some other email programs.

I think it this is an unsatisfactory situation on a number of levels. Firstly AVG should not tell us that email scanning is working when if fact it is not. Secondly they should make installation of this file etc automatic because not everyone used Microsoft email facilities, even if they are the default on the PC. Thirdly, if for some reason this is not viable then AVG should publicise the possible need to install this component clearly and prominently in the upgrade instructions. Finally there sh... I was tinkering in Group Policy and noticed in Defender the option to have Defender scan emails.
I use Outlook so I enabled it.
I had no idea this was even an option with defender and MS does not make it obvious, that got me thinking that maybe MS thinks this should be off.
I am interested in the communities thoughts on this.
Should I turn it back off like I found it or leave it on.
Have any of you used this feature, and if so what was your experience ?

To change my email client do I click on control panel>default programs>associate a file type>mail to?

My current one is WLM but I don't know what happens when I click "Change program"!

Will I have a choice like Windows

**The reason I am asking is because if I click on 'set your default programs' as I usually do and highlight a program to set as default, no other mail is there - just WLM. I have Gmail, 2 Live accounts, Comcast account, and WLM all in my WLM desk account. I was hoping to make the application the email client but maybe it cannot be done.
I have not synchronized and do not know if it is necessary to get to appear on the default program page.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question or not but I have a new laptop with Windows 8 and there are those panes and one was for Mail. I selected it and it asked me to enter my username and password. I wasn't sure if it would work but I put in my hotmail information and it worked. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to back of out that and there are other people that use this laptop using the same login information. When you select the Mail pane, it automatically goes to my email inbox. Is there a way to reset it so there is no personal info again? I don't really know what I am doing but I do know I don't want a bunch of folks able to read my personal email. I have looked everywhere I know to look.

I would really appreciate any help you can provide.

I have a few email addresses from different companies that I have had for many years. I had no problem setting them up in Outlook Express, so whatever email address the person had that I gave them (anyone of three different ones), Outlook Express would open all of them.

Now I intend to buy a computer with Windows 7 and they do not use Outlook Express. I would like to keep these different email addresses and have the emails all open in the email client I choose to use.

I assume that Outlook would do this, but I really can afford it right now but will get it if I have to.

Any email program that will pull all these different email address in and open them?

Someone mentioned Windows Live 2011 - I haven't looked into this one, anyone familiar with it?

I currently us Outlook Express for my email client. I often times get email with lots of nice images, links and almost looks like a Web site but it's an email. I was told that I would need to use something other than Outlook Express to do this type of email.

2 questions:

1. Any suggestions of email clients that any of you use to do this type of emailing would be appreciated.

2. Can I use more than one email client (of course only one would be set as the default client), such as Outlook Express and some other client - then switch between the two?

Ms Outlook has no free versions. (former and is a webmail service by Microsoft. It has nothing to do with Microsoft Outlook email client and personal information manager, part of the Microsoft Office suite. If you want to use webmail, you have to sign up for an account.

You can use Microsoft Office Outlook client to read and send mail but they really have nothing else to do with each other.

The Script Blocking and the Full System Scan Tabs are shown as " Refreshing".
What does the Error indicate ? I use Outlook Express regularly. Will it harm my system ? How do I solve the problem? I have already re installed the program twice but it shows the same error everytime.

A:Email scanning errors in Norton Antivirus 2003

When you re-installed the program, did you uninstall it first? I have done some research and it seems to indicate that a full uninstall, reboot, reinstall may fix the problem. Do you have any other Norton products because you should uninstall and reinstall those too? If you had an old version of SystemWorks or Antivirus, you may need to use a removal tool from Symantec.

This article will tell you how to uninstall NAV (go to bottom section and follow steps under NSW since you installed this as part of Norton System Works): for windows 2000/me/98/xp&osv=&osv_lvl=

Hope this helps a little.

