This problem is been happening for some time now. I have not used this computer for a while. I update the Geforce driver and also all the window updates. I ran malware check and antivirus scans everything comes up clean. What can I do to solve this issues, I am at a loss and our local Microcenter Tech group says everything checks out.

Hi, I recently suffered a problem with my Samsung np-rv511-a07UK laptop that required me to reinstall windows 7 on my PC. It all seems to be working fine but I can't connect to the Internet and haven't found any solutions on fixing it yet since theres nothing on the CD to update the drivers.

Any help on where i find the necessary driver updates would be much appreciated.

My version of Windows XP professional stopped working, so I installed the Home Edition and now I cannot play sound files. I get this error message:

Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding (Error= 80040256)

My sound was working perfectly before the computer crashed but now I can't even change the audio settings, because it thinks I have no sound card.
The bad news is my computer was built by a friend of mine's brother, so I'm unsure as to the model of the soundcard, but I might be able to find out from him if it would help.

Thanks,
Keith

have you checked the Device Manager? RIGHT click My Computer, choose Properties, then the Hardware Tab and click on the Device Manager button. How does that see your sound card?

A few days ago i set up a virtual pc with my primary win7 and ubuntu as the other. After a few days i decided to remove ubuntu. Unknowingly i deleted my mbr which im sure you all know i couldnt run windows. I got my hands on my Win7 disk to reinstall thinking it would give me all of my information back but instead i basically got a whole new computer with all of my my old settings in a file called windows.old. Is there anyway i can restore my old settings i.e old user name and all of my documents? I want to bring cybertron (My old windows set up) to Earth (the brand new installed settings)<---for allmy transformers darkside of the moon fans lol. Thank you for any advice.

A:deleted my MBR(error) reinstalled windows. can i return to my previous

Yes, you can boot into another os (preferably winpe) and make another folder windows.new. Move your new windows folders into that.

Then open windows.old and move all the folders out of there back onto the root of the drive.

Like the link below- note, you don't need to do steps 5 and 6 as you are going from win7 to win7.

How to restore a Windows 7-based computer to a previous Windows installation by using the Windows.old folder

Here is what happened. My dad gave me his laptop 4 years ago, I have been using it as my main pc since then. He did not give me any windows disk or install disks, but I do have its windows product key, its on the bottom of the laptop. I tried to download the ISO from windows but it said that product key was not supported so I just used the 7 upgrade disk I have for my old PC that I now use as a DVR / server. HD formated, reinstall complete, now it wants a valid product key. So I put the one from the laptop in, it says its not a valid product key.

I have a valid product keys for both machines, why won't this work? More importantly, how can I get it to work? Please help, I need this machine.

A:Reinstalled windows 7 formatted HD, input product key, error

Double-check the product key. Many times an "8" is mistaken for "B" or vice versa. Same way with letter "O" and number "0".

However if the DVR/Server OS is still active, that product key has been used for that copy of Windows and can't be used again and that copy of Windows is tied to that product key only. The Product Key on the PC is for a "OEM" version. If you can find an OEM version, exact same version as was originally installed you should be able to use that and the Product Key from the laptop sticker.

I'm getting BSOD during normal use (whether it be web browsing or during a game). Memtest86 got 0 errors in 4 passes. CrystalDiskInfo and SSDlife both say that my drives are "healthy." CPU temps tend to hover between 40-60 degrees Celsius.

I've attached the dump files as the forum rules stated. Since this could be a drivers issue, I included a drivers list as well.

Here are some dump analysis from WhoCrashed.

Occasionally, the computer will freeze up and make the "dieing" clicking noise, with the hard drive working furiously. Usually, I preform a hard reset, but on two occasions, I let the computer run, and I recieved similar blue screens of death, with the hard drive access light solid.

The first:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
...(usual info on what may have caused error, how to start safe mode, etc)
*** STOP: 0x0000007A(0xC03E11F0,0xC000000E,0xF847CC22,0x009A2860)

The second:

*** ftdisk.sys-Address F85F1642 base at F85E7000, DateStamp 3b7d8419
Beginning dump of physical memory.

On the next occasion, I was trying to replicate the error after a day of no trouble, and did so by entering standby mode, then starting the computer back up. Surprisingly, I got this after saving a file(which, btw, didn't save)

KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

After the error messsage, the computer auto-restarts, and runs really slowly, requiring a shut-down, wait a minute, start-up

According to microsoft, the second parameter in each of these is the status (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...d_stp_fvlq.asp), and 0xC000000E is STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE. I have run mulitiple test... Read more

Recently my old laptop has been playing up, I don't use it but my parents do. So, the laptop was infected with the Antivirus 2009 after surfing the web and I removed it using malwarebytes program. Then shortly after the laptop would show a blue screen, displaying "KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR" and then reboot.

