Hi everyone

I tried to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail. I used the POP3 settings, got it to work, and hit send/receive. Now none of my emails from my Inbox are in my hotmail account when I use my web login. Why did it do this and how do I reverse it? I tried to find some answers on the Microsoft site but they give pretty generic answers there. The answers I've got here in the past were much better.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

A:Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Try going to Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing accounts > Select your account and click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab. From here there should be a check box that allows you to set whether you want your emails to be left on the server.

Hi everyone. I have Microsoft Outlook 2002 Service Pack 3. Well, I am having a problem with it sending my e-mail. Sometimes I'll click an e-mail link on the web and it'll automatically open the compose new message window. I will then type out the e-mail message and click send. Well, it won't send it right then. I then have to go into the main Microsoft Outlook program and click Send and Receive before it will send my e-mail that I just composed. What is up with that? How do I fix it? Do I not have a certain setting right?

Hey,

When you send an e-mail or receive one from outlook, by default it looks for the person in your contacts and puts the display name up instead.

But when reading the e-mail it displays

John Doe [mailto:[email protected]]
To: Jane Doe

How do you get rid of the mailto:etc, etc ??? I would prefer a hyperlink instead of the mailto because then it reveals the person's e-mail address.

I know you could just hover over it or click on the hyperlink to find out the e-mail, but I'm just asking for the purpose of printing. I don't want my e-mail address shown in a long stream of E-mail send's and replies between a friend when I print it.

If there is a setting in Outlook to turn this off, please let me know, I fooled around with everything and I cant get it to work.

A:PROBLEM: Microsoft Outlook 2000/2002/2003 E-Mail Display

Under "tools/options/prefrences/e-mail options/advanced e-mail options " You can select "automatic name checking" which I think will convert the mailto to a name if it is in the global address or contacts list. I don't know what that does to people you send to I would think it depends on their setting...

I have been trying to configure Outlook 2002 to be able to access my 2 hotmail accounts. I can get one to work, but then when i try to add the second, outlook says it cannot find the hotmail server. I know this is not the case because it can still send and recieve my other hotmail account, so there's not a problem with it connecting to the server. What's going on? Can i have multiple hotmail accounts in outlook? If not, what's another good free e-mail service that i could sign up for that would enable me to use outlook 2002 (some type of POP mail?). Please help. Thank you much.

Hi, I am experiencing a problem when setting up Microsoft Outlook 2007 to connect with an exchange email account. I have created a new exchange account online and upon opening Outlook I am prompted to create a new user. I have done so, and now it asks me to enter my details, which I have done, but it fails to find my account encrypted or unencrypted and so asks me if I wish to set it up manually. So I have gone into this and found the exact information I need, e.g. the exchange server name and user name. These are 100% right, but yet when I click on the ‘check name’ box it gives me the following message:
‘The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.’ It then lets me go no further. On the Internet fine, and I’ve been trying to fix it for days.
It is not my address because I’ve tried to set up other new users and encountered the same problem with their addresses.
Please help if you can, it's getting quite urgent to fix it.
Thanks, Rob

I have Outlook 2002. I want to oversee two email accounts.
However, I want the Inboxes (emails) of these accounts separated.
Each time and every way I try to setup these two accounts, the associated
emails get placed interleaved in the same Inbox.
Some other email softwares allow the separation of the multiple accounts in the left-hand column, each with its own Inbox, Sent, Folders, etc.
Is this too much to ask of Outlook 2002, or am I doing something wrong - or failing to do
something else in the account setup?
Anyone else experience this problem?

A:Setup Hotmail in Outlook

Hi
Try this:
Make sure POP3 is selected under Incoming e-mail server type:.
Type "pop3.live.com" under Incoming mail server:.
Enter "smtp.live.com" under Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name:.
Make sure Outgoing server requires authentication is checked.
Click Next.
Type your full Windows Live Hotmail email address under E-mail username:.
Enter your emails password under Password:.
Click Next.
Make sure “Do not download my e-mail at this time” is checked.
Click Finish.
Highlight the new account in the list.
Click Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Make sure “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)” is checked under both Outgoing mail (SMTP): and Incoming mail (POP3):.
Type "587" under Outgoing server (SMTP):.
If the number under Incoming server (POP3): is not "995", enter "995" there.
Click OK.
Click Close.

