Cannot get online- Receive: Error 619: specified port is not connected

Q: Cannot get online- Receive: Error 619: specified port is not connected

Hello!
I was hoping I could get some help for my daughter's computer, which is my old work computer.

Win 2000
Pent III, 790 MHz
128 MB Ram
(yes it's old, but she's 9, and she likes it )

When she tries to dial up, she receives the Error 619: specified port is not connected. It will dial, verify username and password, register user, and then it disconnects with the above referenced error.

It was working fine last night. The only thing she did, that I am aware of, is to remove the cable from her comp, and attach it to the phone so she could call her friend. This morning she plugged it back into the comp, and has not been able to connect since. We tried it in both line ports in the back of the machine, to be sure, but I know it is in the correct one, because it's the one it has always used. Any assistance would be GREAT, and as always, I appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance-
Vixen

So I'm trying to upgrade my ssd from 32 to 120 gb. I bought a 120 gb ssd (2.5" SATA III) as well as a SATA III 2.5" to USB adapter. After cloning everything from my current drive to the new one, I attempted a boot from the USB, however when I tried to boot I got a frowny face and the error INACESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, windows then restarted and booted from the default (32 GB) drive. Any ideas?

I have the game port microsoft sidewinder precision pro, force feedback, and some ch product flight sticks. I bought this brand new sabrent 6 channel 5.1 sound 3D pci card with a game port. Windows XP pro saw the card and installed the drivers. I hooked up the sidewinder went into the control panel to the game controller box. Search down the list and clicked on the sidewinder. When it loaded up I got a message from windows that it detects and is installing the sidewinder, but when I go to the controller box it says it is not connect. Now I triple checked to make sure it was connected properly with both joysticks. I checked to see if there were any updates for the sound card driver and the game port driver, no new updates, and the device manager shows that both are working properly.
I went into the BIOS to disable the on board sound, but that didn't help.
So anyone here know how to correct this? Looks like no matter what joystick I hook up I get the "not connected" error. Help!

A:New Sabrent Sound Card w/Game Port "Not Connected" error

also I would like to add that I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but no change. Could it be some IRQ sharing conflict?

My wireless has been working flawlessly for quite some time when one day, out of the blue, nothing but problems. I can connect to my router and when I run ipconfig I get a 192.168 IP so I know that I'm connected to the router and I get replies when I ping google.com or yahoo.com but when I open a browser I get a connection error. I don't think its a browser problem however because neither Firefox or IE work and extensions for Firefox such as weatherbug get connection errors as well. I am running Windows XP Professional SP2 and I have a Intel PRO/wireless 3945ABG card in my laptop with the most current drivers available.

I have suddenly gotten this on my main computer. (Windows XP)
A previous techguy thread (expired) said to check my dns numbers with "jpconfig /all"
However, my computer will not allow me to run that program in safe mode.
Is it a bug issue... or will that program only run in full mode?

A:Firewall Settings HTTP (port 80) HTTPS port 443 FTP port 21 error message

Dear mulebit,
It actually is " ipconfig /all " i.e replace" j"with "i".Please go to command prompt under Start--> Programs-->accessories. No need for "safe mode" to carry out this task. Can you kindly provide details of your computer specifications? Are you using a third party firewall and if so which brand? What security software are you running?

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings > Proxy server > Advanced. Delete the proxy server settings under HTTP, HTTPS (secure) and FTP (and Socks, if any). Then, under Proxy server, uncheck all boxed.

If running Firefox too, disable proxy server.

Hello all. I was talking on skype and lost internet connectivity while talking. I received the error above (Firewall Settings HTTP (port 80) HTTPS port 443 FTP port 21 error message). I am running a laptop with windows XP and IE 7 and my antivirus is AVG and I also have Ad-Aware.

I'm not much of a computer person but I did some research online and tried a few things: I turned off the option on skype's advanced settings for it to listen on Port 80 and then rebooted. I also ran a command, 'netstat -aon' and did not find a listing of 1270.0.1:80/443 or 0.0.0.0.80/443 which seems to imply that nothing should be affecting port 80 or 443.