After the reboot, my laptop seemed to run fine, I downloaded AVG antivirus software to check if there was a boot sector virus (?) and after running the laptop for about 30 minutes, it showed the blue screen again and reboots. This kept on occuring.

Then I tried to reformat the laptop. The first time I tried to format it as FAT32, it got to about 60% before rebooting. The second time I managed to get past the formatting (FAT32 [quick])and I got onto the part of installing windows. About 20 minutes into the installation. A stop error appeared "STOP C0000218 Unknown Hard Error". Could the hard disk be corrupt?

Any ideas on what I can do to savage the laptop?
Thanks!

This is generally a registry corruption issue. There is a technically complicated method of recovery, but if the drive is really bad you are just going to get it again.
http://aumha.org/a/stop.php#0x218

Before replacing the drive, and since you have already done a clean install just prior --you might do another, but try removing and reseating the drive first.

Hi guys,

This is the first time I have used this forum, and spent the last few days reading through various posts that are related to this topic, but none of them have really helped out.

I just had a new machine built up recently (details below):
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional , Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 8104 Mb (Dual Channel)
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series, -2048 Mb

Motherboard: ASRock, Z68 Extreme4 P1.50
Power: 850W Enermax Modular
Case: Antec Nine Hundred TWO (1x Top Fan, 2x Front Fans, 1x Back Fan)
Cooler: V8 CoolerMaster
Antivirus: avast! Antivirus, Updated and Enabled

I have had the machine running for over two weeks and I think I have had like a total of 14 critical errors pointing towards Kernel Power Error (The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly).

Even though I have enabled to save Minidumps the last blue screen did not save anything into the minidump. In the event viewer this is all the information I can get.

I installed clean Windows 8. I checked the event viewer to see if everything is OK. But it has 4 critical error and they were all Kernel Power Error. I noticed these Kernel Power Errors are caused by when I restart my PC. Example is when I installed Photoshop, I restarted and I checked the Event Viewer Log. There was an event Kernel error created.

but here is where it gets complicated. When I boot to desktop after restarting my PC, it doesn't say my computer suffered from a serious error. I have to check it manually by going to the Event Viewer Logs. If I don't check the Event Viewer Log, I won't know.

There has also been times where my PC won't boot to Windows 8. I goes past BIOS and Windows boot screen, but it hangs there. It simply crashes.

I don't overclock my PC. My PC temps are always low old IDLE and always within the max temp under full load.
I have installed and updated ALL drivers and BIOS. I thought this might be driver issue but I realized this happened when I installed it clean and booted up for the first time.

This does not happen in Windows 7. Only in Windows 8.
I ran Prime95 for 12 hours -- no error
I ran Intel Burn Test for 9 hours -- no error
I ran Memtest for 12 hours -- no error

After installing a program, if that program requires a restart, windows often will show errors in event viewer as it didn't start up in a normal speedy way as that program finished its install.

This is the dump file:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in.  Typically caused by

This one was blamed on afd,sys (your winsock dirver) but I think the old networking driver is the true cause.

I would update all the below

This BSOD occurs during shutdown. It happens every time I do a shutdown.
The name of the driver at the bottom is different every time. (Picture Attached)
This started happening after the last time I installed 10 MS critical updates.

I don't think Win7 created a mini dump.
Before this BSOD occurred I did follow these instructions to create a mini dump:
Go to Start and type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that "Automatically restart" is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select "Small memory dump (64 kB)" in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as "%systemroot%\Minidump" (without the quotes)
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

Win7 Ultimate sp1 seems to run fine other than this BSOD after shutdown.

Thank you for looking at it.

