A:Restore HP Probook 4520s to factory settings

Hi, See if you can remove the Admin Password - see Here.  When done, try option 1 in my previous post.  Otherwise, the only other options are to order Recovery Disc, or if notebook came with Windows 7, try the following. There may be a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need. If you have access to this, just use the retail disc to perform the installation, enter the activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations. http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx Any additional drivers you may need can be found starting Here. Regards, DP-K?

Dear All,

i have a HP Probook 4520s (now out of warranty) and i want to bring the same to factory condition bcoz of virus issues.

Now, on various forums i read there is an option of F11 for recovery manager, which is not working in my case.

1) In Disk management I can see my recovery partition (15 gb) but with no option of making it active.

2) My recovery partion is more like a folder in C: HP_RECOVERY_mountHPSF

What can be the best way to restore to the factory condition. This is a legitimate Windows 7 copy and therefore i do not want to install some other copy, also there could be issues with drivers and all.

I would really appreciate if the forum members can help me in resolving the issue.

Regards,

Nik

Attempted to up-date to Windows 10. Couldn't do it. Microsoft (MS) Tech tried to do it and couldn't do it. It seems there are some security tools that must be removed as they are incompatable with Windows 10. MS tried to remove and couldn't do it. He said they were on the mother board and when he tried to remove them they just kept coming back so once again he couldn't do it. He said contact HP and they could do it. Unable to find anybody at HP that can do it. As you can see nobody can do it so I guess it just cannot be done. That is unless some fine person out there has discovered a way to do it. If thats the case please tell me ho wo do it.

I have a new ProBook 4540s notebook that I shut down over the weekend. I am not sure if I put it into hibernate, sleep, or what as I am still getting use to it. When I tried to turn it on (not plugged in) I got nothing. So I plugged in the power cord and hit the power button again. All it did was the LED above the cord plug blinked about 8 times and nothing else. I let it "charge" overnight and tried again in the morning. Nothing but a blinking LED. I Googled the problem and it said to take the battery out, unplug, and hold the power button down for 20 seconds. I plugged it back in but left the battery out, and still the same thing - flashing LED. HELP! Thanks.

HiI tried to update to W10 and failed with OXC 1900200 which suggests a compatibility issue. It is unclear on the HP website if this model supports W10 -  HP has not tested your PC model for upgrade to Windows 10.If your Windows 7 or 8 PC was manufactured before August 2013 or is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, HP cannot confirm it can be upgraded to Windows 10.  Can anybody offer an advice if the 4540S supports the W10 upgrade and if so any advice on what may be causing the error. ThanksJohn

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until a half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging.  When plugging in the power cord (that came with the ProBook when I bought it around 18 months ago), the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times. I've tried following this fix I found on Google: 1. Turn off the notebook2. remove the battery3. remove the charging adapter4. press + hold the power button for 40 seconds5. insert the charging adaptor only6. press the power button and it supposedly continues but I get stuck at this point, because even plugged in, my ProBook won't start up without the battery in also. Is this a know problem/is there a fix for this?

My laptop is running Windows 10 64-bit.

For the past few weeks my laptop has been turning off unexpectedly.

I've tried with battery only. With battery and power cable and with battery removed and only power cable.

I am using the machine normally and then screen just goes black and power offs - no restart, no hibernation, no shut down. Just instantaneously off.

It's not overheating. Could it be a fan issue?

I don't know - but it's getting quite irritating as I often have many apps open and many files open on each app and takes me 30 mins to get back to where I left off.

A:the touchpad of probook 4540s i5 freezes after sometime

Hello zamsam,

I understand that your touchpad will freeze.

Do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.

This should reset the hardware in the computer.

As you power it back on tap the F2 key. This will load hardware diagnostics.
Run the startup test.

This will test all the hardware in the system and detect any problems.

If the entire test passes, turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.

When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.