For some reason and I can't seem to fix this, everytime I open oulook and check email, the email scanning part of the software seems to hang on certain pop servers and I get a connection error. The only way to fix this is to stop it and restart outlook everytime. AVG tech support has told me to try a few things but nothing seems to work. Hello, I'm a newbie here but from browsing the site, this looks like a good place to find help with my problem.

A few days ago, I got whacked by "Antivirus 2010". Luckily I was able to get rid of it w/Malwarebytes and there does not seem to be a trace of it left on my system.

Unfortunately, after the attack I've run into a problem where images no longer appear in my email. This is not just an Outlook 03 problem. I've tried Thunderbird and Incredimail as well. All have the same issue. Just shows the red X for any images.

I'm running Vista Home Premium SP2 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop. and have tried all of the following w/out any luck:
Repairing Outlook

Uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook & Thunderbird

Removing the temp files for Outlook from the folder listed in the reg key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security)

Temporarily disabled Norton Internet Security

Checked all settings in all email clients related to security & images

Checked setting on my email host. My domain is set up thru Simplehost & the other two email addresses on the domain are not having any problems.

Uninstalled Malwarebytes after removing "Antivirus 2010"

I'm really at a loss here. It seems something got switched off in a security setting somewhere but I just can't seem to find it. I appreciate any help you can provide. If there's other information that will be helpful, let me know.

So I happily installed Windows 7 Pro on my laptop and desktop. I have used GMail for about two years now and its nice, but I'd like to utilize Outlook and Office and GMail doesn't interface well (AT ALL!) with Outlook.

What I'm looking for is a simple, clean, small, but reliable and safe email client to switch to from GMail. I'll still use GMail, probably, and can go back to it if I don't like it anymore.

I'm reluctant to get a Windows Live Mail account (what is the domain name, anyway? @msn, @live, or what?) since I don't want to install redundant (Windows Live Essentials) software on my computers.

What do people recommend? Someone suggested GMX, which seems okay, but if there's something in-house, meaning Microsoft, I think I'd prefer that.

Mozilla Thunderbird may work for you if you still have Outlook installed on the computer. According to a MozillaZine article, Thunderbird imports the PST file contents through calls to Outlook. The article also explains why you may find it difficult to find any program that can directly import a PST file's contents without using an installed copy of Outlook.

Currently I am using Thunderbird, previously I used WLM. As far as WLM is concerned, I disliked it from the word go. Thunderbird, on the other hand, I liked from the start excepting for the fact that it seems to take forever (by today's computer standards) to load.

My question is: Is there a happy medium? Something like Thunderbird that loads quickly? I did the usual googling and came up with a number of names to programs that promise you the moon and sixpence: each one is the best ever and will never be eclipsed, ya, ya!

So I ask the experts here what opinions they hold of the various email clients. I don't care if it is free or I have to pay for it as long as it works like TB but loads quickly.

Thanks in advance.

A:Searching for a new email client

I've been trying Thunderbird as I need a replacement for Outlook 2003, which has had Microsoft support dropped when they dropped Windows XP. I don't see any difference in speed between Outlook 2003 and Thunderbird. They both load equally fast.

At my work latley, we have encountered a problem. See my boss gets TONS of emails that he needs to keep for records, and apparently Outlook 2003 only can hold 2Gigs of information according to Microsoft tech support. Which is very stupid and pointless in my opinion.

I have used Thunderbird at home for some time now, but I'm not sure if it has a storage limit either, I would love to use Thunderbird over Outlook.

The problem we encountered with outlook in that my boss exceeded the 2Gig limit and all of his emails would not come through and he lost a lot of important information. We now regularly back up the emails, but he would like to store as many as he wants instead of moving them onto his hard drive. And it would be easier for me, when I go to bak it up since I won't have to look all around his hard drive. I could just drag and drop it from his Thunderbird onto our server.

So if anyone knows if Thunderbird has a limit please let me know.

