2-No audio device. My sound is only working when the error message pops up.

3-Generic host process for Win32 services has encountered probelm needs to close.
(this occurs when I boot up computer)

4-unable to create C:/document and settings/jamie/application data/BVRP Software Netwaiting Moth log txt.file (this happened when I booted computer

I called dell as the system is only 4 months old, and i have warranty, however they informed me that for software related issues they would charge 264.00!!!

You could say that I'm rethinking my purchase choice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much

Hello, I can't access Windows update. I get this error message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Is malware blocking access? I ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, but it found nothing. Please help so I can access Windows update again.

I also get this pop up error message periodically: "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services". My internet connection then cuts off & I can only reconnect by restarting the computer. I don't know what to do & it's very frustrating. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated please. Thanks very much.

A:How do i fix the message error Host Process for Windows Services

its could be one of a few things.

When vista came out a lot of people had the issue due to software that wasnt fully compatible/up to date.

Others have had the issue with ATI Control catalyst if you have an ATI card, update the software and drivers.

last but not least it could be dodgy ram, so do some memory tests.

Hello. I am currently doing some minor tweaks to a friend's laptop that has Vista Home Premium loaded. The changes I made yesterday were as follows (and in this order): Uninstalled McAffee Security and installed MSE, uninstalled Abobe Reader and installed Foxit Reader, installed Firefox and downloaded a Windows update for Vista SP2. I'm almost positive that the error message appeared after the Windows update but can't be certain as I don't know how quickly the error message appears after the error has occured. The error message doesn't hinder performance but is annoying when it pops up. Can you please offer some advice/help on how to get rid of the error message. Thanks.

Hiya, this problem started when I encountered "generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close". I figured I could have a virus or something, so I rebooted to run some scans in safe mode. Problem is, when I attempted to go into safe mode, it flashed the blue screen and reset.
Also this happens when I try and disable auto reset on BSOD ( so I just don't change it)
"-System control panel applet- if the page file on volume C: has an initial size of less then 0 megabytes, then the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs. Continue anyways?"

After the reset, I was given 2 options I haven't seen before:
"Windows XP professional" -> everything starts normally
and
"Windows (default)" -> gives me a "hal.dll is corrupted" error

I did my scans on normal windows (since safemode is giving me BSOD) and I didn't find any viruses/mal/spyware.
I used these for scanning: Microsoft security essentials, malwarebytes, and spybot.

After some google searches, I tried to update windows via ***www.\/\/indowsupdate.com but recieved an error message like I didn't have the internet. I read somewhere to add it to the "trusted websites" and I did, but didn't change anything.
Also from the searches, I was redirected a few times, so I think I have the google redirect virus.

I don't think this has ever happened before (I've had the laptop for about 8 months), but I did install HP printer software a few days ago. I downloaded the latest vista driver for the printer from Hewlett Packard's website, everything installed fine, and the software updated itself automatically to the latest version, so I don't know if it's printer-related.

Here's about all the information I can think of, hopefully one of the experts here can help me out... If I've done anything wrong so far, please let me know as I would love to learn. I apologize if this post belongs in the Virus/Malware section.

So a few days ago, the Anti-Malware Doctor infection popped up on my computer. As I've dealt with similar infections in the past, my knee-jerk reaction was to google removal information.

First attempt - Found a short list of associated files & registries online, and deleted them manually. I can't remember the exact outcome, but I still had some problems/symptoms, so I restored all of the deleted files & registries.

Second attempt - Downloaded and installed Malwarebytes + RKill, but couldn't get MWB to update at all. A MWB scan in Safe Mode found and deleted 2 or 3 Anti-Malware Doctor files along with a few Trojans. After restarting my computer as part of the removal process I ran another MWB scan out of safe mode, which found and deleted 2 more Doctor files.

After restarting the computer again, my wireless internet was not working, so I played around with what little I know about the command prompt (pinging, ipconfig, that kind of stuff). After many hours without success, I managed to get a friend to come over and fix that problem (something to do with DNS servers disappearing), as well as bring a fully updated MWB over on a flash drive. A third MWB scan found and deleted numerous infected files (I can't remember what exac... Read more

Hello,

So i opened Hijack this today and this message popped up.

