Hello all!

My friend got a HP Mini 210 from Verizon, I believe a few years ago. It has a sim slot, but there isn't a sim card in it. I don't know if she took it out, or if she never needed one.

It is an HP Mini 210 running Windows 7 Starter.

Apparently she isn't using Verizon anymore, as she recently bought a T-Mobile hot spot instead. She can't get it to connect to the T-Mobile hot spot wifi, and I brought it home, and can't get it to connect to my home wifi either. Well actually it says "Connected" but "No Internet Access." Internet is fine and working well, so that is not the problem.

The Verizon connection is under Dial up and VPN(I think it is broadband), do I need to remove this connection to get the wifi to connect properly? It is not connected to the Verizon connection though. Is it possible that this laptop is "locked" to Verizon the way cell phones are?

The Troubleshooter says "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource. (primary DNS server)

This isn't my computer, so I am hesitant to do anything that I am not sure about. Any help would be awesome!

Thanks!

A:HP Mini from Verizon won't connect to wifi

They probably set a Proxy in the unit, either in Internet Explorer, or in the Registry. Yes, delete the Verizon connection in Internet Options, in the Connections tab. Check for a proxy in that same tab.

About a week ago, our cable internet connection went out. Before I had a chance to reboot the modem & router, my 11 year old decided to completely reset the router to factory settings! Ugh! This caused several issues: my home network is now gone, only a unsecured factory network is available. When I try to plug my laptop into the router via ethernet cord (in order to login to router and setup secure network) my computer will not recognize the router and won't connect to internet. I tried troubleshooting with my cable provider and they say it's in my computer (IP address will not reset) and he recommended I replace my network card. However, today when I brought my laptop to work, it will instantly recognize the wifi at work. So is it really my network card that is causing issues? Please help, I'm desperate and not tech too tech savvy!

I have a 600 g1 mini running Win10. I put in a combo wifi blue tooth module into the m.2 slot that is under the hard drive. Windows recognizes the module abs shows that both wifi and Bluetooth are working. When I try to connect to any device or a wireless router I get nothing, I'm assuming that there is no signal being broadcast or detected because I have no antenna connection. The parts list indicates that an antenna exists. Where is it? Thanks in advance.

bushwhacker, it is possible to upgrade with newer wifi mpci cards. I have one D600 as well and I tried many different cards. they all work as long as you find a driver. at the moment I run it with a Dell 1470 Dual Band card which worked ok with vista when I played around a bit with it.

um, does the ipaq rx5500 not have integrated wireless lan? i wasn't able to find the specs on the rx5500, but the normal 5500 does have integrated wireless as far as i can tell.

as for connecting a wireless dongle to a pda in general, no that will not work, because no wireless usb dongle manufacturer makes drivers for the windows mobile operating system.

your best bet is probably an SD card wireless lan adapter.

I have an Acer 11.6" Aspire One AO751H netbook. I want to upgrade the wireless-G to N. This model takes the half size mini pci-e cards. I just recently purchased the Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 card. Installed it yesterday, booted the computer, and so far so good. It recognized the card right away and the driver installation was successful. The wifi activity light works, the card is recognized, but it is unable to detect any networks. It just flashes that little balloon at the bottom saying "wireless networks unavailable". Try to refresh the network list, and i still get nothing. I tried turning the card off, then on again, but nothing. I checked on the driver in Device Manager, and it says it is functioning properly.

I have the most up-to-date BIOS and I am running 32-bit XP Pro (downgraded from the factory installed VISTA). I was wondering if maybe there was an issue with the antennas? The 5300 card has 3 antenna inputs, but the laptop only has two antennas. I was told on numerous forums that it would still function fine with only two antennas, however. I obtained the most up-to-date driver for the card right from intel's website and it installed without any issues at all. Does anyone have any input on to why this card seems to have installed fine, but cannot detect wireless networks? Should I try an older driver? I know many people have upgraded the wifi in this Aspire Ones, so I can't see it simply being incompatible.