This works for configuring to Windows Mail so the settings should work for Outlook. No guarantee as i haven't tried it but worth a try!
Let me know how it goes!

Hello Tech Support! You were of great help to me in the past, so here I am again with an email issue.

I am trying to setup Outlook 2007 so that I can send/receive email from my Hotmail account. I tried adding a new account in outlook, manually editing the settings to use HTTP>hotmail, and it kept saying something about verifying my username/password for correctness. Then I heard about the Outlook Connector, which I guess I need for what I want to do, so I installed it, filled in the info, and now when I open outlook it says something about my network connection was interrupted, try again later.

Could you possibly help?

Thanks,
Jon

Try running scanpst.exe on your Personal Folder. By default scanpst.exe can be found here;
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\<locale ID>

Try renaming outcmd.dat to .old and restart Outlook. All the Toolbars will reset then. This is quite a common problem with Outlook. The default location for this file is:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Try running Outlook with the /safe switch from your Start-> Run window. The command line should look like this (check your path to Outlook.exe);
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe" /safe
When this works run Help-> Detect and Repair

Start in safe mode again and disable all add-ons in Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button Advanced E-mail Options?-> button Add-In Manager?/COM Add-ins?

Start Outlook normally and see it works now. If it does enable them one by one until Outlook fails to load again. The add-on you last enabled is most likely the cause of your issue. Check with the vendor for updates or contact them for further troubleshooting their add-on

Try recreating the profile in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles?

I lost all my data in Microsoft Outlook and switch to Outlook Express. I had a lot of trouble that particular day, and was on the phone for hours and hours with Sympatico in India, they were trying to restore my email settings.
Where could I locate these lost files, such as: emails, contacts, calendar.

I am really new at trying to find missing files. I am now using Outlook Express, but I had so much data in the calendars going back three years, emails and contacts.

I have contacted and written Microsoft with no success. If you can tell me where to look and I found the missing files, could you also give me step by step how to get the info back into Microsoft Outllook.

By the way Microsoft Outlook is on my desktop but I cannot locate the program and files anywhere else.

Egad! I am so new at all this and any help would greatly be appreciate, but remember I am a real novice and locating and retrieving data.

Thanks, Jennifer Pet

At work we use Microsoft Outlook 2002, and one of the computer techs set up a calendar to be shared amongst everyone in our building. I can find the calendar, and I can add it to favorites, but I can't get it to come up as my primary calendar when I cilck on "Calendar" under "Outlook Today" (the tree menu on the right).

How do I select this calendar to appear as my default calendar when I open up Outlook, instead of having to open it via favorites?

Thanks in advance for any help!

A:Microsoft Outlook 2002

Hi Steve.
As far as I know, you can't switch default calendars.
What you can do is add a new calendar which will appear side-by-side with your default calendar in the same window.
In Outlook, click File>New>Folder.
Give the calendar the name you want then select "Calendar Items" from the drop down menu in the "Folder Contains" box then click OK.
Next you'll have to map it to the new calendar's location.
Right click your new calendar and select properties.
Click the "Homepage" tab and use the "browse" button to the location of the new calendar, click OK.
When you open outlook today, click "Calendar" like you normally would. You will see the new calendar you created listed under "My Calendars". Click your new calendar and it will appear side-by-side with the default calendar. You can toggle between the two as well if you like.
The only drawback is that reminders only function in the default calendar.

Hello,

I am using Outlook 2002. I used to be able to hover over a link in an email and the true address would show in a bar at the bottom of the screen. I can no longer do this. Is there a way to see the exact address before clicking on a link? Right clicking on the link does no good as the "properties" choice is greyed out.

Firefox does this but Outlook no longer does it.