As ive seen on this forum there seems to be alot people having the same sort of problem as i have. Windows 7 just seems to randomly restart without warning and all i can find in the event lot is kernel power event 41 error. ive done so many different things to try n find out the source of this problem and solve it but as yet ive had no luck.

i upgraded my pc to windows 7 just after christmas. i then had to upgrade to 4gb of RAM so that it would run obviously. since then i have added a new hardrive which seems to work fine. these random restarts have been happening since i upgraded but i cant exactly remember when they started.

ive scratched my head on this one for weeks trying to figure out the problem and i have done as follows:

1) Downloaded and installed upto date drivers
2) Run a complete virus scan
3) Cleaned all my fans
4) put more thermal paste onto my processor because it seemed to be lacking abit
5) installed a new power supply
6) checked for over heating

when i finally gave up i took it into a pc specialist and he checked everything over. after a week and a half he decied that the RAM was not paired up correctly. he also sed that my SATA cables where twisted and could have a small break in them which he has replaced.

ive just got the pc back today and within an hour of having it its randomly restarted again with no warning. i am at a lose as to what to do next.

any help would be greatly appricated

Hey Guys, Ive been advised by a friend to go here as you may be able to help you with my problem..

WELL.. It started the other day my computer just restarted when i was playing a game, it only restarts when im playing games. So i unticked the box in system- Control panel to not restart when a fatal error occurs.

That hasnt solved the problem so ive looked in event viewer and all that tells me in critical is "Kernel Power 41"

Google hasnt been much help, can anyone please help me with this issue? i am computer literate but not majorly.

Will do anything to solve this lol

Cheers

A:Kernel Power 41 Error [moved from Vista/ Windows 7]

You can find other threads about this error, for example, http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...or-467179.html is a link to an old thread in this forum, which in itself has someone posting a link to yet another thread on this forum.

If the computer is within warranty, I would suggest getting in contact and getting it looked at, as they will have spare components and tools around to test it.

However, before sending the system off, there are some things you could look into first. For example, in that link to the other thread, someone mentioned something about a reported issue with a specific graphics card. Do you have that card?

I would also check the temperature of your system, is it too hot? (Software tools like SpeedFan could help you find this out).

As you said this only happens when you run games, the two most likely causes are the above two. It could also be other things, such as insufficient or faulty power supply (unlikely as it sounds).

EDIT: of course, the solution in the other thread ended up being relevant to an Asus system, is that what you have?

I recently built a new PC and I'm having trouble figuring out if the cause of the crash is the mobo, the ram, or the SSD, or the pagefile. I ran memtest and one of the sticks of ram came back with errors so I've taken that out but I don't know if it was the stick or the port the stick was in, I plan on checking that soon.
I don't know how to check to see if the SSD is faulty.
When the crash occurs the audio cuts out and all of the USB devices turn off, Windows 8 then says an audio device was unplugged. Then it cuts to the BSoD. Windows doesn't create a memory dump, I followed the guide in the sticky.
Motherboard: Sabertooth 990fx

A:Assembled new PC, kernel data inpage error in Windows 8

I just tested the second stick and let it run for about 5 passes without any errors. The first stick got a single error on the sixth pass on test 6 so I plan on running more tests on it over night. I have noticed a lack of kernel data inpage error's since removing the stick, however the problems with the USBs disabling and the audio device crashing still occur.

OK, so I just moved for the first time in years, and as soon as I get my PC set up in it's new home it goes all wiggy on me. I'm thinking the trip might have damaged something, but I don't really want to muck about any more than I need to, as the PC is my only good link to my girl right now and I need it to work asap. I also don't have access to my install disc, as it is back home at them moment which makes things interresting.

So, here are the symptoms.
It started with a strange behavior in windows itself, where windows would not minimize properly. I had to close one window to be able to view the one behind it. When I rebooted the machine, it failed to find the drive and tried to boot from CD. After a little finagling and removing the CMOS, it booted properly, but then promptly crashed. It freezes for a few minutes, and then eventually flashes a BSOD Kernel Data inpage error for a split second before rebooting. Sometimes it will also freeze for a minute or two then come back. Sometimes after a crash it boots right back up, other times it fails to boot. When it fails to boot, sometimes it tells me the boot manager was not located, other times it just says insert disk to boot from CD. Sometimes it will also hang in the middle of the boot cycle. When it hangs in the boot cycle, it will eventually boot after about 15 minutes. The lack of consistency in the behavior is really throwing me off.

