I bought 4 of these Pavilion 27xi for two work stations from Costco and am thinking I need to return them.  I am now experiencing a problem with one where after start up there is a 4" x 4" area where the montior is just blacked out. When I restart sometimes it will go away. It may take several restarts to do this. I have also just turned the monitor off and on a few times and then it will go away. These are all bought about the same time so I am thinking thet are all going to start dying on me like this?  I read thru the forums and someone posted that HP is not actually supporting win 10 with the drivers. I also had this problem with the monitor with win 7 pro before I  recently upgraded for free, hoping the win 10 would resolve the issue. If it were the OS then all four of these monitors would be having issues.  I also did a factory reset and that didn't help. After migrating to win 10, now all the task bar icons show up on both monitors for each work station which is better.  I checked and have the updated drivers for the monitors. When I searched HP site for resolutions it just said to restart your machine but didn't offer anything beyond that.  The funny thing of it is when the computer starts and restarts it will show the monitor lit up appropriately and then it will just then default to the blacked out area. It is like it is capable but something makes it just default with blacked out area. Then after a few off... Read more

Jimmy, welcome to the forum. The first thing that you will have to do is upgrade the power supply unit (PSU).  I suggest contacting StarTech's Tech Support for help.  They have USB video adapters that will allow you to add monitors to your computer.  I have used their Chat Live option several times with good success.  They will know which solutions will work best for your situation. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi. My computer is a desktop HP Pavilion 550-A17C with AMD Radeon R5 graphics (integrated). Can it support two monitors? I have done everything I can think of, including searching the internet for a number of hours for solutions. For the life of me I cannot get the computer to detect the second monitor when I have the two monitors connected. I connect the main monitor with a VGA cable, and the second with a DVI cable. The computer only has a VGA connector and a DVI connector. There are no HDMI ports  (serioulsly, and I bought this computer like three months ago, as a refurb.. Lol). What I want to do is extend the display. Is my hardware uncapable of driving two displays? Would a USB video adapter solve the problem?  Thanks

Hi, It does NOT have standard mount (VESA). You need a drill and a good skill to drill holes on it. I think you need to buy monitors which support VESA mounts or buy the following combinations:                http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=8525135 (Note: check  Hardware compatibilityHP Pavilion 22xw/cw, 23xw/cw, 24xw/cw, 25xw/cw, 27xw/cw).Regards.

NOW onto my question.

I need to connect four monitors for work related functions. Currently I have only been able to connect two. I cannot use surround view and I don't play games so I don't use intense graphics. I was wondering if adding two PCI cards will suffice?

what are my options, hopefully something cheap

A:How do I connect six monitors to this desktop ?

Something like this is what you'll need.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129184

From there you'd need the cables depending on what type of interface you're monitors support. This particular card comes with 4 mini display to display-port and 2 mini-display to DVI. So check monitor's connection options and buy cables accordingly. I can't seem to find a decent current specs sheet on you're PC, so I'm not sure if you're current PSU will be able to power this card.

I currently use three same AOC IPS 24" 1920x1080 screens plugged into one GPU AMD Sapphire R9 280x. It works well on resolution 5940x1080 (incl. bezel compensation). But now, I would like to upgrade my PC with more powerful GPU. I think that 3GPUs for 3 monitors should be the best solution, but in my current case with not the best cooling system and with my current PSU (1200W) is not a good idea. So is it possible to use only two (e.g. both same) GPUs for three (all same) monitors? In other words Are they able to works properly and in balance if physically one GPU will supply one monitor and the other one two monitors?
Many thanks for the advice

A:How to connect three monitors to two GPUs? Please help

A 1200 watt PSU would be fine for 3 GPU`s, but do you need 3 ?

You want to use all the same series GPU`s preferably all made by the same company with the same specs.

You should connect all your monitors to the top GPU.

Unless all 3 PCI Express slots can run all 3 cards at x8 speed, I would only get 2 cards.

I want to use an old plasma TV as a monitor purely to watch on demand TV and movies as the existing monitor is too small to do this. We were advised by a friend that we simply needed to buy a new graphics card with 2 ports but the computer does not have an aperture for a graphics card, just 2 PCS slots. We have since consulted a computer shop and they recommended a Dual PCS card that allows connection and use of 2 monitors at once.

We have run an internet search and are not sure what type to buy.

the PC is a Dell GX520 Optiplex

I'm thinking of buying Tecra Z50, but one of the features I need is the option to connect two external monitors.