Our small company has been struggling with our Microsoft Outlook. It may be a server issue however I believe it is a setting on the accounts set up in Outlook. When I email to folks at my plant from a remote location everything is fine. When they reply to me, I only see a select few come back. When I visit the plant and plug into the network and I open up Outlook, all the emails that never reached me show up in my inbox. Again it's only about 5 people and the other 5 people have no problem replying to me.

We have 2 accounts set up...one is set up as mail..com.cust.securehostedemail.com and the other is labeled Microsoft Exchange Server. I personally utilize the first one I mentioned above because I am not hooked to our server in my remote office. The folks in the plant utilize the Microsoft Exchange Sever when communicating to each other in the plant, but when they do outside email the utilize the "mail....account.

It's been a frustrating 5 months like this. Any help!

A:Microsoft Outlook 2002 Icon - Can't Change It

Hi Izzy, for some reason the shortcuts Office XP creates do not allow you to change the icons on them (It surprises me that you where able to change most of them). What I did to get around this was I went into the Office program files and created shortcuts for all my exe files (sounds like an old TV show doesn't it? ). Then I moved the shortcuts to where I wanted them, changed the icons and renamed them. That solved that problem. Here is where they are located with Win XP Pro and Office XP: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10 The file you are looking for should have the Outlook symbol on it. To be sure you have the right file, just double click on it and outlook should open.

I have reviewed the threads on this forum, but can't find anything that exactly pertains to me. Please help...

I purchased a new Dell XPS with Vista Home Premium x64 which came with Microsoft Mail. My old computer was an XP Home machine running Office 2002, including Outlook. I installed Outlook 2002 on my Vista machine but a known Vista/Outlook 2002 bug keeps having me enter my password everytime I run the program, so I decided to switch e-mail programs to the included Microsoft Mail on my Vista machine.

Here is my question... how can I get all of my archived messages from my XP/Outlook 2002 machine to my Vista/Windows Mail machine? Whenever I follow the directions on my Vista machine, it gives me the error "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client. MAPI is not installed on this computer or an error occured while initializing it." This message occurs as soon as I click on the 'Outlook' selection in the messsaging import dialogue box... I can't even get to the point where Microsoft Mail looks for the archive file to import.

In addition to this, I don't even know what type of file to export my Outlook 2002 messages into: Comma Separated Values (DOS), Comma Separated Values (Windows), dBase, Access,Excel, FoxPro, Personal Folder File (.pst), Tab Separated Values (DOS), or Tab Separated Values (Windows).

I've recently been having problems sending emails from Hotmail in Outlook. It always used to work fine, but then a few days ago I suddenly got the following message whenever I tried to send:
Task 'Hotmail - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC33) : 'Access to the account was denied. Verify that your username and password are correct. The server responded 'Forbidden'. '

I can receive emails from hotmail fine. I've tried removing and re-adding my hotmail account, and I've made sure that my password is saved. If I open up Outlook Express, which I also have but don't use, the problem is the same.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for your help!

I have been having some problems with my computer. I have a Vista and have been getting spammed with postmaster threads in my hotmail with random emails of people that I know and do not know.
And, my mirosoft outlook is also having issues with not sending emails to my hotmail when I compose a message in microsoft outlook but, will foward messages to hotmail. I have already download the microsoft outlook 2007 pk 2 and I have already downloaded the connector download program for the live hotmail live id on microsoft website. I am frustrated about this because I am getting spammed horribly and I do not know how to stop it.
I am not getting my emails properly either. I have already did a IE reset today so that did not work.
Any help would be appreciated. I know I fixed the IMAP issue that I had today on Microsoft outlook, and then when I fixed that I have a SMPT now.

Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for

If you continue to receive this message, contact your

I have gmail in my outlook as well.
I believe have some kind of fowarding or configuation checked off somewhere and I dont remember where it is.
Any help is aprreciated.

I currently am operating ACER laptop and running windows XP.