- Thanks

I finally got a new laptop and have used the same disk for OUTLOOK 2000 as in my old computer, but I can't customize (ie color) and also my calendar imported completely messed up. In my old computer (and the same for the new one) I always had mega problems with 'Contacts'. Whenever I click on one, the display name would change so I would change in back, and then if I went to my email list, it would change again so I had to correct it again. Always back and forth. Also, I always have it on 'Detailed Address Cards" but often, for no reason at all some of them would not show the address until I clicked them open. Needless to say, I am getting fed up.

I did check out Thunderbird, but you cannot access a Hotmail or Yahoo account on it and I understand it does not have a calendar or detailed contacts.

So now dear gurus, would you suggest that I upgrade to the latest Outlook, or do you have any suggestions on something else that might be perfect ???!!!!

I would go with Outlook as it can handle multible e-mail accounts (I currently have 3 in my Outlook 2003). I also maintain a club e-mail list and Outlook handles that with ease.

As I have an older MS Office and Outlook, and can't afford the $$ for Office 2010, I recently installed Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird and Eudora. None of these came close to Outlook and dumped them all.

I am the IT guy (and I use the term loosely) for 2 very small business and a bunch of family members. I am looking for an alternative to Windows Live Mail 2012. Specifically, I am looking for an application that can sync email, contacts, and calendar across iphone, ipads, and 3 pc's per individual, sync needs to be automatic after initial set up.
To be clear:
"Tom" does not need his data synced with "Dicks" data. Just as long as all of "Toms" devises have the same email, contacts and calendar sync automaticly.

Right now I have about 11 people that i help out (employees and family) Windows Live Mail is working. We all use Hotmail (or some version there of.) and until now this has worked very well. I currently have a problem with my son's Hotmail account, as documented here:

From what i can understand. My son's Hotmail account was "upgraded" by Microsoft and no longer supports the Deltasync protocol that Windows Live Mail uses. I believe this is so the hotmail account can be used with Outlook 16, not sure. I have sent MS a help request but have not heard back from them. I found a work around that would allow email sync but nothing else. This is fine with a school age kid, but if this happened to me or one of my employees then i am going to have a pretty big problem. Hi, we have Optimum online as our ISP. They have an web based email service. We have Outlook as our email client. Most of the time, we only use Outlook for our emails. Occasionally, we send email using Optimum's webmail. When we retrieve email from Optimum, we only get the email from the inbox. The only way I can get the sent emails from Optimum is if I move the emails from the sent mail folder to the inbox. Is there anyway I can retrieve the Optimum sent email at the same time I am retrieving email from the Optimum inbox? Thanks.

A:retrieve sent email to client

I am not familiar with Optimum online. One possible suggestion would be to see if their web mail interface has an option to always send a copy back to the sender of all outgoing messages. If such an option is not available, you could have people manually include their address in the cc. line as they compose each message.

I work for an IT consulting company and I am at a client site at all times. I use Outlook 2007 for my client provided email address. Is there another email client that would allow me to use OWA to setup "my" companies email address? Basically I get tired of checking OWA all the time. Thanks in advance!

Using W7 Home Premium 64 with Thunderbird 3.0.3. Have several problems with Thunderbird using multiple IMAP accounts and sent folder problems that do no appear to have a resolution now or in the immediate future.
Both the email client that came with W7 and Thunderbird are overkill with far more options than I need like the personel, work, travel folder options.

Any basic fairly bug free email clients out there that will function with W7 64?

Hi there,

I have a Yahoo email address but use my Email client to download my Email's. Is there anyway i can get my Email client (Outlook 2007) to just download my inbox and not the yahoo junk mail folder too? Because at the moment I'm having to log into yahoo via the web then delete my spam folder and then open my email client to download my emails.

Hope this makes sense?

A:Yahoo via Email Client

Log into your Yahoo account with your web browser and check the POP Access / Bulk mail options.

[RANT]In spite of all the wonderful new features in Windows 7, the decision to exclude an email client has to be the most assenine ever. Because of this, I have gone back to Vista for now. If I wanted a third party email program, I would have done it already. If I wanted to use web based email, I would have switched years ago.