It would let me open it as normal after i pressed OK, checking the host file nothing appears abnormal:

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each

# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

# For example:

# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost

I've tried using hostXpert and a microsoft fix but i'm still getting this message, what can i do to stop it?

I use Malawarebytes Anti-Malware, had a virus a few weeks ago but it got rid of it.

I've also been able to get online even with that service blocked by me using Sygate Firewall, so if you have a 'proper' firewall (not the inadequate Windows one), try permanently blocking it. If you don't allow Windows to use it it shouldn't cause the error, and, like I say, I can get online with it blocked.

It says that it needs to check for the latest updating software, then says that I need to download and install the latest updating software and there is a button "Update Windows" that I need to click on which I do.The text now says something about downloading updating software and percentage numbers appear: It pauses on 67%, 84%, 92%, then goes to 100%. This a.m. I was greeted by this System Configuration Utility message popup:

You have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the way Windows starts.

The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the Utility to run every time Windows starts.

Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General tab to start Windows normally and undo the changes you made using the system Configuration Utility.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I used the system configuration utility to untick a program in the Startup menu. Is that why I am getting this message now?

If I follow the directions and select the Normal Startup option, will all the services that I have painstakingly turned off over time start running on startup again? Or will it just load the one application it changed?

Could I restore the registry from a few days ago instead? And, if I do that, will the tracking cookies I finally got rid of by setting them to be deleted at start-up reappear?

Another question I have is, what is the utility used for, if not to make changes? Is it just to look at? What good is it then?

I frequently come across "generic host processs error message". Can some one guide me how to avoid this.

A:generic host processs error message

According to microsoft, this error occurs in windows XP sp2, if security update 873333 (MS05-012) had been installed.
Upgrading to XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) could easily fix this problem.

I have a Vista Business installed on my machine.
For few days hadn't switched off and put it to sleep mode. During that period had
installed 2 softwares only 1) flv to mp3 converter and 2 ) Java 6 JRE update 7 .

I had switched off once now , and when I have started it again after bootup immediately after sometime receive message 'Host services have stopped working' Windows will notify if a solution is found.
Have tried to use safe mode and restore , but even restore service is not working.
Please suggest and any help will be a boon right now. The laptop is a Sony so no CDs with it.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm having the problem with Generic Host Process. When this message comes my system is not able to access the network resources.

What I observed in the system is whenever this error comes one file gets drop in the system32 folder. I'm having an Antivirus along with Agnitum Firewall. An AV is detecting the file and deleting it. But what I observed next is it opens a Port 445.

Please help me out to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Hi - I have a yellow warning indicator in my Devices and Printers folder next to my PC. The error message is:

Name - Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller
Device Type - IEEE 1394 Bu host controllers
Device Status - This device cannot start (Code 10)

I am not exactly sure what this is affecting but I am unable to print for one, despite uninstalling and reinstalling the print drivers.

Anyone seen this type of issue before?

Good Morning,

I receive the following error message on every boot up of my Toshiba Laptop, running Windows 7, 64 bit OS.

F - Secure Host Process is trying to recover your information.

The message disappears after a few seconds and does not recur until the next boot up.

I assume that F refers to a USB device, but I never boot up with a USB device installed and I have always used the 'safe removal' process.

The error message seems to be of little significance but its persistent occurrence is very frustrating.

Any suggestion to solve this annoyance would be gratefully received.

Just for grins after shutting down try holding down the power button so that the machine shuts down completely. Wait about 30 seconds. Then boot up. It may not work. But it shouldn't hurt to try.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Hi all,

I had this error on my two laptops and desktop at the same time! I was able to get one laptop and the desktop working by repeatedly running the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab until all the errors were gone and updates would work. Can't get seem to get it to work on the other laptop. I have run WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab to the point were there are no errors but Windows Update hangs on the updates. Now I'm back to getting the errors in WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab as follows:

Windows Update Error 0x800b0100
Cryptographic service components are not registered

Attached the following files included in report: CheckSUR.log, dism.log and output.txt

I've now spent DAYS fixing these three computers. Any help with this last one very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Follow link No2 in this link, obviously use KB2929437 not the 1 in the link.