I've got a hotmail account which is accessible through Outlook, and runs completely fine. I have a private domain email address that is linked to my hotmail account, so both emails to both addresses are recieved in the same inbox - but i want the private domain to be what is viewed as the 'from adress' through outlook?

when i use outlook the 'from' address is my hotmail one.

and when i use hotmail the 'from' address is from my 'private domain' on behalf of 'hotmail address'

I want the private domain set up in outlook, but cant find the options to have that, and link it to the already set up hotmail account.

I run Outlook 2007 Academic version, and mircosoft outlook connector.

When a page I am viewing has an email option, I was using Outlook Express to access my Hotmail to send the email. Microsoft no longer supports this. I have Windows Live Mail downloaded (like they suggested), and I have also gone into Outlook Express, tools, mail, etc. and changed everything they said to but it still will no longer work. I just get error messages. I then tried to put my Yahoo mail address in instead of the Hotmail one. Still will not send. How can I click on an "email link" in a story, etc. and get it to send?

Now basically I have got to save all those email addresses from his emails and move them to his new Hotmail account. Any idea how to do this? I have no idea :/

I have a Tiny computer running windows XP SP2. It had some problems with spyware and Winsock getting screwed but all that has been fixed. However since the PC has been clean I can no longer access hotmail. I can use IE V6.0 to browse the Web quite happily, but when I try to go to the Hotmail website, it comes up saying logging in with Passport and then hangs with a blank white screen. (I can get to MSN.com no probs). I had heard that this might be cause by a cocked up user account so I thought I would try and add another user account and see if that worked. However when I entered control panel and clicked on users it came up blank, even though there are 2 valid current user accounts setup.

Any Ideas?

A:Incredimail and Microsoft Outlook setup problems

Hi Jim

It may be a problem with your configuration of your email account (like the details you have entered may not be right) or that your machine is blocking the email programs from connecting to an outside source - do you have any firewall software running? If so, check the settings to make sure it has Incredimail listed as an 'allowed' program.

Another thing may be the email service porovider themselves - can you access the same email account from another machine?

I've been having this problem for a little while now. When it first occurred, I didn't think it was much of a big deal. I just assumed that it was a temporary problem and that it would eventually go away. Unfortunately, the problem hasn't gone away yet. It keeps occurring. It doesn't occur everyday, but it occurs every few days or so.Here's the problem: Sometimes, when I open Microsoft Word, it won't open. A box pops up telling me that the feature I am trying to use requires me to install it with my Microsoft Word installation CD. So whenever this problem occurs, I have to go get the Word CD and insert it into the CD-ROM drive and it installs whatever "feature" it says that needs to be used.I'm not sure what's causing this problem, but it is very annoying. I upgraded to Office XP SP3 and I also used the "Detect and Repair" feature from the Word Help menu, but none of this has seemed to help. Is anyone else having this issue with Microsoft Word 2002? Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this? I really would like to get this problem fixed permanently so that I won't have to keep having to get the installation CD. I also used the same installation disc to install it on my mom's computer, and it does the same thing on hers also. What can be done to fix this?(Moderator edit: post moved to more appropriate forum. jgw)

"The Works Launcher cannot access the task you selected. Files needed to start the program may be missing, corrupted, or may have been deleted. " (etc.)

There is not much help online for this, and what there is seems to refer back to issues with Norton Anti-virus. Problem there is that I don't have Norton installed on my PC.

Below are some screenshots that show the error i get when i try to sign in.

After I setup the whole account, I restarted outlook. From then onwards whenever I try to open outlook it gives me this error.

After I click OK, it leads me to this window, you can see my account settings here.

When I click OK i get this error.

If i change any settings in the account settings .. and click APPLY then i get this message and Outlooks closes by itself.

The strange thing is that these same setting work just fine with the Email Client in my Nokia Smartphone

Have you used Outlook in this manner before prior to going to Outlook 2010? There are additional settings that need to be configured for RPC over HTTP if that is the way you were connecting before. If it was POP or IMAP you need to configure your connection that way.

Setup for RPC over HTTP. I think you have to do the initial setup from in the office.

I am upgrading lots of stuff here in the office, but I need to keep the inter-office email communications working between the old and the new.