Dear Customer, Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you. This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. Please have a look at this link. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/49497-HP-Probook-Elitebook-BIOS-Password-Reset-Utility 2. A:HP ProBook 4540s (Model C9K70UT) Windows 10 Compatibility

Hi: When I enter the product number for your PC after clicking on the Upgrade Icon on the link you posted, I get this message... http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ads/windows10/not_tested.html?jumpid=cp_r163_us/en/pc_cons/win10/update/Fin... So what that means is HP does not support your notebook with drivers and software to work on W10. That doesn't mean it can't.  It just means there is a possibility that some of the hardware won't work. I looked at the specs for your notebook, and it appears that it should work on W10. I have much older HP business notebooks than the 4540s and they work on W10. I do not use any of the security software such as the fingerprint reader, so I can't say if that will work on yours or not, and mine don't have webcams. There are some W7/W8.1 drivers you may have to install such as the JMicron Card reader driver to get the card reader to work. You can always give it a shot and if it doesn't work, roll back to W7 within 30 days of the upgrade. If you need help finding a driver or so, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Hi, downloaded windows 10 for PC last night to upgrade from Windows 7 Pro.  I was required to uninstall HP ProtectTools Security Manager, after further prompting to uninstall dependent applications such as Divice Access manager, face recognition, file sanitiser, privacy manager, Theft recovery and Drive encryption  (fingerprint reconition no longer functions).  Can I reinstall?  If so how, and will there be any conflicts?

I have a relatively new HP Probook 4540s, running the Windows 7 x64 Edition OS, which regularly stalls for a few seconds (5-6 secs), before returning to normal operations. This is witnessed while writing documents, viewing web-pages, opening any application, and other general use items.

Appreciate anyone's help in resolving this issue. Is this an OS issue or hw/sw combination problem? Look forward to your help in clearing this annoying and in-comprehensible problem.

Thanks and best regards,
Akbar

My son has an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop. It came with Vista, but he let a friend put a bootlegged copy of Win 7 on it.

Now he just wants to reset the whole thing back to factory settings, but we've been unable to do so. When I try alt and F10, the following comes up:

Edit Windows boot options for: Windows 7
Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Partition: 3
Hard Disk: 91a9ef1d
[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

and then there's a white, non-blinking cursor after it.
In the left bottom corner, it says Enter=Submit
In the right, ESC=Cancel

So, the two questions are:

1. Can the laptop be restored back to factory settings, and
2. Can Vista be put back?

We have no restore or recovery disks.

Thanks,

Karen

A:Trying to do a restore to factory settings

seems you have to enter BIOS to enable recovery disk in boot menu.

your manual here . http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Document/User%20Manual/AS_GE_1.0_A_Eng.zip?acerid=633646694786956080&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%206930&OS=721&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_4

you could first check in Disk Management to make sure the Recovery Partition is still there as your helpful friend may have nuked it for the Win7 install.

If so how do I go about doing this? I have all the discs the laptop came with including 2 with drivers & 1 with operating system.

Another reason for wanting to clear the laptop is that I need to uninstall a program, which currently wont uninstall due to an error to do with setup.exe?!

From the on-line service manual:

Acer eRecovery Management

Acer eRecovery Management is a tool to quickly backup and restore the system.
You can create and save a backup of the current system configuration to hard

Acer eRecovery Management consists of the following functions:

3 Restore and recovery

This chapter will guide you through each process.

Note: This feature is only available on certain models. For systems
that do not have a built-in optical disc burner, plug in an external

When using Acer eRecovery Management, you may be prompted to enter the

A:restore factory settings

If you remove the CMOS battery from your motherboard (the little shiny silver battery about the size of a nickel) and leave it out for about a minute, it'll clear your passwords. However, it'll also clear out any custom settings you had set in your BIOS as well. However, it should let you get past the issue with the admin password.

Just for grins and giggles, did you just hit ENTER without entering a password? If you didn't set up a password to begin with, you may just need to press ENTER and be in business. Try that first.

Let me know.

Good day!

I am selling my laptop and want to restore it back to factory settings. I have a Dell Inspiron mini 1012 running Win 7 starter 32 bit. The laptop works fine, no problems at all but again just want to restore it back.
In my manual it says 2 ways to restore to factory.

