Q: [Tutorial] How to upgrade AMD driver HP ProBook 4730s Widnow...

Hello, I was struggling with AMD drivers for some time now. As we all know HP did not upgrade video drivers. Last update was in 2012. Since then, nothing. So, lets start. 1. Best thing is having a clean Windows 7 64bit install.2. Fist we need to download and install basic drivers for our laptop from HP website http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5060894&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4058 (choose your operating system)3. First chipset - all drivers. Skip Graphic drivers for now, install all others for ethernet, wifi, touchpad etc.4. NOW - go to intel website https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81502/Intel-HD-Graphics-2000-for-2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-... and download Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Windows* 7/8-64-bit or 32 depends on your system.5. Install it. You will need to reboot your machine. CREATE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT NOW! Just in case something goes wrong. 6. Go to HP drivers website and now download and install ATI Video Driver and Control Panel (International) 8.91-111013A-132348C 30 Jan 2012 version. Reboot.7. Click right click on the desktop and see if in the menu you have graphic switching method listed ( top, under Graphic properties from AMD ). If yes click and CCC control panel will open. 8. Choose maximum performance mode. This will enable the AMD graphic card.9. Google and download Catalyst_14.4_WHQL_UnifL_v2.4 file should have 425,817 KB ( 425 MB )10. Double click to unpack. As soon as you can see "Options", <Deploy> and "Exit" buttons press first (options) and choose "With Intel HP Graphics (Legacy+) that is for our video cars. They are using Fixed mode ( older generation of switchable graphic cards ).11. Click <Deploy> and drivers will unpack.12. Go to proper directory ( C:/drivers on default ), Catalyst_14.4_WHQL_UnifL_v2.4 folder, AMD (no need to install Intel), 14.4 and choose install. Express or advanced, up to you. Install all. Update gave me an extra 20 FPS in Hawken - boost from 37 to 57, same graphic in-game settings. If you have any questions, please ask. Best regards, Hoshi.

Hey hey internet,  I have been thinking about upgrading my usb ports on my probook and wanted to know if anyone has had a go at it and if so, how'd they get on and where did they start? Also, more importantly, if it is actually possible to do, I know the 4530 was able to support usb 3 and figured it should be fine for the 4730 but always good to check, right?  Thanks in advance and hope all is well with you fine people

Hi, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and then I couldn't get the WLAN going. I figured that the laptop may be too old. So I downgraded again. Now I can't get the WLAN going again. And I don't know why. Which driver is the right one? I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit. Thanks for your help

Hi: There can be one of many different model wireless cards installed in your notebook. Look on the bottom of the notebook, and there should be a sticker with an FCC-ID. Post the FCC-ID, so I can figure out what model wireless network card your notebook comes with.

Good Evening All,Tech-Xcellent here, I have a HP Probook 4730s with Windows 10 installed. Before the installation, I upgraded the BIOS & required drivers, installed the update, updated the newly installed Windows 10, did the customary reboot and 'blank screen'. The laptop itself is making noise like it's busy doing something, but there is no display. I have connected via HDMI a secondary screen and still nothing. It reaches the first 'windows' logo with the loading thingy underneath it, disappears and goes 'blank', I have no error code's, I cannot access 'safe-mode' and have been through all the recovery options, none of which worked (except the return to a working restore point), but it's moot as the system updates again and reboots and nothing, again!. I have it connected to power the entire time, I was running Windows 8.1 x64 rather well prior to this Windows 10 issue. Any suggestions? I have tired everything possible to solve this.Thank you, - Tech-Xcellent.

Before you do that, Go to the HP Site, and type in your model # computer and find out if there are any drivers for XP. If it shipped with Windows 7 then it is highly unlikely. If you get XP installed, you probably won't be able to get on the internet, have sound, or a decent display.

