Can't resize pictures with XP resize image wizard anymore

Q: Can't resize pictures with XP resize image wizard anymore

Somehow I've lost the ability to right click on an image file and resize it. I used to be able to right click on a file, go to "send to", "mail recipient" and have a wizard pop up that would allow me to resize images for the email.. but no longer. I don't think I've installed anything lately that would compromise this feature, but who knows... I've tried downloading and installing the image resizer power toy from MS, but it doesn't seem to register and I don't get any options that allow me to resize images if I right click on them...

In any case, any help someone may have would be very helpful...
thanks.

I recently installed Windows Xp professional on my Pentium III, 766 Mhz, 256mb memory. Everything works out fines however i just find out that I could not resize any picture as I normally could(with other PC running windowsXP Pro) when I right click any picture in My Pictures folder. With this PC, when I right click a picture, there's no option for me to RESIZE. I have so many digital pictures copied from my 5.0 mp camera, but without this RESIZE option, it's almost impossible to send any of these "large" pictures via email. i have tried to look for help on HELP AND SUPPORT on windows XP, but I couldn't find the answer to this.

Please help me to make this RESIZE feature available. Thanks.

A:Can not Resize any Pictures

Install the resizer powertoy (That is probably what was on the other computer---resizing is not usually there):

Or, use Irfanview to resize to any desired size:

Hi everyone- I once asked a question on here and found it very helpful, so I thought I'd try again with my next problem. I just got a digital camera and am beginning to understand simple tasks like downloading the pictures on to my computer, things like that. I was wondering though, what is the easiest way to resize the pictures so that they aren't huge, taking up tons of room? Do you have to have special software, or is there anything on my computer that can automatically do this? My camera did come with software, but it has no features to resize pictures. And if I do need special software, what should i get? Is anything free? Thank you so much!

I DL a program you guys suggested a few months back. It put a link in my "right click" box to resize my pics. You hold the mouse over the pic, right click it, and a box pops up that gives you pic size options. My Dad wants to use it, but I can't find it, it's name, or the original thread! Help, please!

P.s I did try the irfan view, but it is just too complicated. Thanks!

Hi,
I used to manage to select pictures in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, click E-Mail and select what size, it would then put them into a Outlook mail ready.
The problem now is it does not do this and I cannot find out why?
I can add the pictures manually via Outllook, but then they are too big, unless I edit each picture seperately

Any ideas??

Hello to everybody,
after resize the 2 volumes of my workstation that uses a raid-0 configuration with the mini tool partition software i am no able to boot the system. The system has a 100 gb primary partition and a 350 gb secondary partition that i have reduced in order to
give more space to the C drive. Everything goes well, but after 2 days the system crashes and after that the system recovery starts automatically (because there is a system recovery partition inside my hard disks). The startup recovery cannot resolve anything,
it works for days and i have to shut down the pc from the power button in order to end the startup recovery. After that i have tried with the windows 7 dvd: this gives me the following results:
-repair action: File repair
result: failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken=19329ms
-Repair action: Boot configuration data restore repair
Result: Failed. Error code 0x490.
Time taken =187ms
-Repair action: System restore
Result: Completed succesfully. Error code = 0x0
Time taken = 5203008 ms
The system restore doesn't work even if it is shown that it has to be succesful and if i do it manually the system cannot restore the system at the previous restore point. Then i have tried with the bootrec in the command prompt, trying to fix the mbr and
the bcd, but also this options doesn't work for my case.
I if list the volumes inside the disk with diskpart i see that the c and d partition are marked with a rebuild flag in the status bar.

A:Resize received email pictures for forwarding

Not without losing image quality.
Resampling images is easy (many freeware image viewers/editors will do it), but the long and the short of it is that the program doing the resampling is adding pixels that don't exist; so the larger the image is resampled, the worse it will look.

I've got an image that I want to get printed through snapfish on 8x10 paper. When I print the image, as is, it get's cropped and doesn't look good. I've been doing some reading on printing digital images to standard photopaper. (aspect ratio's etc). For the image I want to print I'd like to resize the entire image to fit to 8x10. I'd like to do this by having whitespace on one side of the image and physically. trimming the photo. I'd prefer not to crop. The image just doesn't look good cropped.

I have irfanview, no access to photoshop. It seems like this is pretty easy to do in Adobe PS from tutorials on the web. And playing with irfanview it seems like this should be possible as well. However when I try do it. The image quality is too low for even a 4x6 print. So I know I'm doing something wrong. The stats on the original image are in the 1st attached screenshot jpg.