I did try the Windows Mail from Vista hack in seven and even though it let me send and receive emails it was not 100% functional. Besides, I should not have to hack a new OS to get feature that has been included in every version prior to this one.

I purchased four copies of Windows 7, installed on three computers, removed from 2, the remaining computer has office 2007 so seven will stay on it. I just hope this gets fixed in first service pack, if not this could be the end of the road for me and MS. Yes, it is that big of a deal breaker to me.[End RANT]

A:MS, I want an email client included in Win 7.

You can download the new Windows Live Mail very easily.

You can choose as many of the essential programs as you desire.

You need an upgraded email account from MSN:
If you are a subscriber to MSN Plus, MSN Premium, or MSN Hotmail Extra Storage, you can view messages from your POP e-mail accounts within MSN Hotmail. If you can't retrieve messages from your POP account, try the suggestions below.

I am using Outlook Express 6. But recently it has started acting funny. Even otherwise I am not too fond of it. I have tried Thunderbird, but didn't like it. I have heard many good things about The Bat but I am not too sure about it.

Please suggest a FREE / PAID email client. Follwing are the basic requirements.

1. I use multiple email accounts.
2. I format my mails by opening the source as OE has limited WYSIWYG capability.
3. It would be great if I can preview the headers and delete directly from server.
4. Ability to use Digital Signatures would be great.
5. I don't use MS Office. So spell-checker in OE doesn't work. So a spell checker would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

What email client would you most recommend for a senior who is new to computing and wants to send some basic email? I was figuring she'd probably just use Outlook Express since it's already on the computer and it's integrated with Windows, but although I haven't used it for awhile myself, I think it may be somewhat confusing for a new computer user. I was thinking maybe I could find some kind of theme for Thunderbird, but again, it may be somewhat confusing. I found FamilyMail, but it appears that their website is gone. Any suggestions? Free would be best.

A:Best Email Client For Seniors

Have you considered browser based webmail? Or is there a reason you you want a client? Possibly so that emails can be composed off line then sent? Just wondering what all the specific needs are, beyond the preference of free, to help refine the possibilities.

Trying to help my SIL. Have not had a chance to look for myself but here is what happened: she was trying to close an Excel spreadsheet and an IE 11 pop-up said it could not perform the operation because the default email client was not correctly installed. She clicked ok and shut down her PC. During shutdown, she got a message saying 47 programs had to be closed. After restart, she opened Excel and her changes had been saved so apparently everything worked ok despite the error message. I have no idea what the 47 open programs were. She does not have an email client on her PC as she does all of her email by logging onto her Verizon webmail account. She has Google Chrome set as her default browser. We had to do this because IE 11 will not communicate with Verizon for some unknown reason. Apparently this problem (IE 11/Verizon) is well known and discussed by both Verizon and MS. From what I have read, she will have to install an email client such as Win Live Mail and set that as default. However, what has changed that started this problem? Perhaps a recent Win 7 update? Also, do you think setting Chrome as default browser is causing the problem? Finally, what does IE 11 have to do with Excel? I am pretty sure she has MS Office 2010 Home and Student which does not have (I think) Outlook. Thanks.

I have been weaning myself away from my Outlook dependency. Especially for tasks, it was not doing what I needed.

Now, I would like to find a new email client. I like the performance that a desktop application has, but I would like to find something a litttle bit more pleasing than Outlook...

For example, when I was beta testing the Office 2010 suite, I was able to send messages to the developers, and when the message was sent, a piece of paper was created with the message, then folded up into an envelope and swished off the screen. I would like an email client that does these types of animations.

Is there anything out there to consider, besides Thunderbird? I also want something that has an easy way to back up the files and store emails in folders.

Thank you for any advice!

A:New, fabulous email client?

These are Thunderbird alternatives and similar softwares. Maybe one of them will helps you.