I would like to upgrade the Probook 440 G3 with a secondary storage a  2,5 500 GB SSD.In this notebook primary storage is a 256 GB SSD M.2.Is it possible the installation of both without removing the first  256 GB SSD M.2  (SSD M.2 Primary storage + SSD 2,5 Secondary storage)? If yes is it necessary to buy the Hard drive Hardware Kit (includes bracket and screws)? Thank you

A:Probook 440 G3 SSD Upgrade

See p. 35 of the Manual here: Service Manual There is a SATA hard drive bay and it looks like the SATA connectors on the drive plug directly into the motherboard. The M.2 slot is at right angles and above the hard drive bay so yes, you can have both a 2.5 inch SATA SSD and also the M.2 mSSD. You can just add in the 2.5 inch SATA SSD (or hard drive) and you really do need the hard drive mounting kit otherwise the hard drive will rattle around in the bay and that is not good for the laptop or the drive.  Hard Drive Hardware Kit, includes: 826382-001 http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?type=PROD&SearchText=T8Y22US When you install the SSD or HDD storage drive you will have to initialize and mount it (assign a drive letter) in disk management. Yes that is the memory you need and yes, with 32 bit Windows only about 3.5 to 4 gigs can be used. To go higher you need a 64 bit operating system.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello, I have the ProBook 455 g1 with A4-4300M processor. I have been told that the processor is changeable, but this begs the question: which processor models are compatible? I would be very grateful if some could point me at a page with that information or just share it here. But, I want only intel. Thank you.

A:ProBook 455 g1 Processor Upgrade

You cannot replace an AMD APU with an Intel APU.  The platforms are not interchangeable.  It is either an AMD processor and AMD systemboard or an Intel processor with an Intel based systemboard . If you want an Intel processor, then you will have to purchase a notebook with the Intel platform and APU. The following APUs are compatible with your systemboard. A8-5550M, 3.1-GHz/2.1-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache, HD 8550G graphics 713551-001?A8-4500M, 2.8-GHz/1.9-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache, HD 7640G graphics 683048-001?A6-5350M, 3.5-GHz/2.9-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 8450G graphics 713550-001?A6-4400M, 3.2-GHz/2.7-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 7520G graphics 683047-001?A4-5150M, 3.3-GHz/2.7-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 8350G graphics 713549-001?A4-4300M, 3.0-GHz/2.5-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 7420G graphics 685990-001  Source: Maintenence & SErvice Guide for your model notebook on page 20http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03765776.pdf

Hi guys! I'm using HP Probook 450 G1, I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB to upgrade the original HDD (Seagate SSHD 500GB). I've installed a clean Windows 10 on the SSD. I've putted the SSD in the main SATA and the HDD in the optical caddy which replaced the DVD drive.  The problems are: Windows 10 hangs at the windows logo, the spinner keep spinning for endless and I have to hard-reset my laptop or I can boot windows successfully but the windows can't see the HDD in optical caddy but when i use Seagate DiskWizzard in HirenBoot 15.2, it seem like my latop can connect with the HDD. Sometimes it boot successfully, windows recogize the HDD and I can see the HDD partition in Explorer, but when I shutdow my laptop, and boot it again, windows hang again. If I disable the "Optical Drive" in bios or remove the HDD optical caddy, my laptop boot smoothy. I've tried re-install windows 10 on the ssd for several times but it didn't work. I've already deleted partition that have the previous Windows on the HDD, upgrade bios (bios v 1.31), turn off fastboot in bios,... Also, I've tried to install both SSD and HDD to another laptop (Vaio) and it worked fine, nothing happened. I wonder if HP Probook 450 G1 doesn't support to use HDD in optical drive. Please help me, I'm so desperate righ now. Thank you for reading my post!