Please find attached the screenshots that depicts my current setup of the driver installation

To illustrate what you see on the image... the case is as follows:
- I have installed the driver from the vendor provided on my XP box that includes utility software
- You can see the driver location on the top part of the image
- When I plug in the Mini USB WiFi Driver, it doesn't recognize the driver and on the Device Listing -> Other Devices -> 802.11n WLAN Adapter is shown with an exclamation mark

I tried right clicking and updating the driver giving the driver location... it fails

I also tried right clicking the driver and installing it. Yet no luck

I really appreciate some help to resolve this ...

I have a HP Notebook 15. I restarted my laptop this morning and when it came back on, all options for connecting to the internet via WiFi were gone. I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, and everything works this way. There are no options whatsoever to connect to WiFi or reset the connection or anything, however the WiFi itself is working because other devices in the house are connected to it. I followed a HP technical support online page, which provided step-by-step instructions of various ways to reconnect to WiFi but nothing worked. I tried restarting the computer, updating the driver software, making sure it wasn't in airplane mode, and troubleshooting. Nothing worked. What should I try next?

Okay, so my desktop is connected to the network by wifi to the wireless N (plus B and G) router. It connects to the internet fine and dandy. My iPhone can connect to the router, but drops the wifi signal most of the time. It doesn't seem to want to hold the connection because of either distance or interference from the wall or whatever.

What I want is to connect the iPhone's wifi to the computer for a stronger connection. But I don't want to move the router because it's centrally located and my office is kinda further away from it.

Equipment:
1 computer
1 802.11n wireless USB adapter connected to computer
1 802.11g wireless PCI adapter connected to computer
1 802.11n router connected to internet
1 iPhone with 802.11b/g connectivity
Is it possible to do this? I know what people have done it with one wired connection and a wireless connection from the computer. But can it be done with TWO wireless adapters connected to the computer?

Thanks in advance for any replies....

PS...I know it'd be easier to just use the computer to browse the internet since I'd be in the office anyway...but I work as a 3D modeler and alot of times I'm testing renders for scenes and such and can't stop the render without losing the progress. If I browse while it's rendering, it's possible I can crash the computer because of the heavy resources the 3D engine is already using.

A:Possible to connect iPhone's wifi to computer that is connected by wifi to the net?

Doesn't hurt (except maybe your time) to try. Get an ad-hoc wireless network working between computer and iPhone (using dynamic addressing). Then in Network Connections bridge the two wireless connections.

If it doesn't work, show the following for the computer before you bridge and when you have the bridge.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Hi there,

I have a new problem that has just cropped up today. I am no longer able to connect to public wifi or my phone's wireless hotspot. My laptop either will not connect or connect with limited access. It has connected without issue in the past and as soon as I returned home it connected to my wifi here.

What I did notice is I am connected to an unidentified network with no internet access in addition to my home wireless network:
Specs:
Acer Aspire S7 392
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260 (driver updated)
Disabled my firewall and antivirus

I just connected to my phone's hotspot again and here is what I am coming up with:
Attachment 57082

And when I run ipconfig/renew
Attachment 57083

Any ideas what could be causing this?

guys this one has me stumped cold. Dell Inspiron laptop, very clean software wise, had original mini-card [internal] which could not detect any wifi networks - known good wifi AP's. All the windows checked showed the device working properly but I finally replaced it with one of the better "n" cards out there. Same thing all over again. Put it right next to a working AP, cannot detect a thing. Antennae is hooked up properly.

If I plug a good WIFI stick into USB, it works immediately, no drama.

I have no idea what is preventing this from detecting anything. What should I be looking for?

A:WLAN Mini-card Good, but cannot detect WIFI ??

Hi zapp22,

It appears that the 'Wireless Card' is currently 'Disabled'; please check its status in 'BIOS' and 'enable' it if needed. To access 'BIOS' you may follow the steps listed below:
- Power off the laptop > Power it back on and at 'Dell splash screen', repeatedly tap 'F 2 key' (BIOS screen should appear) > Usually 'Dell Inspiron' laptops have a 'category' named 'Advanced' > Ensure that WLAN is enabled > 'Save Settings' and 'Exit'
(Note: BIOS setup may vary based on different laptop models)

If the wireless card still does not detect any networks in 'Windows', try tapping <Function><F2> or only <F2> if the previous key combination does not work. This is the 'radio control' for the 'Wireless Card' installed in the system.