I also downloaded firefox and it cannot access the internet either. The only way I'm able to access the internet at the hotel I'm located at was to call the hotel's tech support and they had me go into the LAN settings of internet options and manually select port 8080.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

Some info on common ports used, http://www.chaminade.org/MIS/Articles/Fire...ortSecurity.htmI don't know much about connectivity problems...but it seems to me that...if you never had this problem before and your system connects properly outside of this hotel...the hotel/location may be the problem.Worth a read, IMO: http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-37752-c...on-the-internetLouis

this is a brand new DELL latitude, and this problem only recently started up.
i tend to like to test my connectivity a lot, especially when I'm on the wireless and need to find out when the connection dies (our wireless router has issues, but that's another story entirely..). so, i open command prompt and type in "ping google.com -n 500" and "ping 192.168.1.1 -n 500" to ping both Google and my wireless router until the 500 count has reached, and i view the differences between them (ie, google times out 8 times in a row at one point, yet the wireless connection at the same time is working fine.). so, that's why i do it.

however, problems with the router came up, and we have temporarily removed the router, and i am connected directly to the modem.

now, the strangest part: PING has just decided to stop working. i don't know why, it probably has something to do with winsock or something, i have absolutely no clue. but, the point is, it simply doesn't work. I receive the message "Destination Host Unreachable." as though my network cable was unplugged. but I'm online! I'm browsing google, I'm checking my mail, I'm doing this, I'm doing that, I'm writing this post... more importantly, (that is to say) my network cable is indeed plugged in.
now why would it do this? I've ran countless scans, I've made theories regarding all sorts of **** that has frankly turned up nothing. i scoured Goog... Read more

Hi, I am starting a business and would like to use my Verizon wireless home phone to send and receive faxes but Verizon said I can't fax with that service. Would I be able to send and receive faxes online using the Verizon line or would I have to get another fax line? I have Comcast cable internet and an all in one printer that has a fax machine built into it. I don't even know if I need a phone line at all for internet faxing. Is there anything new in windows 10 that has to do with faxing because I upgraded to that recently?

Hi,

I use a Compaq CQ50-110 laptop with a built-in Atheros (sp?) Wi-Fi card, but since Saturday night I have been having troubles connecting to the internet.

I thought at first that it was my ISP as they are VERY unreliable, but my brother's computer is linked directly to the modem and it is working perfectly.

Then I thought it was a problem with my Wi-Fi card, so I decided to try my old Belkin wireless adapter to see if it could pick up a signal.

It couldn't.

In 'Connect To', it says I am connected but cannot access the internet. I have tried all of the suggestions but so far, they have done nothing.

Little help anyone?

P.S. I've tried connecting to my next-door neighbour's router, but the same thing happened.

This is an ongoing problem that, while frustrating, usually resolves itself after a bit. No so today. My laptop connects to our wifi network just fine, but when I open google chrome (or any other browser) it gets stuck 'Connecting...'. On the bottom of the screen it says 'Downloading proxy script...'. I can leave it indefinitely and this doesn't change. Using ping commands to open a webpage doesn't work.

Usually restarting the laptop works (not usually on the first go, but eventually). Often the computer takes an exceptionally long time to shut down when this happens. The odd time restarting doesn't work but for some reason running Rkill does. According to the report there's no malware issues, the only thing it really says is *Windows Defender Disabled. Today, nothing is working.

A few other devices in the house are connected to the same wifi and running fine. I frequently use this laptop with a wifi network elsewhere and don't encounter this problem there.

This may well be a problem that is well beyond my puny computing ability, but any suggestions would be very welcome!

This is a recurring problem and I'm not sure how to permanently fix the problem. When connected through an ethernet cable the computer will connect to the internet no problem. Everything seems fine until I go to open IE. Page Cannot Be Displayed comes up everytime. Last time this happened I ended up restoring the entire computer back to factory. If possible I would like to not have to do that again. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but here is my problem: My computer is connected to my home network (through a wireless connection) but internet explorer acts as if there is no internet connection. Everything else that involves an internet connection (such as checking my outlook e-mail or playing games) works fine but I can't actually get to the internet (for example, no images display on my e-mails and every url I try comes up with "IE cannot display the webpage"). The real kicker is that all other computers on the network work perfectly fine so I'm guessing its a problem specific to mine. Any feedback would be a great help.