Is it possible to have one monitor connected to HDMI and one to VGA (with notebook lid closed)?

*Hi-speed port replicator III is not an option since it is not available in my country (Croatia).

A:Tecra Z50 - need to connect two external monitors

Hi

I don?t think that you will be able to connect two external monitors to this notebook using the HDMI and RGB port simultaneously due to different kind of signal.

The RGB/VGA port supports analogue signal.

The HDMI port provides the digital video output and when the external monitor is connected to the HDMI port the display out device is set to HDMI.

> *Hi-speed port replicator III is not an option since it is not available in my country (Croatia).
How about the Dynadock? Its an external device connected to the notebook?s USB port.
It supports own graphic unit and you could connect another 2nd external monitor to such Dynadock.

No, as far as I know this isn’t possible.

You can use either the VGA or the HDMI video out port. But it’s not possible to use both video out ports simultaneously.

In this case you need some kind of external solution like Dynadock U3

Hello,

I'm new here, so I hope I put this thread in the correct location. I've been having an issue with my computer when I try to connect 2 external monitors to it; one via HDMI, and one via VGA. The ports are right next to each other on my laptop, so I ended up cutting the blue plastic protection layer so I could fit in it. Anyway, I can connect both monitors fine, but I can't seem to get the laptop monitor to stay on and working when I extend the displays. In other words, I have the laptop monitor and 2 external monitors which I'm trying to connect, and the laptop monitor doesn't connect when I connect the other two. When I push the windows key+p, I click on the extend option, but the laptop monitor doesn't extend, it only extends on the two externals. Now, I'm wondering if my graphics card only supports two monitors being on at a time, or if it's some random Windows 8 problem. I haven't thoroughly gone through some of

You answered your own question. Common Mobile graphic cards only support 2 displays any given time, be it internal+external or external+external.

Common low to mid-high NV or AMD cards do the same.

Only the new Haswell will support 3 monitors in the case of Intel.

EDIT: You could also try a USB to VGA adapter for the 3rd monitor.

Hello all!
I have one Sapphire HD 5770 and one Sapphire HD 6770.

I don't care about crossfire capability.

I have two Hanns-G 22" widescreens and one cheapy 17" I want to stick between them. Obviously they have different resolutions.

Can I connect them so the desktop is shown as one screen across the entire expanse?

I've tried connecting the 17" to the 6770, but all I get is a blank screen.

I don't know what I'm doing and need some help here. If it won't work I want to send the video card back to NewEgg.

TIA,
Richard

A:How to connect 3 monitors with 2 graphics card

I did a little research into this a while back and iirc all 3 monitors must be connected to 1 card, in my case it required 1 via hdmi,1 via dvi and 1 via the display port. The display port one required a display port to dvi adapter and it had to be an "active" adapter not a passive one.

Once those are all connected up it's then down to setting them all up how you want them, and yes you can have one desktop running across all screens

Cheers

Paul.

I purchased 2 HP 22er monitors along with an HP UltraSlim Docking Station. Much to my suprise (not understanding the ports like I should) the docking station only has 1 VGA port. I also purchased 2 HDMI cables prior to receiving all three items thinking this is how I would connect the two monitors to the dock but the dock doesn't have HDMI ports. So now I am all confused on how I connect the two monitors to the docking station? Any assistance would be appreciated. The second thing I was wondering is for the 2 HP 22er monitors is there a dual monitor stand that will work with these? I see that they do not have the configuration on the back to screw into any of the stands for sale. I feel like I made the worst choice in monitors get the set up I want.

Hi again,

performed a search and couldn't find this, but i am trying to connect a new second monitor via dvi d dual link cable, however i get an error message that ccc cannot support two monitors from different graphic engines, the other monitor is connected via hmdi.

i was under the impression that dvi d and hmdi would work together from the graphics card, but this appears not to be the case.
I can have them both running via hmdi/dvi i or dvi d and dvi i but not hmdi dvi d.

Is this right or am i missing something obvious?

Hello,

I am a construction estimator and need to add a second external monitor to my daily work setup.

Currently I use a laptop (2015 HP Envy) with an HDMI to one external monitor (27" AOC). I use the laptop screen for my email and internet viewing and I use the 27" monitor for my work software program (PlanSwift). I am running Windows 10 and I am using that "classic shell" program to make it look like Windows 7.

I want to still be able to use my external monitor for my work software program and my laptop screen for my email/internet. I'd like to get a second external monitor so I can keep a large spreadsheet open as well that is too big to view on my laptop screen.