Hope this helps. Do reply with the finding; would be glad to assist.

I'm trying to set up wifi on an HP mini 210 with windows 7 starter installed. I'm sharing internet via an iMac with airport (connected via ethernet.) My iMac settings appear to be correct (I can connect my iPod Touch and Kindle no problem.)
When I try to connect the HP my network name appears in the list of available wifi sources and lists all the details (WEP, 802.11n, SSID) but when I click 'connect' it says 'Windows was unable to connect' without requesting a password (and troubleshooting finds no problems.)

I've tried different settings (changing my network name, password, and from 40-bit {5 digit password} to 128-bit {13 digit password}) with no success. I've tried manually adding the network to the HP through the Network and sharing centre with no luck either.

Any suggestions?

Instead of using WEP which can be hacked easily, I would try changing your network security to WPA2.

Hi

My motherboard got a port called Mini PCIE. It looks similar to the standard PCIE port but is much smaller (I guess that's why it's called mini ) AND it appears to be tilted 90 degrees to the right if I'm right. So I would have to place the card vertically. Space seems to be limited. Of course I could be wrong on that.

Board type is MSI AM1i

Photo is below. The port in question is just next to the two SATA data ports. (actually on the left, in the second pictures)
I'd like to install a Wifi card there. Please tell me. How and where? Where am I supposed to place the antennas? Do you know any good cards? I didn't buy the card yet, only the motherboard

Thanks a lot

^^ The mini PCIE port is just above (again, next to the white-blue capacitors and left to the sata ports), and lies vertically in the picture with a number tag written to it

i'm upgrading the messy computer network at our clinic. here is a brief setup:
all Windows 7 32-bit ultimate and 2010 MAC mini as file sharing server
all computers have WIFI-n cards capability
FRONTDESK:
2 computers running critical scheduling SW.

at the moment they are connecting via WIFI, however, i would like to be able the setup X-cable link between them and utilize the network traffic for the scheduling application (shared database with R/W access by both computers)

The WIFI should be for occasional internet use and grabbing documents from the MAC server, most of the traffic will be local however.

Can i somehow configure the ethernet between these 2 desktops, 1Gbit speed and force the application to use that rather then the slower WIFI ?
THERAPISTS STATIONS:
4 laptops with WIFI

connecting to shared folders according to each therapist, storing all important documents remotely with R/W access.
Mostly MS WORD documents and some internet use.

* i still need to figure out how to configure MAC mine server with properly shared folders with correct permission as some have R/W access, some only R access
The main Q is Ethernet priority traffic over WIFI, if that's possible ?

Latitude E6520 running Windows 10. Was working fine and then 2 days ago the wifi dropped and won't go back on.

When I boot up, the wifi icon shows black and white with the little asterisk. I can click on it and see my network, and my neighbors, all showing up fine. However, after I click to try to join the network, it thinks for a bit and then says: Can't connect to this network. Even if I put in the wrong passcode I get the same error so it's never getting far enough to even validate that.

After I click Close to that, the Wifi icon then shows with a red/white x. I can then no longer see any wifi networks available at all. After a minute or so the red/white 'x' goes away and I can then try again but get the exact same results.

The network card that was in the laptop (DW1530) didn't technically have a Windows 10 driver from Dell so I took a card from a different laptop that is supported (DW1504) but it has the exact same results.

I also tried connecting to a different wifi and got the exact same results.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how I can fix it? My other laptops, phones, Fire TV stick, etc can all connect to the router just fine. The laptop was just reimaged a week or so ago and worked fine for a few days before this happened.

Thanks.

Hi All,

Win8:
I have two wifi APs in the home and I have it all set up so that one is the Internet by cell phone tether and the other is the cabled network via the router wifi.

Works just fine - except.

On wifi 1, Internet I have it set for "Connect automatically" which at boot up it does.