1) F8 then through the repair my console selection. ( I tried this and whenever I click on this selection it just loads windows normally. I am assuming this partition got messed up.)

2) By creating a USB or CD using the Dell Datasafe local backup program it came loaded with. THIS IS THE ONE i NEED HELP WITH.

I created the USB using the dell program and when I start my laptop and go to boot menu the computer recognizes the USB i created it on but then I get the all black WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER screen with the following
WINDOWS FAILED TO START. A RECENT HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE CHANGE MIGHT BE THE CAUSE.

1 INSERT DISC

2 CHECK LANGUAGE SETTINGS???

3 CLICK REPAIR COMPUTER

FILE: /WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/BOOT/WINLOAD.EXE

STATUS: 0xc000000d

Info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the app is missing or corrupt.

So what did I do wrong? Any help with this, I just bought the USB today and put it right in so unless I didn't do something right with that? Thanks

A:Trying to restore to factory settings.

First run Dell Diagnostics to check over the hardware, and know whether that partiition is worth keeping because it works: Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the

Then you can try Dell Recovery Partition - restoring F8 link

If that fails follow these steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with the installer provided in Step 1. Delete all partitions during booted install, unless Diagnostics run then you can save the OEM Tools partition for that reason.

If that fails report back exactly when and verbatim error message.

A:Cannot restore to factory settings

Sound very much like the hard drive is "on it's way out" as in "starting to fail".
Immediately back up your data to another drive if you can, before the drive fails completely.

To confirm that the drive is failing, you can test it with "Seagate SeaTools for DOS" (it doesn't have to be a Seagate drive to use the Seagate testing software). Get it here: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...toid=480bd20cacdec010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD

You will need to create a CD from the downloaded ISO file (instructions for doing this are on the download page).
You then boot your faulty PC from that CD to run the hard drive test.

It sounds like you aren't using a proper restore disk - most manufacturers make them fairly simple to use, certainly not needing to put in anything complicated. Even using a 'standard' Vista disk gives you options but accepting the defaults is enough. What make/model of computer is it? Laptop or desktop? You may have an option of not having to use the restore disk - try getting into the 'safe mode' menu (press F8 at boot up) and see if the is a 'repair my computer' option."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Hi.  I have an Acer nettop which originally came with Win 7 64 bit and I then upgraded to Windows 8.  I would like to sell it but obviously need to remove all my personal data first.  My question is what's is the best way to do this?  I have no CD so I would have to restore PC via recovery partition.  If I do that will my data be safely destroyed? And once restored to Win 7 factory settings, will I be able to re-use my upgrade to Win 8? Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

A:Restore pc to factory settings

That depends on just how much security you want with the old data.  The most secure obviously is to remove the hard drive and give it a few good whacks with a sledge hammer.  I'll quickly add that's a bit drastic for most purposes tho.  The easiest thing to do would probably to delete most everything from your My Documents and Downloads folders, delete all your emails and contacts (if you're using an email client), then delete all your pictures.  If you have an application with your financial data, uninstall it and any folders it keeps your data in.  Then do a defrag.  I guess a security close to the sledge hammer would be to run something like DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke), then reload all the software.  There're probably other things some folks do, but when I worked a few years refurbishing old computers, we did the last of these.

Good luck.

i've been thinking about restoring it to factory settings for a while now
i've done it to one of my other laptops 3 times
mainly because it's my dad and that laptop is old and gets slow very fast
it only has a 1GB memory so it sucks :P
I want to restore my acer aspire but there's one problem
I keep all my music and pictures on my D drive and not the default C drive
this is because my C drive eats its own space so I kept my personal stuff on my D drive but now that I want to restore it to factory settings
if I leave my personal stuff on that drive will they be wiped?
should I move them all back to my C drive and then factory reset it
and also is it Alt+F10 I want to make sure there's not much information about this on the internet for this laptop, I don't need to worry about programs because I know where to download them all again i'm just worried about my pictures which can't be replaced and all my music which I can't get back.
you can get all the information underneath here about my laptop
thankyou
I did try and system restore it but for some reason there's no shadow system restore copies on my laptop
there was a few days ago but there's non atall now
this is the first time it's ever done this.

