I have 3 print queues that are retaining the printed jobs in the queue and every now and again the damn thing prints all the job again. I have checked that the keep printed jobs button is NOT checked/selected, but the queue acts ilke it is selected to keep printed jobs. I have 125 printer queues and only 3 act like this and they are set up identical to the others. I have reconfigured this twice on all 3 and they still act like they are set to keep printed jobs in the queue.
Anyone seen this and know of a solution, on the Microsoft site I am seeing posts but not a single reply about how to either run a job to clear them out a couple times a day or fix this so they act as configured. To NOT keep printed jobs in the queue.
Any help as always is much appreciated.
The race to solution is on, let's see who can figure this one out first.

I dont know if i've got this in the right forum but i've got a WinXP Pro Machine so thought i'd try it here.
The problem is that my print queue seems to retain the print jobs although the print jobs have already been printed out (i've seen it retain jobs from 5 days ago). I happens from all sorts of programs.
My PC is acting a print server (ie, the printer is connected to my PC via Parallel and i have shared my install of this printer).
In the print queue, the status indicates "sent to printer" and Pages "x/x - eg 3/3" however the print jobs remains in the queue and do not disappear unless i manually do a "cancel". If i were to turn off and then on the PC, all these print jobs will print out again without any user interaction.
So, can anyone tell me if this is a driver issue or is it something to do with the printer or Parallel port configuration.
As far as i know, i've got "bi-directional support" selected but i'm still to find out what modes i've got parallel set to eg. EPP or ECP or both.
Any help would be great. thank you.

In Vista, one print job (the last) on a Lexmark will not delete from the queue. No new print jobs will print out. If there are more jobs created, they add up in the queue. I'm trying not to uninstall and reinstall, this has happened frequently with this printer, albeit with an inexperienced user. Please help. TIA
What happens when you try to delete it? Error message? Long, long delay?
This should be an easy one, but I've been banging my head against it for a week. I'm hoping I've just been looking at it to closely and someone can take a look from a different perspective, smack me on the back of head, call me an idiot, and point to the obvious solution.
I'm trying to fix a home network. It consists of one desktop computer, two laptops, and a printer. The desktop is attached to the router by a cable, and has the printer, which is shared, and the laptops are wireless. Everybody is running Windows XP Pro, and this is Lexmark Z45 inkjet.
The problem is with printing. It worked until about a week ago, but now when the laptops send a job to the printer, it just sticks in the queue with the status of printing. The desktop can print, so it doesnít seem to be the printer. The laptops can see the printer, they can connect to the printer, they can send jobs into the queue, but then they just sit there.
Iíve reinstalled the printer on the desktop and the laptops, Iíve downloaded new drivers, Iíve restarted the services, Iíve attached to the share using the computer name as well as just its IP address, Iíve made administrator accounts on the desktop using the same username and password as the laptops use, Iíve made a separate printer account on the desktop and connected using that, and theyíre in the same workgroup.
Iím working on the assumption that has something to do with share permissions, so if anyone has any suggestions I ... Read more

I have two computers one with Windows XP which is networked through a hub to a Windows 98 computer. I have a printer connected directly to the Windows XP computer. The printer works fine off the XP computer. Now the Windows 98 computer can see the printer. It does show up in the printers window from the Start menu and the little symbol underneath does indicate it is networked. However, when I try to print a file from the 98 computer, a little window opens up on the 98 screen idicating that it is printing, but nothing prints. The file remains in the printer queue. Any ideas on how to get the printer to work from the Windows 98 computer?
I have an Access database used on daily basis to enter and print the maintenance work order in a report format. I have assigned a command button to print the required record. On clicking the button in the Form, a parameter query will run asking the user to put the record number to proceed. Once the correct record number is entered in the parameter text box, the report is previewed and the user click on the print button to print the same.
My question is as follows:
Is there any method to find out the record i am going to print now was already printed before? A kind of record keeping for the printed records.
Also, a message box should warn the user saying incase if the record was already printed, ďThe record was previously printed, do you want to continue printing again?Ē
Please tell me a way to perform the above in my Form.
could't you just add a field in the record for printed?
Then if printeed true, show warning, else show printable form.
I've been having trouble getting my computer to print to any printer at all. I am running Windows 10 Home 64 bit on an HP Pavilion p6 series computer.
I have removed and reinstalled drivers, bought and tried new printers, restarted the computer, deleted the print queue (even though there was nothing there) and pretty much tried every other solution that I have found online.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Probably suggesting things you've tried, but..
Have you tried the print troubleshooter?
Settings, search Troublesh... , in the search box type print, search, and run the troubleshooter.
Try Tweaking.com's Repair tool.
Follow the cautionary steps, and select just the printer related repair(s) - there's 1 at least.
Have you checked your default printer is what you think it should be?
(E.g. Windows key + X, Control Panel, Devices and Printers)
This is something that has been bugging me for a while now, and I've been unable to solve this problem. Perhaps someone out there can provide some guidance.
Sometimes, I'm unable to print things (such as online coupons) because I'm told that my printer is set to "Keep Printed Documents." I've tried disabling this setting via the Advanced tab under the printer's properties. However, when I do this, click Apply then OK, and close the tab, the setting automatically reverts back to "Keep Printed Documents". Does anyone know why this is happening? It's sort of frustrating to not be able to set the printer settings the way you choose.
I appreciate any tips/suggestions you might have. Thanks!