Or if your not really happy using that method
Uninstal it, from an elevated command mode

Ya Ya Ya, there's over a hundred threads like this, ...

Anyway, started getting this error message a few days ago, and done a lot of searching on this error message, apparently it's not, uncommon.

In particular, the (currently) 4 updates that are being affected are:
Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3173428) - Error 0x80070543Security Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3172729) - Error 0x80070543Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3174060) - Error 0x80070543Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3176493) - Error 0x80070543

The actions I've taken to date are:
Uninstalled firewall program (comodo)Uninstalled anti-virus (Avast)Reset the windows update catalog on local machine.

So the above errors are with the above done.

What other steps should I be taking to resolve the issue?

I'm having a problem with Windows Update. When I try a manual update from the "Start" menu I seem to be able to access the site but when it is scanning for available updates, I get an error message.
[Error number: 0x80072F78]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view.

I have "Automatic Updates" turned on but I'm not sure that's working as Update History tells me my last update was 10/16/06 (three weeks ago). I've searched MS Knowledge Base to no avail. Maybe I just havn't found the right one yet. If I ever get this fixed; I know I'll be updating for hours. I hope someone can help me......I'm lost

I am having a problem with one certain windows update:

Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems

It has installed at least 30 times. Right after I install it, it pops right back up to install again. Why does it keep doing that if it installed successfully? Is it bad that it installed that many times? I don't understand. Will you help me please?
Thank you
Fay

There are no error messages with the windows updates.
I tried to upload the CBS.log but i keep getting this error message:
Server Error
500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

How do I get the file to you?

A:Repeated windows update; no error message

The 500 error when attempting to upload is almost always because the file you're attempting to upload is too large - strip out the CBSPersist files until the resulting file is less than 8MB, then try again.

Make sure that you follow these instructions,...

Hello,

My wife's laptop is showing the above error message when trying to download windows updates. This started recently, but I have a feeling it is related to my son downloading a bunch of programs and malware with Minecraft back in October of 2014. I ran Malwarebyes an cleaned all the infections, but this week we started getting this message. The internet is running very slowly as well. I am having to post on the site from a different computer because I can upload anything on the computer with the error.

I have run the System Update Readiness Tool and also the sfc /scannow tool. I'm still getting the same error message. My Windows log is posted below. Any help is appreciated.

Ok so 15 minutes ago i logged onto my PC (XP) , and saw windows ask me for an automatic update. So I installed it, then rebooted my computer. Now right after it starts loading, it shows me an error message.

lsass.exe - System Error.

The endpoint format is invalid.

The only thing i can click is OK and it restarts my computer and shows me the message again.

If you need more information, please let me know because I need that computer back up tonight.

I have had my Dell 8700 for little over a year and have had problems from the beginning.  I am 72 years old, and I am at my wits end!!!

A hard drive was replaced in the summer of 2015, but I have still had problems with the computer shutting down and my having to refresh it to factory setting.

I thought updating to Windows 10 would solve some problems, and I did this in October, 2015.  Everything was fine until a couple of months ago.  The end result was when I tried to refresh the computer to factory defaults, it went back to 8.0 or 8.1, and I evidently lost something in the process.
Now, I cannot update to Windows 10 and when I tried to resinstall the Dell Operating System, I get for both:  "WE COULDN'T UPDATE THE SYSTEM RESERVED PARTITION."
I DO HAVE A SYSTEM BACKUP ON 20 CDS (MADE WHEN I HAD WINDOWS 10).  Could I reinstall the system with these backupdisks?  How do I do that?  I also have a Dell 2 Boot USP stick, I have a recovery stick, too, but it semed that when I used this, I received a message that not all files were recovered
What should I do at this point?