We have a working system with Microsoft Mail Post Office that is located on a NT file server and can be administered from a win98 pc. We currently use this for inter-office email, and connect to the internet for all other email.

I am tring to configure Outlook 2003 to recognize the accounts in the post office using the Exchange Server. I am not able to get outlook to communicate.

The post office does not have a name, just a path to it. I put the path as the name of the Exchange Server and provided a valid User Name. When I "check name", I get an error. "The action could not be completed. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." I get a similar message whe I run Outlook.

How can I get this configured right? BTW, I can see the network path to the PO Box and have a drive mapped.

New PC and OS is WinXP Pro

Cannot connect to hotmail (outlook.com) via Outlook 2007 since Saturday 1st Feb. Message says server not connected. (Normally uses Outlook Connector to connect). Hotmail/outlook.com accounts are setup as MAPI.

All other non-hotmail/non-outlook.com accounts in Outlook 2007 working OK.

Hotmail/outlook.com accounts are accessible via a webserver, and even accessible via Outlook 2007 if setup as POP3/IMAP.

I have many subfolders in the Hotmail/outlook.com accounts that are automatically syncronised when connected, and can be accessed when offline, but are also accessible when accessing Hotmail/outlook.com via the web from another PC. But when setup as POP3/IMAP accounts only the Inbox folder is synchronsed with Outlook 2007.

Can anyone help as to why Outlook 2007 is not connecting to the Hotmail/outlook.com accounts anymore via the Outlook Connector? Alternatively, can all the other folders synchronise automatically if I set the Hotmail/outlook.com accounts as POP3/IMAP?

Thanks. Any help appreciated.

I've been having a problem with outlook 2002 and I'm hoping someone can help.

I use outlook 2002 to access my hotmail account. It worked fine for a while. Now, whenever I click on any of the folders I get the following error:

"The web page cannot be found. This problem could have been caused by a bad or misspelled URL; following an invalid link; or your network connection and/or transient conditions on the internet. To check the URL, choose the Home Page tab on the Properties dialog."

I've tried a number of things... I tried to check the URL but it's grayed out and I can't change it. I've tried deleting and re-adding the email account, and I've done a full reinstall of Outlook.

Also, now when I try to open a link that is contained in the email, instead of opening up the webpage, it opens a file browser called "Locate Link Browser" in "My Documents".

Any ideas? Thanks very much.

A:outlook 2002 problem

I have the same problem with Outlook XP. I have done considerable searching on the net and no-one seems to have a definitive answer. The best work-around I have come across is to increase the server timeout. This will improve the situation, but is not the solution.

The setting is buried deep! Tools > Options > Mail Setup > email accounts > Next > Change > More settings > advanced. Move the slider out to 10 minutes.

It appears the problem is when the server times out, it starts all over again, but the message has still been sent. It is exacerbated by dial up connection and busy server.

Cheers,

Just a small problem.

I am using outlook 2002 and was wondering how to Archive all my emails and all the 15-20 Folders so that i can back them up incase of a crash or incase i get a new computer and can retreive all my emails.

I have a P3 with 256Mb Ram, 15GB hd, Win XP Pro, 9.5 GB FreeHD.

Anyone Help Please

A:Outlook 2002 Problem

I use Outlook 2000 so I'm only hoping the archive procedure is the same.

In Outlook, go to File>Archive. That will open a wizard. Follow the wizard through the steps, named the archive file what you want. You can archive individual folders into individual files or the entire thing (Personal Folders) into one pst file.

Archiving removes the the contents of any folders you archive from Outlook and puts them into the archive. If you don't want the data removed, use Export (File>Import and Export), chose Export to a file, choose .pst file, and then follow the steps. Like archiving, you can back up each folder individually or all in one huge pst file.

I find it easier to archive/backup/save all data files (and I mean ALL of them) into a folder in My Documents...saves searching the harddrive for all the files and folders you want to put on the backup CD.