A:Network said connected, but can't get online

The 169 address indicates you're not getting a DHCP address.
Try connecting with an ethernet cable first, and run your setup again.
You'll probably get more help if you ask for this to be moved to the networking forum.

I'm new to this forum, but I have a little experience with PC's. I recently got a N150 USB Network adapter, and it connects to the internet just fine, but after a random amount of time, my youtube videos will stop, or i'll get kicked from a server, and my chrome won't load anything. I open up CMD and run a ping on google.com, it says it timed out. Strangely enough, it says I still have a connection, and my steam and skype still work (for chatting) any and all help is appreciated, I'll add more info if needed.

Welcome,
What security software is installed and when was the last time you did a full scan of your system? Are both your OS and security program current?
Thanks

I'd been surfing the 'net for a while, left it to do some work and then returned to surf again but found that neither Firefox nor Thunderbird would connect. I tried IE and had the same problem. The router was displaying a DSL signal. Windows was declaring I was connected. Windows Repair stated that it couldn't repair my IP address (what's new!). It seems I'm connected - but not online. A second PC connected to the same router via wireless can't get online either. I can dial-up, no problem. Where do I start?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, problem solved. I rebooted the router several times and it eventually kicked in. Please delete the post.
A:Solved: connected - but not online
Glad you got it sorted. Let's leave this here and just mark it solved. It may help someone else with the same problem.
Ok so on another computer I have a netgear wg111v2 wireless usb adaptor. It shows connected to the network, signal strength 100%, and yet I cannot acess anything online at all.
I tried releasing and renewing the IP, and it said the hardware wasn't connected. I tried repairing, that didn't work. Restarting, plugging the adaptor into different slots, nothing worked.
I also tried another usb adaptor, my Buffalo usb. Same deal, connected, but can't get online. What can I do to fix this?
Hi,
My problem is that we moved house and had to wait for our new internet to be connected in the meantime I used my iphone to tether but now that we have our internet connection back my laptop won't work with wireless. It says it's connected and excellent strength but when I try to open a page it says Page Cannot be Displayed.
I know it's not the router because our PC and PS3 is connecting fine, and I can connect to the internet on my laptop via a ethernet cable. My drivers are updated and when I run a check it says the device is working properly. The IP address is correct and I have the correct SSID and Network key. I don't know what else I can try. I have contacted my internet supplier and the ran through everything they they could think of and nothing worked. Any suggestions !!l
It's been a year and I still can't find a solution
Thought I should mention that I have reformatted my laptop as well thinking that, that may be the problem but it still didn't work.
I previously had a thread but it was closed you can view it here to see what I have tried already http://forums.techguy.org/networking/955092-laptop-connects-wireless-but-cant.html
If you are still using the Atheros wireless adapter,
Here is what we know about this adapter.
Seems to boil down to encryption or drivers:
Courtesy of ETAF and Terrynet on the Networking Forum:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Atheros AR5007EG & AR5007
We have recently been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapters over the last few months, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and windows Vista.
The adapter gets an IP configuration, and shows as connected, but communication is non-existent or sporadic.
Log into the Router and disable the wireless security and see if you are now able to connect to the internet and surf OK.
--- Please post back here if that works or does not work.
Here are a number of possible solutions
--- 1) In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and "update driver." That apparently has worked for some posters.
--- 2) Download and install the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site support section, as some manufactures, appear to now have a working driver available.
Toshiba - update has worked for some PCs
HP The latest HP Atheros driver dated Sept 2010 has fixed the issue - so check the driver date, However, that does NOT apply to all HPs / Compaqs machines
- the poster did an online scan for driver updates on the HP website here HP Product Detection which resulted in a solution. Solved: Can't connect to internet wirelessly - Atheros ... Read more
