Hi allTo get the best internal speaker sound out of your ThinkPad Yoga 14 or Yoga 460, you could refer to the P40 Sound Enhancement Thread, as they share the same set of sound card and speakers.

Hi Amy. We have a Yoga 2 Pro with the headset problem. It's a second computer so we can live without it for a time for the cause. The sound only plays through the headsets, when we take them out, nothing. We've been using a Bluetooth speaker as a work around.Let me know if you still need one. We're in SoCal.Best,Mari

A:Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

Bought Yoga 2 pro a week ago from Lenovo Web-site.Perfect device I thought. But now I have strange sound issue. I have no sound through integrated speakers. It perfectly works with connected headphones but when i plugged them out from jack looks like it still think they are connected. So if I have no headphones plugged I see message "You just plugged a device into the audio jack". But there are nothing plugged there. And sometimes (once in an hour or something like that) it shows message "You just unplugged a device..." and in a moment immediately again  "You just plugged a device into the audio jack". Tried to reinstall realtek drivers using one provided with laptom and also with the latest from Lenovo web-site.Tried to recovery system to its original state - the same problem.I have only one sound device showed on "Control panel -> Sound" window even switching to "Show disabled devices" and only one speaker in Realtek HD Manager also. Is anyone faced the same problem? Any idea how this can be fixed? Thanks

Hello,I've noticed that my Yoga 900 trackpads lower left part is "loose", and provides an odd 'click' just by touching it without pressing down on it, and when you press it down, it gives the "correct" click the computer registers. Is this normal, or do I need it to be repaired?  Anyway, thanks in advance!

Hi all

As one of my friends have just purchased a P40 Yoga, I am able to use her set to provide sound enhancement tweaks for P40. The tweaks is also optimal for Yoga 460 and Yoga 14 as it shares the same sound card and speakers as P40 Yoga. The tweaks would not be optimal for other laptops, external audio device due to variation of frequency response.
To tweak the sound:1. Go to Start > All Apps (All Programs) > Dolby > Dolby Audio

2. Click Personalize

3. There are only one type of preset provided for the internal speaker loudness as the P40 Yoga / Yoga 460 / Yoga 14 as the sound card does not have enough power to drive more bass and quality will decrease if all the EQ band is set to max.Optimal:?
You could (Preference)- Enable Dialogue Enhancer if you want more boost on the treble, but may sound sharp on some songs.- Enable Volume Leveler if you prefer more neutral sound signature, stronger mid, but overall volume drops a bit.I hope this benefits any P40 Yoga, Yoga 14 or Yoga 460 user who wish to have optimal sound experience from their internal speakers! Enjoy!

Hi Guys, I've recently bought a Yoga 700 (14"/i7) and noticed that both speakers crackle a lot. I've done some googling and can see it's a fairly common complaint among several yoga products. I've tried some of the fixes but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?  I've tried:Uninstalling and reinstalling the driverChanging the sampling rateLimiting the max CPU % I can't live with it so if it can't be fixed, I'll have to return it.  Cheers guys,George

When I connect a TV through HDMI the sound is not re-routed to the TV. The TV sound is also not appearing in the Playback Devices of the Sound  control panel in the bottom right corner. In order to make it worked I need to do the following :- Connect the HDMI cable and ensure the TV screen is displaying the laptop screen.- Put the Laptop on Sleep- Resume the laptop. in  90% of the case then the sound is re-routed to the tv but it is a bit of pain to do it every time. If it does not work I put the laptop to sleep again. Any idea how to make it worked all the time. It worked like a charm on my X1 1st generation. Thanks,Laurent

Since I've installed Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (20C0-S0AX00), I've never been able to get audio via HDMI working. In theory, it looks like it's all fine: ? In practice, however, no audio is transmitted via HDMI (I tried it with different monitors), and the video signal of any application trying to play audio over HDMI is stuttering ? as if it's trying to sync audio and video, but failing for some reason. As soon as the output device is changed, the video plays smoothly again. Changing the "Default Format" did not change anything. Currently, "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" is selected. A support ticket I opened quickly after upgrading to Windows 10 promised a driver update to fix this. A more recent ticket advised me to revert to the stock Windows 8.1 installation instead, which I refuse to do. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

A:ThinkPad Yoga S1 - No sound via HDMI on Windows 10

Hi

I have a different Thinkpad Yoga. Checking your issue I wonder if you would like to do some "trial and error" like:

1) Try a different HDMI cable, you never know.
2) Check the driver version of you Intel Display Audio. Here it is mine:
?
3) Just in case check the Lenovo Support site for your model and try updating the Intel Video and Realtek drivers just in case.