The main hard-drive seems to be running hot, but I can't rea... Read more

Hello,

I got a Windows 8 laptop back in 2013. Its headphone jack port physically broke somehow a few months after, but other than that, it's been functioning fine. However, in the past month, I've been starting to get BSOD crashes and now it's becoming very frequent (I had over 3 BSODs today in the length of several hours). Unfortunately, my warranty period long expired, and now I am worried that my laptop is not useable anymore! I can barely do anything without saving every 15 minutes for fear of a BSOD. Can someone please help?

I followed the help thread instructions and downloaded and ran the Sysnative program.

I uploaded the files up onto this thread and I also have some files from the C: minidump of today's crashes...

I appreciate all help!

Going into R with the cd (repair), there are limited commands. In looking in the LISTSVC it shows many processes as disabled, including Abiosdsk, dmboot,mraid35x,Ntfs,RemoteAccess,seclogon. Not sure if related or what to do to repair. From d:, I have expanded hal.dll and kdcom.dll and ntoskrnl.exe to c:\windows\system32 and all said 1 file copied, chkdsk /r shows no errors. Anyone have a fix for this issue? Computer was working fine yesterday, then in middle of another program, screen popped up multiples saying i was about to change file pathnames etc did i want to do this, but when i said cancel or no it just kept popping up the screens over and over and wouldn't close. I thought when I got out of all the programs I could do a system restore, but then that disappeared and when I restarted computer got the 'missing or corrupt hal.dll' and have been working on it from there with cd bootcfg etc. I had a registry program (regedit? can't get into computer to verify what program) 'fix a couple of file paths and registry errors about 2-3 hours before this. Oh yes, when in R mode with cd, when I look in c:\dir, it shows 0 bytes on Program Files and Documents and Settings plus a bunch of other files w... Read more

So I've always wondered this: When you install Windows, obviously you need to apply all the updates and SPs that have come out since the version was built. So my question is this: Why, after loading and installing the first 100+ updates, does Windows Update come up with a bunch more, and then after that, a bunch more, and then still some more? Why not all at the same time? Does it not see certain updates until certain updates are installed?

Just curious.

A:Why Does Windows Update Install Bunches at a Time, & Not All at Once?

Hello Gus,

It's due to some updates needing to be installed before others, or some updates could conflict with others if installed at the same time.

It would be nice to be able to install them all at once, but it's highly recommended to only install the one selected by default first, and repeat until there are no more updates left.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi,

I had some kind of virus on my pc yesterday that wouldn't allow a system restore or to run windows so I tried to clean reinstall windows 7 using the Dell reinstallation DVD.

However, I think by mistake I reinstalled to the recovery drive/partition which now only has 762 MB free of 14.6 GB. Strangley, after the reinstall the recovery drive was (C) and the OS was (D).

I tried to correct the issue by clean reinstalling again, this time choosing to reinstall to the OS. Now, the OS is (C) and the recovery is (D) but the recovery still has a red 'bar' beneath it stating only 762 MB is free of 14.6 GB (the OS has 259 GB free of 283 GB).

When I turn on the computer it now goes to windows boot manager with two Windows 7 options (I think this is because I've reinstalled it twice, once to the recovery partition and once to the OS? Is this right?) and asks me to choose. It then takes ages to load the windows configurations before bringing me to the screen to enter my password. One other issue is the built-in speakers now don't work, but headphones do, the error message states 'the peripheral does not appear to be plugged in. Check the connection. Proceed to next step to finish', then 'The speaker, headset or headphone is unplugged' - there's nothing to plug though, they're internal!

It would be great if anyone knew how to fix this (especially the issue with Windows 7 being reinstalled to the recovery drive, I can live without the built-in speakers if need be).

Confirm you have overwritten your Recovery partition by attempting to run Dell Recovery: Dell Restoring Your Computer?s Software to the Factory Settings

If so, you no longer have any need for it or for any OEM/tools partitions since you have chosen to clean reinstall with the DVD which applies only a pristine copy of the OS without any of the preinstalled factory bloatware in the Recovery image.

Now start over with the Reinstallation DVD (a valuable asset no longer included by makers) and follow these steps to get a perfect reinstall: Reinstalling Windows 7

Merely an intuitive accessment, but the fact that the problem occurs during games, and with the color changes, makes me wonder how you installed the video card and driver. Boot into Safe Mode, open the Device Manager and uninstall the display adapter. Select Show Hidden Devices...just in case there is a ghost of the previous video card (if there is, delete it), run Driver Sweeper to remove any remanents of the driver itself. Do not touch anything that says VGA, reboot to Safe Mode and reinstall the driver.

