Lenovo Ideapad 710s question

Q: Lenovo Ideapad 710s question

Hi I am thinking of purchasing a 13" Lenovo ideapad 710s ($1199 model) over a MacBook air. I have been using a macbook air for several years and recently thought of getting a new laptop. Lenovo's 710s seems to be quite good on paper (except the battery life), but I couldnt find any reviews online which can tell me if the laptop is as good as Lenovo projects it to be. If anyone has bought/used Lenovo 710s, can you guys chime in and let me know if this laptop came on par with your expectations (esp. the battery life)? Thanks

A: Lenovo Ideapad 710s question

hi. Here I leave you computer manual so you can compare, the battery is a consumable device that usually lasts depending on the use that will give the team being new can last an average of 3 hours, you should know that each load you do it is that you take away useful life. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Z-Base-de-conocimientos/Optimizando-el-tiempo-de-duraci%C3%B3n-de-la-ba... Other than online retailers, where can I buy the Lenovo 710s in person in the US? I want to take a look at the laptop and see feel it before I buy it. I live in small town so there's that.

I just bought Lenovo Ideapad 710s last week, 5th June 2016 to be exact.I noticed that after I shut down the laptop, eventhough the screen is off, the USB-wired mouse is still lited. There's no light on the keyboards, nor the power signal light. What could be the problem here?

Dear Lenovo Community, I've just bought my Lenovo Ideapad 710S two days ago. Bought the highest-end configuration with 16GB RAM + 512GB PCIE SSD. I got to say I'm absolutely in love with the form factor and its performance. I decided upon this laptop mainly because of its portability and the combination of 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD at less than $2k. DesignAt 1.1kg, it is really light - I can hold in up effortlessly with one arm. At home, I use a Dell monitor (U2715H) which is almost borderless; looking at 710S's edge, it is equally slim and is key to making it look stylish. The matte screen display has very crisp, clear text and is very comfortable to look at. PerformancePerformance wise, there is no complain. It lives up to what it's spec-ed on paper. Every application and operation (e.g. startup, shutdown, boot from sleep) loads at breakneck speeds thanks to its PCIE SSD. I've yet to try running more intensive software e.g. the Adobe suite but at this rate, it looks promising thus far. AccuType KeyboardAt first, I thought the flat keys have really little travel to bottom-out but as I spend more time typing on it, I gradually grew to like the keyboard. It's well spaced-out, typing on it can be very accurate. Key travel is reasonable for faster typists. Only thing is the placement of backspace, enter and shift button at the right side needs some extra time to get used to it as I find they placed more to the right than it is on comm... Read more

Hello everyone, I've recently bought a brand new ideapad 710s and I'm having some issues with it. The problem is that the laptop's fan is making loud noises and it is heating up real fast even though I don't play games or use softwares that might pressure the laptop. Basiscally, I use it for microsoft office and internet surfing. Did anyone have the same problem? How could I solve this issue? Any help will be appreciated.

Today, I updated my Realtek Audio Driver to version 6.0.1.7831 (dated 7/21/2016). After installation, I immediately realized that the taskbar icon changed from Dolby to Realtek default icon:? -> ? Next, I went to Programs and Features and found out that "Dolby Audio X2 Windows APP" disappeared from the list. Originally, both of these Dolby programs came with the laptop:? After the update, I was only left with this:? The impact of this is that I can no longer toggle the different sound features provided by the Dolby App. I contacted Lenovo via online chat support but the personnel insists Dolby is not a supported program by Lenovo without giving me a valid solution or answer. Did Lenovo omit Dolby App in the latest Audio Driver by mistake? Or did Lenovo intentionally removed it due to the vulnerability explained here: "Dolby Audio X2 (DAX2) privilege escalation" https://support.lenovo.com/sg/en/product_security/len_4884#/IdeaPad. If anybody is facing the same issue / has any solutions / answers, kindly leave a comment below. Hi - the current version of the ideapad 710s BIOS does not allow changing of the SATA/drive mode from RAID to AHCI. As a result, it is pretty much impossible to install Linux onto these systems. I've tried multiple combinations of things - completely wiped the drive, disabled UEFI, Secure Boot and enabled Legacy mode, etc - and nothing works.  The currently locked SATA mode basically prevents Linux from even seeing the SSD.  I've tried the latest versions of Ubuntu and Gentoo - both with the same result. Is there any reason why this setting is not exposed?  Are there any plans to expose it?