I send about 100 faxes, one day a month..I was once able to create the document in Word, 'send to' 'fax recipient', and put as many names from my Office Outlook address book into the send to line as I chose, and Fax would just dial them in order.
I now try to insert say 10 recipients--and the fax doesn't start sending..I check the outbox, and two or three of the recipients are queued (never the first recipient I inserted), and the fax will sit happily for five or ten minutes, then start sending to those in the queue.
If I start over with just one recipient, when I hit finish, the fax starts sending--the faxes waiting in the queue first, as if the new one kicked the others awake.
I uninstalled Norton Internet Security, and that worked...for one fax, then back to the same.
>>Edit: A fax to a single recipient works like a champ--two recipients, about half the time----three or more, doesn't work.

From Windows Answers:
I believe it is a problem with the "photowiz.dll" file in system32. It is version 6.x.xxxx.xxxx. I found an older version of this file, had to change the attributes and permissions of the file to allow it to be changed. I renamed it with an "dlx" extension and then copied a version 5.1 photowiz.dll to system32 and the print wizard works again! The site I got the file from is: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/P/photowiz.dll/5.1.2600.2180/download.html
Try Googling your problem first. Hope that helps
Other than dogging the print preview, and struggling with the size in any pertinent image editing software, has anyone found a reliable way to limit or control the size of a printed web document?
I scanned an odd shaped document, 3x8" to email to myself at another site, and the printed form was big enough for two pages. What a waste.
I print receipts regularly and they, 99% of the time have a "trailer" on a last page that has stuff like web site address or URL, a Secure Website emblem, or other, clearly unnecessary printing. My introduction to Windows word processing (WordPerfect) had, and I still use, a "makeitfit" command. Invoking such a command AUTOMATICALLY when printing from the web seems like a simple, brainless way to conserve paper...it'll give me a fractional font (e.g. 11.9 vs. a 12) and would prevent the idiotic tendency of a printed page to only have the leftward 80%, l which leaves off the important stuff like the prices...(you gotta print landscape to avoid this)
And I thought a computer was to make life easier, boy was I ever misled)
The problem is that web pages are usually coded to make them look good on screen, and that tends to make them "unfriendly" when printing.
Web pages designed for printing do exist, and it works well in those (few) cases.
Cutting and pasting into a word processor is sometimes the only workable solution.
Don't print much multi page output, so am NOT sure when this problem began.
Originally, the pages on my HP DJ855C were printed as expected: page-1 first, then page-2, etc; this resulted with page-1 being on the bottom of the stack. Depending on the application being used, there was often a Print-Order option available for Back-to-Front printing so that the last page would be printed first and then page-1 would be printed last and be on the top in the stacker.
NOW, things seem to have reversed:
If I do NOT ask for the Back-to-Front, then I seem to get it anyway (i.e., page-1 last and on the top). but if I want the original order (i.e., page-1 first and on the bottom) then I must use the Back-to-Front option.
It seems as though the default has become Back-to-Front and then selecting the option for Back-to-Front re-reverses the order and the result is Front-to-Back.
Possibly this reversal happened when I went to Win/XP; possibly it happened with the installation of some piece of software.
Q. Has anyone else had this exxperience?
Please tell me where I might change some parameter to make the option of Front-to-Back actually print the page-1 first like it did originally?
Any advice apprecaited.
Go into your printers and faxes options off of your start menu.
Select your printer, right click the mouse and click on printing preferences.
On the features tab at the bottom there is a option for start printing from last page. If there is a check mark in the box next to it, click there with the mouse and uncheck it and then click on apply and ok and you should be all set after that?
I have searched to find an answer to this problem of faded pictures when printed from windows photo gallery. I have seen a few others having the same problem, but no solutions. I am hoping that someone now can help.
I can print pictures from other software on my computer, from the internet, etc, with great photo quality. When I print from Windows photo gallery they are very light and faded looking. I have made sure the adjustments are for my printer.
It seems that most of the people experiencing this problem had canon printers. Does anyone have a solution to this?
I have found the solution to this problem, you need to untick the checkbox for "borderless printing", this is how to do it:
When you click print, go to Options > Printer Properties
Click on the "Page Setup" tab, then Untick the box that says "Borderless Printing"
I love Myriam the little bunny
Well not sure if this is the right area for this but not really sure what the problem is.
When I boot my PC during the bootup dos stage I hear my PC making noises, it still boots up Windows 7 ok but as soon as I open something I get continious R type accross my screen, If I hit the caps lock it changes from R to r.
Thought it was my keyboard having the R locked down so tried to fix it, no luck. Changed keyboards with my spare one no luck. Disconnect all keyboards no luck.
So where is this R coming from, its impossible to us my PC at the moment as soon as you click somewhere (word, exel, Google etc) an R/r appears.
Any ideas where to start?