A:Error message when trying to update to Windows 10 or to reinstall operating system 8.1: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.
In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use a third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

This happened quickly. First thing I noticed was during a Windows Update. I had recently reformatted my hard drives and had a LOT of programs to download and install. It went well until the end when it refused to install three security updates and another update ( not sure which). Microsoft was stepping me through things - running "FixIt" and the Microsoft WIndows Readiness Tool. This had no effect.
I also ran system file checker. NOthing has worked. On the contrary, things appear to have gotten worse. WHen I would try to log onto ebay, or most any secure website I would get an error message - something to do with SSL. I tried it with Internet Exlorer ( I was using Mozilla Firefoxat first). Using explorer I was allowed to enter secure sites but other things stopped working.
None of the links in Outlook emails work anymore - I get a "general failure message".

I've ran with Norton, Microsoft Essentials, Malware Bytes Anti malwarem - all came back clean.

Can you help like you did before with a problem I had a year or so ago!?!?

Thanks in advance - you're the best.

After this I can usually keep operating somewhat but IE is non-functional.

Typically after this happens I also can't run Task Manager or shutdown without holding down the power button.

I've run Malwarebytes several times and it doesn't make any difference.

Hello,

This is my first post on this Forum. I am working on my cousins computer that had several problems:

1.) she filled her hard drive nearly full (less than a gig free space)
2.) computer had many virus and malware.

I have moved data and documents onto newly installed drive to free up primary drive for repair.

XP Home still would not function properly after running Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6.2 both applications were fully updated and (imunizations applied)

Computer was not responding and many errors were present.

I then performed a "repair" installation of XP home to establish functionality

I now am getting error message about generic host process for Win32 services...I welcome some help to remedy and see if this message is any possible malware still present or a windows error..

I also suspect there are some networking issues...had much trouble establishing conectivity though a newly installed copy of IE 8

I welcome your thoughts

Have tried various solutions posted about this error message, from registry to firewall. None work so far.

I have enclosed the notepad containing the contents of the diagnostic tool report.

If anyone has a few moments to take a glance and give me there opinion I would be grateful.

Kind regards,

Hi,

My son's Toshilba Satellite L50-B-1DV hasn't successfully run a Windows Update since last October - I only discovered this yesterday.

When I had a closer look the updates, and just about every kind of troubleshooting I try, is failing with the error message "0x80070057". I've rooted around online but can't see any obvious fixes.

We'd prefer to fix this ourselves but as the machine is only six months our next step is to take it back to John Lewis for repair - which would be a pity as he uses his laptop every day.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

A:Satellite L50-B-1DV Win8.1 - Windows Update Error Message 0x80070057

Hi

You have mentioned the error 0x80070057 while update installation.
This error occurs due to multiple reasons and therefore it?s not easy to say why this happens exactly. But the most common cause could be the missconfigured registry or damaged system reserved partition.

My recommendation for workaround:
Try to repair the system and the registry using CCLeaner. You could use this freeware software for registry cleaning as well as to remove the ?system garabage?.

If this does not help, try to repair the OS using the system?s own options.
The "Automatic Repair" option attempts automatically to diagnose and fix problems that may cause Windows 8 not to start or having a different wrong behavior.
Automatic Repair will start automatically when Windows is unable to start properly. If it detects any problems, it will automatically attempt to fix it but it can also be started manually.

Access to Automatic Repair can be found on the Windows 8 start screen. Now "Advanced" in the search box. When the search results appears click on the "Settings" category.

Now click on the option "Advanced startup options" and you will see the "General PC Settings screen". Look for the option "Advanced startup". Click on the restart now button and Windows 8 will restart your computer to access directly the Advanced startup menu.

Click on the "Troubleshoot" button and then the "Advanced options" butto... Read more

Hi,
I'm getting this error since a few days. "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" and from then I'm not able to get audio output after getting this error message. Every time I start my system I'll get this error after some time and thereafter audio will be disabled but only Windows sounds will be available. I thought this to be a Audio Driver error and reinstalled the Audio driver several times but it's of no use. I'm using Zone Alarm firewall on a Win XP SP2 system.
Please help me out !!!