Am running Win XP Pro along with Office XP SP2. Just went to the Office XP update site and installed the Excel and Word 2002 Update Oct.16 2002, and the Outlook 2002 Update Jan 22 2002.

Word and Excel still work fine, but Outlook will only start in safe mode, hanging at the splash screen if started normally. I tried the trick of renaming the *.dat files noted in some of the bulletin boards, but tis did not help.

I then un-installed Office XP and reinstalled it to SP2 level without the three patches noted above. Outlook still refuses to start normally.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a "patch to patch the patch" for this problem, but can't seem to find the article again. Have also unsuccessfully searched the web and am now truly stuck!

Since Office seems to have reinstalled itself with all it's old defaults, I assume that the un-install programme does not remove registry entries? Any idea if there is a manual un-install instruction set anywhere - I can't find it at Microsoft.....!

Dear Friends,

I have a problem involving my Outlook 2002 PST file. I have had similar problems in the past, typically involving a PST file that had exceeded 2 GB file size limitation. This problem feels different to me, primarily because Outlook opens for literally one to five seconds, and then closes with no error message of any kind (which is different behavior than an experienced with the file size problem).

I've spent the last two days researching this, and it would appear that this is some sort of a PST file corruption problem of some sort. I purchased a software called "Kernel Outlook PST Repair," but the software does not function properly. It scans my PST file and looks like it's repairing something, but when I attempt to load the repaired PST file into a new Outlook profile, not all of the repaired data loads. As an example, I am attempting to recover approximately 40,000 e-mails. Of those 40,000, I am able to recover approximately 400.

More confusing, every time I go through this four-hour process of scanning, repairing and reloading into a new Outlook profile, I get a different end result, none of which come close to recovering everything I'm trying to recover (40,000 emails, 3,000 contacts, 900 calendar events, and 700 tasks, approximately).

ANY advice, help or direction will be very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Maxwell13

P.S. One solution that will most likely work is to switch from Vista to XP on my new computer. How hard is this to do?

A:Outlook 2002 & Vista Problem

Instead of copying the PST file to the new system, use the import from the old to the new.

I would stick with Vista, your work around is NOT that great.

Never had this problem before. Went to backup by Outlook.pst folder and got the following message
"Error Copying file or folder
Cannot copy Outlook: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file."

Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Outlook 2002 Backup .pst problem

I fiqured out what the problem was. A couple of weeks ago I downloaded & installed Copernic Desktop Search which runs in the background. I haven't tried to run an Outlook backup since I did that until today. I have to shut it down before I Backup Outlook.

Hi

I`m running Windows XP Servicepack 2.

I`m having a problem with Microsoft Outlook 2002 (Norwegian). I have 3 mail accounts (POP) registered in the program with username and password. When i want to check mail i hit the "send and check" button.

Outlook always asks for passwords to the accounts even though i have told the program to remember passwords. I have tried to make it remember the passwords by editing the accounts and typed the passwords (I have also marked it to be remembered) and i have tried to make it remember the passwords when it prompts for passwords when im checking the mail.

Every time i shut down outlook, the passwords are gone.

Has anyone got a clue?

Hi folks.
I've been trying to install MS Office SP3 on my laptop (Win XP Pro). I have the original Office disks, but am running outlook 2002 which came free with an ancient Compaq IPAQ. I've given the PDA and disk away, but SP3 asks for the original Outlook 2002 disk and won't proceed without it. Can anyone help with the required file or whatever. I've called Microsoft, but these products no longer exist to them! They won't help. Thanks all.

A:Problem with MS Office SP3 and Outlook 2002

Well, since you gave away your license to use Outlook, you just may have to go buy another.

What version of Office are you running(per your specs you say XP), as Outlook has been part of that for a long time. What you may need to do, is reinstall your copy of Office and Outlook XP.
If I remember right, XP is newer than 2002 or one and the same.

I have been using Outlook 2002 on a Windows 2000 machine for many many years. Recently a single recipient has not been able to receive my e-mails. I receive their e-mails and when I respond the message is in my sent folder.