The problem I am having is that when I go to print tax return forms from the IRS site or New York Tax Dept site, the form prints "short", that is, the last four or five lines of each page do not print.
You cannot save the data in these forms, they will only save as a blank form. Your only option is to print it.
However, although Adobe tells how to cure this problem ( by clicking File-Print and going down the menu which comes up to "printer scaling", then chosing "print to fit page", this only works if there is a
FILE menu on the left hand side of the page.
In these tax sites, the forms do not have a tool bar above allowing you to chose a FILE menu.
You can right click the mouse and chose PRINT, however it will print a cut off page.
SOOOOOOO ..how do I either:
1. Get a standard Tool Bar to appear on top of the form, on these web site pages, or
2. use some other device or method to print these documents to fit the page.
If any of you are about to suggest right clicking on the printer icon PRINTERS, in the control panel, forget it....my printer does not bring up anything about "Print Scaling".
Hopefully, some geek out there will read this and solve my problem. Thank you. 44 Guy
Every computerized tax form that I have seen...is available at the website of the sponsoring governmental agency...and reflects a printed version option which has resulted in everything being printed properly.
I'm not sure where Adobe figures into tax preparation.
If you are using a 3d-party app to do taxes...then the problem resides with the support for that application, IMO.
Im using access 2010 and there is a print of a report like a certificate whenever needed. My office is requesting me to provide a report of all certificate printed including the date and to whom .
my only way to do this is to force users to enter a field print (yes/no) and from there the query "yes" and the report be printed.
Is there any way to do this without forcing the user to enter the yes/no. field.

I'm new here!
First I would like to say I'm a TBI survivor and I'm a male and 42 years old .
I was purchased an emachine computer with a Lexmark lasar printer,
Whenever I go to print something, be it a web site article or a personal document that was created using Microsoft Works Word Processor. Whatever is being printed my name appears at the VERY top and the city and state printed at the bottom.
I know little about computers so I'm trying to get an answer why this is being printed.
The only thing that I can come up with is MY NAME, CITY and STATE was somehow entered on this computer's Hard drive and is prints it because it's been entered by someone at the store before iyt was brought home and set up for me.
If there is someway that I can delete this info. being printed, PLESE tell me what to do EXACTLY!
That's very strange, it sounds like a 'Header and Footer' has been set up with that info and is in your normal.dot template. (If Works uses such a template, I know Word does).
Try doing a Find (or Search depending on your version of Windows) for normal.dot and rename any found to normal.old. Then test the printing again. If there is a problem you change the names back again.
Whenever I print out an email from someone, the resulting document prints my first and last name (Outook Express) in the top left corner. I would like to orevent this but have searched in the Options and cannot find how it got there or how to permanently remove it. Can someone please tell me. Thank you.
It is using your user name for the header.
You can change this in the account settings.
Not sure if you can turn this off.