This is only that cames to my mind right now.

Anyone got an issue with the keyboard? Sometimes when I type using the keyboard, it make a sound, coming from the speaker. I have no idea what happen. The keyboard function as normal, apart from making random noise through the speaker somehow. And it happens for the alphabet buttons only. I tried to pinpoint what makes the noise and if certain buttons trigger it, but so far, looks like it is random and any button can trigger it.

Hi.I purchased x1 yoga about a week ago. Since the day after the first use, I have been having a problem with the left speaker which gives a crackling sound with higher than about 70 % of the volume. The volume where crackling starts varies depending on the source of the sound (talk show, music, whatever). I updated all the softwares and drivers with the latest versions on windows 10 and the problem doesn't seem to be resolved. Can somebody help me out with this?

The laptop is a brand new Thinkpad Yoga 260 It doesn't happen on the laptop display, but when watching a video on the HDMI port connected to the TV, white dots are displayed right before it loses sound and then the whole image goes black, then wait for like 30 seconds and the display is fine again.  The dots actually were green before I updated the graphics and bios.  Anyone seen something like this?

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, we got 2x Try-and-Buy Lenovo Yoga Tablet Laptops (an X1 Yoga and a Yoga 260) to evaluate their suitability for our company, since we intend to upgrade several of our employees laptops. However, ever since we got the devices we noticed on both of them frequent issues with the display and waking from sleep. Very often the laptops won't wake up properly with the screen staying black. In those cases the display-backlight seems to turn on, and I assume the system is running somehow in the background. Putting the computer to sleep again (e.g. by closing the lid) makes the computer wake up properly on the second attempt. Different error in the same category is when a video is running and the laptop is connected to AC - plugging out the AC cord made the screen go black while the media content's sound kept playing. All drivers were updated to the newest version via Lenovo System Update 5.07.0029. Any ideas? I also tried to open a support ticket, but Lenovo wanted to send and install a new display (!). Apparently, that seems like a driver/software issue?! Best regards

Good day.

The major differences I see, looking at: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Yoga_900_13_inch are: the SK2 has Intel Iris HD 540 graphics, slightly different CPUs and PCIe SSDs.

Regarding driver updates, there's a feature in Lenovo Companion that assists with that.

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Cheers all,

Problem is as stated in the thread; I downloaded, untar'd and set the theme up today. I know it's specifically the "Close Window" sound since it's unique from the others. I'm referring to the following actions in particular (there may be more things I could do to proc it, but I haven't checked yet)...
Opening a Program
Opening a Folder in Windows Explorer
Starting a new Windows Explorer Session
Closing a Window (expected function)
Closing a Windows Explorer Session (expected function)
Those not followed by (expected function) have a different sound assigned to them, although the Close Window sound plays anyways. Not always immediately after the action is performed, either - there can be anywhere from a 1 to 15 second delay before the .wav plays.

The sounds are located in C:\Windows\Media\AltimitOS\ with AltimitOS being a custom folder I copied in. I originally untar'd everything to the desktop, then created and moved everything into the folder and tried running the theme from there. I've made sure all file paths are leading to the \Media\AltimitOS folder.

Any help is appreciated. Cheers,
-Kalts.

Hi, I have just purchased a Yoga 500 notebook. The fan keeps running at full speeds even when ideal. I checked the CPU temperature in Lenovo settings and it is never more than 35 °C, memory in use less than 30%. The fan sometimes stops or works at lower levels sometimes for a very short while, but then starts swirling at full speeds again. It is quite annoying and disturbing. Is there a solution to this?

Hello all, apologies if the answer is already somewhere on this forum, but my search so far has been futile. I'm looking to upgrade an X1 Yoga's SSD (model, 20FRS). It is currently the 256GB Opal SSD, which I gather is a 2280 stick. The upgrade will be to a 1TB SSD, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820147595, once it is released. My question is whether the new Samsung 960 EVOs will be compatible with the X1 Yoga slot. Any help will be much appreciated! Many thanks.