OK so there are 1001 posts on this on every newsgroup...so here's one more.
Basically, I'd just like to know...has anyone actually tried the microsoft
fix:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B9-7A6A-49B6-BD89-AFAD4E049C48&displaylang=en

and found that it works? Also, is there an uninstall facility for this fix
in add/remove programs?

My situation:

Brand new Compaq Presario M2045AP, winXP SP2 loaded, have automatic updates
enabled & installed all.

Had Norton AV installed but uninstalled that & replaced with Vet Antivirus.
Have updated Vet, and also have updated adaware and spybot all running & no
viruses present (that they know of anyway)

Have HP PSC 1315 all-in-one with all software updated including critical
update for HP imaging software. In fact this was pre-loaded.

My message is as follows:

Error Signature.
szAppName:svchost exe
szAppver 0.0.0.0
szMod.Name : unknown
szMod.Ver.0.0.0.0
offset.00000000

When following instruction to "click here" the following files will be
included in the error report:

c\DOCUME-1\xxx
1\LOCALS-1TEMP
1\WER 9 bc8.
dir 00\svchost exe mdmp
dir 00 \appcompat.txt

(where xxx is my name)

I have no problems as some people do with the computer restarting or not
shutting down - once this message is closed all behaves well. The message
does not come on every start up but when it does it refers to an error in the
process from say the day before - it's not an instant repo... Read more

Hi guys,First off, there's actually someone else on the site who you're helping that seems to have the same problem as me: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic369733.html However, I'll also describe it here if that's more helpful. I've been having an issue with my desktop computer for about 4 months now, and I figure it's really time to get it figured out. My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition, Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100427-1636 : Service Pack 3) When I first turn it on, all seems to be going well. After a while (it sometimes takes a couple of minutes, sometimes a few hours--I haven't noticed a pattern yet) a Windows error pops up:When I click to see what the error report contains, I get this code: szAppName : svchost.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.5512 szModName : ntdll.dll szModVer : 5.1.2600.5755 offset : 00023845Once this error has popped up, my computer's sound card seems to go out. There is no sound whatsoever on the internet (Youtube, etc.) and if I try to open my iTunes, I get this error:(It's strange, but I've found that if I open my iTunes BEFORE the error occurs, music will continue to play, even after the error happens. Unlike that, if I open Firefox and have a Youtube clip playing, it will mute the clip right in the middle of it)Several other issues seem to come up after this point. At some point after the error occurs (again, hours or minutes, no real pattern detected here) my taskbar sw... Read more

Hi Jen.Let's try this. Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.~BladeIn your next reply, please include the following:TDSSKiller Log

I recently received this error message: Generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close. It came up twice today so far and when I closed out the box I lost the stuff on my desktop, my icons and the start toolbar. I have also had 2 dll errors pop up since then too everytime I turn my computer back on.

The dll errors are as follows: c:\windows\kbjmer.dll

I have already started a topic about the preliminary observations made for this error here:My Original Error Topic Link HereThere are total of 2 posts by me there. Because I was asked to post log details for malware examination here so I have started this topic.I was asked there to follow basic malware removal steps from step 6 onwards. There were a couple of hiccups when doing those procedures but I think they were mainly due to high processor usage leading once to Hanging Up of computer (perhaps due to processor going into some sort of infinite loop and I had to hard-restart) and then a Blue Screen of Death both while running DDS. But I don't suspect malware activity here(about the DDS thing) as my PC has a habit of crashing occasionally when processor fluctuates too much or sometimes it used to do so with PFNList corrupt indicating some RAM problem (My earlier RAM of 1 GB was recently proving to be too inadequate, however now I have upgraded it to 2 GB). I suggest that you read my original topic(2 posts by me 1 reply by Broni as of now) from above link and tell me how to get rid of this error as well as the Google Update services.Nevertheless I was able to complete the entire procedure and here are the logs :(DDS.txt pasted here as required and Attach.txt and ark.txt attached) DDS.txt.DDS (Ver_2011-08-26.01) - NTFSx86 Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18702 BrowserJavaVersion: 10.2.1Run by Owner at 1:21:01 on 2012-01-02Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.103... Trying to troubleshoot my g/f's computer.