In irfanview I do the following
1) Select Image Resize/Sample
2) Set new size (to inches)
3) Image size is 27 x 28.56 (see Picture)

4) I change it to 8 x 8.46 (Irfanview's calculation with preserved aspect ratio) (see Picture)

5) I click ok (with resample)
6) Snapfish says image resolution is too low. My plan is to have 1.5 inches of whitespace on the long side and to physically trim the print.

see the last attached jpg for the IV stats on the processed picture.

What am I doing wrong? Or is it not possible to resize the photo and retain image quality.... Read more

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone can help me please?
Is it possible to resize a file to 8x10 (300 ppi) without losing some of my image? I have tried setting the ratios to 8x10 but when I use the rectangular marquee tool or the crop tool and drag out the box the shape is cutting off a lot. The image was taken at close range so I don't have any room to move. I am using Elements 9 to edit.
Many thanks for any help.

A:Can I resize a file to 8x10 with out losing some of my image?

not unless it was taken with the same aspect ratio - otherwise you will change how the subject looks

in elements you should be able to set 10" x8" height and width and aresolution 300dpi in the crop tool and then use that - and the correct size will be shown

I am talking about the image that first appears before you log in. I have Photoshop, yet it seems whatever I do it crops the height. I am not concerned with the width but what the entire height. My resolution is 1920x1280.

Also, my screen saver consists of images, of which some of them are being cropped as well. What is the max width & height in pixels I need so I get no cropping>

Thanks!

A:How do I resize opening image to display entire height?

Is 1920x1280 your native resolution for your monitor? Meaning, is that what it's official rating is?
If so, then that should be the resolution, why it is cropping, I would not know, that doesn't make much sense.

However, I have an image that I am using for my lock screen that is 1920x1080, but my native resolution is 1600x900
I do not get any cropping.

On the screen saver, if you are using the Photos screen saver, it should resize them to fit the screen

You may need to reinstall or update your video drivers.

Also, have you done any tweaking to your system? Made any changes at all? Reg Keys, customizations?

Hello,
I have this page with an image & two text fields for the user to put in new width and height for the image(it changes dynamically on losing focus from one of the fields using "onBlur"). below this there's a submit button that calculates prices based on the size the user has set and shows it in a table.
Now here's the problem: no matter where i put the image in the page, if i put values that are very far from the existing value (like putting 300 instead of 10 in the width field), the button changes its place before i can click on it because of the image resizing, and so i need to click the button twice. any idea what can i do?

From the GUI one can specify that a picture should not become larger as a result of the resize. However, I can not find such an option between the command line arguments.

2) Is there a good Irfanview site/forum somewhere?

I have a ton of pictures. I also have a laptop I have "converted into a digital picture frame. Lastly I have an 8megaspixel camera in which I take all my pictures at the highest resolution possible.

Now to keep the pictures straight I keep them seperated by directory named month and by year I.E. 08-05 then I have all the pictures in there. if its an important event I have a sib folder just for that event name it and place the pictures in there.

So as you see your talking about 5+ years of large pictures in multiple subdirectories.

I also have some pictures that are archived that we ourselves did not take.

I don't want the small sized pictures to be raised in resolution (thus making them ugly and pixelated) I just want all larger than 1024x768 pictures sized down to 1024x768. This is a one time thing so I would like to not pay for it if I don't have to.

Anyone know of a program that can do this?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe you can do this by using a program called "CutePDF". Here is the link to the CutePDF website: CutePDF - Convert to PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Save PDF Forms, Edit PDF easily.

There's a free version but I am sure that's limited as what you can do. It's possible that you might need to get the Professional version in order to print PDF files in bigger size.

Hope everything works out well for you.

Been working on this for 2 weeks now and it's finally starting to get to me that it is impossible to do what I want to do. I have researched a lot of ways to do it, but it either is a failed process or, I'm just not doing it right

What i want to do is get my other icons (such as my Adobe, Ventrillo, Final Fantasy XI) to show up as they are like my Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and Mozilla Firefox icons. Here are 2 images to show what I mean.

For some odd reason, I just can't find out how to get the icons I want to resize the way the want them to. The icon "Media2," I did in Adobe Photoshop is a .bmp format image saved with the file extention .ico . Can someone help me out please? Oh, and I would also like to be able to resize them the way Vista does under my file directory as I am also having the same issure in there.