Well i'm new here and i would like to say one thing and if this is the wrong palce to post this than please moves this anyway I don't know squat about computers. Recently i have had this message that pops up every time i turn on my pc. The error message says," nt kernel error 1256......." I can't remember more but it has something to do with the system registy.
It slows my computer down alot and causes many crashes of the computer and lots of other bad stuff. I can't even use my computer to its full extent. I'm using a sony vaio windows xp.
Its kinda old like 7 years old but i really don't have the cash as of now to get a new one. If some stuff is need to buy like programs or w/e i'm down with that but they gotta be purchasable from the store because i don't trust internet. I've been scammed many times by people saying they can fix my computer with this and that and these kinda programs saying all i gotta do i pay 30$. I will buy stuff from store if i need to but it has be like under 50$ cause my dad is like MEGA cheap. I apparently lost my hard drive on my Dell Inspiron 2650, and this message below came up. There is a similar message on the threads listed however, the stop code is different on mine. Also, after this the screen says "no operating system found" When I try to install the system again it says no hard drive found.
I have replaced the hardrive once with another 20 gig from ebay of the same type and model number and now this one has done the same thing within 20 days.

I am not a computer mechanic and have limited knowledge of computers.
Can anyone help please?

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen then restart your computer. If this screen appears again then follow these steps.

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properlly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need

If the problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as cacheing and shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer and press F8 and select Advance Startup options and then select safe mode.

Hey guys, so, im getting the ye ol' Kernel 43; long story short, i was getting constant BSOD because of bad timings on my rams, i fixed that by enabling DOCP on my motherboard and while it "overclocked" my ram, it did a mini auto overclock on my CPU, a 4 year old Phenom II BE 960T, while it was running slightly hotter, it wasnt anything critical, well the BSOD stopped...till i started getting this kernel; back then it was 2 weeks apart from each error sometimes even a week, i thought i fixed that, by removing the CPU overclock and manually setting my rams. But last night, i got a new kernel, 1 month and 7 days later.

I dont really know what else to do, is the CPU dieing? is it getting fried? the PSU is brand new and its a EVGA 600B Certified. I guess, here is the log

Howdy,

I got this error last night sometime in the wee hours. I usually leave my PC on most of the time since I use it for work and have sensitive files that need backed up nightly. I always set my Windows PC's to not reboot after BSOD's from experience so I can better analyze. When I woke this morning the PC was at a BSOD.

A Little background on my system:

Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 running at 800mhz
Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500YD 250GB 7200 RPM SATA
MSI K9A2 Neo-F AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
HIS Hightech H467QT512P Radeon HD 4670
Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Black SATA

I also have two USB external Drives. One is a Western Digital 320GB and the other is a Hammer MoreSpace 1TB. My backups go to the Hammer MoreSpace drive nightly. I use Genie Backup Manager Pro for all my backups. One of the backups is from my C drive to the Hammer Drive at about 1am. The other backup that runs later is from the WD320GB to the Hammer Drive.

I could not locate the minidump file in Windows. I was under the impression it was C:Windows/minidump, however there is no such directory in my system, C: is my boot drive.

Here is the only error I can see that occurred multiple times at around the time I would guess the system crashed.

Hi, a couple of days ago I installed a file downloader. Since yesterday if I try to copy/rar/transfer some specific subfolders in the downloaded file directory my pc crashes with the kernel inpage error. Maybe is caused by the overloaded Hdd but it's from about two years that I have 3-4 GB free.

A:Kernel Inpage error

Kernel data inpage error = stop 0x7A.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.

Hey everyone,

I have a problem. This has been happening for generally a long time since I got my PC over a year ago. Generally, what usually happens is when I leave my computer on for a long time, these things tend to happen

1) Computer gives BSOD with no specific error
2) Screen goes blue and I touch mouse and everything is back to normal
3) Screen goes blue and I touch my mouse but certain files are missing and freezing. Ex. When I click Chrome it would say file does not exist or file is no longer available. Try to click but nothing happens.

After these things would happen, I would usually just restart and it would be fine. These events have happened alot but I generally ignored them and just kept on restarting my computer when it happened.