      I have a fairly new DTV tuner sitting around that is no longer needed, I was wondering if I were to connect this to my PC via a USB capture device would it work?  I am full aware that I could purchase a TV tuner that would accomplish what I want but I already have this tuner here and have access to a capture cable, Lastly... what capturing software would you recommend using? (preferably free) I'm running Win 7 if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance!
* I just wanted to add that my plan is to only watch the OTA channels with this set up (if it will work that is} I have no plans to actually record any programming at this point.
I just purchased my first USB 3.0 drive. It has the blue bar in connector of the USB cable. I have plugged it into a USB port that also has the blue bar in the port. And then I boot the computer, and a message pops up that I would get faster speed if it was connected to a Super Speed port. Searching the internet, I find that "super speed" means USB 3.0, leading me to believe that somehow, that the device is not using USB 3.0, even though I have double-checked that the port has the blue bar, and also checked the motherboard docs to see where the USB 3.0 ports are (and that I am using the proper USB 3.0 port).
So more searching of the Internet. I see some people recommend a utility called USB Tree Viewer. This also seems to indicate my drive is not Super Speed; or is not connected to a USB 3.0 port.
What else do you suggest to resolve this issue? How can I confirm that I am getting the benefits of USB 3.0 here?
A:Is my USB 3.0 Drive really connected to USB 3.0 port?
I had a USB 3.0 problem with my Gigabyte motherboard. My Gigabyte motherboard has 3 USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard (for front panel connections). Two out of the Three ports were defective and either gave me the message you are getting about "faster speed", or the USB 3.0 drive would connect and then Windows would flash a message that the drive needed formatting. I got a return authorization from Gigabyte and sent it back for warranty repair. The returned motherboard (it looks like a different board) works OK with USB 3.0.
My machine is a Pentium D, intel motherboard DQ965GF with 3 gigs of ram; XP Professional; 2 serial ATA hard drives totaling 160 gigs; networked with linksys router and wireless access point to a laptop. The other computer on the network is a Dell 4600. The Dell has been working fine for four years with a linksys powerline bridge. We had a thunderstorm and the Dell lost its connection. I tried many things, including resetting all equipment. Nothing helped. I then plugged the Dell into a Linksys wireless bridge, using the wireless access point, which got the Dell online for a day and then stopped. Today I replaced the motherboard's built-in adapter with a linksys adapter. The Dell now shows that it is connected, but we still can't get online. My computer has had no problems. Does anyone have any ideas about where to go from here?
Or, if it does, it doesn't stay online. The problem computer is a Dell desktop using a wireless USB adapter. In the past, in different houses, it has never had a problem getting online. Windows 7 troubleshooting has not been helpful.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Try another USB WiFi adapter if you're sure you have the right drivers for it onboard.
Also check your router is set for compliance with A,B,G,N - or whichever WiFi protocol(s) the USB adapter offers.
Upgraded my laptop from windows vista to windows 8
everything worked fine on vista it Was just slow, 8 is much quicker but having an annoying issue
Internet worked fine for about a week until I started watching shows online and using a lot more data then suddenly I could no no longer visit sites or use web based programs even though 8 says its still connected to the internet
If I restarted my computer it would work for maybe an hour then would happen again it seemed like if I deleted my cookies it would work for a longer period of time. If i reset the router or modem it would work for a bit as well. it has gotten so bad it stops working after about 30 seconds of usage now but after clicking my wifi connection and clicking reset estimated usage I was able to get about 20 minutes
If I plug into Ethernet into it instead of wifi it works for a while then has same issue I've also tried it on 4 seperate networks all were using the same model router ive since upgraded to a better router issue stays the same
Ipconfig sees the gateway and has an ipaddress but if I try to ping out or even to ping the router itself it times out
Reinstalling windows 8 started the issue over could use the Internet heavy at first then progressively less as time went by
No antivirus software, disabled firewall, disabled protective mode, all updates are done, did the netsh winsock reset
A:Internet shows connected but can't do anything online
This problem is usually caused by winsock or the TCP/IP stack being corrupted.
Run the following two commands "just the part in bold" one at a time, use an elevated command prompt, reboot your machine after running the commands.