My question is how do I do this? Treat me like I'm 5 please with your explanation. Do I just buy a monitor and connect it along with my other monitor through an HDMI splitter (does this exist) to my only hdmi laptop port? (I dont have a vga port)

Also I want a large second external monitor, 27" to 36" inches- my budget is $500. Can I buy a cheap 32" flatscreen tv and use this or do i need to buy an actual monitor?

Once I connect the two monitors I think I can trouble shoot my way through getting them to work or hopefully there is a guide I can google or that you can recommend.

Thank you very much for your help!

I have been dealing with this for a while now, and it just happened out of no where. I turned on my computer one morning and it wouldnt allow me to connect to my wifi. I have tried EVERYTHING. My computer does allow me to connect an ethernet cord to it and the router and use the internet that way. I know it's not the router because I use the internet on my iPhone and tablet. When I attempt to connect to internet it has a red X where the wireless icon used to be, now the icon looks like a computer screen instead the the little bars. When I tap my wireless button on my key pad a message comes up and notifies me that i just turned my wireless connection off, but no matter if it's off or on that little button always has the orange light on. I can't figure out whats going on and I would appreciate it so much if you could help me!!

I am at my wits' end here... I bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6091nr 6 weeks ago for college. As such, I am definitely in the market for reliable wifi! I try to connect to the wireless network at my home, and either of the 2 wifi networks at my university, and I can't make either one work reliably. I have been on the online chat support with HP at least 5 times and the problem is still unresolved, and I am sooooo frustrated! I have made new network profiles, uninstalled then reinstalled the drivers on the laptop, reinstalled them from the laptop, all that jazz. No dice. This problem has been occurring since I bought it, it is not a virus causing this problem.

When I make a new network profile for whatever network, it shows that the network exists, that I receive a signal, that my password (if necessary) is correct, but more often than not the laptop tells me "cannot connect to the network." a lot of times when I DO connect, I eventually lose connectivity or it claims it is still connected but the connection is so slow that no pages load anymore. By eventually I mean within a few minutes of connecting for the first time. I can only connect to the Internet on this laptop through an Ethernet cable, but I can move files to the laptop via USB.

Suggestions?

A:HP Pavilion suddenly can't connect to Wi-Fi

Hello @HappyPaul,I see that you're having an issue with the wireless and connecting to the internet. I will try to assist you with this. As you mention this just occurring and that Windows recently updated, I would recommend starting with a system restore to before the issue started. There is a possibility that something during the update caused the issue. If that doesn't help, try the following document: Troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 8).To go with the document you can go into device manager > network adapters > right click the wireless adapter > uninstall. Restart your notebook, on start up Windows will reinstall the driver. If at that point you have no success, make sure that you've done the step in that document hat has you reset power to the router/modem. Yes, the iPad connect, but this doesn't mean there isn't an issue between the notebook and the router. The iPad is a completely different device, how it interacts won't be the same (think of people, I will interact differently with someone then you would). This step, generally alleviates those conflicts. Try the above and let me know how this goes for you.Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

My Pavilion dv6 laptop communicates only intermittently with my Epson WF-2540 printer.  Sometimes it does, but more often it doesn't.  The problem appears to be with USB printing support, which has the yellow "problem" icon in the device manager. A fresh download of USB printing support doesn't work as it says the correct version is already there.   I suspect the problem is with Windows 10, which I downloaded a few months ago.  My laptop may not be fully compatible with Windows 10 as it was purchased in early 2012.  Any help will be appreciated--thank you!

Hello,So i use a projector (Epson SB03) to watch movies (I use my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC  for this) I use a HDMI adaptor to get a signal to the projector, and about a week ago it stopped connecting. The thing is, it works on my second laptop, so it can't be the projector; either the cable or the HDMI port on the pavillion. I want to see if anyone knows any fixes before i go to buy new cables and adapters etc. any help would be apreciated.thanks~Teje

Hi TejeIf you roll back the AMD Display Adapter driver to the previous version the HDMI output will work again. That's what I discovered when I could not access my Epson Projector. There must be a glitch in the new driver which was issued by AMD in March 2016. CheersWAR1

Hi, I think HP RC1762307/01 is an IR transmitter. You need an IR receiver on you laprop. To find an IR receiver to match with the HP RC1762307/01 could be a challenge because the receiver must know what are commands from the transmitter. My suggestion: buy a full new set (for your machine). My old (5 years) HP Pavilion desktop with Windows XP still boots and can print items that are on the computer but will not connect to the Internet.... When I check the programs on the HP the modem shows as being installed but will not connect ..... Any suggestions? Is a new modem difficult to install? Or too expensive to install on an old computer??