Honestly if there is anything that you cant afford to lose then back it up to cd/dvd/external drive.

I wouldn't imagine that the d drive would be touched but you can never guess what goes through the minds of some system manufactures when they set systems up.

Hi

My other laptop got a nasty trojan the one that makes all your files look like they've disappeared. Anyway ran malware etc and cleaned up the virus and restored all the files. But found I couldn't reset up email etc in outlook when I went to reinstall outlook on the machine, so something still wasn't right. In order to ensure complete safety I went to restore the factory settings on the computer but for some reason I couldn't do this (I tried about 20 times!).

Someone with more technical 'no how' than me indicated to me that it sounds like the virus has embedded itself in the “re-build” part of the computer.

He said it could probably be found in the some directory (don't know where!).

But this would mean having to go in and find it, remove it and then probably never running Vista on it again. (The computer runs Vista but I can install something else if I need to at a later date).

The laptop is around a 2006 model, Compaq Presario B1900, and quite frankly I don’t consider it overly sensible to pay to get someone out to hunt through the directory to find this virus. At least not if they are going to be here and charge for hours say $200-300 worth, which is all the computer is worth, even though it is a handy part of our home office.

So if anyone can help me by providing some advice about how to resolve the problem and restore the factory settings then I’d be really grateful.

i would like to restore my laptop(Compaq Presario V2000) back to factory settings. my uncle gave me his old LT when he bought a new one. he did not have any recovery CD's and the built in ones had already been created and therefore i can not burn my personal copy of recover cd's from the LT itself. i have recently had a battle of serious viruses, trojans, and etc. my last battle i was receiving help to rid the backdoor rootkit(i think it was a rootkit) Zero.Access. i was instructed to use the combofix app. once it ran and attempted to reboot i had completely lost access to my KYBD and mouse(pad) on 12/12/11. still using the help i was told to run combofix again on the 14th in which a restore point was made along the registry restore. i was told 2days ago to run a registry restore within combofix to try to get the kybd and mouse working. the restore point created is not on the date in which the problem occurred. i was then instructed to do a sys restore before using combofix which was on the 12th. there are several restore points for the month of december as well as 3points before the 12th and one point on the 12th. i have tried to access all of those points but my computer will not let me gain access to the sys restore. i have tried to do the restore in safe mode with no luck. i would just like to start over and do clean sweep of the LT but i dont have any disc. i was wondering if there is a way to do this.

The first thing to check is whether you can restore your computer from a restore partition on the hard drive.

If that doesn't work, and depending on how old your computer is, you may be able to buy recovery discs. Have you seen this page?

Hi ZAPP,

Backup any data you need to keep first.

Here are the instructions :

Dell - Support

If they don't work for you, you have two options:

1. Boot the Dell dvd and reinstall using that ( if you have one)

Or

2. Mark the Recovery partition active ( sometimes called Flagged On ) and restart. The recovery program should start .

To Flag On the recovery partition , you would use a bootable partition manager, GParted is a free one here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=683279

SourceForge.net: GParted: Files

It downloads as an .iso file.

Burn that .iso to a cd - do not format the cd.

Use this .iso burner :

Burn CDCC.zip

Boot the cd you just made -it will load into memory and show your Hard drive.

Rt click the recovery partition ( it will smallish 6-10GB) and select Flag On , then click Apply.

The recovery partition should now say "boot" next to it.

Remove the cd and restart the pc.

I am trying to restore an old Dell Dimension running Windows XP to original factory settings. I want to sell the computer so I want it to be restored and have any info I have on it wiped off.