If you are still having problems after that please post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all form this machine.
Code:
netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
Code:
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)
My Dell laptop running windows XP cannot access a web browser even though it appears as if there is a connection that is working. Explorer diagnostic shows WinSock status ok, Network adapter identification ok, but there are errors saying "Could not make an HTTP connection, Could not make an HTTPPS connection and Could not make an FTP connection. I do not know what this means or how to fix. Any ideas? Thanks!
A:cannot get online though supposedly connected via wireless
I don't understand what "access a web browser" means.
Let's check your connection ...
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)
Type the following command:
IPCONFIG /ALL
[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
My computer (an HP Pavilion running Windows XP Pro) has no problems connecting to and then using other wireless networks not in my apartment, but when I try to go on our wireless, it tells me I'm connected, the signal is amazing, etc, but I can't actually get anywhere online. But when I'm plugged in to the router, I have no problems accessing the web. The other computers (Macs) in the apartment have no problem accessing the wireless in the same spot as my computer, and accessing the web.
We just installed a new router because we were having problems with the old one. (The new one is an Airport Extreme.) However, I was having this problem with the old router as well.
I saw a similar question to mine posted earlier today, but I checked my wireless properties, and I have checked off (and it's been checked off) the option to optain an IP address and a DHCP server automatically.
I called HP and they had me do the usual - unplug the router, the modem, restore manual settings by hitting F10, make sure Windows Zero Configuration (I think that's the name) was running. Nothing doing.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edited to add: I saw another post with the same problem, and successfully reset my Winsock to the default, but when I tried resetting the other thing (the TCP/IP settings), it didn't show that it had worked, it simply started another prompt...
Hi,
I'm having an issue with my USB 3.0 port. Recently, whenever I start my laptop with my external HDD connected to the USB 3.0 port then it will be stopped at the start up black screen. The only way to solve it is disconnecting the USB 3.0 port then wait until Windows finished loading then connect it again. It only happens if I use USB 3.0 stuffs to connect, not those using USB 2.0 standard such as my mouse or old external HDD.
I tried to check the registry and update driver for my lap but the issue remains. Anyone encountered this problem before?
A:Windows can't startup with USB 3.0 port connected.
Is USB 3.0 enabled in BIOS?
If you plug in this same HDD to a USB 2.0 port - does it do the same thing?
Just bought XPS 13 (9350) updated to latest BIOS 1.3.3.
When I connect USB-C to VGA adapter - in a minute left side of PC starts to overheat, fans starts spinning intensively and battery forecast drops from 13 hours to 1.5h..
I don't even connect a monitor to the adapter, and not connected to OS, as this happens logging into BOIS as well..
If I unplug the adapter - in 30 seconds PC cools down, fans stop.
Is this a normal? It seems I cannot even connect a projector without plugging PC for charging during 1.5h meeting.
I saw some similar issues with XPS 15 here http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19676323/20899854#20899854
Anyone faced something similar? Or my device is somehow broken?
I've been experiencing issues with my internet connection on just one of my computers over the last 4 days.
From time to time, my browsers stop loading web pages, and then start working again on their own.
Restarting the computer or the modem/router doesn't solve anything as I do this everyday.
I'm positive that the problem is in this computer, as the notebook I use (also connected through the LAN ports) never experienced this issue.
Using Windows Troubleshooting during the issue showed the DNS problem. (Screenshot in attachment)
This issue hasn't stopped any current downloads or connections (i.e., streaming a video, downloading or uploading anything).
The only thing that I can think of is it might be related with this fix that I used a few days before this issue started, otherwise I haven't done any other changes or installed any new software.
Windows Update - Reset
In another website I found someone having a similar issue, they said it might be related to a Windows Update: KB2705219, I've tried uninstalling it but this didn't solve it.
Anyone has an idea of what can be caussing this?
System:
Running Windows 7 64 Professional w/ latest updates