Dear all,I hate my new acer laptop (worst keyboard ever made) and have narrowed my choice to the Lenovo Yoga X1. Your help in choosing options would be appreciated. I'd like to know if people thought it was worth it in terms of quality (ie scaling issues) and battery life to get the 1440p resolution versus the 1080p (the IPS version, not OLED) of 1440p. Is it worth it to get the OLED version if it can even be found (I can't even configure this on the web) I'd like to know if it is worth it to upgrade from the SATA to the NVMe hard drives in real life use I don't play games but mainly use web, citrix reciever, stock programs like thinkorswim thanks for your help Collin

Last night I was using the laptop and didn't notice the battery was almost dead. After it died I turned it back on and used it for a few more minutes, when it suddenly shut down with no warning. When I tried to turn it back on, the orange battery light flashed twice (with it plugged in). After a few more attempts, it now does nothing when I press the on button, no lights or anything. Same thing whether plugged in or not. Also, half the Torx screws appear to be stripped all of a sudden, so I can't remove the battery either. Help?

A:Yoga 3 Pro won't turn on

The situation seems "not great", but fixable.  I get machines that someone has already "fixed", so I see some messes.  There is no reset button.  You were doing what I would so, disconnect the main battery, but stripping the screw heads makes things difficult.  Usually, torx screws are hard to strip if you are careful and the driver fits, but it can happen.  I use a reverse-thread 2mm bit in a drill set to spin backwards.  (just as I would do if they were philips screws)   I drill slowly through the head and either the head starts to spin by itself, meaning it is no longer connected to the shaft, or, more likely, the whole screw spins out.  Obviously, the screws will need to be replaced.  You can use a normal philips 3mm or 3.5mm screw.  If some of the heads came off without the shafts, there should be enough to grab with a small pair of vice grips.

Hello all! I purchased a yoga 2 13 pro and the mobo went bad. After being told by support that the mobo is no longer available, I replaced it with the exact motherboard I found on ebay. Upgraded it to Windows 10 and upgraded the bios. The bios stated "Get EC part information fail". Did a product detection. It stated it was a yoga 2 pro.  What caused me to investigate is that the sensors  for rotation are not rotating the screen properly.  Is there anyway to fix this?

Having problems with my Yoga 2 pro. When asked to automatically find my laptop the message says "cannot identify". So I manually put in the mod and serial number then click on support and this message comes up "Error Code : 4fbfcb2595d54b9d3c9b368d0d93af5f"I am trying to put my computer back to factory standards and work from there but I am unable to figure out how to do it. Got to a place where it says if having trouble upgrading to win 10 click here. Upgrades are available but when I click on an upgrade it says my laptop is not qualified to be upgraded. One other thing, is my laptop capable of having a graphics card installed? If so which card would someone recommend.

I'm really interested in buying this machine, the 14" model in particular, but have two questions I desperately need help with and I can't find the information online! 1. This is a specific question, but could anyone please tell me the size of the SD Card slot?I'm hoping to actually get some sort of measurement in centimetres or something here. I know that sounds a bit odd, but perhaps it's possible if you stick a normal SD card in and measure how much went into the machine and how much stayed out? The reason I ask is because I know normal SD Cards will protrude quite a bit on this machine, however I've found these special, smaller adapters and I'm wondering if they would fit flush into the machine so the issue is negated. (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MacBook-MicroSD-Memory-Adapter-Apple/dp/B01I92PFG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1...) It's an odd request, but it is important and I'd really, really appreciate it. 2. Can the default role of the F1-F12 keys be changed? As far as I can tell,  they are used for shortcuts and if you want to actually use the F keys themselves, such as say Alt+F4 or F11, you also have to hold in Fn. This would drive me nuts! Can it be reversed so they function like normal F1-F12 keys? Perhaps in the BIOS? Thanks for reading and I really hope you can assist me!

No, it's not the only way. The Yoga 900 supports connections made to wireless displays as well. It should also support a USB to HDMI adaptor.

I've got a Lenovo USB 3.0 to DVI Adaptor, and that works fine with the Yoga 900.