A:Old HP Pavilion desktop will not connect to Internet

Built in modems are usually for dial up over the phone line.
Are you using dialup internet service?
If not, your computer needs to be connected to your current
cable or DSL connection with a network cable to your router
or external modem.
If you connect that modem by USB you will probably have to install the driver software.

Hi,

I have an HP Pavilion TX-1000 Entertainment PC that is really frustrating me. It will not connect to my wireless router. I have had this laptop for at least 3 years and it connects to any other wireless connection I've ever tried ( at my sons with Cox, every airport, overseas, and with my previous Qwest
routers ). Since I moved and now have a Qwest PK5000Z router this laptop will not connect. The error message I get is " The network security key is incorrect ", but it's not of course. All other laptops I've used here connect successfully, Dell, Mac, Toshiba, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This can be obtained by going to the command prompt and entering ipconfig. You mentioned other PCs work fine. Are any of them also running Windows 7? Has the router's firmware been updated? A router firmware issue can cause some devices not to work properly while others do work fine.

It sound like the driver for the ethernet is not installed. Go to the device manager and see if there are any yellow or red exclamation points. Also if he is using the onboard lan be sure it is enabled in the BIOS. According to the specs of this PC you have an option of two different MoBo. Both take a realtek 8100 driver, Here is a link to try:

Ok i'm new to this site and dont really know alot about computers so I hope someone could help me in trying to figure out what is wrong with my laptop. Let me start by saying I have 2 computers, my Laptop (which wont connect to the internet, nor shut down or restart properly) and my regular computer (which I think is called a desktop). My regular computer works just fine but my laptop has not been working for about 3-4 months now. Since my other computer works I have not gotten around to fixing the laptop, but now that I need my laptop that has changed. Anyway whats wrong with my laptop is that I can't connect to the internet when I used to be able to. When I double click on the internet icon nothing happens. The little blue circle loads then goes away but nothing happens. Even if my internet was down there should still be a window opening up but there isn't. I also tried to reset Internet Explorer settings but aferward it says for changes to take affect you will need to restart your computer but I CAN'T. When I try to restart or shut down it just gets stuck on "Logging off" and stays on that screen forever. The only way I can turn off my laptop is by holding down the button for 3 seconds. Thats the problem, I can't restart or shut down and more importantly I can't connect to the internet. Please Help

At my home I use suddenlink internet, phone and cable. The modem I have relays my internet and phone service. I plug a Linksys wireless-G 2.4 GHz broadband router into the modem to make my internet wireless. Both my boyfriend and I are able to pick up the signal fine. My mothers internet will not pick up the signal. The wireless works because the little blue button stays on. There is just no wireless signals found. I have looked everywhere for an answer. The internet was working, then we had the power go off and now it will not connect. Her computer is an HP Pavilion dv5000 series, it runs windows xp. I know a little about computers so I have done all the basic things to try and fix it. Reset router, update drivers, disable reenable the wireless....I have done all of those things. I have had this problem once before, and the solution is simple...I JUST CANNOT REMEMBER! Please anyone who knows anything I would love advice on how to fix it. Oh when I plug her directly into the internet she runs fine. I don't think the actual wireless on her computer is the issue because it is staying on, it is something wrong with picking up the signals.

I hope this is in the right place.

Hi there. I currently own an HP Pavilion dv6647nr that dualboots Vista and Linux Mint. I've had it about seven months now. Never had any connection problems in Vista until about a month ago. I would try to go to a web page after having been browsing for a while and suddenly it would tell me there is a page load error. Same thing if I try to go to another site. For some reason I can still use Windows Live and AIM, but no web pages. If I restart it it is almost always okay again, but this has started becoming more frequent - one or two times per day. As far as I know, the other computers connecting through our router are still able to fully connect and use the internet.

I'm not the brightest when it comes to this stuff, so might it be a software problem? I can't think of anything else that has changed that recently, and maybe windows updates had something to do with it?

If anyone has any ideas, it would be helpful. I tried searching for this problem, but I kept getting a search error when I did.