A:Intermittent DNS issues with PC connected through LAN port
Try using Google DNS.
Google Preferred DNS = 8.8.8.8
Google Alternate DNS = 8.8.4.4
Before you change to Google DNS please keep a note of the Existing DNS so that if need be you can revert back. These are IPv4 addresses. If you are on IPv6 then you can get those addresses too on the Net from https://developers.google.com/speed/...dns/docs/using.
Good luck
Because I have a problem with my burner being installed and working properly but not showing up in the my computer folder. So, I'm checking to see if the jumper config was set wrong?
A:How can I tell if my dvd burner is connected to the primary ide port or secondary?
I don't quite understand what you are asking but I will try to help. To tell if your DVD burner is on primary or secondary, go into your BIOS (on most PCs is F1 or DEL on bootup) and look under IDE devices. It usually tell you there unless you have some wierd OEM motherboard.
You can also see your jumper settings in the BIOS.
Hope that helps!
I have a sata 3.5? internal hard drive, on which I created one extended partition. In order, it contained a 1.7Gb Linux swap partition, 3 ext3 partitions for 3 linux operating systems and another ext3 partition for my data. Later I removed the first 2 linux partitions, filling their place with a new linx system. I then tried to burn a 1.7Gb iso file to my USB stick. However, it wrote the contents to that old hard drive.
I don't know if the original swap partition was bigger than the contents of the burned iso file.
I connected the drive to my Vista 32bit netbook via a usb port. The Disk Management software listed it as 'not initialzed'. Right-clicking it I tried to initialize it but it says the drive's not ready.
A:How to get a sata hard drive connected to a usb port?
I am building a htpc but cannot seem to get windows to install onto my SSD.
The SSD is visible in BIOS and on the 'where do you want to install windows' screen.
I am wondering if that is because the OS cannot install to my mobos sata 3 ports
I have
crucial m4 SSD 4GB
MSI H61MA-E35 with usb3/sata3
The sata 3 ports are ASmedia according to the manual.
i think i know where this is heading and will be fairly annoyed if so because i bought this board specifically for the sata 3 boot drive option.
Help me out!
EDT, i am in ACHI mode for both the sata 3 and sata 2 ports
A:Unable to install win 7 64 on ssd while connected to sata 3 port
So the question is
Is it better to install the OS on
the sata 2 intel ports in AHCI
or
the sata 3 ASmedia ports in IDE?
Hello,
I just bought a TECRA Z50-A-12X with HI-speed replicator replicator III 120.
It works but the computer is not stable and I'm afraid it will eventually damage the port see me problems when using.
Indeed, the PC is not properly seated in the replicator.
Is there a solution or did not have this application?
Thank you for your reply.
good day
A:Tecra Z50-A-12X isn't connected properly to Port Replicator III
Hi
Please don't understand me wrong but you should clarify this with Toshiba directly. Here on this forum you can hear some useful opinions and comments but I think you should get right info from Toshiba directly.
What you can also do is to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. You can visit ASP and demonstrate how it works and I hope you will get professional opinion about this issue.
Long time ago I had Tecra notebook with port replicator and it was properly in place and really fixed in port replicator so there no danger of damaging small port placed at the bottom side.
I've got my laptop connected to the wireless network in the house, but I'm unable to browse the internet. In fact, the only thing that I've been able to use the internet for is Skype, and I've no idea why. Having browsed various forums, I've attempted to resolve the problem. I've tried using the Google DNS, which didn't work, used the flush commands for the dns, tried resetting the router and the modem and setting up the network again. I've also deleted and setup the network on the laptop again, but to no avail. Wondering if anyone could lend a hand, just ask and I'll provide whatever details I can. Other laptops in the house are connecting to the network fine, both of which are using Windows Vista. Thanks in advance ^^
I have a new HP laptop with Vista installed (not an upgrade). I can take my laptop wherever and connect to wireless networks with no problems. Lately, I can no longer connect directly to a wireless router or cable modem with an ethernet cable. I keep pulling a 169 address when wired. I have tried a known good cables, different modems...same results. I'm hoping my ethernet port is not bad since my laptop is less than a few months old. Any suggestions on what to try in the meantime? I think I've explored all the easy options.
A:I can connect on any wireless network, but can[not] get online if directly connected
If you right click on the modem icon in the system tray, connected directly by ethernet, and select "diagnose and repair" does it tell you anything?