I am unable to print pictures completely. I print them from Picasa on HP photosmart C4250. When I try to print, although the preview is correct, the printed result is not. Part of a picture will come out, or the image starts at the end of the paper and is therefore incomplete. Until now, everything worked properly.
Help please. When I used to have Windows XP and lower versions, the printer queue used to be an icon on the lower right corner of my computer screen. But now, where is it? I can't find it.
i could answer better if you said what it you need to do.
I was wondering if there is a website or program that I could use to queue up web videos?
As in one ends the next one begins automatically.
Basically a youtube-like queue service but instead for other websites like NASCAR and Yahoo.
If there is not a website or program that can do this.
Would it be possible to script it in a program like AutoIT?
Never mind let this topic close.
Please suggest me !!!!!!!
I have developed a dll in VC++ 6.0. It has two threads. One thread puts the messages( in the form of strings) in to the queue. Another thread will read the message from the front of the queue. Application using this dll creates a queue in the local machine. This queue is persistent. One more application running in different machine should be able to access this queue and add the message. Later application should not use any socket communication for adding the message in to the romote queue. It will use ADO component for adding the messages in to the queue. Please tell me which is the best queuing mechanism. One answer is Advanced queue of ORACLE. It has some limitations. so please suggest me any other queueing mechanism.
my computer(windows xp home) is connected to the network printer which i share with one other person.
every 30 mins or so, it wont print and print job gets stuck in the queue with just 'printing error'. If i cancel the print job or restart the job, it works for another 10~20 mins then again another printing error. ...
Is there anyway i can configure my computer so it automatically cancels or restarts the failed print job?
this is very frustraing..please help..
I have had my problem for some time and had a work around which is no longer applicable hence I get a white screen where message should be so I don't know what is being said.
My problem started about 6 or 8 months ago on Outlook Express. At that time I was using dial up and changed over to Earthlink.net with their e mail program Total Access. My problem immediately disappeared. One month ago I switched over to High Speed and the person doing the custom install saw I used Outlook Express so he reenergized (non computer word) the program. The custom installer saw my INBOX with about 30+ messages that go back a long way. EACH ONE LINE description was complete, meaning To: xxx,
From: YYY, Subject: ZZZ, and anything else that showns on the ONE LINE.
When I double click on one of the inbox messages I FIND MY PROBLEM! Everything that showed before is shown again, but now greyed out since it has to do with basics. HOWEVER, the text area (where the message should be) is 100% pure white. I have double clicked all 30+ messages and get the same thing,...a pure white screen.
I thought it might have something to do with installing SP-2 on my XP Home Edition BUT SP-2 was installed about 6 months ago and my e mail problem started about 8 months ago.
That is my problem! Can anyone offer suggestions?
Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!
So if I understand correctly, you can send and receive emails ok.
The problem lies in that the messages you receive are blank inside?
If you run your mouse over the inside of the message, does anything show up in the highlighted/selected area?
Perhaps your fonts have a white color?
Are you able to create a new message and see the fonts inside?
Let us know.

Run the following:
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system (32 bit or 64 bit). If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Anything I print off the web or email says "Network + Job Functions" at the top of the page and the date at the bottom. Sure, I've been to websites pertaining to the job functions but I never saved anything with that name. How can it be printing at the top of any page?
If I print a document that I made and saved from Wordpad, not anything from the net, it prints fine with no header. I looked at the printer settings dialog box and it shows nothing with this title.
If you are using IE, at the top of the page click on file and page setup and see what you have under header and footer. You probably need to change those.
I suspect this might be a fairly common problem. Whenever I print there also seems to be a block of about 5 fine lines printed over the text for about ever new line of text. Now I recently bought a new (high capacity) cartridge which costs a fortune, so I'm not too keen to buy another if it is the printer (about 6 years old) which is the problem.
Has anyone else had the same sort of problem?
Try cleaning the print heads, this is the normal solution to this problem.
Other than using View>Text Size, is there anything I can do that may cause the print to be darker? I doubt that I can post this question here but I assume it'll be removed if not.
I have an HP printer, 2540, wireless printer. Works fine.
I started to print a pdf file. Because it was a large file I choose the 'booklet' option, which prints 4 pages on one side, then, when everything of the even numbers (I think, not sure) has printed, you will get a message on the pc telling you how to replace the already printed pages in the printer so it can print on the backsides.
When I saw the first batch I decided I didn't like it. So when the message with instructions on how to replace the already printed paper, I went in the printer's menu, highlighted the name of the document and did 'cancel'. In this printer menu it now said it was 'deleting' the document. But it didn't. I waited about half an hour. I turned the printer off and back on. I closed the document. But still the printer menu said 'deleting'.
I opened the document up again, changed the settings for the printer (as in one sided, normal size) and accidentally hit 'print'. I then noticed that - in the printer menu - the 'new' document showed up above the one that still said it was deleting. But it still didn't print. I went in the print menu again and highlighted the new document and did 'cancel' and it did cancel it.
But the old document is still sitting there, 'deleting'. I can not get past that. Any suggestions wo... Read more
There's a way to force these to delete, if you don't mind a little typing. You need to open a command prompt by running cmd.exe. If you're unsure of how to do that, tell me which operating system you're using and I can walk you through that. This should open up a black window, and you need to type in the following commands sequentially, hitting the Enter key after each command.
net stop spooler
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\* /q /f /s
net start spooler
The first command stops the printing service, allowing you to carry out the second command, which deletes any jobs in the queue. The last command re-starts the printing service, and you can try running a test print. Once that's all done, you can just close the black window.
I have printed photos from e-mails before, but never had a problem with moire patterns. It likely just a matter of the resolution of the email derived image vs the resolution of the printer. Does it happen with every image or just the lower resolution ones from the emails?
I have a problem with my Word documents. When I try to print them, the right edge is cut off. I thought it was my computer or my printer, so I took it to another computer, and the same thing happened.
The problem is in the files themselves. How do I change the files so they function as they used to? This has been the case with more than 20 files, which were made at different times.
My computer used to warn that the form I was using was too wide, and ask did I want to go ahead. I would select yes, it would print, and would look just fine. Now it does not ask that question.
Incidentally, another problem is that my files no longer end with .doc, but now say .rtf. All of my Word files changed in several ways at once.