On wifi 2, Network I also have it set for "Connect automatically" which at boot up it does NOT do. I have to go in and connect manually even though the "Connect automatically" is checked.

It seems win8 sees "Connect automatically"and does it but then stops checking other connections. Probably a "feature."

Is there some way to force both "Connect automatically" to happen?

Thanks

A:Wifi Auto-Connect to two-wifi APs, problem

There is a group policy setting for this, but even if both are connected you will only be using one of those connections at a time.

I'm a new Plusnet customer and I cannot connect to the internet using wifi I just get a page saying the broadband is down. So I tried using an ethernet cable and after manually setting this up I can use the internet. I accidentally disconnected the cable yesterday but the internet didn't fault, it's now working wirelessly. I can connect to the wifi using my mobile and iPad but I cannot connect to the internet. A new router has been sent and the problem still persists, a bt engineer has also visited but cannot find a solution.

Can anybody please help me?

A:I can't connect to wifi but connect with an Ethernet cable works, even when it isn't plugged in

It gets confusing as to which device is being used so as a guideline
disable one or the other (wifi vs wired) and don't allow both to be active at the same time. Technically, which ever device gets an IP address from your router will become the gateway to your ISP - - ignoring the connectivity of the second device to access your router.

With a laptop, we just toggle the keyboard to enable/disable wifi and the wired is easy - - just pull the cable out.

create a desktop shortcut to \windows\system32\devmgmt.msc
to control the devices (needs admin access)
expand [+] network adapters and you'll see the list
mine are

Dell Wireless 1502 ....
Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Just right-click->disable and you can always right-click->enable

The png posted shows both are enabled and the wired has the gateway.
If the cable is disconnected, this is quite impossible.

SO, first control which device is to be used and then make the connection.

This is the idea, I have DVR for CCTV and I need to configure it for port forwarding, and since it has only LAN connection it is not possible to connect in pocket wifi, so i used to have a wireless router since it has a LAN connection. But I do not know how to do this connection as the wireless router to be a bridge in my pocket wifi to DVR, Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

A:How to connect pocket wifi to wireless router, to connect the dvr for cctv?

I'm not at all sure I understand. Are you trying to use the wireless router as a Wireless Bridge (to connect to the pocket wifi via wireless and the DVR via ethernet)? If so, does the router have wireless bridge (or AP Client) mode?

Windows XP (Something but I think Pro)
1 GB of Ram
No CD or any Removable Drive
HP (Yeah, I know, I tried to tell her but she bought it anyways.)

I am so embarrased for asking as I am A+ Certified for a few years ago with not one but two different A+ manuals sitting around, please help.

My question is - My girlfriend brought over her HP Mini 1000 laptop and asked nicely for me to fix her networking problem and after mocking her silently to myself for getting it I sat down and attempted to help her. Her problem is that with this laptop she can no longer connect to any network or even see how as the icon at the taskbar for connecting to a wireless network is now gone and doesn't appear.

As wireless networking is a completely new field to me but I have a little bit of experience, I am no means an expert. I do not know of any way to restore her network connection or even show her a way to connect to a network via a wireless connection.

Following the various things I have read online as well as here, I can answer the following questions.

1. All Hardware is Enabled without problems, I viewed the Device Manager and a network adapter is listed.

The Network Adapter is
Broadcom 802.1 b/g wlan
and it claims it is working properly

2. I did the IPCONFIG in CMD and it comes up with nothing. I have done this several times while configuring my WIRED network at home so I understand how it works and I should see stuff like an MEDIA STATE or CONNECTION-SPECIFIC DNS SUFFIX but on h... Read more

Just to start off, I am COMPLETELY clueless and have no tech savvy whatsoever, so simple language would be appreciated

I've owned this laptop for a little over a year, and all this time I've been able to connect to Wifi without a problem. This morning the icon at the bottom left of the screen told me there was no Internet connection available. when I troubleshot it, it suggested using the Ethernet cord to connect. The Ethernet cord connects them fine, and the internet connection becomes available, but I'm still unable to use the Wifi.