If you open a command prompt (start > run: cmd and determine your router address by running ipconfig /all can you get a response by pinging it, for example:
ping 192.168.1.1
(yours may be a little different).
Have you tried removing and reinstalling the ethernet drivers?
If removing and reinstalling the ethernet drivers does not resolve things -- it's time to talk to HP about warranty support.
My HP Compaq Notebook runs on Windows 7. The Device Manager shows two network adapters, one being Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n and the other being a Microsoft virtual WiFi miniport adapter.
When I look at HP Support Assistant it indicates that the Microsoft adapter is not connected. I do not know if this information is or is not correct, but if it is could somebody kindly tell me :
a) Can two network adapters be operative at the same time and if they can would the Notebook work any better?
b) If the answers to (a) is yes how do I go about connecting the miniport adapter?
c) If the answer to (a) is no does it matter which of the adapters is connected?
Thank you.
A:Why is the Microsoft virtual mini port adapter not connected.
I also have endured the saga of the Dell (in my case a fully maxed 9350) flaky USBC/TBolt port.
I had a TB15, but eventually sent it back. Although fully capable personally, I refused to extensively modify a fairly expensive device that should be working.
So, I tried a WD15, only to have it be as unstable as the TB15. The TB15 had the incessant display disconnect/connect problem, as well as Ethernet issues. The WD15 would repeatedly disconnect/reconnect any USB3 devices. The P&P tones were maddening.
I discovered that a USBC to USB3 hub would also disconnect/reconnect incessantly. A USBC to Ethernet dongle was unreliable. The only thing that seemed stable was a USBC to Ethernet dongle.
The various driver and BIOS updates incrementally fixed issues. Finally 1.4.4 seemed to give me stability. But.... I had to put the machine in airplane mode to have any stability when the WD15 was connected.
Reading here, I ordered an Intel 8260 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module and replaced the Broadcom card. After figuring out the problems with switching modules, I now have a properly working 9350/WD15. I have put it through it's paces with various combinations of airplane mode on/off, docked/undocked, etc, etc and I am close to pronouncing I have this fixed.
One note: you have to thoroughly remove all Broadcom drivers, etc. This includes the Widcomm stack.
I strongly advise Dell - and those reading here to ditch the Broadcom POS and install the Intel 8260. They are only ~ $25
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 running on Windows Vista 32, my router modem is a Motorola SURFboard SBG901. About a couple of months ago on this computer, I wasn't able to see that I was connected online either from the bottom right icon on my task bar (it just shows the two computer monitors with an "x" , which when you highlight over it tells you "Not Connected, You are currently not connected to any network.") Neither can i see it on my Network and Sharing Center, which states: "Not connected- Wireless connections are available." On the network map it only shows my computer and then the line which has an x on it. If you click on the x, or select diagnose and repair from the task bar, it informs me nothing is wrong with my computer. Hi, as the title states I cant play online games. Such games include Dawn of War: Dark Crusade and Age of Empires: The Conquerors, I also cant play LAN. Its odd because 2 weeks ago I was playing AoE lans with my friend and now they dont work. Same goes for DoW, last year I had no problem playing but now I do... When it tells me I cant connect in DoW it says something along the lines of this; "Unable to connect to host, please check your firewall/port/router blah blah" etc. I read in the AoE forums and people had similar problems playing online, and they said to port forward. So I got PFConfig and my port/router yoke wasnt listed, and I cant update the list so I really cant do anything. Who can help me, please?
CDMA software requires a COM port to communicate with a cell phone. I'm using HW Virtual Serial Port v3.1.2 (single port, standalone install).
I have a separate modem and router. My Win8.1 PC is hardwired to the modem. Windows firewall is off. Windows Defender is off. Motorola Mobile Drivers Installation 5.9.0 is installed (directly from Moto's website for my phone although Win8 is not listed just Win7. I did not install in Win7 compatibility mode.). My Motorola Droid Razr HD is running stock 4.1.1 ROM. It is booted into BP Tools. WiFi is off. USB Debugging is on. It's connected as MTP (media device). Stay awake is on. Modem, PC, & phone have been rebooted. There are no errors in Device Manager for the Motorola USB Networking Driver.