I have tried Ctrl-F11 at startup hitting it on the screen where it has the Dell screen before it gets to the Microsoft Windows screen, but it just is not working. At first I had a Diskette 0 error and so I read online about how to go in to the BIOS and turn off the Diskette drive. So I did that and I no longer see that error but I still just cannot get into the setup screen in order to do a System Restore.

Can anyone help?

I have an Asus F3F. I have been trying all of the functions to bring up the restore screen on startup (F9 is the one I have tried most as this is the applicable one) and the screen will just not come up.

Now I changed the name of the D: drive and converted it from FAT32 to NTFS as FAT32 would not let me download single files in excess of 4GB. In trying to restore, the computer has made a new drive called F: RESTORE which is in FAT32.

Now I know the obvious answer is to use a recovery disc, however my disc drive is broken and I am unable to do this. So did converting my D: drive kill the recovery partition or is it something else?

Any help would be much appreciated as my computer is running awfully and a restore would help no end to clear off all the junk.

Hello,

Restore the Factory Settings in XP Without a CD

WARNING: When you restore a computer to the original factory settings, you will lose all files, documents and programs that have been added to the system's hard drive. In most cases, this loss should be considered permanent.

1) Restart the computer.

2) Press the "F8" key after the computer reboots but before the "Windows" logo appears on the screen. You should now see the "Advanced Boot" menu.

3)Scroll down through the menu options using the down arrow key. Stop when "Repair Your Computer" is highlighted and hit the "Enter" key.

4)Select the language you wish to use and press the "Enter" key.

5) Type in the computer's administrator ID and password. Press the "Enter" key.

6) Scroll through the options using the down arrow key. Choose "Restore (name of computer manufacturer) Settings." Press the "Enter" key.

7) Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to reformat the hard drive.

8) Press the "Enter" key to begin the reformatting process. The process takes a few minutes, so be patient. Do not turn off the computer or attempt to stop the process after it has begun, or this may result in major damage to the hard drive.

9) Choose "Finish" and press the "Enter" key to restart the computer. The computer will restart with the original factory settings

I have a gateway vista that's pretty old. I got it cleaned up thanks to a few of you WONDERFUL people. My hubby's was a bit slow too and it was suggested I go to factory reset. I have no problem doing it. He has an asus running vista.
I downloaded a STUPID coupon.com driver to print coupons for my client. I uninstalled it and it still shows up in internet explorer. I heard this is very common. I would just like to reset my computer to factory reset and I can always reload malware and other protectors, my office software, etc.
Problem is I read a few posts on how to do it. Start, gateway, restore.....it asks for administrator, guest, or owner. In the past I have ALWAYS used just a few passwords. It's telling me I must contact the computer administrator. Is there any way around this?

hi,iam having a toshiba satellite windows 7 laptop,i forgot the password which we need to enter when we switch on the laptop,i had no drivers cd,so,i like to reset it to factory settings, please help me...

A:restore factory settings

What's the complete model number of that Toshiba Satellite laptop? It should be on a sticker on the bottom of the case.

Didn't you get documentation on how to do a system recovery back to factory specs?

If you can't remember a password, you should write it down and put it in a safe place, or don't use a password.

Hi,

my laptop was accidently restored to the factory settings and everything is gone. Is there anyway to recover any of my files from the factory setting? Please help!

Thanks

A:Restore from factory settings

Hello Lori, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Since restoring to the factory default Vista installation involves formating the hard drive, the files will most likely be gone. You may be able to take it to a professional data retrieval company in your area to see if they may be able to get them back for you, but it will not be cheap and it may not work.

Sorry,

Shawn

Hey guys, newcomer here

Anyways, I've had a Toshiba Laptop for a while now with Windows 7. Over time, I've installed lots of software I don't really need. So now, my computer is pretty slow to start up and the general speed has had a significant drop. So instead of taking time to uninstall all the programs I don't need (which will still probably leave me with lots of dead links and a very messy registry), I decided it would be better to just do a clean install. However, being the cheap dudess Laptop manufacturers usually are, Toshiba has not provided me with a Windows 7 install disk, and being the lazy guy I am, I did not create a system restore disk when I got the Laptop. I looked at the Microsoft backup programs, but my restore points only go a few months back. If I don't find a way to start with a clean state on Windows 7, I may just have to dig up that old XP CD

TL;DR: I need a way to restore Windows 7 to the point as if it was just after a fresh install without a Windows 7 CD or prior system images/recovery points.
Thanks all, cheers!