Got my laptop after almost 2 weeks of placing the order. Although the wait was worth it, just after third day I found a crack on the hinge. I was extremely cautious in handling the laptop, mind you, and i believe this weather was present since day 1. I know the crack is really small, but i'm afraid of the integrity of the hinge itself. Not sure if I could claim a return or exchange. http://goo.gl/6dsidu

I live in Toronto, Canada. I bought Lenovo Ideapad 710S (i5-6200 128GB SSD 8GB Ram) in August 2016. Used only 2 weeks, the laptop couldn't recognized the hard drive. It was sent to MIAD (local Lenovo certified repair center) and diagnosed as hard drive dysfunction. The technician told me since it is a "consumer" laptop (vs. business laptop such as ThinkPad), they don't have the part to repair/replace. I waited 4 weeks until the new hard drive arrive and the laptop was still not working. MIAD told me it was not hard drive problem and beyond their ability to repair. The laptop was later sent to Lenovo repair center (US).A week later I got a notice from Lenovo said the laptop had arrived but the part they need is in back order.5 weeks later still no sign of getting the problem fixed. Contacted Lenovo and get the same answer. Only compensate so far is extension of my warranty for 2 months. However, no compensation about the usability. For about 10 weeks, I have to use my old Pentium M Thinkpad. If I bought a new laptop, it might already arrived! Conclusion: Don't buy Lenovo "consumer" laptop (Ideapad, Yoga etc), at least in Canada.

Hello lenovo community.

I just got my new Lenovo Ideapad 710s-13sk yesterday.

I've used it for 2 days now, and it seems that the 2 finger scroll up and down triggers the 3 finger function from time to time?

So when i want to scroll, sometimes the task view shows up or everything minimizes depending on what direction i scroll of course.

Have anybody else experienced this and found a solution for it?

Best Regards,
Christian

Hello there!I'm planing to buy a new notebook, and found the 710s-13ISK (80SW003NGE) interesting. There are 5 different configurations of it, with different CPUs and memory amount. The cheapest one is the only one i could afford, and it has the weakest CPU i3-6100U, which is no issue at all, but this one has only 4GB of DDR3L. I'd still like to buy this one, but only if I'm able to upgrade the memory some day to 8GB, in case the 4GB are not enough for my usage scenarios. Unfortunately i cannot find any specific information, whether the mainboard has a RAM slot (so the 4GB could be replaced by bigger 8GB), or the memory is soldered directly on the mainboard (means not replaceable). Does anyone have this particular notebook, and could give me some information about this one? Many, many thanks in advance!

I am having difficulty removing the back panel. The hardware guide says "Remove rubber. Remove screws". There are 9 visible screws. The hardware guide shows 13. Some of the screws might be under the rubber. However, it provides no way to remove the rubber. It appears to be glued on so removing it will break the back panel. Has anyone removed the backpanel of their 710s? If so, did you need to remove the rubber and if you did can you provide hints on how to do it without breaking it?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Please check out the link below for the Lenovo Training Video for the 710s model.  What is shown in the video regarding the back cover removal is different than what the Hardware Maintenance Manual shows.  I believe the problem you are having is releasing the plastic clips that hold the cover in place after the screws are removed.    Here is that video course for your reference.....

I like my ideapad 710S-13isk except that I hate the Elan touchpad which really damages the whole experience. I am hoping it's a configuration issue--it is certainly a software rather than hardware problem, but I have not been able to find a way around it. Three (software) issues: 1) there appears to be no way to configure the ENTIRE touchpad to respond as a one-finger-left-click, two-fingers-right-click touchpad.  The software breaks up the touchpad into three different sections, and that is that.  So two fingers on the central area will right-click, or two fingers in the lower left corner will right-click, for example, but one finger in the lower right corner and one finger in the middle-right will NOT right-click.  This is a huge pain unless one makes a point of only using the top portion of the touchpad, which is ridiculous. 2) I am used to being able to select an item with one finger, and then stroke with another finger to move the item in preparation for dropping it. My other computers have worked that way.  This touchpad does not.  UPDATE:  this seems to be working now after updating to the latest drivers. 3) Tapping to click only works with one finger.  It'd be nice if it worked with two.  That is more complicated for the software since fingers never tap truly simultaneously, but other devices can figure it out. If anyone can help me with settings to correct these issues, I would be grateful. &n... Just received my new notebook and am extremely happy with it, execept for the battery indicator. The effective charge reamining, fluctuates by a wide margin, suddenly jumping from 4 hours remaining - to 3 hours - to 6 hours in a matter of minutes! The PC was left in idle state with no processing happening whatsoever. at 100% charge it shows 5 hours 6 mts of remaining time, as the charge drops to 97% after 5 mins of idle, the remaining time changes to 2 hrs 34 mins and at 94% charge after another 5 mins, it shows 7 hr 20 mins of remianing time! I called Lenovo service and after one hour of trying this and and that, they offered to replace the PC with a comment that battery takes 1 week to settle down and stabilise! I find that a bit out of the ordinary. My config is 710S, i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 10, with Lenovo optimiser loaded. (The battery gauge reset, suggested by service is missing in this version - the service staff themselves could not find it).  Is anyone else having similar issues?