A:How do I resize these icons...?

Hello Elvaan, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Unless the icons for the shortcuts are using a 256x256 bit icon, they will not display to the larger sizes that you want. That is why you see the box around the icons when you have the View set to large on those. You can read more information about Vista icons at this link.

Hi people,

This is my first post on this forum so please bear with me!

My question is:
I have a new notebook and I have used windows bit-locker on the C drive. My notebook didn't come with a TPM chip so I used a work around to get it working by using a flash drive with the keys installed on it, so I just plug the stick in at the boot process for everything to load up successfully.

However Ive installed VMware and its taken up a lot of space on drive C. what I want to do now is allocate some of the free space on the D: drive to the C drive, if that makes sense?

Just to clarify my D: drive has no bit-locker encryption on it, but my C: drive does.

Want I want to know is can i just use a partition tool to give the C drive some more space or will this cause problems as its using the bit-locker software?

Also if I can do this, whats the best partition tool to use?

Many thanks in advance,

Carlo.

A:Resize Partition

I have no clue as to what the final result is supposed to be...but it seems to me that simply moving appropriate data files is much simpler in overall impact...than resizing a partition.

Hi!

My computer is currently outfitted with a decent harddisk (eagate Barracuda 7200.11 3.5IN 500GB SATA2 8.5MS 7200RPM 32MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive)

When I first installed Vista I allowed 100 gb for my C: drive (where I have program files and such) and the rest to a D: partition for Data.

Now I would like to increase to size of the C: partition (taking the space from the D: side).

Testing around, I managed to get the D: partition to shrink. I can get to Expend back to that space. But i cannot figure how to assign it to C:

Attached is a screen capture of my Disk Management Screen..

A:Partitions Resize.

It will not work like that. The unallocated space you created is not on the same side as the C:, There is no way to have it work like that.

If you can find a way to shrink the D: and have the unallocated space to the left side of the D: than you can expand the C:.

I'm setting up a W10 computer for a friend. It's an HP all-in-one which has the motherboard, hard drive etc, inside the 23" screen. The res is 1920 x 1080, or 16:9.

I'd like to configure her display to look like my 24" 1920 x 1200 (16:10), but I can't see how.

I don't much like wide screen monitors, even with a 16:10 format, so I have my Taskbar positioned at the right of the screen. It's loaded with 4 columns of shortcut icons so it's about 40mm wide. This results in the remainder of the screen being compressed to the left, so that it's even squarer than on a normal 16:10. In other words, the desktop display abuts the Taskbar.

I've tried doing this on the HP 23" but instead of the display abutting the Taskbar, it's visible behind it. In other words, it's not affected by the width of the Taskbar.

There must be something obvious I'm missing on the W10 computer that would enable the result I want but I don't know enough about the OS at this stage. All I can think of is that the Taskbar is still set at the default Aero-type semi transparency, whereas I've disabled transparency on my own display and set it to Windows Classic.

Anyone able to offer an insight?

Thanks for reading

A:Display - is it possible to do this resize?

some of those all-in-ones supports that 1900x1200 but not all. so if you have drivers installed it should do it by just switching the resolution? if it doesnt support, you prolly have to use some 3rd party drivers to shrink/stretch the picture as you want to

I have Windows 7 64 bit and it has worked fine for a long time. Recently I installed a new program and I got the message that I could NOT run the program because I was low on memory for C drive.

My Hard Drive is partitioned into three partitions C, D and E.

Is there anyway I can reduce the size of D drive and add that reduction to C drive??

Help is appreciated.

A:Resize C Drive

I'm afraid not, I believe that in order to change partition sizes, they must be deleted then reformed. You'd have to backup all the data and then format the hard drive - not a good idea.
Did you get an option to change the installation path when you installed the program? If you did, you could just change it to the partition with more space on it.

Alternatively, you could try changing the program file installation directory so new programs are installed to the partition with more space in it, and then uninstall the program and reinstall it. This would be complicated though as you'd have programs on each partition.

Hope this helps,

Mark

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with 2 gb of memory. The hard drive is 1TB with four (4) partitions:

C 25 gb with (12gb used/13gb free)
D 25 gb with (1gb used/24gb free)
E 440gb with (26gb used/414 free)
F 443gb with (182 used/161 free)

There is zero unallocated space.

My goal is to (without a complete reinstall and repetitioning) increase the size of the C drive so that I can use Virtual PC to install Windows XP on C drive. For this I need to add 25 gb to C drive. I would like to use space from the E drive.