This is an issue with my laptop, because all the other devices in my house are able to connect to the Wifi, and the modem is showing all the appropriate lights and such. I've tried turning it off and on again, but alas, this once that method has failed :/ I've also tried resetting the modem, and it made no difference.

Last night I was uninstalling various programs that I didn't need, and that's the only thing I've done differently to my usual computing habits. I don't think I removed anything unless I knew what it was, but it's possible I accidently removed something important. I don't know if that has any relevance or not, but it's all I can think of as the reason for this.

My laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio, and the system I use is Windows 7.

My modem is Telstra Bigpond.

Please help! D:

How far from the router are you? I experience the same thing occasionally on my laptop.
I usually have to switch the wifi switch off on the laptop & on then I reboot & I'm back online. My laptop & tower are both about 50' away & on the lower floor where the router is. Good luck.

A:hp mini wont connect to the internet

HP mini only supports B and G but not N (I know I have one) are you using Win 7 or XP? Anyways, try this, remove all your wireless networks (advance wireless settings on XP or network and sharing center on win 7 or 8) then do a new scan and retry to connect to the new found router (if you can't connect) please verify the wireless setting in the router, please make sure the Network name is correct, you have the right wireless key, and that you router supports B and G, you may have to connect a Ethernet wire between the pc and the router and access the router by the gateway ip address to verify these settings.... If you don't know how to check this, then please ask

if this is not the case, you might be connecting to an open wireless network that might be far away and is appearing as unidentified

please verify all this and let me know

Thanks

Hello
I just bought a Compaq Mini that uses Windows 7. I'm attempting to connect to my router using wireless but I get an error saying "Possible network security key mismatch". I am using Verizon FiOS. I am certain I typed in the correct WEP key, because it's printed right on the router. My desktop also runs Windows 7, but uses a Netgear wireless USB adapter and works fine. I was also able to successfully connect to an unsecure wireless network and through ethernet with the netbook. After googling, I found someone suggesting disabling Internet Protocol Version 6, but the problem still persists, so I enabled it. Any help would be appreciated.

A:sony vaio mini wont connect

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver. For an integrated adapter get the driver from Sony's web site.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. And show for an attempted wireless connection and then for the ethernet + wireless ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following commands

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Hi, i have two questions.
first: i did not find the bletooth device in this laptop, but i read on the internet, that it should be available in this model.
second and more important issue is, that the laptot is not able to connect to any network via Wi-Fi nor via cable.
It was ok in the past, but now it seems to find the wireless SSID fine and connect to it with the encryption key but it has trouble acquiring an IP address.
I am trying all wi-fi networks available in my neighbourhood and hotspot which i made from my phone and nothing works. Also as i mentioned, the connection it is not working via cable.
I have used this laptot in past also in foreign countries, for example in Vietnam or Cannada and everything worked fine.
Operation system is genuine seller - installed. Win xp service pack 3 home edition.
All other devices, like mobile phone, other laptops are able to connect to my wi-fi. So i don't think there is a problem with my Wi-fi network.
Thanks a lot for your help.

A:Dell Inspiron mini 10 can not connect to internet

You should check your device manager to see what bluetooth you may have installed, and if there are any devices that may need driver updates or are unrecognized by the system.

As for the IP issue. There are many things that can contribute to this. If you have run adware removal recently, some programs can actually remove or reconfigure components essential for network operation. winsockfix is a common tool used to fix this. Ive gone through it myself (while working on a family member's computer who was experiencing similar issues).

You may also try uninstalling and then reinstalling your network card in the device manager. Some people suggest checking your password or removing saved passwords, but seeing as you have already tested multiple networks, the issue is not that.

I'm having the same problem as another user Baduga whose thread is copied below. I did download the driver version 5.60.48.31 for the Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN device which was released February 03, 2010. However, when I try to connect to a secured wireless network it seems to see the router, but just spins and spins with the message "acquiring network address" and it never actually connects.

Baduga, below, also had this problem once the drivers were updated. He reported the fix was by following the instructions on HP customer service page that flavallee linked earlier. It turns out my password was missing from the association page of the wireless network connection.