Vista Home Premium on a Dell XPS210 (~1.5yrs old)

Windows Update fails with a 800706BA error. It downloads, starts installation with progress bar, says "creating restore point" then fails.

"Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed" (Message Box) is also randomly popping up.

Faulting application svchost.exe_wuauserv, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549adc4, faulting module vsstrace.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bdef, exception code 0xc000001d, fault offset 0x000095db, process id 0xeb0, application start time 0x01c94a8ef7c0ce16.

I've tried the steps located here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940520 but with little luck.

The computer has McAfee installed, but it won't update or function right either currently. Not sure if its a contributing factor or not.

I'd like to fix this without reloading the OS, but it isn't looking good..

Thanks for any & all help with this problem.

Windows Update error code 80070490 appeared on 20 September 2013 and message "Windows can't check for updates". I use Windows Vista Home basic 32 bit, Service Pack 2. I tried almost all suggestions in Internet (including these on Microsoft Web-page) about this how to fix this problem, including Microsoft Fix It, System Update Readiness Tool, Windows Update Diagnostics DIAGCAB file and etc., but the message continue to appear. The last successful update was on 13.09.2013. All updates made before and on 13 September are written as "successful" in "Update history" folder, but when I open "Installed Updates" folder, I don't see nothing and there is written "No updates are installed on this computer", which is strange, because by this moment Windows Update was made automatically without any problems. Hi all,

Need some extra help here. I attempted to get the debugging tools to read the minidump files post-mortem, but can only get into safe mode, which doesn't help me. I've attached the zip of the output from the jcgriff2 app.

I'm not positive, but it may be related to an attempt to install Spanish & Japanese optional language packs to Windows 7 Ultimate installation alongside a recommended update.

Initially, it crashed during start up at the 'configuring windows' screen at 15% into it. Two system restores later to take me back two updates, and now it returns to the 'configuring windows' screen on startup and crashes at 0%. Not sure if additional system restores will do much good.

Thanks,

- Matt

Hey,
I have an emachines D620 with Windows Vista and recently I have had several problems.
Firstly, an error keeps popping up saying that the host process has stopped working and windows has closed it. Sometimes, after this, the aero theme ceases to work. This can easily be fixed by restarting the laptop, but this is only a temporary solution.
Also, windows update can either not download the updates or cannot check for updates. I have tried to manually download the updates from the Microsoft website but they have failed.
I have tried a system restore but this has not helped. I am beginning to feel like the only solution will be to reset back to factory settings, which would not be ideal.
I don't know if these problems are related, but I would appreciate any help regarding them.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional
I wonder if anyone can help me before I deposit my computer in the loch

After downloading updates for Spyware Doctor I ran a complete scan of my PC. I asked it to fix all of the problems it had found. It 'told' me that I wold need to restart my computer. This I duly did, but as the computer was shutting down a Windows Installer box appeared briefly. On restarting, the box appeared again. Apparently it was trying to install HP Brio Management Agent WMI. However I then got the message: -

'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable'

'Click OK to try again or enter an alternative folder containing the installation package 'HP Brio Management Agent WMI.msi' in the box below'
In the, Use source, box below was C:/Documents and Settings\Default User\_is44F\

After clicking OK to try again I got the message: -

'Error 1706 No valid source could be found for product HP Brio Management Agent WMI. The Windows Installer cannot continue'

Everytime I start up, or connect to the internet, or open another page I get the Installer thing all over again! It will eventually 'cancel' but is very persistent - I would really appreciate some feedback

Thanking you in anticipation.

In the past week or so my computer has been experiencing the same problem of win32 error message, which on prompt will reset my toolbar and everything back to previous windows 98 style of the white toolbar and old style of design, i know this has something to do with a virus.

I recently just had the fake Anti-Virus scan maleware on my computer which i succesfully removed with maleware-bytes and Whitesmoke translator which i also removed twice with malewarebytes. Im just wondering if there anything that can cause this sort of problem with my computer, maybe a virus im not catching? Also it seems my computer has been booting up rather slowly and it just seems super sluggish.