I am using a POP3 account which is also set-up on my windows mobile smartphone. It seems that I can respond to their e-mails via my phone, as long as my Outlook isn't open, and they receive the response. If my Outlook is open and I send the e-mail they don't seem to get it.

The recipient swears that I am not in their junk folder, etc. I have e-mailed them using a gmail account and no problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it my ISP or theirs?

One user on our network is having a problem where she can't print certain e-mail messages.

In Outlook XP she can't print messages that are in HTML format. I have seen the message saying you have to open an HTML message before you can print it. However, when she opens the message and selects Print from the File menu, nothing happens - the Print dialog box does not open. I have tried using a different printer as the default printer and I have tried removing and re-installing Outlook XP. I saw a MS Knowledge Base article that said Outlook uses the Internet Explorer print engine to print HTML messages in Outlook, so I checked printing from Internet Explorer and it printed without problem. Internet Explorer has the same printer selected as default.

We are using Windows XP Professional and Office XP. Internet Explorer is version 6.

Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

For anybody interested:

This problem went away for some reason two days later. I don't know of any changes, so I don't know why.

Hello. (Moderator. Pls move this post if made in thr wrong place)

I have been using MSOutlook for years with no problems. I recently had a problem with a virus and other members of this fantastic community assisted me greatly in its removal. Unfortunately, there has been a sort of by product to the removal as when starting Outlook or using it to send or receive emails, a further pop up opens advising that it is configuring itself followed by an error code of 1706 and advising solutions to the problem to see C:\Program files\microsoft office\office10\1033\setup.hlp. I've attempted to sort out the problem myself without success so am hoping that someone may be able to advise on a solution to the problem.

Tks

A:Outlook 2002 SP3 irritating problem

Is this the exact error message you are getting?Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\Setup.hlp.If so: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297834seems to more or less apply. It seems as if it may be looking for the source disc or network location if it was installed that way as part of configuring itself. I suspect it needs to retrieve some file(s).Roger

Purchased new Palm treo700 smartphone which came with Outlook 2002. When installing programs for the phone from the included CD, it specifically stated "warning: outlook may only be installed on one computer". PROBLEM: I began installation on my old home computer, outlook installed first, and then the remainder of the programs failed. I ended up getting a new desktop (was ready for a new one anyway), and now tried re-installing. Other programs installed fine, but Outlook is "unavailalbe". I don't know if this is related to the product key already being used. I've been trying to get help from microsoft and palm, and I've gotten nowhere! I've spent countless hours on hold with customer service departments being transferred around and no one seems able to help. Please help! I have a new $600 phone and a new $600 computer, and I can't get them to work together!

This might be a simple problem but i dont know how to fix it. Whenever i get sent a .jpg file from the graphic designer at work i recieve it in my outlook as a .bmp file and that wont work with the program iam using. right now i have just been reformating the images but it would be easier just to have the right image format from the beginning. I know its a problem with outlook because i downloaded thunderbird and the images load perfectly.

Hi, I have been running Outlook 2002 (part of office XP) on my home PC for 3+ years on Win2000 prof. OS. I have never had a problem with it until last night. It began freezing up when I tried to reply to messages. Now it will do nothing at all!

Other applications appear to work fine, although sometimes slow. I have also found my CPU usage maxed out once or twice while having this problem.

Can anyone help?

There is a utility that comes with office to scan and repair your .PST files. Here is the link to the KB article:

Just recently we had a lightening storm in our area - my internet cable, tv and telephone were all affected so I am wondering if my problem is related.
I did have a surge protector and other than the following problem and the fact that my printed doesn't;t work now - I think my computer is working Ok.

Problem - when I forward an email to another person from any folder in my Inbox it copies itself and puts it back into the same folder and it doesn't send it to the intended recipient. I have tested and if I forward from the Deleted Folder and from the Inbox ( prior to an email being put into one of the folders) everything works fine.

I am not sure if somehow a feature got switched on my during the storm (my monitor was not plugged into a surge protector and there are a couple of faded colours at the top of the screen).

Thanks for any help or suggestions.