More recently, I turned on my computer, logged in, and after a couple of minutes it would randomly freeze my screen and then after a while a BSOD would show up saying "Kernel Error" Or something along those lines. This kept on happening for a while now and I didn't think I would be able to get back on my computer. I just restarted it now and it worked, as of now II'm typing this hoping it doesn't happen again.

Hey everyone,

This is my first time posting here, but I have lurked around and read all the threads I could find in regards to this error. I know it's a general error, but I plan to provide as much information as I can.

For the past 4 months, my desktop has been shutting down during games. It doesn't matter what the settings are on, but it simply shuts off and reboots without any warning.

This happens approximately 45 to 80 minutes into a session.

I have recently replaced/tested:

Replaced Motherboard
Replaced PSU (3 times)
Replaced Graphics card
Reinstalled OS twice
Cleaned the entire case
Re-applied thermal goo on processor
Checked the fans, and made sure they worked
Opened my case and placed a fan on the side to create circulation
Replaced ram
Ran memtest on new ram, no errors

I have no clue what steps I should take next, and I can only assume thus far that I either have another faulty PSU or my processor is starting to go.

I have attached my system information as well as my system tempuratures/volts.

Please let me know if there's anything else that would be helpful.

Thanks!
Steven

Hey guys,

I've bought a PC in February 2010, I must say it's a wonderful thing!

However... For some reason when I play YouTube movies in fullscreen or play (heavy) games. My computer stops responding, the screen turns black and it looks like something is trying to fix the display all the time. But it doesn't succeed.
Now I really want to know what's going on, I've seen a lot of topics about this problem but none of them really seemed helpful to me.
The only thing I get out of this is when I start op the Event Viewer, I only see 41 Kernel-Power.

My PC Specs:

Intel Core i5, 2,66Ghz
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5770
Gigabyte P55-UD3R Motherboard
OCZ 2x2GB DDR3 PC10666 CL7.0 Platinum
Cooler Master CM620
WD 750GB HDD

Now that's pretty much it, if you guys could help me out please do! Thank you!

Hey all,

I have a gateway GT5662 (http://www.gateway.com/product_spec.php?product_recid=529667852), running Windows 7 (upgraded from vista). While I was running vista, and even now, I keep getting Kernel Power errors. They're all the same: Source is Kernel-Power, Event ID is 41, Task category is (63). The computer sometimes reboots spontaneously, sometimes gives me wavy lines and then a BSOD, sometimes shuts down and refuses to start until I turn off the power and wait for a while. It seems to occur randomly, with neither rhyme nor reason. I did by a Back-UPS CS, thinking that it was brownouting. That helped for a little bit, but it's started doing it again--12 times in the last week. I have hit the forums, and the tips seem to be all over the board--some people say it's the audio drivers, others say it's a graphics issues, still others say it's a power issue...one guy even said his case was shorting things out! Any help will be much appreciated, and if you need any more information, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi,

My computer started crashing 2 months ago while I was saving a game I was playing. This only happened at first while saving, eventually the save game file corrupted. The blue screen stated: Kernel Data Inpage Error and the Tech Info was- Stop 0x0000007A (0xc02017F8, 0xC000000E, 0x805FEF75, 0x05612860). The computer started getting slower and wouldn't save the game at all and would display the same Kernel data inpage error screen (with perhaps different tech info) when I tried to Defrag.

Eventually the performance got worse and the blue screen crashes more frequent regardless of what I was doing on the computer (like Word)- I generally noticed though that saving something would generally cause a Kernel Data Inpage error even after I uninstalled the game where the problems started. The computer ran its own check on start up because it stated there was a consistency problem. I did run a check disk and it did note some bad sectors. I did disable secondary caching and that helped but not for long. I couldn't disable caching all together as it ran way too slow.

Now the computer won't even boot XP regardless of safe mode or not. The blue screen is that there is a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to my computer. Stop 0x00000024 (0x001901FF, 0x812F74F0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000). The real problems started around the time I reinstalled XP but I can't remember if the first crash was before or after that.

I think that it is a... Read more

A:Getting Kernel Power error ID 41

I just cleaned the filters of my ventilators. Now cooling works way better and I don't have crashes like you have anymore. After half a year of daily work everything was closed with dust.
If dust is not the reason it may be your cooling is not efficient enough after buying a new graphics adapter for instance. Also check if your power adapter has enough capacity.
Hope I could help.

I have a 2001 Dell desktop with a pentium 4, with 1.5 Ghz and 128 MB RAM.