Hey there @ahdr, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are trying to connect another display to your All-in-One computer. I am happy to give you a hand with this. Looking at the HP Pavilion 23-q106a TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications, the only available pure graphics port is the one HDMI connection. The other option would be to use a USB to ( DVI/VGA/HDMI) type of adapter which normally includes its own video adapter built in. Looking at the HP Pavilion w1907 Monitor - Product Specifications, you have two connection options for the display itself, either DVI or VGA. You could try a DVI to HDMI connection. Also, you can look at this document: HP Desktop PCs - Connecting Monitors and TVs to Your PC (Windows 10, 8).  Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hi! I just upgraded to Win8 this weekend and so far I really like it. I discovered something this morning that now that the weekend is over is bugging the crap out of me and I need help. I work from home and use this alot so it would be helpful.

I am trying to do a couple things I could easily do in 7,
- have Chrome open in both monitors at once with different things on them.
- currently Chrome has no minimize/maximize buttons on the upper right like it used to. Makes it very hard to multitask.

I have 2 monitors, the main is a 23" touch screen and the second is an 18" non-touch screen.

Also, is there a way to have the taskbar to appear at the bottom always like it used to?

Thanks! I really appreciate the help!

Answered my own question. Google Chrome was showing in App mode. When I downloaded Chrome for 8 there is an option to have it show in desktop mode and the taskbar, minimize/maximize, and multi window option came back. YAY.

Now if someone could tell me why windows 8 won't fill the screen at the resolution recommended for my 23" monitor I'd be good!

What do you suggest? What is the scoop with the Flat Monitors he is driving me nuts with? How do LCD monitors measure up?
Please keep in mind that my main concern is his viewing of DVD's, Music Video Files (Mpeg) that he downloads & the zillion games he has. According to the specs on his Presario (Model 5BW130) ... he has an Intel Celeron T 667MHz 66MHz Bus Speed, 64 RAM (yes I will double that to 128 via Crucial.Com ASAP), GRAPHICS=Intergrated Direct AGP Graphics - 64 bit hardware accelerated 3D graphics, Maxium non-interlaced resolution of up to 1600x1200 (when supported by monitor).

If you require any additional information please advice!

Thank you in advance for your time & effort!

Having just upgraded from XP using the Nvidia dual monitor desktops for years, I was surprised to find Windows 7 has this feature in-built with the added bonus of slideshow desktop images C00L!
So beyond Win7 eye candy which is better, Does it come down to games running faster under the Nvidia dual desktops, what is the general preference here?

A:Is Nvidia dual monitors a poor cousin to Windows 7 dual monitors?..

afaik, there is no real performance difference, as all stuff is handled by the nvidia driver anyway.

And of course the more monitors the higher performance hit as there is more screen surface to work on (the same as increasing resolution).

Btw, the main pityfall of the multiple monitors is that the taskbar is only in the primary monitor, but there are a ton of good third party programs that can handle this, like Actual Multiple Monitors.

The sound on my notebook works fine until I connect it via HDMI to an HP Pavilion 24xw monitor.  Then the audio disappears.  If I disconnect it, the audio comes back. I have tried going to the 'Sound' section of the control panel.  There are two options:Speakers Realtek High Definition Audio HP 24xwThe default is Speakers Realtek.  When I use the test facility my notebook plays the test sound.  I have updated to the latest version of the driver. Can someone help with why when plugging in the monitor the audio disappears from my notebook? Thank you so much!

The situation:
-Person in one city#1 wants to remote to a computer in city#2.
-person is using a desktop and is remoting to one of two possible desktops
-desktops in city#2 are used to connect to a local cluster running CMG software. (powerful simulation software)
-user wants to be able to use both of his monitors for the remote desktop session (extended desktop).
-user has VNC (if needed)

Problem:
I don't want to have to plug in two monitors into each of the two desktops in order to get VNC to utilize both monitors on the users desktop. Is there a way to trick VNC into thinking that there are two monitors connected?

Other possible solutions? No, the user can't just connected directly to the cluster. Besides, the same issue would arise.

A:vnc with two monitors with out monitors hooked up

As far as I am aware, there is no way to "trick" software like that. What type of VNC are you using?

..........hello,

a simple question......will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?

help me obi-wan youre my only hope!!

A:will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?

Actually that's a hard question, generally its not possible to install another motherboard, sometimes it is. In this case one is an AMD platform and the other is an Intel platform, there could be tons of differences in mounting holes, physical design, clearance, connectors, heat dissipation requirements, cooling systems, etc. Laptops are not like desktops that use more standardized designs.