I'm currently using OE for mail, not thrilled with it. Using it for 6 hotmail accounts, 1 ISP based email, and about 5 NG servers (text only, use forte agent & newsbin for binaries). I do like the fact that you can easily change NG identities with OE, don't like that it shows a emailer's NAME instead of ADDRESS when you receive a message (most people have 2+ addresses, how you reply to "Sue Smith" may depend on WHERE the mail originated, her work or her personal mail etc. Since it just says "Sue Smith", you have to do a bunch of right clicking to find the ADDRESS). So what clients do people recommend?

Can someone please tell me what is the Windows 8 email client called?

I mean the same as Outlook Express NOT the full Outlook
Also how do I get to set up my email account in it?

All help much appreciated

A:Email client in Windows 8

I think that the Windows Store App (or, tile on the Modern UI) is simply called "Mail." Launch it, and if I remember correctly you bring up the Charms bar and click on Settings. Those Settings will be for the Mail app.

There is no built-in desktop email client.

I am in a need of an email client (outlook/thunderbird etc) with specific features,

I have several domain names and email accounts that take ages to administer - but if i use outlook / thunderbird I end up with a mailbox for every account - or the emails seems to not download from servers with the same mail address, and inadvertantly get lost! e.t.c

Like software that would allow me to specify many email account locations and usernames/passwords, let me apply various statuses and groups to them - in more of a central way than outlook will let me:

is similar to what i have in mind, but much larger and feature packed than I need for myself.
I dont mind if the software has to run as a server (i.e. using it as a localhost website).

I'd prefer not to run a mail server as i can't guarantee my computer will be on all the time (dont want to change the MX record but then loose mail when my connection is down). Is there another way to run a server that wont result in lost mail?

Does anyone have any suggestions,
Please ask if you need further response, I know i've waffled quite a bit,

EDIT: I might be getting to the point when a mail server is better - i would still like to be able to read my new emails when im not at home - so when i am at work i can still view any new or existing emails. So either using some web based software i can access through my dynamicDNS IP and have installed at h... Read more

I have Firefox and that's not the reason I'm here but is my browser. I can't open my email client, IncrediMail Pro for some reason. It has botten slower and slower for the past couple of weeks and now it won't open at all. I checked my firewall to see if ZA had changed anything and all is well there. I ran several spyware programs and all is well there as well. I use MailWashere Pro to filter incoming email but that's just a shortcut more or less, but it wouldn't open IncrediMail as usual and that's why I tried Incredimail direct-still no luck. Can anyone suggest what may be the problem? I've emailed IncrediMail using Outlook Express, but haven't gotten an answer-that was yesterday.

This question is what seems useful to ask after reading
Why or what is the advantage of using a separate email client software program, when webmail lets you do everything(?) that you would want without installing an email client on your computer.

A:Why a separate email client?

There are those of us that rather have the email on our computers and not stored on a server. There are times I want to read my email while off-line. Some people like to integrate their email into their calendar client as well. Those are just three things you can't do with webmail.I'm sure there are a lot more, that I either don't do or use. Or don't come to mind at the moment. Not dire, but what if the server is down when you want to look at an email you have read but need to refresh your memory. That has happened to me more than once in my email use career.

I have WLM on my Laptop, and I have just installed eM client as well.
MS is not supporting WLM soon and my swap from WLM to eM was hugely successful. However, although the transition on my Desktop was fine, and I managed to transfer all my Contacts, somehow that is not working on my Laptop. ( I CAN do these one by one, but I'm lazy and want to do it in one fell swoop!)
As stated, I DO have WLM still installed, mainly hoping to retrieve my Contacts from that, but to no avail.
I have followed the eM Client blog that shows how to "Import" files, but that does not seem to work on my Laptop.
THe email service is running fine on my Laptop.
The "Import from "Window Live Mail", then the options that follow do not work!
What am I doing wrong?

A:WLM Contacts to eM email client

Export your contacts from Live Mail to a .csv file and then import that with EM Mail is the easiest way to do that I would believe.