any other ideas - this is usually a colour management issue and i have fixed quite quickly in the past on other systems - so I suspect I'm missing something obvious now
Wild guess .. Windows 7 software update for the printer ??
I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have a PNG file that exceeds the size of the page, 8.5 x 11, when printed. When I view the picture online it appears that it should fit the paper okay. I resized the file by %, pixels, and measurements (inches). I also changed the paper size to 8 x 10. Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong.
Open a Word document of the desired size and import it there. You can also draw a box on the Word document and put it into there - it will fit. If you don't have Word, try Paint.3 more replies
I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

When i try to print something the documents appear in my print queue then are deleted before they even begin to print, my printer was working fine until yesterday and now this
G'day steviejay, sounds like you have an intelligent printer that is censoring your output!
That is a worry, I haven't seen that problem previously.
You might try having a look in your control panel, system, devices or device manager, with a bit of luck when you scroll down through all your devices you will find a USB printer, (assuming yours is usb) if you open that item you should see something like "this devise is working properly" which is a good start for troubleshooting.
There should be no yellow exclamation marks on this item.
Are you quite sure your print queue in the print manager is being actually deleted?
What kind of printer is it?
The assumption is that it is a PC using a windows variant.
I bought a parallel to usb printer cable to make my HP Laserjet 4L to work on my Vista dell laptop and it worked. Then I upgraded to Win 7 64 bit. Now it won't work. It sees it, installs fine, just won't print. no errors. Can it be a "cable driver" (never heard of such a thing until I started researching this problem) if it worked with Vista? It's a no-name cable, so won't likely have a driver that I can find.
Is there anything I can do but replace the cable?

I've spent the last four hours trying to solve this/use info that's similar to my problem to no avail. I feel I'm so close I can smell the answer is near!
I have a form I use for work that I manually have to fill in 50 times a day with mostly the same information. This is definitely a job for a computer!
Ideally, I would like to open the spreadsheet and have a button that says 'Print' and it will print what I need - 50 forms with the right information.
So far I have done the following:
Created a custom page size (16cm x 14.7cm)
Scanned an original to use as a background so I can line up the information
Adjusted the Excel boxes to print the info in the right place.
Now I need to print the following number ranges as identifiers:
1 - 22, 29-42 and 51-54
I feel I'm close with using this macro:
Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
[copy] = [copy] + 1
I use both Excel 2003 and 2007, depending on where I am!
I have NO experience of macros until today, so any advice is very welcome.