I have a Genuine Microsoft DVD for Windows 10. When I put the Bios in UEFI boot mode It does not boot from the DVD or if i use a USB bootable stick formatted using APT format. When I hit esc on boot and select the boot devices to boot from nothing is shown.  If  I let it just try to boot it give me a message that no bootable image on hard disk. It is a new hard.  When I put it in legacy support mode it will boot either the USB or the internal DVD, but I want to use UEFI and the new APT format for security. What device can you buy so this laptop  will boot something that is portable media on this bios ? It came with this format on the original hard drive with windows 7. Thanks,Buford HP Pavilion DV4-5113cl with INSYDE F39 bios from latest update

I have 3 Benq XL2720Z monitors for gaming. XL2720Z LED Gaming Monitor | BenQ 16:9 LED Gaming monitors

I would like to know if it's better to turn off all 3 monitors by pressing the power button on all the monitors when not in use for over 12 hours or just let my computer turn the display off which I currently have a way to do to it by pressing a certain key.

Personally I would prefer to just let my computer turn the display off since I only have to press 1 button on my keyboard rather than have to press 3 power buttons on the monitors which don't really work that well.

However my final choice goes down to which is better for the monitors themself. I don't want to end up damaging the monitors.

Anyone know which way is safer? I can't seem to find a clear answer.

A:Turn Monitors Display Off or Fully Turn Monitors Off?

Hi,
I got a UPS 1500 battery backup that has 1 plug that controls 3 others that makes the decision for me when the 1 plug is using no power or the machine is powered off

Prior I just used the button on the monitor seems more reliable than counting on a feature to work before windows even boots.

My HP Pavilion 500-205t was destroyed by a lightning strike. The HD is o.k. I have purchased an HP Pavilion 500-490 because the specs were very close.  I  want to use my 205t HD. Both computers are Core i3-4130, have 1 TB 7200 SATA 6G 3.5 HDs, same OS (Windows 7 Pro 64). My question is:  can I swap them out, or do I need to get an external HD enclosure and copy the 205t to the 490? If I need the external HD enclosure, looks like aluminum would be best, but would like recommendation for one which would hold my HD.

I do not have the skill set to follow along with some of the threads on this subject at this site to rid this laptop off these HP Connect cloud things that I've read rope users into their basic service then end up charging people for the service.
This laptop is an HP Envy and it has a 1T HD. There is no need for cloud storage and besides which, my friend who now owns this laptop really can't afford to pay for those types of services anyway.
Supposedly I should be able to go to that start screen and right click on the associated icon to uninstall them from there. Didn't work. I was sent to add/remove programs and they're not listed there to uninstall.
I installed something called ZSoft uninstaller that was free hoping maybe they'd show up as programs there so I could uninstall them. They didn't appear as programs there either. I think I found them but don't quite know what to do with them. They're here- This PC> App Data> Roaming> Microsoft> Windows> Start Menu> Programs.
Would someone be in a position to talk me through getting rid of them for my friend? Please go easy on me, I'm not much more computer literate than my friend and don't know what most acronyms the members use here stand for other than the most obvious such as HP for Hewlett-Packard, OS for operating system, and PC for personal computer.

A:HP Connect Drive, Connect Music, Connect Photo- want them gone

It's possible these are Metro Apps. You can uninstall them using this guide. If  you do not see the app on the Metro UI page then search for it.

Just got off the phone with Verizon. They had me push the reset button and I was able to connect to the internet again. I mentioned how slow it takes for pages to load. She said if I have two firewalls running that can happen, then eventually it blocks your internet connection. I have the free Avira and am only using the Windows Firewall. She said the Verizon router has a firewall but it's a low security. So I went on the internet was able to get on some sites, but then others wouldn't connect again, said there is no internet connection. All the lights on the router are on. So far it's still working, but this is what happened before when I lost my connection completely.

I have Windows XP, tried it both on IE 8 and Firefox. The router is an Actiontec MI42WR. The problem was with both my desktop and laptop wired connections.

Have a USB wireless WiFi unit. To connect to the Internet. Have to disable the Local Area Connection. When connected to the Internet. If I enable the Local Area Connection. Unable to connect to the Internet. When I disable the LAC, the Internet connection is restablished. Using a D-Link boradband VPN router.

A:Wireless Network Connection will only connect to Internet if Lcl Area Connect disable

sounds about right! Your big issue will be the VPN, as it is frequently specifically
config'd to use a specific adaptor AND to force all tcp traffic thru that connection,
even though you want to do some trivial google.com search.

Consider using a Hardware Profile to define
1) a LAN connection environment (ie no WiFi)
2) a WiFi environment (w/o a LAN)

the choice occurs at boot time and the hardware is enabled/disabled per
the profile.