A:memory upgrade for HP ProBook 640 G1

There are two available soDIMM slots for memory modules. Yes, you can upgrade to a maximum of 16GB.  For a successful upgrade you will have to install a pair of matching memory modules. Using the original memory module and adding another memory module is likely to not be asuccessful upgrade.  See the following web document for guaranteed compatible memory modules for upgrading.http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//probook-640-g1

Okay, I have the 6570b which has the 1366 x 768 screen.  I read here (yes here), that there were 3 screens available, the 1366 x 768, the 1600 x 900 and the 1920 x 1080, and that they could be physically installed into my laptop without issues. So, I went ahead and bought the 1920 x 1080 screen (Part No. 690405-001). I do a lot of PC/Laptop/iPhone repairs, so this was not a big task for me.  I replaced the screen no problem, powered up the laptop, and nothing. The screen itself lit up, so I knew it was getting power. I read somewhere else that maybe I needed the HD screen cable (Part No. 646969-001); so I went ahead and bought that too. I've just finished installing the cable, and reassembled the laptop, only to be presented with the same issue. Black sceen, but backlit. Any ideas? EDIT - Appears I bought the exact same cable (got the part number from another forum). I have now ordered the Part Number MPN 50.4RY03.001. Let's see if that one works when it arrives.

Yes and No.No as the comupter and components are designed to best suite with eachother. So manufacturers will not support using incompatible parts though custamization is accepted.Yes as there are technicians who can mix and match the components but the combination needs regular maintenance and watch. I would not recommand doing this as it may end up in failutes and issues.Workaround would be to buy a HD monitor(ecternal) and connect it. There are n number of options in HD monitor to choose from.

Heya  I have lately been trying to upgrade my boyfriends computer to Windows 10 64x.It is currently running on Windows 10 32x, but it should according to information found online be able to upgrade to 64x, and it says it is capable to do so in the system specifics.  However, when I try to boot from USB with the Windows 10 installation properly installed on it, the computer turns itself off when the Windows Corporation loading screen shows up. The same also happens when I have tried to do a factory reset on the computer, booting in safe mode and the like, it just completely shuts itself off at the moment Windows Corporation and the loading screen shows up.  Any ideas of what is wrong or what I can do to get around this issue? Any other workarounds I could do? I know the computer is old now, and that the issue may be unfixable, but I am willing to give most ideas a shot at this point.

I trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and the upgrade always gets stuck at a Windows 10 dialog box that says DigitalPersona Pro needs to be manually uninstalled (there are two instances of this message). This appears associated with the HP ProtectTools that was originally installed on this machine. However, I cannot find either one of these programs in the list of programs that can be deinstalled in Control Panel. I do see HP ProtectTools in the programs menu, but when I run it, it is "loading applications" and never finishes that. I've tried downloading HP ProtectTools from the HP support side, for my model laptop and re-installing (hoping that I can then de-install a repaired install), but at the end of the install the installer says that it is not supported on my machine. I just want to get DigitalPersona Pro off of my machine and finish the Windows 10 upgrade. I don't even care if the fingerprint reader even works. I've searched the web and found lot's or references to fix this, but so far nothing I've tried has worked. Help.

Greetings all! I have a probook 4530s with a i3 2310m processor, 4gb PC3 10600 DDR3 ram, 320gb HD, with Intel HD graphics. So far I've thrown in a extra 4gb of ram and a Samsung 850 250gb SSD. I want to upgrade the old motherboard (part number 646245-001) to the newer one with i7 quad core support and AMD Radeon HD 1gb card (part number 665116-001). My question is this. What other parts will I need for this swap out? I believe I will need a new heat sink because if the discrete graphics. And will my laptop base fit the new mobo? Just looking for a bit of guidance for the swap out. I will post a link for the laptop parts guide located on my Google Drive. Thanks for the advice and knowledge!