In IP config, the IPv4 address for the Motorola USB Networking Driver is 192.168.137.1. In HW Virtual Serial Port under Settings tab, I unchecked NVT Enabled. On the Virtual Serial Port tab, I selected Port Name=COM10, IP Address=192.168.137.2, and Port=11008. When I select Create COM, COM10 is created and I can see it in Device Manager but I get a LAN status error (in HW Virtual Serial Port app). So something is not right. In Network & Sharing Center, I see it's an unidentified public network with no internet access (IPv4).
I'm at a loss on how to fix this. Anyone know what I'm missing? Thank you in advance for the help.
Then suddenly one day three weeks ago we can no longer send mail. Receives fine, but sent just piles up in outbox. On both computers.
My wife uses Outlook Express which generates this error:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.3web.com', Server: 'smtp.3web.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I use Opera, which generates a similar, but more generic error. Thunderbird fails similarly.
I can't telnet to smtp.3web.com from inside my network, but I can from an external unix shell account. 3web swears there is no problem on their end, although their teir 2 support have yet to call me back.
I was running Zonealarm, which I have since uninstalled. I now am using just the XP native firewall (and my router). Have tried turning off the windows firewall AND bypassing the router (just for long enough to see if it worked) (It didn't).
Updated to the most recent firmware for the router. No change.
Reset the router to factory defaults. No change.
Hi there
I've noticed that when I connect a USB2 external drive to a USB3 port it actually performs better than when even on a "Hi-Speed" USB2 port. -- transfer rate from USB2 to HDD is around 10 - 15 Mb/s faster than when on a USB2 port.
I have two USB3 slots on my computer -- I have a Targus USB3 powered hub connected to one of the ports and connect the USB2 disk to the USB3 hub.
If you have any legacy USB2 disks it's probably worth connecting to the USB3 port --seems in my case to work much better.
Not sure if you mix USB2 and USB3 disks on the same hub though -- might try that later.
Hi how are you connected to the internet, is it directly or do you have a router?
If you have a router you will have to do a port forwarding on it, to your ip address.
If you are connected directly you will have to call your ISP, and have them open the ports.
I have tried to connect the device to the desktop machine but how to read a specified file which is on desktop location from here.
A:Reading/Writing data from/To Handheld device which is connected through serial port
Do you want the device to read a file from the PC or the PC to send a file to the device? These two approaches are fundamentally different.
If you want the device to read that file without user interaction, then you have to write a special device driver or a monitor program that would listen for requests from your device and provide the file.
I have two PC interfaced USB multimeters of same model (MASTECH MS8340 B). For my research work, I have to record voltage and current simultaneously with time with these two multimeters (as this is having data logging options). One meter assigned to record current in PC and the other one record voltage in PC. Operating system: Windows 7, 64 bit. When current measuring multimeter alone is connected to a PC via micro USB-USB cable, it records current as expected. And similarly, when voltage measuring multimeter alone is connected to PC via micro USB-USB cable, it records voltage as expected. But if the two multimeters are connected to a PC in two different USB ports, and if the program is opened to record both current and voltage data, it shows an error says ?Port error, Port already open?. The point is both meters are connected in separate USB ports. Now to record the results I am using two computers one for each.
Is it possible to connect the two (same) USB multimeter devices in a single PC? Kindly post solution.
Thank you and Sorry for the detailed text.
The point is both meters are connected in separate USB ports. Now to record the results I am using two computers one for each.
Is it possible to connect the two (same) USB multimeter devices in a single PC? Kindly post solution.
Sorry for the detailed text.
Thank you
With kind regards,
Hi, thank's for taking the time to read this. I have just installed a Belkin router in order to use Xbox live and the internet at the same time. The internet is working ok - although I have noticed the phishing icon is taking longer to check the sites. But the main problem is when I open outlook express I get the message 'your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible cause for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity'. I have disable my Norton Antivirus but this makes no difference. I did turn on my Windows Firewall but then turned it off again incase that was the problem. Any ideas why I can't receive my email? Many Thanks