I have a Gateway GT5654 desktop running vista.
I want to recover my system to factory settings using the gateway recovery console.

I choose recovery from gwr console and it ask if i want to reboot. i say yes, computer shuts down and restarts. i see the gateway recovery pop up and then ask for a password.
there is a drop down menu there also where you can choose guest, administrator, user

It is already set on administrator
If i just click enter it says system has been locked by administrator.

I have never put in a password on this computer. i checked in my bios but no password is set.
I checked users and no password there either.

A:Restore Factory Settings

Better check the manual. Maybe there is a default one.

There may also be a setting in the Gateway settings inside Windows about whether to password-protect the recovery.

270Jimmy Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! To answer your question, a factory reset restores the PC to its ORIGINAL OS because that is what is saved in the Recovery partition on the PC when it is first created. However, trying to do that now using HP Recovery Manager is almost certainly NOT going to work -- because the Win10 Upgrade is know to corrupt the HP Recovery Information: HP Recovery Manager Blocked After Windows 10 Upgrade - HP Support Forum - 5170752 To do a factory reset NOW, you will need to order HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks.  You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update".  If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. I've got a Gateway laptop that is not able to boot Windows, so I'd like to restore it to factory defaults. I've looked at the tutorials here System Restore - How to Do in Windows 8 and here System Recovery Options - Boot to in Windows 8. It seems like the only options that I can find on these pages for restoring a non bootable computer is to boot from Windows 8 installation media. Is that correct?

If so, will the generic Windows 8 installation media allow me to access and restore the factory image?

I've tried the old F8 while booting method to boot into Advanced Recovery Options but, as I've read before, that no longer works.
I also tried Shift-F8 that I seem to remember reading might work, but that did not work either.

Or is there some other way to access the factory image on a non booting computer that I am missing?

Thanks

A:Restore to factory settings

If your laptop came pre-installed with Win 8 then go into "PC Settings" then go to "General" and mouse down to "Remove everything and reinstall Windows." This will then return your system back to the beginning when you removed it from it packaging. . . .Good luck.

A:restore to factory settings?

you can set it to bios default by either moving the jumper on the cmos reset from pins 1 & 2 to pins 2 & 3 for a few minutes, then returning it to where it was. /OR/ the same is accomplished if you remove the motherboard battery for a few minutes, then return it to it's original position. Don't forget to ground yourself before working in that case and always unplug from the wall before doing any operation in that case.

My dad gave me this older laptop, it's  a HP Pavilion Xt512 the OS is Windows XP, I do realize that this particular PC and OS is not supported anymore, BUT is it possible to just reset this thing back to the factory settings. It will only be used for my kids, to play games on and what not, or do homework. I have tried the F11 thing, nothing happens, I have also tried going in to the Disk Management, and there was no Partition for HP recovery, so that didn't work. Also, there is no option for 'System Recovery" or "PC Recovery" I don't have any discs for it. Is there anything, anything at all that I can do??? Thanks all

Hello!

I have recently had some serious problems with my computer, so I figured I should do a restore to factory settings, but I have also been having problems with that.

When I try to do it from the control panel, the computer restarts, but instead of the recovery options like normal, it gives a Windows boot error: 0xc000000f. I ran the Windows startup repair multiple times from the disk, but it still says the same thing.

When I try to do it by pressing F11 repeatedly during startup, it does the same thing.

When I try to do it from the Recovery Management section on the Repair Disk, the option to factory restore is greyed out.

I have access to my desktop, but it is extremely slow, so I prefer not to do anything involving that, but any ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Restoring to factory settings is a good idea, but before that, back up your user dara and other data (documents, music, movies, pictures etc) externally.