Hi, 2 days ago I upgraded to Windows 10 my HP ProBook 450 G0.After I realized my graphic drivers are not working properly I tried to update them to the lastest listed at drivers download section for my model. After this I had BSODs and couldn't even see login screen. I removed installed update in safe mode.So right now I'm using some default driver I guess. In the devices manager on Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 I have something like (manual translation) "Windows has stopped this device because of raported troubles. (Code 43)".I cannot use HDMI & internal display. To use HDMI I need to restart my PC. After using HDMI I cannot use internal display. A lot of issues, because of this driver...I really need this, as I'm teacher and I', using both internal display & HDMI for presentations... Any solutions? Any logs I can get to help you help me ? Regards,Jakub Król.

I wanted to do a factory reset, but it informed me that recovery files could not be found (which I didn't modify at all). Then, I have make a recovery USB from Windows 8.1 official site, and reinstalled my PC to clean Windows 8.1. I can nowhere find list of drivers/software that was originally installed on my computer, I can only find this http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5359406&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4158 which lists bunch of crapware and a few drivers (which many of them cannot be installed, and some of them are for devices that are not even on the ProBook 450 G0, such as fingerprint scanner). Can somebody please list all of the drivers which I should download (without the duplicates and HP crapware) to restore the original state of my laptop. Some of the features I'm unable to fix:- Brightness doesn't change on screen when adjusted- Wireless button doesn't work- Graphics cards are unrecognized (as some kind of Microsoft Basic Video Adapter...)- Many of the USB hubs don't work- Bluetooth device is unknown

Hello dear community  Long story short: I have a HP ProBook 4520s and yesterday I manually upgraded it (with the tool provided by MS) from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Everything went fine and smooth and it works perfectly good so far.The problem is that some of the features of the laptop don't work anymore. Here are a few examples:- scroll option on the touchpad- built-in camera- some of the FN buttons like the one for screen brightness while others (such as the volume and e-mail) work My reasoning is that it's either missing some drivers or these functions are somehwat not compatible with the new OS (it's a 5+ year-old PC after all), but I might be wrong. Hi: You should be able to...Just make sure you connect by ethernet cable so W10 is activated before the deadline. Then I recommend you get the Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 wlan card...HP Part number 636672-001, listed in chapter 3, page 25 of the service manual.  That is the only card that I see on the list that should work on W10. NOTE:  You MUST get that specific card, and it MUST have the HP part number on it or it will not work. I usually go on eBay, query by the HP part number and buy a card that shows the part number in the eBay listing photograph.  But an easier thing to do would be to make the W10 installation DVD by using the media creation tool at the link below, run the upgrade from the windows desktop, select do not check for updates and W10 will bypass any hardware checks and install with the atheros card in place. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 I doubt the atheros card will work after W10 is installed, but you shouldn't have to remove it just to install W10. There is a W10 driver for that card but I think the hardware version of the card your notebook has is too old to work with the driver. This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros AR9000-Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported models and operating systems.  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71858.exe OPERATING SYSTEM(S):Microsoft Windows 10 32Microso... Q: 4730s

I have a Probook 4730s which has Protectools on it version 5.10.18.  I do not have a fingerprint scanner but I keep getting a biometric notice when I start the machine.  Since I don't have the scanner I want to disable it.  But everything I can find talks about a green check mark to do that but the Security Manager doesn't show any kind of check marks.  I tried installing a newer version but says it can't install because the drive is encrypted.  Again no way to unencrypt drive.  I am frustrated to the point I want to uninstall Protectools but it doesn't show up in installed programs et cetera so I can't uninstall it either. HELP!