Can someone give that link again, and be explicit about what you have to do to get to the association page of the wireless network connection, and exactly which password needs to be entered there/

Hello, I am trying to connect a Dell Inspiron Mini to my home wireless network. It was working last week with no problems. The status icon shows that it is connected to the network and gives an IP address. However, when I try and view a webpage I get "The page cannot be displayed". I have tried to "Diagnose Connection Problem" and it says there are no issues.

I have tried the ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns, and ipconfic /renew and that spits out a new IP address but still no connection. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Dell Inspiron Mini will not connect to internet

Go to the Control Panel/Internet Connections. Right click your Local Area Connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP-IP) hit Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically is checked as well as Obtain a DNS Server Address Automatically. Browse to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc open the Hosts file with Notepad. Delete any lines after
127.0.0.1 localhost
Save the file. Do the ipconfig release, flushdns, and renew again.

Imagine that. On another board, it was a neighbor, and I closed that because you are violating the terms of service for the ISP. Now you're here, and suddenly it's a new story.

In any case, I'm closing this one too, since I really doubt the second story!

Hi All,
After much trawling on the net, i have finally given in and am seeking direct help.

When i choose the connection's icon from the task bar, to connect to wifi, the connection side bar appears for a brief instant and disappears. At the moment i can connect to the network in my home, since it is default, but anywhere else i cant choose a new network.

Same occurs when i try to display available networks from the network and sharing centre.

I made a workaround which is very cumbersome for a casual user.
1. command prompt, and listed and deleted the profiles, using the netsh wlan command
2. Network and sharing
3. Setup new connection or network
4. Manually connect to a wireless network
5. typed the credentials of the network, checked start this connection automatically box and apply (i needed to know the details for this).
Any answers as to why i cant' see the list of available networks, or an easier work around (or just see it briefly ) would be a help.

Cheers in advance.
Gerry.

I have just replaced the 802.11b Intel PRO 2100 wireless adapter in my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop computerwith an 802.11b/g Intell PRO 2200BG. I am confused about connecting the antenna cables to the new mini PCI board. Originally, the grey cable was connected to the Main connector and the black cable to the Aux connector. This is how Dell shipped the computer with the 2100. However, the Installation Guide for the new adapter (2200BG) indicates that the black cable should be connected to Main and the grey to Aux. How would I know which connection configuration is correct? Thanks.

P.S. I don't know if this is of any relevance, but the Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG adapter appears to be intended for HP computers. The drivers CD has HP on it and the Installation Guide is "Copyright 2004 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.". Is the antenna cable colour standardised among computer brand manufacturers?

Do you mean USB 2.0 (high speed USB) vs USB 1.1 (low speed)?

Look in Device Manager - Hardware.

Expand the Universal Bus Controllers tree and see if you have an "enhanced" controller.
If not, you only have USB 1.1 (and that is what I would suspect).

If you have a spare PCI slot, a USB 2.0 card would be worth considering.

Hope you are all doing good. From past few days I am not able to connect to any wireless networks on my laptop which is running windows 7 64-bit. I didn't change/install anything, it stopped working suddenly. I was able to connect to LAN and it's working perfectly fine. All other devices (phones and others computers) are able to connect to my Wi-Fi networks. I tried many things like re-installing my Wi-Fi adapter drivers, reset my router, clearing the Wi-Fi networks and adding them, many reboots, and few steps like clearing DNS and other settings as per the instructions on the Microsoft website. Can you please review and advise a good solution. Please let me know if you need any further info.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks,
Nikhil.

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum and wasn't 100% sure where to post this question but I decided to put it here as it seems to be where most people have had internet queries.

I'm a bit perplexed at the moment. For the last few days I've been trying to somehow fix my internet problem. I scoured other forums for similar questions and tried all the things they've said and still had no luck so I've run out of options and decided to set up this account and ask myself.

I have a virgin media super hub 2. Recently the ethernet cable wouldn't connect, I tried other ethernet cables to see if it was due to me breaking it and no luck. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not but at the same time I also wasn't able to connect to the 5ghz supplied by the router. So I'm left with 2.4ghz wireless at the moment. My friend also can't connect to the 5ghz on the router so it might be something to do with the router rather than my laptop but I'm not sure what would have caused it in the last few days (it's a new router/hub too, only about a month old).