I do not know if this possible or not. If it is, I would like some guidence on how it can be done.

First you will need a partition software... you can move the the 1GB from D to a usb drive and merge C and D together then you can creat a new 25GB partition in E and move back the 1GB from the usb drive .

My father-in-law's videocard is fried (Dell Precision M90... so I already know I need to cook the card at 200' C for 10 mins for it to work right again, but I'm lazy!) and now only does 1800x1200 resolution. I am using an Outlook plug-in to send SMS messages to everyone for Newyears Eve, but the plug-in only show partially in the window. Maximize is grayed out, border won't drag, double-clicking title does nothing...

Does anyone know how I can force the window to maximize? Or know of software that can do this?

Any help or pointers will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance and please keep it simple as i am not much of a expert at this stuff

A:Can't resize my Partition

A "picture" (e.g. screenshot) of what DISKMGMT.MSC shows for your hard drive would be very helpful.

Depending on the physical layout of the two partitions on your drive, you many need to "move" things around as part of your goal to resize things to add some additional space to your Win7 partition.

Note that EACH OS sees itself as located on "C" when it is booted, but sees the other partition as a different drive letter (either D, or E, or you say B... whatever it initially was, or what you changed it to using DISKMGMT.MSC). What we really need to know though is the PHYSICAL layout of things on your hard drive, in order to prescribe an approach to accomplish what you want to accomplish.
I'd suggest you download and install Paritition Wizard (free) Home Edition v5.2 along with its standalone boot CD which you can burn by downloading this ISO file. The program itself runs under WinXP, Vista and Win7, so you can see drive letters (per the installed OS under which you run the program). But mostly, it will present the physical layout of the drive, which is what we need to see. A screenshot from PW would be helpful, although one from DISKMGMT.MSC is fine as well.

The standalone Partition Wizard boot CD is for emergencies, disaster/recovery, and for partition-related operations that cannot be performed while the Win7 operating system is active but must be run while standalone booted. It is very possible that you will need to use this standa... Read more

I just got Windows XP about a day or so ago, so please excuse my ignorance, I'm really new to this OS and if my question seems basic, well, it's cos it is.

I'm running in 1024x768 on XP Home edition, and this morning when I got up, my icons were large and I have no idea how to make them small again.

Could someone tell me how to make them small again ?

Hello,

I have still images that I have exported from FCP. Originally shot on HDV tape, the stills (or screengrabs) look compressed. Is there a default size I should reset them to in Photoshop to make them look normal?

Currently, they are this size:

Pixel Dimensions: 1440 X1080 Document size: 19.997 X 14.998 inches

Resolution: 72.009

I'm assuming by unchecking the "constrain proportions" box I can manipulate them, but am wonderng if anyone knows what I should resize them to.

Thanks in advance.

A:How To Resize HDV Screengrab

Depends on what you mean by "compressed" ????
I'm going to guess that you mean the width looks shrunk by ~20% .. a wide screen 16:9 ratio is being displayed as (was changed to) 4:3

Working on a copy, So you don't mess up the original .... (setting the aspect ratio back to 16:9) ...
Try setting the width to 1920 x 1080 pixels (Resample Checked > Constrain Proportions unchecked > Bicubic Smoother)

1440/1080=1.33 (4:3 ratio) 1920/1080=1.78 (16:9 ratio)

The document size (inches) is determined by the resolution dpi (pixels/inch) ...
With the Resample Unchecked ...
You can change the physical size <> or the dpi .. To what ever you want without changing the picture.

This is kind of a trivial problem compared to some here but it is driving me crazy. My computer crashed in March and I took it into the shop. They reloaded Windows XP and put on sp2 (which I couldn't do because I needed too many things to get it and would have lost my Roxio CD Burning software.) I used to have WMP8 and now they put on WMP 10.

I am still trying to learn how to use it. The problem is when I am watching a video, it goes to the full screen and I can not get it smaller, either by choosing view 50% or using the little arrows to shrink it. It just stays full screen even after a reboot. It will not budge using the little arrows and I end up doing a system restore to get it back to 50%.

Now on the view menu, video size both fit video to player on resize and fit player to video on start are both checked, also 50%. is checked. Should one of these or both be unchecked or is my problem something else. Thanks, Darlene

A:WMP 10 resize problem

OK the first one is to resize the video when you resize the screen size of WMP. The other is to make WMP fit to the video specifications. If you want to resize it, click on the middle button on the top right (looks like one box over another). This will allow you to resize the player by going to the edge, click and hold and drag it to your specifications that you like.