Suddenly I am having trouble printing everything in the print queue. I can print a few things, then it will lock up. I believe it is in my management level. I have followed my manufacturers suggestions which takes me to my Windows XP. It tells me there are 3 levels for print access and usage, i.e. print, manage print and manage documents. I am obviously in the lowest level now, with no control. I believe my level was changed when Network software was installed when I installed MS Office 2003 Small Business. In a business network scenario, only a 'Manager' would have full control of the print queue. In my situation, it is still a 'stand alone', single computer and printer. I have searched for these controls and can't find them.
I run Windows XP Pro on my desktop and Home on my laptop. I have both of them hooked up via a USB hub to a Samsung B&W laser printer model ML-1210 and an HP color inkjet printer, model deskjet D4100. Both printers work fine from both computers, with one infuriating exception!
Whenever something clogs up the print queue, I can NEVER NEVER NEVER delete the offending document! I click on the little printer icon on the task bar and open up the offending printer and select the document that isn't printing and NOTHING HAPPENS! I get the "deleting" message on the screen, but the document never gets deleted!
Just now, I unplugged the entire HP printer, and still no help! Now, I'm trying to print another document, but of course it won't print, because the ^(&()^*(&&)(&ing document I'm trying to delete won't delete!
Which software is screwing me up? Windows? Or one of the printer drivers? I don't know which software is running whenever I click on the printer icon and select a doc to delete, so I don't know which vendor to be mad at most! Moreover, I have no clue how to fix the problem since I don't know whose software is causing it! But, as you can surely tell, IT PISSES ME OFF!
My printer won't print. I checked the queue on my computer and I have this file that says "Deleting" but it will not delete or stop, or even cancel. Now before you guys go suggesting stop the print spooling service, I already did that. several times. I also restarted the computer several times. However every time I go to print this one document, it suddenly pops up with 3 identical documents in the printer even though I only told it to print ONE 2 page document. any suggestions as to what may be the cause would be helpful!
How to cancel printing or to delete a print job that is stuck in the print queue in Windows XP
If a pop-up comes up and asks if Microsoft's Fix It should attempt a repair you might consider letting it run.
I have a document in my printer queue that won't come out. The document won't print, and when I press cancel, it is still in the queue with a message "deleting". I have tried restarting my computer, reinstalling my printer, and disconnecting and reconecting the usb cable.
Is there any way to get it out?
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Stop "Print Spooler".
Navigate to C:\windows\system32\spool\Printers
Erase any pending print jobs.
Go back to services and start the print spooler again.
I am trying to print to my HP PSC2110 All-in-One (USB), but keep getting an error in the print queue (WinXP). the printer doesn't respond at all. i've tried...
- resetting the printer
- rebooting the computer
- restoring the computer to a previous state
- reinstalling the printer with the latest drivers
- cussing & yelling in very colorful language (most effective solution so far)
The printer will print a self test from the printer itself, but anything going through the queue just hangs.
Any help would be appreciated!
You didn't provide the text of the error msg, so can't comment on that.
Have you tried printing directly...not using the print spooling? See if that works.
I've got an item in my Printer's Queue, and it wouldn't print, and it wouldn't restart. I think that if I canceled it and tried again, it would work. However, not even canceling works. The printer isn't actually doing anything, yet it won't cancel. Is there any way I can force it?

I have a HP Deskjet 6127 on a network. A use, cmhill, sent print jobs this morning that all printed fine. The last job she sent, poster, will not clear from the queue so now no one else can print. I've tried purging the queue, restarting the printer, forcing a paper feed, changing the priority - everything I can think of.
Stop and restart Print Spooler in Manage>Services. That should handle it.
I work as technical support for a small charity who have a variety of PCs for use by elderly groups in care homes. There is a recurring problem that has stumped me since I started working here. The problem is that the printers will sometimes stop printing when there is more than 1 item in the print queue but will continue to print normally when the print queue is cleared. Most of the computers have the same EPSON D68 photo printer connected with a USB cable, so I thought it may have been an issue with that printer or the USB connection but another computer with a different printer (I don't have the model at the moment, I think it's HP and connected via USB) is reporting similar problems.
Although it is quite easy to work around this issue by clearing the print queue, this is really too complex for our users to deal with and there is no good reason for why the printer stops working through the queue.
Commonly what is happening is that a users will press the print button in something like IE twice, causing 2 items to spool to the print queue. Most of the time both will print normally but occasionally neither will print and all subsequent jobs sent to the printer will just stack up and to the user it appears that it's broken. The printer will be switched on and will have been printing fine just before and the print queue will state "Printing..." in the status for the top job. To fix all the user has to do is to "clear all documents" fro... Read more
I can not figure out what is wrong. When I turn off my computer in the evening and re-start the next day, the printer automatically adds the documents I printed from before turning the computer off, and places them again in the print queue and re-prints them. I know how to delete items from a queue, but that is a temporary fix. This happens everytime the computer re-boots. Sometimes, the startup screen is not even open before I can get to the print queue to delete those documents. I have tried everything including un-installing and re-installing print driver, turning printer on and off, going thru settings, running a windows error scan. I can't find anything that is "checked" that would be causing this. The bi-directional printing option is turned off as well. Don't know if this matters, but the operating system is Vista 32bit and it's a Vostro 220 computer. Help - This is driving me crazy and I'm running thru paper like crazy, ugh.