I think generally you're supposed to post your ipconfig? Which I'll post if asked

I've tried flushing the DNS, ipconfig/renew, release etc. So i'm really stuck for ideas.

Hello all,

I changed my router access password and wireless WPA Pre-Shared key
today by logging in at 192.168.0.1

After that I realized that my wireless would still connect but it wouldn't load up webpages
quickly, or at all for that matter. I tried to troubleshoot just based on the things I know to do
e.g. flushdns, winsock fix, release/renew, wireless adapter properties changing the preferred and
alternate DNS servers, etc. When I still was able to connect to wireless, I ran troubleshooter.
It came back that it was properly configured by the DNS server was not responding.

I'm writing this post with my ethernet cable in my computer because wireless won't even
connect anymore. It says RCA on the physical router but when I login it says "Thomson".
Can someone help? Thanks.

This morning I went to go on to the internet and it says it can't connect to a network. I've never had this problem before so I clicked on the network and it said it couldn't detect any.

When i clicked on "diagnose the problem" it says "there are driver or hardware problems with the network adapter "dell wireless 1390 WLAN mini-card" on this computer.

I have a Dell Inspiron 640m

I can find the cord to hook it up to the internet with a wire (I can buy one if absolutely needed) and I do have the original software CD.

I not good with computers so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hi:Take a look at device manager, particularly the WLAN card.Any error indicators?
Let’s take a look at the status of the network adapters

Device manager:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
4. should be enabled and working properly.
5. If error code,what is it ?

It would be best if you could post a screen shot of Device Manager with the Network adapters and Other devices sections expanded.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Also.Go to the Dell site.Search the drivers available for your particular model by inputting the service tag # for your unit.Should be on a side or bottom tag along with model and serial #.This will make it a lot easier to determine the proper driver(s) to download/install

Also,let's see this:
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:

I currently use drivers from 2008:

Driver Version 4.176.75.21 - 10/1/2008

for my Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card.

Whenever I run Microsoft Update it tells me to upgrade to the latest drivers, however, with the newest drivers I experience a SIGNIFICANT drop in throughput- something like from 108 mbps with my current setup to 1-15 mbps with the "updated" drivers.

I'd like to have the most up to date driver, but do not want to limit my Wifi bandwidth either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated-- all my system info *should* be in my profile.

PS I'm a brand new user, so I apologize if this is not a well written post!

A:Updated Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Worse Connect

If the new driver causes problems and the old one works fine, best to just stick with the old driver. Typically you only need to update your drivers if you are experiencing problems or the new driver adds some functionality. Otherwise it is better to just leave well enough alone. If is listed as an important update, right-click the update and hide it.

If you are set on updating, you can try downloading the driver from the Dell website (link below) and uninstalling the old driver prior to installing the new driver. You can also look at the fixes and enhancements listed on the Dell site to determine if you really need it.

I am desperate. really really desperate, I don't know what to do anymore

I spent a lot of money on a new gaming pc and it has been a complete nightmare from the start. I have wireless network at home so I had to het a usb wifi adapter, the Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter.

Its setup cannot complete because it is stuck eternally at "detecting adapter"

I sought online but it's only people reporting the problem and NOBODY giving a solution. pleas pleeeaaaase somebody help.

A:Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter stuck detecting adapter

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

I usually use the internet in 3 locations on my laptop and till a few days back the laptop would connect fine to all 3 wifi networks. However, out of the blue my laptop stopped connecting to the wifi at location A and B, and still connects fine at location C. Other laptops and phones still connect fine to the wifi at location A and B, there's been no change in the software on my laptop since before the problem and I've run a system restore too to back when it was working, with no luck. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter driver, also cleared my saved network locations and tried to connect again. Any other suggestions?

It shows available networks, but when I try to connect it says "windows was unable to connect to network". I tried using Windows network diagnostics to try and fix it, but it didn't work. I also tried resetting my router and removing the password from my network, but those didn't work either.