- do you deliver to Alberta ?

looking at your source code, noticed that the embedded swf objects (icons) are set to 100x100 size even though your tables are all set to relative (ie %) sizes
-> your tables want to resize as the window changes but can't go any smaller than the fixed size of the objects/icons

using relative sizes for tables will keep the perspective but only to a point - any fixed size objects, graphics etc won't change

you can try:
- changing your monitor resolution to 800x640 when designing to help you see what it'll look like at smaller resolutions
- using a primary table to hold everything on the page with a relative size of 96% - 100%, with smaller nested (ie inside) tables to hold and place the text, graphics, etc
- try animating the wineglass icons instead of using swf files ( smaller, faster to load, people without the shockwave plug-in won't get annoying messages )
[note: maybe use the swf wineglass file just once, at the left of contents/nav lower frame, then other animated or static icons for the specific links - it's a great dancing wineglass]
[GIF Works is a great source - you can animate a gif online for free, plus they have lots of other media]

just some thoughts for you

I've been doing some stuff with quicktime on-line and I'm struggling getting it to work with IE (works ok with FF and Chrome.) Admittedly I've cut and pasted a bunch of stuff. The so called 'production' stuff has a lot going on but I've cut out as much as I can to demonstrate the issue. This is a QT video clip which I want to be able to re-size. What I'm showing HERE is an enlarged version which in IE the picture doesn't enlarge to fill the enlarged space. It works with FF and Chrome but not IE. I could probably reduce some of the javascript for this example but I use it for other things in determining timing aspects of the video. Thanks for any suggestions.

Can anyone tell me what else can I do?

Is this possible? I see that the window edges cannot be dragged to enlarge them. It would sure help my aging eyesight to make the standard calculator about twice its size.

A:Resize calculator

I'm afraid not. Even if it would allow you to resize the window itself, it would require that the various controls (buttons) would also be resizable. I found a program called Sizer that allows changing the calculator's window size but the buttons and display boxes still stayed the same size.

You could temporarily change the screen resolution which would make the calculator bigger on the screen but that isn't a particularly elegant solution.

You could try searching for an alternative 3rd party calculator that is resizable but I personally don't know of any.

OK here's the story. I created a dual boot after installing linux, then I deleted it and the partition leaving 20 gigs of free space.I want to return that space to my windows partition. Is this possible?I played around with partition magic but got no joy.

A:Resize Partition

Generally, if it's adjacent to the windows partition you can merge them. If it's not next to the windows partition, then I'd discourage it and suggest that you just format it and give it another drive letter.

The reason for not merging non-adjacent partitions is that it requires many steps from partition magic to complete. And each step introduces the opportunity for errors to occur. It's been my experience in the past that operations such as this will corrupt data - so I recommend against it.

I'm aware that Partition Magic is good for resizing partitions, but is there any freeware available which can do the same thing? My C drive no longer boots (device error???) so I used the XP startup disc to create a D drive and boot into that. I was then able to copy important files from C directly into the new drive. The problem is that the C drive is partitioned to use 95% of my hard drive. I'd like to be able to change this percentage and make the D drive larger. I hope this makes some sense. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you have [Files]{free space}[files]{free space}. The last free space being 40 GB. And depending on what the files are the standard windows defrag won't always move them. If they are in use and locked by a program it won't touch them. You'll likely have to boot up to a utility to do it and not run it from Windows. I'm not that familiar with the Mini tool so I can't tell if you are running it from Windows or bootable media.

I have the issue that my C: drive is pretty much out of space, I keep getting low space warnings and I've tried moving everything I can to my D: drive. Basically it's a 1.5TB disk with C: and D: partitions. I'd like to take some of the space from D: maybe 100GB and move it to C:. It seems very hard to find a tutorial to do just that.

I feel like I can do it in Disk Management simply by shrinking D: by 100GB (or whatever) and then extending C: by that same amount but I want to be sure that I can do that without losing any data. I need this computer for work (and for play). Is there a straight forward tutorial on doing this somewhere? Thanks.

A:How to resize C: partition

There is a flow in your plan. It's that pesky 350MB recovery partition because you cant extend or merge to D: with it in the way. It could be done only with adjacent partitions.
I don't know haw you ended up with so many recovery partitions. Normally only one is needed.