After 2 months, checked mulitiple reviews and feedbacks, I bought the X1 yoga to replace my X230 (yeah?) Apperance-wise , I can't complain, really, this is exactly what I'm looking for. battery life ain't bad, with comfortable setting, I have roughly 9 hrs (OMG!) With/without external power, I ran the FFXIV benchmark, the score isn't bad as well. So why I start this post? because the SSD, somehow , I can feel the system is lagging because some whatever reason, and I use my laptop to do still image raw editing ... from the point import the files to the laptop, I can see the transfer rate is only about 60MB/s (at home my primary system, can do minimum 130~140MB/s, with same card reader attach to USB3.0) So what happened ? such great laptop came with a crappy SSD ? looked up online, this SSD with write speed up to 140MB/s ? WTH ? I thought 100~140MB/s are the speed for those aged 7.2k rpm traditional HDD ? Well, should I be glad I only order the 128GB module, because the built your own charge $300~400 for 500GB SSD upgrade, and I just bought one from Crucial , the MX200 500GB M.2 2280 cost $150 ? (and with 3 years warranty) I can't blame the whole laptop, but Lenovo should pick a better parts , especially storage is quite important as part of this laptop, isn't it ? thanks

Welcome to the forums!

In the past, if no cleaning compounds have worked, I've resorted to using a melamine pad and warm water to take it off the surface. As it is abrasive, you have to be aware that it's not recommended to do this often. However, if you have an oily layer built up, this'll take care of it!

Hi govwin ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to follow this basic trouble shooting guide for USB failure.
Else if an automatic update tried changing some settings aside from doing a system restore you can try to download this microsoft hotfix for this issue .

Hey guys, I need to buy a new laptop for college stuff and I am debating which to get, I only offered those 3 because other than them, there is only asus which offers basically the same laptop, without the touch for the same price. Here is a summery for the specs of the models I am looking at:Yoga 900:QHD+ 13.3 " display, either the newer model with 256 PCIE SSD, 540 intel GPU with 8GB of ram, upgradable to 16, and an I5 6260UOr the older model with 520 intel hd, normal 256 ssd, I7 6500U and 8GB soldered.Yoga 710:FHD 14" display, I7\I5 and 256\512 ssd with the new 940MX and 8 GB of ddr4 ram(I am still not sure which model I will pick as I can afford any considering it is cheaper than the yoga 900)I like that the Yoga 710 has a bigger display, though I am not sure how noticeable it will be considering it's 0.7" inches, also it has a much lower resolution.I don't plan on gaming or doing any heavy work on it other than surfing, watching movies and studying so I am not sure where the 940MX and drr4 will come into play. The yoga 900 brings ddr3 and intel graphics but a better screen, a PCIE SSD and an updated I5.My main debates are having a PCIE SSD and whether I should go for a higher res screen or a 14" screen with a little bit more juice, also the 900 has more usb ports and a usb C which is a nice plus.I would love to hear your opinions, thanks!(BTW, the price difference for me is about 250$ when considering the I5 variants)

I've had it for a bit under a month, and apart from an occasionally sketchy touchscreen for the first week or so, it's been perfect.  I have a crazy job where I'm in a different location at least every week, sometimes every day, and my duties vary from teaching to materials creation to curriculum development to programming to IT. Unfortunately, I got home last night, and it wouldn't turn on.  Fine; I figured that maybe the battery was dead.  Plugged it in, and still no joy, but hey, I figured maybe it wouldn't start until it hit a certain minimum charge level (a la many smartphones).  So I left it charging overnight, packed it when I went to work this morning, got here, and... it still won't start. Indicators/symptoms: The only I/O that appears to be working is the charge indicator (the small circular light next to the power button) and the power button light. If I plug in the power, the small circular light stays on (white) until I unplug it. Plugging in the power also sometimes causes the power light to turn on (again, white), and it will stay on (regardless of whether it's plugged in) until I force power-off via holding the power button. Nothing else works/responds.  The fans do not turn on, the caps lock light does not light up, the keyboard backlight can not be turned on.  Nothing.  As far as I can tell, the computer isn't even on -- only the power light.  I have tried every hotkey (and other key) on t... Hi,After an unsuccessful support call with Lenovo Ideaxxx technical support, they referred me to the Community. I have a new Yoga 710 in our environemtn that I need to PXE boot for our provisioning workflow.  WIth the Yoga 12 Thinkpads, we use the Lenovo USB-Ethernet adapter and it works fine.  The Yoga 710 doesn't see the USB-Ethernet adapter as a bootable option -- I've disabled secure boot, enabled legacy boot, and enabled PXE boot over LAN in the BIOS. If anyone is PXE booting a Yoga 710, what adapter are you using?   Thanks!