I am able to connect with an Ethernet cord though.

Hi and welcome
Might be your wifi driver. type device manager in search. go to the networking tab, is your wifi device listed? does it have a yellow triangle over it? is there any other "unknown" devices with yellow triangles on them?

I have been able to use neighboring wifis that did not require a password and everything works fine, but when i use mine it refuses to let me connect. While using one of my electronics i have come to notice my wireless name is in the list of other users in my area. When I click on it, it shows that I am connected with a little check mark, but when going on to the internet it does not work. I don't know what the problem is and neighboring passwords are just not enough juice to keep me conected. Please help!

Can you connect the problem computer using ethernet? It will make posting responses easier.

This is that etaf asks for:

lets see an ipconfig /all and xirrus screen shot

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted

A:Can't connect to wifi

Hi Well the obvious thing to do is to change networks, channels or frequencies. You don't actually mention what network the machine doesn't like. But if we assume all networks are unavailable, and work from there. Is there a Wi-Fi card fitted? Type / Model / Manufacturer details listed here would be welcome. If YES then it should show in Device Manager. Does it? Without a Yellow warning triangle? Drivers installed / loaded? Evidence would be nice. A screenshot of the setup / connection screens you go thru may help to establish the hardware is there and functioning. Help us to help you. Moving on to things you can try ceeandbeetee.uk for further reading / troubleshooting. netfix.bat to help ID stuff and eliminate problems. Copy, Paste and Save As netfix.bat the code below using NotePad.

Hey the problem may be from your wifi router configuration,I guess. Try resetting the configuration. It may help you.As you mentioned in the post about your laptop. I don't think so the problem is the device's wifi driver. Please check your configuration.Still problem persists, kindly mail us to [email protected],DSSailendra

I have a laptop: HP pavillion dv7 and i can't connect to my wifi. It's not the first time it happens.

Previous time: Couldn't connect, formatted, couldnt connect, took it to a store, it worked there i arrived home and it was working.

This time: I had internet and i was playing Guild Wars 2, it lagged, the connection went down, cant connect to my wifi anymore.

Already tried to reset the router, rebooted the pc, clear all the networks memorized on the wifi list, and this:

"Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults: netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults: netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log"

that i saw on another post. Can anyone help?

Hi Perhaps resetting some of the Wi-Fi settings may help. If you can open a text editor like Notepad and copy and paste the text below into it and save it as netfixer.bat, somewhere easy to locate, like your documents folder. Then if you can click and run as adminstrator you will have some options, and I suggest choosing 4, 5, 7, D, E and finally F. You re-run and select other options, and edit if you so wish. :: NetFixer.bat, Copy, Paste and Save As:: using a text editor like Notepad.:: You can edit the file to your needs.:: EG-Removing the :: in front of:: ::ipconfig -all >>IPs.txt to create:: a text file called IPs.txt to study.:: Run as Administrator for best [email protected] THIS MIGHT HELP TO REPAIR/[email protected] SOME SIMPLE NETWORK [email protected]@ECHO THE RESULTS MAY VARY ACCORDING [email protected] YOUR CONFIGURATION AND USER [email protected] A RE-START SHOULD BE MADE [email protected] RUNNING SOME OF THE ABOVE [email protected]:[email protected] TYPE IN THE RELEVANT MENU [email protected]@[email protected] 0 - PING_LO Ping test to [email protected] 1 - PING_MS Ping test to [email protected] 2 - GET_MAC Obtain MAC address(es)@ECHO 3 - GET_IPs Lists all IP [email protected] 4 - IPvFOUR Reset to remove [email protected] 5 - IP_RNEW Force/Renew IP [email protected] 6 - IPv_SIX Reset to remove [email protected] 7 - NBTSTAT NETBIOS -Renew [email protected] 8 - NETSTAT All Network [email protected] 9 - SH_WLAN Di... A:help me connect to wifi!!

If you'd deleted something vital for network detection, your home wi-fi connection wouldn't work either so I don't think that's the issue.

Maybe there just aren't any networks in range when your laptop doesn't find any away from home?