Any help would be appriciated just lemme know what you need thanks!

Ok, so since of recently, my computer has been acting really wierd. I would start the computer up normally and everything would be fine. But after spending some time on the internet, mostly around 30-45 min, I would get the same "Generic Host Process For Win32 Services" error message. And then after I close the box, my screen starts to act really wierd. A blank white bar appears between the top blue bar (on my computer) which would usually have the website , etc.. "Tech Support Guy Forums - Mozilla Firefox" and the menu bar. And then the windows box changes from "Windows XP style" to "Windows Classic style" on its own. I am still able to use the computer/internet but after a while, it starts to progressively get slower and slower. I have no idea whats wrong with it. I have Avira AntiVir and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and I have scanned my computer many times but nothing comes up. Please help
I have Windows XP
If you need to know anything else, i'll try my best help but i'm not the best when it comes to computers.
I'm also gonna try to attach screenshots of my computer/error messages.

Thank you

Hi,

I have an Acer netbook running windows 7 starter...for several days each time I close the laptop there are updates that attempt to install but fails to do so for some reason...there are also issues of configuration, seemingly every time I start the laptop.

I have read the uploader tool page but before going through this process would like to ask why the laptop fails to update ? ...I recently got rid of any microsoft office programs...does this have anything to do with the failure to update ?

below are the updates that have failed several times ... sorry but the image is very small !

A:Windows 7 update failures and configuration issues.

It`s a couple of days since I posted the above but the updating failure continues...I`ve no idea if the failure is caused by this laptop not in fact having the required internal programs to ensure the updates are accepted...something is obviously not right.

edit ti add...maybe the laptop just doesn`t need these updates...?

A:Graphics card update to host windows 7

I don't know if you CAN upgrade your graphics card, but:

You most likely don't NEED to.
It's not really a good idea to upgrade at all. Those parts are old as dirt and you won't find anything cheap that'll fit.

I have Win 7 ultimate. For the past few months my computer tries to download the updates and install them automatically, but it does not complete them. I get the error message as above and informs "Reverting the changes". What does this mean and how to fix this problem ?
Thanks for the help.

I'm on ADSL Zoom X3 modem connected to my PC with No other Router connected

when I used a bittorrent for the 1st time (Azureus), I got NAT error problems, this happened to everything I tried.
It tells me I have no remote access & icons stay on yellow?
I checked all the wizard configurations & whatnot, they all told me I have a NAT error

I just want to know if theres anything I can do? because when I switched to my AOL 56k connection, the NAT error was not present there
SO is my NAT messed up or not set up correctly???

I don't have a router so I can't open any ports only on it,
I'm only with my DSL modem, so I went to my DSL setup page

I went to the NAT CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
the screen had this info:

NAT : Enable
Mode: Dynamic

Session: blank (no other options listed but can be typed on)
User IP: blank (no other options listed but can be typed on)
Action: add (& another option for delete)

Number | Session | Name | User IP
# of NAT configurations: 0
I tried switching to disable NAT!
the description makes it seem like hackers can get to my IP & whatnot without it, but I tried anyways, BUT I could not connect to the net anymore after that, I had to re-enable it.

All I know on on Azureus is that in options it states 6881 as the incoming TCP listing port.
there is no Session or User IP info there to find & typing 6881 on User IP just tells me it's an inncorrect IP
can anyone help?
anyone with any knowledge of this??
is it poss... Read more

A:HELP!! error message: windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

You've definitely got some nasty malware on your system there. Please click on and follow the directions in the 5 Steps link in my signature below to scan your system for malware and to post a Deckard's System Scanner log in the HijackThis forum section. Unfortunately we cannot advise about HijackThis logs in the XP section.

As far as the explorer error, if you have a Windows XP CD you can insert the cd and then go to Start > Run and type "cmd" w/o quotes. Then type in "sfc /scannow" without quotes to run the Windows File Checker. It will check the system files on your PC and if they have been altered they will be replaced with a copy from your XP cd.

Definitely follow the 5 steps link in my signature below though. You've got some nasties on your system.