My printer has a document sitting in the print queue with the statius as deleting, the job is 14.6MB. It's been sitting like this for nearly a week now. I have deleted the printer and re-installed it. I've stoped and started the spooler and also checked that there is no files in the spooler folder (I was informed that I should delete these if any and that would clear the queue also), but nothing I do is getting rid of the job and I can't print anything else.. Is there any other way to clear this job? Please help me.

My problem began when my Netflix app told me I needed to upgrade it before continuing so i went to the store app, clicked the arrow that takes me to downlads and updates, then clicked "check for updates." I deleted Netflix thinking i could reinstall it but that doesnt work either. When i click install on the netflix app itll say "working" but cannot go to my queue no matter how long i let it sit there. I have tried turning off my computer twice and that hasnt worked. The "Downloads and Updates" page in the store app will not let me click on OneNote or the other app that is trying to update. the other app trying to update or download is Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 runtime package. Im not sure what that is.This computer is relatively new to me so if you know whats going on with it and can help fix it I might need a very basic step by step institution.More replies

I attempted to print a document on 9-12 and it will not print, and I cannot delete it out of my queue. I've cancelled the print job numerous times, I've shut down the computer, I've tried everything and I can't delete this one document. I can no longer print any other documents as well because this one just sits in the queue the whole time saying it's deleting. I can't restart the document either. It was a Microsoft Word document that I was attempting to print.
I'm not sure this is a hardware question, but this seemed the best match. If I was wrong I'm very sorry. Any helpful suggestions? Any additional details that may help I'd be happy to provide.

I was just trying to print a chapter from a book online. For some reason, there was a problem. And when I then clicked on my printer icon, it just said under the status, there was an error. Right at the moment, it says "Deleting - Error - Paused- Printing". See, when I was trying to get it to go away, I think I pressed Pause. And pressed Cancel. But nothing has stopped there. I later tried printing a letter. But an hour later, that letter is the second item in the list, and no activity has occurred. The above seems a mess, right?
"Error" is not what you call explanatory. I tried to check through Windows Help. But it didn't advise me anywhere where you'd check for a proper description of an error. I know computers are capable of it.
So, all I see in the printer window to try is cancel. And has no effect now.
Try Ctrl - Alt -Del and end the process.
If that doesn't work try shutting your printer off, then reboot your computer and see if that clears it.
first , I have windows XP SP2 if that would matter
and my question is :
in the queue option in IDM there is " download # files at the same time " and when I set the number to 1 it should only download one file then after it finishes that starts downloading another one .. just like queue
is that right , or I'm misunderstanding its function cuz it's not working that way .. it always download everything together unless I manage the downloading order manually
any ideas ??
another question but not as important ^^'
I integrated IDM with all browsers and found out some differences mainly between (FireFox,IE8) and opera:
1- both FF,IE have "download with IDM" option in the right-click options , opera doesn't.
2- both FF, IE when catching an FLV content get the correct file name , opera names everything videoplayback.FLV .
any ideas about that as well is so much appreciated , cuz even though I have like 5 browser but I love opera the most .
thanks alot , have a nice day.
for no reason , it's working now ..
really didn't do anything ^^'
so I guess this one is solved , unless any one idea just for more knowledge
I built an NT 4 box and everything seems fine, I built a Printer Queue on the server and have installed HP Jet Admin but still unable to use the printer on the network, I created it using the MAC address and assigned an IP to the printer via front panel, the HP LaserJet 4 is attached to the hub and I can ping it from the workstations and the server.
The printer is in the same subnet.
If I attached the printer to a client I can share it and use but I have to keep the client ON for the others to use the printer,
What I am missing? what about the Printer services if any, Which services do I need to add? And If I need to Add any services, How do I added those services?
I have two PCs on which I have installed Win 7 Home Premium. They are both Dell PCs and I have a Dell MFP1600n networked printer plugged into my router. Everything prints fine, but when it's done printing the job won't flush out of the queue. Since it's in the queue, when I reboot both systems, I get another copy of the document. HOW can I get the queue to empty???
Hope I can help
Go to services. Look for print spooler, make sure it is set to automatic
If that is ok
Turn off printer, disconnect from the computer.
reconnect and turn on
If that does not help reinstall and look for new drivers and do step 2 again.
So while working as the print administrator for a large healthcare company, I had a big wig come to me expressing concern over a "vulnerability" with their network printers. So when he right clicks on a network printer on his computer, he selects "see what's printing" and can see the jobs that are in the print queue for that printer that are waiting to be printed. Now keep in mind, most times you can only see this if there is an issue with the printer not printing, such as if it's jammed or out of ink, or if there are too many secure print jobs eating up the printer memory and backing up the print jobs onto the print server.
We have several users who don't understand that after they send these secure print jobs to the printer, they need to go release them in a timely manner so as not to eat up the memory of the printer.
So his issue is, anyone can select "see what's printing" on these network printers and see the jobs sitting in the queue and can delete any print job from there. I have been looking to see if there is an option to turn that off, but so far I cannot locate anything of this nature. Can you disable the "see what's printing" feature?
Are you certain anyone can cancel somebody else's print job? Or, does that action require admin-level? I'm asking 'cause I want to learn more about this. And, meanwhile, if I run across a utility that might provide an off-switch to that panel, I'll post it here.5 more replies