So I'm planning on buying this model: Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK, but the one I'm looking to buy doesn't have an SSD and doesn't specify which ports are still available, only that it has a 1TB HDD. So I wanted to ask: 1. Does it have a free M.2 port? all models of the Y700-15ISK should have them, or am I wrong? 2. Which type of M.2 SSD does it support? M or B+M? I already sent the same questions to the retailer, but I am still waiting for an answer so thought I'd ask here as well.

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Hi and welcome

the probable cause of all three crashes is NETw5s64.sys, which is part of your Intel wifi driver;
I would update the driver

also run a system file check.
type cmd in

search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

Hello, As stated in the title, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad y580. I purchased it approximately three-and-a-half years ago, and only now is it really beginning to chug durings its processes. Point is, I want it to last perhaps another half year or so while I finish saving up for another computer. As a gamer, I'm fine with the limitations of the GPU, but sometimes my laptop legitimately has issues processing stuff, such as loading Google Chrome properly. I know enough about Windows to clean out viral matter and uninstall programs that I don't use that are running in the back. But does anyone have any tips or tricks to make this hunk of junk last maybe six more months before it becomes unusable?TL;DR I need to make my laptop run at least a reasonably sub-average to average level for six more months. Any tips are appreciated.

Hi My Lenovo Yoga 13 has stopped taking a charge. It happened about two days ago and has not charged since. I even took it to a local Best Buy and attempted to charge it with a different charger but no dice.I'm pretty sure I need to set up an RMA to send it in but I have been stuck on hold with Lenovo for 1 hour and 15 minutes now without any kind of response. I'm hoping someone on here can offer some assistance. It's difficult to post to this forum from my smartphone.

ok here s the problem.... I got a virus (Anti-vira antivirus, and Windows antivirus 2012) both probably the worst ones I can think of, I used Malwarebites to remove them. however now that they re gone I don't have access to half the system files I use to (namely the task manager, built in windows error scanner, and the "properties" page for My COmputer).

now normally this wouldn't be a problem as I can just use my External HD to backup all the files I want and reinstall windows, BUT this is where the real problem starts, Lenovo 1 touch recovery isn't working, and when I try to boot up from CD I get a error saying the CD drive isn't working. There are 4 options on the Boot up menu (the F12 menu when starting the comp)1 is for CD the other is normal boot and there are 2 others that I don't know the name of. is there any way to fix this laptop without paying 80$ for them just to reinstall windows vista?

and yes do have the boot disk, the Driver disk, and it is a legitimate Windows vista copy, I have not installed any "aditional" hardware exept for the External HD which is "plug and play"

almost forgot, the CD/DVD drive works fine, I was using it to burn some files after the viruses hit my laptop >_>

Hi,I am almost 90% interesed to buy a new Lenovo ideapad S210 20256, that comes with an Intel Celeron 1037U 1,8GHz, 2GB of RAM, 500GB HDD, 11inch screen. Mfg Date: 2014/03/24.I found an online manual (PDF), and based on that I assume I can upgrade the RAM to 8GB at MAX. Now my actual main concern is the GPU. I heard that the laptop comes with an Intel HD Graphics but found here at notebookcheck.net that the intel HD Graphics 2500 is also called Intel HD Graphics. Now I am a bit confused. At the Intel website it is said to be the Intel HD Graphics. So I would like if someone can confirm to me what is the GPU used? I appreciate any help.

A:Lenovo Ideapad S210 GPU?

The Intel HD Graphics is built in to the processor, so depending on the processor, it could be called Intel HD Graphics, or Intel HD Graphics 4000 grapdepending on which CPU your system comes with.     The Lower grade Celeron CPU having a lower grade Intel HD Graphics card and the I3 a bit better Intel HD Graphics 4000 as shown in the spec sheets. The Celeron equipped S210 with the Intel HD Graphics will perform a bit slower than the Core i3 equipped S210 model with the Intel HD Graphics 4000, but both should work well for casual computing and Internet browsing.     Neither 2-core CPUs or graphics card is great for power hungry video games, so if you are a gamer I would look for a different system altogether with a quad core CPU etc.    Lenovo S210 Touch Laptophttp://shop.lenovo.com/ae/en/laptops/lenovo/s-series/s210-touch/#tab-tech_specs Lenovo S210 Touch CPU/graphics specificatoins Intel Celeron Processor 1037U (2M Cache, 1.80 GHz)http://ark.intel.com/products/71995/Intel-Celeron-Processor-1037U-2M-Cache-1_80-GHz Intel Core? i3-3227U Processor (3M Cache, 1.90 GHz)http://ark.intel.com/products/72057/Intel-Core-i3-3227U-Processor-3M-Cache-1_90-GHz  Hope that helps