I bought it with windows ME but upgraded to XP 6 months ago.
I thought my problems were due to ME, but the problems have continued since my upgrade.

MY PROBLEMS:

1. Very slow start up, sometimes up to 10 minutes!

2. Very frequent blue screen and crash at start up and other times. Perhaps one out of every five times I use my computer. The error at crash seems to be, "Kernel inpage error" - but it varies.

3. Online speed is inconsistently slow even though I have a cable modem.

4. My computer is unable to handle multi tasking, such as listening to music while surfing the web, or opening more than one application.

5. In general, performance is very slow and unstable.

Any feedback or suggestions for improving my computer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. David

A:Kernel Inpage Error?

It might be worth testing the RAM and hard drive.

Here's a RAM tester: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Not sure what hard drive is in it but its a good chance it might be a Maxtor drive: http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/powermax.htm (it might work on your drive even if its not a Maxtor drive. backup any critical info before ruunning.

Also, if you used a Windows XP upgrade you could have just transfered any software problems from ME to XP. These problems could be Windows problems, a virus, or spyware.

Try doing an online virus scan and download, update, and run Adaware. You want to fix any problems it finds.

A:Kernel-Power 41 (63) error

What exactly is the issue?
What does the computer do when this problem occurs?

All this event log is saying is there was an unexpected shutdown, the OS lost power suddenly.

There are no bugcheck parameters so it's not a blue screen, that's not very helpful as blue screens help us understand the issue.

I was just watching a video, when the computer froze and then I got the blue screen. This is the 2nd time it happened.

Then when I restarted, I kept getting 'Not responding' when I tried to open Firefox, chrome or any other program. Even Ctrl-Alt-Del was not working. All the tasks were 'Not responding'

Whats wrong with my computer?

A:BSOD (Kernel error)

That sounds like more of a virus problem to me. Can you get network activity in safe mode with networking?

Not having access to the task manager is a tale sign of a virus infestation.

A:kernel inpage error

There aren't any memory dump files included in the upload.
When does the BSOD happen? During the boot process or during the shutdown?
There aren't any signs of BSOD's in the WER section of MSINFO32 either - but there are Live Kernel Event (sometimes these are records of unexplained shutdows).

Please do this:

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Hey...

First it's great to have joined an excellent forum with what looks like a great community!

I keep getting the stated error above and i have managed to deduce that my pc unexpectedly shuts down when im using my firefox browse and looking at streaming sites and sometimes it randomenly would shut down. Also an hour ago or so i went onto speedtest and my pc shut down with that error. I tried again and it shut down again on speedtest. So im not sure whats going on really, perhaps a flash problem or something? I manage to play games fine with no crash at all and removing my realtek audio drivers it seemed to fix like sometimes i would boot my pc and 5 mins or so on my desktop it would crash. Well here are my specs and the error in detail.

This is the third time that this has happened so I'm in need of some help.

It always happens when I'm scanning my laptop with AVG or SAS. I would get the blue screen of death saying there's a bad sector and it has something to do with the kernel fault checker data or something like that but Windows fixed it. So then I try the chkdsk /f thing and reboot again so I think everything is fixed. The error doesn't happen consecutive times but enough to know there's a problem.

Any help please?

Please check this out.Do you have AVG Anti virus or Anti spyware?First do an online scan with Ewido In order to start cleaning your computer download and install1) CCleaner2) Spybot S & D3) Adaware SEUpdate all programs and run them. With CCleaner you should also go to the tab Problems and tick anything to do with the register. Hi!
I have a problem. After upgrading from windows 8.1 to 10, when laptop goes to sleep mode, it won't turn on anymore. If I disable driver signature enforcement it starts normally.
What could be wrong?
Error file is in attachment. Thank's in advance!

A:Kernel power error 41

A driver( hopefully the latest driver you self installed) was a unsigned driver.
What you could try is.
Uninstall this driver.
Then boot into windows with disable driver signature enforcement and reinstall this (unsigned) driver.
And hopefully your computer when goes to sleep mode turn on normally.

Hi guys,
Recently I've been getting blue screens with sad faces and rebooting...
the error is apparently a kernel trap. I've been getting a lot of freezes with windows 8 and accidentally overwrote 7...I'm trying Firefox now and seeing how it is, but can we see if we can fix the kernel trap?