Hi, From the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and select Sevices. Browse down to the print spooler service, right click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button. Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder. Restart the computer and you should find the document(s) have been removed. Regards, DP-K4 more replies
I had a PDF Creator on my machine, it worked well until it died. I could not find the same one so I downloaded another one. It works well. But my print queue keeps telling me I have three documents waiting to print, but they are for the PDF Creator that does not exist. I can't delete the print queue because the PDF Creator does not exist.
Thats ridiculous, but how do I escape?
XP Home with SP3.
I would start by killing the print spooler service at first then restarting it to try and clear the queue Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Right click Print Spooler > Stop Process > Right click and start process again. If that doesn't work then look through your Add/Remove Programs list and make sure PDF Creator is completely uninstalled, if not, remove it completely. If it is still acting up try to remove the PDF Creator printer port. Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > File > Server Properties > delete port for PDF Creator. By doing this you may need to reinstall whatever application your using for PDF's.4 more replies
Brother HL-5240 laser printer on USB has worked correctly for 3 months. Now it no longer prints, with no error message.
Stopping the queue shows the job entering, but disappearing as soon as the queue is restarted.
I have stopped & started the spooler; deleted and recreated the printer with the latest driver but still no go.
I can print to another USB printer correctly so it doesn't appear to be a spooling problem.
How can I solve the problem?
i want new print queue feature
thats save the print queue items of last one week,
ie we want to reprint something we goto ex-print queue and print from there
instead of opening the word or any other program and then clicking on the print icon
this way we can reprint the file that we printed from the usb or dvd but didnt save it on our computer
Option 2 of this tutorial tell you how to manipulate the print spooler queue - but instead of deleting the entries you could try to copy them. Then you can reset them at a later time.1 more replies

I have a cannon mp210 all in one printer, scanner. When placing actual photos into the machine to be scanned then printed they come out perfectly fine but when I try to print pictures already imported onto my computer they come out very faint/light. The computer keeps saying the ink levels are low which is incorrect as I have just put in new ones. I beleive this is a issue to do with the colour settings installed on windows 7 as our pictures print out fine when the printer is connected to our lap top. If anyone could help me with changing the colour settings that would be great. Thank you
Have you made adjustments to the paper type and print quality?
Greetings, I just purchased an Epson 4490 photo scanner and realized there is no printed user manual- just a very basic bunch of directions. They have an in depth guide on the Epson website but it is not an easy one to download and copy, and I find it very difficult to look online whenever I have a question about using this scanner.
I am wondering if there is anyplace I can get the in-depth printed user guide for this scanner. Printed guides are so much easier for some of us to use. If I had known there was no user guide I would never have purchased this scanner.I am hoping that someone other than Epson might print them, since Epson says they have no printed user guide. Thank you!!
I doubt you would find a printed version available if epson doesn't have it.
The online manuals are usually in PDF format and you can save them
to your computer so you don't have to download it every time.
Just download and open it,then click file/save as and save it to your desktop.
Of course, after that,if you want to waste the ink,you can always print it out yourself.