So i recieved my P40 Yoga a few days back. Installed Photoshop, Sketchbook and a few other painting softwares to test the capabilites. I was planning on using the P40 primarily for digital painting because I work as an illustrator. First issue:Touch and pen does not work together. In software like Photoshop this is extremly impractical. Like when you need to press a button in Photoshop with touch, you actually have to lift the pen off the screen before the touch reactivates. Would it not be possible to have touch available just for the left hand? And not for the right hand where you hold the pen. This may sound like a minor issue, but it gimps my workflow and especially the speed. Second issue:Painting and drawing with the pen works great, but in the mode where I rotate the screen almost 360 degrees, which is called the tablet mode, the pen cursor starts jumping all around. This happens only in this mode. Because of these issues I will most likely send the P40 back. Hopefully these issues are easy to fix, so I can avoid that. And ideas? Help is much appreciated!

A:P40 Yoga issues

Sorry to hear the pen/touch interface isn't working well for you.

Have you considered pressing buttons with the stylus itself rather than your left hand? Which buttons are you intending to push with a finger in PS while the pen is still in use?

The challenge for any tablet digitizer is allowing the user to keep their hand(s) on the screen while drawing/illustrating while knowing that a hand or finger shouldn't be registered. If tablets worked the way you were describing then there would be more chance for accidental, erroneous input from the user.

It's not impossible but certainly something I've never seen before, including Wacom products or any mobile tablet notebooks. If you know of one, please post a link as it would be good to see this in use.

No problem here --- yet that drive still isn't recognized by my Lenovo Bios. Second, I purchased a 512GB mSATA SSD, the Samsung PM841-512GB mSATA SSD, the exact model number listed in the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Hardware Maintance Manual (pdf), but this drive isn't recognized by my BIOS either, even though this drive also works fine inside my external mSATA SSD enclosure. Third, I installed a 128GB mSATA SSD into my Yoga 2 Pro and it's immediately recognized. When I switch back to the 256GB mSATA SSD that came with my Yoga 2 Pro, of course it's still recognized and works just fine. Product Name: Lenovo Yoga 2 ProBios Version: 76CN31WW (seems to be most current version)EC Version: 76EC25WW (why doesn't embedded controller version match BIOS version?)CPU: Intel(r) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPUSystem Memory: 8192MBHard Disk: Unrecognized (when I use 512GB or 1TB mSATA SSD)Windows License: STD I've isolated that it's not a bad SSD, and it's not a problem with the way the SSD is installed. The SSD is seated correctly each time. My same problem still remains. After hours of searching I can't find a definitive report that either a) it works! or b) specific reason why it doesn't work.&n... Hi lenovo forums I just got the 460 and installed a bunch of things on it like flash, blender, unity, ms office and so on. I now notice that if i try to use my pen in flash it simply gets stuck and won't let me draw. So I read up on it online which suggested updating drivers and flash. Well I've updated flash but that doesn't make any difference and so I go online to find drivers for the pen only to find that they don't seem to be there, can't find any on wacoms site and neither here on lenovos site, all I find related to the pen is a driver for the software that tells me the pen is running out of battery. So, do any of you know where I can find some updated drivers for the pen? The whole point of gettings this laptop kinda was that it had a pen...

My 2-month-old Yoga 3 just died. While running on battery (54%) it just went black. The on/off button does nothing and plugging it in does nothing (no lights, no nothing). I am in Zurich (bought the unit in New York). I suppose I am under warranty. Where do I go for repair or replacement?

Probably nothing you can do, but did you try one touch recovery? Hopefully someone here can give you some support info. In the US, ideapads are exclusively phone support, no web support offered.

Can yoga 900 be upgraded with nvme or ahci drive?  Or is it limited to sata?  If so, why 100 chipset should handle this.

A:Yoga 900 - SSD Upgrade

I put a Samsung Pro 950 SSD in my Yoga 900.  My system came with the NVMe SAMSUNG MZVLV256 drive as standard. Note this is a PCIe interface - very fast, but not compatible with a normal M.2 SATA interface.  Run "dxdiag" to confirm you have the NVMe type drive or not and buy accordingly.  You will also have to do a clean install if you get the NVMe drive because no one yet makes an external USB encolsure for the NVMe type, so you won't be able to do a simple clone.  And when you do a clean install, Windows will advise that it does not see a drive installed.  You will need to install some drivers first.  You can get them here: http://www.ramk.net/ It takes some time to get this done, but it works and the drive is very fast.