Hey I just want to know that is my laptop CPU is upgradable? My model is Lenovo Ideapad Y550 and the CPU is Intel core 2 duo T6600 2.2 GHz.
From this link I found that it is upgradable ncompservices reviews: Lenovo Y550 4186 - Processor and Hard Drive upgrade - A potentially very inexpensive gaming laptop.

Main reason for upgrading is that it CPU is bit slow 2.20 GHz so I want to upgrade it. Which mobile processor which you guys suggest that is compatible with my laptop? I really want to upgrade. And also the link which I provided has image corrupted so I can't see the whole tutorial. Anyone please help me.

And yeah one thing that I must told you that my laptop CPU hasn't soldered to the motherboard unlike most of the laptop so I think it is replaceable.

Thanking You,
Ravi

A:Upgrading Lenovo Ideapad Y550 CPU.

Although many laptop CPU's are not soldered and can (theoretically be replaced by the end user) your BIOS may not be able to handle the upgrade. I would be careful in attempting such an upgrade as you may render your warranty void as well as make your computer nothing more than an expensive paperweight.

Hello AmraamMissiles, and welcome to Seven Forums.

How did you install Windows 7? A clean install should not have this problem.

You might see if doing a repair install can fix this for you without losing anything. If not, then only a clean install will.

Hope this helps,

AGHammer wrote:Hey guys, Would anyone know if I can upgrade my laptop with dual 8 gb rams with 1600 mhz speed (G.Skill 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz SODIMM). Help would be appreciated! Thank youOne thing I'm sure of is that the memory will be dictated by the processor installed. Since you have not indicated the processor used I can't give you much detail. If you base it only on the specs you can only use 2 sticks or module with a max rating of 1333 Mhz each depending on the processor. As to the other specs details you have to locate the specs of the processor that you are using in the intel site. There you will know whether you can use 1600 Mhz plus other details. One thing for sure is that the max that you can use is 16 GB only if the processor allows it since you can't find a 16 GB module in the market to achieve 32 GB per processor spec.

What can I do with that?Normal launching (1)?Normal launching (2)?Memtest86?Safe Mode/repairing startup?BIOS with 4GB inside?

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 upgrading RAM

Hi hyperxd ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the product RAM specification :
4GB or 8GB std / 8GB max7 ; PC3-up to 1333MHz DDR3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

Recommended RAM upgrade as per hardware manual FRU listing for 4GB (page 85) :
13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, SAM M471B5273CH0-CH9 DDR3 1333 4GB  Part number : 11011934 13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, HMT351S6AFR8C-H9 N0 ((Rev Orion /2Gb/54nm)) Part number : 1101151313 DDRIII 1333 4GB, ELP EBJ41UF8BAS0-DJ-F DDR3 1066 4GB Part number : 11011867

Do you have the same specification as indicated above?
Would that be the same issue when it is on the lower slot 0 ?

Note: If only one DIMM is used on the computer you are servicing, the card must be installed in SLOT-0 ( a : lower slot), but not in SLOT-1 ( b : upper slot) (page 41).

Update us how it goes.

I'm having a difficult time finding ANY update information relating to Windows 10 for my Lenovo V570. The V580 appears on several "update" and "download" pages on Lenovo's site.....but nothing for the 570. Has my laptop passed some sort of critical "age barrier" that I'm not aware of? This page, for exampe: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds014924, is a place where you can download the Power Manager utility for your Lenovo laptop.........UNLESS you own the V570. The 580 is there, but NOT the 570.Did I not get the email announcing that my laptop is over the hill? (Yeah, I know, that page says for Win 7 computers....but Lenovo doesn't know what OS I'm running!!) To make matters worse, THIS page (and many other Lenovo pages) invite me to click a button to "Automatically scan your system and get the latest available updates". Problem is, when I CLICK the Start Scan button...I get an error that says "Your system is not supported for system updates". Again, I must have missed the email. To add insult to injury, there is, apparently no way to contact an actual Lenovo employee to ask the question: WHEN DID YOU STOP ALL SUPPORT FOR THE V570??? Disappoinging, Lenovo.....to say the least.