The system BIOS will not be updated." Looking at the files in the listed path, I find two zipped files (68SCE and 68SCF). Exploring the zipped files, I find efibios.sig, Rom.bin, Rom.sig, ver.sig and ver (a text file) in each zipped file. I purchased a new laptop, but wasn't aware it didn't have an optical drive. that's ok I thought, I'll install from a flash drive...After selecting country/language at the start of the install I'm getting a message 'Load Driver''A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.'I've read that it's due to Windows 7 not having USB 3.0 drivers, and the 'fix' is to plug the drive into a USB 2.0 port. I'm using the USB 2.0 port and no joy, so assuming it's using the same chipset at the USB 3.0 ports.I've tried from a USB optical driver, I've tried several OS disks and ISO's. I've tried disable various BIOS options (now reset to default). No joy.I've tried downloading various chipset drivers and various storage drivers onto the bootable flash drive, or another flash drive when trying to DVD...but it only displays 'X' and the files created for the OS, I'm unable to 'see' the other devices that hold these drivers.Having spent most of the day trying to resolve, I've given up and hoping somebody on these lovely forums may be able to give me the guidance I desperately require...Surely HP must have a tool that installs the required chipset drivers into the OS boot files like other manufacturers? Thanks in advance

I recently had the misfortune of screwing up my Win7 installation beyond repair, restore points corrupted, you name it.  To the point, I began from scratch and have caught up pretty reasonably.  I noticed a new graphic driver previously not released while I was busy destroying my previous Win7 installation, and upon installing it discovered that every time I completed the installation, it would reboot, flash a few times (which video driver installations tend to do), then Aero would be turned off and a popup would say a restart was necessary due to 'changes made.' So I would restart, and even before I could login, I saw the flashing taking place as the login screen loaded.  Upon logging in, there it was again, 'restart due to changes.' This happened seven times.  I finally loaded a restore point from before it and things are fine now.  Here is a screenshot of iolo System Mechanic and Windows Update's visual of the driver.  I know my ProBook has interchangable GPU capabilities which has been the source of quite a bit of stress, so I wondered if this simply wasn't meant for my particular laptop, but I would like some insight from the community. Here are the pictures of the drivers: Can anyone verify or offer some insight to a very confused user of an otherwise amazing machine?  I always like to have the best graphic drivers possible for the gaming this laptop is capable of running (D3 at impressive FPS, WoW too.) A... I have a HP Probook 6540b notebook. When I bought it, it had Windows 7 installed. Last fall, I decided to do the upgrade check and the hp site I used told me that my notebook was ready to be updated to Windows 10. So I did. Before the process, I backed up everything important, just in case. Appeared to be an unnecessary action. After the upgrade, everything worked out fine. Until I needed my webcam. I have been unable since last octobre to find a WindowsX driver to get my onboard webcam working. HP only offers drivers for Windows 7, Vista and XP, which are not my OS. Does anyone have any clue how to cure this problem? Or should I just spent about ?25 and buy a WindowsX-compatible webcam? Thanx in advance for your assistence! Joost KuinNetherlands

Hello,I am having an issue with my Probook 450 g3 running windows 10 pro x64 anniversary update v1607.Most of the time, the audio doesn't work. When its not working, it says that there is no playback device found in control panel --> sounds.I have updated the machine with the latest drivers and bios and it still does not work. However, if I uninstall the synaptics touchpad drivers and reboot, the speakers work fine. Unfortuantely, windows will automatically install a driver for the touchpad and it wants me to restart. The next time I restart, the speakers break again. I have disabled the setting to automatically install drivers in advanced system settings, and it still installs the drivers. Some info:Conexant ISST audio driver version: 9.0.72.50Synaptics ps/2 port touchpad driver version: 19.0.19.48Bios version: 1.14 Please let me know if you need any other details. Thanks, bench

While upgrading my ProBook 4520s from Windows 7 pro 64 to Windows 10 pro 64 the laptop froze. It appears that it was caused by the Ralink RT3090 wifi chip driver that comes with Windows 10. I have replaced it with another driver and the upgrade worked fine. The procedure I followed was as follows: - Disable the wifi/bluetooth combo in the BIOS settings. - Goto control panel - Windows upgrade and start the listed Windows 10 upgrade- After Windows 10 has been installed, download the Ralink RT3090 driver from: http://mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/pcimpcicbrt2860rt2760rt2890/ fill in a name, email address and the captcha to start the download of the driver package. Note that Mediatek bought Ralink a few years ago so this site is from the manufacturer or the Ralink RT3090 wifi chip used in the laptop. - Unpack the driver package in a folder.- Select Windows key + R, enter msconfig and run it- Select to start Windows 10 in safe mode after the next boot - Select to reboot the PC- When the PC restarts but before Windows 10 starts up, enter the BIOS settings by pressing escape- Enable the wifi/bluetooth combo in the BIOS settings- Save the BIOS settings and exit- Windows will start in safe mode- Install the new driver by running setup.exe in the folder where the driver package was unpacked- Select Windows key + R and enter msconfig and configure to start Windows normally after the next boot- Reboot It appears that the ProBook 4520s c... Howdy! I've recently had the infamous "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered." error while playing The Ship (Steam powered). I have done research and found the most recommended solution, which is upgrading my driver.
However, after downloading the new driver for my Intel Express 82945G video card, (6/6/2007, whereas my current one is in December) I read the readme. It explicitly states that you must have at least 1 GB of system memory. However, my new Windows Vista computer only has 512 MB. Because of this, I have not yet installed the driver.
Next course of action?
Thanks!

A:Display Driver Igfx Error/ok To Upgrade Driver?

It sounds like you definitely need the new driver, but if it states you need 1 gig...you probably do. If you are playing graphics intensive games you should likely upgrade anyway.

If it were me (and I am not advising you to do this) I would back everything up first, then go ahead and try to install the new driver, and see if it worked.

Dear All,

I had purchased HP Probook 4520 in september 2010 from kenya with Pre Installed Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.I want to upgrade to windows 7 Pro 64 bit.HP didnt provided windows 7 boot disk and license key.

In Disk Management it shows me 4 Primary Partions:
System Partition as Active Primary partition 300 MB NTFS
C: Primary Partition NTFS
HP Recovery Tools Primary partition NTFS
HP Tools E: Primary Partition on FAT 32

After Running Key generator i got the windows CD key and OEM Product Id tied to CD key.

My question are:
1.Can i upgrade this to 64 Bit windows 7 Pro and How.
2.Can i use 64 bit Windows 7 Pro downloaded from Microsoft site and enter the CD Key.
3. I am based out of India. For any activation of license i need to call Microsoft India helpline or make a ISD call to Microsoft Kenya helpline.

A:upgrade of windows 7 Pro 32 bit to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on HP Probook

You can't dowload the OS from microsoft unless you purchase it online.
But if you download it illegaly, theoretically you can use your win 7 pro 32bit key to activate an installation of win7 pro 64bit.
If your windows is activated you can use this (screenshot lol.) app to find your key.
ps why do you want to upgrade?

Dell just saying it's a "possibility" the motherboard might need to be replace. No one can tell you that motherboard is definite "Fried" without first looking at the system.

I've just finished an in-place upgrade of Windows 7 to 8.1u1 (with a intermediate step of upgrading W7 to W8).

The system was installed was on a SSD with MBR partitions and I wanted to convert to GPT disk and initialize secure EFI boot, but Windows setup and DiskPart only allow this operation on a clean unformatted disk, and a few threads in the forum advise that this is the only option:

Cannot boot UEFI install
EFI / UEFI partition Deleted
http://www.eightforums.com/installat...on-t-boot.html
Anybody have luck imaging 8 with UEFI, GPT, Secure Boot?
etc.

Fortunately I have found Microsoft KB articles that detail the process of manually making/restoring an EFI boot partition.

There is a 3rd party disk partitioning utility that allows you to convert MBR disks to GPT disk and resize partitions to make room for EFI boot, WinRE and MSR partitions.
So I thought this would be useful if someone would review the process and maybe the admin will eventually make a full step-by-step tutorial out of this thread.

This guide can also be used to manually restore EFI system boot partition in case of failure.

A:Tutorial: Upgrade MBR boot disk to EFI boot disk

How to convert bootable MBR system disk to a UEFI bootable disk without losing your data in Windows 8/8.1
OR
Repair UEFI system boot partition (only perform steps 1, 5.ii, 6-7).

You need to have a working Windows installation on a bootable MBR disk which has two partitions - a 100 MB system MBR partition (id=27) and a primary Windows partition with intact C:\Windows.
In order to boot Windows in UEFI mode, you will have to convert your disk to GUID Partition Table (GPT) format, create (or re-create) the necessary system partitions, copy EFI Windows Boot Manager code to the System partition and create BCD store. Your Windows partition will be left intact and all your programs, files and settings will remain.

0. Create a System Image Backup

Control Panel, File History, System Image Backup

Select a hard disk to store the backup. It should be a basic disk (NOT a dynamic disk) and should have enough free space to hold your entire C: partition.
The backup should only be required if something goes very wrong with partition resize in step 3 - for example, if you accidentally wipe your main partition, or if a power surge interferes with non-destructive resize operation, in which case you should boot Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and restore your partitions.
Note that if you decide to wipe the disk and run a clean install using Windows Setup media, this backup will NOT allow you to restore your files afterwards, since the size of the new partition will not match... Read more

vidx16.dll
quartz.vdx
mciqtz.drv

I've been having some problems with a game (World of Warcraft), it crashes to a black screen, sometimes my PC reboots itself. I'm going through my dxdiag and trying to find the oldest drivers to upgrade them, and its giving me these 3 which are all dated 11/17/1997 which is really strange because I bought this thing about a year and a half ago, not sure why it would have software from 8 years ago.

So I did a little research on the web and turns out vidx16.dll is a Windows Media driver, so I download the latest version (10) and install it. Do another dxdiag and...

it's still there.

I don't get it. How do I upgrade this direct x driver file??

A:How would you upgrade this driver?

What version of DirectX are you using? the latest is 9.0C I believe. Not real sure how you would update specific files within DirectX.

I have upgraded my system to XP from Millenium and it runs at a crawl now on the Internet whereas it ran fine before. It was suggested to me that I upgrade my video card drivers, so being that I'm going to get a new system shortly, there's no reason for me to buy driver upgrade software for this machine if I only have to upgrade the drivers once for my temporary use at present.

So I'm looking for a good freeware program that could upgrade my video card drivers and was wondering if anyone could recommend one.

Hi can anyone recommend upgrading my GeForce4 MX440 card with the new NVidia driver V61.77. This card has never been upgraded.

A:NVidia driver upgrade

I wouldn't update to an unsigned driver and unless it has been signed in the last week the 61.77s aren't signed.
I am running the 56.72s on my other machine but they could use an upgrade. Check and see if they have been signed, if so upgrade. It won't hurt. It won't hurt if they are unsigned either but windows will give you grief about them.

Apologies if something resembling this issue has been addressed elsewhere.
I received my laptop (HP dv2635) back today at factory settings on 32-bit Vista Professional after having to send it away to get the mainboard replaced. I installed Win 7 and all seems to be going well, though there are a few things like drivers for webcam, touchpad, fingerprint reader etc that are not up to date because these devices are not responding in the same way they used to.
HP website has not yet listed driver updates for Win7, but I recall reading somewhere on several of the forums I have looked at that most Vista drivers for devices such as these should work. Is this true?
I can definitely survive with things as they are until HP extends driver support over the coming weeks, but a temporary fix would definitely eb awesome, especially for the touchpad.
Thanks in advance

The screen is only half filled. I know in order to fix this i need to change my scailing options within Ati CCC but I'm missing almost ALL of the options in CCC? I've tried 3 different drivers from the ati site, the guru3d driver sweeper and reinstalling them all, disabling the STUPID microsoft drivers from auto installing.

Has anyone experienced this? Why are all the features missing from my ccc? It's annoying using 18 inches of my 24 inch monitor.

This is legit the only options in my CC. Scaling and overscan is not in any of them
